The Ruined King, Happy Ending
Tumblr media
Pairing: Felix x Liz
Summary: Hawkeye is once again moving through Gedonelune, and it looks like their aim is on the heart of the Dragonkin Ruins. It looks like we’ll need the help of the three Reciters to solve this mystery!
Previous: Chapter 12
First: Chapter 1
Credit to @nitia95 for the inspiration for the cgs this chapter!
And soon, we were back on campus, standing in the Headmaster's office.
"The trip to Veda was a success,” Felix reported, holding out the stone. “As you can see, we have obtained the gem of darkness.”
“While keeping the gem of light safe!” Lacan flashed his gem.
“And I have taken back the gem of fire,” I said.
"Unfortunately, Hawkeye still has their hands on the Earth Crystal," Willem said. "It's still unclear how we'd get it back."
“You've obtained three of the six gems,” Randolph said gently. “As long as they are kept safe, Hawkeye cannot awaken the Dragon of Time. Good work.”
Even with his gentle praise, I still felt nervous. 'This isn't over yet. Who knows what Hawkeye will try to do next?'
"In the coming weeks, there will be a grand ball at the royal palace," Schuyler said. "It might be a good chance to meet with the nobles and ask about the gems."
"A ball?" I had attended parties with Albert or with Klaus, but this would be completely different. But the image wouldn't leave my mind. Wearing a beautiful gown, descending a grand staircase, dancing with Felix at my side.. It wouldn't be so bad. "That sounds like it could be," I caught myself, "a good opportunity."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ah," Zeus grinned as we left the Headmaster's office, "a mission success! I say that this calls for a party!"
Caesar laughed. "Sounds fun to me! Count me in!"
"What about you three?" Zeus asked.
"Not for me, thank you," Felix said. "I think I'd prefer a quiet night at home.”
Willem and Lacan agreed. “Maybe we can play some board games, like old times.”
Felix turned to me. “You can join us, if you like.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Willem and Felix had already cleared a space in the living room when we came in. We settled down around the board, and I felt a familiar presence at my side. "Do you mind if I sit with you?"
"N-no, not at all." He settled down right next to me, so close that I could feel his warmth next to me. But truth be told, it didn't feel.. bad.
'To think that I'd get to spend time with him like this now..' The thought made me want to giggle. 'Well, we did confess to each other.'
"So," Lacan said cheerfully as he got the pieces together, "who confessed first?"
"H-huh?" My face went red.
"Well, it's obvious that something happened between you, and well, Felix has been-" Felix gave him a look, "ah, if you don't want to.."
"Felix confessed to me, actually," I said. "When we were in the mines." Felix's arm wrapped around me. "Everything just kind of happened."
"Ah, congratulations! You make a lovely couple!" Lacan said cheerfully.
"You really do." I bowed my head, but I couldn't hide my smile.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We played for a while, going over various games.
“Felix, there's something I should tell you,” Lacan said as he settled down. “When we were in the cloning facility, I didn't.. flee right away. There was something I had to check. Cordelia touched the machine, and I..”
“Lacan! You'd risk so much for that?”
“What? I don't understand, what about the machines?”
Felix sighed. “..The machines can only read human Dna,” he said. “Even a little non-human dna would throw off the machines and be unable to create a clone. Otherwise, my plans back then would have turned out versy different.”
Oh. “Then, you wanted to see if Cordelia was a Dragonkin?” Lacan nodded.
"So?" Felix fixed his gaze on Lacan. Even if he said he didn't care about it, I could sense hesitation in his voice.
"She's human," Lacan said. "Completely." Felix let out a sigh of relief. "But there was something else that I noticed when I was reading the machines-" He leaned over to whisper something in Felix's ear. "..You noticed it too, didn't you?"
"..I see."
"Hmm? What are you talking about?" And I remembered something. Back when we had been in the caverns, how many shadows had I seen? I had seen clones of Lucious and Caesar, Alfonse and Zeus, but there was one missing. "..Felix, do you think-"
"I'm not sure," he said, meeting my eyes. "But.. even if he is, I doubt that would be something that he wants to hear from me."
"There must be.. a thousand other reasons why it wouldn't be able to read his dna," I said at last. For all I knew, it could have fallen under complications of time traveling.
"I'm sure."
We played late into the night until I could barely keep my eyes open.
"I think that I should be getting home," I said, gathering my things.
"I'll walk you out," Felix said, following me out the door.
We lingered at the door. It would feel strange going back to my dorm. Even something as mundane as playing board games, I had had so much fun with him. I didn't want to leave.
"I had a wonderful time tonight," I said, turning to face him. "Thank you for having me over."
"Thank you for coming." He looked at me seriously. "Liz, there is.. someplace that I've been wanting to go. The next time you have a free day, will you come with me?"
"Of course. I have a free day tomorrow, actually, if you want." He nodded.
"Liz." I looked up, and he seemed.. unexpectedly bashful, shifting his feet. He placed a gentle kiss on my cheek. He pulled away with a sweet smile. "See you tomorrow."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I felt like I was walking on air, back to the dorms, humming all the while. So much so that I almost missed a familiar presence behind me.
“You shouldn't feel complacent. This battle is far from done.”
I spun around. Sure enough, there he was. Vain. “I was wondering when you'd show yourself. Are you planning to fight Felix again?”
“I will not take him from you,” he said coolly. “Not while a new threat is on the rise.”
“Have you been chasing Hawkeye on your own?” I asked. “If you had told us, we could have worked together-”
“I do not need your help,” he said. “Hawkeye will use trickery to get what they desire; it's better not to be open with them.” That was right. They had tricked us into destroying the ruin- and then had attacked me to get the gem.
