holy shit this year marks 10 years of this blog and moz!! i can't remember the exact date i started posting here - my archive says i have one post from november 2013 but let's disregard that - but i do remember it was around late 2014/early 2015 :)

2014 → baby's first rpg!! i started playing fnv on my cousin's jailbroken xbox late 2013 and finished mid 2014 and i loved every minute of it. i remember waking up at 8am and playing almost nonstop until 2am the next day haha!

i didn't play moz on my first playthrough - but i did start creating a character that would eventually become her: a shorthaired ex-boxer who punched her way through obstacles when diplomacy failed. i remember she spent a lot of time with boone. i liked him then, because he saved my ass more times than i can count. but i digress. this is draft 1 moz essentially

2015 → this is the year that i was doing my thesis so i could graduate but i was so depressed and stressed about it that i distracted myself by replaying fnv on pc, where i played through the dlcs for the first time. i fell in love with the dlcs' oversarching story; particularly ulysses, who i became obssessed with, especially since i couldn't find any content of him at the time. in the game, i played as moz; i had most of her personality and choices down, but her backstory was still up in the air.

fun fact: this was an existing sideblog that i remade to be a fallout blog so i could look for ulysses content, and when i couldn't find any, i made some myself, featuring moz as my main courier six. originally, i didn't ship them, but eventually i ended the year as a courier/ulysses otp shipper.

this was the year i started drawing digitally - my uncle let me borrow a drawing tablet and i used an old copy of photoshop i pirated hehe

2016 → i graduated this year!! and promptly fell deeper into my depression. this was the year that it got so bad that i had to be medicated. through it all, this blog and moz and ulysses and my fandom friends were with me. and for that i am truly grateful :) this was the year i figured out how to lock transparent pixels so that i could color my lineart lol

2017 → i started hammering out moz's backstory this year i think. there's a lot of sketches of her and her family in my files. i experimented with shading and backgrounds here but that experimentation was pretty short-lived

2018 → i started using references seriously!!!! i did a lot of oc on oc kissing this year, featuring mostly moz and many friend ocs haha

2019 → didn't draw much this year. actually this year was a blur and i can't remember much from it except from it being the year of my terrible no good bad copywriting jobs... anyway i did manage to continue my courier/ulysses brainrot and make this piece, which i'm still proud of

2020 → pandemic time. i spent a lot of time asleep at home and i think this was also the year i started doing commissions?? shoutout to anyone who has ever commissioned me - thank you so much, i truly appreciate it!!

2021 → i switched from my old-ass pirated photoshop to clip studio paint and never looked back. also i did a bunch of commissions for my grandmother's surgery, which failed, and i distracted myself from the sadness by drawing my ocs over and over and playing disco elysium

2022 → by this year, i've got moz down pat and have started vaguely developing other ocs instead. but she's still always at the back of my mind

2023 → i bought new brushes from true grit texture supply and immediately found new favorites that i started using for everything. i tentatively started incorporating background elements in some pieces!

2024 → while it's still too early to say where this year will lead me art-wise, i will say that i started experimenting in realistic paint studio (which i bought in 2021, the same time as clip studio paint) a few days ago and i'm liking the results so far. we'll see!

all in all, these last 10 years have been quite a ride, but i'm glad i stuck around and i'm glad you guys stuck around too!! much much love 💖💖💖

Hehehe artists commentary time. Cause idk I wanna talk about it.

This took me a long time ngl. I mean part of that was a took a break and then had to actively make myself sit down and finish it, which I don't regret.

This was the first time I've drawn Ranno and Liligator (as well as greninja from the front), so between that and the character spacing, posing, lineart, the fact I didn't have an actual lineart pen for most of this, and attempted color matching (cough cough perfectionist cough), it was a challenge. Dude color matching Liligator's blue was really frustrating for a while, but I'm happy with how it turned out. And its As Close As I Can Get™. Ranno's bubbles gave me hell when I started coloring them. I swatched a lot of potential strategies before I tried on the sketch, so eventually it worked out and I think they work pretty good. I've drawn greninja a couple times cause they're my main in ssbu, but MAN. Drawing them from the front. Not doing that again anytime soon I'm doing just great with a three quarters angle thanks. I still think their face looks off, but I redrew their eyes at least 50 times and had to just Leave It if I ever wanted to continue.

Despite all of that, I had such a clear image of this idea in my head so I went and put it on paper. Honestly this was really fun and I like having a project I can chip away at for a couple days.

"Sticky": Tiger Skin Egg with Sauce.

(Clip Studio Paint, Gouache Brush, Gouache Blender, Airbrush tool. 10 colors, 45 minutes.)

Cripes, I almost forgot to post this one. Been a busy bee the last few days.

The first time I made this dish it was all going perfectly until it came time to caramelize the sauce. It goes from runny and thin to thick in what feels like 30 minutes and then from thick to CHARRED AND AWFUL in 0.5 seconds. I'm not a stranger to syrups and sugary sauces! Maybe it's the soy sauce that's dangerous because the color can't indicate early signs of caramelization that I can see? But I make brown sugar glazes for fruit all the time. And my standard stir fry sauce has soy, brown sugar, and gochujang in it, which are all dark, and I've never burnt those things. Anyway, first time I made these was a disaster. The eggs were overcooked because the sauce took too long to thicken and then I burnt it so it tasted terribly perfumey. But I remade the sauce by itself much more carefully later and it really is tasty! I just had an awful first attempt. Speaking of which, I need to do a proper study of craggly, crackly fried things. I can get away with a lot here because the rendering is a bit stylized and it's a shiny sauced egg, but trying to replicate that almost-breaded looking fried exterior from my reference was hard. I think we've established I'm fairly effective at drawing smooth things with all my shiny eggies of late but I need to learn how to draw coarser, rougher textures. Maybe more pencil tool next time.

Despite the unfamiliar textures being a challenge, it was fun. And of course I got to make it deliciously shiny. The speedpaint makes it all look so competent and deliberate and my ass is sitting here like "Past me has the competence of a god, or at least seems like it, but I know that bitch personally and I know for a fact there was internal screaming for part of it. "It's bumpy in the reference! There's texture there! But how do I do that? AUGH!" And then it turned out fine anyway, despite faffing around. Gotta get better at trusting my process and actually treating these as LEARNING experiences like last year. Self mantra of "It doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be an egg. If it's hard, that mean's you're learning." Actively squash that little voice in my brain that doubts. Making art is about the making. The art is just a coincidence. It can be a product later if I decide so, but that's not the objective. The objective is to turn 1s and 0s and funny little lights on a funny little screen into things that look like eggs and manifest something that didn't exist anywhere before except my brain. No doubts, no stress. Only eggy. Plus at the end I can stare at past me making egg very fast like magic. I do like that part. Bless CSP for having a native timelapse capture feature. I just get to click a button and share with you all my magical process.

Posting here too! Just so I can give a longer explanation a bit for the few pieces I've been able to scramble for Sean.

Now I'm not the best at drawing people so it's very rare that I get to try to draw fanart for Sean and the community but I'll share the few I've been able to do!

