My first #rush #album was #2112. I think I heard it a couple years after it came out, when I was 14 or 15, and it hooked me on the band to this day. I wrote about it for @leefearnsideart’s award-winning #deadcelebrities #2020 collection - check out her page to learn more. "Tai Shan" é uma montanha localizada no centro da província de Xantum na China.

É considerada a montanha mais sagrada do país e por muito tempo foi um lugar de peregrinação imperial.

Neste pico há templos e obras de arte em harmonia perfeita com a natureza.

Esta montanha simboliza a renovação e faz parte do Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO.

"Tai Shan" é também uma bela balada do disco "Hold Your Fire" (1987) do Rush.

Nesta balada há a inclusão de instrumentos percussivos e de sopro que complementam toda a parte instrumental bem entrosada, harmônica e com criativas mudanças de andamento da banda.

A voz de Geddy Lee está bem cativante nesta faixa.

A letra conta a experiência de presenciar o esplendor da natureza no topo da montanha (com as nuvens se abrindo e oferecendo a possibilidade de ver uma deslumbrante paisagem até o oceano).

E também de se ter um insight místico de uma presença secular (que atravessou tempo e distância).

A banda conseguiu a proeza de criar um disco só com excelentes músicas.

The first Rush album isn’t super indicative of the band they would become. Most obviously, Neil Peart isn’t in the band yet—so no inhumanly complex drumming, no nerdy pretentious lyrics. The musicianship, while excellent and recognizably Rush, is nowhere near the virtuosic heights they would soon attain. No, this is just a really fun hard rock album… Rush in its not-fully-formed Baby Zeppelin era. And I adore it. Just look at those absolute dorks on the back cover (swipe for that). I ALMOST never do non-guitar or amp-related posts. And I have literally NEVER done PINBALL MACHINE post! But I just got back from my tour of the @yorkville_sound factory with @marshalllespaulfan and this so cool and "Toronto" that I figured I'd make an exception! 😉

Dig this totally insane Rush pinball machine that Yorkville has set up in their @traynor_amps museum! It's a working pinball machine, and also a juke box blasting Rush's greatest hits all day long! I'd love to work in an office where Rush was blasting every day when I got in! "Begin the day with a friendly voice" as it were... 😉

In fact, there's a little "Rush corner" in the Traynor Museum which includes some very interesting pieces used by the band on the R40 tour...but those deserve a complete post of their own. I won't say "amps"...but very much *like* amps? I can't describe them...you'll just have to wait and see! 😂

I do want to say a huge thanks to James and Ashley from Yorkville Sound for hosting and showing us around the production facility and warehouse (where EVERY @gibsonguitar guitar sold in Canada passes through and is QC-ed before being shipped out!), and introducing us to so many Yorkville staff who could not have been more friendly and welcoming - including @oldcrowcustomguitars whom I have been following on Insta for literally years (PS: thanks for showing me my first PLEK machine!)

Everyone we talked to was super proud, positive, and happy to talk about the work they are doing here - manufacturing the highest quality amplifiers and speaker cabinets, right here in Canada. It was a super positive experience and great to see.
