It's Up to Him
Abby breathes deep and lets her chest expand. She listens to the rain do its thing outside. It soothes her like nothing else. She doesn’t need the sound machine playing when nature does the work. She looks at Hail as he rises for a moment to the clouds but returns unscathed. The descent was graceful and he landed in the perfect spot; right next to Abby and the girls. Whether he decides to connect…

wtnv has so many characters that you can ship two background characters together with no problem and nothing happens to them and yet every day I am reminded that the Glow Cloud is dead and therefore my ship of her with Abby Palmer is defunct. A tragedy.

Mon 6/26
After breakfast, we started our hike through Winchcombe and turned east on Puck Pit Lane. After ~2 miles and passing some sheep, we entered the village of Hailes. We looked inside the 12th century church, where there are many 12th century wall paintings. The ruins of Hailes Abbey were closed, so we couldn’t visit there. Passing the Hailes Farm we climbed up to a marker known as Cromwell’s Seat, from which Cromwell supposedly watched the sacking of Hailes Abbey during the Civil War. Beyond this we hiked along the top of the escarpment (beautiful views!) and then descended past a horse and cow pasture into Wood Stanway, where we stopped for the night at Maggie Green’s Wood Stanway B&B.

Too tough for paradise
One peculiar side effect of Humans hailing from a Deathworld is that their biological well-being is partly dependent on some degree of microscopic hostility from the environment and what they consume.
It is normal among most species that, should their surroundings change to more hospitable conditions, their minds and bodies would feel relief and be under less stress. However, as with any changes, if they deviate too far too quickly from their normal, you risk damage from a sudden shock to the system.
___________________________
Abigail "Abby" Hostaz had been legally grounded by the Gyin-Trov due to her, ahem, "expansion of business" without the right permits. Not that she bothered to learn that nobody outside Human controlled space in the Galactic Coalition would allow the creation of a deadly asteroid race track AND let sentient beings directly pilot ships through it.
Hell, finding an Alien crazy enough to partake in an activity even most Humans consider insane is one in a trillion. She still did find seven non-Humans, so that math actually is within a reasonable margin. Everything else is not reasonable.
The local Gyin-Trov government learned of the true nature of her activities when a rogue asteroid suddenly appeared on their threat detection systems. The unnatural change of course quickly pointed to where she had set up her latest "thrill track", which the authorities rapidly dismantled, impounded her vessel, named "Victor", and put her under house arrest in the Human embassy awaiting the conclusion of the investigation and subsequent trial.
While station based embassies are effectively fully contained perfect habitats for the respective species, planet based ones tend to adopt a lot of the local elements and integrate what they can simply due to proximity and availability.
Humans, the resourceful buggers that they are, used everything the planet had to offer (that wasn't outright lethal to Humans, which in the case of the Gyin-Trov homeworld were only a few pollen producing crops found in the poles of the planet).
A combination of a almost perfect temperature range (near constant lows of 14C at night, highs of 21C mid-day), slightly higher moisture levels, and bio-engineered local flora that made the water into this somewhat thicker soup containing virtually every nutrient, vitamin and mineral a carbon-based lifeform could ever want, leaving little for the digestive system to tackle. Heck, just being within a field of such plants lets the body absorb everything for healthy survival.
In short, the Gyin-Trov homeworld, also named Gyin-Trov, is as close to Utopia as you can get.
Aaaaaaand Abby is not having a fun time there.
It's not like she was imprisoned - she was allowed to wander around the city and surrounding area under light supervision, she even had her cat, Hector, with her. But there just wasn't enough excitement to be found anywhere.
They had arcades and various physical activities, but she never felt her body grow tired after hours of competitive gaming and contests. No feeling of hunger or exhaustion ever disturbed her focus. The only thing that kept Abby from becoming, essentially, a zombie perpetually engaged in whatever activity was most fun at the moment was the inherent nature of the Human brain - it gets... wobbly after a while and needs sleep.
Not even a week had passed and people noticed Abby had become... different. No strong reactions to anything, no outbursts of some crazy ideas, just a general positive but not quite cheerful apathy. The Human ambassadors had experienced a much milder version of this, and it is theorized that they did not deem it as concerning due to the simple fact the ambassadors always had something to do, and more importantly - something that put their minds, if not bodies, to the test. Regular challenges, worries, and stress from work in general kept them on edge in some ways.
Abby was just waiting around, "put on vacation" as one of the ambassadors had put it. After a couple of more days of this peace, she seemed more like a automaton than anything else. Mindlessly going from place to place, trying out whatever activities were available, but clearly none offered anything close to the level of excitement and danger she had grown so used to. Not even the flawed thirty year old Human body she was in offered any surprises or discomforts.
Everything was just perfectly fine.
When the paperwork finally cleared and she was issued a fine and formally banned from engaging in any construction efforts in Gyin-Trov controlled space, she was reunited with Victor, and the personality changes she had undergone during her short time were seemingly instantly reversed.
Once she was in her ship and the self-diagnostics showed a few blinking lights, Abby immediately became energized and took action. Breathing in the recycled air with a hint of dry rust made that old bruise on her right side make itself known again. She pulled an all-nighter making repairs and "adjustments" to Victor and collapsed from exhaustion on the hard floor.
The next day, she was already near the border to neutral space when she noticed a dwarf planet with a rock formation in the shape of a trebuchet (very vaguely, if you squint really, really hard, and imagine half of the parts), and that gave her an idea.
All the while, Hector the cat did not exhibit any noticeable changes during his stay with Abby on Gyin-Trov. Maybe just a few more hours of sleep per day than normal.

Abby Anderson x Injured Reader
I need to be held so.. Just some fluff. Uses Y/N and some pet names, Some mentions of blood and a deep cut, Friends with benefits, Abby just kinda taking care of you cus she loooovesss you.. Not proof read.
It was your first patrol back after an incident that left you sidelined for weeks. Abby Anderson, someone you considered more than just an acquaintance, had insisted on being your patrol buddy for this crucial return to duty. . .
