the losers club as pretentious dance convention kids cause i just went to my last dance convention (at least with my studio, i am sure i will go to another one) (still :(((()
౨ৎbill is one of those stupid good contemporary dancers. always wearing baggy clothes, only ever dances in socks. he is friends with the ground to the point where like gravity does not pertain to him. weird contemporary solos but. not so far that hes straight up dancing to a recording of a person talking
౨ৎeddie is 100% a ballet dancer. his technique is to die for although he struggles to emote. what sucks is that he isnt your stereotypical male ballet dancer - his leaps are average height, hes flexible and has gorgeous lines, he despises pas de deux...the works. this however is a great combination for a convention dancer !
౨ৎstan pretends to be a ballet dancer...he is lying he is that kid who traveled around with a convention every weekend and is super versatile and performative but in that specific way that you can tell hes a convention kid. really his strength is weird contemporary, not the slide-y rolling around on the ground stuff like bill, the weird stuff. the you-are-a-bird, you-just-got-electrocuted-and-all-your-movement-is-intiated-from-your-neck (directly inspired by two combinations i learned this season) stuff. freak
౨ৎben is a lyrical dancer cmon! ben is so a lyrical dancer. he is the male lead in all of his studios intense sad romantic lyrical pieces cmonnnnnhhihjbnk babe can perform! he gets uncomfortable with the weird shit that stan likes; he doesnt love jazz or hip hop but like. hes good at it hes just not confident enough to fully sell it
౨ৎbev is a jazz girl, definitely gets into commercial work when she starts dancing professionally. she is most comfortable with commercial jazz funk, as opposed to the energetic triplette-little-kid-doing-molly-long-choreo-where-they-keep-doing-one-leg-over-and-over-again. she thinks the camera is fun, and the camera man loves her.
౨ৎi am going against my better judgement and making richie a hip hop dancer ik i am sorry i try to make richie as uncool as possible but. hes a hip hop dancer :/ annoyingly good musicality and movement quality. also just has fun; there is no way he takes it as seriously as like. eddie. his movement style also lends itself well to contemporary even though hes not super technical. figured out he could hold a handstand and is now on his hands whenever possible,,, deliberately changes the combo so he can do a little twirl on his hands
౨ৎmikey is a tapper! i love tap as a style but convention tap is either good or just complete dogshit because so many people skip the classes because they dont tap at their home studio. i know his tap shoes are cool asf definitely fun colored. is the perfect mix of style and performance and also technical tap ability. he can do the other stuff dont get me wrong but he always pulls through with a banger tap solo

Hello, it's me again, with another long-winded headcanon.
First, though, I have to tell you that two of my friends just had a baby and named him Asher! I figured of all people, you would appreciate that. His mother is really more of Hunter/Echo (knowledgeable and focused and very patient and adaptable in really out there situations), while his dad is a Tech/Wrecker combo (Tech's wit and build with Wrecker's joy and enthusiasm). This kid's gonna be awesome.
Second, I saw your thing about Wrecker enjoying Shakespeare, and I had the thought recently that I feel like he would also enjoy ballet and dance in general. Watching people do these amazing feats of strength and agility with their bodies, but in artistic fashion. I like to think when the Junior Hunters were potentially taking ballet class because it seemed like a good idea, he's ALL OVER IT. He loves taking them to class, watching the teacher do her stuff, and he's just so mystified by it all. THEN. AND THEN. The lovely dance teacher is really rather tickled by his excitement and encouragement of all her students (he's totally the dance cheerleader), she asks if he'd be interested in classes himself and he's just baffled by the concept. He is the Wrecking Ball, not a gossamer butterfly, surely he would be a mess? And she's like, come on, you clearly enjoy this stuff, give it a shot. So (after swearing the Junior Hunters to secrecy because if this gets out, Wrecker will never hear the end of it from his vode and have to bury himself under Mustafar) he agrees and shows up to an adult beginners class, and is delighted to find a bunch of fellow enthusiasts who are open minded and welcoming. The dance teacher really helps him understand moving his body, and he learns to express himself in a different way that he really loves (Wrecker is great at emoting, and I believe he'd take to this without a hitch) and he also likes learning all sorts of dance; ballet, jazz, tap, flamenco, break dancing, etc. He learns that dance isn't all one thing, it's a lot of things, including what he can do. He becomes the dance school's unofficial mascot, and the boys really appreciate him for anyone who starts ragging on them for liking dance, Wrecker just looms over them with an affable, "What'd you say about dancing being dumb?"
He is honestly more likely to insist that person try it than threaten anyone, and he winds up tripling the student body.
Do I also headcanon the one dance teacher having a crush on Wrecker? A wee bit. Do I think the crush is mutual? Also a wee bit.
The Junior Hunters love their dancing ba'vodu Wrecker so much that they never spill the beans, and when Crosshair (along with everyone else) finds out about this side angle, it's because Asher has been going to dance classes for six months already and his buir is like, where did you learn to spin so fast? And Asher is so dang proud of Wrecker that Crosshair can't bring himself to denigrate this unknown skill.
Okay, I have again gone on way too long with this, and I hope it wasn't terrible. Just fun ideas bouncing around in my brain. I hope you're having a stellar day!
(Sorry I am so embarrassingly late to answer this. <3)
Omg another baby Asher!! XD Congrats to your friends. They sound like they’ll make good parents.
