Aaaages ago, @sillysillus did a live-write of the Links encountering a Pre-game (... or was it first game?) aged Legend and Hyrule. I always threatened I'd draw it, and Now finally I have done so. Cloud Lore

So here is another short story/drabble, this time i’m dedicating this one to @sillysillus because she is is a big sweetheart, and i wanted to try and give her love! I also look up to her and her writing so I hope I did my best (I also didn’t know which were her favorite links so I kinda went with her kin tags in the discord server whoops)

Mostly fluff? With a bit of hurt/comfort going on? Apparently I’m on a roll

edit: I forgot the effing title! I got over eager I forgot to put the title on it!

“It’s late.  Shouldn’t you be asleep?”

Sky looked up from the piece of wood he was whittling away, hearing Legend call out to him. The sky was dark, moon rising high, but Sky found he could not tire, and gave a flinch with the look Legend was giving him.

“Ah... Well I'm not sure if I can. I just...” He stopped as he looked back down at what he worked upon.

“I don't know why but... something in my mind says to stay up.” Sky could see the doubtful look on Legend's face before he shrugged. Sky took it as a dismissal and began to take his knife, carefully carving away into the desired shape he was working on. So engrossed, he didn't look up at a person stepping up beside him.

“What are you making?” The voice asked. Sky looked up, seeing the soft eyes of Hyrule. He gave the traveling hero a smile and held up the roughly carved statue in progress.

“It's a Loftwing. Well, it will be once I'm done.” He set it down for a moment and reached into his bag, pulling out a few other carvings he made. A few of the bird-like creatures in various poses were there, as well as a Remlit, and an intricate carving of the Goddess statue.

“Wow... these are cool!” Hyrule gasped as he reached out to grab one, but he stopped himself. He gave a sheepish smile and Sky gave a laugh.

“Don't worry! You can look at them in detail.” He reached to hold up the Remlit one for Hyrule, who's fingers danced along the details carved into the simple piece of wood, from the markings he put in to the details of the eyes, the large ears and the fluffy tail.

“Are you going to stay up on watch too, Traveler?” Legend asked, having turned to look at the two of them from his perch at his watch post. Hyrule startled, giving a blush but smiled.

“He's really good though, I couldn't help myself.” Sky felt his face flush at the praise, rubbing the back of his neck.

“I can always do better.”

“I think you can do better by going to sleep.” Legend turned away from them now and turned to walk the perimeter about the camp. Sky frowned at his response and looked to Hyrule.

“I'll be fine. You should go to sleep too.” Hyrule gave him a look before he stepped away, though he glanced back at him,

Sky gave him a reassuring smile and put his finished pieces away, but he lingered on the one of the Goddess Statue. He stared at it, quiet in contemplation, as everyone started to settle down for the night. Finally, he put it away and began to work on his current project, humming softly to himself the same melody that his Zelda sang, the day of the Wing Ceremony.

“O youth, guided by the servant of the Goddess... Unite Earth and Sky... Bring Light to the Land...” He remembered her soft voice singing, and he tried to give his best rendition of her song as he began to carve once again. He continued to quietly sing, finding his heart growing lighter with the memories he had with Zelda in his mind.

“Didn't know you had it in you.” Sky gave a jump in surprise, nearly dropping his carving knife in his lap but held on just in time. He looked up to see Legend was back, everyone else was asleep at this point.

“Had what?” He asked, confused by Legend's statement. He watched the other hero roll his eyes as he came forward.

“Had an ounce of musical talent in you, that's what.” Sky blinked before shrugging.

“A little. I can keep a rhythm and play a bit, but Zelda... she was a better singer than I. So I don't do the song justice like she can.” He gave a soft laugh. “If there was anything that she could do, she could bring your heart soaring in the sky with her song. It was... magical, to be honest.”

Legend just continued to look at him, expression unreadable, before he finally shrugged.

“I think you're over tired at this rate, Chosen. You are starting to sound Love Sick.” Sky gave a laugh, unable to help himself.

“Maybe I am. But I would rather think of the good and all that was around her than reminice on the bad things that happened. It keeps me going, knowing that I have someone to continue looking out for.” He carefully sheathed the knife though and put it and the carving he was working on into his pack, wiping off his pants.

“Do you have anyone like that?” Sky asked, curious to know if Legend may have someone in his life to look forward too. Legend looked stricken by that, and a hard look appeared on his face.

“No, and I don't think I will need to.” He stomped away, leaving Sky bewildered, but he didn't go after him. He sighed as he stood up, knowing he would have to pass by the other to his own bedroll. The camp was quiet, and as Sky came up, he paused. Reaching down, he put his hand on Legend's shoulder and held it.

“You've always got us. If nothing else, you have us to look forward to.” He ddin't get a response, and Sky left it at that. Just as he turned away, he felt his Sailcloth be tugged. He turned and Legend held the edge. For a moment, Sky could see the well of emotions that Legend hid under the icy wall he kept up, and he could see that he hurt. He was hurt so deep he only knew how to close himself off from the Light of anything again.

It was silent for the moment, before Sky said nothing else and sat beside Legend. He brought an arm up, bringing his soft Sailcloth up with him, and put his arm over Legend's shoulders.

“You're not alone anymore.” Sky would be tired come morning and Legend's eyes would be red, but anything he could do to help bring Legend closer to feeling again, to let him find peace in his heart.

He really cared for them all. They were all they had at this moment.

Half-Assed Squiggle Dump!

I'm currently working on a personal art project. It's my first attempt at doing one of these, so it's been a tough and confusing journey.

Since it's been a while i posted anything, i'm dumping some random doodles that really don't deserve to be seen in the light of day... so im posting them at night. XD
