Cobalt meets 99:
99 wondered down the halls of Kamino, night had fallen awhile ago but he often liked to make sure no troublesome cadets were messing around.
When he reached the clone commando training area he heard a noise from outside.
Peeking in he saw a young cadet who looked about four shooting targets with a training blaster, there was no supervisor so he'd obviously snuck in.
99 couldn't help but notice that this clone has some incredible reflexes and agility even for a commando.
What he did next however shocked 99 most of all.
While fighting one droid he particular he stuck out a hand and FORCE PUSHED it into several of it fellows.
99 actually couldn't speak for shock for several seconds but after he regained his composure he decided to tell the cadet he'd been caught.
99 walked into the room just to make sure the cadet would definitely hear him.
"It's well past your bedtime little one." 99 said sternly.
The cadet jumped as though he'd received a massive electric shock and 99 was quite thankful those blasters didn't have live rounds.
99 walked a bit closer to the cadet with a gentle smile.
"What are you doing up so late little brother?" 99 asked gently.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to get some extra training in." The cadet rambled.
"Well I'm proud of you for showing extra commitment, but you shouldn't be up this late, you'll end up tired during your training the next day and without a supervisor you could have gotten seriously hurt." 99 said sternly.
"Yes sir, I'm sorry sir." The cadet mumbled staring at his feet.
99 and the cadet walked out the room and 99 shut off the power and closed the door.
99 then knelt down to the cadet's level.
99 then noticed something else, instead of the normal brown this cadet's eyes were a dark shade of blue, but they shone brighter than anything 99 had ever seen.
"I saw your ability back there by the way." 99 said.
The cadet was instantly scared.
"You aren't going to tell them are you, not even my supervisor knows about it." He said fearfully.
"Of course not, I'm a defective clone myself, my entire squad are." 99 said.
"Really." The cadet asked in wonder.
"Yes, maybe I'll introduce you to them soon." 99 said.
"That would be so cool." The cadet said in awe.
"I'm 99 by the way." 99 said introducing himself.
"It's really nice to meet you 99." The cadet said.
"And what's your name little one?" 99 asked.
"CC-1043." The cadet replied.
99 frowned, that hadn't been the awnser he'd been hoping for.
"No, not your number little one, I mean what is your name, your name?" 99 asked.
The kid frowned.
"I don't have one yet, my batchmates do, they're trying to help me find mine." The cadet said.
99 thought for a minute, he then looked at the cadet's eyes, they were a very dark blue, almost like...
99 grinned getting an Idea.
"How about Cobalt, how does that sound?" 99 asked
The cadet thought about it for a moment before grinning.
"Yeah, I like the sound of that." He said eagerly.
"Well then, it's very nice to meet you Cobalt." 99 said.
"And it's very nice to meet you as well 99." Cobalt said.
Cobalt then let out an adorable yawn.
99 smiled picked up the young cadet with ease.
"Come on Cobalt, I'd better get you back to your batchmates." 99 said.
"Okay m'm tired." Cobalt mumbled yawning again and rubbing his eyes as he snuggled closer into 99's arms.
At some point during the walk back Cobalt fell asleep in 99's arms, but 99 was fine with this, the young cadet was evidently exhausted by the all the training he'd been doing and needed as much sleep as he could get, besides 99 couldn't help but find it adorable.
99 couldn't help but notice the similarities between Cobalt and another cadet he knew, there were definitely some differences but also a lot of similarities.
He made a mental note to check something when he had the time.
Cobalt gave a low moan shifting slightly and 99 shifted him more comfortably in his arms and Cobalt relaxed a few soft snores escaping from his lips.
"You're a sleepy one aren't you." 99 said chuckling softly at the cute moment.
He got to a set of barracks and a trio of commando cadets came over.
They seemed to be at least seven.
"I assume you're his batchmates." 99 said.
"Yes sir, I'm Blastbolt." The oldest cadet said.
"I'm Gunfire." Another cadet said.
