WEDNESDAY WORD OF THE DAY
Octothorpe /ˈäktəˌTHôrp/ noun: Another name for the pound sign (#). AKA hashtag, AKA number sign.
I kind of like the sound of octothorpe over hashtag. Hashtag word of the day. Octothorpe word of the day. See what I mean?
Kitten's mom was a little tiny bit better yesterday though she's been giving the nurses a hard time at night. We'll see if physical therapy can help lift her from her funk.
On the way home we stopped by my favorite burger joint here, Boba Burger. They are inside of a bowling alley and have a cult following for their Asian fusion menu.
Kitten got a regular burger and I had the BBQ Lechon burger. Lechon is roasted pork, and it went perfectly with the burger. It also had barbecue sauce and an onion ring on it. Octothorpe delicious.
Their Seoul burger is my favorite though. It has egg, kimchi, and kalbi-glazed bacon. Drool. Next time I'll try their Hawaiian burger (with teriyaki glazed pineapple, grilled Spam, and sriracha mayo), and then I'll start on their hot dog menu.
Or maybe I'll start with the dogs. Their Tokyo dog is tempura fried with wasabi mayo, nori, pickled vegetables, and sriracha ketchup. Octothorpe yum.
I think it's time to put the bike together. I need to ride. Octothorpe spring is here.
Now if you'll excuse me I have shit to do. Octothorpe spring cleaning.
I love you, baby. You make me purr. Octothorpe precious.
Y'all have a great day.

I want to know you're go-to orders for the coffee shop and for takeout <3 xoxo how you're doing well!!
I love talking about food 💕
I don’t get it often, but when I used to go to Starbucks I’d get the cold brew with the salted caramel cold foam and just 1 pump of vanilla, but add two pumps of toffee nut syrup. If it’s any other coffee shop I try to find something that’ll have more of a balance between the coffee and the flavor. I’d really prefer a spiced chai over anything but the only place where I could get it made right was the coffee shop on my college campus
Mexican — Steak fajitas with extra chips and salsa, guacamole if I know it’ll be good
Chinese — Pork lo mein with the round noodles, egg roll, and crab rangoon are all staples, and then I’ll vary the other entrées and sides
Vietnamese — Beef phở with extra bean sprouts, cilantro, and limes. Fried dumplings if they have them
Barbecue — This always depends on which style of barbecue you’re getting from which restaurant, but when my favorite local place was still open my go-to was two fried catfish fillets, fried okra, and burnt ends. They also had a gator sauce aioli that went well with the fish
Pizza Hut has my favorite buffalo wings, but I am not a wealthy man so I can’t indulge in them often. They used to have the best chicken alfredo pasta but their recipe has changed and I don’t like it 😒 I used to get that with a breadstick seasoning on top. Recently one of my favorite pizza combos has been a five topping pepperoni, Italian sausage, onion, jalapeño, and pineapple with extra sauce. I love me some Little Caesar’s pizza too tho
I’ve never had bad Indian or Greek food so I’ll get something I’ve never had before when I’m going somewhere new; there aren’t any local places so I have to drive to the city if I want anything of the North African/Mediterranean/southwest Asian variety. I love gyros though, I’ll get those any chance I can. Lamb and beef with extra tzatziki and chili-garlic paste
If it’s any American or Italian take-out, I don’t have any go-to’s, I just get something I can’t easily make at home. I love burgers, hot sandwiches, and pastas to no end, and not to sound like a total American but I had the best stuffed French toast of my life at a Cracker Barrel

Can I ask what the hell does Darius eat when nearly all the best food in the world has some form of tomatoes in it?
Lots of meat in his diet, seasoned usually with black pepper, chilli flakes, salt, ginger, garlic etc. Red meats, a lot from hunts when the seasons are right, but some turkey and chicken thrown in too.
The veggies he does eat are bell peppers, chilli peppers, celery, lettuce, carrots, peas, onions, potatoes, and generally other root veggies. He might have a salad with some cucumbers thrown in every once in a while. Some string beans, too.
He's a fan of noodles and will happily slurp up most Eastern Asian meals and South East Asian meals you put in front of him (especially if it has pork).
He's been on holiday to New Orleans once and now also craves gator burgers. Shit slapped.

