2018 Jaguar XJR 575
Jaguar has launched its latest full-size super sedan, the new 2018 XJR575, with a high-speed interview starring Jaguar designer Wayne Burgess being questioned by TV presenter and race driver Amanda Stretton as the performance sedan accelerates to its top speed of 186mph.
Lasting just 44 seconds – the time it takes the fastest iteration of the XJ sedan to reach its top speed – Burgess gave a quick-fire insight into the development of the potent new model.
The high velocity interview was almost over before it began, but the unrelenting acceleration of the new XJ flagship did not stop Burgess, Production Studio Director and SVO Projects Director at Jaguar, from providing a unique take on the performance sedan.
“I have done plenty of short interviews in my time, but nothing quite like this,” said Burgess. “It might have been a bit of fun, but doesn’t it just demonstrate perfectly the extreme performance of the new XJR575? I could barely finish answering those quick-fire questions before we hit 186mph and then it was all over! Can we go again?”
The XJR575 is the new performance flagship for the XJ range; its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine benefits from a healthy 25 horsepower increase – from 550HP to 575HP – which delivers a 0-60mph time of just 4.2 seconds1. Coupled with 517 lb. ft. of available torque, the new addition to the XJ range effortlessly accelerates from a standstill while drivers benefit from Jaguar’s characteristic interior refinement.
Customers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior color finishes created by Special Vehicle Operations – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey – while additional tailor-made exterior details include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring gloss black surrounds.
Updated exterior badging and twin hood louvers distinguish the vehicle from the rest of the range, as do the red brake callipers that accompany the 20-inch 5 Split-Spoke 'Style 5044' gloss-black wheels. Bespoke embossed tread plates alongside intaglio and diamond-quilted seating add a final flourish to the interior of the XJR575.
“This is a performance vehicle, but that doesn’t mean we have had to cut any corners when it comes to comfort or design,” said Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum. “Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar sedan. That makes this a very special car indeed.”
Further announcements for the rest of the core 2018 Jaguar XJ range and U.S. pricing will follow later this year.

Cars being abandoned on British roads trebles
Tumblr media
IRL/GB
Britain is ‘becoming a scrapyard’ as the number of cars being dumped and abandoned on the roadside trebles
There has been a resurgence of old bangers being left at the side of the road by their owners as higher scrappage costs are leading to more drivers looking to save on the scrapping costs.
The data comes from Freedom of Information requests to over 400 councils which revealed the number of cars being reported as abandoned has risen nearly three times from 40,876 in 2012 to 147,616 in 2016.
Experts are saying that this new trend was down to rising scrappage costs and also because drivers choosing to run their cars into the ground instead of switching them for newer models. The president of the AA, Edmund King, said:
“Twenty years ago if you had a rubbish car you could get £150 for scrapping it. But in recent years the price of metal has gone down and nowadays people will be asked to pay over £100 to have their car taken away and scrapped.
“We have also seen an increase in people keeping hold of their cars for longer and changing them less frequently to save money, so that is also likely to be a factor.”
According to the most recent data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers the average age of a vehicle on the road has increased, from 6.8 years in 2003 to 7.8 recorded in 2015.
The average age of a car at scrappage in 2015 rose to 13.9 years, up from 13 years in 2009. Sales of new cars has slumped in recent months leading to the SMMT revealing that second-hand cars have fallen by 1.1 per cent last year as the car-buying slump hit the used market for the first time.
Some 8.2 million used cars changed hands in 2017, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed, which is 87,000 fewer than the year previous.
Councils are now spending a million pounds a year on removing old bangers from the roadside with total of 18,941 towed away by councils in 2016, up sixfold from 2,797 in 2012, the data showed.
Fines for abandoning cars varies between councils but averages at around £132 per incident. It has also been revealed that three out of five UK drivers say they find these abandoned cars a nuisance and feel they make the streets look run down. 23 per cent drivers surveyed has said they have come across an abandoned cars on the side of a B-road.
The data was compiled by Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com:
“The rising cost of fuel, car insurance and tax is overwhelming some motorists, causing some of them to ditch their vehicles when they breakdown.
“Abandoned vehicles are an eyesore and a nuisance. Drivers who suspect a car has been dumped in their area should contact their local council, who will get in touch with the owner, or remove it.”