Starting with the spring banner I made for Sean's server! Has to be one of my favorites becos I loved how it turned out and the fact that I somehow won the banner contest. It's always such a funny shock to go onto the server and see my art there. I've never been so proud of an accomplishment like that.

Next up is the Chase brody youtooz plush concept. Now I did this for kicks and giggles (/hj. Please Sean. We need sad dad plushies.) But it was pretty funny that that reference sheet got way more attention than I thought. And at the time of iris being fairly new was also so funny to me. He looks so sad. I need 17 of them.

King of the daisies portrait! My one piece of fanart that got the most recognition from the community! I spent a grueling 5-6 hours on this piece. It was during a time of art block so I wanted to try drawing realism for a month (didn't go exactly a month but I tried!) And this was my second attempt of the month and it came out so well. I absolutely adore it. And the inspiration came from when Sean announced that white daisies were his favorite flowers. So of course to honor the flow3r king, I did that for him. (Also another reason the banner, he's wearing a daisy crown!)

And finally the anti portrait. This one I made at work actually right before I was contacted for winning a meet and greet ticket to face time Sean through moment house. And to calm my nerves for the next couple days, I worked on this piece. (I referenced an art piece done by turquoise magpie I believe for this one!) But also another part of my month realism challenge!

The 2 realistic portraits hold a special place in my heart. Becos even through the horrendous wifi (and my uncontrollable anxiety) and cutting out during my meet and greet, I had the chance to show him them. I just didn't get to hear or see his reactions properly but the fact I showed him at all for him to see was more than enough.

Annnd then these last art pieces (I'm frankly TERRIFIED of showing. Unsure if it counts as fanart buttt)

These first 2 photos are reference pieces for my "JJ" inspired OC/Fursona. He is considered my comfort character who I tend to draw and doodle whenever I'm feeling down or having a bad day. Jameson (and chase) are my favorite egos and I find comfort in them. Not sure why, but I do. I feel like they just came at times I was struggling the most and brought joy to me though. Just Sean in general has done as such.

And the last photo is a book cover I created for a short story I'm writing with my self insert OC and chase Brody (along with the other egos).

The short story takes part of a community I'm in that surrounds giant/smalls/humans folklore and certain cultures surrounding a time of creatures big and small, Aka G/T! Think of any fairy tales like jack and beanstalk or even japenese animes like the secret world of ariety or movies and books like "The borrowers". (Another comfort for me. I find writing helpful as well for bad days and to also center and express myself again)

Anyways one of my favorite human pieces I've ever completed on my own through lots of practice and failed sketches (my good friend zora rendered and shaded it for me! Actual drawing, linework and coloring done by me!)

Anyways, I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome so I'll cut it off here!

I thank you both for doing this revival! I was never able to participate truely with "septicart" but I'm glad I can right now through this :)

valentine's weird shading not-a-tutorial tutorial

let me preface this by saying that i am not very good at tutorials, hence the "not-a-tutorial" in the title. let me continue prefacing this by saying that tumblr's search function is still shit and ass, making me incapable of trying to find the post i wanted to and forcing my hand into making my own instead. if anyone has the link to the post i'm talking about feel free to send it to me or something. anyway let's get into it

so the one thing that helped improve my art's lighting and shading drastically is, instead of thinking shadows being additive, is to think of light being subtractive instead. again emphasis on the words "my art" so this might not work for you personally + this probably also only really works in a digital medium, but like. what do i mean by that?

enlisting the help of that one sketch of ghost/ray i drew once, i've slapped together a few pics that may or may not help make the point i'm trying to make clearer. i dunno, but either way you're gonna want to decide where your light source is coming from first before you start. ok let's go

anyway, this is what i like to call "shadows being additive" or in layman's terms basically just drawing in your shadows by hand instead. this is probably how you've been taught to shade, and it works fine if you know what you're doing! however, since this pic of ghost just Standing There is pretty simple it makes shading this way relatively easy, but if your composition is more complex, you have a bunch of things blocking the light source, and/or you have weird perspective going on; then it might start getting pretty difficult. it sure as hell did for me in the past anyway

but. what if i told you. that there's a different way to approach shading

now introducing: "light being subtractive" aka drawing in your lights instead. in the real world, objects are naturally shrouded in darkness until a light source is present. this fact is then reflected in this shading style by having you begin with a layer filled with your shadow color before erasing the areas where your light hits (then refining it later). this style probably works better the more your knowledge of how objects reside within a 3d space is, but either way i personally prefer this shading style bc of how the shadows feel more organic to me + it works fantastic for dramatic lighting as well

honestly your layer mode doesn't even need to be set to multiply either. in a visual novel i released a while ago under a time constraint i chose to shade my sprite using pure black set to normal mode because it was faster to me than actually having to worry about the colors that come with using a multiply layer

but uhhh yeah either way that's how i got good at shading i guess by changing the way i approached doing it in the first place. hopefully this helps someone out there. idk man i'm not a professional artist or anything i just do this stuff for fun

Every day drawing an hc of a Ninjago character. Day №3

HELLOU!! It's that new thing again, that one where every day I draw an hc for a Ninjago character (that I use a filter, and i do the character that comes out) and for today was SKYLOR MY GF!! Obviously I was SO EXCITED for this one, because it's my wonderful, beautiful girlfriend (yes im Skylor simp, how not to be??) Coincidence that she came right after Clouse lol

I really liked this drawing! The hcs about color, I imagine her skin is tanned equally to Clouse and her eyes are a yellow mixed with orange. Taking this opportunity to say that I have the hc that she has several scars from different elements because at first she didn't know how to control them very well.

Fun fact: in my country, in the Portuguese dubbed version, in the scene where Skylor says "Hya Hot Shot!" to Kai, she actually says "Oi Gatinho~" Which would roughly translate to "Hi Kitten~" (and I freaked out in this scene, because my dream is for her to call me kitten😭💗) (And please ignore the sound quality on my TV😭😭 But it's this scene)

Obviously I've drawn her more times but none of the drawings were to my liking so I'm not going to post them here.

Tap, Untap. Concede?

Well, people voted on this one, so time to talk about this one! Years and years back, when I first assembled it, it was much more about stealing stuff and abusing the peculiar wording on Merieke's abilities allowing for a few shenanigans. Some of that remain to this day, Nightmare Shepherd, Faerie Artisans, Darksteel Plate...

it pivoted over the years onto much more of a generic focus on tap abilities and untap effects. Given the propensity of untap effects to go infinite, I kept discovering more ways to go infinite in the deck, so instead of fighting it, I went along with it. This deck will combo off if left unchecked for too long, that's a fact of life and the main wincon of the deck though stealing threats with Merieke is still here as a backup.

This is a deck I pull out relatively rarely among my pool, because more relaxed pods don't always want the pressure of playing against a combo deck, certainly not one with a commander that can steal things. But I enjoy playing it immensely, as it has a lot of interesting lines of play.

