U.A. High School Field Trip Around Japan: Day 1 Translations
To celebrate My Hero Academia reaching one hundred million copies worldwide, Shonen Jump is releasing special illustrations in the newspapers of Japan's 47 prefectures, calling it "U.A. High School Field Trip Around Japan." It's being rolled out daily across one-week.
The schedule is:
April 4th, Day 1: Hokkaidō & Tōhōku regions
April 5th, Day 2: Kantō region
April 6th, Day 3: Chūbu region
April 7th, Day 4: Kansai region
April 8th, Day 5: Chūgoku & Shikoku regions
April 9th, Day 6: Kyūshū & Okinawa regions
April 10th, Day 7: Nationwide release
You can see the illustrations on their website here, where they are released digitally the day after their newspaper release, so Day 1 and Day 2 are available right now.
The illustrations depict charming scenes between Class 1-A about something related to each prefecture's culture or history, so I thought it would be really fun to translate them and share a little bit about Japan.
Here we go!
Note: As I mentioned, the illustrations are available on the official site, but they are all rather small, which makes them hard to read, so in this post I have included photographs from fans which I used for my translations. Every photo was available publicly on twitter and I have credited the posters, but please be respectful and don't draw undue attention to these fans. If anyone contacts me wishing for their photo to be removed, I will do so.
Hokkaidō Region
Hokkaidō

Iida: "Heroes! Be ambitious!!' Aizawa: "I'm leaving you behind."
Iida is standing in front of the statue of William S. Clark at Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, a scenic spot in Sapporo. Clark worked with the Japanese government to found Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaidō University) in 1876; he is a very famous figure in the history of the region. The statue is inscribed with a quote attributed to him as he left Japan: "Boys, be ambitious!"
Tōhōku Region
Aomori

Dark Shadow: "Fumikage!! I GOT ONE!!" Tokoyami: "The allure of forbidden fruit which tastes so sweet..." Dark Shadow: "One simply cannot resist!" Asui: "Tokoyami-chan sure likes apples, huh?"
Agriculture is huge in Aomori, and specifically they are famous for their apples, contributing about 60% of Japan's entire apple production. Raw apples, jams, juices, desserts, etc., they are everywhere in Aomori, and fyi, they are all absolutely delicious. The sweetest, richest, freshest apples I've ever had in my life were the ones I had here! Dark Shadow is right, one simply cannot resist!!!
Iwate
Tumblr media

Todoroki: "I can have as many bowls as I want, right?" Endeavor: "SHOUTOOOOO!!!" Kouda: "Todoroki-kun!! Your dad said he wants to eat with you, too!!" Todoroki: "Check, please."
Todoroki is eating wanko soba, a specialty from Iwate where it's basically an all-you-can-eat. The soba is served in many small bowls, and you slurp them up and immediately get served more. The verb he uses, ikeru, is one people also use for "holding your liquor well," which I personally found hilarious. "Oh yeah, I can hold my noodles."
Miyagi
Tumblr media
Ashido: "Teacher, what's wrong? You keep lollygagging about!" Aizawa: "Kittykittykitty..." Shouji: "Anybody suspicious around? Nothing has come up in my search for enemies." Iida: "We're leaving you behind, teacher."
Miyagi is famous for being home to Tashirojima, the so-called "Cat Island" where cats outnumber people. Iida gets revenge!!
Akita
Tumblr media
Hagakure: "Namahage faces are so scary!!" Kaminari: "Looks just like Bakugou, don't it." Bakugou: "THERE'S NO RESEMBLANCE AT ALL, I'LL SEND YOU FLYING!!" Sero: "He's a rotten kid who looks just like a Namahage!"
Namahage are frightening folkloric figures from Akita's New Year's festival. Men wear big demon masks and straw coats and wield a (fake) weapon; they march through the streets or knock on doors to scold misbehaving children, asking if there are any "warui ko," (naughty/rotten/bad kids), which is what Sero calls Bakugou.
Yamagata
Tumblr media
Yaoyorozu: "Oh, tranquility! Penetrating the very rock, a cicada’s voice." Kaminari: "Jirou! How about you put your earphones on that rock?" Jirou: "Are you stupid?"
Yaoyorozu is reciting a famous poem by Basho Matsuo written when he visited the Buddhist temple, Risshaku-ji (also called Yamadera, meaning "mountain temple"). This translation is by Helen Craig McCullough. Risshaku-ji, a National Historic site, is home to a number of beautiful buildings and statues built into the mountainside; temple history claims a lineage back to the 9th century. The trail up to the temple consists of 1,015 steps; I visited in winter, which made it quite the precarious climb!
Fukushima
Tumblr media
Kirishima: "This right here is what I should be aiming for!!" Aoyama: "A fateful encounter~!" Bakugou: "When I said 'just being able to keep standing through anything makes you crazy strong,' this ain't what I meant!!"
Kirishima is looking at rows of okiagari koboshi, which are traditional papier-mâché dolls popular in Fukushima's western Aizu region. They are weighted so that no matter what you do to them, they pop right back up to standing!
That's all for Day 1! I'm still translating Day 2 and collecting Day 3's as they roll in, so please look forward to those. :D

[CN] Victor’s Springtime Revival Date (Eng Translation)
⌚Warning⌚ This post contains detailed spoilers for a date, 逢春之约, that is yet to be released on the global server! ♡
Tumblr media
It’s very important to read the prologue and the diary entries before the date for context. So, remember to read them first! 𓆩♡𓆪
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【Chapter 1】
Tumblr media
The spring sun tenderly passes through the gaps in the lush greenery of the scenic spot, casting patches of light on the ground.
I walk in brisk footsteps through Aomori Park, carrying a bag of gifts with me.
Although it’s not yet the time we agreed to meet, the conference lasting nearly half a month has already been long enough. I’m unable to hold back my longing anymore and arrive at the hotel where Victor is staying ahead of time.
Just as I walk toward the reception desk, I see a tall and straight figure coming out of the elevator.
Victor holds his phone to his ear with one hand and seems to be talking with someone on the other side. Only a few of the words he’s saying reach my ears.
Victor: …LFG will take the lead in shouldering corporate responsibilities and accelerating investment in clean energy projects.
Victor: However, considering the enormous number of workers in traditional industries, we will need time to map out a plan and implement it.
Tumblr media
I watch his busy appearance from a distance, not rushing up to him. But he soon lifts his eyes and sees me, slightly taken aback.
He says a few more words to the other end of the line, then sets down his phone and comes toward me in large strides, catching me firmly in his arms as I lunge for him.
Tumblr media
MC: Victor, surprise! I’ve taken care of all my work, so I’m here early to surprise you!
Victor’s gaze becomes heavy as he looks at me from top to bottom, then he deepens the hug.
Victor: It seems that a certain someone didn’t goof off in this half a month without me and has had a very fruitful time.
MC: Of course. I’ve properly completed all the tasks you left behind.
Victor tugs slightly at the corners of his lips, takes me back to his room and quickly puts away my luggage. Before leaving the hotel, I squeeze my backpack and feel at ease after identifying the jewelry box inside.
[Tidbits]: The jewelry box is in reference to the “couple’s ornaments” from the SSR event~ .。*♡
As we walk, I take Victor’s hand in mine and chatter on and on about everything I’ve experienced over the past few days.
The early morning breeze wafts through, causing my nostrils to be filled with his scent. I can’t help but lean in closer to him.
Such a close distance also allows me to clearly capture the glimmer of exhaustion under his eyes.