Hail hammered against your coat and hat, each icy pellet sent a jolt against your skin, matching the erratic pounding in your chest as you struggled to keep pace through the freezing storm. Abby's grip tightened on your arm to keep you balanced with your limp leg after snagging it on an old fence.
“Damn it, Y/N..” Abby’s voice trembled with a mix of worry and frustration, her breath visible in the frigid air. “It’s your First patrol back your surgery and you’re hurt again.. Base is too far. We have to camp out in this cabin..” Abby’s voice was breathy from the cold breeze and sniffle from her nose.
Her words cut through the howling wind, Together, you stumbled towards the rustic cabin. With every step, the hail seemed to intensify as you slowly inched to the door. You couldn’t help but wince from the sharp, uneasy twinge shooting through your leg.
Abby cautiously eased the door open, her senses alert for any sign of danger, her pistol drawn and ready in case infected had breached the cabin.
“It’s clear.. Let’s get you on that couch..”
The sight matched your imagination: an abandoned, dirty place, its abandonment was clear in the busted up floor boards and dirt along the trim.
"It's better than nothing," you managed, your voice trembling with each syllable, punctuated by the relentless waves of pain surging through your leg. "It’s just for tonight- I'll be alright by morning." Your words strained through the discomfort as you sat down on the filthy chair.
“I think I have a few matches left..Lets get a fire in here..” Abby rummaged through her pocket and grabbed a match, tossing it into the fireplace. Abby let out a low sigh as she focused her attention on you.
"Now, let me take a look at this knee, Angel.”
You couldn’t help but feel flustered by that stupid nickname she called you. She knew it pissed you off but you were in no mood to argue.
"It's nothing," you admitted reluctantly, feeling a pang of vulnerability as Abby rolled up your jeans. “Just... hurts more than I thought..”
“Oh yeah? Then why are you making a fuss about me just rolling up your jeans then?”
You couldn’t argue with that and just let her off with a grumpy sigh.
“I probably just.. pulled a muscle.”
Abby sighed as she saw the Laceration. “Sure thing..”
Abby unzipped her backpack and retrieved a med kit, she pulled out an antibiotic cleaner. With a careful touch, she began to clean the cut.
"It's gonna sting a bit," she warned, her voice gentle yet tinged with concern. "you need to hold my hand or somethin', love?"
You scoffed and looked away not wanting to accept her hand.. when suddenly the stinging was intense and aching throughout your thigh to ankle.
“F-fuck..!” You exclaimed and gripped the couch cushion to try and alleviate some pain.. Nothing worked. Abby’s free hand reached yours gently and she sighed, “Told you, Gotta listen to me more Princess.”
Whatever..
Abby removed the blood-soaked rag and applied some ointment. She then wrapped a gauze bandage on your cut and sealed it with medical tape. “Don’t get up from this couch until tomorrow morning. And I mean that Y/N.”
You let out a weary groan, adjusting yourself on the couch, using your backpack as a makeshift pillow. The dull ache persisted, and despite the discomfort, you tried to close your eyes to sleep while Abby searched the cabin for supplies and rations.
“There’s a bedroom if you wanna lay in there.” Abby leaned on the door frame to the living room looking down at you on the couch.
"Gods, yes I do," you whined, attempting to rise from the couch when Abby abruptly halted your movement. Her sudden intervention paused your attempt. Her hand rested gently on your shoulder.
"Easy there," Abby's voice was firm. "Let me help."
With a gentle hold, Abby swiftly slid her right hand under your thighs and her left hand under your back, lifting you with ease. Abby's biceps were toned and defined, when picking you up the muscles in her upper arms flexed, revealing a gentle curve.
"Comfortable? Just a few more steps. Easy now Princess.."
You couldn’t help but have that tiredness in your eyelids hit you as soon as you smelled her musky pine soap. The gentle tickle of the end of her braid against your arm was a subtle, soothing touch, each strand brushing lightly and creating a calming sensation. A soft yawn escaped your lips and you shut your eyes, you nestled your head into her shoulder as she lowered you into the little bed.
“Sleepy girl.” Abby laughed quietly and stroked your hair.
“Don’t go..” you whined as Abby started to walk off..
“You want me to stay? Like… in bed with you??”
“Yes.”
Abby couldn't deny that sleepy voice.
Abby slowly crawled into bed next to you. She picked you up and placed you on top of her chest where she cuddled you the rest of the night.

a love worth fighting for.
pairing: abby anderson x f!reader
synopsis: anderson is the name on everybody's lips when it comes to discussing the newest up-and-coming boxers of the season. with the help of her coach and you by her side, she's going for the world title. but what will she have to sacrifice to get there?
Tumblr media
an: so, it's finally here. this is a big one for me folks - i'd go as far as to say the biggest fic i've ever worked on. ever. i'd love for this to be multi chapter, but that depends on the reception part 1 receives. if you like it, please reblog and let me know your thoughts. i'm proud of this, so be kind with your comments x
warnings: 18+ mdni. violence, swearing, references to smut (despite this chap not having any super explicit content, if i decide to continue this fic there will defo be heavy smut in the next upload - so don't even bother reading the first part if you're not of age).
The MC’s voice reverberates throughout the stadium, drowning out the cacophony of cheers, boos, and overarching buzz from the crowd. You could never predict who they would back until the night, usually finding that boxing fans are easily swayed depending on who gets the first punch in. You were hoping all support would be directed at her tonight, god she needed it. Trying to maintain a positive attitude is hard when your girlfriend's opponent is making his way into the ring, his impressive height and wide, muscular shoulders towering leagues above his teams; arms raised, working the crowd and hyping them up in anticipation for the fight to come. They’re already eating out of his hands, the bastards.
“Ladieeees and Gentlemaaan! Welcome to the main event. In the blue corner, weighing in at 188 pounds, undefeated in 48 fights; he needs no introduction folks - it’s the man, the beast, Zach ‘Thunderstorm’ Norriiiiiis!”
