Day 1 - Basic Introduction

Hestia (Ἑστια - meaning Hearth) is the Greek goddess of the hearth, home, and family. She had few actual temples but instead presided over hearths in all homes, altars, and the cities. Prayers and sacrifices started and ended with Hestia which is a reoccurring pattern in her worship, such as honoring the first/last bites of a meal.

I have always appreciated her for years and recently I've decided to start incorporating her more officially in my life and I'm very excited to do so. I want to start focusing on household worship and I thought a Days of Devotion to Hestia would be a great way to really get me started.

Lord Loki, or just Loki is the norse god of mischief, chaos, etc. He is gender fluid, presenting as many different genders throughout history. As he is the god of mischief, he can be alot of chaos to handle and might not be the best beginner deity, but I love him with all my heart. He is an amazing deity, and if you ever get the chance to work with him and you think it's the right path, go for it! In my practice, he has loving and father like energy. He is protective and chaotic.

I’m blaming watching lilsimsie for my dip into Minecraft SMPs but I just binge watched all of Scott’s WitchCraft SMP videos on his youtube.... and I know ya’ll make a lot on animatics so I gotta know....is there a WitchCraft SMP animatic centered around Scott’s Necromancer character to the song “Necromancin’ Dancin’” by Bear Ghost? #couldnt sleep last night. at all #had to wake up at 5:15 so i went to bed at a crisp 11:15 #six hours is enough sleep for a ten hour shift right? #it doesnt matter. because i got MAYBE two hours #two NONCONSECUTIVE hours #went to bed at 11:15. woke up at 12:15. went back to bed. woke up at 12:30. wokw up at 12:45. etc #seriously it was almost exactly 15 minute intervals. for hours on end #and those fifteen minutes were not sleep #i closed my eyes for a bit. felt like hours had gone by. opened my eyes to find that only fifteen minutes had passed #finally at 4am i decided that i didnt want to keep trying to sleep #so i went on my phone for a bit and then took a shower before work #do you know how difficult showering is??????? do you??????? i xan barely do it on a good day #to be clear. i shower regularly and am always clean and hygienic. it's just difficult for me #but at 4:45am after almost no sleep i easily got myself out of bed and took a shower #what the fuck kind of witchcraft was that #im halfway through my ten hour shift and it's gone by so quickly. thank god #i was alone for the first 4.5 hours so my boss only made me run drive thru #and sunday is always chill. i got like five total customers #then two of my coworkers showed up and we had to open the entire store but whatever #took another adderall today which is probably helping. took two yesterday which probably caused this problem #but i dont care. i took a shower. im awake and feel alright. and time is going by quickly #thats all that i need in life #that and a better job

Roots of Craft: Day One

Divination. Does it work? Would you use it? What do you think of those who do? Why?

I do use divination, and it absolutely works! I currently use my main tarot deck for small personal readings and to practice my shuffling skills. I'm a little rusty with my pendulums, since I don't have a lot of questions that can be broken down into a simple yes/no. I'd like to get further into oracle and take a peek at reading coffee grounds!

Everyone I've known who uses divination are incredibly cool and intuitive in so many ways! There's so many forms of divination and no two diviners will use one form the same way. From cartomancy with poker cards to even utilizing coins, bones, runes, and ogham.

Divination is one of the more common practices I see in witchcraft communities. It's easy to pick up as a skill, and sometimes quick to utilize. It is also a wonderful form of connection when speaking with entities for those of us who aren't as inclined to the clair senses.

They can, as any tool, be utilized wrong or in harmful ways. A tarot reader can lie about what the cards say; A pendulum can be energetically biased; Coffee grounds and tea leaves simply won't show a clear picture. But that all comes with practice, and the ethics of the witch using them.

I’ve been trying to find a way to practice my craft more often since I’ve returned along the beam, but as I travel frequently, it is a little difficult. So, I decided to develop myself with some 30 Day challenges! I tried a "Roots of your Craft 30-Day Challenge" but found it to be too basic as I'm well past the stage of "How do you think this will change your views?"

