First, Catra's little self-indulgent pity party for herself at Scorpia

But yeah Catra's acting all nihilist as fuck in this episode just all "I don't give a shit about anything" in that way that makes it painfully obvious she in fact gives many shits about many things and is trying to convince herself as much as anyone else

Anyway at the end of the bar Huntara's previous friend are like UGH THAT SHE-RA BITCH and Catra literally says, "Are you kidding me?"

"not that like, I care, or anything, but where'd they go"

Scorpia: uhhhh why are we asking about them when that's not what we're here for???

Adora, Huntara, Bow, and Glimmer are poking around Mara's abandoned old ship, which has had most of its guts stolen for parts, but you can still hear Mara's voice saying "She-Ra. Etheria. Gone." It's spooky

(I assume this is a character name they were stuck with from the original series, and I've noticed they mostly avoid lampshading the goofy names but sometimes you just have to)

Anyway Catra gives a toast to Scorpia which is very nice of her but to be fair she is an excellent mood. We get to hear Catra's genuine happy laugh for the first time in like a whole fucking SEASON

Asking for Input

Okay, so I have a little creative dilemma. I read through “Mother’s Little Helper” (7x07) and found that it’s completely incompatible with the direction Those ‘70s Comics has taken the characters. The episode is almost all filler, wrought with sexism, and portrays Red and Kitty in total opposition to how they’re depicted in S1-S4 and Those ‘70s Comics.

So do I skip the episode and move onto “Angie’ (7x08) because nothing story- or character-wise would be lost. (This is the easier option for me and probably better for the comics’ overall storytelling.)

Or do I attempt to take some elements from “Mother’s Little Helper” and write a totally new episode from essentially scratch (that, of course, continues the comics’ character-and-story development)?

I’ll ultimately make my own decision, but I’m basically asking, would you care if I skip “Mother’s Little Helper” in the comics? Or do you want me try to incorporate it into the series?

rewrites i would do for litg season 4:

mc enters with oliver, giving us more time to bond with him. because of this, he is positioned as the “bobby” of season aka the islander the game is pushing you to be with

i understand james is the one the game is making you pair up with, but maybe it would be better if it went the jake route where you guys are friends first but ended up actually liking each other and james confesses to you in the latter half of the season (but not at the same time as angie)

when it comes to confessions, i would make youcef confess twice. the first time would feel a bit too fast, sort of suggesting that he is a playboy. but mc gets to interact with him more, learning about his failed engagement and strained relationship with parents. mc realizes that he hides his vulnerability behind his playboy persona and youcef is actually gentle and thoughtful. he still confesses to mc before the final recoupling, but this time it comes out more sincerely and it still plays out the same way: he would be rooting for the mc still even if she doesn’t choose him.

have one of the islanders steal your li [again] in one of the recouplings making the mc the single one this time

when the mc is single, new islanders arrive and they choose to date your last li. during this time, one of the islanders that fancies you try to comfort you and you build a bond with them thru the season. later in the game, this islander confesses to you (this depends on who was your last li, who else you flirted with, etc.)

for an alternative take on the ca twist, the girls and boys will be separated and the girls will be reunited with the dumped boys and the boys will be reunited with the dumped girls. they have a choice to stay with their current li or bring back one of the dumped islanders back in the game (though the game would need to introduce another guy character to even things out)

make kelly an og character and have najuma enter later to mess with mc and li

have the option to also have a “bff ala seb / tim” with one of the boys (but it’s not going to be enforced like in s3)

have thabi realize lexi is a fake and leads to showing lexi (and everyone) that thabi isn’t someone you want to get angry. this leads up to lexi’s dumping

have kobi be the one who “looks after” the islanders instead of lexi in first few episodes. kobi is genuinely welcoming and caring and loves to make everyone feel at home, which makes it sadder that he has poor luck with women

lean into tom being posh and set up a challenge where he is forced to get wild and actually learns to let loose

an lgbt pair to happen while the game is ongoing and doesn’t include the mc

generally have more interactions with everyone and have deeper conversations with li

have sammie / reese / rohan / iona / lily / yasmin / rafi take part again and i do mean please give us more sammie!!