The crowd roars in excitement, slapping their hands together and pumping their fists in the air. Zach is one of the nation's favourites, as any undefeated boxer would be. The nickname ‘Thunderstorm’ came from the sound his opponent’s bodies would make when they hit the canvas, like the crack of lightning. You look ahead with a neutral expression, keeping your eyes focused on the empty archway ahead of you - trying not to zero in on just how big his arms were. How they could crush someone's airways, smash apart their ribs, do irreplaceable damage.
You inherently hated what your girl did as a profession, hated the way she put herself in harm's way time after time after time. But there was also a part of you that admired her for it, for the unbreakable determination that radiated from her - if she got beaten down, she would get right back up and come at you even harder. It’s what kept forcing you to show up. That, and also the tiny factor of being absolutely in love with the woman. But when she got hurt, which seemed to be every other day lately, you really wanted to grab a hold of her fucking head and shake the-
“Aaaaand coming into the red corner, Thunderstorm’s opponent, weighing in at 175 pounds. She hails from Salt Lake City, and is rising through the ranks quickly. With 30 wins, 24 of them coming by way of knockout, give it up for the new kid on the block -  it’s Abbyyyyyy Andersooooon!”
And here she comes, bowling out of that archway with Coach right on her tails; the hood of her red robe covering her plaited hair, matching red gloves already fastened and ready. Even from where you were waiting by the stalls, you could see the all-too-familiar expression that befalls her face before every fight. Eyes so dark they look black, focused, unwavering; brimming with unshed aggression that are preparing for the violence that is about to ensue.
Frightening. Arousing. Another reason you’re still with her.
Abby ducks under the ropes of the ring, bouncing on her feet as she grounds herself on the canvas before moving over to her corner where Coach is now waiting. As you rush up to them, Coach gives you the look he always does before a fight - the type that screams, ‘you shouldn’t be here, girl.’ He thinks you’re a distraction, an irritating fly he’d rather swat away so he can make sure his prized money maker has the best chance at winning. You weren’t giving in that easily. Coach could go to hell for all you cared; you knew his real motivations when it came to all of this. Abby may regard him like a father, but you saw him for what he really was. A leech.
Coach shouts up into Abby’s ear, her head bent in concentration - “He’s a fucking showman. That, and a bit of muscle. You know you got the upper hand tactically; he has no fucking clue what’s about to hit him. Just stay focused Anderson, and this bout is yours.”
Abby nods resolutely, eyes trained on the canvas as she rolls her shoulders back and cracks her neck. Coach’s hands come up to grip the ropes between them.
“You gotta win this champ, you can win this. Just don’t. get. distracted.”
Both Coach’s and Abby’s eyes turn to you at the same time as you offer up a reassuring smile to your girlfriend, also now clutching at the ropes that separate you.
“You got this babe.”
She nods quickly and gives a tight smile, but you can tell from the tense line of her shoulders that she’s stressing out. Yes she’s fought before, but it was never on this big of a scale. Never against opponents like him. It was what Coach insisted was the next step –
“You wanna face off a load of wimps Anderson? Or do you wanna make it to champion status?... Yeah? Of course you fucking do. Then you gotta get in front of the crowds and beat the shit out of the favourites.”
Easy for him to say, he’s not the one going up against an undefeated fighter. But you had faith in your girl. That was never going to change. You move closer to the ring as she crouches down into the corner, Coach double checking he has all the supplies that she would need between rounds. You take her face in your hands through the division of the ropes and pull her in for a quick kiss - before she can move away, you hold her there and take her chin in your grip, eyes lingering on hers.
“Win thislike I know you can, and then come home and fuck me like a champion.”
You don’t give her time to respond as you let her face go and back away, moving into the crowd as you cheer her name. That posture of stress has eased slightly, and a smug smile is planted on her face instead. Coach, of course, comes and wipes that smirk away as he puts her mouthguard in, holding her head still as he most likely shouts some type of bull at her once again. But of course, she’s listening to him like it’s gospel. Amped up and ready to fight, Abby raises herself to full height, bouncing on her feet and swinging her arms to the side. The crowd aren’t sure what to make of her, most of them never even hearing her name before. But there is the occasional cheer for “Anderson!” amongst the rally of support for Norris. After all, people do love an underdog.
The announcer calls Abby and Norris into the middle of the ring, a hand on both of their chests as he explains, “Now I want a nice, clean game. Nothing below the belt. Are we clear?”
Both nod, pressing against the MC’s outstretched hands in an act of intimidation towards the other. Abby’s face is like stone, never breaking eye contact and standing strong. Norris on the other hand, his smirk was the show of pure arrogance. She better fuck this dickhead up. Both back away from each other, getting into a southpaw stance as the MC’s voice rings out for the last time.
“Are we readyyyyy…FIGHT!”
You forget about everything else when that bell rings; the crowd getting louder, Coach’s bellows erupting from her corner, the look on Norris’ face as he circles his prey. The toll of that bell ringing in your ears sounds like a death sentence, also signalling the start of round 1.
____________
By round 4, the feeling of uneasiness settles in your stomach and your eyes continue to follow her quick-shifting form, matching her movements so that when she ducked or flinched back, so did you. Both fighters have been pretty level with one another so far, both sending out jabs and uppercuts - only for them to be warded off before any real damage could be inflicted. It’s not enough to win though, she needs a clear hit.
Abby goes in for a right hook, ever so slightly clipping Norris’ chin and the crowd ripples in response, hoping for the real fight to begin soon. Norris responds with a clinch to stop her from advancing too quickly, wrapping his arms around and over her. You hated seeing him touch her like that, your own fists clenching at your sides in response.
The bell tolls again signalling the end of the round, both fighters making their way to their respective posts - but not before you see Norris saying something in Abby’s ear. She doesn’t move for a second, eyes unwavering on Norris as he turns his back. For a second you think she might go for him, but she’s worked too hard to let her temper win now. With a shake of her head, she goes over to Coach and plunks down on the ground - tearing off her gloves with her teeth and ripping out her mouthpiece. Her focus is still sharply on Norris across the ring, most likely getting strategy tips and a pep talk in her ear from Coach, reminding her to channel all that anger back into the task at hand.