OKAY you always leave me some of the best thoughts EVER and I LOVE you for it haha this is so sweet. Wrecker doing ballet because of his nieces and eventually dabbling into other forms of dance and secretly LOVING it. All the while secretly crushing on his dance teacher. XD This is LOVELY I will be thinking about it the rest of the day.

HI HELLO FIRST REQUEST!!!! have you ever seen the try guys/ would you write something about the lions doing their ballet video? I really want to know who's the most flexible lol
A/N: Hello Anon! I had the same idea! I am a trained dancer and my dance season just finished up! Thank you for requesting this! I had a lot of fun writing this! Enjoy! All characters belong to @lumosinlove and except for the dancers, social media fic inspiration goes to @fruitcoops
Link to the Try Guys video here
Link to the dance the lions do here
“Hello, Lions Fans! I’m Dorcas Meadows and today your favorite hockey team will be doing ballet! They will be taking classes for two weeks and learn a dance.” Dorcas says after Marlene gives her the ago. They are standing in front of a local dance studio called Gryffindor Dance Academy.  The camera cuts to the team in white tee shirts, black tights that outline their muscular thighs, and black ballet shoes. Kasey has his hair tied back into a man bun. They are standing in a studio with a black floor, mirrors on one wall, a wall painted sky blue with a bunch of fairy lights, and another wall that’s yellow with pointe shoes dyed various colors hanging up along it. There’s one more wall that’s green by the door with a large rectangle of chalkboard paint. The chalkboard read WELCOME LIONS! In yellow and red writing with a doodle of a lion below the writing.
“Remind me why we’re doing this?” Finn asks rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “I literally have no rhythm whatsoever.”
“I am fully not prepared for this.” Remus says, shaking his head.
“We figured it would be fun, and there’s been a lot of requests from the fans.” Marlene replies from behind the camera. The camera cuts again this time to a girl in her late 20s. With curly blonde hair wearing basic athletic clothes.
“Hey! I’m Emily and I’m a teacher here at GDA or Gryffindor Dance Academy. I teach ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. I majored in dance and I’m currently part of a contemporary dance company.” Emily introduces herself the camera cuts to a compilation of her dancing and teaching then cuts back to the team.
“You will be dancing with level 9-10 which is our intermediate to advanced class. Then learning a combo to perform!” Emily explains. The camera pans around the team's faces with expressions of horror, genuine fear, or utter confusion.
“How old are the dancers in this level?” James asks.
“14 to 16. They are all on our competitive dance team too. The Gryffindor Stars.” Emily states. A group of nine girls enters the studio. with multi-colored leotards, black tights, pointe shoes, pink ballet flats, and water bottles.
“Am I allowed to curse?” Thomas wonders out loud.
“Technically no but these dancers are freshman and sophomores in high school so it shouldn’t be too bad, just be aware of the younger dancers that will be coming in and out later.” Emily responds with a smile. “Girls, when you are done putting your pointe shoes on, introduce yourself to the Lions then take out the bars.” The camera pans to the girls putting their point shoes on.
“When you introduce yourself, We would like first name, last name, age, and how long you have been dancing okay?” Dorcas says with a smile. One girl finishes and gets up. She has an Asian complexion dark hair slicked back into a low messy bun. She has a black leotard with crisscrosses in the back and a burgundy scrunchy in her bun.
“Hi, I’m Ryn Carney. I’m 15 and I have been dancing for 12 years. Also huge hockey head.” Ryn introduces herself. The others follow suit and help get the bars out.
“I’m Nina Locke. I’m 16 and I’ve been dancing for 13 years.” A girl with blonde hair blue  eyes a fair complexion introduces herself.
“Alright let’s start with pliés. Demi, stretch, demi, stretch, grandé. Cambré forwards, cambré back. Tendu to second stretch into to the bar and away from the barre. Port de bra is first, second, and high fifth. Then balance in Sus-sous.¨ Emily says then runs to start the music. “Prepare and first position plié...”
“Merde! Okay, um demi stretch and big one, forward backwards, next position.” Logan pliés with panic. Emily walks by and tells him to turn out his feet. He gives her a quizzical look, she bends down and gently pushes his feet into the correct position. She walks by the stereo and grabs a tambourine.
“Keep your hips tucked in while doing a plié.”
Kasey is doing pliés feet turned out, his butt awkwardly sticking out behind him. Emily walks by and smacks it with the tambourine he fixes it and continues. James looks over and starts laughing.
“I’m never going to live this down ever am I?” Kasey asks shaking his head.
“GET SOME BLIZ!”  Finn whoops.
“BET ALEX AND NAT LIKE THAT!” Talker calls out. Various other chirps from the team. Soon they finish pliés and work their way to tendues.
“There’s so much French literally everywhere I go.” Finn says. The camera cuts to Sirius who is doing the best out of all of them so far. After a couple of exercises at the barre Emily leads a guided stretch. “And now slide into your splits.” The camera pans around the room showing off the girls in their full splits alongside Leo and Kasey. Remus is not even close to the floor, Thomas is fairing slightly better than Remus, Logan is very close, and Finn is doing worse than Remus.
“Loops if I pull a muscle do you wanna do your PT thing?” Thomas asks. “No. I’m not your PT anymore plus I would be dealing with my own muscles anyways. Knutty! How?”