Okay, what are your queer headcanons for the Violetta characters? <3

Buckle up, because this is going to be long.

Violetta - bi. It's there in the way she looks fondly at pictures of her and León and her and Francesca at the same time, you can't make this up.

León - bi. Entre Dos Mundos is a meh song but we forgive it because it confirmed bi León is canon /j Also, have you seen him looking at Diego?

Francesca - bi, with a preference for men. I specifically imagine her figuring it out later in life than other characters (s3) because she tends to fall more for boys than girls, so she had a tendency to brush off her girl crushes.

Camila - lesbian-oriented aroace. As I've talked about with @ichiro51 here, her book of boys thing screams aspec to me, but I also see her as having a thing for girls.

Ludmila - lesbian. For a while I headcanoned her as bi because I like her relationship with Fede, but I feel more of a platonic vibe, while there's definitely some romantic stuff going on with Naty and Cami other girls.

Naty - lesbian or bisexual, I still haven't made up my mind. She is Ludmi's girlfriend, though.

Maxi - trans and pansexual. Purely off of vibes.

Andrés - bi, even though a part of me says gay.

Diego - bi, with a preference for men. I feel it in my heart that he likes girls, but he's always had more crushes for men.

Federico - my first instinct is to say straight, but there's something in him that makes me hesitate. My funky fellow countryman is a mystery.

Marco - bi. He wants to hold hands with both Fran and Diego.

Lara - queer in a way I can't pinpoint. Some kind of sapphic and/or aspec.

I don't have many opinions on the adults, other than:

Angie - bi. I headcanon that, around the early episodes of s1, she causally mentions a past girlfriend or something, and Vilu, who's always known she likes girls but never felt comfortable talking about it with the adult figures in her life, nor has ever met someone like her, feels safe to come out for the first time. They bond over it and Angie gives her lots of aunt advice.

Jade - bi. What can I say? She feels fruity.

Gregorio - aroace or gay, though I lean more toward the first option.

I think I've covered everyone. Broduey is, of course, the token straight, while Tomás, Gery and Clement are straight (derogatory).

i wish i could ignore everything about that 90s show but the casual watchers keep posting stuff about it everywhere and its just unfair... i never wanted any reboot/revive and now its confirmed that Jackie ended up with Kelso and seeing videos just makes it more real. i mean seeing the spoilers hurt too but it was easier to ignore. i hate that i can never see hyde back on my screen nor jackie with him :/

But! Remember that Jackie ends up with Kelso in this alternative timeline. Not in the prime timeline of That '70s Show. Just like how fanfics explore different possibilities for the characters, that's what That '90s Show is doing on-screen and with many of T7S's actors (though not for very long except for Red and Kitty).

What the characters' lives would actually be like in 1995, based on their S1-S7 characterization -- it's not depicted in That '90s Show (again with Red and Kitty being the possible exception).

Would Eric and Donna have a child that old in 1995? Highly, highly unlikely. Would she be named Leia? Virtually impossible unless Donna was unconscious after the birth (due to complications, but she's fine) and when the nurse asks Eric what name to put on the birth certificate, he takes advantage of the situation and says, "Leia." And even then, he wouldn't actually choose that name, considering how many sexual fantasies he had about the Star Wars character it originally belongs to.

Would Jackie and Kelso be together? And on their second or third marriage? And with a child that old? No, no, and no. Kelso and Jackie's romantic relationship ended in season 5. Full point.

Would Fez own a hair salon? While several versions of Fez exist in T7S (even before season 8), this choice wasn't made on T9S from a characterization standpoint. It was made for the joke of it (and forced continued connection to Kitty).

Fez went to America for an education, to go to college. And he, more than Eric, may well have have gone into teaching. Or to help other immigrant Americans acclimate to their new country. Or go to culinary school to become a candy maker and / or master chocolatier. Anything that actually fits his character's interests and passions during S1-S7 of T7S.