You don’t move from your seat in the crowd, wanting to give her the space to fully zone in. She knows you’re here for her and only her, and you provided enough motivation at the beginning of the night to last the duration. You'd be lying if you said you didn't enjoy the view at the moment either, and that those feelings of uneasiness were also coupled with an overwhelming tide of arousal.
The way sweat is dripping down her face and neck, trickling down her chest and onto her arms. How she runs her hands over the top of her head, dousing it in water and brushing through the roots with her fingers to cool off. Yeah… you really hoped she did win tonight, not just because she deserves it from how hard she’s been training, but selfishly a part of you really wants to get fucked good tonight. Especially after the show she’s putting on for you right now. And you know for a fact it’s only for you.
Abby’s let you know multiple times how much she loves you watching her fight, seeing her crush opponents to a pulp and looking absolutely glorious doing so. It’s upsetting that tonight, she isn’t doing so well. But this is what she and Coach wanted, to start moving up the leagues and facing off against better fighters - solidifying her name among the real competition. You try to stop the negative thoughts from creeping in, try to stay positive for your girl.
The rounds keep stacking up, neither Abby or Norris winning the upper hand for long. It’s evident that both fighters are getting aggravated by round 9, their punches falling on the side of reckless, their expressions displeased and downright pissed. You shout as loud as you can, “Come on baby, you can do this!” in the hopes that Abby can hear you over everyone else. And she must have done, as her head slightly turns in your direction on instinct, and Norris’ gloved fist takes the opportunity to make contact with the side of her face in response.
The crowd screams with excitement, satisfied with the fact that something is finally happening. But all you see is red as the blood sprays from Abby’s mouth on impact, her body crashing into the ropes that barely keep her form upright. You take a step forward as does Coach, you both now waiting for the bell to ring so you can meet her at the post. 12 seconds.
Come on, just stay out of his way for a bit longer…avoid the fucker for 12 seconds!
Abby’s so stunned from that first punch that as she tries to right herself on the canvas and pick up her stance, Norris is already waiting with another blow to the face - this time an uppercut that sends her head flying back and her legs out from under her.
No no no no, NO!
5 seconds.
You’re screaming for her to get up as the crowd counts how long she’s been down.
1…2…3-
“Stand up! Abby stand the FUCK UP!”
A wave of an arm and a twitch of a leg has you screaming in relief, as Abby slowly gets back on her feet before a KO can be declared, just as the bell signals the end of the round.
Abby all but bolts for her corner, leaning her body and head back against the post - her eyes shut from exhaustion and pain. Coach partially moves out of the way for the cutman, who is trying to clean the blood from her face as best they can - the enswell pressing against the areas where Norris’ punches made impact.
You can see she’s starting to give up, that undeniable fire in her eyes has dulled to a mere glow. You can’t stand it. You try to move your head further into her corner to say “Baby, you can do this, you just gotta-”
Before you can finish, Coach has climbed through the ropes so he’s kneeling directly in front of Abby’s hunched figure, grabbing the back of her head so their foreheads are nearly touching.
“You listen to me Anderson. You’re jumping about this ring like a fuckin’ monkey on steroids. Calm the fuck down, focus in on the technique we’ve been working on for months and stop…getting…distracted.”
At this, both heads turn in your direction. Abby’s expression shows you she isn’t angry about being distracted from your support; she knew you were coming from a good place. Coach on the other hand is looking at you like you went up there and hit her yourself. He never liked when you were around, always insisting that partners were just unwanted emotional baggage that could wait until after the last punch was thrown. But Abby refuses to get in the ring if you aren’t watching from the sidelines.
“Not going out there without my girl, Coach - she’s my lucky charm.”
“Well your lucky charm has been making you late to training. Gotta get your head back to the task at hand. You can play housewives later.”
But tonight isn’t the night to bicker with Coach about things that won’t change. You will both always be here for Abby, and right now she needs you. You hold her gaze, giving a smile and a wink - “Are you seriously giving up this easy? You and me both know you’ve got it in you to bring this piece of shit down. Come on Abs…fucking finish it.”
Coach is clapping her shoulders in agreement, lifting Abby up so she can shake out the stiffness and get ready for the next round. What you hope to be the last round. You take your position back up in the crowd, and get ready to cheer for your, and her, life. The bell rings out.
Round 10.
____________
She makes every punch count, unleashing herself at Norris like a fucking beast. He doesn't know how to respond to it at first, taken aback at how quickly Abby has switched up her fighting style. The renewed vigour in her movements only enrages Norris even further, the confidence that this fight was his now starting to crack under the weight of Abby’s rage.
He still manages to land some blows, but it’s almost as if she’s stopped feeling them - blinded by the sheer animalistic instinct to push through and keep punching. A flurry of blows to Norris’ face causes him to hunch down and over for relief, but what he doesn't realise is that he’s just given her the perfect head shot from above.
The blow comes fast, and hard. You wince as her gloved fist makes impact with the back of his bent head, forcing his body further beneath her.
Norris goes down, face first into the canvas at Abby’s feet.
Knockout.
The volume of the crowd increases, if that’s even possible, counting along with the MC to ten to see if Norris has it in him to keep going. You’ve never been more relieved when he doesn't move a muscle.
8…9…10! KNOCKOUT!
You’re screaming, jumping with your arms in the air like a crazy person. She won. Abby won. The MC brings her to the centre of the ring, raising her arm with his to signal her victory. She’s shouting too, showing her black mouthguard mixed with the sight of fresh blood, unable to stand still as she takes a victor’s lap, celebrating her win.
Coach rushes up, gripping her in a bear tackle whilst you look on from the sidelines - still trying to come to terms with what you’ve just witnessed. She won. Against ‘Thunderstorm.’ This is what she’s been working towards for months, hoping for the chance to make her name known among the big leagues. Your girlfriend just put herself on the map, and it wasn’t about to go unnoticed…
____________
It takes a while for you all to make your way out of the stadium, fans constantly asking for autographs and pictures with the underdog-turned-champion of the night. It was nice to see. Finally, Abby was getting the recognition she deserves. Coach was eating that shit up, as expected, spreading the word to anyone that listened that we had a new heavyweight world champion in the making. Abby would get that glint in her eye at every mention of the ultimate title: world champion.
