[Azmuth ∞] if you want something done right, do it yourself! Azmuth's picked up the Omnitrix in this AU after a series of... unfortunate mishaps leaves him no choice but to hunt down whoever stole his inventions
Alien I: Guypedal (Human)
Azmuth has access to the master control in addition to knowing how to use all of the Omnitrix's weird functions, but is unused to the severe gap in height and intelligence when he transforms
he swaps out aliens pretty often, actually, but human is one of the mainstays
starting aliens / most common aliens
human
chimera sui generis
to'kustar
vaxasaurian
appoplexian
galvanic mechamorph
thep khufan

Ben 10 Omniverse isn't a terrible show, but it often misses its mark for the sake of comedy. And it's not even good comedy either; it's the same old "Lol. Ben's so lazy, ignorant, and irresponsible. It's a wonder how he keeps the Omnitrix at all! LMFAO" And it's like, okay, we get it. Everyone thinks Ben is a moron, but if Ben's a moron, what does that make the people who lose to him? 🤨
One of the times Omniverse misses the mark on what could have been a legendary episode akin to Adventures Time's "The Hall of Egress." It is the episode Universe v. Tennyson.
The episode about Ben going to trial for recreating the universe. Besides seeing Alien X fight, the episode doesn't make any sense. And I entirely blame writers. They did not think of the logistics of how a trial of this sort of magnitude would actually go. I wouldn't be surprised if the trial was just an excuse to see the celestialsapiens in action.
They wanted a reason to explain the different art styles and all the retcons. Which in itself is stupid. As the audience, we know why specific changes are made. They didn't need to hand-feed us retconning; it always happens.
But more to the point, the entire trial is a sham. And it pissed me off to no end!
1. Ben was never subpoenaed. Alien or not, you can't part the sky like the Red Sea and drag someone to court. You have to set an official date and time for trial, allow the defense to acquire a lawyer, and build their defense. This is basic shit, and if your excuse is that it's just a kids cartoon, that doesn't excuse bad writing.
I just can't stand when people brush over essential details.
2. Only in certain circumstances can you forcefully take a person to court. And that is if the suspected criminal is considered a danger to the public or a flight risk. And even then, it's an immediate arrest before going to court for a hearing. Ambush arrests are considered a last resort; considering Ben's positions as a plumber and wielder of the Omnitrix, Ben has little to no criminal record.
3. Due process, refering back to my earlier point, the celestial sapiens would have needed to give notice of charges, and Ben would need to be heard in front of an impartial tribunal. The entire universe is not an impartial jury. There's a reason any Rando can't walk into a courtroom and decide whether a person is guilty. What if several people aren't even aware of the trial? That could skewer the vote in favor of the Plaintiff (Celestialsapiens)
If the writers on Omniverse weren't so focused on having a hate boner for the main character, this could have been a great episode. And it is a hate boner because why else would they pick Mr. Baumann as the first witness. This dude had beef with Ben since early childhood before having the Omnitrix. His opinion is beyond biased.
Also, Rook took the first chance to air his petty grievances with Ben in front of the entire universe in a court of law, and that is beyond shitty. Ben being "ignorant of many things" isn't a proven fact; it's a personal opinion. Also, being ignorant is a crime?
And had Ben been sentenced to death or died in the trial by combat, what was the plan afterward? Rook carries Ben's body to his mother and says,
"Sorry, Ms. Tennyson, your minor child didn't have the mental knowledge and fortitude of a 50-year-old veteran; his death was totally justified. "
If Ben is ignorant of many things, it is because he is young and has only just started exploring the universe. Many toddlers should be behind bars if simply being uninformed is a crime. It's like the show constantly forgets that Ben is still young but insists on punishing him for it.
The court case is to decide whether Ben recreated the universe; his lack of knowledge and irresponsibility are not up for debate. Besides, Rook has only known Ben for a few months; I doubt that makes him a sound judge of character.
