#And what me N my writing partners did and the story we wove

You know what's such a fascinating notion? The whole idea of being like. Done with a character. Not out of boredom or disinterest but like 'I told my story I exhausted every ounce of creativity and I'm done and I'm content' and you still love that character and could talk for hours about them but you're also like. Free to put it aside, if that makes sense.

day 15
“we all fucked (up)”
How ever long it might have seemed to have taken me to write my response to day 14 cannot even compare to how long it has taken me to actually work through my feelings for day 15. Because despite the heart to heart Y/N had with Jimin and Tae, the heart to heart filled with apologies and funny quips that the whole group had at the table (brownie points galore for utilizing the dining table as the setting for the scene bc it re-establishes the group’s dynamic in a communal space which the dining table symbolizes!!!) which follows with a full on closet sex scene before rounding it all off with an actual orgy, I just want to talk about the date. Here’s the issue I run into though… I loved all of those scenes I mentioned and I want to give you credit for how well you wove each of them so seamlessly into the story. They were necessary not only for the progression of the story but they were integral to the progression of character exploration. Because, let’s be real, the sex is but another tool used to break down characters in this verse.
For example, I loved the exchange shared between Hoseok and Jimin. One of the things that you did so well early on in the story was that you established that despite Jimin and Hoseok being doms who are both well versed in the industry in their own way, their opposing personalities reveal more about their own values and their preconceived notions of the world around them rather than the other way around. Yet characters who embody different perspectives aren’t enough; to truly explore their character themes, the story must find ways of testing the characters’ beliefs. Jimin’s strip scene, the incident of day 14, and the resolution at the dining table placed them in situations uniquely designed to attack their beliefs. This challenge gave both characters a chance to put their feelings and personalities on display. Similarly to Jimin being a mirror for Jungkook in Day 14, Hoseok and Jimin are constant foils for each other over the course of the story. They might never truly get along but there is an underlying implication that at the very least, they don’t hate each other. This sentiment was best encapsulated in their limited but very telling dialogue exchange throughout the chapter.
And communication is so important in this chapter. It plays a huge role during the date that Yoongi and Y/N go on. In fact, communication is the reason I have dubbed their date as ingenious. From the dialogue exchange in the car ride to the restaurant to Yoongi revealing that he was able to secure a table at his brother’s high end restaurant, there is a sense of Yoongi wanting to impress Y/N. The joke that he tells her and the tone of the dialogue he shares with her all reflects a more “polished” Min Yoongi as opposed to the guy who licked cum off Y/N’s face earlier that day. This polished tone continues in Yoongi’s desire to treat Y/N out to a luxurious night on the town over good food which just happens to be financially beneficial to him. This small fact though is telling in its own way: as a doctor, the audience understands that this is not a reflection of Yoongi’s lack of funds to pay for the meal but rather that he is not a frivolous person despite enjoying the finer things in life. Thus, treating her to such extravagance shows how much he values her opinion of the night and by extension him as a potential partner. Unfortunately, Yoongi’s well laid plans crumble under circumstance thus the two are left with a dilemma. When Y/N offers a solution, Yoongi’s willingness to go along with her suggestion shows that he not only respects and values her opinion but that they are on equal footing in their pseudo-relationship. The maturity shown in his actions continue to be one of my favorite aspects of the story and is why week after week, I find myself more and more taken with him. As the scene moves to the local “golden arches” establishment, we see that facade that Yoongi wore earlier in the night slowly melts away, leaving behind a side of Yoongi akin to the man who took care of Y/N after the intense scene they had together earlier that week – open, warm, attentive. This dichotomy reveals to the audience that the unimposing Yoongi is only ever coaxed out by Y/N when he feels like he needs to comfort her. The conversation that follows would be the second time that Y/N has confided in Yoongi that week – something she has not done so explicitly with anyone else on the show. One could argue that this could be because Yoongi is the most detached person from all of the drama on this show but that is not what their relationship dynamics imply. His ability to rationally speak about his feelings does not mean that he is detached to them; in fact, it might imply deeper feelings of connection because he knows how much he has to lose. Yoongi’s relationship with Y/N is beyond something as fickle as lust or as complicated as romance. It feels like the building blocks of a true friendship based on mutual respect, a desire for the other to share their thoughts and opinions, and deep understanding of their partner. And, at the end of the day, is there anything sexier than being truly understood?