friendly asking idiot here! what’s YOUR favorite food this time? :D (don’t have to answer if u don’t wanna <3!!)
I don't know if I have any ONE favorite food, to be honest. I like a lot of things. XD I'll see if I can pick out a few key favorites... We eat a LOT of steak at my house. And I do mean a LOT. There are multiple reasons why, but it just is the way it is. Thankfully, I happen to LOVE steak, so I rarely get tired of it. Chicken Parmesan is a grand creation. I also like various forms of chicken from Asian-themed restaurants, like Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Teriyaki. I like sweet and sour chicken, too, but I ESPECIALLY love sweet and sour pork. One of my absolute favorite things in the world is Peking duck, but I very, VERY rarely get to have it, for several reasons. Bacon is definitely up there. I like it on burgers and sandwiches, in burritos, wrapped around a delicious Filet Mignon or Chicken Drumsticks, sprinkled onto various forms of cooked potatoes, in soup...just bacon, in general, is something I adore. BBQ Ribs are another favorite dish of mine. If you haven't guessed yet, I'm sort of a carnivore. My apologies to those who are not. I'm mad about mashed potatoes...PROVIDED they are REAL mashed potatoes. Like, that store bought stuff you get in a can, or something in a TV dinner? FIE ON SUCH RUBBISH, I SAY! Even a lot of restaurants tend to have sort of "meh" mashes. If they're done well, though, I absolutely freaking LOVE them. In terms of desserts and sweets...my favorite candies are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Red Licorice. As far as the licorice goes, it has to be REAL red licorice: not Twizzlers or Red Vines. That stuff is a bland disgrace to the candy. No, give me Wiley Wallaby's, Darrell Lea, or Lucky Country. The Australian-styled stuff. That's the BEST. My favorite ice cream is good old-fashioned Cookies & Cream. I also love my (currently) still-surviving grandmother's homemade chocolate creme pie. It is glorious and I can never have enough of it. ^^

Take a Taste: with Lugaw Sisig from Mang Boy Alfredo Lugawan Restaurant [Recorded: Feb 18th, 2023]
Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.
And today, I'm reviewing this hot-served Lugaw Sisig from Mang Boy Alfredo Lugawan Restaurant! 😊 How's it taste? Let's find out! 🤔
If you haven't seen my previous episode, then please [CLICK ME!].
So, without further ado, let's get started:
1st to 3rd Image(s): ↑
• So, we're here at the gorgeous Mang Boy Alfredo Lugawan Restaurant! Where they opened 24 hours of eating Lugaw soup (or any dish that they offered) by customers, like us! This is actually, my first time (or our first time) to stepped in during night time. And we all know, that we love eating restaurant at night time! 😋🥣🌙
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4th & 5th Image(s): ↑
• Such the case, with this delicious "Lugaw Sisig" that I've ordered. By the way, I'm with my family & my related aunt (or "Tita") for a special dinner night! 😁
• Anyways, the cost of "Lugaw Sisig" is ₱119 ($2.16). Mmmm, this lugaw look scrumptious! The combination of sizzling sisig mixed with warm rice porridge! 🥣😋 (along side with common toppings)
• And yes, the word "Lugaw" is a type word for Asian porridge. So, let's dig in! 😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6th & 7th Image(s): ↑
• Here's my spoon scooping on two different toppings. The first is the sisig toppings, then next is the boiled egg! Yum-yum! 😋 The fusion dish is fantastic, at the same time, its a bit spicy thanks to the sisig's signature recipe! And the presentation look great on the bowl, I love it! 🥰 Have some, you two! Let's finish this bowl.😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8th & 9th Image(s): ↑
• Minutes later, we're all done! Thankfully, they offered us a manual service of drinking water to wash out our meal! 💧😊
Overall:
• It's a unique dish, on what could be otherwise, a normal porridge topped with sizzling meal that Filipinos/Filipinas know in love. Will I ordered it again? Absolutely! 😁 However, I want a try other menus that they offered from this lugawan (porridge) resto establishment. And my paper dolls completely agrees.😊
Well, that’s all for now, If you haven’t seen my previous episodes, then I’ll provide some links down below.↓😉