I wish they had brought different people to the witness stand. They could have made excellent callbacks by bringing characters like
Tetrax- He is literally the guardian of Omnitrix and decided that even at age 10, the Omnitrix was safe in Ben's hands. Also, the fact that Ben restores the planet Petropia can be used to defend Ben's recreation of the universe.
Reinrassig III- I'm sure the word of Highbreed Supreme would hold more weight in court than Mr. Bauman. A small store owner on a tiny planet in the far corner of the galaxy.
Queen Cicely of the Lewodan( ep. Con of Rath) - The mother of the Tiffin, you know, the baby Ben jumped down a man's throat to save. Ben broke the law by doing that but still prevented a massive war.
Magister Hulka- (ep. Basic Training) Hulka is a well-decorated Plumber and was Ben's academy instructor. Ben passed with flying colors despite disobeying orders, saving Hulka's life. He even gave Ben his medal for creativity and effective tactics. His word holds more weight than Rook Blonko's, a literally rookie in the plumber association.
Azmuth- do I even need to say anything?
Maxx and Xylene are more than familiar with the Omnitrix and Ben himself.
Paradox is literally the number one expert on the subject.
Could you imagine the cross-examination with these characters?
And even without proper character witnesses, Ben could argue that what is illegal is not always morally right.
What is the actual crime, the crime of caring too much? And if his crime is recreating the universe without prior permission. The celestialspaiens were a hidden society; how would he have gotten permission?
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
If Ben was the only living thing left after the universe was destroyed, did he really break the law since no one was there to uphold it?
Especially since he created the universe up until the very moment it was destroyed, so no time would have passed at all.
Ben's other option was leaving that universe for dead, and pulling a Rick and Morty, but he didn't do that cause he's not a sociopath.
The only angle that makes sense for this trial to happen is if it wasn't to prosecute Ben, but to send a message. The message that Celestialsapiens are not to be trifled with and that any attempts will be met with extreme prejudice and even death by combat.
The Celestialsapiens have recreated the universe multiple times, with even more drastic changes than just a smoothie flavor. I mean, Grandpa Max can't even open his eyes, and Azmuth's voice has changed several times. They literally point that out in the episode, and yet this is the first time a trial has ever been broadcasted to the universe.
In fact, this is the first time any other aliens have seen a celestialsapien save for Alien X. And even he was deemed a myth. So why now? Why the grand fan fair? Why broadcast the trial at all? They never notified the universe before.
It's because the celestial aliens were afraid for the first time since their conception. Their entire beings were briefly erased from existence and recreated, and they did not like it! Do you honestly believe that they changed anything about themselves after recreating the universe multiple times? Of course not!
But Ben doing that sent the species into a mental spiral of worry and anguish with the fear of not being completely yourself. The same curse they've placed upon the universe prior without any hint of guilt.
The trial was about establishing dominance to keep Ben from recreating the universe regardless of his reasoning. But also to prevent other aliens from attempting the same thing. That's why the trial was broadcasted through the galaxy. This was just a bunch of dick-swinging, so the celestialsapiens don't have to face any sort of actual accountability.

Ascalon Redesigns!
Tumblr media
Ive always bashed Ascalon alot (still do) but watching kuro's breakdowns i coudnt help but wonder about how cool it wouldve been if it was actually executed well
My main gripes with it is that it didnt look like technology, made no sense to look the way it does, and felt very poorly thought out overall like the lore for it was a complete afterthought
Tumblr media
As you can see here (and in my george design) Ive made ascalon alot more technological-looking and like something azmuth would actually build
So whats the deal with this device? Ascalon is a weapon that uses the incomplete DNA of powerful beings (such as celestialsapiens) to harness their power and manifest it into a superpowerful suit of armor and weapon that, if used correctly, can be used to dissect and study the fabric of reality.
This way Ascalon contrasts alot more directly to the omnitrix, being both DNA devices of sorts. And both made for the purposes of knowledge, but one is alot more destructive and obviously made for offensive purposes than the other
I gave it those weird vertical circle thingies to sort of look like the star alignment we saw in the flashbacks with Zennith. Always found it weird how that never came up and the design didnt evoke it at all apart from simply.. being long?
