Only this time their flirty games of chase around the city escalates to some heavy light petting in some tucked away corner, hidden in the shadows

Dick being contentedly distracted with ravaging Jason's neck, hand creeping up beneath Jason's top. Fingers splayed across Jason's abdomen and breathing a laugh when Jason shivers because Jason is wanton and his little gasps are funny with the modulator

Usually Dick is more than content to get Jason off or at least leave him hot and bothered (specifically when Dick is in an ornery teasing sort of mood, but also because Jason whines and it's cute af) before dipping to finish their patrols

Passionate as he is, Dick’s got the self-restraint to wait until after their work is done before taking Jason apart and wrecking him.

Jason loving Dick's steadfast resolve and finding Dick's sense of discipline to be really sexy, but also super frustrating because it's wildly unfair that it's only ever Jason left a breathless mess during their mid-patrol quickies/trysts.

Jason making it his goal to seduce the fuck out of Dick during patrol. Jason wanting to be the reason behind why Dick's ironclad restraint wavers.

Dick catching on to this real quick and it becomes a game between them

Okay, all that got a bit out of order but we'll bring it back around. SO they've got this game going. Jason hasn't managed to win yet, and tbh forgets to try a lot of the time because Dick is overwhelming in these stolen moments of intimacy

And omg, Jason all breathless and quietly gasping and shakily holding a hand over his helmet to stifle himself, but - helmet - so he’s not stifling anything ahhhhhhh and Dick is so tickled by it !!

Anyway, Jason forgetting to seduce Dick into losing control. And of course it's when Jason isn't trying that he succeeds because headcanon: Jason has no game when he tries, but is so alluring when he's just being himself

So they're just there. Hidden away in the shadows somewhere with Jason's knees buckling, breathing hitched as he tries to support himself on the wall behind him. And Dick can feel how flushed Jason is beneath his hands and the brush of his lips; how wrecked Jason gets from some teasing touches and kisses (dark suck marks visible over Jason's high collar; teeth grazing over Jason's skin and the stutter skip of his pulse. Dick's hair being a mess because Jason gets his hand in it to pull Dick closer and ahhhhhh).

And Dick, in that moment, isn't content just to feel and hear how Jason comes undone. He wants to see it. Wants to see the heat across Jason's freckled cheeks and the tears that catch in his lashes; bitten red lips, swollen. Fringe a mess, all sweaty and mused. Dick wants to see how fucked Jason looks, just like this. He wants to see Jason come undone under Dick's hand and how it might be different from when they're in private because Jason is shameless, but not like this - not quiet like Dick (exhibitionist that he is //u///)

But also? Jason being so captivating and bewitching; sexy and gorgeous and cute. Honestly, Dick just wants to kiss him.

So of course Dick goes for the helmet. And he doesn't think anything of it because he's seen Jason do it countless times.

And Jason snaps back to his senses because ohhhh fuck WAIT, hold up STOP wait omg

The intensity of the warning startling Dick, hands flying back because what what what?? Just Dick stood there, hands raised as he backs off, eyes wide

Jason also standing there, still weak in the knees and supported by the wall. Slumping a bit without Dick there to brace him. Hands also raised

And they both stare at each other, thoughts racing

Poor Dick thinking he crossed a line. He shouldn't have assumed Jason had a domino under the helmet--

To which Jason admits he does. Of course he does.

Which, oh. Okay? Dick not getting it. Because they kiss all the time? So it's not like it's a new thing? And kissing seems a lot more innocent than everything else they usually do? Did he do something?? If there's a boundary here he's really not following and--

Jason getting all embarrassed because his own dramatic preparedness just blueballed him, wow. Also-- Dick isn't going to like Jason's explanation

Dick not needing to see beneath the helmet because he knows by the way Jason turns his head away that Jason is some combination of cowed and sheepish

'What?'

'...it's rigged to explode if you take it off like that...'

'What.'

Which leads to a whole thing because Dick could have killed him. Which, ugh, like hell he could have, dramatic ass. Which, another ugh because which of them is a dramatic ass? A helmet rigged to explode if it's taken off wrong!?

It's their first spat as a, well. They're not a couple, but it certainly sort of feels that way as they argue back and forth. Or!! Hear me out -- the fight that leads to them becoming official.

Just Jason bristling because he doesn't know why Dick is so upset about it. It's a reasonable precaution to take.