The fictional character of Hyde exists outside of any actor who might play him. He was created with words on paper (and on a computer screen). On T7S, he went from growing up in poverty and with abusive, neglectful parents to living with the Formans. Learning to trust people won't abandon him, that they'll treat him with love and respect. He goes to jail and stays silent about the reason, putting his future and very life at risk, to protect the reputation of (and lower-stakes consequences for) someone whose personality he doesn't like -- but whose personhood he believes deserves protecting.

Unfortunately, Hyde's characterization became inconsistently written in certain episodes from the end of season five through season 7 (season 8's version of Hyde is a totally different character Unrecognizable). But enough consistency in the writing exists to understand that his core is a compassionate, self-sacrificing one. Because of that core, his instinct is to help and protect the vulnerable -- stranger, friend, or frenemy -- even when doing so puts himself in danger (emotional or physical). He also developed defense mechanisms to keep other people from taking advantage of his compassionate nature and hurting him (as his mom did).

The end of season 6 and the start of season 7 brings the soap opera twist of Bud not being Hyde's biological father. One can accept this twist as canon or not (I accept it; I love W.B. and Angie's characters and the potential they had but the writing squandered it). Hyde now has a loving biological family as well as an adoptive one. He's biracial, and he has the option of going into dad's business.

Career-wise, his in-character choices are varied. Relationship-wise, according to years of storylines and character development on T7S (and the original season 7 / series finale), he and Jackie are endgame. This is the prime timeline of T7S. We just don't get to see it on-screen (or hear about it on-screen). It exists in fanfic and our imaginations.

That '70s Show skewed into an alternate timeline in season 8. That '90s Show depicts an alternate timeline, too, one where major events and relationships are erased from the characters' history, causing the characters to make different choices than they otherwise would have.

A measure of people can and do accept T7S's S8 as canon. A measure of people will accept T9S's version of the characters' future as their canon. Nothing wrong with that. Just as there's nothing wrong with people who don't accept either as canon. It's art and entertainment and, thankfully, not world-changing art and entertainment (while it can affect people on a significant emotional level, healing or destructively).

That '90s Show does not depict a future for That '70s Show's characters that I recognize as canon. That is based on my understanding of the characters, my sensibility and my choice. Other people will choose differently for their own reasons. Some will enjoy T9S; some will be meh or indifferent about it, and some will absolutely hate it.

The people who love T9S will talk about it together. The people who are meh or hate T9S will talk about it together. We can all co-exist.

It's all all right, as Hyde sings in one of my fanfics.

ricky and cesar for another first! people are going to go on about the spanish advantage, but I'll point out that multiple other teams have that too. they're just very competent racers - they stay calm, they navigate well, they're fit, they have a variety of skills and knowledge - in a season with lots of racers who are more volatile and less skilled

yvonne and melissa remain an underedited middle-of-the-pack team. they also remain one of the calmer teams so far, which bodes well for them, though their decision to switch headgear this episode did not bode well for my ability to keep track of who is who. good job to yvonne for getting the roadblock on her first attempt. also find it cute that they have a silly little special high-five they do.

angie and danny: danny got to be such a little nerd this episode, my man's solving a rebus puzzle and then happily sprinting around a park remembering where statues were. we might be at their peak episode though. angie's going to have to do more roadblocks, and a non-optional physical task will tank them

kishori and karishma: i was so worried we were going to lose them this episode! really does not look good how panicked both of them were at the roadblock, like ideally at least the person on the sidelines stays calm and reassuring. karishma is still peak entertainment, what with asking a lady to stop sitting on the statue label and oh yeah, asking a random guy if he was the roadblock station??? girl, what? i hope they keep dodging elimination by the skin of their teeth.

Hi beautiful! It's not a full season like S1/2/3 were. It's a mini-season which gives us a different scenario to play. If you play it with this in mind... it's actually not bad, so far at least.