Which brings us full circle. Yoongi and Y/N’s night begins with Yoongi questioning Y/N (and implicitly asking the audience) “[are you] ready?” This set up can have multiple implications as this could refer to the night’s event itself (which are anything but conventional) or refer to the impending elimination round which Y/N has spent the day lamenting about. Either way, I doubt anyone of us could truly be ready for what is about to happen in the coming chapters. The audience is left very much like Y/N when she was asked if she was ready: we are “as we’ll ever be.”
Thank you once again for the spectacular addition to this verse. If you can’t tell, I had an amazing time with this chapter! You delivered for me what I did not expect and I was left speechless for hours, turning the events that unfolded in this chapter over and over again. I hope you know how much I absolutely adore this series and that I cannot wait to see what you have in store for the next chapter! Thank you for all of your hard work; your magic is truly the gift that keeps on giving. 💜 Jan

ahhh jan i’m so happy you liked it !! as always you seem to be more introspective about my characters than sometimes even i am, and it honestly feels like the story and the characters improve as we go thanks to your thoughtful comments and analyses.
you’re totally spot on about jikook and jihope being foils for each other. criticising other people usually just reflects more on the speaker, and jimin disapproving of the way hobi plays the game just exposes how he’s started caring less about the game and more about the people himself. we start to see that it’s less of a factor of actually hating each other, but rather seeing their own flaws in an external context and not liking it.
in terms of the date, woo, you’re so right about yoongi !!!! he likes the finer things in life but isn’t wasteful or prideful about it. he’s not taking her to a nice restaurant to show off the weight of his wallet, but because he wants to treat her. so when the booking falls through, he’s happy to let yn take the lead. even if he grumbles, he’s just a gentle softie on the inside ;;-;
i love writing scenes w yn and yoongi because i feel like theirs is a more intellectual and understanding relationship. their ability to be honest with each other brings them closer on a level that yn doesn’t yet have with the others. you’re right, yoongi isn’t necessarily detached, i think he’s just more capable of being calm and reasonable and seeing the bigger picture, particularly when feelings come into play.
As for what’s in the future for our friends in the villa? We’ll have to see how elimination goes next Tuesday ;)
thank you so much jan and i hope you have a great week xxxxxxxx

An Academic Love Story- Part One
Steve Rogers x Reader x Tony Stark
Summary- Due to renovations to the liberal arts building at Shield University history Professor Steve Rogers office has been placed in the engineering department, where he learns that if he want to listen to recordings of Howard Stark, he better use some fucking headphones!
Message- Here’s my submission for @after-avenging-hours‘s writing challenge. My category was Professor AU!
Word Count- 888
“Did you take my socket wrench?” You ask.
“Hmm?” Tony asks, looking over at you.
“Where is your head at today, my love?” You ask, walking over to Tony’s desk.
“When I went to use the bathroom earlier I-I heard my Dads voice, coming from the room across the hall.” Tony murmurs, staring toward the door.
“Howard dead.” You say, running your fingers through Tony’s hair.
“I know.” Tony sighs.
“We missed lunch, how about I go down to the sandwich cart and grab us some food.” You say.
“Alright.” Tony mumbles as you kiss his cheek. Then you walk out of the lab and start to walk towards the elevator, but that’s when you hear it.
Howard Starks voice.
You had never met him, but you had seen enough videos of your father-in-law to recognize his voice. You decide to follow it and you end up in front of a door to an office that had been left unused over the past year, but if rumors where to be believed, several members of the history department recently moved in while their new offices where under construction. You stand there for a minute while you decide on your course of action, then you hear the volume being turned up and you just rip the door open.
“Can I help you?” A blond man asks.
“Is that Howard Stark?”
“I’m sorry?” He asks.
“Are you listening to Howard Stark?” You ask.
“Oh! Yeah, it’s from a senate hearing. It’s actually really facinat-.”
“Get some head phones?”
“Oh, was it to loud, I’m sorry.” He says, staring to blush.
“You should be.” You say, before turning to leave the room. You head back to your lab, forgetting about the sandwiches.
“Hey, where’s lunch?” Tony asks.
“Shit.” You say. “I’ll go get them now.”
“It’s fine, we’ll just grab something when we head home.”
“Alright.” You say. “You’re not crazy, just so you know.”
