WASHINGTON — Upon returning from his brief diplomatic trip to the Middle East, President Joe Biden urged the nation Thursday not to let dangerous online rhetoric humanize Palestinians.
“As the war between Israel and Hamas rages on, I urge my fellow Americans to remain vigilant, and not fall for any false propaganda that claims people living in Gaza and the West Bank are worthy of human life,” said the 46th president, adding that since the war had begun, U.S. intelligence had discovered countless bad actors flooding the internet with reports that many Palestinians were mothers, fathers, and children who were not terrorists and did not deserve to be trapped without food, water, or fuel while being carpet-bombed into submission.
“If you hear a Palestinian being described with terminology like ‘son,’ ‘daughter,’ or ‘in desperate need of medical attention,’ then you should be aware that what you are reading has been specifically designed to stoke empathy.”
At press time, Biden added that Americans should also avoid dangerous propaganda that wrongly asserts the billions of dollars in military aid the United States has sent to Israel could be spent on things like healthcare, education, or alleviating poverty at home.

Biden Says His Uncle Was Eaten By ‘Cannibals’ 😲
Tumblr media
Joe Biden pays respects to his uncle World War II veteran Ambrose J, Finnegan, Jr. at the Veterans War Memorial in Scranton, Pennsylvania, before departing for Pittsburgh, on April 17, 2024.
Joe Biden has suggested twice that his uncle may have been eaten by cannibals after his plane crashed in New Guinea during World War II.
On Wednesday, Biden implied that his uncle, Ambrose Finnegan, was eaten by cannibals, even though military records show that the plane plunged into the Pacific.
“He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time,” Biden initially told reporters after visiting a war memorial that bears his uncle’s name in Scranton, Pa. “They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there, and they checked and found some parts of the plane.”
Upon traveling to Pittsburgh to deliver a speech regarding steel tariffs, the 46th president recounted the same story.
“He got shot down in New Guinea, and they never found the body because there used to be—there were a lot of cannibals, for real, in that part of New Guinea,” Biden told United Steelworkers union members.
According to the Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Finnegan’s aircraft was actually lost over the open Pacific Ocean on May 14th, 1944.
“For unknown reasons, this plane was forced to ditch in the ocean off the north coast of New Guinea. Both engines failed at low altitude, and the aircraft’s nose hit the water hard,” the military’s account says. “Three men failed to emerge from the sinking wreck and were lost in the crash. One crew member survived and was rescued by a passing barge. An aerial search the next day found no trace of the missing aircraft or the lost crew members.”
While telling the story, Biden attacked Donald Trump for allegedly skipping a 2018 visit to the military cemetery outside of Paris during his term in office after calling fallen U.S. troops buried there “suckers” and “losers.”
“Suckers and losers? The man doesn’t deserve to have been the commander in chief of my son,” Biden said in Pittsburgh, after saying in Scranton that Trump “refused to go up to the memorial for veterans in Paris.”
The remarks come from an article by The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg that said Trump “blamed rain for the last-minute decision [not to visit the cemetery], saying that ‘the helicopter couldn’t fly’ and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.”
However, in 2020, evidence surfaced that refuted Goldberg’s story, demonstrating that the Navy had miscalled bad weather, preventing the helicopter trip to the cemetery.
Trump gave a speech at a different military cemetery close to Paris in the rain without an umbrella before leaving for the U.S.