“I’m a goalie, Loops.” Leo responds flatly before sending him a smile. The camera cuts to a clip of the Lions doing petite allegro then grande allegro and failing miserably. Then to the team set up in interview style in front of the fairy light wall.
“How do you feel about dancing?” Marlene asks from behind the camera.
“New found respect for dancers and um I’m just going to continue to work hard at this.” Sirius replies. The camera cuts back to the team lined up in front of Emily and Ryn. A banner comes across the screen reading Pointe shoe demo.
Ryn does a couple of leaps and turns and an arabesque.
“Does anyone want to try on pointe shoes?” Emily asks a couple of uneasy looks pass through the group of hockey players before Logan speaks up.
“I’ll do it! I might regret it but I’ll do it.”
“Great! Here are the pointe shoes.” Emily hands the to him and helps lace the up. His foot barely fit into them.
“Grab on to the barre and then push your onto your toes, keep your knee straight.”
“Merde! MON DIEUX! That hurts like a fucking bitch! NOPE! NOPE, I’M DONE!” Logan exclaims as he wobbles around en pointe gripping to the barre for dear life.
“If you break your ankle I’m not doing your PT. Plus, you’d have to explain to Layla and Moody. I don’t think you want to do that.” Loops chirps over Logan. The rest of the team laughing except Finn and Leo watching cringing at their boyfriend’s antics. Logan continues to wobble for another five seconds before lowering off of his toes.
“In what world is this not painful?” Logan questions while taking off the shoes.
“You get used to it after a while.” Ryn replies. The camera cuts to an empty studio except for the Lions and Emily.
“So, you will be learning the Russian dance from The Nutcracker. But before that we have to work on you leaps and turns.” Emily says. The camera cuts to a montage of the lions doing Grande Allegro and failing miserably. Then to a montage of them attempting to turn.
“I am so dizzy I feel drunk.” Thomas while swaying slightly.
“Me too.” Kasey says.
“I second that.” Loops replies rubbing his head. The camera cuts to Emily walking them through the choreography. The camera cuts back to the interview set up.
“How do you feel about doing a dance from the nutcracker?” Dorcas asks from behind the camera.
“I have already have butchered this horribly. I’m not even going to sugar coat it.” Finn says.
“Agreed.” Kasey chimes in. The team nods in agreement. The camera cuts to a fast forward of the team dancing in class and practicing their choreography. A banner slides across the screen reading ‘The Performance’. There’s the group of dancers that they took class with sitting against the mirrors cheering the team on. Emily had the Lions split into groups of three and gave the entire team tutus. Leo, Kasey, and Logan went first. They missed beginning and forgot the end. Logan fell after some turns and jumps, Kasey tripped over Logan nearly face planting into Leo. And Leo managed not trip but he did accidently hit Kasey with his long arms.
Sirius, James, and Remus were next. Sirius got the beginning then tripped over his own feet, James just stumbled his way through the dance watching Remus or Sirius. Remus was doing his best not laugh at how bad it was.
After all the groups performed the camera cut to the Gryffindor Stars dancing a modern dance to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. The dance ends and Marlene steps into frame.
“Thank you Gryffindor Dance Academy and the amazing dancers here! Thanks for watching Lion Pride we’ll see you on the ice! Like and subscribe for more videos like this!” Marlene closes.

What Type of Dance Classes Are Right For You?
Tumblr media
Dance classes have been around for many centuries. Many social dance styles like the European waltz and contra dance were taught in nineteenth century America. During the jazz era, dance fads came and went. From 1910 to 1920, dance academies sprung up everywhere, primarily to keep up with the latest steps. In 1911, there were more than 100 academies in New York City alone. They boasted a population of 100,000 paying pupils, 90 percent of whom were under the age of 21.
Modern dance classes are increasingly popular because they encourage creativity in choreography. Students are taught the basics of ballet, contemporary, jazz, and modern dances, as well as how to put them together. They are also often given choreography problems and challenged to solve them. This is especially beneficial to beginning students, as it can be difficult to perfect choreography in a day. For experienced dancers, however, this type of instruction is challenging and rewarding. You can find dance classes here: https://mtldancestudio.com/.
Beginners should opt for a group class. Although private classes are better for those with advanced dance skills, group classes tend to have less students. One teacher leads a class of 10 to 20 students. Beginners should choose a group class if they are able to learn in a group, and are not easily distracted. Regardless of the method, beginner dancers should focus on having fun and making friends at the same time. Once they've established a foundation for their dancing career, they can begin advancing to the next level.
Beginners should also consider a video-based class. There are numerous online options available to learn how to dance, and they can be done in the comfort of your own home. Many of these classes are recorded and available for download or streaming. If you're not into the idea of attending a live class, try taking a video-based dance class instead. This way, you can follow the instructions while doing choreography. The classes are recorded so that you can control the speed and adjust the time to suit your needs. Read more on this service.
Another option is hip hop/acro dance. Hip hop is a style that involves tumbling. A boys combo class for ages 4 to seven will let them explore several different styles of dance, including hip-hop. You can even opt for lyrical dance classes, which combine jazz and ballet movements. If your child has a very emotional nature, hip hop may be the perfect option for him or her. The emphasis in lyrical dance classes is on proper body alignment, terminology and musicality.