“Vain, you.. followed us into the Crystal Cavern, didn't you?” His expression was unreadable. “Were you the one who caused that rockslide?”
"It was by chance that you and Felix ended up on the opposite side of that wall. If my plan had worked, no one would have been able to access the gem. Human or Dragonkin.”
I stopped the question on my tongue. 'Your magic shouldn't have worked.' I knew that he wouldn't have answered me anyway. He never did.
"You must be careful. There are many more members of Hawkeye still lingering out there, lying in wait. They won't be stopped because you've stopped one of their number."
And just like that, he was gone, leaving me to wonder.
********
Two figures moved in the shadows, in a place that had once been a temple.
"You failed your mission. The gem of fire was right there, and it slipped through your fingers."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"You're lucky that I was there to rescue you from that rockslide, Dahlia," the other said. "But I won't give another chance. You better not fail me next time."
"I won't."
*******
Felix was already waiting for me by the time I arrived in the village, Shu in tow. He smiled as he saw me.
"I hope that you don't mind that I'm bringing Shu."
"Not at all." He reached out, scratching under the little dragon's chin. "I think he'd like it."
"So, where are we headed?"
He was quiet for a moment. "..I want to go back to the Castle in the Sky. I haven't visited since we awakened Lacan, and even then it was only briefly. But something's been telling me it's important that I go back; if it's all right with you, I'd like you to come with me."
Oh. Of course. I knew how many memories the castle had held for him. Once upon a time, it had been his home- and then it had served as his prison. But I knew that seeing it would be painful for him. "Of course I'll go with you."
He smiled, more nervous than he let on. "Thank you."
“Will you be able to transport the three of us by yourself?”
“I should be able to,” he said. “Besides, the gem of darkness has increased my magic some.” The magical circle glowed at his feet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And just like that, we were back, in the Castle in the Sky. Shu chirped happily, flapping his wings as he flew through the air.
Felix hesitated as he walked forward. "..It's different then what I remember." He looked up at the castle, seeing it again for the first time with fresh eyes, seeing the place that once been his home, looking deeply at the crumbling walls, at what was left of the garden. "Has.. it always been like this?"
"We can turn back, if you want. You don't have to do this."
"No. I want to." He gave a bitter smile as he took my hand. "It'll be just like exploring another ruin, won't it?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was strange to be walking through the castle again, down the dark hallways. I half-expected to see a ghoul or a ghost jumping at me at every turn, but it was just me, Felix, and Shu walking down the halls.
Felix's eyes seemed to light up as we walked through the rooms, showing me each place within the halls.
He took me to a room with wide open arches; a long table stretched through the halls.  "Is this the dining hall? I thought that Dragonkin didn't need to eat."
"Some of them chose to indulge in it. But this is also where we'd feed the magical creatures," he said, smiling sweetly. "I used to prepare food for dragons in here." He walked into the kitchen. "I think that we've still got some treats for dragons in here." He stopped, looking bashful. "I doubt Shu would want them though, they're probably.. really old by now."
"And here is the training hall," he said. "This is where we'd train all the little Dragonkins." If I tried, I could picture them all lining up, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
He turned around, observing the room. "..You know, this is the place where I met Willem and Lacan." He walked through the room, his eyes distant. "All of us would gather in here for lessons, to learn about our magic. I was so eager to show off my magic, when it came to my turn. I created a huge blob of magic- and.. put it right through the wall."
He walked up to the wall; I could see scorch marks on it. "Just as I thought, they're still there. All back from where I was learning how to train my magic. I made quite a mess of it, back then."
I couldn't help but smile at the image. 'He must have been so adorable..'
"I can still remember. There were still stars swirling around my head when a young boy with silver hair ran up to me, a dark-haired child following him. 'Woah!' he said. 'That was the coolest thing I've ever seen! Can you show me how to do that?'" He laughed, sweet and clear as a bell.
'That sounds like a wonderful memory.'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wondered what else I would find if I continued down these halls. A thousand memories around every corner, years and years of lives lived within these walls.
He stopped short before a door, suddenly apprehensive. "Hmm? Is everything all right?"
"This room.. We should turn back.”
“What is it?”
“It's just.. this is my room."
Oh. Oh. Well, this was kind of awkward. And I blurted out, "Well, we could go in there if you want."
"Are you sure?" I nodded. He pushed open the door.
The room was small, painted in pale green. There was a small bed, a little chair, and a bookcase stuffed with books, their titles long since worn away. But the window caught my attention, big and open, facing the garden. A cool breeze filled the room.
"I would sit here and read and listen to the magical creatures outside," he said, walking  over to the window. "Sometimes they would come into the room and play with me."
"That sounds like so much fun!"
He gazed out the window, his back turned to me. "This castle used to be a place of such beauty," he said. "Gentle creatures that could be found nowhere else in the world. A place full of life and laughter. And then it.. became a living tomb.
“In my despair, I saw it as a weapon and destruction, something I could break apart and use against the humans who had wronged me. As angry as I was at Cordelia for destroying the ruins, I destroyed my own home, a place that had been so precious to us.
"And then hope became such a fragile thing, something that could be taken away from me in an instant. Even as I grew closer to you, I became afraid. Even someone so powerful could be taken from me in an instant.
"But now.. now I feel like I can see a new light. After so long of living in the dark, I feel like I can dream of a new future."
He turned to me, new determination in his eyes. "I've decided what I want now, Liz. One day, I want to revive the Dragonkin; I want to bring back the creatures that lived in this castle. Like with Lacan, I will find a peaceful way."
I wanted to stay by his side. I wanted to help him achieve his dream, no matter what. “I'll help you! I'll be there every step of the way!”
