Imagine Your 2000s Teen Self Meets Future Syn 2024

"What the hell happened to this town?" You stroll through the city, marveling at its futuristic landscape. The transformation is staggering. As you navigate the bustling streets, a figure catches your eye—a man whose features seem oddly familiar. Heart pounding, you call out tentatively, "Brian?" Recognition dawns as he turns around, those distinctive eyes confirming your suspicions. "Brian!" you gasp, the disbelief evident in your voice. Despite the distance, you're certain it's him. As he turns towards you, his eyes meet yours, confirming your suspicions. The realization hits you like a wave, leaving you speechless for a moment.

You lock eyes with Syn, and his face shifts from confusion to total surprise as he realizes who you are. He walks over, giving you a hesitant smile. "Uh, is this... for real?" he stammers, eyeing you up and down. "I have no idea, but it's so freakin' cool!" you blurt out, trying to hide your nerves. Despite your excitement, you can't help but wonder aloud, "Are my eyes deceiving me, or are you standing in front of me?" Syn raises an eyebrow, clearly unsure how to react to your sudden appearance.

"I guess it is me.. This whole thing is seriously bizarre. I think I might've actually time-traveled," you mutter, recalling the science project you were tinkering with last night. "That darn radioactive microwave thingy... Someone must've messed with it without asking," you grumble, realizing the potential cause of your unexpected journey to the future.

Syn's eyes widen in disbelief as he processes your explanation. "Whoa, time travel? That's some wild stuff," he remarks, his expression a mix of fascination and concern. "Yeah, definitely not something you experience every day," you reply with a nervous laugh, still trying to wrap your head around the situation. "But hey, at least we're in this together, right?" Syn nods slowly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

"You've gotten older dude." you blurt out, quickly covering your mouth as you realize the person in front of you is not the twenty-something Syn you remember, but rather an adult version of himself. You're unsure if "dude" is still an appropriate term to use.

Syn chuckles softly, acknowledging the observation. "Yeah, time has a way of doing that," he replies with a wry smile, his tone tinged with amusement. You feel a pang of awkwardness, realizing your slip-up, but Syn's easygoing demeanor puts you at ease. "Sorry about that," you mumble, feeling a bit embarrassed. "No worries," Syn reassures you, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "It's been a while, things change." With a nod of understanding, you smile gratefully, thankful for his understanding as you navigate this unexpected reunion.

"Well, how's the future treating you? Do you have a family? A lovely wife?" you inquire, your gaze drifting downwards as you pose the question shyly.

"Well, the future's not too bad, especially now that you're here," Syn replies with a playful grin, his eyes meeting yours with a hint of flirtation. "And as for a lovely wife..." he pauses, a mischievous twinkle in his eye, "Well, let's just say, she's standing right infront of me, stuck in the wrong timeline" You feel a blush creep onto your cheeks at his flirtatious remark, realizing with a smile that he's referring to you, his lovely wife. His charming demeanor puts you at ease, knowing that you share this special connection with him.

“A lonely road crossed another cold state line. Miles away from those I love purpose hard to find. While I recall all the words you spoke to me can’t help but wish that I was there back where I’d love to be, oh yeah.”

He sat on the edge of the roof, his legs dangling over the edge, a bottle in his hand. His mind wandered to past places. He tried his hardest to forget her over the past 6 days that she’d been gone. He was certain he would never see her again.

He thought back to his time in war. However, his mind seemed to distort the memories a bit. She was there. She couldn’t have been there. The person who looked like her was her opposite, quiet and reserved. They didn’t speak much to anyone unless they needed to. They just watched everything.

He tried to clear his head. He nursed the bottle a bit then laid down on the edge of the roof. He wouldn’t fall off, he knew that for sure. He just wanted to be alone. If anyone saw him laying on the edge, they likely wouldn’t talk to him in fear of him falling off the roof.

He was surprised there was still alcohol left after how much he drank as well as the college kids, His mind wandered to his family. He missed them so much. His mom was probably disappointed in him with whatever bullshit Lundgren told everybody about Mike and him. He would give anything to be back home and tell him mom what really happened.

His cheeks felt wet and that’s when he noticed he was crying. His chest ached. He had lost too much. With a sigh, he sat up and put the bottle down.

There’s nothing here for me on this barren road. There’s no one here while the city sleeps, and all the shops are closed. Can’t help but think of the times I had with you, pictures and some memories will have to help me through, oh yeah.

His mind wandered to summer nights when he was a teen. There was this girl who would be visiting Shreveport. At first they had just run into each other and he was his usual self that made people stay away from him. However, this girl just wouldn’t leave him alone.