My eyebrows knit together into a slight frown as I think back to the phone call from earlier.
MC: Victor, have you not had any rest lately?
Tumblr media
Victor: It’s just that the situation at this conference was relatively complicated, and it’s been a bit of a stressful period, that’s all.
The early spring breeze carries with it a slight chilliness. Seeing that I still look a little worried, he tightens the loose jacket around my shoulders.
Victor: [sighs helplessly]  All right, stop worrying about this.
Victor: Don’t you want to take a nostalgic trip back to the “brilliant springtime”? Come this way.
As he says this, we happen to pass by the huge icon of Aomori Park. Victor straight leads me down a direction without even glancing sideways.
Tumblr media
MC: So determined. It seems that CEO Victor has already planned the itinerary for this trip?
Hearing the “flattery” in my tone, the corners of Victor’s lips curve up into an arc.
Tumblr media
Victor: [laughs softly] Since the trip is in the name of nostalgia, the design of the travel itinerary is naturally simple.
With this, he grasps my hand and walks up to a small platform nestled amidst the verdant greeneries.
Dappled light and spring leaves fall on his outerwear through the gaps in the platform, dyeing his whole body with the light trails of spring.
He looks at me, his gaze reflecting a subtle light.
Victor: I want to take you on a trip down my memory lane.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【Chapter 2】
Tumblr media
Our first stop begins with the sound of the steam whistle. The forest train starts along the long and narrow rail track, taking Victor and me to charge into a vast pool of greenery.
It travels slowly and steadily along the route, reminiscent of a leisurely giant creature, wandering unhurriedly through the verdant spring.
Perhaps because it’s still early, we are the only two people on the train. We sit by the window, watching the scenery receding on both sides.
Through the window, it can be clearly seen that the leaves of the trees on either side of the road are still delicate, and their blades still have a newborn tenderness to them.
Tumblr media
Victor: Even after several years, the scenery on the route has not changed.
Victor smiles, gesturing for me to look out the window at the maple trees almost within reach.
Victor: I remember when I came here, it had rained just the day before, and the maple leaves were so awash in rainwater that the water would roll off as the train passed by.
Victor: We were splashed all over with water.
As soon as the words leave his mouth, a hanging maple branch grazes past the train, splashing a few drops of dew onto my outstretched palm.
MC: Seems like I can picture the scene back then!
In the spur of the moment, I extend my hand and point in the other direction.
MC: What about the one on the far side?
Victor: Paper mulberry tree.
MC: And these over here?
Victor: Camphor tree.
Seeing that I’m about to point again, Victor gives me a helpless look and pulls my hand down from the window.
Tumblr media
Victor: [sighs sharply]  The ones at the front are acacia trees, and behind are Phoebe Zhenan trees.
Hearing Victor say these, I half crinkle my eyes into a smile and also try to remember what it was like when I came here back in the day.
Tumblr media
MC: I was also here with ten or more classmates from the same department.
MC: Everyone was so busy laughing and joking. I didn’t even notice the things you just said.
As I’m feeling a little regretful, the music in the car comes to an end, and a new melody is played.
The music is soft, integrating with the sound of the wind blowing through the forest, reminiscent of a love poem written between the leaves.
MC: This tune is… it’s “With an Orchid”!
MC: I didn’t expect that even the music on the train hadn’t changed after all these years!
Victor: [a little surprised]  You remember it that clearly?
Tumblr media
MC: Mm! We were having a music guessing competition on the train according to the ones being played, and I was the only one who guessed this one~
The river of memories pours down in torrents, and as I remember the fragments one by one, I talk about them intermittently.
Victor, sitting next to me, listens quietly. The floating light from the window glides over his eyelashes, looking as peaceful as an oil painting.
I can’t help but stop my babbling, slump down on the seat in front of me, and gaze back at him in silence.
Victor: What are you looking at me for?
MC: Victor, when you came here, did you enjoy the scenery quietly like this back then too?
Victor shakes his head, fixing his eyes on the seats ahead of us.
Victor: [sighs deeply and sharply] Of course not. When several people with shared interests travel together, it’s natural to make a racket.
Victor: The trip was in early summer, the senior year of my university. At the time, LFG was in the initial stage of being stabilized.
Victor: Several of my work partners had been highly strung over the previous year, so I used a part of the profits to bring them on tour.
Tumblr media
MC: Employee travel benefits. Turns out that CEO Victor was so generous at that time!
Hearing my slightly envious teasing, a light smile ripples in Victor’s eyes, and he points his other hand to the enclosed seats at the front of the carriage.
Tumblr media
Victor: The only place where you can sit facing each other is at the front of the train, and if memory serves, we should all be sitting there back then.
Victor: It’s just the two of us here now, so we can actually sit anywhere we want.
I fiddle with Victor’s hand that I’m holding and wink at him.
MC: So, were you guys talking about your lofty ambitions? For instance, earning a hundred million…
Tumblr media
Victor’s gaze turns slightly speechless. He draws back the hand I’m playing with and gently raps it on my head.
Victor: [adorably helpless]  What’s in your head? We just talked about what a bunch of college boys would talk about, basically chatting on and off about everything that came to mind.
Victor: When you take your staff out on tours, do you drag them to feed on the pies in the sky?
I can’t help but laugh out loud, shaking my head repeatedly as I do so. After composing my laughter, I don’t forget to size up Victor, who currently has the aura of an iceberg in front of me.
MC: It’s just hard to imagine you talking about what college boys would talk about…
Seeing my curiosity, Victor recalls some of the topics he had talked about back then.
From “reasonable discussions” about school rules and regulations, to weird meals in the cafeteria, to learning each other’s native dialects…
Listening to those stories of the past that I was not a part of-– makes me feel as if I’ve stepped into the past that didn’t have me and have become a companion of his at that time.
Because of how long time has passed since then, he often needs to stop and ponder the stories, but I still listen with keen interest.
MC: And? And? Aside from the things you just said, what else would you guys talk about?
Tumblr media
Victor: Let me think…
The morning light sprayed down, shining softly on his silhouette.
He closes his eyes slightly as he searches for the memories, the exhaustion that has been under his eyes earlier has dissipated without even realizing it––
Along with the concomitant long-drawn-out steam whistle and the evergreen woods–– the moment blends into a blur of beautiful emotions.
As the daylight gradually begins to descend, the train finally pulls up on the creeper-covered railway platform unhurriedly. It’s the final stop of the forest train.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【Chapter 3】
Tumblr media
As we walk out of the platform, we are greeted by a vast lake expanding into the distance, with towering Pond Cypress trees reflecting the turquoise water of the lake.
The waterbirds fly intermittently, the reed grasses are reminiscent of silk, and the pleasure boats with distinctive features navigate their way through the lake.
The superficially probable yet actually inaccurate sight leaves both Victor and me feeling a little odd, and neither of us speaks for a while.
A short while later, I slowly raise the question.
MC: …is this the right place? The train wouldn’t have changed the route, would it?
MC: As far as I can remember, this isn’t how the terminal looked like before, and there was a long, covered bridge over the lake.
Tumblr media
Victor: Really?
Silent, Victor looks at the lake for a moment, a subtle flow of emotions coursing through his eyes.
Victor: Seems that the park authorities have taken over the area and have been constructing and renovating it bit by bit over the years.
Victor: You and I came at different times, so the landscape we saw must have been different too.
MC: What was it like here when you came?
Victor leads me down to the lakeside. Dense water vapor blended with the slight coolness in the wind fans the surroundings.