Her head might as well be made of glass, because you can see exactly what’s happening up in that brain of hers as she processes the weight of what’s happened tonight. She can see the prize that has never been in reach now that little bit closer. And she wants it. Bad. You go to remind her to take it one step at a time, but you know it would be received the wrong way.
A number of journalists and presenters were waiting by the entrance of the stadium as you emerged into the cold night. They rush you as soon as they spot Abby. You weren’t expecting so many people to come at you with cameras and microphones, reaching around, past, through you to get to her. A flurry of voices swarm the now enclosed space.
“Anderson, how do you feel after tonight’s knockout performance?”
“Who’s next on your kill list?”
“Are you staking your claim on the heavyweight belt?”
“How will you be celebrating tonight, Abby?”
Overwhelmed, you take a step back so Abby is ahead of you - Coach now placing his arm around her shoulders to also lean into the microphones held up against Abby’s mouth.
“The next fight is coming sooner than you think. Anderson is ready to take on any of these amateurs and claim the title that is rightfully hers.”
The interviewers all look to Abby expectantly, hoping she seconds the statements made. Of course she does. It’s Abby.
“I’m ready for the next fight. This is what I’ve been training for and I'm not going to slow down now. Put any fighter in front of me and I’ll deal a knockout to whoever wants one.”
You hear this and let out a long breath. This was the flaw that irked you most about Abby. She never knows when to take a break - to step back and appreciate how much she’s already achieved. Once she gets something, it’s on to the next. You just worry that she’s going to burn herself out.
As expected, her comment only invited them to ask more, now wanting to hear the name of the next person she wants to challenge and when that would be. Coach begins to move you all forward again, giving that cheshire smile he’s perfected and a sly “you’ll have to wait and see” - most likely aiming to leave some suspense in the air so more articles are printed tomorrow.
All three of you go to move through the reporters, making your way to a black SUV waiting just ahead. From where you took a step back, the crowd sees an opening and begins to slot themselves in between you and Abby, hot on her heels with more burning questions. When she turns her head to answer them, that signature smirk on her face is quickly replaced with alarm, then stone cold anger.
One reporter is physically elbowing you out of the way to get a better angle for his picture, the flash blinding you for a second, causing your head to snap the opposite direction.
You hear her voice ring out over everyone.
“Get your hands off my girlfriend and back away. Now.”
She pushes through until she’s in front of elbow-camera guy, who is currently regretting his choices now Abby is towering over him, his mouth slightly open with a mixture of awe and fear.
“Do you think it’s ok to treat a woman like that? Do you think you can push my woman out of the way and expect me to pose for a photo?”
He’s frozen to the spot, and Abby only raises her eyebrows in response. Taking your hand and pulling you to her side, she turns you both around after muttering “watch yourself” to the wimp you leave behind.
“Sorry baby” she whispers in your ear, thumb brushing down the side of your arm. Placing a hand on the small of your back, she leads you both through to the SUV and watches you get into the car before joining you. The voices now muffled; you finally release a breath you hadn’t realised you’d been holding in since the start of the night. She was fine. She’s safe. Everything’s ok again.
Now you finally have a chance to talk just the two of you - well, you and Abby and Coach - you want to make sure she isn’t serious about jumping straight into another fight. But when she turns to you, her eyes alight with pure happiness that you haven't seen in a long time, you decide to have that talk in the morning.
You have a champion to take home…
____________
The minute you get through the front door of your apartment, you’re leading her to the bathroom to get cleaned up. She’s got that dazed look in her eyes of someone in a dream. Only this dream is real, and you couldn't be happier for her. But God, does she look rough. Hot, always, but rough.
“Did you see how fast he went down when I threw that last punch, bubs? I felt like my chest was going to explode during those 10 seconds, it felt like a lifetime to wait. I need to start thinking about my next move with Coach and strategizing ‘cos I could never use exactly the same technique, these fighters are way smarter than any of those fuckin’ rookies I’ve fought before and-”
“Woah, Abs slow down.” You give a slight chuckle as she realises her rambling, holding her hands up in defeat - allowing you to lightly push at her shoulders so she can sit on the toilet. You grab the first aid bag in the cabinet, packed with the essentials that have come in handy many times through the years. The cutman at every fight has of course offered to clean Abby up, but you always took it upon yourself to take care of her wounds at the end of the night. You both liked it that way. You were gentler, caring.
Getting down on your knees in front of her, you get to work wiping the dried blood from her face, placing cold packs and plasters over her swollen cheek and jaw. She sits there in silence, patiently watching you do it all - her hands trailing over your face, neck, arms.
“ ‘m sorry for not noticing you got left behind…don’t want you to think I forgot about you or anything. I just get carried away with it all, ya know?” she mutters, cutting through the silence - cupping the side of your face with her hand as her fingers begin to brush through your hair. You close your eyes as you revel in the feel of it, nuzzling into her palm to give it a kiss.
“It wasn’t your fault, bubs. Besides, you came to my rescue in the end…like always” - you give another kiss to her open palm, reaching up to take her hand in both of yours so you can kiss her sore knuckles.
“Besides, it was kinda worth getting pushed just so I could see you make that guy absolutely shit himself.” You both burst out laughing, leaning in close to one another as if you were best friends sharing a secret. This was the Abby that only you saw. The one who didn’t have the weight of the world on her shoulders, who could just be and not think about the next move.
You whisper, “I’m so proud of you,” and she almost begins glowing with pleasure from your praise.
Abby pulls you in by your face, hands back to cupping either side, eyes turning mischievous.
“I nearly forgot…I have one more thing I need to do tonight.”
You grin up at her, “oh yeah? And what’s that?”
She leans in further, her mouth stopping to hover just next to your ear, whispering “I need to fuck you like a champion.”
Her hand comes down to cup you through your jeans, squeezing ever so slightly. You’d be lying if you said you haven’t been waiting for this ever since they declared KO, getting wetter by the minute just thinking about the moment when she fucks you good and proper.
“Come on baby…time for round 1.”