They were bad influences on each other. She taught him how to steal. He taught her how to hide and be stealthy. She had already “known”, but she didn’t really know. He knew how to hide and not be found; he knew how to be stealthy. It was all those skills combined that helped him during war.

Something began to dawn on him. That girl had always gone by Wolf and she had similar features to MC. He remembered her so clearly. She was so beautiful. He didn’t get to say goodbye to her before shipping off to boot camp.

Some search, never finding a way. Before long, they waste away. I found you, something told me to stay. I gave in, to selfish ways, and how I miss someone to hold when hope begins to fade.

After that young girl and Mike he never searched for anyone or anything again. There was no reason to. That was until he met MC. She was all he didn’t know he was searching for. He heard the roof door open and close.

“Go away.” He grumbled, taking a swig of the bottle in his hand. He heard soft footsteps walking towards him still. Slowly he turned and stood up. He didn’t look up to really look at the person until he was fully on his feet. He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. Standing in front of him, in all her beauty, was MC. His mouth fell open slightly. “MC…” He took a small step forward. His hand reached out towards her. “Is it really you?”

Carefully his hand caressed her cheek. The touch of her flesh made him gasp. She leaned into his caress. She reached out and pulled him into a hug. Relief filled him.

“It’s really you.” He whispered more to himself.

“It’s me.” She whispered, pulling away from the hug to look into his eyes. They were filled with relief, but also hurt. Hurt that she left. Hurt that he may never know what happened to her. She guessed the relief took over as he pulled her close once more, crashing their lips together.

“You’re alive. It’s really you. You’re here and alive.” He whispered, his voice just filled with relief and happiness.

“Did you think I would never come back, J/N?” She asked softly, running her fingers through his hair.

“No. I thought you were gone forever. I just….gave up….on everything.” He whispered, the hurt taking over now. “Why did you leave me? We could have just gone together. I could protect you.”

“I can protect myself.” She whispered softly, not trying to make him feel bad.

“Yeah you’ve proven that enough times.” He grumbled. “Let me save you sometimes. We should be a-“ He cut himself off, remembering they never actually agreed to being together. He didn’t want to call them a team when they weren’t even together. With a sigh, he pulled away from her, turning his back to her.

“What were you gonna say?” She asked, trying to reach out for him.

“Nothing, it doesn’t matter.” He grumbled, stepping further away from the woman he loved.

“You were gonna say we make a good team, weren’t you?” She asked.

“No, MC.” She exclaimed trying to get him to talk to her. He turned on her with a cold glare and did what he didn’t want to.

“You know what, MC? Why don’t you just leave me the hell alone? You seem to be real good at doing that!” he spat and walked to the roof door.

Dear god, the only thing I ask of you, is to hold her when I’m not around, when I’m much too far away. We all need the person who can be true to you. I left her when I found her, and now I wish I’d stayed. ‘Cause I’m lonely and I’m tired, I’m missing you again, oh no…once again.

He walked down to the beach, like he had done many nights while MC was gone. He went in to autopilot and did what had become a habit while MC was gone. He climbed to the highest point and just sat, staring out.

“God, I know I’ve fucked up in my life and I probably shouldn’t even cuss when praying, but don’t punish these kids for shit that I’ve done. My mom would tell me to ask for forgiveness for everything and it would all work out eventually, but I’ve been asking for forgiveness since we got stuck on this island and nothing has changed. Please, let them go. Let MC have a long and happy life.”

He paused for a second.

“Let her be okay. Even if she’s here now, I miss her so much…” He whispered, finishing his prayer off with an ‘amen’. He sat there for a while until he finished his bottle and the sun was rising. He slowly stood up and went to his hotel room. When he woke up, he felt a body in his arms. He opened his eyes to find MC. Part of him was yelling at him to push her away and not let this happen because she would just leave again. He decided to go with his heart instead, pulling her as humanly close as possible.

“I love you, Jake. I’m not ever leaving you again.” She whispered softly. He felt almost as if his heart stopped after hearing her say she loves him.

“I love you, too, MC.” He whispered, breathing in her sweet scent before falling asleep once more.

Not really? Two of my fics crossover, but they’re both in the same DC Universe so I don’t think that counts.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Nope.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I don’t have any posted, yet, but I do write it. The kind depends on the fic and the character perspective I’m writing in. Sometimes it’s more vague, some scenes focus more on the emotion of the moment, and others are more graphic.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I’m not even sure how to answer that. Out of all the fandoms? I definitely can’t choose. Out of my current fics? My all-time favorite ship is probably Grace Blackburn (OFC) and Eliot Greenwood (OMC), from my BTVS fic Things Are Getting A Little Hazy. Their relationship is practically destined.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

My band fic, Soundtrack Of The Revolution. It’s planned out, all 400 chapters of it, but I’ve been working on it for a decade. I’m not giving up, but we’ll see if it ever gets completed.