There's not one given combo for the deck, you're mostly assembling things on the fly. The basis of it is basically to generate a multiplicative untap source, something that can untap more permanents that it takes to generate the effect. As such, the main combo enablers for the deck will be Pemmin's Aura, Freed from the Real and Illusionist's Bracers. Some of them require another untapper, or a permanent that taps for two or more colored mana, or something else. Halo Fountain can also serve as the multiplying untap source in the right circumstances. Another way to combo is to use Unctus, which is a simple two card combo with Aphetto alchemist or three cards with any two untappers, allowing you to loot through your entire deck if necessary to find another combo. And of course, Staff of Domination can get out of hand, along with Lithoform Engine with some untap effects.

As far as actually winning the game, generating infinite untaps generally means you get access to infinite mana, and with any of the many, many tapping effects in this deck, also infinite of something else you can parley into a win. Halo Fountain can do the job of actually winning the game once everything is set up. Fain the Broker can generate an infinitely big army of infinitely big flying creatures that you can haste up with boots or a drawbridge. Merieke and Beguiler of Wills can steal your opponents' entire board. Shorikai will draw through your deck while making 40 1/1s that shaile can pump up infinitely. Wizard's Spellbook will copy all the spells in all the graveyards,...

Before you combo, of course, you also play cards with tap effects, creatures and artifacts, to get some value and play a "fair" gameplan. Be they upsides on mana rocks or just fun cards. In that area (and in others, as Norritt can attest, just not as much), the picks are very much cards that look fun and are on theme with their tapping effect more than "optimized" choices for everything. Shaile and Embrose are a pet card of mine, Oracle en-Vec is just fun to play with, and the Deck of Many Things is certainly not the best card ever printed.

The manabase is dated but I've barely touched it up over the years, there are certainly optimizations to make.

Something that's very convenient is the tendency for recent untappers to be able to target any permanent, which includes lands. This makes them double up as value engine and ramp in this deck, and is particularly potent with lands or rocks that tap for more than one mana, which in this deck also happen to be combo pieces. Lotus Field, bouncelands, Empowered Auto-Generator. This deck can get up to high amounts of mana, and doesn't always have enough fuel to spend it on. Probably means it should go a bit heavier on card draw, but slots are slots.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite decks to pilot as mentioned earlier, I just make sure that any opponents facing it know what they're dealing with and to try and stop me.

Rain Draws Squirrelflight, Leafpool & Bramblestar a Few Times

Since these three won my poll on which protagonists I should draw, here they are!

They don't get as much art per character as Ashfur did, because that was one character and this is three. Trust me, this was faster and more do-able

So anyways, first up is the Squirrel herself!

I draw Squirrelpaw generally softer & bouncier looking than I draw Squirrelflight, because at this point in time she's just a kid. She has not yet witnessed the Horrors(tm)

Even when I was reading The New Prophecy for the first time as a kid, I always imagined Squirrelpaw/Squirrelflight as having little round ears. Maybe it was just the "Squirrel" prefix, but that trait has always stuck with me and I've always drawn her with small ears.

This isn't a trait unique to Squirrelflight with my designs though! In her family alone, Cloudtail, Alderheart, Lionblaze and Nutmeg also have small, rounded ears (Princess might also have them, but I haven't decided yet. I also haven't decided if any of Cloudtail or Lionblaze's kits have the rounded ears, but at least one probably does)

I wish that she had kept her telepathy thing with her sister, I honestly thought it was interesting. It's a shame that the Erins quickly ran out of uses for it and decided to pretend it never existed. This may or may not be why in my rewrite of Warriors that exists in my head (like many others in this fandom), the telepathy thing didn't stop existing as soon as it wasn't super useful the plot anymore.

Admittedly, she's always been my favorite of the cats who journeyed to the sun-drown place (though tbf, most of them didn't really get any proper development, and the other one was Brambleclaw. I do have a soft spot for Stormfur and Tawnypelt, though).

Also I... forgot to color Squirrelkit's mouth. Whoops

The lady with a somehow worse taste in men than her sister, Squirrelflight!

Please Squirrelflight, you could've done so much better than Bramblestar. You deserve so much better than Bramblestar.

That aside, Squirrelflight has been one of my favorites for a long time. I just think she's a fun and interesting character

I think I said basically all of the things I was going to say when I was talking about Squirrelpaw, tbh. Also, much like a lot of the fandom for some reason, I don't really remember much of what happened during OotS? I don't think Squilf was particularly relevant during that arc, but it's possible she was and I just genuinely do not remember.

Why is Omen of the Stars basically just a void in everyone's memory. What's going on there.

Anyways, those aren't the final designs for Lionkit, Hollykit & Jaykit in that little doodle. Those are just kind of rough concept designs for them, and when I eventually draw them they'll probably look different. Also this is tortie Hollyleaf propaganda

If Lionblaze can be golden (though I typically draw him as cream) when both of his parents are functionally black (brown = black when it comes to cats. Also Leafpool shouldn't be a brown tabby anyways, because her dad is red and her mom is cream, which is a dilute version of red. I should stop talking now, before I get too deep into rambling about cat genetics), then Hollyleaf can be a tortie. (Jayfeather's fine btw. Gray is a dilute version of black, and both of his parents carry dilute. Crowfeather from Ashfoot & Leafpool from Sandstorm)

Okay, I'll finally shut up about cat genetics now

If Squirrelstar doesn't happen, I will eat my hat. I will eat several hats.

I actually don't even know how old Squirrelflight is currently in the books. It doesn't help that the Erins are weird with ages and don't seem to know how cats work.

For my purposes, I choose to believe that the Clans have been at the lake for at least a decade, making Squilf at least 10 1/2 - 11 years old, depending on how old she was when the Clans left the forest territories. And putting her around that age would, in fact, make her a senior (for a house cat, at least. Real feral cats don't typically live that long, but tbf the clans have medicine and stuff, so their life expectancy might be longer than regular feral cats. But cats are considered seniors once they hit 10 years old)

Also all things considered, she's probably been stressed as hell for a while and experiencing the Horrors(tm). So she gets some gray on her muzzle from a combination of age and stress.

Honestly she deserves to go on a nice, relaxing vacation where she doesn't have to deal with the Erin's less than good writing choices and shitty treatment of female characters.

Anyways Squirrelstar's leader mark is her nose spot becoming star shaped, because I love it when leaders are depicted with some sort of star shaped marking. I eat it up every time.

I'll talk more about leader marks and how I do them at a later time, though.

Leafpaw! My sweet baby Leafpaw!

My version of Leafpool is big and very fluffy, and you can't stop me from drawing her that way

Right off the bat, you'll probably notice that her design has changed a bit from the original concept design that I posted, as she's now a tortie instead of a regular brown tabby. Admittedly, a big part of why she's a tortie now is that I just love torties & calicos haha

If anything, her name makes even more sense now, because the combination of brown and orange makes her look more like leaves during fall! :)

Why's Leaf a tortie but Squirrel isn't? Maybe Squirrelflight is a secret tortie, or maybe she's trans, who knows? (The actual answer is that I had already finished all the Squilf art when I randomly decided to have Leaf be a tortie, but I didn't want to go back and change Squilf's design because I love it)

I hope it's obvious that I love Leafpool a whole lot

Once again, Holly, Lion & Jay's designs in this are not their final designs and when I eventually get around to actually drawing them, they'll definitely have at least a few design changes.