heres your friendly reminder that you very much should listen to every liveshow if you're able. if you can't afford it (or find someone willing to lend it to you) then at least asking someone what happened or going to @cecilspeaks or the wtnv wiki and reading the available transcripts is strongly advised.
from my recollection, here are some of the main important things from the current liveshows:
The Debate: more info on hiram and the FOW's political platforms, marcus vanston becomes an angel, kevin can see the FOW's face
Condos: the in-canon reason why carlos' voice changed, carlos and cecil moving in together, what carlos thinks a perfect life would be, cecil saving carlos for once
The Librarian: i don't recall this one having anything with long-term relevance except for giving us a better understanding of the librarians, but carlos and cecil are horny at each other in it and that's always fun
The Thrilling Adventure Hour: this one i'm a hypocrite about and didn't listen to sorry
The Investigators: carlos is really cute in it but also very cringe and it hurt bulk a lot to listen to. cecil's desk is made entirely out of knives and he has a nest of owls in his office, pamela winchell is part falcon, cecil almost gets murdered. kevins in this one too if that sweetens the pot for anyone
Ghost Stories: get a lot of character insight for a lot of reoccurring characters and also learn a ton about cecil's childhood and relationship with abby. i consider this one to be the most important wtnv liveshow and if you can only get one, this is it
All Hail: info on the glow cloud's personality and motivations, info on deb's family, tamika flynn is immune to the glow cloud's mind control, pamela winchell is into deb, cecil describes his engagement ring, cecil admits he's aware that all his interns always die
A Spy in the Desert: deb knows every secret in town, cecil was stuck at 19, cecil cries every morning because he's getting older, this is where we first learn about esteban
The Haunting of Night Vale: this one doesn't have a transcript up for me to reference to so what i remember is that we get cecil's musings on how his childhood trauma is creating insecurity in himself as a husband and father, also we get to see cecil be a little sugar baby and carlos sweating over how much he's spending
The Attic: i wont spoil this one because it's on going
if anyone else has things they thought were important from the liveshows please feel free to add. i just went off my memory and a skim of the transcripts, which don't always transcribe all the bonus content

I really wish TVD wasn’t made by a racist coz IMAGINE what a storyline we could’ve gotten out of Bonnie’s witchcraft. Like the Bennett witches did get a good storyline but like they could’ve delved into her ancestry more, like African or creole traditions and stuff and where the Bennett magic hails from and stuff like that.
Imagine if Bonnie was the one who got pregnant by Klaus due to the one night stand and left Mystic falls and ended up in New Orleans. ( I know it would have been very ooc of her but let’s imagine there was a build up with Klaus in S4, they could’ve went from enemies to lovers) With the whole Witches storylines in The Originals, it would’ve made a better storyline and more sense than Hayley getting pregnant out of nowhere.
She could’ve showed up in TO, imagine her and Marcel as a BFF duo OMGGGGGG.
And Hope would’ve been a Bennett witch tribid as well, that would’ve been so interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Bennett lore is quite unmatched being the foundation of everything. That’s the pro in this and every woman in their line is a witch how badass are those women! The con is how the writers reduced them to servitude other than that I agree. The writers loved the heroic, selfless, courageous, intelligent, and powerful character that Bonnie embodies but they don’t like the black aspect of Bonnie. Which is why the other shows and witches are different variants of Bonnie. Seeing African or creole culture included in the originals would’ve been nice! I know some fans praise TO for how they handled black characters but they were a very small step above the Bennett witches. Kat Graham does have Liberian roots they could’ve done something with that as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to bash Hayley or Phoebe Tonkin at all but it is a sign of favoritism and white privilege that she showed up after Kat/Bonnie (same for the Originals themselves) and got a spin off and full push that Bonnie or the Bennett’s were never going to get.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t think it would’ve been OOC if Bonnie got with Klaus or any other vampire/villain. Bonnie was friends with all vampires. She wasn’t getting emotional support and always getting the short-stick. That alone would push anyone to snap and find bliss in the darkness. Bonnie’s expression arc was all about her showing that darker side. Bonnie, Abby, Sheila each have tons of unpacked family drama that anyone else would have explored. If Hope was biracial not only would she have a connection to a witch-bloodline there would have to been a plotline to see how Bonnie unpacks her mommy and daddy issues. Least we have fanfics for our girl!

Silence In
There’s Hail. His light flickers on. There’s Abby. She’s refocused. They try their best to avoid bombardment of numbers, news, and brews by leaving them all alone. She chews gum. He chews on pizza left over from the night before. A day of rest. A day of peace. Their home a sanctuary filled to the brim with the holy ghost. Abby blessed the home right from the beginning with oil and prayers to the…

Rickmas 2023: Day 20. Returning Home | Snape & Abbie
Tumblr media
AN: This is a repost of a one-shot I posted before but it fits the prompt so perfectly I couldn’t bring myself to do anything else! (Also I am lazy lol)
Art by @reinekefoxart!
Read now on Ao3 or below the cut:
December 1999
Abbie was exhausted. She’d endured an eight-hour flight, she was jetlagged, and the muggle border control had almost seen the magical flora she’d brought back with her before she managed to surreptitiously cast a charm to disguise it.
She was actually home a day earlier than promised. She wasn’t sure she could handle meeting her family at the airport - it had been hard enough for her when they’d seen her off. She’d much rather see them for the first time in a more comfortable and less public setting. So she had moved her flight a day earlier, and decided to surprise them at home.
She was too exhausted to apparate, especially carrying heavy luggage, so she hailed the Knight Bus and tried not to vomit as it jumped around the country, eventually landing outside the cottage she had missed so much. They’d been living in it barely more than a year when she left, but it already felt more like home to her than either of her parents’ previous houses.
As she pulled her suitcase up the path, Abbie looked up at the windows. The lights were off upstairs, and only the living room light was on - her sisters were probably already asleep, her mother in the living room and her father either there with her or in his study.
Abbie tried to suppress the grin on her face, but she couldn’t help it. It had been an incredible few months, and she was looking forward to her next semester, but she had been so homesick, and she was excited to see them again.
