IT seems that exhaustion has finally caught up to her, she notes, sitting in the gold saucer for a much-needed respite. her entire body felt heavy, the very act of sitting up draining her beyond belief. every time she tried to focus on her triple triad deck, setting it up for the next match, she found herself zoning out, eyes glazing over, until she was snapped out of it by one of the many games in the saucer.

it was odd to actually feel tired. caeda had compartmentalized it since she was a child. taking care of moogles took a lot out of you, so you tended to need all the energy you could get. perhaps she really had been running herself ragged with all her duties, but even then she could usually get away with a nap or two.

has the stress caught up to her?

lost in thought, she blinked heavily, and couldn't help herself as she almost drifted off, and immediately sat up when she realized she had actually fallen asleep for a few precious seconds on the person next to her. mortified, caeda stretched and hurriedly scooted away from the miqo'te.

"aha... sorry..."

           “When I was roused from my slumber and told there was one who spotted danger in our territory, I had assumed you to be an Amalj’aa upset with our conditions... but now I see you are no more than an adventurerrr.” He leaps from his perch and lands beside the unknown miqo’te, mouth open just a tad to catch the scent of this new face. He doesn’t recognize them by face and they don’t smell like one of his or any of his enemies. Still, his guard was up. Adventurer or no, this man could still pose a threat to his tribe.

Those worries were put to rest and she got reassured about it. It still didn’t stop her from worrying about it. Regardless, she could only balance on the back on her heels for a moment before returning back to have her feet firmly planted on the ground.

❝No need to thank me. It’s your birthday after all and you deserve every great gifts!❞ And with what Reijiro did for Makoto? It’s also a way to return the kindness.

“you’re... the warrior of light, right?” amaya crosses her arms, tilting her head to one side then to the other. it’s rare for people to come to the part of the shroud that she calls home, mostly because there isn’t much nearby. though recently more and more adventurer have come to her woods in search of some sort of shade, roaming around and scaring people and...

“don’t tell me they sent you to deal with the whole ghost issue. that would be a bit much” no, there has to be another reason, clearly. but in case not, she might as well correct the current situation. “if you are here because of that ghost, I hate to disappoint but there isn’t one, people just see me and run away for whatever reason” it might be the wooden deer like mask at her side that she hasn’t put on for once. it might also be her habit of singing to herself when she thinks she is alone.

ah well. things to consider another time! “if there’s another reason you’re here I might be able to help, I grew up around these parts so I know a couple paths that aren’t on the map”

  The time was drawing near, and Roi feared he would never get the answers me wanted. Perhaps asking Rham’ir was not the greatest idea, but he didn’t want to invite questions from the others. It’s best if they know little about his current situation, what after his near-death still so present on their minds. 

 “It... involves returning to Amarout. If you don’t feel like doing that, I can go alone.” 

 As rare as it is for Roi to ask for help with anything, he would feel better knowing that someone capable like Rham’ir was there. If there was one thing all of this taught him, it was that he needed to learn to rely on others a bit more.

SHE WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE. that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. i think she would rather believe everything will work out okay. it might make the times when it doesn't hurt more, but to her she'd rather maintain that positive outlook.

the only time she thought that there might be a bad ending is [MASSIVE SHB SPOILERS YOU KNOW THE ONE]. i think by that point she'd just. given up. she was tired :(

     as the last stitch is put into place, theldra releases a hiss of air between clenched teeth. she pulls her arm away from rham'ir and rolls her shoulder.

    "i told you, you need not worry about it. it would heal on its own time," she murmurs. "i wish not to burden you with trivial matters, rham'ir."

    unspoken: thank you.

    theldra pokes at the skin around the wound, fueled by the same curiosity that incites one to jab at bruises or worry a split lip.

          A while back there was a hairstyle progression meme going around so I thought I’d do my take on it, but as an official headcanon.

