#she hath such a celerity in dying #text post #shakespeare #first folio #what genuinely fascinates me is that unlike almost every other collectible item. first folios are of MORE interest for how they've altered #there is more to study in them if we can see readers' annotations or the names of owners or mark-ups #or their food stains or their cats' pawprints walking across the page!!! #well there is no such thing as a first folio (an authentic one) of little value. all of them are of value for the historical preservation #and in a sense the stories of what have happened to the individual copies are ALSO preservation #i am a believer that what happens to an object is also a form of art. #the book is a piece of art and it has inherent value. the wear and visible usage of it adds to it #and i would love for one of the first folios in the world to be known as the one diana britneyshakespeare once licked #i would be building on the history of that book #what other bitch you know is gonna lick a 400-year-old book? #i have thought about this TOO much. no one is ever gonna let me near a first folio huh #this is by the way NOT an intrusive thought in the slightest bc I EXPERIENCE NO DISPLEASURE AT THE IDEA #bring me one!!! bring me the one that belonged to milton!!! i have plans for it 👅

If you mean testosterone hrt, say that, not masculinizing hrt, unless you're specifically talking about your own personal experience, not generalizing about the hormone.

Same goes for estrogen and feminizing HRT!!

Testosterone doesn't automatically make you masculine, estrogen doesn't automatically make you feminine. Whether someone takes estrogen or testosterone does not inherently mean that their transition is masculinizing or feminizing.

You can talk about your specific transition in these terms, but you should not be assuming that everybody who takes testosterone wants to be masculine and everybody who takes estrogen wants to be feminine.

Nonbinary and genderqueer people exist, including those of us who are not masculine or feminine. Even if I started taking testosterone that wouldn't make me masculine and it would not be a masculinizing transition.

Hmm… I’ve had daily posts to make on this blog for so long, I’d like to keep doing something, but I’m not sure what. I don’t really know what I’d do with a losers bracket. Kind of just want to post about yuri.

#i love dracula daily i really do #i think its a wonderful reimagining of the epistolary form #and its great that so many people have signed up to read an old classic #but at the same time its also a bit of a... missed opportunity i guess? #considering some of the themes in the text #like we all know tumblr isnt very good with nuance #and this whole idea of presenting an important work in ''small digestible chunks'' would really benefit from annotations and commentary #of some kind #also a lot of people seem to be unaware of the fact #that stoker's original narrative wasn't strictly linear #its not super disjointed but especially the first few chapters are not told in chronological order #so even though the text of individual letters and diary entries remains unchanged.. it's still a significant alteration #like.. this is very much a new edition #unauthorized by stoker obviously fkkdkg #im curious to see how the chronological order changes the experience tbh #anyway i saw a post earlier expressing hope that this project will encourage critical discussions #but that's exactly the problem #its not a critical reading of dracula #no context no theory no framework #its more of a book club. and that's great when you're reading for fun but this is a 125 year old text #that offers plenty to get upset about #the question is not if but when the first no nuance november tumblrinas are gonna realize that its problematic(TM) #*cough* renfield *cough* #theres one actual dracula scholar on here who's answering asks and posting tirelessly to offer some critical guidance and that's wonderful #but im still dreading the hot takes that are to come #anyway i dont wanna be a party pooper its still an awesome project #but yeah. like i said it seems like a missed opportunity #and judging by the number of posts that are calling this a tumblr university class im guessing that theres quite a bit of interest #in critical analysis #&