Also it's really hard to draw tiny little newborn kittens on a small scale like this.

Anyways I've never actually read Leafpool's Wish, so I don't know if it proves or disproves what I'm about to say, but I think that with how much Leafpool loved her kits, I believe that she would've raised them herself if she had the ability to.

I also personally believe that if Squirrelflight hadn't decided to take in the kits, or if Leafpool had decided that she wanted to raise her kits instead of her sister doing it, Thunderclan wouldn't have done shit about it. I mean, she definitely wouldn't be as trusted as she was before, but I don't think she'd lose her job (at least at first) or be exiled. She was their only medicine cat, they literally couldn't do shit about it. Additionally, she's Firestar's daughter and also related to Sandstorm and Squirrelflight, who are both individually forces to be reckoned with.

She'd probably have to train an apprentice as soon as possible and then have to step down from her role as medicine cat, but I definitely don't think she'd be exiled or anything.

Leafpool but she sparkles

For anyone who didn't see my Ashfur post, some of the rules I have for Starclan designs is that Starclan cats are lighter in color and have sharper & more star shaped markings compared to when they were alive. They also have their appearances change over time in a way connected to their names, which is why Leafpool is starting to grow leaves out of her neck fluff.

Additionally, Starclan cats will typically have a sharper shape, to go with their sharper markings. You'll notice that while she has the sharper markings, Leafpool's fur is still soft and rounded.

I feel like Leafpool's whole thing with her trial would affect her Starclan appearance, but that's not really something that results from a trial, so her not becoming sharper in shape is the exception rather than the rule.

I didn't design a Dark Forest Leafpool, but I imagine that the changes she'd get there (because my DF cats have their appearances change based on their crimes) would be that she would still grow leaves out of her body, but she'd also grow feathers and would have particularly long and sharp claws that she wouldn't be able to sheath. Each of these things is representative of the "crime" that she was sentenced for (even though Spottedleaf, a Starclan cat, literally encouraged her to do that)

The leaves would specifically be holly leaves (representing, well... Hollyleaf), the feathers would be a mix of jay and crow (representing Jayfeather & Crowfeather) and the claws would represent Lionblaze (though for this one I went with something meant to represent his power instead of his name. With Leafpool being a medicine cat, I think it fits)

If Leafpool doesn't give Squirrelstar a life we riot

Honestly even as a kid Brambleclaw wasn't exactly my favorite character. I wasn't really old enough to really process how he sucks, honestly I just kind of remember thinking that he was boring. Maybe that's just the fact that I've always liked Squirrelflight & Leafpool way more than him, but I just didn't really care for his POV chapters during The New Prophecy

I did love the Hawkfrost scene, though. Because I wasn't on any warrior cats forums or anything as a kid, I didn't get spoiled about stuff like Hawkfrost's death or the Fire Scene (along with many other important scenes), so I think those scenes hit way harder for me.

When I was a kid reading Po3 for the first time, I genuinely didn't even suspect that Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw weren't Hollyleaf, Lionblaze & Jayfeather's biological parents. So you can probably imagine how shocked little elementary school me was

But anyways, yeah. While I didn't hate Brambleclaw as a kid, I just didn't really care about him.

On another note, my Brambleclaw/star design is pretty similar in shape to my Lionheart design (just with extra toes and not as big of a mane). Since Lionheart was Goldenflower's brother, I thought it would be interesting if while everyone else just saw Tigerclawstar in Bramble's appearance, Goldenflower didn't.

My Tawnypelt design has a more similar shape to Tigerclawstar, though.

Bramblestar!

Leader marks are usually an already existing marking that becomes star shaped (like how I made Squirrelstar's nose spot star shaped), but sometimes a new marking entirely will appear as the leader mark.

While I easily could've made one of the spots on the backs of his ears into a star shaped for his leader mark, I have plans relating to Bramblefake/The Imposter and Bramblestar's mark.

You'll see said plans in a moment, but what I will mention about it is that my Ashfur design has a broken heart shaped marking on his chest.

On an unrelated note, Bramblestar should have someone else name warriors for him because great Starclan is he bad at names.

There's totally nothing wrong with Bramblestar, what possibly could've made you think that

Anyways, a combination of the whole being possessed thing & Ashfur's broken heart marking have caused Bramblestar's leader mark to "break". It actually doesn't get fixed after he's no longer possessed, his leader mark stays that way.

The Imposter's fur is darker and droopier than regular Brambkestar. I don't have a real reason for the darker color (other than that it looks cool), but the fur is Ashfur's doing.

Another thing that is Ashfur's doing is the blue pupils. Bramblestar is supposed to have red pupils (due to him training in the Dark Forest in TNP), but being possessed kind of overrides that and so The Imposter's pupils are blue. They do turn red again after Bramblestar is no longer possessed, though.

Honestly, I still kind of wish that the theory that Bramblestar had rabies was canon. The possession was interesting, but I don't think rabies has even been mentioned in the series. Which is a bit surprising considering that it's basically a soap opera with cats, but then again the Erins sure do love taking the opportunity to ignore possible interesting new plots. Why do anything interesting when we could instead have a billion more badly written romances

But I will admit, it was interesting to have Ashfur come back to be awful again. I'm still mad that he got let into Starclan after trying to kill at least 4 people because he "loved too much" and that gave him more of an opportunity to pull this shit. They absolutely butchered Yellowfang after she died. Not really even recognizable as the same character as her living self.

I'm not doing more art for this post. I'm tired and I'm going to go get some sleep. Tomorrow I will get back to work on hypokit requests, but for now it is time to put away my art supplies and lay in bed.

this was the very first time I ever actually drew Donnie right, where he didn't make me nauseous just by looking at him, and IT WAS FROM THIS WEIRD SPECIFIC ANGLE FROM SOME REASON. If I ever drew him in a way that looked good it was almost always THIS angle, especially in doodles, it was never ever Donnie actually facing front, it was just him with this weird slouch and his back turned slightly.

I made a joke about Donnie giving Leo his own tablet because he kept stealing it based on a very old drawing back in 2019 and it led to the idea of Leo turning into an Ipad kid, crusty screen and Ipad case in all its glory

if it wasn't obvious the background is a png of McDonald's because of course they're at McDonald's

ok, this is gonna sound so stereotypically ADHD of me but listen it makes sense lemme explain

so basically, I had a silly thought in my head that I've had for a long while about Donnie being British for no reason with no explanation as to why, it's not a headcanon it's just a funny thought I like to think about (so maybe it's an AU idk)

and I was binging Jack Whitehall (who was British) and it got to the part where he went on a schpiel on Robert Pattinson where he was talking about what it was like to go to school with him and there was this one section where he talks about being in school theatre with him.

and I thought.... "man wouldn't it be funny if that was the disaster twins..." and everything spiraled from there.