What are your writing strengths? What are your writing weaknesses?

Someone who’s read my stories would have to tell me my strengths, because I have no clue. I just ramble sentences onto a word document and hope that it makes sense. My weaknesses would probably be my descriptions. I overly describe things and occasionally go off on tangents, which causes my chapters to be ridiculously long. I consider that to be a weakness.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I try not to do it, because I’m only fluent in English, but I will write dialogue in another language with the help of Google Translate. If I get it too wrong, hopefully someone will correct me. When I can though, I prefer to just mention that the character is speaking in another language without having to actually write the other language because I don’t want to butcher it.

What was the first fandom you’ve written for?

This question hurts my soul. The very first fandom? It would have to be a band fic, probably Avenged Sevenfold, way back in about 2006. Thankfully, all of those fics have been lost to time and will never be read by anyone ever again. Knowing that helps me sleep at night.

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

This is such an unfair question, because how do I pick just one? My favorite fic, that I have personally written, isn’t posted under this name so it’ll have to remain a mystery. My favorite fic that I’ve written under this name, has to be Soundtrack Of The Revolution. Yes, it’s a band fic even though those stopped being popular over a decade ago. I also realize the irony of my favorite fic being the fic that I'm not sure if it'll ever be completed. It’s the most self-indulgent fic that I have ever written, and I’ve been working on it off-and-on since 2009. Seeing how it’s changed and what has remained the same over the years is mind-blowing, and I truly love the story and the characters. So, yeah, it’s my favorite.

You Should Have Known the Price of Evil {Zacky Vengeance x Demon!Reader}

Requested by: Anonymous Wordcount: 1708 Sequel to: Creeping in my Soul. Summary: After hearing some horrible news about a fan of your boyfriend’s band, you take action.

It was the last show of the tour, so obviously you were going to be there. The big after-parties, the celebrations, the final meets and greets with the fans, the packing up of everything, the final hurrah before everyone went home to pass out for a week. And you were going to be there to take care of them. They ended in California, so you were able to drive over and share in Zacky’s room for the night. Hiding your horns beneath an Avenged Sevenfold beanie, you snuck your way in backstage. All it took was making eye contact with security to get you in. Damn being a demon had it’s benefits. No having to wait around for someone to recognize you and let you in - with how busy things were, it could have taken ages. You just walked right on in, your tongue flicking against your sharp canines, used to the taste of your blood by now.

“Meet and greets, this way,” A woman said to you. Alright, given your attire, you probably looked like some sort of super fan. Wearing the merch in the form of a ripped up band t-shirt and your beanie. You didn’t oppose her. Zacky knew you were coming but this would still be a funny surprise. You fell in line with the rest of the people - mostly teenagers, you noticed. You were behind a pretty girl with long dark hair, the glossiest chocolate shade you had ever seen. You tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around.

“Hi!” You said, enthusiastically. “Sorry, I just gotta say - you have amazing hair.”

She blushed a darker color than you thought you had ever seen anyone go before. What, did people not give compliments anymore? “Thanks,” She muttered. “That’s really nice of you.”

“Hey, I’m just saying what I’m thinking,” You said, noting that something was wrong. Like maybe she didn’t believe you. Hmm. “I know I’m a total stranger and this is weird but - are you alright?”

Your words had power. A demon’s manipulation, a way to get the truth - which was something that Zacky had learned to stop hiding when you wormed it out of him that he indeed was the one who finished off your chocolate stash. Just asking that, it got the girl blabbering.

“I feel awful because I had to sneak out of my house to come here today. I almost didn’t come. My dad - he told me that they would hate if I came for the meet and greet. That no one would want to meet me. It’s just a waste of time. Do you - do you think that it’s a waste of time?”

“Your own father said that?” You said, your eyes widening. Sure, you had your own problems with your father since he didn’t tell you that you were actual demon spawn, but at least he never put you down like that.

“Oh god, that makes it true, doesn’t it?”

“Oh honey, no,” You said, shaking your head. “What’s your name?”

When she told you, the last name was familiar to you - and you made a note of it because wasn’t it your job as a demon to punish the wicked? “I should go,” The girl said after admitting this to you, wiping tears out of her eyes, trying not to mess up her eyeliner.

“Yeah - you’re going to come with me,” You said, shaking your head. No, her father wasn’t right at all. And you were going to prove that to her, first and foremost. The same woman who had told you to get in line started screeching like a bird but you nudged your way past her, beckoning for the girl to follow. She looked a little uncomfortable doing so but she did regardless. You went right past the table where things were set up like posters and CDs to sign, and went up to the door that lead to backstage. You knocked on it loudly. “Hey, open up, it’s me, y/n,” You called out.

