Sobre "Stars Align", Jolin expresó: "Cuando recibí el demo, me gustó mucho y la escuché varias veces. En particular, el estribillo de la canción era muy atractivo e interesante. Al escuchar la versión final, la melodía y el ritmo me hicieron sentir muchas ganas de bailar". Por su parte, R3hab afirmó que siempre ha estado explorando diferentes géneros y traspasando límites, y que su colaboración con Jolin estimuló su creatividad y su imaginación, mientras que conectaba culturas.