Renewal delays are costing van drivers
Most plumbers are facing extra van insurance costs as a result of committing to a policy at the last minute.
Confused.com has found that 53% of plumbers that own a van run a quote within 48 hours of their intended inception date for cover. Those that do receive an average premium of £854.60. However, the more organised van owners –running a quote 19-22 days before their inception date – received an average premium of £706.97, saving 17%.
Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com told HPM: “A worrying number of Plumbers are leaving buying their van insurance to the last minute – a mistake that is costing them up to £147, on average.
“According to our data, Plumbers should consider shopping for their van insurance around three weeks before their renewal date in order to optimise savings. Our go-to guide highlights the many other ways van drivers can save on their insurance. It can be as simple as shopping around earlier, or tips such as making the van more secure, which will also make it less prone to theft.”

Will these 5% yielders make or break your shares portfolio?
At first glance C&C Group (LSE: CCR) may appear a tasty selection for those seeking brilliant dividend yields.
The brewing giant has consistently lifted dividends even in times of sustained earnings weakness (C&C has endured three bottom-line reverses on the spin), and the City does not expect either trend to cease just yet.
A 6% profits drop is forecast for the year ending February 2018, worsening from last year’s 3% decline. But despite this, a total dividend of 15.5 euro cents per share is anticipated, improving from 14.33 cents previously and yielding a very chunky 5.3%.
And supported by an anticipated 5% bounceback in fiscal 2019 the firm is expected to lift the dividend again to 16.1 cents, shoving the yield to a formidable 5.5%.
C&C’s half-year market update on Thursday certainly suggested that payouts should continue swelling. In it the Dublin-based business announced it was lifting the interim payout by 5% year-on-year to 5.21 cents.
Too much risk
Still, in my opinion, today’s trading statement had a lot more for investors to worry about rather than news to encourage fresh bouts of buying.
The company — whose products include Bulmers and Magners cider and Tennents lager — saw net revenues slip 6.8% during the six months to August, to €273.1m, a result that pushed operating profit 4.9% lower to €50.5m.
C&C noted that “volatile market conditions remain across the industry,” and that while its UK businesses have made a “solid” start to the second half of the year, “in Ireland, where the cider category remains highly competitive, trading has been marginally slower than expected.” The firm has also been negatively impacted by currency movements, it advised.
C&C’s sustained share price weakness (the brewer has lost more than 25% of its market value in the course of 2017) reflects this increasingly-difficult trading environment. And while the business is doubling-down on brand investment to stimulate sales and cost-cutting to shore up the bottom line, I reckon the drinks giant is a risk too far right now.
I would give C&C a wide berth despite its undemanding forward P/E ratio of 13.1 times.
Dividend yields set to balloon
Those on the hunt for darling dividend stocks would be much better taking a look at eSure Group  (LSE: ESUR), in my opinion.
Unlike C&C, the car insurer and its peers are enjoying a steady improvement in market conditions as motor premiums continue their relentless northwards march.
Indeed, price comparison website Confused.com said earlier in October that policy costs had rocketed 14% over the past year, and that even worse is likely to come for Britain’s drivers — motorist editor Amanda Stretton commented: “There is every possibility that car insurance prices will be the most expensive on record during the first half of next year.”
It is hardly a shock, therefore, that eSure is tipped by City analysts to flip from an anticipated 5% earnings decline in 2017 to report a 13% improvement in 2018.
And this is expected to push dividends northwards again then, from a reduced 12.5p per share in the current period to 14.4p. These projections yield a very-decent 4.6% and 5.2% respectively.
I am convinced eSure should prove a brilliant bet for growth and income investors now and in the future.

Značka Jaguar představila nové XJR575 netradičním způsobem!
A to prostřednictvím rozhovoru s designerem Waynem Burgessem
Jde o Velocity Blue a Satin Corris Grey s přidanými designerskými prvky karoserie včetně zadního spojleru, nástavců prahů, předního nárazníku a spodních vstupů vzduchu s rámečky v lesklé černé barvě. Označení na karoserii a dva výdechy na kapotě odlišují tento vůz od zbytku modelové řady. Stejně jako červené brzdové třmeny doplněné o 20palcová kola v lesklé černé barvě. Výjimečnost interiéru XJR575 podtrhuje speciální prošívání sedadel a zakázkové embosované koberečky.
Ian Callum, Director of Jaguar Design zdůraznil:
„Jaguar XJR575 je velmi výkonný vůz, to ale neznamená, že jsme museli nějak slevit, pokud jde o komfort nebo design. Jaguar měl vždy skvěle propracované interiéry a XJR575 není výjimkou. Umí být velice rychlý, ale zároveň klidný a velmi komfortní, přesně to, co zákazníci od limuzíny Jaguar očekávají. Tato kombinace z něj dělá velice výjimečný vůz.“
XJR575 je vyráběn v závodě společnosti Jaguar Land Rover v Castle Bromwichi společně s modely XE, XF, F-TYPE a XJ.