I grew up in my home state 'Delhi', the National Capital Territory of India also known as 'Dilli dil walon ki", which has some lip-smacking food. From your chatpata street food to budget-friendly to fine dining. I Will be sharing my top 5 of my favourites and not-so-known restaurants and cafes that you can visit with your family, friends and loved ones in the Delhi capital.
Lha Kitchen:
Tumblr media
Lha Kitchen focuses on 4
different cuisines-Tibetan, Nepalese, Bhutanese and Chinese. This place has 22 varieties of momos veg/non-veg. Other than momos they have some interesting Tibetan butter tea, mushroom Datsi and Tin Mo.
I tried their Chicken shape Which had a crispy outer layer with chicken filling inside. Make sure to enjoy spicy chutney which will make you crave more. Next, I ordered
Sandekho Momos or I should say 'Momos ki chat', was extremely flavourful and chatpata.
Location: 168,1st floor, Humayunpur, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, Delhi 110029
Cost for 2: Rs 600 /-
Paul, Vasant Kunj:
Tumblr media
Paul has 2 outlets all over Delhi, one is in Vasant Kunj ambience mall, and the second one is in Gurgaon Ambience mall. If you want to eat and dine in an authentic European way with world-class service then Paul should be on the top list. I love eating their fish and chips, Chicken burgers, and pizza. If you are a coffee lover then don't forget to try their coffee.
Location
Vasant kunj: UG-28A, Ambience Mall, Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj, Delhi 110070
Gurgaon: G-1 , Ground Floor ,Ambience Mall, Sector 24, Gurugram, Haryana 122022
Cost for 2: Rs 1400/-
YooMee
Tumblr media
If you love Pan- Asian Cuisine along with Japanese Manga comic strips. Enjoy with Ramen, Sushi and yummy Dim Sums then this place should be on the top list of yours. By far this is the only place in Delhi I am aware of, where I have tried Veg sticky rice (and I love it that). This place has won my heart in terms of price, quality and quality.
Fun fact- this is the first place where I tried sushi for the first time, and my experience was just amazing.
My personal Recommendations are Konjee crispy lamb, Crunchy chicken dumpling,
Char siu pork belly, Tom Yum soup veg
Location: E Block Rd M27, Ground Floor, Block M, Market, Greater Kailash, New Delhi, Delhi 110048
Cost for 2: Rs 900 to 1000
CHÔ Vietnamese Kitchen & Bar
Tumblr media
It is a very chic and classy Vietnamese restaurant with a warm light and camping vibe. They offer some lip-smacking Dimsums, pho and fish. Honestly, everything I tasted was mind-blowing and impressive. I don't want to spill all the beans so go and experience the warm hospitality, Visually touching presentation and of course the yummylicious food. My personal Recommendation:
Firecracker chicken
Turmeric chicken chili dumplings
Chicken pho
Turmeric fried rice
Cha cha sizzling fish
Vietnamese curry chicken
Location: H 5/1, FF LHS Kalkadass Marg, Mehrauli, New Delhi
Cost for 2 : Rs 3000 with Alcohol