Why do so many US presidents like to say ‘I’m Irish’ 🍀
Almost every US President since John F Kennedy claims to come from Irish ancestry - and it's not just the White House. Some 45 million Americans claim Irish heritage, 10 times more than the population in Ireland.
Since John F. Kennedy, every president apart from Gerald Ford has claimed some Irish ancestry, he says, although in Bill Clinton's case, there was not any evidence of a connection. There's not a huge love of Irish tradition, with the possible exception of JFK, Ronald Reagan, and Joe Biden not a huge love of Irish culture, with the possible exception of JFK, Reagan Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden but there's a huge love for Catholic votes and particularly Irish Catholic votes and the power of the Irish-American lobby, past and present, and how any US politician worth their salt knows how important it is to woo them.
Almost every town in Ireland is connected to Americans. Any trip to Ireland is a dive into their own story–discovering their Irish roots. Although Catholicism has long been one of the largest U.S. religious groups, John F. Kennedy and Joe Biden are the only Catholic faith.
Tumblr media
JFK was 100% Irish on both sides of his family, and first Catholic president. The relatives on his father’s side came from County Wexford. On his mother’s side, Kennedy was a Fitzgerald. JFK’s grandfather, Honey Fitz, was a congressman and a colorful, popular mayor of Boston. Traditional Irish family ties, religion, and bold personalities were all part of Kennedy’s personal culture. His wife, Jackie, was Irish on her mother’s side.
Tumblr media
Richard Nixon - Both sides of his family hail from County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Although a Quaker, Nixon’s wife, Thelma ‘Pat’ Ryan, was from an Irish-Catholic immigrant family.
Tumblr media
Ronald Reagan in Tipperary in 1984. Republican’s great-grandfather was a farmer in Ballyporeen, County Tipperary, until he moved to London where he met his Irish refugee wife. Then they moved to Illinois. He enjoyed his visits to Ireland. His easy charm and wit were 100% Irish in character.
Tumblr media
Bill Clinton - Although historian's have been unable to locate documentary evidence of Clinton's ancestors leaving Ireland, he considers himself a very proud Irish American. He contributed greatly to the Northern Ireland peace process. His motivation for which seemed to be out of more than just diplomatic duty according. He visited the North in 1995 and gave a rousing speech in favour of peace. During negotiations of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, he encouraged all parties involved to reach a resolution via several telephone calls. On his visit to Ireland in 2013, Clinton received a hero’s welcome. The golf course in Ballybunnion still erected an nice statute of Bill Clinton.
Tumblr media
His mother’s ancestry was mostly English but several of his maternal ancestors came from Moneygall, County Offally. Moneygall is on the road between Dublin and Tipperary, and the town cheered Barack on during his election bid. It must be said, some of the village residents first thought that his last name was O’Bama.
It was really when Barack Obama's visit to his ancestral family home in Moneygall, County Offaly historians were encouraged to take a closer look at the 22 American presidents with roots in Ireland.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, Joe Biden the 46th President of the United States a proud Irish-American, has strong Irish roots with family from his mother and father’s side still living in Carlingford, Co Louth, and Ballina in Co Mayo. The Blewitts of County Mayo and Finnegans from County Louth emigrated to the United States around the mid-19th century. At 18 years of age, Biden's great-great grandfather Patrick Blewitt left Irish shores for the US. His great great grandparents Owen and Jean Finnegan also left their home in County Louth around the same time.
Indeed 10 of his 16 great-great-grandparents were Irish-born, all forced to emigrate during the Irish famine.

Biden’s trip comes 60 years after John F. Kennedy’s visit. In a visit to Northern Ireland lasting just 18 hours, where a Brexit row has paralysed politics for nearly a year, the US president promised that his country would be a “partner for peace” in a region that marked the end of the “Troubles” conflict 25 years ago this week.
In Belfast on Wednesday, he celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement that ended three decades of conflict and he hailed the UK and EU’s new Brexit deal, the Windsor framework, as key to investment. Biden then spent three days in Ireland, visiting regions his ancestors emigrated from.

The gaffe-prone president did drop a clanger in the Windsor, suggesting that his distant cousin and former rugby star Rob Kearney had trounced “the Black and Tans” — the British police in Ireland’s war of independence. The White House corrected his remarks to “the All Blacks”, the nickname of the New Zealand rugby team Kearney had played against.
… and going the other way…
Eamon De Valera

Ireland’s 3rd President. 1959-1973, who had been Taoiseach or President of Ireland 🇮🇪
A founder of the political party, Fianna Fáil, he’s credited with introducing the first Irish Constitution in 1937. He served two-terms in office and it’s widely believed that his American roots are why he wasn’t sentenced to death for his part in the Easter Rising in 1916. Ireland’s third president was born in Manhattan, New York.

Joe Biden (D) 46th U.S. President
You know what, at times, Joe could get some from me. But then he’ll say and or do something stupid and I’ll have to pass. And the bike incident, I feel a little bad for President Biden.
So I'd like to offer him some lessons in riding and dismounting.
What? He'll be better at dismounting after riding and I get to bust a few nuts.
Win. Win.