Tumblr media
Victor: …in my memory, this area wasn’t fully developed yet.
Victor: However, there were some private bamboo rafts and wooden boats that would offer the services to help pedestrians cross the water by charging money.
Victor: That photo you showed me earlier was taken while crossing the lake.
I nod and can’t help but smile as I recall how my classmates sat in rows by the edge of the covered bridge and took pictures.
Coming back to this once familiar place in our memories, even though it no longer looks the same as Victor and I remember––
But no matter how many springs, summers, autumns, and winters have passed, it’s still as tranquil and luxuriant as it was in the past.
Victor beckons towards a boat that is soliciting passengers, then turns to look at me.
Victor: The next part of this nostalgic route involves a boat ride.
The boatman swings the oars and brings the boat to the shore, causing the water to splash up and dampen the green grass on the bank.
I hold Victor’s hand and step onto the slightly rocking boat. After we are seated firmly, the wooden oars send the boat through the water.
Reminiscent of green silk, the floating leaves on the water’s surface are pushed aside by the boat, following the ripples of the water as they drift backward.
Not far away, the waterfowls keep away from the boat, pecking at their feathers beneath the shades of the trees. The only sounds surrounding us are the creaking of the wooden oars and the gurgling of the water.
I take out the camera I have on my back and capture the radiance of this touching springtime.
Tumblr media
MC: How’s the light in these shots? Help me check it out~
I hand the camera to Victor and, taking advantage of the interval while he is helping me choose, I quietly fumble around in my backpack.
After feeling the familiar shape, I jubilantly take it out, clearing my throat while doing so.
MC: Victor, this is from me to you––
Victor: [soft exclamation]  Milk?
Victor looks at the object in my hand, puzzlement in his eyes.
Tumblr media
MC: What milk… ––!
…oops, I was in too much of a rush while coming out and mixed up the jewelry box with the milk!
MC: Ahem, this… I was afraid you’d get too thirsty on the road, so I prepared it in advance, haha.
I stuff the milk to him with a nonchalant air. Victor looks at me suspiciously, and as if realizing something, he smiles a little instead and hands me the camera.
Tumblr media
Victor: [knowing soft laughter]   I’ll drink it later.
Victor: The light is fine in these shots you’ve taken. But I’m surprised there are no portraits this time; it’s not like your style.
MC: I was just about to take–– WOW! Victor, don’t move!
Tumblr media
While we are talking, some white-feathered ducks have swum up behind Victor at some point, and they don’t seem to be afraid of people.
I press down the shutter at lightning speed, capturing this brilliant moment of spring.
Victor doesn’t make any sound so as not to interrupt my enthusiasm. His eyelashes are slightly lowered, as if he, too, is experiencing the tranquility of the moment.
The boat sways gently, and he leans back indolently against it, his eyes cast off into the distance, a relaxed curve hanging on his lips.
The familiarity of the scene makes me recall that old photo of him in my memory, and I can’t help setting it side by side with this moment right now.
Tumblr media
MC: Victor, I find that… you’ve really matured a lot!
Victor: …
Victor: [laughs softly]   What strange thing did you think of again?
I look at Victor, who is already looking at me at this moment, his eyes reflecting the light colors of spring.
Tumblr media
MC: Nah, it’s nothing. I just feel that the scene right now is a bit similar to the photo I showed you earlier.
MC: You were much younger and more juvenile back then, and you didn’t look as calm as you do now.
MC: But… your eyes were very resolute, and there seemed to be that sense of unrelenting courage to press on doggedly as if nothing would ever shake you.
I hand the camera to Victor and smile a little complacently.
MC: This, undoubtedly, is the best one I’ve shot today!
He takes the camera, but merely casts a glance at it before setting it aside.
MC: What’s wrong? Is CEO Victor not satisfied?
The hull of the boat sways, and as my body suddenly leans over, I’m pulled into Victor’s arms.
The ducks swimming by the boat are given a start, and the flapping of their wings causes a few splashes of water to be sprayed, steeping the tip of my heart.
Tumblr media
Victor: [heart tugging whisper]  Being like this… now I’m satisfied.
I relax, shift to a more comfortable position, and lay in his arms.
The sun gradually moves overhead, and the sunshine grows warmer. Accompanied by the moist water vapor of the river’s surface, the atmosphere makes one feel satisfied.
The chest that is pressed against me rises and falls smoothly, and I can’t but nuzzle against it gently.
Tumblr media
Victor: [laced with soft laughter]  Dummy.
MC: …I haven’t even done anything yet. Why am I suddenly being called a dummy!
I look up and see Victor’s smiling eyes reflecting my sulking expression.
Victor: [heart tugging whisper]  I was just thinking that being together with a certain dummy like this, indeed, is the supreme method of relieving stress.
Tumblr media
MC: Hehe, but I still want to help you share a little more of your burdens.
MC: Wanna talk to me about it?
Victor nods. I listen quietly as he recounts, in a steady voice, the impasses encountered in the conference and occasionally add to the discussion.
Victor: Until the alternative industries are developed, a change in the layout of the traditional businesses will have a significant impact on the whole system.
MC: I understand, and that would mean that a lot of people might lose their jobs…
Victor nods, his tone taking on a trace of relief.
Victor: In this matter, there is an irreconcilable conflicting view between the corporate side and the advocates of environmental protection programs.
Victor: Even though LFG is the representative of the corporate side, the matters we can influence are always limited.
Realizing the source of his exhaustion from before, I look at him seriously and nod hard.
MC: It’s all right. As long as you fight from the perspective of the workers, you are a good boss!
Seemingly infected by my tone, Victor pinches my cheek and opens his mouth in a slightly teasing manner.
Tumblr media
Victor: Just like you did when you fought for LFG’s investment back then?
MC: I didn’t just fight to win their investment. I also fought to win their boss over.
Victor: [hushed tone]  Mm?
Seeing that Victor has caught my whispered grumbling red-handed, I simply don a cheeky expression and display a complacent smile.
MC: Is that not right?
Victor: Yes, but you’re not entirely correct.
As the pleasure craft reaches the shore, we stand up, and Victor straightens my somewhat disheveled dress for me.
Victor: In the matter of fighting for the other person, our feelings are mutual.
Tumblr media
MC: Hehe, I know you love me too.
After saying this, my face turns red, and I hurriedly rush to the shore before him. Then I turn back and wink at him.
MC: Where are we off to next, Mr. Tour Guide?
Victor curls the corners of his lips into a smile and takes my hand.
Victor: Since this trip is in the name of nostalgia, I can’t be the only one who gets to be nostalgic.
Victor: For the second half of the nostalgic journey, you are the tour guide.
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
【Chapter 4】
After paying the boat fare, we head down the small path. According to the navigation, it’s very close to the hotel where Victor is staying.
I buy some souvenirs from the neighborhood. For the convenience of the rest of the sightseeing, we put the things back at the hotel and change into lighter clothes while we’re at it.
Of course, I don’t forget to make use of the opportunity and put the jewelry box in my bag, confirming it over and over before heading out again.
Passing through the small road behind the hotel and following the fragrance of milk and tea, I bring Victor to a milk tea store.
The store’s wooden signboard makes it quite clear that it bears traces of age.
The aroma of tea emits from the flowers planted in front of the entrance with boiled residues of tea leaves, which are blooming exuberantly.
Tumblr media
Victor: I came here a couple of times during the conference these few days. It’s a time-honored store, and the taste is pretty good too.
MC: Since it has gotten Chef Victor’s approval, I’m looking forward to this even more!