Side Characters:

💎Alfie's a sweetheart, and I think it's actually nice that he's a little unsure. @amalasofmonterisso did a great post about this, but the more 'unsure' he is, the more I like him. It makes him seem like a real person, with real doubts about his feelings. I'm looking forward to seeing where things go with him.

💎Kat is a walking tantrum, and I love her for it. She's got some of the best one-liners, and is quite upfront about what she wants, so I'm interested to see if they boot her early or not.

💎Dana is a LI, and is pretty clearly on MC's side early on, and I like how she seems like she's a little more chill. I hope they give her a bit more depth though, especially if you're not on her route. I don't want her to fade in to the background like Najuma if you're not romancing her. She's also quite honest and seems like she'll be a good friend if you're not pursuing her. Angie vibes.

💎Suresh is.... eh. I'm not vibing with his writing yet, mostly because he doesn't seem to be very good at arguing for someone who's supposedly a corporate lawyer. Although, I'm not a lawyer, and that could just be my perception of him haha. I'll be going into this a bit more if/when I write a fic for him. However, I love his story arc and I'm looking forward to it.

💩Eddie is... also present? Even in the spoilers up to Episode 13, I haven't seen much in way of a personality for him yet. We'll see.

MC Design:

💎The outfits are cute compared to the ones we got at the start of S4, especially the sleepwear.

💎There are a lot more character design options, including more hairstyles and a bigger body type.

💩This might just be me, but I cannot for the life of me make my MC look the way I want her to. I miss the characters from S2/S3, where it was almost impossible for her to not look cute as fuuuuuck.

💩There are a distinct lack of features for non-white players. I've heard a lot of concerns about the eyes, noses, and hair, and I hope they rectify them. Hopefully we get more customisation options in future updates.

💩 We have almost zero choice over our backstory. We don't even get to decide our own secret! We don't get to decide our own ex, either, so WLW players... yeah, no.

Gameplay:

💎Drama central. I'm currently icing Suresh out - playing it cool and turning him down at every opportunity, but there are options for both a 'fuck you' playthrough and a ' please fuck me' playthrough, which will be cool.

💎With all the characters, they started off very sunshiney and shallow, and then started showing negative traits. I love this. I love my characters to have a little complexity. I hope they continue this and make the characters really deep!

💩It's really hard to earn gems.

💩There's a long, interactive ad after every episode and it's really annoying.

💩They recently moved from three episodes each week to having mostly two

💩 They're ending episodes MID-CONVERSATION to simulate drama. Which I hate.

Overall

As a standalone game? 5/10? 6/10 if I'm being really generous?

Compared to earlier seasons? I don't know... a 3/10? It's really not the same game.

If it wasn't for the fandom/community, I would've given up already. I'm personally not that engaged by any of the LI's so far, but I'm sure that will change. God, look what happened to me when they introduced Bruno omg.

But I love the community and I'm looking forward to reading the fics that come out about the season. So I'd encourage you to play it anyway, even if it's just so you can do fix-its with us :)

things i think of, when i see the name metal sonic

1. pseudo sonic

pseudo sonic is my favorite robotic sonic design, mostly thanks to the silly evil smile, and the things lawrence've done with him goes right up with the lightning bolt society. though, if LBS somehow obtains pseudo sonic, they will never figure out; it'll be more reeking of failure than dave's attempt on driving the octopusbot.

2. medabot-sized

there are three size classes of minibots (by my arbitrary classification): transformers with beast alt modes and pretenders, medabots, and gold lightan. in that regards, metal sonic blends perfectly among medabots. judging from how fluent was transferral of smart chip from the smart mombot episode, metal sonic might be architectured to endure quick body switches too. metal definitely isn't as used to switching bodies as much as medabots are, but he'll make it.

in fact, i think he'd quite like blossomail chassis. for the angy eye sockets in particular.

