On November 27th 2019 I visited the former concentration camp Bergen-Belsen in northern Germany. Unlike sites as Auschwitz, in Bergen-Belsen no original buildings could be preserved. Due to a severe typhoid outbreak in 1945, the British Army was forced to burn down the entire site. Since then, the camp site was turned into a memorial, which is in a different way just as impressive as Auschwitz. Specifically the huge mounds, under which between 800 and 5,000 victims of the Holocaust rest, are truly humbling.
It is in Bergen-Belsen where Anne Frank and her older sister Margot perished. They are remembered with a memorial stone, along with another 50,000 other casualties of a ruthless and brutal regime - many of which remain forever nameless. May they rest in peace.

A possível perda do Diário.

I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains. Anne Frank

The miserable have no other medicine, but only hope. William Shakespeare
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein

Book Review: Diary of a Young Girl
Wow, Anne was so eloquent for a fifteen year old, I can't even imagine writing that well and being so aware of my own feelings at fifteen years old. There were times that I forgot that it was actual events that were happening and not just a novel. Parts were funny, and parts were heartbreaking. Anne's diary has done what she strived to do, to teach people new ideas and make them think in a new way. She would have been such a great author, and it's crushing to think of how close she was to living out her life. 10/10