And Dick is so exasperated because 1) so much can go wrong (so many what ifs and worst case scenarios) and 2) Dick cares about if Jason dies. He doesn't want that!

And look. It was Jason's personal goal/challenge to get to lose control. He succeeds, too. Just not in the way he intended. Because Jason makes the most callous of remarks claiming that Dick would get over it [the loss of him]

Which leads to Dick's expression shuttering in a truly terrifying way. A cold fury that gives way to cruel passion and something wounded. It's Dick shoving Jason back, pinning him to a wall and seething at him, eyes narrowed and teeth bared because: 'I wouldn't. I've tried; I can't.'

He won't do it again.

Jason being blindsided by the intensity and genuine hurt/mourning there. His heart aching because, oh.

Then it's Jason tentatively pulling Dick into a hug and holding him and soft hurt/comforts

I've been rereading abm, since my copy of a&m arrived recently (so gorgeous) and I'm definitely liking the little changes in the updated version.

I keep forgetting how cute and "giggling and kicking your feet"-inducing michael and lucifer's relationship is in part 1 of abm. Just ahhhhhhh they're so cute (gonna pretend that I don't know what happens with their relationship in part 2). Also I keep cheering whenever uriel shows up/is mentioned despite him not doing all that much in part 1 bc agh that backstory really got me good. I'm very excited to read a&m once I finish the reread though! No clue what to expect (*cough cough I did not pay attention in sunday school)

They intentionally go down to cover the middle of her forehead, it's driving me crazy

I know this is probably just a me thing, I can't stand hair touching my face and I wear headbands 24/7, but just seeing her hair makes me wanna fix it for her so it isn't touching her forehead anymore

Her earrings match, which I don't think was a priority but it's amazing anyways, and most of all she's wearing a shirt underneath the protective material, likely for fashion reasons because it really does tie the whole look together

Okay so for this I'm picturing that you and Robin have known each other for a few years through having classes together

You both got to know each other better when you worked in Scoops Ahoy over the summer. You ended up staying on there permanently while Robin and Steve left to work at Family Video but you guys spent time together still and became v good friends

Bc this is an au, there's no stranger things going on so Eddie met Robin through different means: Family Video

He's a regular there for a while and eventually is hired to handle the music side of the store

Him and Robin end up bonding over tormenting Steve and find that while they're v different people they do share things in common

Robin also finds that you and him are both single and, noting common interests and a few similarities in personalities and outlook on life, decides to set you both up

You're the person Robin goes to first because she's known you longer and doesn't want you to feel like you're being pressured into anything

You're a little skeptical at first until she mentions it's Eddie, who she's talked about a few times briefly

You end up suggesting that, if he's up for it, he could hang out with the three of you when you all have a day off

After this, Robin goes to Eddie and brings up the idea. While he wouldn't say he's never dated anyone, he's not had many relationships and none of them had ever been more than high school flings

He's not as skeptical as you were, but he doesn't get his hopes up because he's not really sure what to expect

Robin bribes convinces Steve to drive her, Eddie, and himself over to Scoops Ahoy after they close on Sunday so that they can pick you up outside Starcourt when your shift ends

Poor Eddie is all nerves the entirety of the drive over to Starcourt and barely talks to Robin or Steve because he's panicking internally. What if you don't like him? What if he doesn't like you? What if you're way out of his league? Surely not, right? Robin wouldn't set him up with someone unattainable, right?

I shared my personal doc of it with the proposed ending after Sunny's blog was deleted but all that's in it is the fanfition.net version with some changed names for my own reading experience. Like I used Lukas Bondevik for Norway because sunny used that in the original version and I think I took the names for the siblings from the ao3 rewrite iirc because they're the correct Italian version.

Yeah that's in that, some blog posts of the now deleted @lsunnyc blog and an ao3 snipped I commissioned from sunny. But yeah I did not actually write it sorry for the misunderstanding 🙈. I tried to make it a bit clearer in the post!

Gym Shenanigans

Friendly competition between the four of them that's really just the boys taunting and challenging one another and being motivating in all their dumbness.

And Kory is so fond as she smokes all of them. Scorched earth policy, sorry boys. ;)

But it's all good because the three of them are so (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) because wowie hot damn, look at their girlfriend go.

Dick being the first though and it takes so much coaxing and Dick swears he's got this. Which he does. It's only a few reps, anyhow. Still, the moment Dick presses Jason up, Jason panics and flails and ends up throwing himself out of Dick's hold and landing on his chest and Dick wheezes because oh god. Meanwhile Kory and Roy are !!! because whoops, spotting is a thing and Jason is mortified forever because again, omg.