The armor and weapon are based off of the user and what their mind sort of understands as "combat gear." This is why it looks like a knights armor for George and how it manifests into a sword (or rather one of those cartooonishly large claymores). I tried to give it white tubes and some green dots to evoke the omnitrix more. Also slapped on a cool big cape because every robot armor should have a cape tbh. I didnt intend for that at the time but this ended up being a motif throughout the designs, finding a way to incorprate cloth into them
Tumblr media
Here we have a hypothetical design for azmuth if he were to wield it. For galvans i imagine they probably go into battle in giant mechs, so thats what his ascalon is. Gave ascalon that 1 zigzag that his staff in soto has, but tried to move away from the soto mechs design for this bc i never imagined that one was used for serious military combat
Tumblr media
In the azmuth flashbacks we saw that he gave Ascalon to an incursean warrior which is what led to their homeworld's destruction. I think DJW later said that the warrior was not an Incursean but idc !!
I drew this in the same pose that the warrior had in the shot we saw him in. Gave him the classic incursean helmet as well as some more incursean-y elements to his armor. He has a normal sword that looks more like canon ascalon's than george's (i wish i could pretend it was because hes the technical original wielder of ascalon so he gets to have the design match the canon but no it was a coincidence)
Tumblr media
We saw Vilgax wield Ascalon for a brief moment in the show so i had to! This ascalon was a very easy choice for me since i made up my mind ages before i even got the idea. Vilgax should never ever wield any sort of weapon, because hes simply strong enough on his own that he can pure muscle and brain his way out of any conflict. Brute force is his fortei, not becasue hes dumb but because he just doesnt need to do anything else. BUT if you were to give him a weapon, it shouldnt be a sword or a gun (both things UAF had lmao) it should be something like a hammer or a mace or gauntlets. Brute force sort of weapon
Vilgax is a already warlord so it was simple to work off of his canon OS design (the coolest one) and come up with an armor for him. I also took some inspirations from Eva Unit-02 for the helmet and the cape (specifically its debut where it was covered in cloth)
Of course, for ascalon i had to go with hammer. I mean his ship is called the Chimeran Hammer so you gotta! Also i think its the most fun visual with vilgax
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last but not least, the last person to wield ascalon in the show, Ben himself! I originally wasnt planning to do this, but then i got the idea of giving him these 2 designs to represent his change in mindset he has in the finale
In the beginning hes mostly influenced by how he saw george wield ascalon and stuff, and hes kinda losing it in the sauce a little. So he has an armor similar to that of goerge. Then as he remembers his friends and his humanity, he comes back down to earth (metaphorically?) and his armor itself shifts to represent this, being a mostly cartoonish armor based off ultra ben who i assume is like bens sona or something lol
The cloth is a menacing badass cape like George's, but then shifts into this sort of bubbly friendly skirt. His weapon also shifts from daggers wrapped around the omnitrix (representing using the omnitrix as a wepaon) to a shield wrapped around the omnitrix (representing using the omnitrix as a peacekeeping device)
These weapons dont actually interact with his omnitrix in anyway, theyre mostly just wrapped around it so he can still access it. The aliens would probably have george's armor but with slight changes to fit each alien better
Bonus!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My own takes on Vilcubra and Dagax
Always really really really disliked both of these designs in the show, they felt like they went through zero drafts before the final design and they just kinda did whatever (which isnt far off from how the rest of this arc was handled lol)
I tried making vilcubra look more creepy and like his body was indeed transformed to be a servant, and also closer to how the lacubras actually look so i SLASHED off his toesies and took out his eyes and put them on his shoulders so they dont look like eyes (leaving room for the teeth to overtake the face) also gave him a tail
I think the idea behind having Dagax be a floating vilcubra head vilgax was because they thought a floating normal vilgax head would look goofy (theyre right) but i think they failed to realize that the floating vilcubra head is equally goofy even if indeed you give it red eyes. So i just tried to make my design be something of a mix between the actual Dagon and vilgax
I admit i ran into some trouble trying to do that as vilgax was the OG cthulu inspired design, so trying to mix him with other cthulu presented trouble. I tried to at least slant his eyes the same way they looked in OS and give him the OS yellow spots, as well as the 2 big tentacles he has in the back of his head in OS and OV

Common Denominator
The fact that Azmuth had at least 3 known people in his life (two assistants, one lover) leave him because of his overall behavior really says more about him than his assistants.