3. the final scene before credits roll

he probably would had become someone much more potent if there was a sequel, but it turned out that it was death stare at some sega exec who decided that the game will be for wii u. he could have had basically his own game rather than sonic's, but the highest point of his appearance was fighting against two pretty strong hedgehogs at the same time and winning... which i guess it definitely is something! not quite as grand in terms of scale, but it's quite a feat. and the show kept it ambiguous on why was metal with the particle accelerator; while everyone else was goofing off, he was trying whatever option he had to get his wish done, whatever it could have been.

maybe he was making his own game. the sequel to rise of lyric. and particle accelerator was needed to make the one-man development task not take extraordinary amount of time. and sonic ruined it. not cool, sonic.

4. precise punch on shadows stomach

i think this is the coolest thing he had ever done during his appearance.

for the game, it keeps metal pretty far away from the camera so that you(the player) are kept not nearsighted and hinder playability, so it's kind of difficult to tell how does he look, except for when he horizontally whirlwind-dashes through a lane.

but for the show, it had wide variety of camera angles and distances, including where he looks pretty cool, and making shadow react as if he just got kicked in the nutsack. the last part is very important.

-leaning into inspiration from Ghia's ice powers, here's 2 snowflake pendants -- one silver with a central moonstone and the other inset with blue topaz all over

-if you want to carry a wintery mint reminder with you, there's this snowflake diffuser locket! You can drop mint oil (peppermint, spearmint, or wintergreen) onto the little felt pad!

-these acrylic ice cube earrings are another cute and funny nod to Ghia's ice (there's a short pair and long pair in this set)

-since we all know Ghiaccio could use some stress relief, here's a glittery snowball themed stress ball

-for a snowy themed nail polish, I found this opalescent essie one in the shade "crystal clear intentions"

-for another minty fresh Ghia inspiration, I recommend Lush's dirty springwash shower gel!!! It smells sooooo good and is the prettiest blue green color

-Rounding out the list with two bath and body works recs, here's a vanillamint mentha lip shine and a "frozen lake" 3 wick candle (the scent description online says lavender leaves, cool eucalyptus and juniper berries!)

-As always, I recommend writing your f/o a letter (either in a journal or on @ jojolovenotes), sketching your favorite screenshots, rewatching the episodes your f/o shows up in, and making a playlist inspired by your f/o (including their music namesakes).

this has been sitting in my drafts for a while, but it definitely still stands: one of the things missing this season of the game was jealousy. like any season of the actual show has this as a staple.

(I did a will route, so mostly this comes from that angle, but can apply to every LI I think)

- if part of thabi’s arc in ‘getting a backbone’ meant she stood up to mc for kissing will in the kissing challenge/at least acknowledged mc did that lol/or even later, if you pull the porridge out of the sink with will thabi notices you two flirting and says something. this girl just blinked every time I flirted with her guy and said nothing! I know she ends things with them, and then will comes on to mc, but some sort of tension would have been realistic!! and with other LI, if someone else is coupled up with them before you, an option to make them shitty with you or just something would be great…

- i said it before I’ll say it again: if you pick someone different, like when you can dump najuma/james/bruno and pick will or tom or one of the others, someone kicked off. najuma was saying how into me she was for so long then she’s coupling up with youcef like we don’t even know each other lol. and the last recoupling, if u pick youcef or angie or oliver — so late in the game — everyone just smiles and acts like you’ve been in love the whole time! perfect opportunity for some slow burn ‘oh, that actually makes so much sense’ or ‘you must have really fallen for him’ or anything from the islanders would’ve made it feel less copy and paste. VARIETY!

- if mc wants to be with someone that isn’t a option at the start, let me pine. let me talk about how I want to couple with youcef or will or angie. idk, it feels like there’s a few options here and there but barely any, and again, no one reacts. it’s just like, lol ok cool let’s get back to whatever plot point we’ve got this episode

- I hated how everyone just brushed past will’s flip flopping. I’m putting this down to bad writing bc I think will is meant to be a bit of a player that finally meets his match in mc, but no one acted like that was the case. other than a few negative comments at the very start from najuma and angie, will’s basically just doing whatever until they go ‘shit, thabi’s moving on from me’, then goes to mc. this could’ve been a big moment for will, either playing the game to the end or having a realisation. he talks about ‘growing’ by the end of the season but i don’t really see how anything changed for them, or how their behaviour would have been challenged because literally no one pulls them up on it.