After pushing open the door, we are greeted with the bright and clean interior of the store, and the décor is in the style of about a decade ago.
The wooden tables and chairs used here are smooth and shiny, and the menu nailed to the wall has a slightly antiquated tinge to it.
After placing the orders, I choose a seat by the window and sit down with Victor.
The milk tea served by this store is brewed from fresh milk. While waiting, I tell him my “poor traveling on budget” story during the trip I took in university.
MC: …and so, because of the limited budget, we could only manage to see some of the scenic spots in one day, and then we rushed back home.
Tumblr media
MC: I heard about this store’s tasty drinks back in the day. So, I’ve been longing for it for a long time, and now I can satisfy this little regret!
My reminiscence seems to have stirred up memories for Victor, who muses to himself for a moment and opens his mouth a little unsurely.
Victor: Now that you mention it, I feel like I’ve been to this store before.
But after thinking for a while, he can’t seem to remember any more details, so he changes the subject.
We continue our idle chatter for a good while. Just as we feel that our mouths are becoming a little parched, the milk tea happens to arrive exactly at the right time.
Victor holds the milk tea in one hand. The rising steam gradually smears his facial features, setting off his eyebrows and eyes even more deeply.
Victor: What’s on your mind, looking so enthralled?
Tumblr media
MC: I was just thinking, when I was here on my trip back then, I had no idea that I would come back again with you one day.
MC: At that time, I just wanted to go out and see more, to go sightseeing and enjoy the radiance of spring.
MC: Hahaha, saying like this now, it makes me sound a little featherbrained, doesn’t it…
MC: Victor, say, will we be in an entirely different environment in the future and look back on the present times like this?
Listening to my words, Victor suddenly smiles.
Tumblr media
Victor: [laughs softly]  Isn’t a certain someone still featherbrained now?
MC: Humph, nonsense. I’ve grown a lot over the years.
Victor: Indeed, you have. But no matter how the future changes, a certain dummy will always be the dummy at my side.
Even though I pull a face at him, a warmth surfaces in my heart. I stand up and stride to the window, pushing it open.
A few drooping magnolia branches sweep in, and flakes of petals fall. Victor stares at the scenery outside the window, momentarily stunned.
Tumblr media
He stands up and walks to the window. The afternoon breeze ruffles his hair and lifts the corners of his jacket. After a moment, his eyes light up slightly, and he smiles, pulling me over to him.
Victor: I remember now. I did come here in my senior year.
Victor: Standing by the window, I realized that the view from here is the same as it was back then.
The wind tousles the loose strands of hair over Victor’s forehead, tugging at my heartstrings.
Suddenly, I really want to be a little closer to him.
I lift my face, caressing his cheek with one hand.
Tumblr media
MC: Victor, close your eyes.
Victor: Why?
MC: …there’s no why.
I imitate the tone he once used and reach up to cover his eyes, not allowing any room for his refusal. The delicate sensation of his eyelashes sweeping across my palm runs through me.
[Tidbits]: It’s a reference to Victor’s “Preference,” i.e., the “Zeyan gēge” mind quest (do note that the global translation differs from the CN script here)~ 𓆩♡𓆪
Tumblr media
It’s as if I’m holding a bird that is about to spread its wings to fly.
The frequency of my heartbeat accelerates along with the sensation under my palm, and I have to force myself to fumble around in my backpack with one free hand.
Feeling the eyelashes flutter beneath my palm, I hastily stop my movement.
MC: Don’t open your eyes yet. Close them, close them quickly.
I open the gift box and put the necklace on him that I’ve customized for him. It’s only after completing the job successfully that I finally breathe a sigh of relief.
MC: You can open your eyes now.
[Anika’s Tidbits]: Felt like an important detail to add; the music for this part is called “邂逅,” which means “meeting by chance/ chance encounter.” It conveys the same theme as the “red thread of fate.” The reason I recognized the music immediately was cause it was used in Victor x MC’s S2 reunion date (Meeting in the past date in EN)~ 𓆩♡𓆪
Tumblr media
Victor lowers his head, and at a glance, he sees the necklace speaking of nostalgia that has been added around his neck, with a silver pendant engraved with fine patterns.
I tap on my ear, showing him proudly.
I’m wearing an earring in the identical pattern to Victor’s pendant. When the sun shines on it, it emits the same shimmering light as the pendant.
Victor: This is your reunion gift? [laughs softly]  Your taste is as consistent as always.
Tumblr media
MC: Nope, it’s just a little embellishment to our nostalgic trip. I haven’t given my gift yet.
I raise an eyebrow, and as expected, I receive a slightly puzzled gaze from Victor.
I stretch out my hand and run it down the side of his neck, slipping my fingers into his hair and gently pulling him to me.
Under his focused gaze, I slowly approach his lips, breathing softly.
MC: Here’s the gift I want to give you.
My kisses land on the corner of his lips, on his chin, on the crook of his neck— akin to a bird greedy for fragrance, restlessly tasting the honey of a flower on the sly in the springtime.
My heart is also throbbing like a young newborn bird, drumming in my chest, inducing me to deepen the kiss.
Tumblr media
It’s not until the sound of a guest pushing at the door transmits to us that we suddenly pull away, looking at the scenery outside the window nonchalantly.
MC: Do you like the gift?
Victor knows my thoughts like the back of his hand. He nudges my forehead with his fingertips, smiling.
Tumblr media
Victor: I could feel it very clearly. In this separation of more than ten days, a certain someone really missed me.
MC: Hahaha, Victor, so pleased that getting carried away, are you?
Victor: I learned from the Great Producer MC, so it must be put into practice.
Seeing how the teasing has been turned back on me, I have no choice but to change the subject as if nothing has happened.
MC: I- I’d better think about the following itinerary for the trip, lest you make fun of me for being featherbrained again.
Victor looks at me lightly, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Victor: [laughs softly]  Dummy. As important as nostalgia is, doing something new is even more important.
Victor: Have you forgotten your “make the best of things” travel strategy?
My heart stirs, and I put down my clean glass, clapping my hands together.
Tumblr media
MC: You’re right! In fact, this nostalgic trip has already been perfect. For the rest of the trip, I’ll leave it to the moment~
The wind outside the window brushes against the leaves of the old trees, and the light of the gradually setting sun spills over the empty tables.
We’ve already walked out of the tea store, heading down a small path without knowing where it’d lead to.
MC: By the way, when you went to the store before, you didn’t remember that you had already been there a long time ago?
Victor: I was in a rush during the days of the conference and didn’t have the mood to observe, so it didn’t leave any impression.
Tumblr media
Victor: Let’s just say, it’s not the store that really awakened the memories; it’s the dummy accompanying me on this journey.
MC: Since CEO Victor has put it like that, I will accept this gratitude unceremoniously.
MC: Could you express this with some puddings, though? And one serving is not enough.
Victor: Sure. But this gift will have to be settled at the end of spring.
Tumblr media
MC: I have to wait that long!?
The setting sun has slowly climbed up to the sky, dyeing the skylight a pinkish orange.
The color of spring is reflected in Victor’s eyes. He smiles slightly, the scenery in his eyes condensing into my face.
Tumblr media
Victor: I will count the stories left behind this spring and deliver them all to you together with the profits.
Victor: Satisfied?
MC: Completely satisfied! Deal!
Slowly, I think to myself, we will write many, many stories this spring, just like today.
Those stories will overlap with the ones of our pasts that haven’t yet coincided, and together, they will converge into the colors of tomorrow’s spring.