"Really? I mean, of course." But he smiled brilliantly. "Thank you."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warm light streamed into the room as I slowly cracked open my eyes. I saw Felix asleep on the pillow next to me.
'That's right.' We had stayed up all night, laughing and talking and sharing jokes, until we had both practically collapsed.
I gazed at his face; it was rare to see him sleeping, but he looked strangely.. peaceful, unburdened by all his worries. He looked sweet and innocent. I felt my heart racing at the sight.
Tumblr media
'It's still amazing to think I get to wake up to this. That I get to wake up to the man I love..'
"Hmm?" His eyes cracked open. He smiled and leaned in, giving me a gentle kiss. "Good morning."
Tumblr media
"Good morning."
He wrapped his arms around me. "I love you, Liz."
"I love you too."
I felt like I could stay in this moment forever, in the arms of the man that I loved.
And suddenly, I heard a beautiful voice, clear as crystal, from outside the window. "Do you hear that? It must be Shu singing.”
I slowly got up, peeking out the window. And my heart raced at the sight. "Felix, come look at this!"
"What is it?" His jaw dropped as he looked out the window.
Shu was standing in the garden, singing happily. But several small creatures were dancing around him, floating and giggling in the breeze.
"Wind cats!" Felix cried. "They're wind cats! I thought that they had gone extinct during the war, but they've come back to the castle!" He laughed sweetly. "I can't believe this!"
"I've never seen them before," I said, leaning out the window.
"Here, let's go see them! I'll tell you all about them!"
And the years would pass us by, working towards a new end, our new dream.
"And that is why a wind cat can fly on the breeze!"
The little children, Dragonkin and humans alike, gathered around me, staring in wonder at the windcats floating around my head.
"They're so pretty! Can I play with them?" The children danced around, chasing after the windcats.
"I see the lessons are going well." I looked over to see my beloved husband standing in the courtyard, smiling as we watched them. He wrapped his arms around me, giving me a peck on the lips.  I don't think I'd ever get used to it, even all these years later.
"How are Willem and Lacan?"
"They're setting up for their own classes, I think. More students than ever to train this year.”
“Well, I'm done for the day,” I said. “While they're teaching, we could go for a walk.”
We walked through the garden together, hand in hand, laughing and sharing memories. Beloved friends called out to us as we walked by.
"I never thought I'd be able to have this," he said as we walked. "Living so long in the dark- I thought I would stay there forever. But thanks to you, I can live in the sun once more. I can never thank you enough."
"Of course, my dear."
He kissed me, soft and sweet. "I love you, Liz. Forever and always."
And I heard a lovely voice singing, one that still enchanted me all of these years later. "Listen! Shu is singing!"
And far below, in the distance, I could hear a voice joining in harmony- the song of the Dragon of Time.

an endeavor with flowers
Maria goes off to buy flowers for Eliza, realizing she’s allergic to flowers and has to find a solution in order to not sneeze all over them until she reaches Eliza’s place. Lots of awkward contact ensues
Credit to @cresiendo for giving me the prompt idea and motivation to write! This also got super out of hand, so expect... the unexpected. The characters have a 6-year age difference. ( i really don’t know what happened during the writing process )
( ft. Marliza after the affair in modern au )
Warnings: as usual, it falls between pg 13 and r-rated, also I barely edit expect a shit ton of mistakes
What a whore
Back off my boy, bitch
Evil seductress, broke up such a nice healthy relationship
Burn in hell, succubus
Maria passed under the doorway of the Home Depot, determined to get in and out without fleeing to the nearest bathroom to sob out her issues. It had been a almost a fortnight since the Reynolds Pamphlet had been published on Facebook by stupid fucking asshole named Alexander Hamilton.
Gritting her teeth as she got nasty stares from people like old women to teenage boys, her heels slapped the messy cement floor. Honestly, she should have just gone to some fancy bouquet store to by it but she was low on money anyway.
Being poor had so many frickin setbacks for her, like maybe forcing herself to have the worse sex ever with Hamilton in order to get the cash in for her former abusive husband.
Maria Lewis muttered all sorts of old sayings her da taught her when she was old enough to speak. They usually calmed her down whenever she was having a flurry of emotions hit her mind at once. It was too hard for her to walk anywhere in public without the scornful remarks or horrendous catcalls. But she guessed it was her fault for bringing a married man to bed with his “dubious consent”.
At times like these, Maria wished she had a phone on her so she could google the meanings of flowers that would spell forgiveness for causing quite an astonishing affair at her own expense.
Regardless of exactly who borne the affair, she still felt heavily guilty about it. After all, she ruined the relationship of a very beautiful woman with an extremely adorable child. Maria shut yo gay ass and get some randomass flowers that prolly mean “ go die with a bra on your head “.
Loathing the looks the store clerks gave Maria as she wandered the aisles, she gave the flower section a series of violent sneezes. Also itching herself a little. Not exactly the best public image if you want to redeem yourself after ruining a marriage.
“ That bitch needs to shut it. Like she’s here to ruin my day too.” Maria heard this about a few aisles down from her standpoint. That was completely unecessary to say, giving that he didn’t suffer from allergies and was overall being immature. Maria decided to cover her nose with the top of her shirt.
Snatching an armful of flowers that were labeled as “Dahlia” and “ Ambrosia” and all sorts of nice looking ones, she briskly walked toward the checkout counter with an old lady manning it.
“Who’s the lucky one, young lass?” The elderly woman questioned with a funny expression. Maria sputtered, trying to say they were for forgiveness but being the socially awkward bean she was, it just looked like she was highly embarrassed for being called out.