          ABOUT PAGE HAIR DESCRIPTION :   Various shades of pink, primarily in lighter/pastel shades that evoke the color of cherry blossoms. Upon closer look, the shades range from highlights almost as light as white, all the way to lowlights as deep as magenta. It is thick, wavy, and layered, though she has no fringe. Its length and style varies through the events of MSQ. Its length through A Realm Reborn and Heavensward reaches a little below her lower back, and though it doesn't change for the most part between A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, she does begin tying part of it back to better keep it out of her face. By the events of Stormblood, even done up in a ponytail it reaches to her mid-thigh until she ultimately cuts it after the events of patch 4.3 (Under The Moonilight). Once cut, she has a side-swept fringe and the entire length sits just under her chin. She left one lock uncut which she braids and wraps around her head in a headband-like fashion. After the events in the level 77 dungeon, Malikah's Well, Koharu's hair permanently turns white. She maintains its short length until the events of the level 79 trial, Crown of the Immaculate, when her hair rapidly regrows to the length it was prior to cutting it, choosing instead to keep its length.

          PRE-ARR :     This hairstyle is more of a childhood hairstyle; a way it was worn as a teen and young adult who often spent a great deal of time training and needed it out of her face.

          PRE-ARR  & ARR :     Also Koharu’s default hairstyle during her downtime. Although before she arrived in Eorzea she would often keep the ponytail from her younger years (sans fringe; though she cut some of the length before arriving in Eorzea, she had grown out her fringe by this point), for the majority of the MSQ thus far, Koharu has opted to leave her hair unstyled. During the course of ARR, this is primarily because she had entirely lost her will to fight (and only does so with great internal reluctance, and certainly not as her ‘main’ class of samurai) and thus had little reason to keep it bound.

          HEAVENSWARD :     As ARR bled into HW and she regained that fighting spirit she lost, Koharu had already become so accustomed to fighting with unbound hair that she didn’t really think to change it much, opting to simply tie back some of it to impede her vision and mobility less.

          STORMBLOOD :     Stormblood brought the first major change in a good few years. With her return to Doma and the battle for its liberation on the horizon, Koharu decided this was the time to look as ready as she felt. Not only does she don the armor she hadn’t felt worthy of up to this point, with the assistance of the woman she came to consider as a mother figure, she settled on binding most of the thick mane up, not unlike she used to when she was younger, with the Angelica-added flair of wrapping the high ponytail with a braid.

          SHADOWBRINGERS (P.1) :     Towards the end of Stormblood, with Doma freed and the overall conclusion of her major personal arc complete, Koharu decides that this is the perfect time for change. She picks up Dark Knight, trades in her traditional gear for something more Eorzean and, with the assistance of someone she looks to as something of a father figure, cuts her hair. Dramatic haircuts have a lot of various meanings depending on not only circumstance but also social status and gender. In Koharu’s case, her cut, and lack thereof up to this point, is about moving on with her life. With all of her personal loose ends tied and taken care of, it’s about moving on from her past and fully accepting her role as Warrior of Light since, up until this point, she has always prioritized Doma over everything and with Doma on its way to healing its scars the same way she has, she’s free to fully commit (which is saying something, considering how committed she’s already been to this point). Obviously the MSQ has other plans in store for her, so in a more meta perspective, it can also be seen as a physical representation of the shift from her being the Warrior of Light to her becoming the Warrior of Darkness. Essentially, this haircut is a visual representation of the major changes that she has gone through and the ones she’s about to go through. She does leave one lock uncut, however —— the piece she braids and wraps around her head. She’s always been bad at completely letting go so, meta-wise, it’s a little representation of that, but for her it’s a reminder of how far she’s come; a way to both honor and not forget her roots and the progress she’s made as a person.

          SHADOWBRINGERS (P.2) :     Through the events that happen in Shadowbringers, Koharu’s appearance as a whole has many changes, but the most noticeable on first glance is that her hair becomes a stark, almost luminous white and, eventually, even regains its length. Upon its regrowth, however, she decides not to cut it again as a reminder to herself (and perhaps a little bit to the realm at large) precisely what she went through, sacrificed, and was tasked with remembering from the First, instead keeping it bound in a thick braid.