Reflecting on the amorous feelings before us, we will head off to a new day.

I'm taking my second trip of the year next week. But because it's Golden Week and that means everyone else in this country will also be traveling, picking a destination was . . . challenging. It's one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.
So I'm going to Aomori and Hakodate. What am I going to do in Aomori and Hakodate for five days? I have absolutely no idea. I'll figure it out when I get there. But it's hitting up prefectures I've never been to before, and not costing a small fortune, and those are my only requirements for Japanese domestic travel.
Last year for Golden Week I went to Ise, in Mie, with a day in Nagoya solely so that I could check Aichi off my list. We'll see how Aomori and southern Hokkaido stack up.
ETA: What I have unintentionally done is leave Akita as the only prefecture in northern Japan that I will have never been to. I'm going to have to find some reason to go because this isn't going to work for me:

The Same Sky and Moon and Stars
Happy Inukag Week!
I didn't realize it was InuKag week until now 😅
Not sure if this fits exactly with the prompts as it's more focused on Kagome's friends and family dealing with her returning to the past to be with Inuyasha, but I think it goes well with Day 1: Love Languages.
If it doesn't fit the prompts too well, please forgive me and ignore this 🙈 (Too nervous about tagging haha, what if it doesn't match the prompts well?)
I always wondered what Kagome's friends and family thought of her vanishing into the well, and how they dealt with her absence after years and years. This is my interpretation of how that might have been. I haven't seen more than a few clips of the sequel series yet and I am not too familiar with the storyline, but I saw a clip of Moroha hugging grandpa and maxing out Sota's credit card and I thought that was so cute. Please tell me what you think! :)
Summary:
"His family had gotten on well enough, knowing that his sweet, beautiful granddaughter was safe and happy in her new home, but even so, he could detect longing and anguish for her phantom presence. He knew better, though. She hadn't gone anywhere. She was right there with him, under the same blue sky."
Kagome, and the world she left behind. Post-series.
FFN / AO3
Be sure to come to Wac's at noon! Eri had told Kagome, beaming brilliantly. Then we can go to the arcade, and then we can watch a movie.
Finally.
After months and months of cram school and late nights studying, entrance exam torture and nervous breakdowns.
Finally.
They'd graduated.
Yuka would move all the way down south to Kyushu for college in a few months, and Ayumi would go straight north, north, north, right into the depths of the snowiest mountains. Eri would remain in Tokyo.
Kagome still hadn't said what she was planning to do after high school, but as her grades had somehow drastically improved three years ago soon after starting high school, Eri was certain that Kagome, too, had gotten into a prestigious institution.
She hadn't said where that was, but Eri was sure that she would spill the beans after a couple of burgers and milkshakes.
Truthfully, she was hoping that at least Kagome would stay in Tokyo with her. It would be lonely with Ayumi all the way in Aomori, and Yuka in Fukuoka. Notwithstanding her strange illnesses and absences back in the ninth grade, Kagome had been dependably the next desk over in class, sharing notes and lunches and smiles for years and years and years. Eri didn't want her to go too soon.
Noon became 12:15, and 12:15 became 12:25.
Eri ordered a heaping of fries, and Ayumi an extra-large milkshake.
Yuka had taken the liberty of ordering for Kagome the extra extra extra large burger that she liked, and tapped her foot impatiently. By 12:45, she had crinkled her brow in a blend of irritation and concern.
"You don't think she suddenly got sick again, do you?" Ayumi asked. "Hang on, I'll call her house."
She pulled out her brand-new Nokia flip that Ayumi's parents had gotten her as a graduation gift. (They would all color-coordinate their phones soon. Ayumi had insisted.)
"Yes, ojii-san, this is Ayumi. I'm calling to ask about...oh, really? He's back so suddenly? She's gone to meet him?...Well, tell her to come to Wac's soon, please, her burger is getting soggy."
She hung up, her face clearing, her brow smoothing, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"It's her delinquent boyfriend again! He's back from that three-year trip and he's gone to meet Kagome!"
Their table erupted in squeals and applause.
"So Kagome isn't in a long-distance relationship anymore!"
"Ooooh, this is way more interesting than college plans!"
"Think he's still not as good a match as Hojo-kun?"
"You think she's gonna bring him here? We need to check him out!"
"She better!"
One o'clock came and went.
Kagome still didn't come.
They shrugged their shoulders, not all that concerned. She and her boyfriend were all lovey-dovey. She was constantly getting piggyback rides from him and all. They had probably lost track of time after three years in a long-distance relationship.
Eri wrapped up the burger and dropped it off at the Higurashi house with a friendly, teasing note that Kagome would never read.
***
Five years had passed since high school graduation, and honestly, Ayumi was still a bit miffed at Kagome.
You would think that Kagome's best friends would be invited to her wedding. You would think that they wouldn't suddenly elope out of nowhere right after the last day of high school. Really, what were they thinking?
She'd been meaning to call for years now, hoping to give Kagome a piece of her mind. Kagome's mother had given her a phone number, but whenever Ayumi rang, there would only ever be a beep and a polite, robotic voice, telling her that the number was invalid and to please dial again.
***
"Mama, who's that?" her daughter asked one evening, pointing to a gaggle of smiling schoolgirls in Yuka's old, yellowing photo album.
"Hmm? Those are Eri-san and Ayumi-san. They settled down in Tokyo last year. You met them at that party, dear."
"No, mama, I mean this person."
Yuka rubbed her aging eyes and blinked.
Ah.
It had been decades, but something in her heart lurched even so.
"Well, that's Kagome-san. She was a good friend of mine in high school. Don't know what she's up to now. I haven't been in touch with her for years."
Every once in a while, she would call the Higurashi shrine and ask about Kagome, if she was busy, and if Eri and Ayumi were in town, if she might want to stop by at Wac's and take a selfie and a burger for nostalgia's sake.
Kagome never was home. Her mother would always sigh softly and say that Kagome was "abroad." Whichever country she was in now, the Higurashi family definitely didn't seem keen on telling her.
It was life, she supposed. You moved on.
Still, a part of her would close her eyes and drift back to sleepy, golden afternoons and biking back home, happy smiles, and rapid-fire discussions of Kagome's strange, delinquent boyfriend.
***
There used to be a girl he liked, back in high school. Higurashi, wasn't it?
She was quite beautiful, and though he had been happily married for thirty years now, her bright, smiling face crossed Hojo's mind sometimes.
She had fallen quite sick in the ninth grade. All sorts of strange illnesses. Economy class syndrome and swine flu and chicken pox and even a bite from a potentially rabid dog.
Yet through those bizarre and alarming-sounding ailments, Higurashi's face always seemed to glow. She certainly didn't have the look of a sick person. Hojo hoped that meant all the get-well cards and medicines he gave her had worked.
He'd gone to an all-boys school after that and didn't get to see her as much, but every few weeks, he would run into her on the street and she would always greet him with a nod and a smile. They'd even gone to the movies once or twice, but soon enough, Hojo could tell she never saw him as anything other than a classmate. He was dejected for a while, but soon enough recovered his good cheer, and was happy that she still enjoyed his friendship.
She'd vanished after that.
Just one day, out of the blue, he stopped seeing her around on the street. He supposed she had moved away for college and a job.
Was she doing all right now? Hojo hoped that, approaching late middle age as their generation was, that Higurashi was taking care of her fragile health.
He touched the missing button of his shirt and smiled.