Myaxx wasn't given credit for her part in creating the Omnitrix such as collecting DNA samples which is quite the job to do considering Ben eventually accesses 10k aliens.
Albedo is a little trickier though I think it became a "never meet your heroes" start and developed into a superiority complex because Azmuth was, for all intents and purposes, a dick and probably chipped away at any self confidence he had over time. My guess, Albedo could never seem to live up to Azmuth's standards and it hurt a whole lot when a human child was given access to one of the most powerful devices in the Universe. Does that excuse Albedo's actions, not really, but you can't help but feel bad for the guy and you kinda hope he grows into someone better.
Zennith left Azmuth because of his obsessive need to work and build something to harness the power of the Universe, i.e. Ascalon. Then he builds the Omnitrix in hopes she'd see he'd change and come back to him, except he essentially did the same thing just with a method of harnessing the power of the universe, y'know, through all the things that live there.
He was also willing to have the Universe be blown up because of his own nihilism.
I do think Azmuth has low empathy, he has trouble relating to people, but at no point has anyone pointed out that he is the common denominator for a lot of problems in the series and if they did, he doesn't take responsibility and passes the blame to everyone else. He's not enlightened, he's an ass.
Smartest being in arguable 5 galaxies, my foot!

Ben 10 Fanfic Sneak Peek
Sneak peak of a fic I'm writing for a Ben 10 AU where Greymatter's DNA donor was Azmuth's deceased son. Not the final version.
When Azmuth hears the door to his lab open, he doesn’t bother to look up. He doesn’t need to, not when there’s only two people with free access to the lab and he’s one of them. Besides, he’s got a pretty fair idea of what this is all about anyway.
“I’m leaving now.”
There it is. Azmuth’s hands do not pause, he doesn’t even look up from what he’s doing. “Is that so?”
Silence, as Meridian expects Azmuth to continue, but as the seconds stack on top of each other he finally decides to speak up.
“I came to say goodbye. It- It didn’t feel right to leave without doing that.” There’s a pause, the sound of movement, of something being placed on one of Azmuth’s many work benches. “I’m leaving you with a two-way direct communicator. The other one is with me so we can keep in contact.”
Azmuth frowns, feels like making a biting comment, but instead waves his hand dismissively. “Unnecessary. I will not need it.”
“You don’t know that,” Meridian argues. “Something unexpected could happen and you know you can always call me in case you need-”
“You appear to misunderstand,” Azmuth interrupts. “Let me phrase that differently; I won’t use it. Therefore, it’s useless to leave it here. It will just clutter the lab.”
He hears Merridan inhale sharply. “You’re impossible!” he exclaims and Azmuth can so clearly picture it in his head, the way he’s throwing his hands up in the air in agitation. He’s always been a hothead, too easy to rile up with just a few choice words. “Why can’t you even try? Or even just pretend to try? I get that you’re disappointed but I’m really doing my best to-”
Meridian stops himself and takes a deep breath, then sighs. He sounds tired. Has he been having as hard of a time sleeping as Azmuth?
“I will be going to Hathor first,” he continued after a few seconds of silence, as if Azmuth had inquired about it. “I’ve read that the southern hemisphere is beautiful this time of the year and there’s a lot of people gathering for the local festivals.”
Azmuth quickly recollects everything he knows about the planet. Hathor, homeplanet of the Splixsons. Third planet from its sun, 12 continents, covered by 67% water, axial tilt of 25.7 degrees, no natural satellites. Main export; agriculture, art and entertainment. Remarkably low criminal activity in comparison to other planets. There’s a particular dessert popular with the locals, called Sunset Wildberry Cake. A real delicacy and a must have for anyone visiting the planet.