"And I'm Bluestreak." The third said.
99 then gently handed Cobalt over to Blastbolt, Cobalt mumbled and shifted slightly in Blastbolt's arms at the change in handlers but got comfortable and fell right back asleep.
"Thank you, take good care of Cobalt ." 99 said.
"Cobalt?" Blastbolt asked confused.
"Oh yes, his name is now Cobalt." 99 told them.
"I must say it suits him very well." Gunfire said.
"Yeah, it certainly does." Bluestreak said.
"Yeah, because his eyes are cobalt blue, how come we didn't think of that." Gunfire grumbled.
"Come on you guys let's get back to sleep, thanks for bringing him back 99." Blastbolt said.
"No problem Blastbolt." 99 said.
Cobalt's batchmates disappeared carrying the deeply asleep Cobalt and 99 chuckled and started to head back to his own barracks wondering how a few friends of his would react to meeting Cobalt.

Honestly I kinda wished we could get a version where crosshair and mayday make it. Like they successfully flee together and scanavge through the galaxy for a little time with Crosshair not being ready to go back to his brothers just yet and then the Batch run into Crosshair and Mayday by accident while being yet again backup for Phee or something and the scene goes basically like
The batch:😶 ...
Crosshair:😶 ...
Mayday :😃... look other clones who are on the run just like us
And Hunter is ready to equally through hands and hug crosshair and them all being a bit suspicious why Crosshair not only hangs around a Reg but also genuinely likes him
Tech be like: crosshair has made a friend? That never happened before

I hate The X Files.
Tumblr media
This show is about an incredibly intelligent, capable young career woman whose superiors decide to scuttle her career by making her spend years babysitting the mentally unstable man in the basement.
She is forced to be his primary carer, is repeatedly kidnapped and assaulted, her body is repeatedly violated, and she spends every day running after and covering up for the mentally unstable man, trying to get him not to do incredibly crazy and illegal things. Why? Because her stupid bosses hold HER accountable and threaten HER career when HE does anything they don't like.
Tumblr media
And, oh yeah, they paid Gillian pennies compared to Duchovny, and they even tried to offer her HALF of his salary for the latest revival even though SHE was, by far, the more powerful actor by this point, with more awards and more lead roles. Because they are sexist arseholes who never valued Gillian.
Gillian was too good for this damned show. Scully was too good for this damned show. I have an excel sheet of every horrible thing they did to her, episode by episode.
I hate everything about this show except Gillian Anderson.
I gift to you my X Files Scully Bingo Card.
Tumblr media
Next time you watch this awful show, see how many of these categories get filled up. Because most of the episodes have a lot of this.

so all of the fic where the GAR and Coruscant Guard don't get along because the GAR thinks Coruscant is a cushy gig and the Guard are in Literal Hell are
so fucking chefkiss
like it is a trope i will DEVOUR, i will unhinge my jaw and swallow that shit whole
but
what about an inverse?
what about a Guard that's the protecting soldier meme except real?
troopers on leave on Coruscant finally feel like they can relax from the war because they know the Guard has their back, and everyone knows that if you need a hand or an ear or a hug you can ask any Guard* and they are always the most patient helpful big brother types ever, they will listen and they will help and they will protecc
(*sole exception: fox**, who shoulders all of the pain and rage and condenses it into a tiny supernova of fury in his chest that he shoves down into a locked box of emotions, and one day he'll die
**except also very much including fox, who rages and rails and might throttle you for being an idiot but he'll also absolutely gut any aggressive natborn that even breathes in your direction)
so they still might think that Coruscant's a cakewalk compared to the frontlines but they're glad that they have brothers protecting the homefront too, they're glad that at least SOME of them can stay gentle and kind and at peace
of course then palpatine and the sith and all the corruption in the senate are exposed
(because TCW canon is for COWARDS and people who like being SAD)
and the GAR realizes all the shit that the Corries went through, all the ostracization and threats and abuse and pain
and it just
made them kind

把死人给带回来? 难道...?!
