Typing Tips That I Stumbled Upon Randomly:

The Ctrl key lets you jump between words really quickly. If you hold Ctrl and press the left or right arrow keys, instead of moving your cursor 1 character you'll move it a whole word; if you want to edit that word that's 3 words back, you can just hold Ctrl and left-left-left, and you're there.

Even more useful in my opinion, if you hold Ctrl and press Backspace you'll delete the entire word you're on. That's just really nifty because a lot of the time when you're deleting you want to delete the whole word, so this is much faster.

Also, idk how well-known this is but holding Shift and moving your cursor will make you highlight any characters you move over. That's useful on its own, but combining that with Ctrl lets you quickly highlight whole words or sentences, so you can easily copy+paste them. You can also hold Shift to edit any selections you made with your mouse or something.

Also it took me too long to realize that the Home and End keys are actually really nice sometimes. Home takes you to the start of the line you're on, and End takes you to the end. Hold Shift while doing that and you can highlight the whole line. Very nice for programming. Also holding Ctrl and pressing Home or End takes you to the top or bottom of the page, but I barely use that.

A similarly useful key that I also overlooked is the Delete key. It's like the Backspace key, but it deletes the character in front of your cursor instead of behind it. Just like with Backspace Ctrl+Delete lets you delete a whole word in front of your cursor.

Also Ctrl+A lets you highlight the whole page.

Also even when you're not typing and instead just browsing a web page or something, you still technically have a cursor; if you click a piece of text, then hold Shift and press the arrow keys, you'll start highlighting text.

Practice Exercise: Click on the t in this word, then hold Shift and press left and right on the arrow keys! Now try holding Ctrl+Shift while you press the arrow keys! Hold Shift and press Home or End! Hold Shift and use your mouse to left-click on different spots in the paragraph and see how your selection changes!

trying to learn how to make Left4Dead mods, specifically a survivor model that I already have a model someone else made, BUT MY LORD im WAILING folks

not only am i back in the hell trenches that is a 3D modelling program (spits thinking about school) but also I cant find any good tutorials for Blender and, Kitten, I'll be honest. ps if anyone has rigged up and put survivor models in l4d2 before I will literally draw you whatever you want, full color and shading, if you can put this fucking model for me on steam workshop. today i spent an absurd amount of time making my wii remote work with windows so i could play fear and hunger with it. and it was worth it

#i'd made wiimotes work with steam before for funnies but it was such a hassle that i swore to never do it again #and then i got fear and hunger. and i was like. it would be SO funny #so i had to #this time getting the wiimote to work with dolphin again afterwards was actually way easier #so i can switch between PC and dolphin now relatively easily :) #i haven't gotten steam to recognize it as a controller yet though i just routed it through joytokey #or at least that's what i did with the other games i tried. but with fear and hunger it just. had controller support? #i tried joytokey and it actually just messed with everything. but i couldn't change the controls ingame #and the default layout was fucked up in the head (in sideways mode 1 was accept and 2 was cancel???) #so i had no choice to connect my nunchuk and use that even though i wanted to use it like the wii does with NES virtual console :( #last time i did this i played hades with wiimote/nunchuk and it actually felt really good #but that was when steam recognized it as a controller and let me remap it like that #when the game is expecting cursor input it's not as smooth #so i really wanna figure out how to get steam to recognize it again #ALTHOUGH that might involve more drivers and make everything a hassle again. so maybe i should just count my blessings #text

i have a love-hate relationship with wireless mice

#i don't draw with a mouse but i use it in tandem with my tablet a lot #some stuff i easier/less strenuous on my hand to do with a mouse than my pen #before this wireless mouse i had one that worked with batteries but it just flat out DIED died which. i guess. #i mean it was like 4 years old so it served me well #but THIS BITCH. THIS BITCH USES A FUCKING /CABLE/ TO CAHRGE #BUT MY COMPUTER. IS A GAMING COMPUTER. SO IT ONLY HAS SO MANY USB PORTS IN GOOD POSITIONS #AND ONE STRAIGHT UP JUSR DOESNT WORK #AND RIGHT NOW THE WORKING ONES ARE BEING USED FOR OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS. i was able to get twilight princess wii version working on the dolphin emulator. it was a little tricky though. certain actions like catching fish required me to map a specific button to do the wiimote wiggles the game wanted. also there were graphical issues that i had to download a mod or something to fix. but. other than that i was able to play it! so theres an option for ya

sadly the issue i always run into isn't gameplay-related, it's usually performance related, since my laptop is roughly from 2007 or so. most games i try to emulate that are within the range of gamecube-ps2 era (and anything beyond) usually run below double digit frames.