But Dick just laughs through his wheezing and holds Jason to him before he can run off and Jason is sweet and blushy as he hides in Dick's chest and it's cute.

Speaking of chests - Roy marveling Jason's pecs. Like how you can catch glimpses of it through the low cut of Jason's sleeves. Dick following suit once he notices Roy's staring. And Kory following along not long after and wow, she thinks she understands the infatuation with breasts now. Amazing.

But wait. Dick getting stared at and objectified by other gym goers because he's beautiful handsome gorgeous. And while it's uncomfortable, he deals. Nothing new, right?

Only Jason puffs up and is ready to throw down, just sending the nastiest glares and snarls at men and women alike. He's got Kory right there backing him up too while Roy uses his impressive back to act as a screen and the combination of it all lightens Dick's mood so much and he loves them all dearly. ;U;

Sauna. Where Kory basks in the heat and unintentionally raises the temp until her boys are toasted and she has to drag them out and fan them back to safe temps.

Shower. Where Kory suggests showering together and yeah, sure. Only Jason bails out of embarrassment, maiden at heart that he is.

hello, hello ^^ could i please ask about 'the memory of you' or 'mineshaft' for ffxv of your wips ? i low-key am curious about all of them xD but those titles i named piqued my interest most

The Memory of You, like nemo, is an older fic of mine and one I adore very much. It's about Noctis and Ardyn getting de-aged by a daemon's spell into their 7 and 10 year old selves, and they have to adventure across the country together as kids, from Cleigne all the way to Hammerhead, to reunite with Noctis's friends so that they can help them turn back into adults. The first 3 chapters have already been posted to AO3 here.

It's basically an enemies-to-friends adventure fic, with Ardyn redemption and big canon divergence. Fluffy cute times and angsty hurt times ensue. It's a long, dangerous journey across the country for two adults stuck in their kid bodies. And on the way they not only learn to cooperate but they learn more about each other. Noctis learns that there's more to Ardyn than just his annoying attitude, and Ardyn sees that Noctis isn't just the instrument of his own vengeance.

Noctis feels guilty about the whole thing because getting turned into kids is basically all his fault and so he wants to help Ardyn return to his adult body, and obviously Ardyn needs Noctis alive and as an adult again to exact his revenge, so of course they're both going to try and protect each other along the way. But then looking out for each other turns out to be a bit of a tricky thing because that leads to caring what happens to each other, that leads to worrying about each other.

And I've really come to love the title for this fic because it just fits so well. Ardyn, while he's in his child form, isn't under the influence of the starscourge. So there's less of a madness to him, it's harder to lose himself in the anger and the hatred without the scourge adding fuel to the fire. Of course, as they start to bond through their adventure, Ardyn has to keep reminding himself why he shouldn't care about Noctis, this doppelganger of his little brother. He has to remember that Somnus betrayed him, he has to remember that the gods and the people "betrayed" him, he has to remember that Aera "betrayed" him--but then he also has to remember why those were betrayals in the first place.

It's a mixture of angst and fluffiness, and I love this fic very very much! Pity it ALSO likes to fight with me AHHHHHHH.

Also, I have to shout out this cover of Somnus by Celestial Aeon Project because it's gorgeous and inspires me so much for this fic and it inspired a major scene and I get goose bumps every time and now Somnus's theme recurring through my fic's playlist is super important lol.

Also here's a little snippet (first drafty writing):

Ardyn didn’t doubt Noctis had at least some adequate skills when it came to combat and, to an extent, espionage. He was a Caelum after all, of royal blood, and Ardyn had gathered enough intelligence from Insomnia over the years that he knew how they worked. They would have trained the boy from the moment he was old enough, practically groomed him over the years to become a soldier.

The problem was, he was clearly used to putting a certain amount of energy into a body that was a lot bigger than the one he currently had. The unfortunate outcome was him stumbling along now, clumsy and uncoordinated, eyes screwing up in embarrassment and frustration.

It was terribly amusing.

Ardyn stayed with him, feeling a surprising and genuine curiosity in watching the scene play out. He crouched down with him in the long grass and pressed his palm to the top of Noctis’s head gently, keeping him down. “No sudden movements,” he said, keeping his voice hushed, his eyes forward on the small rabbit in the grass. “It has large ears, remember, it can no doubt hear us already.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Noctis bit out, just as quiet. “I got it.”