“Ah, young love. I hope your boyfriend is a grateful man!” Okay not only does her and everyone else grumbling impatiently behind me think that is I am buying love flowers, but also think I’m straight. Oh god.
Fleeing the garden center, Maria slowed down when she spotted a roll of duct tape as well as large pieces of cloth. As a terrible idea flooded her thoughts, she let out a pelting of sneezes, nearly dropping the wrapped flowers on the ground. Gripping the supplies, she quietly sneaked into an empty corner of the store and proceeded through her horrible idea.
About 15 minutes later, the short girl was stumbling down the street, occasionally sniffing in a sliver of pollen and attempting to hold back a dozen sneezes.
People gave her odd and generally confused looks, but this was New York so weird things happened all the time. Maria hardly had the time to regret her actions anytime soon, as her eyes reddened from constant contact with the flowers. At least the tape contraption was holding up fairly well, perhaps because of the heavy duty duct tape.
Maria hoped she could get it out, otherwise life just got worse for her. (somehow)
The good thing is that everyone bustling around didn’t recognize her and if they did, were in too much of a rush to mock her. She yelped as a biker nearly ran her over. Maria was aware of the fact that the Hamiltons lived somewhere in Harlem and wasn’t too far away from where she lived.
A taxi driver yelled something at her, possibly in a different language though. She finally reached a quieter area where Maria saw the prettiest woman ever gardening in the front.
She started shaking a little, the memories of where Alexander Hamilton fucked her over and over again coming back to her. Seeing a cheery face coming up to the door through  window as she fled the cursed bathroom in a hurry as to not be caught.
Be brave Maria, just ring the doorbell once she gets inside and finishes her stuff and immediately burst into an apology and hope she forgives you. Simple as that.
Swallowing a bundle of nerves, Maria struggled to tear off her mask while scrunching up her face as she sneezed voraciously.
She neve thought flower allergies could be so goddammed annoying. Bundling up her nerves, Maria stepped up to the entrance of the house. She was extremely jittery, having to wait 10 minutes before even trying to walk up to the house.
Maria took in a breath to rap her hand on the door. It was opened instantanously, a shocked looked on the taller woman that turned to confusion as her gaze fell upon the handful of flowers that rested on her arms. Maria looked down a little, embarrassed by Hamilton’s wife examining her physique. Don’t get distracted Maria, don’t do it.
“Why are you here? And have you gotten the wrong address, because I know you are not here to give me love flowers." Maria was even more flustered now. Shit part one of brilliant apologetic plan, nononono, why can't I do anything simple. If this were a different occasion, then maybe Maria would have loved giving Eliza Schuyler-Hamilton flowers, but she was too busy making an oh shit face and attempting to speak English .
" Oh. Oh, uh, um, oh my goodness, I-I-I am so sorry, I'm not a flower expert, I just wanted , uh, give you these flowers because I'm sorry???" Poor Maria was standing there, sneezing and wiping her sleeve over her nose, looking quite helpless indeed.
" I'm really sorry, I, er, didn't know that these flowers meant anything, I just-" she stopped saying anything, for fear of sounding ridiculously stupid. Eliza's mildy aggressive expression turned soft and amused and held out her hand. Is she expecting me to hold it or something?
" It's alright! Here, I'll take the flowers and you can come inside and get comfy on the couch while I make tea, 'kay? If you'd like some of courrse." Maria, a little stunned by her statement, nodded rapidly.
Sniffing profusely as she shuffled into Eliza’s house, she could barely stop herself from gaping at everything. It was just so nicely decorated. The wall had floral designs on it, the couches and futons were a nice beige color. On the wall hung some glass flower arrangement. The smell of tea from the kitchen wafted into the living room. This house was definitely nicer than her dinky apartment.
There was also a mahogany shelf on the wall, presenting a series of photo frames with what seemed to be Eliza’s friends and son. There wasn’t any if Alexander’s face on there, but considering what just happened it made sense.
Maria fiddled with the hem of her shirt, acting fairly skittish. Her eyes bounced around the living room as Eliza Hamilton marched into the room with two cups of green tea. Maria also noticed how she had put the flowers in a pretty vase on the kitchen counter.
“ I’m letting you in because I’m actually quite curious as to why you decided to show up on my doorstep uninvited. And the fact that I know that Alexander forced you into this. I know him too well to think that you’re some ‘evil seductress’ that lures men into their beds.”Eliza looked at her with inquis  eyes, Maria stared at the ground, her hand shaking and found the carpet to be very interesting.
“ Well, I-I, my husband was doing me wrong. He would- he would beat me until I complied with his orders, and so when James heard that, uh, Alexander Hamilton would be alone for the week-” she suddenly broke off, choking on her words. Eliza stood up from her place and sat next to Maria, clasping her hands with one of the other girl’s. Eliza only guessed she paused was because she was gazing intently at Eliza’s face. The younger girl noticed this, and her face blushed furiously.
“ You don’t have to tell everything. Just know that I’ve forgiven you and you’re welcome to come here anytime.”
“ W-wait really? You can’t possibly forgive me that easily. No man or woman has ever showed me much kindness before.”
“ How can a handsome lady like you never have? Does any show you any of their sympathies? Eliza asked, looking a little confused but her brain wandered into some dirtier thoughts. Maria reddened at the compliment.
“ Since he published the article, I’ve filed a divorce with my husband and no one really cares for me except to mock me. Maybe staying with James had not been, well, the greater thing ever but at least i lived somewhat comfortably.”
“ Men who treat their wives like your to-be ex-husband does to you should be cut out of your life immediately. And if your really struggling, you can room at my place. I kicked Alex out and we share Philip. You can have the guest room.”