“What?” Tony asks.
“You did hear Howards voice, some history professor was listening to a recording of him.”
“Eww, a fanboy.” Tony says, scrunching up his nose in disgust.
“Yeah.” You sigh. “I told him to get some headphones, so we won’t be hearing Howard’s voice again anytime soon.”
“Thank you, darling.” Tony says, you go to say respond, but before you can the fire alarm goes off. “Huh, wasn’t my fault, that’s probably a first.”
“It was probably Bruce.” You say.
“Yeah, probably.” Tony says as he takes his hand in yours, then he leads you towards the door and out into the hall. The two of you make your way out of the building, and over towards a small group of you friends and colleagues.
“I’m so sorry.” Bruce says as he goes to stand next to you.
“I mean, we’re literally out here every other week because of me, sooo I’m probably the one person you don’t have to apologize to.” Tony says.
“So it’s an actual fire?” You ask.
“A small one, but yeah.” Bruce says.
“Who new physics could be so explosive.” You say.
“Rhodey and I were working on a new type of rocket fuel.” Bruce says.
“Where is my favorite former lab partner?” Tony asks, looking around the small cluster of people.
“He’s explaining what happened to the liberal art Professors.” Bruce says, before pointing him out.
“Oh look, he’s talking to our resident fanboy.” You say.
“Woah, he’s hot.” Tony says.
“Your wife is literally standing right next to you.” Bruce says.
“I mean, he’s not wrong.” You say, shrugging your shoulders.
“I can’t believe you yelled at him” Tony says.
“He made you sad.” You say, before kissing your husbands check.
“Unknowingly.”
“Still.” You say. “I’m very protective of you, my love.”
“Gross.” Bruce says, before walking away.
**Steve’s POV**
“Can I ask you a question?” Steve says, looking at Rhodey.
“About the rocket fuel?” Rhodey asks.
“No-uh-I had a kind of confusing interaction with a member of the engineering department and I was wondering if you could shed some light on what I did wrong.”
“I mean, I can try.” Rhodey says. “Do you know their name?”
“No, but she’s right there, holding hands with the guy who has a goatee.”
“Y/N? What happened, she’s usually nice-well unless you piss off Tony.”  Rhodey says. “Did you piss off Tony?”
“I mean I don’t think I did. I-I’ve never even met him!” Steve says.
“Tell me what happened.” Rhodey says, crossing his arms.
“I was listening to some tapes for my research a-and she just burst into my office and asked me what I was listening to! When I told her she said to get some headphones and then she left!”
“What were you listening to?” Rhodey asks.
“A senate hearing.”
“About?” Rhodey asks.
“Howard Stark.” Steve answers.
“Oh.” Rhodey says. “You’re lucky you got off as easy as you did.”
“Does she have something against the Stark family? If she does she should probably find a new job, they’re the schools biggest donors!”
“She has something against Howard, not the Starks.” Rhodey explains.
“Care to explain that a bit more?” Steve asks.
“Not really.” Rhodey says. “You seem like a smart man, I’m sure you’ll figure it out all on your own.” He adds before walking away.
“Well that didn’t help at all.” Steve murmurs to himself.

Brand-Spanking-New PHOTOSET & REVIEW:
MYLES KENNEDY (“Year of the Tiger” Storyteller Solo Tour) at Baltimore Soundstage, May 16th, 2018
I’ve seen Myles Kennedy sing and play guitar live with Alter Bridge three times within the past four years. I’ve even been lucky enough to see him sing along side Slash and The Conspirators between tours with AB! However, I’d yet to see Myles break out on his own, with nothing but his voice and his arsenal of guitars… until last Wednesday.
On a dreary and drizzly afternoon in “Charm City,” I stood in line with my mom and my sister outside Baltimore Soundstage, waiting to enter Myles’ VIP Soundcheck/Meet and Greet. Umbrellas quickly popped open throughout the line as the downpour continued, as no one dared to leave their spot in line and risk missing the strict 3pm deadline for our VIP Check-In!
Since I’ve already discussed at-length what my experience was like at a very similar VIP session last year with Myles’ primary band, Alter Bridge, I won’t bore you with a play-by-play of how this session went down. Instead, I’ll encourage you to check out a video I filmed of the only key difference between the VIP meetings: a Q&A session, where Myles answered any questions the attendees wanted to ask him! The topics ranged from Nuno Bettencourt and Eddie Van Halen, to marching band uniforms and other questionable fashions.