- a challenge like mean tweets, or shaken and stirred (the islanders read out comments someone else in the villa made and the person has to guess who). basically just something to stir the pot and create friction between people. any sort of bitchy comment towards mc that didn’t come from juliet or lexi. like one the girls bitching about you or your partner? something that would bring you closer and also expose the different LIs personalities.

afternoon liveblog! GUESS WHO’S GOT TWO THUMBS AND MORE STUFF FOR THEIR SACRIFICE KOKICHI PINBOARD BABEYYYY

-not tsumugi’s idea of god just being izuru 😭 how did i not catch this easter egg before,,,

-”...cults like these can be reaaally annoying if you get on their bad side.” how do you know that, kokichi?

-i HIGHLY doubt angie was meant to smash that flashback light...in a more interesting version of ch3, tsumugi kills her for this and gets away with it until ch6....i just really wanted them to use the first-come-first-serve culprit rule ok.

-”ummm...what if we get another time limit motive, like the one that got rantaro killed? ...shouldn’t we have a sacrifice prepared, just in case?” “you mean...if someone has to die, we should volunteer someone we resurrected?” COLD, angie, cold. anyway this scene is made WAY funnier if you imagine an extremely offended kaede, rantaro, ryoma, and kirumi watching it on TV.

-kaito is Going Thru It...it’s impossible to tell how much of his suffering is because of his illness worsening and how much of it is his genuine terror at the supernatural, but either way he is straight up not havin a good time rn.

-ok so shuichi and kokichi proceed to have a very long (and completely optional!) side conversation and literally all of it makes me insane so here it is, line-by-line:

-”oh, but angie wants to make rantaro the transfer student, huh? i don’t want him to come back to life.” “why?” “it’s cuz...i love you most, shuichi. i’m always thinking about you...and you’d rather see kaede brought back to life, huh?” “th-that’s...” “you’re so admirable! that’s why i wanna support you! oh wait, that’s a lie!” “...” the og explanation i made for this got a little too personal and a little too sad, so i’ll just say a) again, it’s much easier to make people *think* you’re lying than it is to actually lie, and b) adding ‘but that’s a lie!’ is like saying it’s not gay because you wore socks, OUMA.

-“come to think of it, i once saw this anime that was also about a death game...the mastermind sacrificed a family member as the first victim to get the killing started.” PIN! BOARD! PIN! BOARD! PIN! BOARD!

-“sacrificed a family member? as in...killed them?” “yeah, as a show of force. maybe that’s what happened to rantaro...what if rantaro was working for the mastermind? bringing him back might be a bad idea.” “n-no, that’s idiotic! rantaro couldn’t have been working for the mastermind...” [but...is it really impossible? we only knew rantaro for a short time. he did seem as though he was kind of used to the killing game.] “nee-heehee...looks like you’re starting to understand what i’m getting at, shuichi.” FROTHS AT THE FUCKING MOUTH,,,they both clocked how sus rantaro is but because of the way kaede’s death spent them tailspinning in opposite directions (natural extrovert kokichi becoming isolated and paranoid bc he thinks he’ll end up like her + natural introvert shuichi fighting his own caution to integrate into the group bc he has to fulfill her wish) they can’t have a real conversation about it. I Am So Normal About This.

-FTE time - this time kokichi’s second one! (this is just his episode, apparently). the fact that we know his love of yu-gi-oh is genuine because he really obviously based his outfit off of seto kaiba is fantastic, but my favorite bit is that he “plays” by drawing random cards and seeing who’s number is bigger - the hallmark of kids who collected the pretty cards but had no idea what the actual rules were (like me and all seven of my siblings hpshjdhbsgdh).