Students who wish to pursue a career in dance can take a variety of classes to improve their physical inventiveness, performance intuition, and immediacy. These classes will prepare students for a professional career in dance. They will develop a personal movement vocabulary, gain performance experience, and learn the basics of teaching. For six credits, they are required to take guest teachers. The lab fee for the course is $75. If you're interested in becoming a dance teacher, an Introduction to Dance class is a good place to start. This link: https://www.encyclopedia.com/literature-and-arts/performing-arts/dance/dance has content related to this article, check it out.

random mina headcanons
my girl 🥺
her mother is beninese & her father is japanese
she knows a good chunk of french & surprised yuga with a response the first time she heard him talking to himself!!! not completely fluent, but enough that she and her mom annoy tf out of her poor, clueless, malewife dad
she always forgets she speaks french until it’s brought up and she’s like AH BAH OUAIS MDR
has done dance her whole life: hip hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, urban, etc, but breakdancing has always been her fave!!
loves a harajuku fashion moment & relishes in the fact that toru does too. we love our camp queens!!
sometimes they can convince shoto to join them & he looks darn cute
started the girls’ group chat (as well as the combo girls’ gc with 1b)
tries to schedule a 1a-1b girls night at least once a month!!!
midnight & thirteen are of course invited!! recovery girl is too, but she doesn’t come. she’s stopped by before to drop off some snacks she made & several girls cried & hugged her
once she tried to orchestrate a sleepover with all the girls at ua in gym gamma and it was an absolute nightmare & a partial bust.
it was one of the most fun nights she’s ever had. definitely made it to the top five of hardest times she’s laughed
likes to make her own clothes!! she used to suck, but she’s gotten pretty good!!!
bothers katsuki to talk to his parents since they’re in the fashion industry. her & his mom butt heads a little bit (amicably) but she loves talking to masaru!!
total conspiracy theorist and is super superstitious
likes to convince people she’s an area-51 escapee
her appearance was never a problem for her when he was young because of how positive her family is, but once she got to middle school she definitely faced a lot of criticism
of course she handled it like a queen, but she... was in detention for a good part of her first year
she didn’t deserve it, she was in the right 😤
super into body inclusivity -- not only for size/weight/height, but for mutant-quirk possessors/mutant appearance possessors
flips back and forth as to whether or not she wants to eradicate or reclaim the term “mutant”
absolute closet nerd. i’m talking deep into the most obscure anime/manga, has discord servers with online friends.
this bitch plays yu-gi-oh with her international friends on sundays sometimes
definitely a scene kid. still remembers how to make kandi accessories.
pretends this portion of her life didn’t happen
but also... camp
she is nearly impossible to scare but so easy to startle/spook
if asked what her biggest fear is, she can’t come up with an answer, but if someone walks a little too quietly behind her and she turns around & sees them suddenly she will scream like she’s been stabbed
screamed when she heard about club penguin
really wanted to talk to kirishima in middle school but he was always super weird about it so she thought he didn’t like her
when she found out he was just Anxious and Scared she very dramatically collapsed to the ground
of course our girl loves gossip, but she’s actually quite good at keeping secrets. in fact, she’s specifically good at blackmail, which makes her, momo, and toru a very dangerous trio
definitely advocates for female heroes early on and doesn’t take shit from anyone, especially men
she’s quick to destroy anyone who makes comments on her body/personal life rather than her work ethic/accomplishments
is specifically attached to ectoplasm and talks to him all the time outside of class. admires him a lot!! also thinks his quirk is “super swag”
hangs out with rikido and yuga a lot!! they’re both incredibly entertaining and super chill!
she is REALLY good at chemistry simply because of how much she’s hyper-focused on acids throughout her life
she actually has pH strips for when she wakes up to check her acidity. needless to say, watching her pop open a canister and put a piece of paper in her mouth was a little jarring after first moving into the dorms
she gets awful acid reflux/heartburn so she usually carries antacids :((
is the kind of person that likes the “weirder” animals/creatures when they’re pets/contained, but as soon as they’re in the wild she screams
like for sure loves a good spider building its web on a bridge but if she sees one in her room she’s sleeping with eijirou
yeah she loves rats! they’re super cute!! if she ever sees one in the girls’ bathroom at school again she’s dropping out!!!
will do anyone’s makeup/nails/outfits at any time without question
also will be there for anyone who needs to bitch about someone else -- she specifically loves to do it with katsuki, although they can get pretty nasty about others pretty quick
allergic to rhubarb ✊😔 fave fruit is dragonfruit and it’s mainly because it reminds her of herself! it wasn’t until recently that she actually began to like the flavor lol
watches old re-runs of things like whose line or jeopardy in the middle of the night. usually someone comes to join her & they have cereal together in silence

Loosen Up My Buttons, Babe
So I was an Irish soft-shoe dancer for like 10 years and did ballet, tap, contemporary and jazz on the side.
The dance Geralt/his students are working on is HERE ON YOUTUBE and this studio’s stuff is so good, you should browse if you feel like it.
(I’d like to imagine that Geralt moves kinda like the blonde girl at the front of the second set of dancers... you cannot miss her)
lemme know if you like this au, I might add more later.
tw: vaguely horny
---
“Alright, let’s do some across-the-floors for warm-ups, please,” Geralt clapped, getting the attention of his students. The handful of young adults scurried to the far left corner of the room and awaited further instruction. “Let’s work on the combo from last week. Everyone good with that? Good. Let’s go!”