While Samhain starts the pagan "New Year, I'm starting with Lughnasadh/Lammas because it is August 1, Monday and I want to get a little ahead of it so that we can all celebrate in our own ways. 

First things first, Lughnasadh (pronounced Loo-NAS-ah) has been spelled about 5 different ways in my research. Pick the spelling you can remember LOL! Lughnasadh is also the Celtic version of this Sabbat and can be used interchangeably with Lammas. 

Lughnasadh/Lammas occurs on August 1st, the midpoint between the summer solstice (Litha) and fall equinox (Mabon). As a midpoint, its date doesn't change yearly, whereas 4 of the sabbats do to match the solstices and equinoxes.

This holiday celebrates the fall harvest that fed our ancestors through the year. It was a celebration of the fruits of their labors.  If crops were harvested before Lughnasadh, it meant that the previous harvest ran out before the year was up. It meant that the previous year's crops were scant, and that could mean a vicious cycle of running out of food too early in the year. 

The Lammas Fest was savored with gratitude and village sharing of the crops. Some ancient pagan cultures held sacrifice: some a horse - to Freyr, some a bull or their king (sometimes in effigy - sometimes not), to their Sun God, some cornhusk dolls made in effigy of each member sacrificed into the fire for their Harvest God. Many broke bread together made with the first grains harvested that year.

It is lost in lore as to the specific reason the Celts honored Lugh on this Sabbat. Decorate your altar with things related to your skill. 

Light a grain-colored candle for Lugh: brown, yellow gold, bronze

Harvest your own garden and share it with your "village"

Make bread of all kinds to share with your family and friends.

Host a canned food drive or donate canned goods to your local food pantry.

Make corn husk dolls (no sacrifice necessary!)

But you can!

Renew your home protection spells.

Have a Lammas ritual of self-reflection by meditating on the blessings in your life and the sacrifices you need to make to better your life.

Historically, I've ended this ritual by sipping a local fall wine and eating a slice of the bread my family made, alternating a bite and a drink until gone.

The Ares Kids scoffed as clarisse shoved them out of the cabin.

“This is our cabin to you can’t just kick us out when you want” kyler complained as he grabbed his shoes. Clarisse on the other hand didn’t care.

“You should be thanking me since your lazy ass can’t even swing that sword correctly” she shoved a sword into his chest. “Train and maybe I’ll let the rest of y’all back in— you all have been slacking and that’s clear since the other team has beaten us three fucking times this past month in capture the flag, get your act together”

The rest of the cabin didn’t say anything in response just quickly moving out. Once they were gone clarisse leaned back against the ladder that leaned upstairs.

“Hey”

“Holy shit!” She yelled. You stood behind her laughing, being a daughter of Hecate you had some minor godly abilites some being witchcraft and shadow travel. “How many times to I have to tell you to stop fucking sneaking up on me like that” she complained but wrapped her hands around your waist and place a light kiss on your lips.

You giggled and wrapped your arms around her neck before mumbling against her. “Yeah Well you love me so you’ll get over it, and I’m on time this time 9:30 am” you grinned against her lips.

She just chuckled and put a hand to the side of your face looking down at you with such a soft look that if anyone else saw it they wouldn’t believe it was her, her face soon turned more sarcastic however. “How does your mommy feel about you making out with the daughter of war”

you raised an eyebrow. “And How does your daddy feel about his favorite daughter making out with a Demi-Titan”

Clarisse scoffed. “Don’t call yourself that, your as much of a demigod as anyone else here” you rolled your eyes. “Ok Claire”

“I’m serious y/n—“

“Clarisse what is Hecate”

“A goddess” she answered almost as if it was fact. You however gave her an unamused look. “Fine she’s a Titan — but she has an honorary spot among the Olympians because she sided with them in the fight against Kronos making her a goddess”

“Still she’s a Titan so technically I would be a Demi-Titan theres nothing wrong we me admitting that and do you really think I give to shits what anyone else thinks” you leaned into her once again and kissed her. Clarisse Just sighed in defeat into the kiss and pulled you closer.

Soon you found yourself in clarisses bed which was a single bed in the corner of the upstairs part of the cabin, she had a curtian nailed to the wall for more privacy as her cabin was mostly guys and he bed placed against the window.