She knocked on the door. She could have let herself in, but she was her father’s daughter and she wanted to add some flair to her unexpected arrival.
The door opened a crack. Then, after a moment’s pause, it opened fully.
“You cheeky bugger!” Persephone laughed. “Come here.”
She pulled her daughter into a hug, and Abbie melted into her mother’s familiar embrace.
“Oh, I missed you!” Persephone said with relief.
“I missed you too, Mum,” Abbie replied with a grin on her face. “Are the girls asleep?”
“Yes, I just put them down an hour ago. How have you been?” Persephone stepped back to usher Abbie inside, taking her suitcase in for her. “Have you been eating properly? Are you keeping safe?”
Abbie laughed. “Great, yes, and yes. It’s amazing how much safer I feel when there’s no Death Eaters lurking in the shadows.”
“Speaking of which - Severus!” Persephone called. He was, unsurprisingly, in his study. “Look who’s here!”
With less than a day to Abbie’s return, Severus was getting anxious. He had been counting down the days to her return since she’d left. He knew he’d miss her, but he’d had no idea just how much; it felt as if he were missing a limb. Or, more accurately, it was as if he were missing a piece of his soul. She wrote, of course, but owls couldn’t fly across the Atlantic and so they had to rely on muggle post, which took far too long for Severus’ liking. He was proud of her for following her dreams, of course he was, but did those dreams really have to be three thousand miles across the ocean?
And so, on the day before she was due to arrive, Severus’ tension was at an all time high. Persephone had taken the girls to bed, leaving him to distract himself the way he knew best - by locking himself in his study and working until something or someone reminded him of the outside world.
That reminder came when he heard his wife’s voice calling his name.
“Severus! Look who’s here!”
Severus sighed. He didn’t care a jolt who may be visiting them so late at night. Abbie wasn’t back until tomorrow, and so there was nobody it could be that would interest him.
When he didn’t respond, she knocked on the door. “Sev!” Persephone called again.
“Tell them to sod off,” Severus called back.
“Oh, fine, I’ll just fly back to New York, then.”
Severus froze. He recognised her voice immediately, and he knew no one else who would have flown from New York - and nobody else quite as sarcastic, although Potter gave her a good run for her money.
He practically leapt from his desk, ignoring the bang of his knee against the corner as he hurried to fling the door open and step out into the hallway.
Sure enough… there she was. She grinned at him.
Forgetting all decorum, Severus strode across the hall to her; she met him halfway, and they collided into a tight embrace as effortlessly as if it were rehearsed.
It felt as if something had slotted into place. It was like taking a sip of cold water when desperately thirsty, or that first bite of food on a starving stomach. A human needs food, water and sleep to survive, but Severus had a fourth need - he needed his best friend.
Abbie clung to him as tightly as he did to her, as if they were both afraid of losing the other again. Severus felt a tear run down his cheek, but he didn’t care. It was a tear of relief, of joy, to have his daughter home again.
“I missed you,” Abbie mumbled into his shoulder.
“And I, you,” Severus replied softly. He kissed her gently on the side of her head - oh, how he had missed those little affections - and pulled back to look at her.
He frowned.
“What the fuck is this?” he asked, lifting a finger to her hair to examine a streak of purple that sat beneath her black locks.
“I knew you wouldn’t like it,” Abbie laughed. “Funnily enough, that didn’t deter me.”
“I suppose the thought only encouraged you.”
Abbie grinned mischievously. Severus couldn’t resist a small smile, relieved as he was to have his daughter home, the smartarse that she was.
“Are you two still having your moment?” Persephone asked as she arrived back at the base of the stairs. “I can come back later.”
“We’re done,” Abbie promised, although Severus disagreed, but he allowed her to step away from him. “I know it’s late, but can I have some dinner? The food on the plane was garbage.”
“Oh, Merlin, she’s speaking like them now,” Severus sighed. “Remember you’re a Hogwarts girl, Abbie, not Ilvermorny.”
“Oh, there’s a boy in my suite who’s from Ilvermorny!” Abbie said excitedly as Persephone began rummaging around in the freezer for food.
“How do you know? You weren’t risking magic in front of muggles, I hope?” Severus asked sternly.
Abbie squirmed uncomfortably. “Actually, he recognised me. Well… my name. Well… your name.”
“Our name,” Persephone reminded her. “We’ve only got frozen pizza, by the way, we were going to go shopping tomorrow before you got in.”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Anyway, I introduced myself and he asked if my father was Severus Snape. Turns out you’re famous over there now too.”
“Oh, Merlin,” Severus sighed.
“But he’s the only one! Nobody else knew. It was nice, actually, to at least have one person over there who knew I’m a witch, but to everybody else I was completely anonymous. People know who I am because of me, not because of you.”
Severus smiled, although his heart twinged with a little sadness too that her new life was so completely separate from him.
“Did he tell you about the Ilvermorny houses?” Persephone asked as she placed the pizza in the oven and set the timer.
“Yes, and I reckon I’d be in Pukwudgie.”
Severus scoffed. “Pukwudgie? Really? What a ridiculous name.”
Persephone looked at them both thoughtfully. “No, she’s right,” she said. “Well, you’re both right - it is a stupid name, but it represents the heart. And no one has a bigger heart than our Abbie.”
“What house do you think you’d be in?” Abbie asked.
“Horned Serpent,” Persephone replied. “You too, Sev.”
Severus humphed. “Well, I suppose that sounds most similar to Slytherin.”
“Actually, it’s more like Ravenclaw. There isn’t really an equivalent to Slytherin. But, yes, it is snakey.”
“Snakey,” Abbie repeated with a laugh. “Snapey and snakey?”
“Exactly!”
Severus shook his head in dismay. He knew it wouldn’t be long until the twins started talking - Ariadne had already managed a few words - and he’d no doubt be subjected to even more nonsense.
He sighed. “Well, Abbie, would you like to join us to watch a film tonight, or would you rather head straight to bed?”
Abbie rolled her eyes. “Oh, sure, because I came home a day early because I missed my bed.” She nudged him playfully. “I came because I missed you, you dolt. What are we watching?”