// If They Are Bringing Back the Dead...
This post contains spoilers for Chapter 184.1 of To Your Eternity.
It also contains speculations galore. This is NOT a meta essay.
Shoutout to my homie branetheory in Discord!
Thanks to them, I was reminded of what Parts of My Brain had wanted to talk about:
Tumblr media
Bruh. I can't believe ToFu made me so high last night that I forgot to talk about this.
Honestly I regret nothing Okay, memory water.
Tumblr media
A little Kafka Aside: I'm gonna have to consciously ignore how... not-there the scientific backing for this is. Honestly, this Memory Water thing reminded me of the New Age/Pseudoscientific idea of "water memory" or Masaru Emoto's "water consciousness" thing or DNA teleportation. However, this is a story where weirder shits have happened, so suspension of disbelief willingly and gleefully granted. I just need to get this out of my head first.
To reiterate, Kaibara's experimental procedure involves
Extracting cells from a person's body
"Turn" it into water (how?)
Make a "clone" drink it (who?)
-----------------------------------------------------
Who could these clones be?
The only clones we know so far are the Mizuha clones. Their existence seems to imply a similar purpose to Hayase's descendants—they are supposed to inherit Hayase's Will, which is 95% "get injected with a tumor we call the Left Hand Nokker."
But Nokkers have long become invisible and fully integrated into this ecosystem. In the Future Era, they are embedded in tag chips, and they grant the bodies they possess all sorts of abilities and augmentations.
What would an inheritance of Hayase's Will even look like here? At first, I thought it would be similar: a tag chip with the Left Hand in it. Mizuha's, uh, possession (for the lack of a better word) manifested through the same mechanism other Nokkers used, after all.
However, the story gradually told us that the clones had all been massacred via an unknown operation for yet-untold reasons. Why would they do that?
Were these clones failures?
If they were failures, then it would make sense why Kaibara treated them as disposable; after all, in the past, the Guardians always exalted Hayase's Descendant(s) no matter how incompetent they were at their mission. Failure to secure Fushi's seeds I mean love never made them disposable enough to be killed, right?
So, as branetheory (crediting my homie even though they might not see this ahahhahah) also thought—
Could it be that Hayase herself has been successfully reincarnated in the body of one of these clones? (8)
I assigned this hypothesis an 8, or "80% confidence level."
Is she who you're gonna see, Bon?
Tumblr media
Why would Kaibara need so many Mizuha clones in the first place? They only need one Descendant. They only have one Left-Hand Nokker...
Unless these clones were made specifically for bringing back Hayase. They were all experiments. Few experiments ever go right at the first trial. But this? Experiments this challenging and important as "recreating our legendary progenitor, Hayase?"
It will definitely require a lot of trial and error. So these clones were made to be expendables.
Honestly, who would name their offspring with numbers if they weren't meant to be seen as expendables?
----
There is an interesting point to note: Memory Water only works if one has a Nokker implanted in them. Remember how Abel can't drink it and instantly know the answers to their stupid-ass questions?
So do all clones have Nokkers implanted in them? They all own a tag chip, after all. But there is only one Left Hand Nokker, and that bitch seems deadset on possessing only Hayase's appointed heir (or in this case, Hayase herself).
Does that mean
all the clones have their own Nokkers, but none of it is the Left Hand, until the Experiment? (3) OR
all the clones have empty tag chips until the Experiment, in which the Left Hand Nokker is then implanted inside before the subject drinks the Memory Water? (6) OR
other hypotheses I could not think of at the moment? (1)
------------------------------------------
Doro and Her Sisters: Were They Trying To Stage a Rebellion Against Kaibara's Highest Echelon? (7)
Assigned (7); "70% confidence level"
Tumblr media
Could this scene actually depict a failed experimental result, where #32/Doro was the subject? After all, she didn't look like she died in a massacre. She looked like she died alone, leaving her sisters behind..