I made up this whole Yokai school they would have gone to if they didn't live in the sewers. Donnie is the head of the drama club, he always plays and casts himself as the main character in his own productions that he himself directs because he's just that good at his job. Leo joins the drama club and shows Donnie up, making him a little bit jealous. Leo is only let in because of the club members vouching for him, Which then leads to Donnie treating him poorly and casting him as a tree (SEE WERE COMING FULL CIRCLE) this obviously upsets Leo and ends up giving him more of a reason to become the center of attention, What was supposed to be a drag ended up helping Leo more than harming his chances of ruining Donnie's plans.

Everything then spirals into a competitive back and forth as to who is the better actor. It stops being about who gets to play which part and more about who comes out of this feud alive with a prestigious acting role tied to their name.

That was everything I thought about at the time though I just thought "HAHA DISASTER TWINS HIJINX" and that was it

someone send me that Donnie toy with the big head and maybe I will start writing fanfiction/JJJJJ

I had this idea of Donnie adopting a dog from Todd because it had an attitude and then the dog ended up being just as smart as him helping him solve equations and stuff and eventually it became his lab partner

yeah that paired up with the RotTMNT drama club thing I sound like I have a very weird brain we're moving on

I have to admit this because I really didn't wanna post this without a heads up but yes this is inspired by that one drawing made by h*bermen right before I even knew about what they did and I feel guilty about this one sometimes just by the sheer fact that it's even loosely associated to them :/

I have nothing to say about this one other than I suck at rendering

this drawing of the boys fighting over their childhood blankie was supposed to be a bit of a concept for a comic I wanted to make but never got around to even writing it out,

the gist of it was that the lair was starting to get a bit messy with the things they've hoarded over the last couple of years, so the turtles+splinter decided to clean everything up, managing what to throw away and what to keep

they come across a blanket that they used to have as kids (which was the same blanket from the flashback in hidden city's most wanted) The individual turtles are hesitant at first and decline wanting to keep it, but overtime they start to realize just how much they want their childhood blanket back. They start making excuses and stealing the blanket from one another, insisting that they needed it for something important, which was very much not the case.

soon everything ramps up to the point where their methods of trying to take ownership of the blanket start getting wilder and wilder and hijinx ensues, not long before everyone overtly starts fighting over it like their life depended on it at the climax of the episode.

I didn't really have a plan yet as to how it was going to end, but if I were to make something up on the spot I'd say either:

A.) it's revealed that the blanket was actually splinter's old bath towel that he doesn't use anymore, the turtles are disgusted by this and stop fighting over it. That is until the twist at the end where one of the turtles comes back for it and takes the towel for themselves when no one is around. gross.

B.) Mikey stops the fight before it gets too serious, calling him and his brothers out for acting like savages over a blanket. Soon everyone realizes that the blanket isn't important, the blanket may be of great significance to them, but their memories together will always be more important, and they can't let a simple piece of cloth tear them apart.

and then after everyone else has left and made up, turns out that it was actually Mikey's plan all along to have them stop fighting to keep the blanket for himself.

this is more of a doodle but I had to bring this one up because it's just funny to me

basically, I was drawing Leo and I had two separate layers, I drew Leo photogenically on the layer above with the deranged Leo invisible underneath, and after some time I completely forgot what I drew on the layer below and made it visible again

welcome to the new cat comic blog! if you're reading this on tumblr, hello! if you're reading this on neocities, i love you more. page looks pretty snazzy, right? check out the very pretty melankorin.net, this page looked a lot more plain before i ate that page's design aesthetic.

it just so happens that yesterday, the 13th of april, 2024, was cat comic's first birthday. this comic is officially one year old! goo goo ga ga! it makes me glad and more than little scared that i've been working on this for so long. it's my longest-lived project to date and still going strong, which means a lot coming from my bloody trail of abandoned projects.

what the hell is cat comic about?

cat comic is a story born out of a lot of my fears vis-a-vis my creative projects. it's a story about creation, whether that deals with art, identity, or culture, and about the history that doggedly stamps itself on any creation, and about the problems of indie projects. it's a story about a cat and a dog and some other various animals who get into lots of trouble, and it's mainly a story about the end of the world.

i think you can tell that there's a lot of throughlines to my other work (unfinished or otherwise), which is pretty thematically appropriate. actually, cat comic was originally reusing far too much of eyrie, an old comic idea of mine. eyrie followed an aspiring paladin and their little buddy as they made their way to the shining capital of a theocratic nation, delving into a mirror world that reflected public perception of things along the way. it was a pretty fun concept.

anyway, it informed a lot of cat comic's original premise—it began with an ascent from belowcloud to a shining city in the sky. huh... sounds familiar. like eyrie, it also dealt a lot with divinity, mirrors, and perfection (as in: perfection in the eyes of society, not cat comic's current sense of it). it's fun looking back at these early drafts of cat comic because you can clearly see all the influences i was pulling on, big or small. i was pretty fine with doing this because, as it pains me to remember, cat comic was to be a "fun" and "short" project where i could "do whatever". haha.

cat comic's changed a lot since then and it's also hardly changed at all. a lot of the original ideas are still there in the batter, but it's also evolved into something pretty different and much closer to my heart. and it will continue to change and evolve! although perhaps not quite so drastically as it has over the last year.

what's the plan with this thing?

i had a conversation with a friend a while ago (hiii ardenna i know you're reading this. love you) about our respective story projects and our problems working on them as single creators. i don't have a team for art or writing—it's all me, babey—and that means everything about this project is going to take what we in the industry call a "long time".

this time next year, i want to have a comprehensive plot. that might sound like a lot of time for not a lot of work but believe me i need it—i'm doing a bit of a unique format for this story and i want to put the time in to make sure i stick the landing with it. my secondary goals for the next year also include finalizing designs for all of the main cast and making sure they're all fleshed out... basically, by next year, i want to be able to start actually drawing the comic. i don't want to start drawing it then but, just, you know, be able to.

as of last week, i've handed in my senior project (and passed with flying colors, thank you), which means i can start turning my attention to things other than that. i've already talked a bit in my 2024 blog post about my plans for the year and how i would like to devote the rest of the spring to exercising my comic muscles. i would like to stick to this plan, despite the fact that school is trying to murder me.

right now, i only have vague ideas of what those exercises will be. once i'm completely done with my senior project (report handed in at the end of this month) i'll start workshopping them. again, my priority with them is not telling a story so much as working on coloring, panelling and figuring out my workflow.

and, apart from my year-long goals and season-long goals, i just want to flesh out these pages a little more. i kind of rushed getting these up because i wanted to hit the birthday (and i didn't even manage that LOL). i want to get some more of my brain bits out on canvas! but they never tell you how hard it is to figure out how much you want to share and how much you want to keep to yourself for now. i'm making little lists and i think i'm doing a pretty good job.

I kinda do actually. I haven't really made any fanart yet nor did I ever mention it, but I actually enjoy IronOzQrow quite a bit, or perhaps ozqrowbleck.

This kinda depends on what you plan to twist it into. I'm fine with some add-ons or small changes, but would like the overal base of the au to remain the same, if that makes sense.

