What The Bible Doesn’t Say

Quote
We also, bearing in mind our own frailties, may yet remember this for our own encouragement: that though we may have denied our faith over and over again, more often than St. Peter and, like St. Peter, with an oath, we have never wholly abandoned it. However blindly and feebly, we still hold on to those great principles that sprang from the eternal standard of values; and when it came to the point, with much distress of mind, with much searching of heart, we were yet willing to die for them.

The Motivation of a Christian (Acts 4:1-12)
What motivates you?
The Great Sanhedrin (Jewish ruling council) by Edouard Moyse, 1868 The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in…

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. -2 Peter 3:9
I had always thought that it says The LORD is not slackening concerning His promises. But it actually says His promise, singular not plural. And this promise is of His coming according to verse 4 of chapter 3. And clearly if you look at the context its talking about the end and the day of the Lord. I had always thought that the promises of God over my life is what Peter is talking about which is clearly not the case.

Character progression and regression
2 Samuel 11:1-12:31, Psalm 71:1-8, Acts 4:1-22
After Peter and John heal the beggar, they get arrested by the jewish leaders and tried in the same court that Jesus was. Jesus was often cagey and cryptic in his claims about himself, but Peter has no such hesitations. In his speech he claims that Jesus is God, claims the authority of ancient prophecy, suggests that they are on trial for healing someone, says that Jesus is the only way anyone can be saved, and accuses his judges of murder. He's not denying Jesus any more.
This is one of the main apologetic proofs of Christianity, that the people who were Jesus closest friends went to trial countless times and 11 out of the 12 disciples (including Mathias and not Judas) died for their claims about him. It is a cult of personality, perhaps, but it is distinct from most other cults of personality in that it did not grow huge while its founder was alive. Many cults have come and gone because their savior spoke compelling words and then died and the followers scattered. Christianity wasn't like that.
The old testament story of David and Bathsheba is also worth mentioning. It's awful but I think it's notable that when I heard it growing up it was always framed as, "David killed a guy and took his wife." Even Nathan's story he tells to get David to admit to his sin is framed in this way. The wife is compared to a sheep that some guy owns. (It is important to note that in the story the guy really loves the sheep.) David sexually assaulted the woman and had her husband killed. The story implies she had no choice in the matter. Afterwards she remains his wife. Not only that, her son is killed for this sin. Almost no focus at all is given to Bathsheba and her experience of all of this.
I've already asked at length what stories like this are doing in the bible. It's pretty clear that this story is told to give context to David's life. He was known as a perfect guy but here is a time he did a horrible thing. I really don't know what we can learn beyond that. Our cultural lens gives us the luxury of critiquing the biases of the day, but I think it's a notable and good thing that our holy book tells stories about our holy kings that are critical.

Shavuot/Pentecost/Feast of Weeks, 5783/2023
The Law was given on Mount Sinai roughly 1,500 years before Christ. Nation Israel honored this holiday every year. Eating and drinking dairy products are part of the celebration of Shavuot.
Leviticus 23:15-16 ‘You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord. On a Gregorian calendar, we are in the year of 2023, the holiday of Shavuot/Feast…

A Very Wiseman Once Said This
“To those who bow down to the Pope, thinking he has binding and loosing powers and the keys to the kingdom, Peter has this to say: Acts 10:25-26 – Authorised VersionAnd as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.“

"Don't touch my Peter!"
Long ago this was slang for penis, which based on the Apostle Peter. If you read the Gospel of Mary, you would realize that he was a misogynist prick who dismissed her because she was a woman-- and not only that, he accused her of being a whore. Mary is an enlightened being, the divine feminine.
There are many missing parts of the Bible which really add some important context. I am not a Christian, I find religion abhorrent - however they contain important wisdom and information that has been lost to modern society.
I will post other relevant texts as I see fit. The Gospel of Thomas, for instance, as well as the Gospel of John.

Pride Comes Before the Fall (Luke 22:31-33, 54-62)
Even though Peter insisted he would never turn on Jesus, Jesus knew better. And, sure enough, Peter did a full-fledged moral belly flop in the pool of denial by disowning Jesus three times.
The Denial of Peter by Carl Bloch (1834-1890) “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death….” Then seizing Jesus, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter…