“The last several attempts betrays that statement.”

“They were just practice runs.”

Ardyn nodded, humouring him. “Of course.”

They moved forwards together, the grass brushing against them with soft sounds, heads barely peeking out. Ardyn froze at the right time, kept his hand on Noctis’s shoulder and squeezed to indicate for him to stop. He obeyed silently, body tense and ready, waiting on Ardyn’s word.

He glanced down at the boy, and promptly wished he hadn’t.

It was a familiar sight. Far too familiar for his liking. Those memories should have been buried down, lost amongst all the others, but it stood out in his mind now, stark and bright and fresh. He’d taken Somnus out hunting just like this, when he’d been old enough to try. Ardyn had shown him what their father had taught him, had begun and encouraged the spark for hunting Somnus had within him, until he’d no longer needed Ardyn to teach him any longer.

Ardyn clenched his jaw and swallowed the bitter taste in his mouth as he squashed the image down.

Anon Ask Lineup!!

I got SO many gorgeous lurker confirmation asks, and wow I love you guys so much. You're way too sweet to me. Ahhhhhhh.

That being said, a lot of you had questions and I said I wouldn't rb those asks, but there were several overlapping ones anyway, so I'm just going to make one biiiiiiiggggggg post answering questions here!

How long did I lurk? Six years or so? Longer? I knew I loved whump since I was a little tiny kiddo, but didn't know there was a word for it (I feel like this is a common experience lol), and started following hero x villain things (also a common experience) that eventually lead me to the whump community. I didn't make this blog (well, the same url - it used to be a sideblog and it moved but I'm counting it) about two years ago? But I only started making my own content one year ago.

Have I ever regretted making my blog instead of lurking? Since I started this one? No. But there was a time before where I made a side blog (same url) and started making some whumpy gif sets? And I loved it and was having a nice time with no one knowing or following me, but it was immediately picked up by the kink community instead of this one. While I don't have any problem with that, I felt like I wasn't in the right place and that no one was really listening and I was getting sucked in the wrong direction, so I panicked and deleted the blog. Cut lurking again for two years before making this one.

Was I ever ashamed of whump? Um. Yes. Still kind of am (I'm working on it), but I grew up in a very religious household, and I'm an extremely kind and gentle person irl, so it felt like this horrific denial both of my faith and of myself. I read a post a year and a half ago or so that clarified the difference between fiction and reality for whump, and something about it just made the pieces fit together again for me. It wasn't long after that that I got started making my own content.

How I moved from being a reblogger to a creator? There was one prompt list (here) that I just fell in love with and had a few ideas to continue? So I did. And it got SO many more notes than I expected and I just........fell in love with it? I found I have a knack for prompt lists - much more than gif sets. So I started making prompt lists. They got popular pretty quick. Then I was challenged to do Whumptober, and I did. After that, I felt comfortable starting my own series and doing drabbles and I haven't looked back.

How many irl people know about whump/my blog? Four who I didn't meet through this. I've told three friends and my sister - all of whom took it FAR more gracefully than I expected. While whump isn't their thing, they're incredibly supportive and generally confused why I'm so embarrassed about it. Oops-

Is my whump fixation purely whump, kink, or both? Uhmmmmmmmm....I like whump. I like whump in any context. That bleeds into kink as well. I don't post NSFW things here because a lot of my readers are minors and I genuinely don't trust the tagging system to keep their sweet lovely eyes off the abominations I create asdlkf. But if I'm in an 18+ area where people are chatting, I'm more than willing to discuss it or put out ideas/content. I'm getting more comfortable with it by the day (everyone has hurtles to get over in self-acceptance - that's one of mine).

Do I use whump as an outlet for something else? I know a lot of people have turned to whump to process trauma, but that's not my story. I have loved it since forever, and my ptsd isn't something I ever want to encounter in whump. I have those tags blocked so fucking hard, I don't want to be triggered in my safe space (that's just me - everyone processes differently). But. I do find that it greatly eases my anxiety and nightmares. If I go a week or two without writing or consuming something terrifying, my anxiety doesn't really have an outlet? And it bleeds into dreams. I often have very whumpy dreams, but I don't consider them nightmares, they're just lovely. But the nightmares? Nope. Nuh-uh. Don't want. It's a very small part of why I write, but it's a lovely bonus.