I do have an ao3 account, but I don't use it all that much -and quite frankly know next to nothing on how it works either lmao. Feel free to post your work on ao3 and tag me, but I do suggest tagging me in a post here on tumblr as well so I won't accidentally miss it😅

But anyways, as I'm sure everyone knows by now, I really like to draw. I've been drawing for as long as I remember, and I've been drawing fanart for rwby again since late 2019 I believe. (Yes again, the first time would've been around 2014/2015(?), of which some posts still exist on my instagram page haha). And like every media I've ever created for, I tend to latch onto the (often tragic) side characters with little screentime. Because of that, these characters usually don't have a lot known about them. So I usually tend to fill in the rest with headcannons. I actually have a few for Oz here as well, should you maybe want add some of those to your work👀

As for favorite foods, I love a good lasagna, or a nice pepperoni or shawarma pizza. Melted cheese is my kryptonite, and so is garlic bread lol.

My favorite color is purple. And my favorite animal changes from time to time, but usually goes from dogs to crows or ducks :>

I listen to a wide variety of music genres, but I think the majority of my playlist exists out of metal music.

This was touched on in the first drawing, but Donnie's reason for why his wings can fold is because he got the trait from a moth relative of theirs. In "reality", his wings fold mainly so that it would be easier to transport his puppet self, but also so that his wings wouldn't take up the entire frame when filming (homie's got big wings)

There are siblings in the Pillar family that are even older than Donnie and younger than Howdy, so they're both technically middle children. R.I.P 😔

Ruby doesn't have any siblings of any sort, she was always an only child

The cast would all die and absolutely destroy just about anyone for the sake of Ruby, no cap. She's precious!

I tried to design Donnie to sort of be in the middle of Howdy and clownsuu's oc Robbie (such as his skin color being kinda in the middle of theirs, Donnie being primarily rectangles compared to Howdy's circles and Robbie's triangles, etc.)

When they first visited Frank FREAKED. He got super excited at the fact that Donnie was a butterfly, and he often talks to him and asks him lots of questions for research reasons (also because they're pretty chill with eachother lol)

Wally has been seen having staring contests with the "fake eyes" on Donnie's wings. Sometimes Wally actually wins! How? Who knows!

Ruby's wings flutter when she's happy or when she laughs. Sometimes you can hear a faint buzzing sound from her wings when you find her listening to Barnaby's jokes!

Donnie can be described as calm, cool, kind, patient, confident (for the most part), stubborn, and protective

Ruby could be described as sweet, kind, curious, bubbly, energetic, talkative, and sensitive

Learning art update

So I kinda forgot to update my progress in here for a while... Ooops.

Second attempt at art had me struggling with proportions (again) as I drew an overweight piplup and a slightly odd fomantis. I am moderately happy with those tho and can definitely see some improvement from the first time. Trying to draw basic shapes and build up from them seems to be working but fucks me up when its complex shapes I can't break down (Im looking at you fomantis' bushy forehead)

As you can see very clearly, eye size and placement is my passion.

I also did a third stream with more attempts. A dear friend keeps saying that "my mind is fascinating" while watching me, she's referring to the fact that I seem very methodical in my approach but I'm a software dev I literally learn by following a method seeing if it works and fixing shit after seeing the results. "Just winging it" is not how my brain works and is VERY hard to do. I did attempt tho! The third batch of drawings had me draw another ralts and a rowlet. I am extremely happy with how the ralts turned out! I can see some progress in my drawing skills, there's still a lot to do but I can confidently say that's my frist "good" drawing (I don't wanna look at it tho cause I keep seeing stuff that is wrong). Finally rowlet was an attempt at "going by the vibes" and not think too much about it. The result is not bad but honestly switching that part off in my brain is hard, I might need a different approach to that... There was also a spinarak drawing but it was so bad i scrapped it

Asfdhgd seriously though, believe me, I have no problem rambling about Trolls all day jvjfjhf. This is not gonna be very coherent, so sorry in advance. 😅 (Also, thank you, I'm so glad you like my work! <3)

Okay so. I've actually been here since the trailer for the first movie came out (I wasn't very active in the fandom back then, though). I was already invested from that moment on, specifically in the two main characters, Poppy and Branch, and their dynamic, who I took one look at and said, "yeah, I ship that" hfjhf. I think what mostly got to me was the characters, the designs, the fact that it's such a fun and colorful world, and of course, the music. The songs are so good! Like, all of them. Yes, they are mostly just covers of already popular songs with some word changes here and there, but my GOD, are they good covers! But anyway, love me a musical with fun characters! Personally, I think all of the characters have deeper issues about them than what you can see on the surface and what you would expect from a children's movie franchise. Like, Branch has so much trauma it really just feels like in every movie they are just trying to give him more and more problems hdkhdjd. Which of course, makes him a pretty compelling character altogether. Do other characters have as deep issues as him? Some of them. But like, they don't really have that much screentime, sadly. While Poppy and Branch are equally important characters in the first movie (and well, in all of the movies, imo), the second movie is what I would dub as "Poppy's Character Development - The Movie" jgkjfjfj. While the first movie operates with the whole "happiness is inside of all of us, we just need someone to help us find it" kinda message (which doesn't fully stick the landing but oh well), the second goes for stuff like differences, equality (of sorts), and tbh some kind of colonialism metaphor?? It also widens the world of trolls as we've known it, as we learn of other tribes of trolls, who are all connected through different kinds of music. So the whole worldbuilding here just makes things even more interesting.

Now the third movie. In the words of youtuber Mann of 1000 Thoughts, it "gives no fucks in all the right ways". Tbh the Trolls timeline has already been questionable, as is, with the Netflix tv shows that came out after the first and second movies, but this just throws another ranch in the system, and says fuck you to the timeline altogether jckbfh. Like, I managed to make it work once I dedicated a good half hour figuring out how Branch's secret long lost brothers who he was in a band with when he was a baby fit into the picture, but it's not perfect even then. There would definitely still be plotholes gkfhfgf. But at this point you just gotta turn your suspension of disbelief on and just go along with it, cuz it is SUCH a fun experience besides all that. (This goes for all the movies btw. Turn your brain off, you're gonna have a great time jfkhf.) Ngl this is the movie that really got me to jump right back into the fandom with full force, and now I'm back to thinking about all of the previous movies as well and appreciating all of the characters. Tbh when I watched the trailer for the third movie, I thought that the whole long lost brothers storyline was the worst idea they have ever come up with, and then I watched the movie and I was like, "fuck this is the best thing ever" gjfgdhd. Idk, we learn enough about Branch's brothers for them to be compelling characters of their own, while we also have a 20 year old gap in which we can pretty much imagine anything into, cuz we don't actually know all the details about how they got to where they are today after the band broke up. Idk, it's like a sandbox you can play in. And that is so much fun. Also, yeah. The music in the third movie also SLAPS! I listened to the soundtrack on loop for a week after watching it jfkhfh.

The humor is also great in all of the movies, in my opinion. I think my humor operates on Trolls standards at this point, which everyone can decide for themselves if it is good or not hkfjfj. I'm having fun so that's all that matters to me.