-one of maki’s next! shuichi telling her her backstory sounds fake is funny for like, eight different reasons. the holy salvation society’s strategy of being so suspicious for cult reasons no one realizes they’re suspicious for assassin reasons is also great. (shuichi is...bizarrely slow on the uptake here, though. maki saying ‘god really doesn’t exist in this world’ and shuichi responding with ‘so, you’re a devotee in the cult?’ made me ?????. it’s so out of character i can’t even be mad at maki calling him a fucking dumbass. she’s right!)

-kaitoooo :[ don’t call yourself pathetic for being sick, please,,,,

-”i think...himiko has gotten so lazy, she’s given up on thinking for herself...that’s why she’s depending on angie.” bold move to describe joining a cult because you’re suicidally depressed as “lazy”, but i suppose i can’t fault tenko for something that’s more a flaw with DR itself. her heart is in the right place, at least.

-”she thinks she’s [kami-sama]’s vessel, so she doesn’t feel guilty about anything she does.” “and that’s why you want me to kill her?” “huh!?” “asking someone like me for a “favor” can only mean one thing.” “...i...won’t deny that. i’ve wanted her gone even before all this happened. and i think everyone has wanted someone to die at least once in their life...but going through with it is a different thing! it’s wrong for a person to commit murder! it doesn’t matter what the reason is!” i disagree but i think it’s Neat seeing where all the V3 characters fall on this moral spectrum!!

-not maki and kaito having the exact same ‘just bang on the door 1 billion times’ strategy 😭 that’s rlly funny actually.

-”no, angie. that’s not possible. the bodies were not fakes. i’m positive. especially after seeing the wax effigies. the effigies were nearly perfect, but the real bodies still had traces of a soul. a soul desperate to live, struggling, fighting for life...that’s something that can never be replicated. no matter what technology you have, you can’t fake a soul.” how does he apply this to kiibo, i wonder...?

-”[kami-sama] says that if we do the ritual, everyone who has died up till now will come back. so...if those four really are dead, then the resurrection ritual will surely work.” she’s switched from bringing back rantaro to bringing back everyone...!? that’s not what monokuma promised.

-”if you’re gonna slow me down, i’ll turn you into a wax effigy! nyahahaha!” JESUS H CHRIST

-tenhimi breakup scene :((( the babygirls r so toxic,,,

-”you should let shuichi tell you how to apologize. he’s really good at it.” i...can’t tell if this is meant to be an insult or not......

Ok, I’ve seen Sonic Prime. I love the show. I enjoy the plot overal (Netflix, when the rest of the serie?)

Buuuut...

Under the cut, because spoilers.

Shadow’s reasons in Prime are... I wouldn’t say bad. Just... not really justifiable? Lemme explain.

I’ve seen a few people saying that he has a reason to be angry at Sonic for what’s happening, but I don’t think so. Not really anyway.

Ok, Sonic has been depicted to not listen to his friends before the shattering (which doesn’t really sit right with me, but I can pass over it because it’s a behavior that’s present only at the beginning and in flashbacks).

Ok, Sonic is impulsive and will act before thinking. Which has led him to shatter the Paradox Prism.

But... what does Shadow have? He saw that vision, and that’s it. Just Sonic running in a confined space. For all he knows, Sonic could be trapped and just trying to escape by putting stress on his confines by running, and he decides that Sonic is at fault. He never considered any other option (like Eggman using Sonic to create the explosion). At this point in time, the Shattering hasn’t happened yet.

All he did was run off in search of Sonic (understandably) and punch his rings out the moment he saw him (without apparent reason for Sonic). A show of as much impulsiveness as Sonic is known for. He didn’t listen to Sonic when he said that Eggman was the bad guy (and was probably up to something)

He never stopped to explain what he saw when Sonic asked what was wrong. He just attacked. No wonder Sonic dissed him when he asked about the mission.

Also, Sonic was late because of him. If he wasn’t late, maybe things would have gone differently. Maybe, if instead of fighting it out, he would have followed and talked, things could have gone differently.