Doro liaisoned with Fushi in secret. So secretly, Tonari didn't know it happened.
Why would she do that? Way back then, me and the Discord gang had speculated some sort of clash between Doro and the rest of Kaibara. At that time, I think our speculation was that it had to do with the Wish-granting Orb specifically.
But now, with this new information in mind...
Could it be that the liaison was part of the clones' planned rebellion? (6)
Assigned 6; "60% confidence level."
It could be that, in addition to passing vital information about Kaibara to Fushi (who is still not exactly forthcoming about what they know so far), Doro was also trying to ensure that the Wish-granting Orb will never fall into the Highest Echelon's hands.
Was her conviction formed out of concerns about what Kaibara might do with the orb?
Or was her reasoning more pragmatic—she didn't want Kaibara to have the power to crush her rebellion?
----
Back to the number-as-naming convention. What if these weren't names, but the assigned turn of each clone for the ultimate experiment (6)? If that's the case, then Doro is the 32nd experiment that failed.
That's a lot. And the fact that she failed would mean the experiment will keep going. The clones will keep being bred to be used for these experiments. It's a conflict ripe for seeds of rebellion, right?
And so, there are extra hypotheses as to why the clones were massacred in the first place:
Hayase has been successfully reincarnated (8)
The clones' rebellion plan has been found out (7)
Hayase has been successfully reincarnated AND the clones' rebellion plan has been found out (5.6; 8/10×7/10)
----------------------------------------
Dolly's Purpose(s)
While Doll's original purpose might have been for amusement and fun—Doro rescued it from some trash heap and just engineered it to be a playmate—I had always found its ability to dish out powerful punches suspicious. Why would a playmate be good at granting people concussions in the first place?!
And it was good enough to take out mercenaries, right?
I'm quite confident that Doll's punch is a defensive ability to guard whatever's stored in its memory (9).
I should review what Previous Me had speculated:
Doll holds Doro's brainwaves or consciousness
Doll holds the Left Hand Nokker within it
Doll is a combination of Doro's consciousness/brainwaves and its original AI
There is also the speculation that Doll is the Wish-granting Orb itself, but I think the confidence level for that hypothesis has gone pretty low... at least to me, personally. It sits at less than 10%.
Now, I want to add new hypotheses and rearrange them from most confident to least:
Doll's memories include Kaibara's top secret: key infrastructures, their real master(s), their experiments, whatever information they have gained about the Wish-granting Orb, their master plan to counter Fushi, and the like. Things that could give rebelling clones an edge. (8)
Doll holds Doro's brainwaves/consciousness integrated within its original AI (7)
Doll holds Doro's brainwaves/consciousness AND it is Doro's consciousness/memories that possess knowledge of Kaibara's top secret (5.6; 8/10×7/10)
Doll holds the Left Hand Nokker (less than 2)
The first (and by extension, the third) hypothesis can be supplemented by the fact that Kaibara really wants the Doll. Why, if not because the Doll holds vital information regarding the entire company?
They could go after it for Doro's consciousness, sure, but the priority would drop a lot more, wouldn't it? ...Unless the third hypothesis is true!
The second hypothesis can be partially supplemented by Abel's dedication to possessing the Doll; he really cherished Doro, and to him, the Doll could lead him to her again. He also claimed that Doro "is still alive," though when pressed, he gave no evidence.
Was it wistful thinking, or could he have been privy to Doro's experiment to transfer her consciousness into Doll? Did he really know nothing about Doro's death?
There is also the "Now I am human" line Doro uttered while blindfolded. Given we now know what the clones are used for, Doro might see her existence to be inhuman/subhuman because of her real purpose. Maybe, to her, she could feel more human by being a doll than in her human body.
Hell, who knows? Doro might secretly envy Abel's humanness—a guy who was likely born from normal copulation and couldn't fit in with the rest of the Tagged society, yet all the more a genuine human being than the rest of them.
-----------------------------------
What is the nature of Doll's Brainwaves?