Why is she so generous? What if there’s a catch with this? What if she’s only doing this to pity me, make her image look better? Eliza might be moving fast with these things, but Maria wouldn’t mind sleeping in the same house with her. At least she wasn’t giving her Hamilton’s room. She is so kind, so nice, so pretty.
Eliza had moved closer to Maria now. They were touching and her arm had snaked around her waist. The latter was a red, blushing mess, being so close to someone who seemed to genuinely care for her, It was a thankful change to James Reynolds.
“ I know you’re being so amazingly kind, but, how much do you really care about me?” Maria asked in a small voice. She was usually suspicious about these types of situations now the she had experience. She stared deep into Eliza’s big eyes.
Eliza was grappling with the problem that the girl she was currently ogling at was quite a nice soul to be with. Also very attractive. They sat in uncomfortable silence for a while. Maria continued to toy with her shirt. Eliza’s eyes slid down to her chest. Realizing what she was doing, she finally admitted to turning crimson. Both of them had their hearts racing, breaths become heavier.
“ Well, I can show you how much I care, if that’s fine with you?” she nodded and Eliza cupped her hands on either side of Maria’s face.
“ Aren’t you technically-” her sentence was cut off with soft lips pressing against her own lips. Her eyes shot up in surprise, and then slowly closed them to melt into the kiss. Maria wrapped her arms around Eliza’s waist, feeling even more heat rising inside of her.
They eventually broke apart, unwilling to stare at the other in their eyes. Not being able to handle the sexual tension between them, Eliza moved forward again and smashed her mouth into Maria’s. The other woman gasped into Eliza lips, encouraging the latter to nip at Maria’s bottom lip. The kiss became much more passionate than the first one, Eliza creeping a hand up her shirt, making circles with her thumb as it reached further. Maria trembled at the touch, whimpering at it.
“ Is this fine with you?” Eliza removed her lips to speak into Maria’s ear. Shaking a ‘yes’, Eliza took the opportunity to push her back into the couch. She kissed Maria again, but Maria turned the tables on her by prodding her tongue around the entrance of her lips. Granting permission, Maria swirled her tongue around Eliza’s mouth, listening to the quiet moaning.
Eliza suddenly got up and and hopped off the couch. She had a confused look on her face.
“ Do you, uh, really want to do it here?”
“ Bedroom then?” Eliza was not expecting that answer, but she shouldn’t have been shocked considering how turned on and aroused they both were.
Maria grabbed her hand, led her to the bedroom (of course she knew where it was) and closed the door. Instead of nudging them to Eliza’s bed, Maria shoved her against the wall and stood a little taller to kiss her. Eliza was barely able to register the impact of it all, and curled her arms underneath the shorter one’s arms. She moved her mouth to Eliza’s neck, pecking soft kisses around it.
Her nose breathed on a spot right beneath her ear and Eliza tense up very noticeably. Eliza could feel her grinning as she sucked on it, high-pitched gasps escaping her mouth. Her grip on Maria tightened, most likely to leave bruises on her. Maria continued to minister her kisses until she was completely breathless.
“ So did the super allergic to flowers person really bring me love flowers as an apology or for this?” Maria turned scarlet and buried her face into the crook of Eliza’s neck. Eliza sighed, knowing how Maria seemed especially skeptical of people but apparently was quite comfy with Eliza now.
“ I told you, I don’t know anything about flowers. Uh, can we go to your sheets now?”
Eliza snickered at the question. They leaped into bed, and when Maria tried to take off her clothes, Eliza used her hands to press her against her own body, which was below Maria’s. She looked quite bewildered.
“ Sorry, but not today. I think we should take it slow, y’know. Just, maybe a little touching and kissing here and there.” Eliza felt ashamed to say that, but it just made a lot of sense to her. Take it easy.
“ O-oh, I’m sorry! I came here to apologize and then, well, this happened. I can leave if you want.”
“ No, please, just, stay? Cuddle, maybe?” Maria nodded, liking that idea very much. She tried to roll of onto Eliza’s side, but her hands were firmly attached to her. She sighed, resting her face onto her chest. They weren’t very large, but it was nice at the same time.
Eliza lifted Maria’s face up, kissing her slowly. They ended up just cuddling and pecking each other, occasionally fondling the other’s chest. Honestly, things were just moving pretty fast, but Maria wouldn’t wanted any other way.

The Long Goodbye…
It was time…
He wasn’t ready, although he thought he would be…
Boys, get your scarves, Dahlia and I are going to take you on a stroll through Central Park, and then we are taking a trip together to visit someone special to you that you haven’t met yet. Saying “special” cut like a heated knife through his heart, but it would not take away from the fact that he is someone special to them, as he was to their mother… another bitter fact that Sam had come to accept. It had taken him time, but he knew that brooding over the fact wouldn’t change a single ounce of the truth that had burned in his mind and heart for some time now.
He had given him time to adjust to his request for his sons, but would that time ever be enough? No way that it could ever be. Although they were not his biological sons, they had made him the man he was today. For if they had not been born, he would never have found it within himself to care more about his own life… It had been their births that grounded him. Watching the pain ripping through Alina as she so bravely pushed each one into the waiting hands of a very proud father, eventually cutting their cords after the desired time she’d ask them to wait… the last moments they would be totally dependent on her alone for their survival finally showed Sam exactly what he had been taking for granted.
Looking back on it made things bittersweet. How could the best memories of his life be stained with untruth? But he wouldn’t allow any deception to taint his relationship with his boys, until they could no longer reside with him he would give them his all. So, today would start their long goodbye… Mini trips to fun locations and a walk down memory lane, ending in the very place he’d discovered his wife in the arms of none other than their true father.