The door swung open and you were greeted by Matt and a large hug. His chest was so big, even you had trouble breathing when he caught you in one of those bear embraces. “Y/N!” He said, excited. “We’ve been waiting forever. Zack was starting to get impatient. You get here alright?”

He was always like a big teddy bear, even after finding out your secret. You couldn’t hide it forever from Zacky’s best friends. And they all took the news surprisingly well. Of course they did. They were metal musicians. The fact that they knew a demon was fucking rad.

“Yeah, traffic was a bit of a nightmare but I managed," You said, leaving out that you had been mistaken for a fan and forced to wait in line. “And this is my new friend Sarah. She’s a very special gal so make sure that you take care of her, alright?"

“Uhh yeah, sure,” Matt said, his face turning to one of confusion. “You’re not coming in?”

“I’ve got some things to do,” You said, tapping your tongue against your fangs while Sarah was busy looking up at Matt, unable to believe she was so close to him. You understood that feeling really well. “Tell Zacky I’ll meet him in the room? Sorry I’m gonna miss the show but I know you’re going to kick ass.”

“Yeah, alright, good luck,” Matt said, giving me a salute and then escorted Sarah through the door, it closing shut behind him. You had my phone out as you walked past the bewildered assistant, and walked on out of the venue. A quick google search gave you a name. Another one gave you an address. I headed over to your car - goddamn LA was such a rough city to drive in but it would still be faster than walking, hopefully.

Okay, so maybe sneaking into a building where codes were needed for entire floors like some sort of villain lived up there wasn’t the easiest, or even the smartest thing to do. But you were a demon on a mission. Punishing the evil was part of your job description, and oh, this bastard was going to get PUNISHED. You maneuvered through some vents, feeling like Bruce Willis in Die Hard, only he probably didn’t have the problem of horns getting stuck through the metal, making you wince and have to keep spending time maneuvering your head to pull them out.

But you eventually made it through, a little dusty, a bit worse for wear but you dropped into a cushy looking office. A picture of Sarah, a fake smile obvious on her face, with an older looking gentleman behind her, was the focal point of one of the walls. It made you cringe. So the guy tears his daughter down on a daily basis and has the nerve to put a picture up like he’s proud of her? For what? To seem normal in front of his co-workers?

Yeah, that wasn’t going to last long, you snorted. You saw his laptop sitting on his desk, just begging to be broken into. You could even hear it now. ‘Open me, y/n! Think of all the things we can do to destroy him!’

“Don’t mind if I do,” You said, sitting in the large leather chair and did a spin on it. Pretty nice chair, you need one like this for your home office. Then you opened the thing, stretched out your fingers and did a little digging to get the password and opened up everything.

There were some interesting things in there. Plenty that wasn’t. Work stuff. Spreadsheets. Timetables. Blah blah blah. And then oh!

Jackpot.

Emails between him and his daughter, where atrocious things were said. No really, you could get nasty sometimes but this guy - he was a piece of work. Well, you were taking some screenshots of that one. And oh, what was this on the calendar?

The company newsletter was going out in the morning?

Might as well make some adjustments to that then. There was brand new news that needed to go out. Found the document. Added some pictures. Moved some things around. And pressed the send button. Sure, it was going out a bit early but - breaking news wasn’t going to wait for a time schedule. You sighed contently, leaned back in the chair, put your feet up on the desk with your ankles crossed and rested a moment before you’d be making your way out of there.

It ... it kind of got out of hand, which was something that you weren’t expecting. So the guy was a bigger deal than you thought that he was - and the newsletter leaked out of the office and out to the press.

Oopsy daisy?

The girl was on the news, family portrait and all. Apparently the mother was filing for a very vicious divorce after seeing the emails on her daughter’s own computer, double checking for proof that this wasn’t just some ridiculous prank. Nope, it was very real. There was going to be a custody battle and everything. The wife was doing interviews on the television. The father was getting hounded by the paps, and was being followed about by his lawyer. The girl didn’t have much to say but - there was a new look in her eyes. A new sort of confidence.

“She looks familiar,” Zacky said, coming up behind you, putting his arms around you to see what you were watching, carefully avoiding the horns on your head.

“Does she?” You asked, as innocently as possible.

“Yeah,” He said, eyes narrowing, trying to figure it out. You turned your head so you could see that little A-Ha moment go on when he figured it out. “What did you do?”

“What needed to be done.” You shrugged. “She opened up to me, Zack. And I wasn’t going to let him get away with it, not for another night.”

“You did the right thing,” He said with a nod. “I’m proud of you.”

“Thanks babe,” You said, turning off the TV. Maybe now would be a good time to do a little something ... naughty to appease the inner demon after doing such a good thing.