But yeah, it's just. Idk. It's difficult to pinpoint something very specific that lured me in. Although, I did mention quite some stuff altogether jfkjjf. It's all about the experience for me. The movies are just filled with so much energy, which I love, and they are, in my opinion, the perfect combination of that energy and emotional impact. Are they perfect movies? Absolutely not. But I'm enjoying myself immensely while watching them, and that's l that matters. Soooo yeah. That's about it for now, I've already been talking too long hkfhfjf

This was supposed to be Earthspark Thunderhowl headcanons, but whatever.

I decided to post an essay I wrote about Thunderhowl(yes, I wrote a whole essay about him) that I S L I G H T L Y Modified

Warning that you will see a lot of crushing/gushing about him.

I wrote this for a video I was gonna post.

So I'm gonna start with a basic introduction to the character for people who have watched Cyberverse, but for some reason don't know who he is.Thunderhowl was introduced in the S3 Episode Of the Same Name (Season 3 ep 19 to be exact), he has a very..erm..basic.. backstory.

He was sent to Crystal City by a "Liege Prime," which was revealed to be Onyx Prime later. But he stared too long at his own reflection,and It came to life pretty much, and Imprisoned him. It is unknown how long he was Imprisoned, but regarding a comment about Iaconus, we can assume it was during the Age Of Expansion when he got Imprisoned. He was freed by Bumblebee and Chromia, when they were looking for one of Windblade's physic shards, which was lodged inside an entity, person, whatever The Crystalline King is..And He was the first of many to help Bumblebee get Windblade's Physic Shards Back. After Returning to Iacon with them, he pretty much Pledged his Loyalty to Optimus Prime.

he wasn't in any episodes until the end of the season.He was then present at the Silent Strike and The Arrival Of Megatron X. He was present at the Signing of The Peace Treaty as well. He didn't become a major point until the final S4 Special. This is when it was revealed that his former liege was Onyx Prime.

in summary, his former liege had a powerful artifact called The Cortex Helm, which, at first Thunderhowl refused to help Bumblebee, Optimus, Soundwave, Shadowstriker and Tarn Acquire, but after Optimus ensured it would be use wisely, he agreed.and then the next scene Thunderhowl is Pretty Much messing with them for a solid 2 minutes.

after he reveals the Isle of Onyx Prime, where the cortex helm is, he mentions the fact that Onyx prime "created many such hidden Places around Cybertron'' to quote him directly.and then, after.. the whole thing with Tarn. Watch the show. I'm not getting into that. He pretty much went back to being a background character.he had a few scenes, but they were very minor.

Thunderhowl's design has all the aspects of A Knight. He has a Cape, which is Grey on the outside and Red on the inside, a kinda raven blue color scheme with teal accents, which Actually makes drawing fanart of him a lot harder, because his main color is not a specific color. He also has a lot, lot, Lot of armor plating. His Alt mode is a wolf, which I bet was obvious because of his name and his Liege Prime.

Like Cheetor and Hammerbyte, Thunderhowl has a title that he says is "Knight Of The Primes."

Fun facts:

There is an animation error in S4 in which he doesn't have his cape on. There is actually more than one instance of this.

He only has two toy figures.. They don't even look like him. His deluxe class is Teal and Yellow, and then His Ultra Class Design is pretty much Army Green.but if you want the full Maccadam, build a figure.. you kinda need His Deluxe Class. From what I've seen, most people get him last of the deluxe class, as he has Maccadams Head(I'm serious. The piece that comes with him is his head)

He is played By The Same actor who played Wild Wheel and Meteorfire. Those are the main other ones anyway.

He has the most screen time of all the one-off characters introduced in Cyberverse. I always like to joke that he was probably someone's favorite on the Cyberverse Crew because of how much he shows up compared to others like Wild Wheel or Meteorfire.

Thunderhowl Dramatically Flips His Cape Before He Is About to Start Talking. I got this from a fanfic.

The Autobots can usually tell how long he is going to be talking with His Typical Chivalrous Manner,just by How Enthusiastic he Looks.i got this from the same fanfic as the last one.

He Hardly Ever Calls Optimus "Optimus Prime." Normally It is just Liege Prime and Only Liege Prime.

He is British. A certain relative of Mine came up with that And It Stuck.

Thunderhowl Has Intense Spectrophobia, or Fear of Mirrors/his own reflection. Spectrophobia is a specific phobia and fits more under fear of His own reflection. Result of BEING IMPRISONED BY IT.

Due to His Relatively Small Screen Time (to Me,13 minutes and 24 seconds isn't small but anyway), Thunderhowl is really not recognized by the Fandom. Or even most Cyberverse Fans Themselves. Small Disclaimer: I said most fans, i'm not saying every Cyberverse fan doesn't know who he is. 90 percent of the #Thunderhowl Tag is Him (that Tag is FRAGGING crazy by the way geez- but kind of in a good way I guess-) it's actually kinda my goal as a TF Content Creator who works mostly only with the Cyberverse Continuity, to Bring More Attention To Him. He is really underrated, and I wish he had developed more.

I am gonna be truthful here. I hated how Cyberverse did Him in the Finale. WHAT I MEAN IS, he was really just a plot device who became a background character during s4ep2 when they could have been developing him a little more. We got a little more depth to his Personality (he slightly Laughed, HE SLIGHTLY FRAGGING LAUGHED AND IT WAS SO CUTE-ahem anyway-) one scene in particular is a scene, actually Two Scenes With Soundwave, which live rent free in My head. he was just pissed with Soundwave. He was Fragging done. And then we get into Tarn's Betrayal(which was done okay, i was not that big a fan of tarn in general) and then that's when he really became more of A Background Character Again. BUT ONE LINE IN PARTICULAR HAS HAD A HOLD ON ME. After Tarn takes the helm and laughs, Thunderhowl Responds with a "How.Dare.You." THE LINE DELIVERY OF IT. HE SOUNDED MOSTLY PISSED BUT THERE WAS A KIND OF HURT UNDERTONE TO IT. THAT ARTIFACT BELONGED TO HIS FORMER PRIME. HE HAS EVERY SINGLE LITTLE RIGHT TO BE HURT AND ANGRY ABOUT IT.

And after being held with his arms on his back and being put on his Knees For real, though,can this man get on his knees for me- he's so- you know what I'm gonna stop. I'm a fragging Simp and I'm not ashamed of it.And there is one little tiny background scene which you have to watch and pay attention to see, is when tarn is walking to Soundwave and Shadowstriker, HE FRAGGING FOLLOWS TARNS STEPS WITH HIS HEAD AND HAS THIS LOOK OF "I AM GOING TO BREAK YOU INTO A THOUSAND LITTLE PIECES." He is Fragging Pissed Throughout This Ep, except for a few Scenes.

THUNDERHOWL AND OPTIMUS/ONYX. So, as mentioned before, we didn't even know Onyx Was The Former "Liege Prime " Of Thunderhowl, though, it was a common theory of Commenters on reviews of His Debut Ep With some others, like Mac and Trion. I feel like this should have Been Revealed Sooner, because if you look at Thunderhowl Fanfics From Before S4 Ep 2 Released, (Ex:Thunderhowl, Story Of The Knight of The Primes On fanfiction.net, read it its really good ) you see that it's not Onyx Prime. The Example Listed, It's Maccadam. This should have been revealed in that line "I swore to my Liege Prime, that I would destroy this evil place,.." So I think it should have been something like this, "I swore to my Liege Prime,ONYX PRIME,that I would destroy this evil place."