Could it have been a digital transfer, or could it have used a similar mechanism to the Memory Water?
----------------------------------
Miscellaneous Implications of Memory Water Bringing Back the Dead
Bruh I swear if they reincarnated the Nameless Boy to torment Fushi I will fucking sever my friendship with Left Hand Nokker and nuke their Paradise. Oh hi Left Hand, nothing over here.
----------------------------------
And that concludes my hypotheses round-up, updated to only Chapter 184.1. Remember! Y'all are always welcome to reblog and add your own thoughts to it!
Fuck, I will be so honored if y'all Fushi-fied my writing by adding absolutely anything.
Thank you for reading my ramble. Rest assured, I have prepared just the right image for the moment I clown myself by having most of my hypotheses come out spectacularly falsified:

Dying Isn't Very Regulation: Chapter 13
Tumblr media
Being stuck in tunnels this long is for the birds anyways.
(Or, a self-indulgent 5 9 16?? chapter fic inspired by Snapback by @toomanyteefs with Fives and Ninety-Nine, because I have emotions about this, they deserves the world, and the narrative has officially run away with me!)
Fives felt a stab of appreciation for his brother and the Batch. He had been sure that they would consider him a liability after his first night together with them, when the other regs tried to sneak up on them all for a glimpse of Fives’s face. The entire situation had been humiliating, from the undeserved hero-worship that felt more like mockery than anything to the fact that the squad of morons had intruded on the Batch’s little nook in the tunnels at all. But instead, the Bad Batch had become incredibly protective in the aftermath, closing ranks around him instead of against him.
He suspected Ninety-Nine had been involved in that decision, but didn’t dare ask. If the Batch was protective over Fives, it was nothing compared to how they treated Ninety-Nine, like he was made of glass and any wrong move could tear him away again.
With Echo currently pressed against his shoulder, though, there wasn’t much room for Fives to talk. When Rex decided to head off the rumors himself and confirm Fives’s return, Echo had offered to go with him, and to his surprise, so had Hunter. Since then, the strange looks and whispers had grown rare, and they always ceased the moment any of the Batch looked their way.
Fives didn’t think too much about what they must have said to accomplish that so thoroughly. He was just glad he wasn’t required to be paraded around, fielding uncomfortable questions he really didn’t have the answer to anyways.
“If at any point you feel you don’t want to stay here, you know I can arrange for you to return to the ship, for whatever reason,” Mereel reminded them, pulling Fives from his thoughts.
“Rex might still need us.”
“We’re staying.”
“I know,” Mereel said with a slightly exasperated shake of his head. “But in case you change your mind -”
Ninety-Nine suddenly gasped and the whole Batch drew weapons. Hunter braced an arm over Ninety-Nine’s chest to hold him back as the others assumed ready stances, and Fives found himself automatically doing the same, one hand dropped onto Ninety-Nine’s shoulder. For a brief second he locked eyes with Hunter in mutual concern, but Ninety-Nine looked at them with confusion in his sparkling eyes. His mouth was hanging open, half a piece of haar’shun bread held loosely in one hand as he gestured towards… A pigeon.

Movie night:
On Kamino the bad batch were excited, they and 99 would be having a movie night in their barracks.
The movie has been picked, a new one called "bullet train" and the batch were just waiting for 99 to arrive.
"When's bluir gonna get here?" Cobalt asked slightly impatiently.
The batch all groaned internally, this was the third time Cobalt had asked that in the last five minutes.
"He'll get here when he gets here Cobby, you just have to give him time." Hunter said trying to calm the inpatient 7 year old.
"I hope he's here soon, this is gonna be so much fun." Cobalt said bouncing on his toes slightly in excitement.
Only a couple of minutes later 99 came in holding a box in his hands which he set down on the couch before turning to the five eager faces looking at him.
"Hello boys." 99 said smiling at them.
"Bluir." The batch all cheered running at him.
99 fell back on the couch laughing as the five cadets all hugged him.