Sighing, Dahlia takes his hand and pulls him into a tight hug. “We will get through this, Sam. It won’t be easy, but we will. This doesn’t truly have to be goodbye. I don’t see that you could be kept out of their lives after raising them to be such fine young boys. Their brilliance and love of life is all because of you. Yes, Alina had her share in giving them love early on, but after… Well, love, that was all you!” He bends and rests his chin atop her head, steadying his anxiety in her firm hold of him. She always did have a way of calming the worst storms brewing within him. “Let’s go, we have a lot of activities ahead of us, and our boys are anxious… “
Once at the park, the boys inquired about every scientific thing that they could think of, from the color change in the leaves, to the contrasting landscape, to why they seemed to react differently to the cool weather… Dahlia had on a wool trench, while Sam just had a knit sweater and scarf thrown over his neck and shoulders, but a thin turtleneck was the only protection against the chilling breeze. The boys both had on their fleece lined jackets with hats, scarves and gloves.
It was fascinating to listen to Dahlia explain the body’s mechanisms for regulating body temperature, the boys eagerly giving their own examples, missing the heated looks between the two adults whose bodies were joined at the sides, arms wrapped around each other like anchors to keep them both from losing themselves in these moments… How would their days be without the energy and life the boys brought throughout their days?
Thoughts were broken as they came across a cart vendor selling the most alluring scented hot drinks and pastries. Answering before the boys’ excitement could settle enough to ask, they followed the boys at a much slower pace to the smiling older gentleman who was reciprocating the smiles plastered on the boys’ faces. As they animatedly discussed which sweets would be best and to see if they could get away with more than one, Dahlia held a quick conversation with Sam which ended in a sweet kiss caught by the boys just as it was ending. “Eewwww, more kissing!”
“That’s what love looks like, young men, now… what can I get for you?” This man reminded them of Carter once they gave a closer look, but maybe it was just his gentle nature that made them think of him. “Well boys, since we grossed you out just now, I’m sure you won’t want anything but a hot drink, right?” Sam teased them, knowing that they’d plead for more and it would divert them from witnessing their mature actions. As they protested, Dahlia nudged Sam to give in just this once and let them have their pick of things to their delight. After drinks and goodies were purchased, their walk continued until they reached the pond and park benches.
“Your dad and I will sit here while you two explore this area in front of us, but stay in sight, okay.” The boys head straight for the carousel, and once on, chase each other around it until they find just the right spot. As the carousel turns, intermittently waving and calling out to the boys, Dahlia turns to Sam with puzzlement over his distant expression. “Do we get to discuss more about this? I still don’t know who this mysterious father could even be.”
He finally turns to look at her with tearful eyes. “I know it’s asking a lot, but I don’t think it’s something that I can discuss right now. I just want to fully enjoy the remainder of our days together as a complete family. I will explain more on the last leg of our vacation. I am, however, anxious to meet your sister! Is she anything like you?”
“Way to deflect from unwanted conversation, mister… but, not so much. Riley and I are two very different people. Although, she did marry my brother-in-law not truly knowing anything about him… That is similar to us, but I knew a lot about you… You just didn’t see that knowing everything about me would change things. But to add more, Riley carried a lot of the responsibility for me. Our parents traveled for work and were hardly ever present in my life. My Grandma Addie was my lifeline… but after she passed on, it was pretty much Riley. I went off to college at an early age, and Riley eventually went off to medical school but left to pursue “anything different” to quote her directly. She was pretty much a professional student, but our grandmother always told us that you can’t ever have too many degrees behind your name. Life played out a lot differently for me, but I do have my Master’s in Chemistry, Bachelors in Biochemistry and Psychology.”
Sam barely heard much of what Dahlia was saying, eyes flicking between her and the carousel, taking in how excited and carefree the twins were. This had never been his childhood, groomed from an early age to be in the public eye, from his grandfather’s prominent status to his father’s need to surpass the image of his father. He couldn’t help reliving the day of their birth, changing their diapers for the first time when handling them both on his own… a bet he’d made with confidence to his wife that he could handle the task alone and with precision, but two blowouts proved otherwise. He didn’t think something so small could hold so much, but they did, and it was like a competition brewing between them already, or their first ever prank. His memory of dropping them off for their first day of school brings a smile to his face, but is quickly interrupted by the boys’ screaming as they played tag after having gotten off the carousel and playfully raced back towards the two of them.
Standing, he reaches for her hand with a sad smile which causes her to pause, but she offers him her hand. Pulling her into him for a tight hug, he kisses just behind her ear as he whispers, “I love you, you know that?” As she leans to try to guess his mood, he kisses her on the lips quickly before taking her hands and kissing them before interlacing their fingers together so that they could continue their evening of fun. Each feels Mickey and Mason slide up against their exposed sides, simultaneously ruffling their hair as the boys protest, “Where to next, Dahlia?” She looks at Sam and says, “You boys up to pillaging and plundering a castle?”
“There’s a real castle?”
“Yes, in the center of Central Park. We have to fight off other pirates as we climb to the top. We’ll need to get to the lookout to search for the potential locations the treasure has been buried. Race you there!”
“Ugh, dad! Dahlia’s too fast! Catch her!” He can’t help falling into the feeling of family and gives chase, hearing the boys yell, “faster, faster, she is getting away!” Gaining on her quickly with his long strides, he catches her at the waist and spins her around. As he begins to lower her to the ground, the boys join in hugging her waist and laughing, “You’re fast, but not faster than dad!”