ok hello friends I'm finally ready to be normal again after extensive jet lag and also being a million years behind in chores
korea 2022 reflections! (long)
overall, I had such a good trip! I was so lucky to have jenny @madame-anaca as my travel partner who is a total gem to travel with and also like my jaeger pilot match in terms of being chill vs. flexible vs. responsible vs. down to do things on a trip
it's been....20 years......since I've been back in the motherland and it was such an experience to come back as an outsider with my now-american passport and rusty korean but it was also a lot of fun!!! we did so much!!! we ate so much good food!!! I wish I had like 3 more weeks to spend there bc there's just So much
highlights:
hangeul museum my beloved. lots of other museums too but as someone with a definitely normal amount of thots and feelings about the korean alphabet this one was definitely my favorite! I maybe almost didn't not cry at several points in the museum, 😭😭
Tumblr media
food....esp street food....I ate so well the entire time I was there (more on this below)
hallasan, and jeju island in general. beautiful seascapes! tangerine picking! such good seafood! this is me halfway up our 5-hour hike, before our legs decided to betray us and fuck off into misery
Tumblr media
palaces and culture villages in seoul! dressing up in hanbok! not to be annoying but there were about 50000 points throughout our tour where I did stop to be like "hey I think I saw that building in a drama once"
also our hanboks were so cute and we saw a bunch of other people (both koreans and westerners) wearing them, some even matching, which was very cool to see!
Tumblr media
despite being somewhat forced into it bc of Weird Family Dynamics it was kind of nice to spend time with family I haven't sen in a while, even though I'm not really close with most of them at all
it was v awkward bc my korean isn't quite at the level where I can like. Assert Opinions and Participate in Adult Conversations meaningfully so there was a certain amount of polite smiling and nodding I had to do as I was lectured about how I had to make investments to be more financially successful or how I needed to look out for good men to marry or whatever the fuck, but you know. I also got to hang out with my older (still younger than me) cousins which is always nice
also all 3 of my aunts and uncles on my mom's side took turns inviting me over to their houses and treating me to dinner, which I can't complain about, esp considering some of them are like. incredibly loaded and had super fancy apartments
like. my oldest uncle apparently lives in the same apartment complex as IU. fucking IU,
anyway
food . . .
I had bbq like at least 5 different times on my trip. lmfao. jeju black pork 5-layer pork belly ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media
waited in line for like an hour for michelin approved naengmyeon and it was SO good holy shit. it was hot as balls the entire time we were in korea and it was so refreshing and perfect and well seasoned and good
fast food & street food!!!! chapssal donuts, garlic nurungji dakgangjeong, bindaetteok fresh out of the fryer, multiple different kinds of hotteok, hodugwaja, gyeranppang, sikhye........also chimaek ofc, and the bulgogi burger at mcdonald's. chefs kiss.
korean cafes and bakeries......deserve their own bullet point.......I ate so many sweets.....drank so much many good coffee and coffee-adjacent drinks........I will def miss the flavors of black sesame, injeolmi, sweet potato, sweet pumpkin, chestnut, and sweet red bean everywhere,,,
Tumblr media
even the convenient store food...so good. not only onigiri (my beloved) but also I tried both the egg & potato salad versions of the inkigayo sandwich and they slapped. also a honey garlic egg salad sandwich that I'm going to have DREAMS about
also snacks!!!! 꼬깔콘 flavored pepero and 죠리퐁 lattes were two of my favorites but also injeolmi turtle shells....honey butter dried sweet potatoes......bottled asian bear juice......peach and green grape flavored beverages.....hello.......
things that did NOT go as planned:
I was so excited to see the death note musical with possibly the original cast (hong kwang ho/junsu) which just HAPPENED!!! to have been brought back for like a month!!!!! exactly the time that I would be in korea!!!!! but they ended up being completely sold out on the only day I would have been able to go, RIP 🥲🥲🥲 I would have reserved ahead of time but the ticketing website is a NIGHTMARE to use for foreign visitors so I was banking on being able to buy tickets on site but nope,
speaking of performances I missed, rolling quartz was supposed to do their first solo concert last week and I was gonna go but my family decided that actually, I'm going to be spending time with them instead so I was forced to miss it lmao 🙃🙃🙃
just in general, a lot of individual things on our trip were closed or modified due to COVID, not that it severely impacted our trip but we really had to both plan carefully and be prepared to change plans if something doesn't work out last minute
but other things that DID go super well:
as a consolation for not being able to go to death note my uncle bought me and my cousins tickets to the korean production of next to normal which was AMAZING, I forgot how much I loved this musical
Tumblr media
I had to keep myself from sobbing bc I could tell my cousins were not as into it as I was. lmfao. but inside I was feeling every single emotion by the final scene
man. I'm still over the moon that I got into oneus's the show prerecording. I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the studio unfortunately but it was a treat to watch! now that I kind of know what I'm doing I'm gonna have to look out for other opportunities to watch music show recordings next time I'm in seoul
speaking of oneus they also happened to be doing this promotional event at this themed popup cafe thing in myeongdong?? it was cute, there were a bunch of little stations with activities and things, and videos/posters/photos displayed throughout. I ordered some snacks and they gave me these little cards with seoho's and ravn's faces on them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just like. in general. seoul is a good place to be as a hallyu fan lmao.....like bless jenny for putting up with me stopping to point out when a song I liked was randomly playing or an actor/idol I liked was on an advertisement or something. which happened, and I cannot emphasize this enough, a lot
also with a little bit of digging I did manage to find (the otherwise sold out) lightsticks for both oneus and dreamcatcher in some random merch stores 😌😌 for way cheaper than what I would have paid on ebay not even including shipping 😌😌😌 I'm going to the dc concert in SF in july so I am PUMPED to be able to use this bad boy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean look at this thing. it's beautiful. and it even came with the extension rods so I can make it stupidly long like this. does this not fucking rule
anyway I miss seoul a lot and I want to go back immediately, I've already talked about going at some point with my mom and brother and I cannot wait

helloo i've been travelling all day. we're on our way to my family's cottage in the woods! we stopped for a while in norrtälje which is the last big town before you're officially in the countryside :)
we had lunch at this asian fusion place and i had a poke bowl with tuna and sriracha mayo + bunch of veggies and stuff! it was delicious! my wife had a burger called fat bastard it had beef and pulled pork, cheese, onion rings, bacon and truffle mayo+side of fries. after that we went to an ice cream place and i got 2 scoops of my favourite ice cream: saffron honey. literally no ice cream flavor is better. we sat next to the small river (idk what it's called but it's called å in swedish) AND WE SAW SO MANY BABY DUCKS 😭🌊🦆 (me watching the ducklings swim around)!!! then after that we went grocery shopping and missed our bus so we waited for the next one at a bar where we shared an elderflower cider.
we met up with my mom and now we're on the bus from norrtälje that goes all the way out to the cottage. it takes an hour and a half and it's a beautiful ride. the scenery is so lovely <3 it feels so nice getting out of the city for a bit!!
we're grilling some sausage for dinner once we arrive and then we're either playing red flags or going to the lake for an evening dip. or maybe we'll do both.
hope everyone is having a good monday! hugs and kisses to you all! if you want them. otherwise a high five!