It was true, he had been happily married for years and whatever romantic feelings he had for her had long since faded into the breeze. But he hoped that Higurashi would always have a bright, smiling face, wherever she was, enjoying good health long into old age.
She did say that they could be friends forever, and surely it wasn't wrong to wish his friend well.
***
Her scent faded from the house slowly and steadily.
First downstairs, then upstairs, from the kitchen and living room and eventually from the shrine grounds. Her room stopped smelling like her long, long ago.
She used to give him good ear scratches and let him lie on her chest. She filled his food bowl much more copiously than did her brother, and she was always ready with treats from the supermarket for him.
The memory of her face was fading at the edges. Buyo was getting on in years.
He'd never forget her scent, though. Fading though it was, it lingered at the well and at the foot of the huge, old tree.
Lately he would venture down there, down that well, hoping to catch a whiff of her distinctive scent. He'd always get stuck, and her brother would pull him out.
***
It didn't hurt when she wasn't at his high school graduation. It didn't even hurt when she wasn't at his wedding. Once she went into that well, she couldn't come back out.
He knew that. And he knew that nee-chan was happy over there with her new family and friends. He couldn't begrudge her happiness. It wasn't like she was walking home after school one day and vanished without a trace, in potential danger. He knew exactly where she was, on the other side of the well.
Sota knew that she loved him all the same, whether she was here in the present or in the Sengoku Jidai with his new brother-in-law.
But –
He turned to his left and caught a wrinkle on his mother's forehead, and he turned to the right and caught the slow shuffle of his grandfather's feet –
And suddenly his eyes blurred with crystal tears.
New family.
New friends.
They were all getting older and older, and she was already gone, new and ancient all at once, somewhere in the distant past, before any of them were even born.
***
The day she became a mother was the happiest day in her life.
The day she learned she was a grandmother was yet happier.
Her tears wet the earth and soaked into the roots of the Goshinboku, all the way to her daughter.
Thank you, Kagome.
***
Some of Kagome's friends were sad. Others were mad. His family had gotten on well enough, knowing that his sweet, beautiful granddaughter was safe and happy in her new home, but even so, he could detect longing and anguish for her phantom presence at the kitchen table, at the hospital, at the shrine entrance greeting visitors.
He knew better, though.
He rested his aching back against the tree and breathed deeply, sensing her peculiar power.
He wasn't worried. He didn't miss her. Why would he? She hadn't gone anywhere.
She was right there with him, under the same blue sky.
***
Kagome stilled, her palm against the tree.
A light night wind made the branches sway and rustle under the starry sky.
She could feel it.
Feel them.
Old family and new, all at once.
The tree always did have a special power.
She wrapped an arm around her sleeping husband and daughter and smiled.

What countries would you like to visit and why?
Hi 😊
This is such a lovely and unexpected ask, thanks a lot!
Tumblr media
Probably not a lot of people are interested in this, but I'd answer it regardless:
I'd like to visit Japan again. I spend my honeymoon there in 2019 and we traveled for about three weeks through like the centre of the main island of Honshu, but I'd love to visit the north of the island (visiting the area of Aomori) and explore the island of Hokkaido (mostly wanting to visit Sapporo). I adore the japanese culture, history and pop culture a lot and the food is amazing. Plus the japanese people we've met on our travels were incredibly nice and heartfelt!!
Since I was a child, I dreamed about visiting Transilvania in Romania, mostly due to my love for real historical vampire lore and my interest in Vlad III. Drăculea/Vlad Țepeș. Especially visiting several castles (for example the Bran castle) would be on my list. Plus visitng my longest known mutual and bonus aunt to my little one, the iconic @skeysesil 🖤
A country which isn't far from my own but I never came around to visit yet is Czechoslovakia. A lot of my ancestors originated from there and would still live there if it wasn't for WW2, so I'd use my trip to do some family-tree research and especially visit Prague and Brünn.
I'd love to visit Finland someday. Just to explore the country, the nature, walking around Tampere and Helsinki. This country strikes me as such a relaxed and serene one 🤍 Plus meeting the lovely @gloomy-blonde 🤍
Still playing with the idea of visiting China someday (I'm especially interested in the old royal dynastic history of this country) or South Korea (my dad travelled there regularly for business some years ago and really liked it, so I'm also curious). Not sure though yet 😊

Bon and Rin getting sent on an overnight mission but the inn keeper assumes and treats them like they’re a couple (similar to Rin and yukio during the Aomori arc, except they actually do want to be a couple lol). The boys get progressively more flustered until they finally make use of the inn keepers hospitality

Fantastic @marble-wolf helped me with this one ^^
It's set in the fall/winter semester of their second year, though I don't think that really comes in. There's a sprained wrist, and I'm only posting part of it here. The link to the full story is at the bottom :D
-- -- -- -- --
"A mission with Suguro!"
Rin had repeated the cheerful words like one of their mantras and Rin couldn't help the excited bounce that made his sword smack him and his boots kick up dirt. But he was excited.
His first real solo mission with Ryuuji. Completely alone. Nobody lingering around and judging them. Nobody bossing them around. This was all on Rin and Ryuuji.
The cloudy sky and cool breeze wasn't even a deterrent for his overexcited prance (he enjoyed the breeze) and he was reaching out to shake Ryuuji's arm.
"A mission with Suguro!" He sang again.
Ryuuji was trying not to laugh, and he wasn’t even sure why. Rin was always ridiculous, and had been since Ryuuji had stopped thinking he was just another rich asshole, but it wasn’t an annoying kind of ridiculousness. (At least not most of the time.) No, it was one Ryuuji found endlessly charming and amusing, and one that made him laugh far too much.
He gave Rin a light shove, just enough to send him slightly off the path, but not far enough that he couldn’t catch Rin if his clumsy self tripped.
“It’s not like we’ve never done a mission together.” They’d done far more together than apart. “What’s got ya all excited about this one?”
They weren’t even entirely sure what they were looking for, so it couldn’t be the demon.
Rin twisted on his heel and beckoned to the path behind them.
"Look! No Yukio! No Shura! No Light!" Rin listed off the names of their most helicopter mission overseers.
He turned back to the correct direction and lifted his tail in a wide wag and hopped over a couple cracks and scattered leaves.
"We're indestructible!" Rin cheered.
“You maybe,” Ryuuji mumbled, trying to think of what Rin might have actually meant, because that didn’t make a lot of sense.
Inde… hmm… indecisive—oh!
“Independent.” Ryuuji said, rolling his eyes a little but smiling anyway. Rin’s energy was irresistible. (A lot of Rin was annoyingly irresistible.)
But Rin was right. They were independent. No one to tell them how to do anything or when to do anything. Just the two of them figuring it out.
“We still gotta follow protocols, but yeah. Just us.” And the way that immediately made Ryuuji’s cheeks go a little warm was not welcome. Not when they were going to be spending so much time together.
"Independent." Rin repeated, smiling at Ryuuji's gentle correction. "You always follow protocol. You keep Light from breaking protocol, so we're gonna be fine." Rin encouraged him.
Ryuuji's cheeks had gone a bit pink and Rin could imagine several instances that could be running through Ryuuji's head where Lewin (and even Shima) did not follow protocol and the aftermath of those times.
They were almost to the ryokan they would be staying in. It was a quaint, quiet ryokan, painted with rich reds with deep darker shades of wood. It wasn't bad despite the Order paying for it.
But it was a little jarring. The silence was "peaceful" but Rin had found peace in the sheer amount of noise in Torako's ryokan. Rin gawked at the designs carved into the wood and his head was tilting back, causing his hair to slip further out of the hair clip that had been abused by his jumping around.