“Yeah, duh!!! Do you see those long legs! That’s why I needed the headstart! But… since you don’t know the way, my little admirals, you’ll just have to stay close and follow me!” His heart pangs with knowing these are the final moments with his family in this way. He is so thankful that Dahlia is taking charge of this adventure in his stead because he is slowly crumbling inside and fighting hard not to fall weak in front of the boys.
How had he taken them for granted all of this time … allowing their grandparents the better part of their time? Arm draped around her shoulder, he quietly thanks her for all that she is doing today and he shows his gratitude later when they are alone, kissing the top of her head. She isn’t used to seeing Sam in such a vulnerable state and begins to worry about him. She won’t probe him further about it now, just keep the boys occupied to give him this bit of instant relief.
Finally making it to the top spiral of the castle’s tower, they make a dramatic scene of spotting creatures and pirate ships sailing towards them in the icy lake below. “We can’t let them get our treasure, Admiral Mason!” “No chance of that, Admiral Mickey! We have Dahlia and dad to fight them off for us!” Sam makes a display of suiting up in armor and weaponry as Dahlia fires shots from the imaginary cannons and yells back for Sam to man the bow chaser. Brandishing his cutlass, he screams out pirate jargon and then throws grenades as he runs to the cannon to finally sink the closest ships. Celebrating in triumph, they all perform a signature dance move and fall down in a fit of laughter.
Once hydrated, they move on throughout Central Park, making their way back towards Hyland Planetarium, the place where Dahlia had taken them on her first attempt at babysitting them for Sam. This would be another painful moment, unable to be hidden. “Dad, why are you so sad?”
Both boys rush to take a hand, somberly gazing up into his eyes awaiting some response.

Sam pulls them into a tight side hug, reassuring them that he isn’t sad (a blatant understatement, but a little white lie told to not dampen their moods), but just remembering their happiest moments together (not a lie, but a mask for what he truly feels). As they make their way to their preferred row of seating, the lights begin to lower. After calling out as many of the ones they recognized in competition, the boys noticed a new set they had never seen before, a mirror image representing identical twins. Sam had arranged for the boys to have their own constellations named after them, so that no matter where they were in the world, as long as they were looking up at the starry night sky, there would always be a constant reminder of how much he loved them even though they may be apart.
“Wow, dad! You really had them named after us?”
“I sure did! I even bought you an advanced telescope so that you can help to discover more… even if they can’t be documented, you boys can have the pleasure of writing your own worlds in the stars above.” Dahlia leaned in close as Sam lifted his arm for her to cuddle into him.The tears in her eyes were apparent, but the boys didn’t catch on due to their excitement of air tracing their very own constellations. Dahlia remembers the exact evening Sam discussed the idea with his mother when they visited her for dinner, and slowly the pieces begin to stitch together. This is what had motivated all of these unexpected yet sentimental acts from Sam.
Vivian had discussed having their ceiling mimic this exact view with Liam, and he’d agreed to have the renovations completed by the time of their arrival. She made sure that he knew the things the boys were accustomed to and had already begun shipping things unable to be found in Cordonia out of her need to have some control in this unfortunate situation. Liam was beyond grateful for every bit of information he had been privy to because this was already going to be a major change… one, not even he could be sure that Riley or Cordonia would be openly receptive to.
One last car ride with Carter… this time, both sit up front, after a dare made by Mickey that Mason wouldn’t be able to convince Sam to allow this to ever happen, and if by some rare chance he did, he would stop teasing him about the bedwetting prank he’d pulled on him, never mentioning it again to anyone. He’d teased Mason long and hard over this, making sure to tell anyone that would listen to his comedic rantings, so there was no way that Mason wouldn’t give this a try. To Mickey’s disbelief, all Mason had to do was ask and Sam gave in with a gentle smile, rustling his curls saying, “Just this once!”
His strength had completely faltered, and there was no way that he would be able to thwart the onslaught of questions the boys would have given on the journey home. They wouldn’t continue to believe that he was the nostalgic father he’d previously explained their prior concerns away with. The moment the town car began its designated route to the airport, Sam sank down into Dahlia’s lap, his head heavy and eyes brimming with the unshed tears he had been willing away the entire day.
As she gently stroked his beard, she softly pleaded for him to talk to her. Knowing the details may allow her to comfort him better, but he delays the conversation by planting kisses on her inner thigh through her clothing, moving to place a kiss on her mound before easing his way up to kiss her with such a needy force that she abandons any and all conversation. Unfastening the button with a mere hook of his finger and quickly dragging the zipper down, he buries his face in her crotch, teasing her clit as his hands squeeze her thighs… slowly dragging her forward to allow him better access.
“Sam, I love the way you feel right now, but what about the partition?” Only stopping to lean backward to lock the window access to the back of the town car, he turns and eyes her with such adoration in his eyes that she feels her wetness increasing.
It will take at least an hour to reach the private hanger, where Sam’s plane has been prepped for him to take his family up for the first leg of their air travel. He’s never taken the boys up but feels that this would be the perfect way to ease them into the much longer flight ahead of them. What better way to show his boys how cool their dad is? Their dad…
Desperately needing to get out of his head, he gave her only one instruction, “Don’t make a sound!” The roughness in his kiss suffocated any spurning her mind insisted upon knowing that the boys could potentially hear or see her intimate behavior, soft whispers and cries escaping her. When Sam desired comfort in this way, she knew that whatever was grating on his mind would unravel through the most intense touch he could offer her, and she could barely contain her anxiety to absorb every ounce of feeling that he would pour into her.
He thought that this was finally smothering the feeling of abandonment that haunted him, but her repetitive whisper, “Oh, baby!”, would remind him of the words that escaped Alina’s mouth as he held her, nestled in his lap with each new baby boy held secure in her arms as he firmly surrounded hers… “Oh baby, look how peaceful and beautiful they are!” The push and pull between reality and memory almost proved to be overwhelming, but he would soon remedy this.