The M&G went off without a hitch, and my trio were the last in line. (If you want to see my latest VIP photo with Myles, awkwardly slow-dance your way to this link right here!) We waved and said “See you later!” to Myles, who did the same as he walked towards the dressing rooms, and made our way back into the rain for the second round of queuing up of the day.
I chatted excitedly with my new partner-in-crime for the night, who was also similarly forced to sit apart from the rest of her friends due to Ticketfly’s confusing ticket-purchasing process for this gig. My new friend and I were gabbing so much that we barely noticed how much time had passed before our VIP re-entry line started moving again!
After receiving our “Golden Circle” wristbands, we bolted straight to the front of the room and secured two seats in the second row. It felt both strange and extremely relaxing to be seated so close to the stage for a show with Myles Kennedy as the headliner, with no barrier rail between the audience and the stage’s edge. (I’m talking “signs that said ‘NO DRINKS ON THE STAGE’ were taped to the edge”-close!)
An afternoon with a double-dose of queue rainfall meant that the only acceptable antidote would be an evening of acoustic performances by the world’s busiest rock star! Mr. Kennedy took the stage exactly at 8pm, one hour after Thomas Wynn and his sister, Olivia, sang a hearty opening set of their band’s blues and rock tunes, acoustic-style.
Myles slowly strummed the Latin-style intro chords of his opening number, “Devil on the Wall.” Before he could even finish singing the first line (“Devil unkind, always creeping in the blind”), the whole crowd was singing right along with him! Kicking the song into its faster rockabilly tempo, a wide smile slyly crept up on Myles’ face as he watched the audience clap along and dance in their seats.
The singer checked in with the crowd after the first song, telling everyone that the 500-person-capacity Soundstage felt “like a nice, big party in [his] living room — although, [his] living room’s not this big!” Myles kept true to his promise of a “Storyteller”-style evening, as he made room between each number to give Baltimore an exclusive peek inside of his mind.
His stories helped to direct the diverse setlist into a (semi-)logical flow, as some tales helped the audience learn about Myles’ early career …while others just turned into an excuse for Myles to do the “Hammer Dance!” (I know I’ve joked in the past that Myles’ stage persona makes him come off like a goofy uncle, but on this night in particular, he became EVERYONE’s goofy uncle!)
The set spanned from his days in the Mayfield Four; hits and rarities from both Alter Bridge and SMK&C; a good helping of songs from his debut solo album, Year of the Tiger; and even peppered in the occasional unexpected cover tune! Even an unplugged-yet-still-metal-AF version of Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper” wove its way into the setlist!
About a third into the set, Myles welcomed his manager/guitarist/“van driver,” Tim Tournier, to the stage, as the two turned the low-ended bluegrass ditty, “Haunted by Design,” into an impressive acoustic duet. Tim and Myles’ close friendship was fun to watch during the performance, as they would often give quick smirks to each other and nod along to the beat of the song’s rapid-fire riffs! The writing process for this song may have been “caffeine-induced,” but the performance left me with a warm, jitter-free feeling.
To showcase his ever-developing and genre-spanning skill-set, Myles occasionally broke out a resonator guitar. Songs such as “Blind Faith” (from Year of the Tiger) and “Traveling Riverside Blues” (a classic by Robert Johnson) lent themselves well to the sliding and twanging of the instrument by the solo artist. However, the standout song transformation of the night went to Myles’ solo rendition of “World on Fire,” the title track off of Slash, Myles, & The Conspirators’ 2014 LP. The new arrangement unexpectedly turned the polished rock ’n’ roll fist-pumping tune into a slower, grittier, and wilder blues-tinged number, which made the “Carpe Diem”-themed lyrics feel even more urgent!
Myles’ set ended with a (predictable, yet absolutely fitting) standing ovation! An encore with an one-two emotional punch of both the ethereal “Love Can Only Heal,” as well as his solo album’s title track, made me forget that I was on my feet… or that I even had feet!
Even after seeing Myles as many times as I’ve been lucky enough to see him live in my life so far, I still fail to fully comprehend how such a brilliant vocalist, guitarist, philanthropist, and all-around nice and goofy individual can be rolled up into the singular person that is Myles Kennedy. Yes, even after the fifth time.