He pressed play on his Advanced Hip Hop Warm Up playlist and watched as each of his students worked their way from one corner to the other with a series of complicated break-downs and steps. Once the entire class had gone through the combination, first one way and then the other, he nodded and switched the song.
“Now let’s do the combo from two weeks ago and see if you were paying attention. If you’re not comfortable going first, let someone else go. Once you feel ready, take your turn. Alright?”
A handful of confident nods and yet another handful of less confident ones. About on par for an Advanced class. He waved them on and observed yet another smooth set of passes.
“Everyone feel warmed up and ready to move on?”
More nodding. This was his quietest class, probably because it was the only class he taught for college freshmen and sophomores, and they were a nervous bunch. Any students older than twenty moved on to Eskel’s technically driven adult class. Geralt taught ages twelve to twenty, six hip-hop classes a week, two hours a class. It was fun, but it was tough work and it had put his body through the wringer.
The ballet instructor across the hall was well-worth the suffering, though. He was new, fresh out of the Conservatory with his Master’s in Dance and another in Music Theory; a prodigy, he’d heard the studio owner say in passing. Perhaps, although Geralt would never admit it aloud, this particular routine had been drummed up by him and Eskel specifically to get the ballet teacher’s attention.
“Alright, I’ll run through it with you the first time, but then you’re on your own.”
“Yes, Mr. B,” the class replied in unison. He pressed play on a different song and took his spot in front of the two-way mirror at the front of the room. The class could see him and themselves, but on the other side of the glass was the hallway separating him from the ballet students. The ballet classroom was the largest, and had a mirror at the front, leaving the side wide open to observe the hip-hop students. Geralt was counting on his curious neighbor paying attention.
He hadn’t put this many body rolls and floor movements into one combination for nothing, after all.
---
Jaskier was salivating. He didn’t have a class between four and five in the afternoon, so he usually sat in his studio space and stretched or worked through new choreography for his students; today his attention had been very thoroughly grabbed by the class across the hall.
The gorgeous, white-haired beefcake of a hip-hop teacher, Geralt somethingorother, was hot as fuck and he was doing some truly delicious moves right now as he led his class through a combo. Jaskier wanted to kiss him desperately, but he wasn’t sure whether or not the other teacher was even into guys.
Based on this performance, however, he probably (definitely) liked men a bit. No straight man could move his hips, ass, and chest like that without breaking at least a little bit of a sweat (although it was still early in the class period...).
“Fuck me,” he sighed, thunking his forehead against the glass of one wall-length mirror to cool off as Geralt snapped his hips back and forth before hitting the floor with his palms flattened. “That should be illegal.”
“What should be illegal?” Eskel, another hip-hop teacher asked. He’d poked his head and shoulders into the studio and Jaskier blushed brightly at being caught.
“You can see him too, right? You can see the way he’s -oh gods, look at his chest - he’s moving, right?”
“Seems like you have a mild crush on my brother, huh?”
“Brother!?”
“Twins, actually,” Eskel winked. “But I’m not nearly as flexible as Geralt.”
“Eskel, darling, please stop it right now before I burst into very manly tears of joy,” Jaskier whined, punching his friend and coworker lamely on the arm. “How come you never told me before?”
“He doesn’t even know that I come bother you between our classes,” the dark-haired man winked. “He’d probably kill me. He’s very jealous, our Geralt.”
“So he’s... you know...”
“Yeah, dude, he’s into you, too.”
Jaskier may or may not have hyperventilated a little while Eskel looked on with giddy glee.
Geralt would be happy to know his plan had worked.

@mistoffeless replied to your post “I bought a turning board to assist with...”
I dont know if you're a dancer or not but As a dancer the best advice I can give you is really engage your core muscles and your shoulders the momentum comes later start with your leg low and work up, as in just off the floor and as you get more confident go from there, make sure you turn out also NEVER get discouraged. You'll have bad turn days, I still do, i remember having an awful day whilst dancing as Mistoffelees so never give up
I am decidedly not a dancer, I really appreciate the tips and encouragement! :) I took it up in the last few months mostly for fun, exercise, and increased flexibility and strength, and once the whole pandemic situation is over, I want to get back into doing musical theatre like I used to. I’ve always been a singer who acts, so in shows I’ve only ever needed to learn extremely basic/minimal combos (or none at all), so I thought I’d take the abundance of free time to build up my dancing skills! Been taking random jazz and ballet classes in my living room (including a jazz one taught by Robbie Fairchild which was terrifying but a highlight). I’m definitely keeping pretty low to the ground right now with my turns, but even just an hour of practice today really helped improve my balance and center, even if the momentum’s not there yet
Also that is so cool that you’ve danced Misto! For me it was a joke more than anything, I’ll definitely never be quite that skilled but it would be great to be able to be in the show sometime in the ensemble or in a less demanding dance role! Right now as a singer my options are basically just Griz and that’s no fun lol

Uhh how long have you been dancing and what’s your favorite style?
I have been dancing on and off since I was 4, and I’m 18 now. I never competed or even took ballet for that long, so I’m not the best dancer, but I love it. I’ve only ever taken jazz and tap classes (and aerial silks if you count that) and occasionally would end up doing lyrical/contemporary combos in my jazz classes, so I’m not horribly experienced when it comes to the different styles. I would have to say my favorite style is tap.