It wasn’t as big as Torako’s Ryokan, but clearly well cared for and there was a bit of protective magic around it — Ryuuji hadn’t seen a ryokan without protective magic — but more important for their current circumstances, he didn’t see any obvious sign of demonic activity. Nothing scratched, no evidence of rot, no shadows that didn’t belong…
Ryuuji stepped forward and toed off his shoes, leaving them in the shelf just inside the door. The scent of tatami filled his lungs as he stepped properly inside, and that with the scent of wood and tea had a small bit of homesick welling in his chest. It was almost exactly what home smelled like.
“Okami? Ma’am?” Ryuuji called, not seeing the manager at the desk. He motioned for Rin to follow him, carefully unwinding his prayer beads and wrapping them between his fingers instead.
Rin followed after freeing his feet from his boots. He stayed close to Ryuuji, nearly pressed to his side as they stepped closer to the vacant desk.
They hadn't experienced it yet, but Rin had heard stories of entire ryokan's becoming possessed and exorcists getting attacked so he couldn't blame Ryuuji for the preparation to have his beads.
Rin could hear slow steps coming from behind one of the sliding doors and he swallowed the urge to growl. He couldn't sense anything malicious.
The woman was old and walked slowly, and she appeared to be completely harmlessly human who seemed content and she gave them a polite smile.
“Guests,” she greeted, bowing at the waist respectfully. “I’m sorry I was late to greet you. Please, come inside.”
Ryuuji returned the bow and took two pairs of the slippers, passing one to Rin before going forward to the front desk.
“I’m Ryuuji Suguro, ma’am, and this is my partner Rin Okumura.” He waited for Rin to join his side and gave the okami a smile. “We’re form the Order of the True Cross.”
Her expression immediately morphed into surprise as she looked between them, and then crumpled a little in intense relief.
“True Cross?” She asked, voice wavering a little. “You’re the Exorcists?”
Ryuuji shared a glance with Rin. “Yes, ma’am.”
Rin echoed Ryuuji, standing taller and right next to Ryuuji to appear professional. (As if he hadn't bounced his way down the path.)
"We can fix any demon problem you got!" Rin said with a smile and a polite bow.
The Okami bowed again. “Oh thank you.”
Ryuuji felt a twist of worry in his gut. They didn’t know much about the demon, the file had been thin and just mentioned a few vague sort of haunts and the mention of ghostly apparitions, but that could be anything or even imagined. Nothing even mildly unique or definitive.
“Here,” she hurried before Ryuuji could say anything else. “I’ve already got your rooms—” She paused and looked up at them again.
“I’ve got your room.” She said with a nod. “Here,” she reached under the desk and pulled out a box of keys. She took one out of it and set it on the desk. Two matching yukata followed, deep red with gold and blue flowers. “These are yours, and you will have complete access to the ryokan and baths.”
“Thank you, okami.” Ryuuji pulled the items a little closer, a bit confused why they’d only been given one room, but this was True Cross and it was always cheap as hell.
“Could you tell us where the demonic activity is occurring?”
“The ryokan and baths.”
“The entire place?” Ryuuji asked, hoping for anything but a yes.
“Yes.” She answered, and Ryuuji felt a little twitch of pain in his head. That was hardly helpful at all.
She continued with a, “only at night though.”
Rin barely held back the urge to groan at the vague words and knew that they were going to spend a lot of time wandering around. He couldn't sense anything malicious so surely the demon wasn't particularly dangerous. But Ryuuji would stress himself out with however long it takes to find the demon.
"Okay. We will check it out for you. Thank you, Okami." Rin said with another bow.
Ryuuji pulled the items off the counter, passing one of the yukata to Rin and frowning a little.
“Thank you, ma’am. We’ll take care of —”
“We have the banner system, but I’ll make sure you’re not disturbed.”
Why would that matter—oh! They weren’t the only ones here. Ryuuji shared another look with Rin. They’d have to watch out for that.
“Thank you,” Ryuuji said again and stepped back, reaching for Rin’s arm and gently pulling him along. They’d need to set up their work station and lay a few basic wards around the place to see if they could track anything or at least figure out a kingdom.
“This way,” the Okami hummed, looking decidedly happier. She eyed the hand Ryuuji had on Rin’s arm, and he almost dropped it but he let it linger for a moment longer, because he tried and never let looks dictate what he did. They were rarely encouraging and almost always controlling, and he didn’t know enough about this okami to know one way or another.
They were led down the hall and towards a room nicely tucked away with an opening to the garden. It wasn’t particularly bed — none of the rooms looked to be particularly big (and Ryuuji couldn’t help but compare it to his mother’s, and he was going to suggest any innovative ideas he saw. He didn’t want to take it over, but he wanted to help.)
The separate futons had been traded for a single large one, and there was a basket of amenities and toiletries by the futon.
It reminded him of their couple rooms.
The Okami was backing up and sliding the door shut before Ryuuji could turn around and ask.
Rin stopped at the entrance, slipping off the slippers before walking further in. He propped his hands on his hips and considered the one bed.
(That was going to be a problem… wouldn't it?)
"Damn, this place didn't sound busy. Ya think this is all they had?" Rin asked before shrugging and moving to sit down on the futon. It was comfortable at least.
Ryuuji did not think this was all they had. He was fairly certain it had been a deliberate choice, if not a strange one. His mother only gave this sort of room out for couples that requested it.
He’d simply sleep on the floor. The tatami mat was enough for him. Rin could have the bed and he’d take one of the pillows and his coat. Or maybe request a second blanket.
“Maybe she wanted to make sure we could work together or something. Or didn’t want to waste resources on us.”
But no, that didn’t make sense either since she’d said they had access to everything.
Ryuuji set his bags down with a shrug. “We can set up our operations here either way. Maybe get something to eat after we set up the wards?” They’d need the energy for the night and he’d need the nutrients back after casting all those spells.
"Sounds fine with me!" Rin would just… offer to share the bed. Neither of them  could afford a bad sleep while on a mission. Too much at stake.
"I can't sense anything really bad and nobody has died, right?" Rin said before standing back up to help Ryuuji with the bags.
“No. There weren’t any reported deaths.” Ryuuji pulled the report’ out of the bag as he straightened. It was the smallest one he’d ever been given. It had mentioned moving objects, broken objects, strange sounds, and bad luck.
It could be any of a number of things. The information didn’t really narrow it down at all. Half of it could be explained away simply because the building was old.
“Honestly, I don’t have any idea what it is. It could be anything. Or nothing. There hasn’t been a real sighting of anything.” He shook his head.
“We’ve got nothing. We’re going to have to gather the intel and just… wait.”
"Great. Waiting is my favorite!" Rin sarcastically said, peeking at the pitiful report.
He could hear the sound of trees blowing in the breeze and the tap of slippers on wood. The cool air wasn't rotten so definitely not Astaroth Kin.
"We can walk around after we eat." Rin suggested. He wouldn't just wait unless he seriously had to. (He was bad at waiting.)
Ryuuji snorted and put the useless report away. Then he paused in consideration. “Do you think we should change to not stand out?” It could be some kind of cloaking or intelligent demon. They had no information on it.
(But also the idea of wearing a matching yukata to Rin was making him blush a little. Not that he’d really stopped blushing.)
Rin looked down at his uniform, compulsively brushing a hand down the front. "Probably."
The black coated uniform stood out with the shining Order emblem and it was recognizable for what it meant. That didn't matter for mindless demons but the intelligent ones (most demons were surprisingly intelligent) knew with just a glance.
