photo by Saad Chaudhry I used to have the time of my life hanging out way into the night. Even when I knew I should go home and get some sleep, I would keep partying. Now I can’t imagine going out late and doing too much as I can barely say awake by 10 pm. Written By: Deirdre Stokes Copyrighted ©️ 2023 By Deirdre Stokes

Forest Romance
Getting lost in the infinite connections with tiredness of a feeling that’s both joyful and heavy is scary to imagine. Knitted in mystery that offers me no directions, I manage to get lost in your world even if far. It feels good when, after astray, I see rays of light where I could find you waiting at a home that I feel mine. Credits & Footnote Inspired by Sonya’s ‘Three Line Tales…

The City in the Pale Mist
Mists hang, heavy and white, over the quiet of the Empty City.
I do not know how long its serene towers have been empty, nor what people lived here, amongst the pine trees whispering in the wind.
Perhaps it has always been empty, empty and waiting, silent and patient in the pale mists beyond the waters.

Isle Of Pigs #3LineTales
Isle Of Pigs #3LineTales #story #100words #flashfiction #writing #prompt #autumn #island #pigs #funny #life #drama #writer #blog
I laughed when I first heard the stories; a island full of pigs that liked to swim in the sea? It was a mad man’s fantasy!
To prove it, my husband took me out there. We sat in the boat, waiting and I giggled every now and then, of course we weren’t going to see pigs swimming in the sea, there was more chance of seeing them flying!
Then from the tree covered shore they come, down onto the yellow…

April 2021
My thoughts on the new month. From places left forgotten as extinct… Simply out to help us reflect. Oh April, you ain’t far-high!You boasted of hills not nigh.Weren’t they yet another lie? Yes, the months are rolling fast! Had believed the fourth to be miles away. But see, it’s dawning even before we celebrated March’s match! I give up betting on tides. Happy new month! At most enjoy!

Always Prove Them Wrong: Three Line Tales #267
Always Prove Them Wrong: Three Line Tales #267
Charlotte ambivalently hopped home with just one tennis shoe on, scared to tell Mama that she didn’t know where the other shoe was, but also still celebrating that she’d had the courage to accept the dare from Teana to run over the sands at the beach and into the ocean. She was proud of herself, because Mama had told her countless times that she was too clumsy to accomplish anything in life. So…

Three Line Tales 259-Only 100 Words
Three Line Tales 259-Only 100 Words
https://only100words.xyz/2021/01/13/three-line-tales-259/ Catch Me If You Can! Aaron saw a flyer on his dorm’s bulletin board for a race like no other he had ever seen or participated in. He read the flyer to see what all this race entailed and if he needed any special gear, all he needed was a bike, a helmet, and the desire to compete. Aaron was running while carrying his bike on his shoulder…

TLT: Ten Years It had been ten years. Every day she'd visited the mooring where he'd long ago tied up his boat; where he'd knelt before her, his heart in his eyes, and asked her to wait for him.

Your light
Week 260 of Three Line Tales photo by Jonny Caspari via Unsplash It shines so brightly this year as if something has changed in you. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it moves me every time I am around you. Like you are a beacon of light guiding me to be a better and lighter life, and now I feel I have so much more to look forward to. Written By: Deirdre StokesCopyrighted ©️ 2021 By…

Three Line Tale #3: The expanse
Three Line Tale #3: The expanse
She stared at the barren expanse that lay in front of her and heaved a sigh, bored from the long wait.
It was ironic that the blue planet had replaced the red planet now.
Her watch informed that the next shuttle to the Mars Rehabilitation Centre was 5 minutes away.

It was “us”!
“I stand here looking at the graduation photo of our bachelor’s degree, wondering how the ugly you became so beautiful when posing like me”, she teased and continued on phone just hours before her post-graduation. “All thanks to the photographer who captured my presence in spite of me having stuck at home bedridden due to an accident! Remember, it was ‘us’ even when it had been ‘you’ who stood at…

The Crossing
There is a wolf in the forest beside the water, with teeth like glinting knives and hungry, hungry eyes.
There is a serpent in the lake below, coiling and writhing, water glistening on scales shadow-dark and shadow-slick.
The girl walks along the narrow bridge, trying not to look down, not to look into the dark of the woods, and to keep her eyes upon the shore ahead, rising safe and green from the black waters.

The moon fell from space and broke up as it entered earth, sending fire across the sky.
The children walking in the forest, found a chunk of it, not knowing what it was and seeing only a strange coloured ball, they played with it, throwing and kicking until the moon piece began to break up.
Each with a moon rock, the children decided to take their unusual find home, whilst unaware of the turmoil…

I Will Wait
Tumblr media
Photo by Jorge Flores via Unsplash
“I will wait for you,” she said. “Even in cold ruined places where wind blows in the refuse of the city and where more is broken than is whole. I’ll wait, so you can know I’m here when you are finally permitted to come home.”
