The golden leaves trickled down the boy's neck and flirted across the exposed part of his collarbone. The more Hitoshi observed the more his heart raced.

Danger, his mind whispered.

Fae.

A fae child at that.

“I hoped that you would come,” the boy beamed at him with too white of teeth that had possessed too many points.

“Why?” Hitoshi slowly questioned.

“Because you're like me,” the boy supplied. “And we're destined to be family.”

“Yew berries,” Izuku easily responded. Hitoshi's pout didn't lessen. “You're people call it the fruit of the Graveyard Tree,” he supplied with an almost mocking sweetness. The tone wasn't at Hitoshi's expense but at those silly enough to fall prey to the tree. Izuku didn't let himself be disheartened by the startled breath. Hitoshi had been cunning at their encounter, able to avoid Izuku's queries with ease aplenty and knew of the Fae's lack of lies. He didn't shy but stared at the offering. And Izuku felt his heart flutter at the gentle whisper Hitoshi let out as he uttered: Pay heed of the Graveyard Tree-- Never aging, never dying with branches of inviting shade and flesh red berries-- but the tree is lying Bark of poison, seeds of sleep, its only yearn is to keep. Selfish, seeking, always creeping, growing , knowing, overflowing. Play not near it, keep a distance, for the Graveyard Tree, is ever bearing.

Cursed was very fitting for what Shouta Aizawa was as he watched that look in his son's amethyst eyes.

“Toshi,” Shouta's voice broke as he fell to his knees in front of his son. “Toshi,” was all he could whisper as he pulled his son to his chest.

What had he done to deserve such a life? Why did it take and take and take until there were no pieces left of him save for his limbs? His heart was already handed out to the point of there being nothing, you would have to go to another to get a piece of it.

“Father,” Hitshoi's voice came with a gentleness that made Shouta's breath catch. “They've been waiting for you to come home,” Hitoshi whispered in response as he hugged his father back. “Uncles miss you dearly.”
