So here are my general impressions of the Touchstarved MCs based on the demo and OCs.

Unnamed: Religious trauma, cult survivor, in their “fall from grace” arc, “woman? no you misheard. I identify as an omen,” can range anywhere from wet cat to mass murderer with the highest kill count out of all of the origins (usually it’s both)

Hound: Poverty trauma, “eye of a needle,” career criminal — but if they weren’t, they give me union comrade vibes, either Just Some Guy™ or the deadliest badass there is no in between, but either way they’re probably really sad.

Alchemist: Parental trauma (whether it’s from birth parents or a parental figure via magic mentor), gifted kid burnout, there’s a little mad scientist in there — whether it is dormant, repressed, or fully embraced, there is a powerful compulsion to conduct ✨Experiments✨, Nerd™

This goes without saying but they also all need therapy.

anyone else think that leander and alchemist mc would have such a wild dynamic

like you have the alchemist who was taken in as a child by a talented exiled mage. she took pity on them because of their curse and taught them everything she knew. it must’ve been so wonderful to finally have a home, a teacher, after everything they’d been through. it was almost too good to be true

and then they found out that she just saw them as a test subject

so the alchemist runs away to eridia in hopes of discovering a cure, and finds a talented mage who is willing to help them. he gives them room and board, offers them drinks, encourages them to come to him when they need a reprieve. all free of charge. it’s wonderful to know a friendly face in a strange place, to have made a possible friend. it’s almost too good to be true

The Alchemist in my roster of Touchstarved MCs originated as The Apprentice/MC from The Arcana: A Mystic Romance.

I did not intend for Lyra to be used in TS, but once the reveal of the three origins dropped for Touchstarved, Lyra came barreling over from the Arcana part of my brain and demanded to take the slot for The Alchemist.

Seeing Alchemist!Lyra interacting with Apprentice!Lyra here is a joy to behold.

To conclude, I can't thank swestbifire enough for committing to this doodle sheet whilst they were under the weather. It has made my week!

Sorry I am just so curious, how would Prison Skull and Prison Copper react to each other?

Awh. Well, surprisingly, they'd actually be fast friends.

Skull looks at Copper, and he sees another lost Soul who's been through hell. Copper doesn't posture or fuss or talk too loud/fast like Red, he doesn't reek of power and lies like Sans. He's a fellow survivor, a fellow monster, another person who threw themselves entirely into the void in a last-ditch attempt to stay alive. For the first time in a long time Skull meets someone who's in an undeniably worse state than him... it makes Skull want to protect him. Stay close, guard his back, make him something to eat when things quieten down. Brotherly feelings, if you will.

Copper? He looks at Skull and he sees someone who understands the pain he's been through. Sure, Copper loves Mc so much it's difficult to comprehend, but he's aware of the fact that her pity comes from a place of kindness... not understanding. He didn't think anyone could really get the agony he's been through- until he looked at Skull. He smells the burning stench of tranquillisers still clinging to Skull's clothes, he sees the mask buckle scars on his jawbone, the slight defensive hook to his claws and the crack in his cranium. He sees the eyelight swollen with deep scars... and he feels at home.

They also have their mutual adoration of Mc, too. That helps.

@rjalker since I see people keep bringing Fullmetal Alchemist in the notes of your ‘dont use magic to be ableist’ disability post.

You know I keep seeing people bring up Fullmetal Alchemist on ‘how good’ its disability representation is and none of them fucking bring up the point that the main character’s disabilities are a punishment inflicted in him by more or less god for perceived sin. And that at least 2 other characters are disabled for the same reason.

Or that the major goal of the main character is to cure himself and his brother of their disabilities.

It is not the disability rep yall keep claiming it is. Regardless of how well written the characters disabilities effecting them is written.