Asian - Banh Mi Burgers Sesame oil and ginger-flavored grilled pork burgers are topped with a marinated cucumber and carrot pickle mixture. Ahead of time, the cucumber pickle mixture is prepared and marinated. For a treat reminiscent of southeast Asia, the burgers are placed on sesame seed buns.

👩‍🍳 I made the tastiest chicken & vegetable dish today with my new favorite secret ingredient - Asian Spice from @spicedupseasonings! Chef Calvin's Spiced Up Seasonings are my new favorite way to enjoy the foods I love in a healthier and tasty way! The Asian Spice is delicious on any meat. It made my chicken and vegetables taste authentic and amazing! It's a sweet & savory combo of bold East Asian flavors including scallions, sesame seeds, soy, ginger, pepper, and citrus.
👩‍🍳 The other Chef Calvin’s Spiced Up Seasoning Blends I got to try were The House Blend and 2 No grill required BBQ rubs *Spicy Style BBQ Rub and the Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Rub. They're all delish but my favorite of all is the Asian Spice! These seasonings make great gifts for anyone who wants to add flavor without the labor to burgers, steaks, pork, #chicken, #veggies, and more! You can find them at https://spicedupseasonings.com/collections/all

21 Weird McDonald's Burgers
Tumblr media
The one thing that was consistent at McDonalds was the food. All McDonalds served the same range of burgers, wraps etc. So where ever you go you have a familiar friendly menu right. Erm, no actually it isn't. The fact is that McDonalds tailors many of its menus to suit the local market. There is no point for instance going heavy on the beef in India. Much of the population are Hindus who consider the cow a sacred animal. In fact in some parts of India it is illegal to sell beef. So lets look at some of the wonderful and weird McDonald burger options that you probably haven't seen before. Maharaja Mac Maharaja Mac This is the result of selling into a market that consider your main ingredient to be sacred. Well, not exactly the beef, but the cow that donated in. So in the Indian market, McD's replaced the beef with chicken. The Benedict Bagel Benedict Bagel Take a strip of bacon, a slice of cheese, a nicely rounded egg, a lashing of Hollandaise sauce, and stick it inside a bagel. What you then have is a sort of eggs Benedict. Available in the New Zealand market. Japanese Black Burger Japanese Black Burger If you want weird food then go to Japan. Between eating stuff that is raw, deadly, still alive, there is also stuff that is black. This Big Mac replacement is made using squid ink, to give it that look. Add some spicy sauce and cheese and you have something that looks like its crawled out of halloween. Of all the weird McDonald's burgers, this is the wierdest. Maine Lobster Roll Maine Lobster Roll High end food like lobster isn't something you normally associate with a low rent burger joint like McD's. However in certain markets such as Maine, and indeed at one time in Italy, they have short term specials. One such example was the McLobster. McArabia McArabia The McArabia, is available across the Arab world, and Pakistan. Two chicken patties, salad and tahini sauce, folded into a flat bread. To be fair it isn't much different to a chicken sandwich, other than the choice of bread. McRice McRice The McRice, available across the Philippines, pretty much starts out as a regular burger or chicken sandwich. Where it deviates, is in the bun. Or lack of a bun to be accurate. These are sandwiched between two slices of toasted rice. Shrimp Burger Shrimp Burger Across some of its Asian markets, Maccy D's have replaced the beef with shrimp. Not all the beef we hasten to add, they still sell burgers, but this is an additional line. Shrimp ground up and made into a pattie, sweet chilli sauce and a corn dusted bun. Pizza Mac Pizza Mac Many people love burgers, and also love pizza. So our teutonic friends, with their world renowned efficiency, combined the two. A big mac inside a pizza bun. Pork Samurai Pork Samurai If you fancy a trip to Thailand, you can indulge yourself in a pork samurai. As typical McDonalds fare such as beef isn't as common in the country, they have switched to pork. Teriyaki sauce, lettuce and mayo completes the ensemble. Nurnburger Nurnburger Another teutonic offering. Bratwurst sausages with mustard and onions. This one only had a brief run, but hey, nothing wrong with bratwurst.