You sat on her waist while both of you continued to kiss. A few sly and sarcastic remarks here n there but that just made it all the more enjoyable.

You tucked a stray curl behind clarisses ear. “You know your pretty right”

“You tell me Everyday” she sarcastically replied but you just hummed. “Yeah Well It’s True”

The ares cabin door loudly opened and clarisse groaned knowing her siblings were back. “Fuck” she scoffed.. Clarisse moved you off of her and stepped out of her bed making sure the curtian was closed before looking over the side of the railing. “What the hell are you doing back so early?”

Her siblings didn’t noticed clarisses disheveled appearance. Mark spoke up. “Paula got into a fight with a Demeter kid so Chiron told us all to go to the cabin for the rest of the day because he didn’t want us to cause more problems.” Clarisse let out a pissed off sigh.

“Whatever” she groaned and went back to her bed.. Clarisse lifted the curtian slightly and slid in. she leaned into you and kissed you softly before whispering. “Get outta here k.. I’ll see you around”

You nodded and kissed her Mkay” before you left however she grabbed your wrist. “Sneak back in later tonight” with that clarisse let you go, watching as you disappeared into the shadows

The camp was down at the lake, they were all either swiming- in the canoes or on the rubber mats in the water.

Clarisse snuck away from her cabin and walked into the woods.. she saw you leaning against a tree and smiled. She grabbed your waist softly and pulled you into a kiss. You pulled away and giggled. “Mm careful clarisse my girlfriend likes to beat up people”

Clarisse Rolled her Eyes playfully. “Oh No, we better not get caught then huh” you giggled as she leaned in to kiss you once again. You gently tugged clarisses hair to mess with her, laughing into the kiss as she pinched your sides.

“Y/n where a—“ an aphrodite girl paused when she saw the scene. You shoved clarisse back some embarrassed.. you watched as the daughter of Aphrodite ran away worried that the cat was now out of the bag but clarisse didn’t seem to mind. “Lise” you complained and pushed her head off your neck but she just gave you a sarcastic look.

“Hm”

“We Just got caught by drew, drew Tanaka Aphrodite girl?! Lise she’s gonna tell everyone”

Clarisse Just shrugged her shoulders and continued to kiss you. “Whatever i hope she tells everyone, gives me more of a reason to show you off” she kissed your cheek before kissing your lips once again.

“Huh” you panted confused. Clarisse pulled away with a raised eyebrow. “Did I stutter? I wanna show you off, not let anyone else mess around with you”

She laughed at your blushing cheeks “let’s get back before the camp thinks we’re fucking out here, we both know how drew changes the truth” she grinned and grabbed your hand leading you back to the camp.

Day One : What First Interested You About Aphrodite ??

I have always felt connected to love , beauty , and the ocean. I grew up right next to the ocean , it's like a second home to me. In particular , though , I was drawn to her in February of 2021. I didn't start worshipping her until April of that year , though. In my opinion , I feel as if I've been worshipping her my whole life , albeit not consciously. She has just always been such an important of my person.

through my friend, they worked with Loki and I found myself interested in him. he came into my space and I ignored him for a while. eventually, through tiktok and my own research I invited him into my space, and started working with him, then eventually started devoting myself to him.

SUPER Low Energy Witchcraft

I’ve been seeing a lot of low energy witchcraft posts, but every one I read isn’t really low energy. When I think ‘low energy,’ I think something I can do on my lowest of low days. Days I can’t get out of bed or even think sometimes. So here it is. The SUPER Low Energy Witchcraft Guide.

Sigils sites. I have found this one to be very good. They’ll make a sigil for you so you don’t have to.

Pinterest boards. Making spells or manifesting using Pinterest boards is one of my favorite things to do.

Spotify playlists. Similar to the Pinterest board idea, use songs to create spells or manifest certain things.

Emoji spells. Use emojis to make spells, making sure they’re packed with intent.

Hang out with your tarot deck. Or any divination tool, for that matter. Just having it near you counts.