You’re a Dancer
A/N: I got kinda carried away with these so sorry bout that. (I'm trying to ignore the fact that I failed a math quiz I thought I did well on and this seems to be helping ) Also, most of them kinda stray away from the whole dance idea (just a bit) but they're all centered around it. Well, enjoy reading and thanks for being awesome! I would really appreciate some feedback. Also, is anybody else a dancer? Thanks lovely peoples!
Warning: Swearing
Luke
"The following people have been dismissed: Kasey Noblant, Corey Black, Anabelle Melia, James Smith, Katherine Rangel, and Andrew Curry. Thank you for your time."
You had made it past the first step of the audition process. You were almost positive the multiple mistakes you had made during the ballet audition would have your name crossed off the list. Apparently it didn't. You knew you were close to being crossed off though. You would have to work your butt off if you wanted this summer intensive scholarship.
"Ladies, please put on your tap shoes. The next portion will consist of a short warmup led by Mr. Luke Hemmings along with a combination."
"I'm going to get cut next. I suck at tap." The girl next to you said as you were putting on your shoes.
"I'm surprised I didn't get cut from the last part. I'm not that great at ballet, but I'm pretty good at tap. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging though." You reply.
"It's all good. I'm the exact opposite; great at ballet, terrible at tap. The only reason I considered the audition after I learned there was tap in it was that Mr. Hemmings was teaching the class. I'm Reagan by the way."
"Y/N. What's so great about Mr. Hemmings?"
"First of all, he's super hot. Second, he's an awesome teacher. If anybody can teach a tap class, it's him."
"Alright then. Good luck to you. I'm sure you're not as terrible as you say you are."
"Thanks. Good luck to you too."
"Ladies," Mr. Hemmings announces as he walks onto the floor. "Our warmup will consist of 16 shuffles front, side, back, both feet. Then we will do falaps in the same pattern, followed by some steps across the floor. 16 shuffles. A five, six, seven, eight.
The competition seemed to die down once you started to go across the floor. It quickly became apparent that tap was not the strong suit of many of the dancers. Flutters were what seemed to get people. The syncopated pull back was not the easiest move, but you had mastered the step at a younger age, allowing you to get ahead of the game.
Not long later it was time for the combination. Learning a new combination was never an easy feat, but you had been able to learn how to pick them up with ease compared to most of the girls. Once you were sure you knew it, you made your way to the center of the front line and prepared to show off your skills.
It was the middle of the combo when an overconfident dancer decided to get all up in your space and run into you, messing you up. You tried your best to fake it, because once you mess up one step it ruins the rest of the combo.
After another cut the audition consisted of you and six others girls. The competition was heavy. You could all do ballet, tap, and jazz. The girl who had ran into you was cut after the tap section, while you thankfully managed to not get cut.
"Thank you ladies for your time. We will be in contact with you regarding our decisions of scholarships within the next five days."
After you had thanked the instructors and gotten your things together, you went back to talk to them to search for areas of improvement. Most of them seemed impressed with your ability and ethic. Especially Luke.
"Ms. Y/L/N, I was quite impressed by your tap audition. I would say some of your steps in the combination could have been cleaner and you should learn how to be a more 'defensive dancer'. I was impressed on how you were able to keep dancing after being run into, but you should work on learning how to avoid incidents like that when you see them coming. Overall, you were an excellent tapper and I was quite impressed with you." He says.
"Thank you Mr. Hemmings."
You walked out of that audition the most confident you had ever felt. When you received the call that you had been picked for a full scholarship you were beyond ecstatic. You were even happier when you came to the intensive and found out that Luke would be teaching classes, as well as some privates to dancers who had received full scholarships.
Luke helped you out with defensive dancing and your tap. After talking for a bit, you found that you had similar interest, and quickly developed a great friendship.
Calum
"Calum I have super exciting news!" You yell as you walk into your house, putting down your dance bag and grabbing an orange, tired from a long day at the studio.
"What is it?" Calum asks, laughing at how quickly you were scarfing down the orange.
"Stop laughing at me. I've been dancing and haven't eaten for six hours." You say, pretending to but mad.
"I'm sorry." He replies sassily as he tosses you another orange.
"Thanks. Anyways, I got an email from a company today. You remember that company I auditioned for a few weeks ago? They want me to be the Russian lead in their Nutcracker this Christmas!"
"Oh my goodness babe! That's amazing! Congratulations!"
He pulls you into a hug picking you up and spins you around, smiling at how you laughed as he did so.
"When do you go? How long are you going to be gone?"
"This is the not so great part . . ." You start, dreading having to tell this part of the story. "I would have to leave in September to start rehearsals and I'll tour until December 23. I would get home around midnight on the 26th."
"Y/N, that's a really long time." Calum replies, the smile dropping from his face. "I don't want you to go."
"Calum, I understand that it's a while for me to be gone, but this is the opportunity of a lifetime for me. It's been my dream to have this lead since I was ten. I always got overlooked growing up and now that I'm a professional I finally have a chance to live that dream. You go on even longer tours all the time. If you have all sorts of opportunities to live your dream all the time, so should I."