Instead of saying any of this, Azmuth just grunts. “I see.” Even with his back turned, he can feel how Merridan is staring at him. Waiting for him to turn around. But Azmuth won’t give him what he wants.
Meridian sighs again. He does that a lot these days, as if Azmuth is the one who’s being difficult.
“I won’t be back for some time, you know?” He pauses and Azmuth has to bite his tongue to stop himself from asking when exactly he thinks he’s going to be back. “If there’s something you want to say… Well, I’m here. And I’m listening.”
For a brief moment, Azmuth considers what would happen if he turned around and actually looked at his son. Surely he would cave in then.
There’s a thousand different things he would tell Merridan. He would urge him to be careful, to take care of himself and avoid suspicious places and people. Then he would ask him if he’s packed enough supplies, if he’s brought everything he’ll need for the journey. Does he have his tool set? Has he packed those algae biscuits that he likes? There’s a hidden jar of them in the lab if he hasn’t. And is he sure he doesn’t need more credits? Azmuth would give him whatever sum he needed.
And finally, once left with no more questions, Azmuth would tell Merredin how proud he is of him. That despite their recent arguments, despite not always seeing eye to eye, that there’s not a day going by that he does not feel blessed to have him as his son. Tell him everything he’s always wanted to say but never actually told him, be it because of pride or just his inability to vocalize his emotions.
It would be easy. All he has to do is turn around.
“There’s nothing to say,” Azmuth grits out, shoulders hunched.
There’s a moment of silence, where neither of them says anything. Every second passing feels like a needle jabbing into Azmuth’s heart. Then, a quiet sigh.
“Goodbye, dad.”
Azmuth refuses to say anything, refuses to even look up. Even when the door closes behind Meridian and Azmuth’s left alone in his lab, he simply just stands there, frozen in place. He stares at his work, eyes unfocused, at his hands that have at some point stopped moving.
For some reason, he can’t find it in himself to will them into action.
The silence is deafening. It feels… strange. Uncomfortable. Whenever Merridan worked by his side, it was never this quiet. He had a habit of talking to himself, muttering under his breath when he felt stuck or exclaiming his sudden solutions out loud. Sometimes he would hum a tune, a made up little ditty as he performed some more menial tasks.
It was a silly, harmless habit that Azmuth had allowed. He had never quite realized how integral it had become to his life until now.
Finally, the silence breaks him. Azmuth tears his eyes away from his work, now forgotten on the table in front of him. He twists his head to look behind himself, as if somehow he will find Merridan still standing there, waiting, when he turns around.
Of course, there’s no one there.
His eyes focus on one of his many work benches. It’s cluttered, filled with spare parts and schematics yet he can instantly spot the communicator Merridan had left behind. He had almost expected him to take it back, the way Azmuth had rejected it. But when had Merridan ever really listened to him?
Azmuth doesn’t feel in control of his body as he moves across the lab. It feels like he’s a passenger in his own head, observing someone else move his limbs as he picks up the communicator.
It’s a flat, circular disk with a simple interface and a holoscreen projector. Turning it around in his hands, it gleams in the light of the lab. It’s been polished and Azmuth’s tired face stares back at him.
Tilting the communicator slightly, he notices an engraving on its side. Neat galvan letters, written with a laser pen.
-Till we meet again.-
With a snarl, Azmuth opens a cabinet and throws the communicator inside, slamming the door harder than necessary when he closes it. He plants both his hands on the bench and glares at the flat surface like he’s trying to set it on fire with his mind. Azmuth wishes he had claws so he could carve thick groves into it, rend it into unrecognizable pieces.
The desk remains compact.

Ben 10 HC
Azmuth supplied his own DNA for Grey Matter. It was a bit of vanity on his part, since he was looking for perfect physical and mental specimens as genetic "donors" for the Omnitrix and he was widely considered to be one of the smartest Galvans around.