“We don’t want to stand out to the guests either.”
Ryuuji shrugged his coat off, pulling his spare beads and sachet out. He wouldn’t need anything else. Rin would handle the offense and Ryuuji didn’t need more than this for their defense. Besides, the goal was just to get information. At least for now. They weren’t going to fight what they didn’t know. Ryuuji was not letting them get anything like a bad report for this exorcism.
He moved to take off his shirt and paused before deciding to hell with it and just shrugging that off as well, neatly folding them and setting them aside to join the rest of his clothing.
The yukata was soft, if not warm, and had a pocket, so he hid the sachet and spare beads in there along with the key. (He trusted Rin, but not with a room key. His friend would lose that in a second.)
Rin followed Ryuuji's lead ( not staring at Ryuuji's warm and smooth looking skin and damn Rin just wanted to… nope, nevermind) stripping off the damning evidence that they were exorcists and picked up his own yukata with a happy, "oh!" He tossed his clothes aside in a clump.
"I like this one." Rin said as he wrapped himself up in it. His tail poked out the bottom and he reluctantly wrapped it around himself. He liked how Ryuuji looked in the thin red material but he couldn't exactly say that and he really shouldn't stare and, shit, he was planning on sharing a bed with Ryuuji and this would be a problem. "These are nice."
“My ma has all different colors and designs. I should let her know —” Ryuuji cut himself off before he could say this Ryokan matches couples. He was entirely sure that’s what she’d done (Nirvana did it ever look like she had) but he wasn’t going to say it one way or another when it was Rin he was partnered with.
“You need anything?” he motioned towards their supplies and hoped Rin didn’t ask for clarification.  He tried not to stare too much at just how much of Rin’s neck and collar were now visible. He’d managed to avoid looking when Rin was pulling it on, but he hadn’t expected the outfit itself to look like that. (Good and thin enough to show off Rin’s natural form.)
Rin laughed at the mention of Ryuuji's mother and flapped a hand. "I'm trying to not be biased about my favorite ryokan. And no, I don't need anything. I've got everything I need!"
Rin spread his empty hands and beckoned to himself as if he was fully decked out with weapons.
"I wonder what's for food!" Rin cheerfully said as he adjusted his tail around his middle.
Ryuuji could feel himself getting ready to rattle off a list of possibilities that his mom served and managed to stop himself. He was not going to spend this entire trip rattling off facts and gushing about home.
They’d find dinner and set everything up. He’d figure out the bed problem later.

once I do move on to linen though I will also have to buy some books, and unfortunately because they have small print runs the recommended books don't have much cheaper second-hand sales (I went to the second-hand bookstore downtown today and they didn't have a single one on the subject!)
there's some information online but for full tutorials and stuff books are necessary. and I'll probably have to take a trip to Aomori again at some point because only a few shops and museums have at least a nominal online presence haha
well. I'll get that souvenir blackcurrant curry I passed up last time I was there... ONCE I HAVE MONEY.

Congratulations on 3 years! Can I request leather bag forBakugo? Thank you so much!
I took 4 million years to answer this. I apologize. My new teaching job has literally sucked every ounce of energy I have. I'm starting to get into the routine now though which gives me time to write again :)

“This is us!” You look over to your boyfriend excitedly as the train beings to slow down for the next stop. You hop up from your seat and reach for your bag resting on the overhead rack. You had changed trains twice already, but the fatigue of traveling was outweighed by your eagerness.
“I’ve got it,” Bakugo sighs while gently nudging you forward up the aisle so that he can grab your stuff for you. There’s an uncertain scowl on his face as looks out the window. “Are you sure this is right?” From what he could tell, you both were in the smack-dab middle of nowhere. There wasn’t even anyone else on the train, which made him wonder if there was really anything out here worthy of seeing.
“Uh, I think so?” You shrug sheepishly as you exit the train. There wasn’t even a train station where you were, just a concrete platform in the middle of endless rice patties with the silhouette of Mount Iwaki in the distance.
“You think so?” Bakugo repeats, fighting the urge to push you back onto the train before it could leave both of you stranded.
“It’s fine,” You slip your hand into his as the train pulls away and the complete stillness of being alone sets in. “Look, we’ll just follow that road. I think we have to go to that tower over there.”
Bakugo had to admire your sense of adventure. To him, vacations had always meant sunny places, relaxing days, and nice hotels. Ever since meeting you though, he’d found that discovering new places, trying new things, and getting out of his comfort zone could be just as rejuvenating as lounging on a beach or going to the crowded and overpriced places where most people spent their holidays.
He keeps a comforting grip on your hand as you both hike up the road towards the tower you’d spotted. A car would pass by every couple of minutes, but the walk was spent in solitude for the most part. Despite his uncertainty, Bakugo enjoyed the chance to chat with you about the nice old lady you’d both met at the first train station this morning, possible ideas for dinner that night, and what adventure you might go on the next day. It wasn’t often that he got to be out with you without people gawking or coming up to ask him for a picture or autograph. Being out in rural areas like this gave him the opportunity to feel like a normal guy.
“Look! People!” You tell him teasingly as you come up to a small gravel parking lot sitting at the foot of the tower. There were a few cars parked there and a handful of people meandering the area, all of them older. A man in a uniform was stationed at the door of the tower with a roll of tickets. Bakugo pays for two and then lets you go in front of him to start climbing the stairs since they were too narrow for you both to walk side by side.
When you reach the top, you step out onto the balcony high above the ground and let out a hum of surprise. “Katsuki! Wow!” He steps out right after you, sliding his arm around your waist protectively even though there’s a railing to stop anyone from falling.
“Oh!” His eyebrows shoot up as he takes in the view. The seemingly normal rice fields you’d walked through before had actually been used as a canvas. Different colors of rice plants had been strategically planted to create a massive work of art that could only be appreciated by a view from above. “They made the Momotaro fairy tale.”
“It’s amazing!” You pull out your phone to try and take a picture even though the art was too vast to fit in one shot. “This is certainly worth the trip over, don’t you think?”
“Yeah, definitely!” his replay comes quickly and genuinely. “Here, turn around so we can get a picture together.” His apprehension from before had all but vanished. He should’ve known you’d never suggest something that ended up being disappointing. And even if you both did end up somewhere dull one day, the experience of journeying together always seemed to strengthen your relationship and bring you closer than before.

While we plan a variety of field trips throughout the year, we only manage to gather the entire team once annually. However, even when not all team members are able to attend, we still go ahead with the trips, which are an important part of our work and play culture. These trips also allow us to field test our products and see how well our Smart Dolls stand up against the elements. Most recently, we headed to Aomori in Northern Japan to play in the winter wonderland. Aomori is a prefecture located in the northern part of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It is known for its natural beauty, particularly in the winter months when snow covers the landscape and creates a picturesque winter wonderland. This time we spent time around Oirase Gorge and Mount Hakkoda - some of us exploring the terrain while some went for a round of snowboarding. There was one thing I learned from this trip - our girls need more water-resistant wear - and snowboard gear too ;-) This time I took Forty and Courage - the gray skin tone looks so good in the snow! Which of these two would you like to be released next? More photos from this field trip in the “Keep calm and travel with Smart Doll” section on the Smart Doll website. #tokyo #smartdoll #anime #manga #3dprinting #japan (at 星野リゾート 奥入瀬渓流ホテル - Hoshino Resorts OirasekeiryuHotel) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpbYHJpyaLA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
