Appreciating the discography of Tristan Alric (composer for the game)
As you may have known, Tristan is the composer of the game, a fairly good one at that. However, when I was looking up information to add to on some pages for the wiki, I found his other work. Which suffice to say, made him one of my favorite musicians. I posted the tracks on Youtube (with credit ofc) and will link the other websites in general.
To know this man's underrated, here's an excerpt from the wiki:
[…] [Tristan] Alric took a break from video games at age 12 to work on his music, a passion he would continue into high school.
And from what I've researched, only a single forum has posted his other work, and unfortunate, as this game is niche enough already, and the fact this guy's career didn't pop off unlike others sad.
So, onto his selected discography:
Kemono|Dread Millennial (2017). EP comprising of two bangers (also on Spotify)
A Brief Moment Of Introspection (2017). The closest to his Bug Fables work (as he was "testing out some of the instruments & sounds that [he]'d end up using", it's great lofi.
Songs from the Past (2013). His oldest work available online, it's a collection of completed songs complied into one album. My favorite is "Things I Like", as it's fast paced, catchy, and a rollercoaster of a song.
Finally, is of course, his Bug Fables work, which most of this sub recognizes and is his most famous work. Do I even need to explain, it's at the top three.

Captive Winter: Meet the Cast
Meet the Cast!
Alric is the current King of the Northern Territories. A man shrouded in mystery, Alric is determined to protect his people and his family from any threats, even if it means opening up his borders--and possibly his heart--to those who can either help or hurt.
Nedra is a foreign ambassador from the Saltweather Islands. Fleeing a bloody and violent past, Nedra is determined to claw her way to the top and never look back. Setting her sights on the vast and powerful Northern territories, she must set aside her survivor's instincts and step into the shoes of a lady to beguile her way through court--all the while taking care not to lose her footing on the icy walls.
Tagging @spaceshipkat and @writeblrfantasy and @longsightmyth who are amazing writing buddies and friends!

Alric Essendon once snuck out of the castle to hunt for frogs with his friends and came back to learn that his mother had been assassinated.
Ten-ish years later, Alric snuck out of his room to hook up with a pretty servant girl and woke up to learn that his father had been assassinated.
Fun for him?

Rereading Riyria Revalations to a friend and struck by Alric's character development tbh.
The way he acts in the first Riyria book seems just arrogant and annoying, and super entitled (which it is). If you read a little more into it though, you can tell (the same way Royce and Hadrian do) that he is incredibly sheltered, and genuinely believes that saying/doing these things will save him-- that him telling them he's the king and treatening them with execution (again) will protect him. He has blind faith in his own importance.
At the end of the series, he becomes the king that everyone wanted him to be-- kind and compassionate, humble and wise. Don't get me wrong, he's still got an incurable case of "little shit syndrome," but this time he does it from a "we're all friends" standpoint and not an "I'm better than all of you" standpoint.
I'm just having a lot of Alric feelings today because he deserved a happy ending too and I will Cry For Ever that he did not get one.