Latest Reuters Poll Shows US Stock Market Heading For Major Rally This Year
The latest Reuters poll shows that the United States is headed for a major rally in the stock market this year. However, China's economic growth is expected to slow to a near 30-year low this year and cool further to 5.9% in 2020.
Nickel and copper are the bull stand-outs
A recent reuters poll of 13 analysts showed that copper and nickel have become the metals to watch. Copper is in the running for best base metal, while nickel takes the crown for best metallurgical metal. This is aided by a slew of high profile projects in the works including Vale's US$1.7 billion expansion of its Voisey's Bay mine in Canada and the looming China vs. USA trade war.
The nitty gritty is a bit of a quandary, given the myriad projects in play. One question lingers: which is king in the long term?
Nickel and copper are a couple of the country's most prized minerals, and as such, are likely to remain so in the years to come. With the likes of copper, lithium, and uranium, this is a metal dominated world.
China's economic growth is expected to slow to a near 30-year low this year and cool further to 5.9% in 2020
The Chinese economy is in a long-term decline. However, the country has shown resilience so far. Its GDP growth last year was better than many economists expected. As the economy continues to recover, policymakers are signaling that they are focusing on increasing investment and consumption. This is in addition to efforts to tackle inequalities in access to quality healthcare and education.
But China is also at risk of further slowing due to tighter global financial conditions and geopolitical tensions. And while the economy is projected to rebound in 2023, it is also vulnerable to further tightening.
In January, the World Bank revised its global growth forecast downward to 2.9 percent in 2022 from 3.0 percent. Global inflation was revised upward to 6.6 percent from 5.9 percent.
U.S. stock market indexes are set for more gains by the end of this year
A Reuters poll of Wall Street market strategists predicts the S&P 500 will continue to rally through the end of the year. Most of the strategists surveyed see a better economic outlook. They expect earnings growth to rise, but they're also worried about a mild recession.
The S&P 500 has climbed over 70 percent since hitting its March low, and most of the strategists in the Reuters poll see the index ending the year well above its current level. Several are predicting the index will rise more than eight percent for the year, while others are more optimistic about the outlook.
Although the Fed has raised interest rates several times this year, inflation remains stubbornly sticky. This has led many to fear that rate hikes will push the economy into a recession. But there are signs the U.S. is bucking the trend.
Biden's approval rating has sunk to a new low
The 46th president of the United States has reached an all-time low approval rating. US President Joe Biden's public approval rating fell to the lowest level of his presidency last week, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The poll, conducted February 2-3, showed that 42% of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing, while 58% disapprove. It also found that 57 percent of those under 30 years old disapprove of the job he is doing.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that President Joe Biden's approval rating is the lowest it's been since August. That's a clear warning sign for the Democratic Party, which is expected to lose at least one chamber of Congress in the November 8 elections.
In the poll, 58% of respondents disapprove of the president's job performance. This includes 63 per cent of those surveyed who disapprove of the president's handling of the economy, and 69 per cent who disapprove of his handling of inflation.
QE2 news is a 'one and done'
The Federal Reserve announced a plan to purchase $600 billion in government bonds, dubbed QE2. It's not a new round of QE, but it's a step beyond the previous program.
As expected, the market reaction was muted. Investors were more focused on what the new buys would mean for the economy.
Still, the Fed's announcement did the trick. Markets have mostly priced in the impacts of the new programme, and the Fed's decision is now baked into the dollar.
Some economists say the new buys will help boost the economy. But growth is likely to be modest. And inflation will not rise as quickly as hoped.
There are several reasons to believe the Fed has already been making the most of the opportunity to buy government bonds. Specifically, the central bank has cut borrowing costs to near zero since December 2008, enabling banks to borrow at extremely low rates. In addition, consumer spending has increased recently.

The Hill We Climb
-Amanda Gorman
She wrote and performed "The Hill We Climb" to celebrate the 2021 inaguration of Joe Biden as 46th President of the United States. The poem celebrates the U.S. not as a "perfect union", but as a country that has the grit to struggle with its all-too-real problems. Progress, the poem argues, doesn't happen all at once: it's a slow and sometimes painful "climb" up the "hill" of justice, a climb that takes patience and humility. To this poem's speaker, change is hard work but it’s always possible: dedicated Americans can see— and be!— the "light" of a better future.

In 2021 for U.S President Joe Bidens inauguration miss Lady Gaga was asked to sing the national anthem and of course she managed to do it in fashion. In an interview with Vouge she stated how “this is one of my favorite thing’s I’ve ever worn”. She wore a custom navy and red dress designed by Schiaparelli with a golden dove on top as well, symbolizing peace. Being an Italian designer and her being an Italian woman she new it was a perfect match to display her Heritage while bringing in the 46th president of the United States. She later also revealed that the dress she wore was actually bulletproof.