"That's different, it's my job to tour. If I don't tour, we lose fans. I can't just not tour. You, on the other hand, can stay at home and preform with this company within the same state. As soon as you would get home from this I'm going on a six month tour."
"That's my point. You get to go on tours, why can't I leave the state for my career? I've never been asked to dance as a guest for another company. This is big for me. Why can't you just be happy for me and consider it?"
"It's your job to stay home and take care of things back here, not mine."
"You did not just say that Calum Hood." You glare at him. Your husband was not one to stop you from your job, especially not saying something as sexist as his previous statement.
"I think I just did. You're not doing that Nutcracker and that's final."
"I can't believe you think your so-called 'final decision' is going to determine if I'm going or not. I'm going whether or not you want me to. I'm going to go take a walk and think about my decision. I'll be back in two hours. If I'm not call me." You say as you walk outside and slam the door. It was then when you made the decision to go to the studio and think it over.
Putting on some Nutcracker music always seemed to stress you out, but right now it was the only thing that you could think about. After dancing around for a bit, you realized the circumstances of the situation. If you were gone for three months and then Calum six, there would be nine months of not seeing each other. Sure, Calum was being a douchebag by demanding that you not go, but you were being pretty bitchy to him too. After some more dancing and a ton of though, you made the decision to not take the job. Admitting you were wrong about this to Calum would be tough, but it was the most logical decision. In all of the fighting, you had forgotten to tell Calum the other good news, that you were pregnant. Logically speaking, you couldn't dance a show if you were pregnant.
~
"Cal, I'm sorry. I've decided to not go." You tell him as you sit next to him on the couch. "I can't go nine months without seeing you just for some stupid role I'll get the chance to do someday in the future."
"No babe. I was wrong. I shouldn't stop you from living your dream just because I don't want you gone that long. It's not my decision what you do with your career and you shouldn't feel guilty about my feelings because this is what you want to do. If you really want to do this, you should go." Calum replies, scooting closer to you to put his arm around you.
"But Cal-"
"No buts. It's your job, so it's your decision. Don't let me tell you what to do with your dream."
"No Cal, I can't take the job."
"Why not?"
"As much as I want Russian lead, I'm pregnant. I can't dance with a baby bump."
Calum stared at you shocked for a moment before he spoke.
"You're pregnant?"
"Yeah. In seven and a half months we'll have a little baby Hood joining us." You smile.
"I'm sorry you have to give up this opportunity for this, but this is the awesome!" He shouts as he pulls you in for a giant hug.
"I'm kinda sad about the whole 'giving up my dream' thing, but I'm pretty happy about this."
 Michael
Sure, the blisters were pretty painful, but nothing could stop your excitement as you began your solo. As long as you put on some Second Skin and toe tape you could block out the pain of your pointe shoes. Besides, nothing could stop you from jumping as high and dancing as hard as you could for the audience.
Every show was different. By the time your solo started, you were able to figure out the audience and how to dance so that they would have a good reaction towards it. Some nights were harder than others. Injuries were common among dancers and you were often thrown into a new dance in their place thirty minutes before the show started when someone went down. For example, Bailey, the original dancer of this solo, had severely sprained her ankle in class before the show and you were asked to fill in. It wasn't too bad, considering the fact that you were allowed to improve for the parts you didn't know.
Everything seemed to be going great. Michael was in the crowd, you were living in the music, and the crowd was great that night, meaning you would most likely get a standing ovation at the end of the show. Every once and a while you had to maneuver your foot in a strange way to avoid worsening your blisters and the pain that accompanied it, which probably wasn't the best idea. But that didn't matter, as long as you didn't get hurt.
Just because of how responsive the audience was, you decided to do a bunch of foette turns to end the dance. After about 16, you started to lose your footing. On your 19th, you tried to go on pointe, and ended up rolling your ankle and landing on your knee really hard, causing immediate pain to roll through the left side of your body. A collective gasp went through the audience as you got up and smiled through the pain, curtsying as the song ended, and limping of stage. As soon as you had cleared the wings you collapsed on the floor, tears of pain streaming down you face at a rapid pace. There were only a few people around you, the others either on stage or keeping their distance to not overcrowd you. Everyone was asking questions, picking you up to get out of the way of everyone else and get some ice for your foot.
"What happened?" Kept being asked, not allowing you to answer as you tried to stop the tears. The pain only worsened as someone tried to untie your pointe show and take it off.
"We need to get her to the doctor." Said Shawn, one of your partners in a dance. "Y/N, you need to get out of this tutu. Kaitlyn, can you grab her clothes and basket?"
People were running all around the small backstage area, either trying to get something for you or get around you. After all, the show must go on.
Kaitlyn came back up with your things, helping you change and get you in her car to drive you to the hospital. She had to go on stage with Shawn for a pas de duex but they had decided to have her drive you and Shawn would just have to do it as a solo.
"Hey Michael . . ." Kaitlyn started as she called Michael. "So you probably saw Y/N kinda hurt herself on stage. I'm driving her to the hospital right now. As soon as you get the chance I would advise you to stop by the hospital."
"I'm leaving now. What did she do?" Michael asked, starting to worry a lot more, if that was even possible.
"Well, from what we can tell, a sprained ankle and what is hopefully a bruised knee."
"Hopefully!?"
"It could be fractured. That would be even worse. We can only hope that it's severely bruised."