Talking to spirits and deities. Tell them about something you plan to do for them, a ritual you’d like help with, ask for help getting through the lows, etc. Or just talk to them. It doesn’t matter about what, talking improves relationships.

Read. Read books you were planning on reading. Definitely do not ever go on Z-Library for free books. Never. /s You do have limits on downloading and it’s relatively hard to figure out on mobile, but if you can get your tablet or computer up and running, it’ll work perfectly.

Scroll through Tumblr. Or Reddit. Or Pinterest. Or even Tik Tok. Scroll through the witch tags, scroll through the tags of and deities you might worship/work with. Or just look at pretty plants. Think about what they can help you with.

Make a shopping list. If you need to restock any herbs or candles, note it down.

Just light a candle or two. Simple as that.

Make a pouch or enchant a piece of jewelry or whatever you want to do to help you recover from your lows before they happen. Touch them or hold them or even just think of them when you want.

Similar to above, enchant any aids (mobility aids, medication, pain relievers, heating pads and ice packs, etc.) to help you recover faster.

If you can, think about your practice, what you want to change, what you 100% wouldn’t change, how it relates to others’ crafts, etc.

Meditate. I’m not talking about some 30 minute guided meditation sitting upright, because I have trouble with them on my lows. I’m talking about staring blankly into space or practicing mindfulness or something like that. You don’t have to do it for long, either. Take a few minutes to chill.

If you can, open your windows. Or curtains. Or blinds. Let it clear out your space.

Enchant your water or foods to help with your symptoms. Draw a sigil with anything (oil, sharpie, air, etc.) on your bottles and above your food to aid in your recovery.

Wash your face and/or hands to cleanse yourself for the day.

Have a ‘worry stone.’ Take a crystal or rock or other stone and rub it when you’re anxious. Or, enchant it to remove negative energies and rub it when your pain is at the worst. The very least it will do is distract you.

Simply rest. Resting and taking some time to recover is the best practice.

Obviously this isn’t a large list, but I cannot emphasize the ‘simply rest’ part enough. As practitioners, we tend to want to do more when we’re sitting bored in bed. But remember, safety first. The quicker you recover, the quicker you can get back to your craft.

Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (740 of 842 are in spanish, from 731 last month), Tortillaland (110 of 115 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (752 of 7,375 are in spanish, from 668 last month.)

QSMP also shows 39 fics in French, up from 30 last month, and 405 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 375 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in German, 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 5 fics in Русский (Russian), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe), all the same as last month. New is two fics in Polski (Polish), one fic in Svenska (Swedish), and one fic in Dansk (Danish).

In the small and micro fandoms (under 200 fics), some of the most active small fandoms have grown out of this category so we only saw small amounts of growth. The standout fandoms all saw an increase of 6 works, and that was a tie between Content SMP, New Life SMP, and Witchcraft SMP. Note that Content SMP was coming up from only 24 works, so 6 new works is an increase of 25% of the fandom, truly impressive.

In the midsize fandoms (200-1000), Fable SMP has broken that 1000-fic mark and can no longer qualify for our standout fandom! Instead, our most active fandom was Evolution SMP, with 33 new works, followed by Mystreet with 20 fics and Minecraft: Story Mode with 24 fics. Mystreet and Story Mode are both new fandoms so it's unclear whether that's people retagging old work or true new fics.

For the post-canon big fandoms: Empires went up by 178 works, singificantly more than last month's 117, but not beating the previous month's 240, and Dream SMP's increase of 918 beat the previous month's 767, but is still only the second time I've seen this fandom fall under a thousand works plus a month. Hermitcraft is between seasons right now, but still experienced that holiday exchange boost, as its increase of 784 beat both last month's 574 and the previous month's 651. For active fandoms, traffic series posted a staggering 831 fics, which is its highest ever number, beating April 2023's 671 fics. QSMP saw 865 fics, which is part of a three month decline (894 last month, 913 the month before), but still posting numbers that are only exceeded by DSMP.

Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT) is 4,223 fics, a significant increase from last month's 3,489, and the previous month's 4,035, but still exceeded by October's record 4,702. Notably, it's higher than the summer numbers and almost exactly the same as the number we saw last January, 4,235 new works.