So no. Shadow has no real reason to be angry at Sonic beside him being always angy (like Sonic said), and he is at fault too. Not as much as Sonic, but he has a good hand in it.

And instead of trying to find reason and ask himself what went wrong, he stews in this anger and doesn’t even try at the end of episode 8, when he and Sonic are face to face. Nope. It’s another punch to the face when it’s clear Sonic is stressed out. Which result in said blue hedgehog to disappear. Again.

I really want to see if they address this in any way, if they will have an arc of him realizing that he is far more similar to Sonic in personality than he believes. That Sonic, while he messed up big time, is not the only one with blames to address.

Also, I just realized now that the explosion in which Shadow had his vision, and the one that knocks out the power to New Yolk City are the same. Just... the energy crossed time and space, apparently... wow.

Aaaaand we’re back to disappointment and frustration 😒 (mixed in with some satisfaction because I’ll admit it felt good to throw some things in Dylan’s face and more on that scene with Angie later)

Spoilers and rambling under the cut 😘

The fight with our LI didn’t need to be a fight at all and honestly didn’t even feel like one depending on the choices we make. It just goes from “Dylan’s been spreading rumors about you” to “I think we should spend the night apart” going from 0 to 100 in two seconds, like what?? If you pick the options to de-escalate the conflict this outcome doesn’t make any sense and it’s frustrating af.

Especially if we’re coupled up with Will because he’s all about being chill and non-confrontational. It feels very out of character for him in particular because to me the logic is that if he’s someone who avoids fights then he wouldn’t go to that place so easily and he would’ve been smarter about this or at the very least understanding. I just can’t believe Will of all the LIs would let Dylan get into his head because honestly he’s the smartest guy in the Villa when it comes to playing the game. The comments he made early on (if we pick him at the first recoupling) show that he’s very aware of the dynamics and aim of the game, more so than any of the others who seem more concerned about finding someone they like to couple up. Dylan could’ve been smarter about the game and then I might’ve given this point to Will being played, but as it was I can’t buy that he would fall for that.

The other LIs I can see falling prey to this more easily. James is a jealous guy (for as much as he tries to hide it and be a nice guy), Bruno is deeply insecure and easily manipulated, Najuma is an impulsive, fiery hothead and Tom is still getting the hang of being himself and therefore would also be shaken if something like this came up. And I know that there is an argument that now Will is actually being real with us and actually falling in love so he’s more vulnerable, blah-blah-blah. But you’re honestly gonna go now and say Will gives a fuck that I kissed Hazeem right after Will himself had broken up with me to be with Thabi?! When he had hyped me up for kissing the newcomers in the hot tub date?! Give me a fucking break!

I had some serious “am I having amnesia moments now?” with this episode and talks of previous fights/arguments with our LI that never happened or the talks about Dylan wanting to rescue us from our jobs. Like those things were never shown to us - or I’ve had serious glitches in my playthroughs. What the fuck is up with that?!

Also no way in hell I would’ve fallen asleep right after all of this had happened without some venting and talking it out with my bestie beforehand; that conversation should’ve happened in the previous night. And since Angie is currently single there is also no way in hell she would’ve let me sleep outside by myself - even if she were coupled up with someone she would’ve ditched them for the night to stay with us. Thabi definitely would’ve done that. If Hope/Lottie/Marisol/Hannah did that on day 2 of Season 2, why isn’t my bestie staying with me through this horrible night now??

And it’s all coming up for the sake of plot and how we could get it on with Dylan if we wanted to. But I feel like they should’ve given this option only if we answered positively to his advances/tactics and chose the options that say we want to be with him. Like give us an option to tell our bestie we’ll be fine sleeping alone outside if what we want is an opportunity for alone time with Dylan later on. It would’ve made so much more sense. But I think I’ll write a separate one on all things Dylan that sucked about this storyline because there is a lot.

Minor thing that annoyed me: why were we not given the option to go take a shower and change into fresh clothes after such a night? Instead we’re walking around all over the Villa in last night’s clothes/caked in makeup for the whole day? Why??