Taking her faster would cause her words to falter, only allowing room for her to attempt catching her breath while moaning her elation, but this would only set him back to square one, answering questions he wanted to avoid. Lapping the remnants remaining of her first orgasm, he unbuttons his shirt, hurriedly ripping it from his torso just before leaning back on his knees to unbuckle his belt.
Dahlia is already upright on her knees in front of him, unzipping his pants and freeing his pulsing erection, straddling it before he’s even removed the belt completely. A pointless idea now abandoned, he steadies her thighs in his grip as she grinds on him, kissing him with as much passionate energy as she felt coursing through her just moments ago. She feels so damned good taking him as he sits idle, enjoying the feel of her using him to bring a climax and hard release that has her trembling around him, embracing him as she pants so heavily that syncope is near.
Sam is still so conflicted in his heart that his release is stunted each time he is on the brink. Only taking complete control will allow him to escape everything consuming him. Dahlia has no recovery time. Sam lifts her and crawls forward pinning her sideways on the seat as he drives into her hard and fast at first, but slows to give him more time. Both watch as he slowly sheaths himself fully within her, withdrawing at the same pace but lifting upward to intensify the feel of him against her clenching walls.
Stretching her each time as his excitement floods into a near-painful hardness, he finally knows that the time has come to empty all thoughts as he forces himself into her not pulling away any longer but pushing with a deep grind that has her clawing and gripping his arms as he hovers close to her. The buildup to their release becomes so powerful there’s a tightness in his chest and he is almost unable to breathe. One arm holds her tightly against him just below her shoulder blades as his other hand cups her ass, lifting her into his deep strokes, whispering for her to get ready, he’s about to flood her.
She holds tightly around his neck as his grind forces her upward, burying her head until she feels she may scream. “Kiss me, Sam!” He can’t have her talking loudly or screaming. She audibly pouts at his withdrawal, her body now torturously aching to be filled. Unable to protest because Sam repositions and fills her mouth instead, “Take it!” He stretches over her and begins to kiss and suck her orgasm from her as she does him, both grinding wildly against each other’s faces.
Release !!!  Finally, a delicious release drowned in barely audible hissing and shivering moans… “Mmmmhm, Sam!!” It takes everything within him to remain silent, but he has to maintain this restraint… The boys can’t know why he so freely agreed to Mason’s request, although this wasn’t necessarily the primary reason. Lazily readjusting themselves and their clothing, “Talk later?” Yawning, her only reply, “Mmmm…” Reaching into the console to retrieve a light fragranced cologne bottle, he squirts a few sprays onto their clothing to mask their adult activities before relaxing back into the seat and holding Dahlia against him as they await arrival at the hanger.
Was this long goodbye truly the best idea? Sure, it gives him more time, but it would still come to an end with the same result… letting go… How the hell was he supposed to do this?

‘Hamilton’ in a Word: Finally (San Francisco Magazine):
[. . .] For the Donica sisters, who flew out from Indiana for the show, the night was even more special: They were there to see Kelly’s son, Jordan, onstage in the dual role of the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. “It’s just…I can’t,” said Kelly, who was seeing her son in a touring Broadway show for the first time. “It’s surreal.”
Others couldn’t claim such a close connection to the show, although the emotional attachments were just as strong. Avery Jules, a fourth-grader from Moraga, came to the show with her grandmother decked out in her own Alexander Hamilton outfit, complete with knee-length topcoat and stockings. Jules was also carrying a program she’d had autographed by the entire cast of the show’s Chicago stop—her family had flown out to see it there as well. (Her mother is a superfan, too, she says.) “But my brother actually doesn’t like the show that much,” she says.
[. . .]
Dahlia Kapelk, a sixth-grader from Alameda, was among the kids who knew each song by heart. Kapelk caught a lucky break and nabbed a ticket through her friend Audrey Jonas, whose family scored their golden tickets through the Girl Scouts. “I’ll try not to sing along too loudly,” she said, citing “Wait for It” as her favorite song.
I asked another youngster, Claire Alonso, 13, which song she was most excited for. Alonso was there with her mother, grandmother, and grandfather. They’d scored tickets at the last minute, when SHN, unannounced, released an extra cache of seats. Alonso considered her options momentarily. “I couldn’t choose,” she said. “But my favorite Schuyler sister”—the trio of female leads, who play Hamilton’s lovers—“is Angelica, so maybe her song, ‘Satisfied.’”
“That’s all they listen to,” Alonso’s mother, Kelly, said of her daughter and her friends. “I think I’m most excited to see [Claire]. I’m excited to see her reaction.” Grandpa Doug chimed in: “She’s been trying to come to this ever since we knew it was coming to San Francisco.”
[. . .]
By the end of the night, it seemed likely that the sky-high expectations had been met, somehow. Patrons poured out onto Market Street and into the BART station, still smiling and humming their songs, as stragglers including Ted Carter and his family posed for last-minute snaps with the gold and black posters.
Carter, wearing a red crushed-velvet suit jacket, was astonished. “The way they tell the story and make it so real and so present and relevant—and the themes of government and people making decisions—kind of reflects on today,” he said. Earlier in the day, before our three-hour suspension of reality, news was dominated by Congress’s delaying a vote on a new healthcare plan that would undo much of the Affordable Care Act—a backdrop that wasn’t lost on Carter, of San Ramon. “There was a line where [Hamilton] says, ‘They don’t have any ideas; they just don’t like mine.’ That really rang true. Just incredible.”