Biden Delivers State of the Union Address
Tumblr media
President Joe Biden delivered a loud and angry State of the Union Address in his 51st all-time appearance.
Already 20 minutes late, he began his speech by screaming that America needs to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin by providing more aid to Ukraine. The 46th president stated that if the country does not continue to support Ukraine “the free world would be at risk.”
He then changed topics to Roe v. Wade referring to it as reproductive rights instead of as “abortion.” He thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for defending what he calls reproductive rights and claimed that Republicans want a national ban on abortions.
Biden then scolded the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade.
Biden basically threatens the Supreme Court justices to their faces over abortion and struggles to read the teleprompter while doing it. pic.twitter.com/zMJvgPqbjg— Greg Price (@greg_price11) March 8, 2024
Biden switched to COVID, a topic that was met with Republicans yelling “liar” after he stated that Donald Trump failed the American people during the pandemic.
Biden then touted the economy, saying it was the “envy for the entire world.” During his discussion of the economy he also claimed that he fixed the inflation rates, saying it has “dropped from 9% to 3%- the lowest in the world!” under his presidency.
The 46th president continued to talk louder after saying crime has gone down. Those statements were met with yelling from many Republicans who attended the speech. The president claimed that crime rates have gone down by 30% since he took office.
🚨WATCH: Biden gets absolutely HUMILIATED by savage heckler screaming at him mid-speech while talking about low crime rates in America pic.twitter.com/hBTKbM28XI— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) March 8, 2024
Biden touched on taxes. He stated that everyone needs to pay their fair share, alluding to the billionaires in the country. Biden said that billionaires need to pay 25% in taxes. The Democrat blamed Trump as the reason the federal deficit exploded. He also stated that Trump kept adding to the national debt during his tenure.
The over 50-year politician then continued his loud State of the Union Address, stating that the GOP is to blame for the border crisis. He said Republicans do not want to sign the bill proposed by his administration.
Biden did not mention the surge in murders committed in the U.S. by illegal aliens until Representative Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) pressed him from the crowd on Laken Riley, the nursing student who was allegedly killed in Georgia by an illegal immigrant. The president then butchered Laken Riley’s name, calling her “Lincoln Riley.”
Biden ended his speech by talking about Israel and Gaza.
“A temporary pier would enable a massive increase in the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Gaza every day,” Biden said. “And Israel must also do its part. Israel must allow more aid into Gaza and ensure that humanitarian workers aren’t caught in the cross fire.” “Israel also has a fundamental responsibility though to protect innocent civilians in Gaza,” Biden added.
Biden said the only solution to the conflict would be a two-state solution.
He ended his speech addressing perceptions of his age and how’s he’s been called “too young” and “too old” throughout his career.
“My fellow Americans, the issue facing our nation isn’t how old we are — it’s how old our ideas are,” Biden said. “Hate, anger, revenge, retribution are the oldest of ideas. But you can’t lead America with ancient ideas that only take us back.”

July 27 (Reuters) - U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband sold his shares of chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA.O) on Tuesday, days before the House is expected to consider legislation providing subsidies and tax credits worth over $70 billion to boost the U.S. semiconductor industry.
In a periodic transaction report, the senior Democrat disclosed that her husband, financier Paul Pelosi, sold 25,000 shares of Nvidia for about $4.1 million, ending up with a loss of $341,365.

Paul Pelosi frequently trades shares of companies popular with many investors, including Apple (AAPL.O), Microsoft (MSFT.O) and other tech companies.
Transaction reports filed by Pelosi, a multi-millionaire, show her husband bought 5,000 Nvidia shares in July 2021, and that he exercised options to buy another 20,000 Nvidia shares last June.
The Senate is expected to vote on final passage in coming days of legislation providing about $52 billion in government subsidies for U.S. semiconductor production, as well as an investment tax credit for chip plants estimated to be worth $24 billion.

The legislation, which aims to make the domestic chip industry more competitive with China's, would then be taken up in the U.S. House under Pelosi's direction.
Last year, Pelosi defended the rights of federal lawmakers to trade stocks, but she later responded to calls for a ban on trading by lawmakers by signaling willingness to potentially advance such legislation.
A 2012 law makes it illegal for lawmakers to use information from their work in Congress for their personal gain. The law requires them to disclose stock transactions by themselves or family members within 45 days.

An analysis by Unusual Whales, a service selling financial data, concluded that congressional lawmakers last year traded $290 million in stocks, options, cryptocurrency and other assets, and that they outperformed the market, on average.