“We were trying to decide earlier but we couldn’t agree,” Persephone said, leading them into the sitting area.
“Oh, is this the DVD player Dad bought you?” Abbie asked curiously, recalling the letter she’d received a little over a week after her mother’s birthday.
“No, it’s the DVD player your sisters bought me,” Persephone corrected her.
“Oh, right, of course. They bought it. With their money.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, they don’t have money,” Severus sighed. “The shopkeeper simply gave it to them when he saw how cute they are.”
Abbie nodded, as if this were a completely sensible thing to happen. “Well, if you two can’t decide what to watch, I’ll choose something.” She looked through the handful of DVDs that were sitting on a shelf, while her parents settled back into their seats.
“Ha! Told you!” Persephone exclaimed victoriously when Abbie chose Se7en.
“And where am I supposed to sit?” Abbie asked when she turned back towards them and saw that Persephone was sat on the end of the sofa, her legs on Severus’ lap as he sat in the middle.
“With me, of course,” Severus said matter-of-factly. He gestured to the remaining seat next to him, and with a roll of her eyes Abbie sat, cuddling up to him before hitting play on the remote.
“Worth coming home early for?” Severus asked softly as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into an embrace.
Abbie smiled. “Definitely.”

@kat.mcnamara Well folks, #WalkerIndependence may have bit the dust but the #WalkerLegacy lives on in the story we told, the memories we created, and the town we built. Thank you Abby Walker for walking in the tall grass so future Walkers can run. Your strength, tenacity, and refusal to fit the mold serve as an inspiration moving forward. Above all, thank you for reminding me that no matter how many times you get shot off the wagon and it goes up in flames, you can always rise from the ashes and begin again. Thank you for joining us on the trail out west and making a home as we did in our little town of Independence. Most of all, thank you to the #WIndyfam - our fearless cast and crew who braved wind, hail, mosquitoes, heat, lighting, and so much dust to tell this story with heart, passion, and unparalleled artistry. We made a western - but above all, we made a family. I left my heart in Independence- and with every one of you beautiful people. All my love always - Mary Abigail “Djon-deh-zee” Mackenzie Collins Walker. ❦𖣔

My favorite book is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I didn’t mean for it to happen, but it turns out I’ve listened to it more than ten times.
It’s just so good. So suspenseful and funny and nerdy and emotional and it makes me cry so hard every time.
And it makes me want to write (well, read) a… what would a story taking place in parallel be called? Paraquel?
Yeah, a paraquel following the life of one of his students while Grace is “traveling”. I’m not sure about the whole thing, but I am sure about a scene at the end.
There he was. Her throat clenched and tears welled in her eyes. He looked older of course, but not nearly as old as he would have been without time dilation. The harsh gravity had done a number on him too; back hunched, steps slow and pained, his face drooping almost comically, but it was him. She’d hung back as the captain and the rest of the crew greeted him, shaking hands and giving hugs and smiling wide. She waited for a lull.
“Hello, Mr Grace.” Her voice was thin, wavering with tears, but he heard her, his eyes searching the room. The crew heard her too, captain frowning while Shaan spoke up, irritated voice loud in the small room.
“It’s Doctor Grace. Have some respect, Miller.”
She hadn’t told them. Why would she have? They hadn’t traveled to the 40 Eridani system for Grace, they had come to meet the neighbors. Ryland Grace was dead, he had died saving Earth, and even if his last message said he was turning back to save Rocky and his people, that didn’t mean he had survived his heroic sacrifice. She had hoped though.
“No, it’s Mr Grace. He told me so, first time we met. Wrote it on the board as he introduced himself.” Her voice was still wavering, and tears ran down her cheeks as she looked at her old teacher. “I haven’t seen you since you walked out in the middle of class.” She smiled at him through the tears. Her throat hurt. He was alive.
His eyes stared at her, widening in comprehension. “Abby? Oh my god, Abby? Is it really you?”
She nodded, completely ignoring her captain asking what was going on in the background. “Hi, Teach.”
A sob erupted from his throat as he stepped towards her, hands reaching out. “Abby. You grew up.”
She laughed and took his shoulders, pressing her forehead against his. “I did.” Then she pulled away and grinned. “You didn’t. I’m almost caught up to you.”

Okay, so my brain is beginning to explode with Lars Pinfield headcanons (as I'm pairing him with my OC, Natalie, in the Cathleen Lives AU), so I'm just laying them all out here.
I just hope that none of them get disproven if he's in the next movie (Gil Kenan said that he and Jason Reitman are playing for two more movies after Frozen Empire.)
Regardless, feel free to use these headcanons.
Lars was actually born in Swindon, but when he was two years old, his family moved to Kettering.
He has an older sister (by eight years) named Abigail (goes by Abby). I imagine her to be played by Billie Piper.
Tumblr media
More under the cut:
Abby works as a teacher for deaf students, mainly from grades kindergarten to second grade. She is fluent in both American and British Sign Language.
Abby also has two daughters, seven-year-old Alexa and three-year-old Luna, with her ex-boyfriend, who is NOT in the girls' lives.
After Abby's boyfriend ditched them, Lars stepped up to help his sister and nieces, and moved in. When he was recruited by Winston,
Lars and Abby's mother, Maggie Pinfield (nee Brennan) [her name comes from @pinfield's headcanon], is American, hailing from New York City.
Maggie's faceclaim is Linda Hamilton.
Tumblr media
She's a badass who will require a post of her own.
Lars and Abby's father, William Pinfield, is also a scientist; but like Egon's Uncle Cyrus, laments his son's career in a "fringe" field.
Lars is the best uncle. Like, he barely could hold a baby when Alexa was born, and now these two girls are his entire world.
Since Maggie is an engineering genius, she was able to figure out how to pirate American television after moving to the U.K., so they got a lot of access to American soap operas.
His first crush was Genie Francis, aka Laura Spencer from General Hospital.
Lars and Callie develop a brother-sister bond; he and Phoebe also bond, and he teaches her a few of his coping techniques for when she's having a sensitive day.