And then there's Thunderhowl and Optimus. As I stated before, Thunderhowl Pretty Much Pledged his Loyalty to Optimus at the end of his Debut Episode. But after that we don't see anything between them. All we got was a little hint That Thunderhowl Trusted Him, but why wouldn't he? This scene here shows that he trusts him in a hinted way. But in this same scene, Thunderhowl looks like he's contemplating for a minute. Like he doesn't want to do this,but he doesn't want to go against his Liege Prime Either. This defined their relationship a bit, but it was not enough for me.

THINGS I JUST DIDN'T CARE FOR

Generally, I Liked The Knight Personality, and how confused he was 90% percent of his debut Episode.Like-man woke up after being Imprisoned for Probably Millions of Years. Man was confused as All Hell as to What the Frag was going on. But there were some things and lines I just didn't like.

A good example is the scene when he says, "i have engaged in battle against multitudes of vile creatures,we can, and we will prevail."Don't like this quote at all. IN FACT, It's the only quote I don't like. It makes him sound like he is saying he is better and more experienced than them, and that's why they will succeed. THIS MAN HAS AN EGO, YES, I LOVE THAT ABOUT HIM, BUT SCENES LIKE THIS IT DOESN'T WORK OR FIT. Another thing I didn't like is the main part of His Backstory, how he quoted "stared too long at his own reflection."Like..yes, it's important to his backstory, but I highly want to doubt he actually stared at his reflection that long. I like to think it's like what happened with Bee and Chromia.

Here are the good parts about him.

HES ODDLY COMFORTING TO WATCH. Thunderhowl is Everything To me. Including my comfort character. Anytime I think about him, I smile. When I'm upset, what character do I turn to? Thunderhowl. When I'm just having a shit day and I need a mental break? What should I do? Rewatch Scenes of Thunderhowl. This bot came into my heart in 2021 when the s4 special came out and has not left since. He takes up 75% percent of my love. He is precious to me, and I wish he was more recognized in the Fandom. Hopefully, this will bring more attention to him.

PERSONALITY.One thing that really makes my love for Thunderhowl Skyrocket is his personality and how it developed in the background from season3 ep 19 to s4 episode 2. In his debut episode (S3 Episode 19), his personality was.. well.. what you would expect from a Knight Errant. Very dedicated to his "quest," to say the least. But also probably one of the rare Autobots who are undyingly loyal to Optimus and The Autobot Cause.

To quote a Fanfic “The code of an Autobot carries forth the code of the Primes. Indeed, carrying such code is to carry nobility and passion forth. I am a mere servant of valourous ideals.”this is from a fanfic called Once and Future By Only_Elsewhere on Ao3, Def. Recommend it if you want a more Mostly-Light-Hearted SoundRod Fanfic It also has Thunderhowl as one of the main bots, so that's a bonus.

But then we get to "Silent Strike/The Other One," and it's a little more developed, the what-3 times? He talks, his voice is still very, very British- cough- but it's more.. I can't really describe it, but it's more.

Then there's S4. In his first scene, he called the Perfect Decepticons "extremely Annoying" . This is the episode, to me, that developed his personality fully. He is very annoyed and his normal self Most of the episode except for when they are going to the Isle of Onyx Prime, where you can just straight up see How Happy he is, he's just too cute when he's Happy. He was so glad to go to the Isle of Onyx Prime.

CONCLUSION.

So I hope this encourages you to check out Him As A Character, someone did make a compilation of all his scenes, so if you want to rewatch those scenes if you have watched Cyberverse and just didn't realize he existed for some reason. But I also hope, for the people who haven't watched the show, but don't mind spoilers, this will encourage you to watch the show. It's really a Great Show after Season 1, Season 1 is sorta bland, but you will get through it. I'd say Season 2 is when it gets good. And S3 is funny and iconic, YES, but it's also a Fragging dark. Cyberverse is well renowned for its high death count and sorta dark story. I truly honestly recommend you watch Cyberverse if you haven't,I don't think you will regret it.

Not gonna lie but l actually love Modern SpongeBob (Seasons 9-13) than Old SpongeBob. Don't get me wrong, l love both Old and Modern SpongeBob. But seasons 9 - 13 are much more interesting and have a much better animation/art style. The art style is much more cartoony and colorful.

Tbh I get that. I really enjoy the modern seasons of sb. They're equally tied with the classic seasons in my heart. I know that's like a sin amongst sb fans but its true! Its so fun and colorful and you can see that there is a lot of love put into it. It might not always be so strong writing wise but I still adore it. I feel like nowadays cartoony cartoons have gone out of style hence why there's so much vitriol when a show is silly and light hearted.

Go anywhere online and say you like the current show, people would act like there's something wrong with you in the head. They can't conceive that you can just like something for fun. They act like you're an idiot for enjoying something so silly and light hearted. There always has to be some cynicism, angst or some serialized drama to it. Which I do very much enjoy very much but I also like this and I feel like they both have much to offer. I also feel like cartoons in general are SUPER underrated. Unless it proves itself to be "deep" then it nobody cares for it. They think silly expressions or wacky movements means its for only children (and ignoring the fact that drawing those things are actually VERY difficult, I prefer doing realism but I struggle HARD to get down the wacky expressions spongebob does on a regular basis! It takes skill!)

I also like a lot of what the newer seasons have to offer. People always go on "modern spongebob tortures squidward too much" "modern Spongebob made patrick into a jerk" and they refer to an episode that came out 10-15 years ago lol. Its really discrediting a lot of what the show has to offer. They made Patrick much more nicer in recent episodes and he willingly stands up for Spongebob when he gets pushed around. Squidward torture rarely happens. The show constantly experiments and has amazing art all around. I feel like a lot of that gets ignored. Gosh I really wish it got acknowledged more! Season 13 has been pretty experimental I've been really enjoying it.

You know what's funny? The modern seasons get so much hate because its not ""hillenburg"" and it doesn't have the old writers even tho Hillenburg technically never left. He was Executive producer and gave his ok on scripts and episodes. He wasn't as actively involved as he was in the first 3 seasons but he wasn't fully gone. AND he returned around season 9. He vowed to work as long as his health allowed him and so season 13 is the only season he hasn't worked on BUT he trusted the show to the current crew which is mostly made up of the same folks who made the first 3 seasons. Literally you can pull up a modern episode and there's always someone who worked on the first 3 seasons. Obviously they aren't going to produce the same things they made almost 25 years ago but you can tell they're doing their best. Its rare to get the same thing that clicked 20ish years ago but they should be free to experiment and do something new too. Spongebob has always changed and adapted for the times. Most people don't even notice that each season is different from each other. Season 1 is wildly different from season 3 for example.

Anyways classic and modern have a special place in my heart for the same reason. They're both massively comforting to me and I can put on either and they'd make a bad day feel so much better <3

Also Classic Spongebob and Modern Spongebob would be besties. Don't believe the art work of classic sponge hating his modern counterpart. They'd get along SO well.