"Fine. I'll be there in as soon as possible. Tell Y/N I love her."
"I will."
~
"How long are you gonna be out?" Michael asked, holding your hand as you were having your ankle wrapped.
"At least three weeks before I can go back full time. Getting back on pointe is going to take some time though." You sigh,
"I'm sorry babe. I'll take care of you 'till then."
"Thanks babe. You're the best."
"I guess I am."
Ashton
"Ashton, you and Y/N need to work on that shoulder sit some more. The show's in two days. You two need to get it together. I don't care what you have to do, even if the position is terrible, keep her up there." Your director and choreographer, Gary, says, giving out corrections after the first run through of the show for the day.
"Yes sir." You both respond, walking to the other side of the room to work on the lift, yet again. It wasn't that Ashton was a bad partner, it was just that he was still learning how to do some lifts, shoulder sits being one of them.
"Alright, ready?" You ask him, ready to work on it for what felt like the 500th time.
"I guess so." He sighs, getting in position to grab your sides and lift you up.
You ran a circle around him before steeping in front of him, jumping so that he could lift you. As usual, you were able to make it work. The problem was that you could do it right on the spot, but anytime you would do it during the dance it failed.
After Gary had finished giving corrections, he came over to the two of you. It was obvious that he was upset. The show was in two days and his leading students couldn't get a simple lift right.
"Ashton, Y/N," He starts, giving you both an annoyed look. "I see that you can do the lift now, but during the dance, it doesn't seem to happen. What's going on?"
"I honestly don't know. It's probably just being really tired by the end of the dance." Ashton replies, looking at the ground in shame.
"No excuses. You will run it back to back until you can get it at least two times in a row, preferably three."
"Yes sir."
Running that dance back to back was no easy feat, as it was five minutes long. You were constantly running, jumping or turning. It was fast paced and you never stopped moving. Long story short, you stayed three hours later than everyone else, not leaving until 1:30 that morning.
"Okay, I know it's 1:30 in the morning and you're probably really tired, but you look like you need a milkshake. I'm taking you to McDonalds and I'm buying you a milkshake." Ashton says as you lock up the studio, as Gary had left around 11:00.
"I am really tired, but I can't say no to a milkshake right now." You giggle, placing the key in your bag and heading towards your car.
"Here, just come in my car. I'll drive you back here afterwards. I'll even buy you a whole meal if that helps change your mind."
"Alright. I'm only giving in cause I'm starving." You tease, laughing when both your stomachs grumble.
"Well, get in pretty lady." Ashton teases back, getting in his rinky-dink car and driving to the nearest McDonalds.
On the way to the restaurant you talked about college; your classes, upcoming rehearsals, and life in general.
"It's funny how we're dancers and we're supposed to be watching our diets, yet we're going to McDonalds at 1:30 in the morning." Ashton comments as he pulls into a parking spot.
"I honestly don't care anymore. I just want my milkshake." You reply, grabbing your wallet out of your dance bag.
"Nope. Meal's on me." He says, swatting the wallet out your hand.
"Alright Mr. Charming. You can pay for it."
~
"Thanks for this." You say as Ashton drops you back off at the studio so you could get your car and go back to your dorm.
"Anytime. I had fun tonight, or morning. Whatever it is now."
"I had fun too. We should do this again sometime, under better circumstances of course."
"What do you mean? 1:30 in the morning is the best time to do these kind of things."
"True. Maybe next time we could go out at a more reasonable time. Like at dinner time, as a date." You mutter out nervously, hoping you hadn't over stepped the boundaries of your friendship by doing so.
"Yeah, I'd like that." He replies shyly, scratching the back of his neck.
"Then it's a date." You smile. "Bye Ash. See you Saturday."
"Bye Y/N. I'll pick you up at 6:00 on Saturday."

Music Preferences By Personality Sort
However, as our chat reveals, the discordant story does not finish there: the naturally talented Neelix attended his first doof little more than a decade ago, confesses to be sick comfortable in the studio, and plans to produce pop music in the near future. A key function of MySpace profiles makes them particularly helpful for our functions. Musicians self-selected genres for their profiles; their profiles thus record selections about how musicians deploy genres of their self-displays. They did so from a list of 122 categories: a big but manageable number, especially for self-identified musicians who likely are more keenly conscious of subtle connotations of genre labels than the general populace. Moreover, musicians could select as much as three genres. Because of this if they wished to take action, musicians may combine genres in conventional methods (e.g. Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B) or unconventional ways (e.g. Showtunes-Americana-Dying Metallic). Such genre combos represent the core of our analysis, under, as they permit us to watch the clusters into to which musicians are likely to persistently combine genres. The mainstream rock comeback will happen Joan: Vinyl data continue to increase in gross sales and popularity as a result of they sound warmer to the young person's ears. Vinyl gross sales are currently beating streaming gross sales in the UK. The digital Scandinavian middle-aged male-written pc pop music is okay for streaming but in case you count on vinyl warmth real instruments must played. People who be taught actual instruments be taught from basic rock. The corporations must discover music that matches the vinyl medium and Kesha will get her likelihood. Within the highlands of Tibet, for centuries, it was commonplace for http://doriskibble6.wikidot.com/blog:2 farmers to sing a selected form of song to their yaks. The melodies were intended to coax the yaks to provide more milk, praising the sheen of their coats and the great thing about their horns.