"I see you boys are excited." 99 said chuckling as the boys released him and sat down on either side of him.
"Yeah, so excited." Wrecker said nodding eagerly.
"Cobalt's been nagging our ears off for the last five minutes." Crosshair said.
"Well excuse me for being excited." Cobalt said holding his hands up defensively.
"Ok boys let's calm down." 99 said before the pair could start arguing.
"Sorry." Crosshair and Cobalt apologized.
"Alright, now let's sit down and enjoy our movie." 99 said.
With that the batch all sat down next to 99, Cobalt, Tech and Crosshair on his right and Hunter and Wrecker on his left.
99 handed out the candy between the batch and started the movie.
The batch quickly got into the movie, but no one enjoyed it more than Tech and Cobalt, Tech because it involved jets as well as some of the technical tips on flying them, and Cobalt because he thought Maverick was an awesome pilot and he wanted to be like that when he was older.
About halfway through the movie Cobalt spoke up.
"Bluir I need the bathroom." Cobalt said.
"Me too." Tech said.
"Okay go on then." 99 said pausing the movie.
The two nodded and headed to the bathroom.
Hunter checked the supply of snacks.
"We could do with a couple more drinks bluir, shall I go and top then up?" Hunter asked.
"Good Idea Hunter, Wrecker could you please help him?" 99 asked looking at Wrecker.
"Okey dokey bluir." Wrecker said giving 99 a playful salute.
Not long later Tech and Cobalt came back from the bathroom and Hunter and Wrecker returned with drinks.
When they sat down 99 unpaused the movie.
After a while the movie had ended and 99 turned off the TV.
He looked down when he heard a tiny yawn and couldn't help but smile.
The batch were all sleepy eyed and curled up close to 99 looking ready to fall asleep there.
One by one 99 carried each member of the batch to their bed and tucked them in.
He then kissed them all goodnight on each of their foreheads.
By the time he got to the door and looked back all five cadets were fast asleep.
"Sweet dreams boys." 99 said before turning off the lights and leaving them to sleep.

the romance/relationship system in bg3 is genuinely some of the worst designed shit i've ever seen in any game with that feature but at least the memes we get out of it are funny. once saw someone comment something along the lines of 'patch note: waving at gale will no longer cause him to buy a house for the two of you to retire in' and i've never recovered since
#i love gale he doesn't deserve (most of) the incel slander#but it's painfully such a good riff because it really really does feel like that#the player choices being a b/w alternation between 'hey there' and 'YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF... NOW!' normally is already comical as is#the fact that it carries over into interactions with the party members who you're presumably trying to be close with is... something else#and what makes it worse is it ISN'T jokey hyperbole. anyone remember 'send a mental image of you kissing him or HIS HEAD ON A PIKE.' c'mon#trying to chat and vibe at the refugee camp celebration and the sum of conversation i get is one (1) line asking how they're doing#because going any further than that elicits marking you down for the path of boning take it or leave it#it's genuinely so hard to get to feel like you can deepen a relationship with the characters in ways that aren't trying to pursue them#yes! halsin! i really want to know you better! i just don't want the ass!! why is trying to hit the only option other than up and leaving!!#99% of the time i expect nothing from media creators in terms of writing interactive relationships#larian are beyond parody in that they've somehow managed to do worse than the already suboptimal majority#we're just going to impose the roadblock of do you want to fuck y/n right off the bat. good luck finding a way to talk around that if not#the obscuration surrounding where exactly the checks are really does not help at all either#when the shit's got even the allos complaining about it you know it's BAD#shame because i was excited for character scenes given that's a lot of what's hyped up about the game#but no it's all just the romances. 'what if i'd like to breathe in someone's general direction-' well now have you heard of our romances?#fish fear them party members fear them and tav is going to have to walk alone on this sinful earth#conservative bigoted relative at the family reunion withers era was a fucking time before they tweaked that line speaking of#just so crazy they can get away with this shit#baldur's gate 3#bg3 liveblog
