We wanted to deconstruct the redundancies of a system that we often no longer recognize, dedicated only to piling up clothes in shop windows and cloning itself in a straight copy/paste game. We started again with a minimalist, simple, essential suit and arrived at travel jackets where the pockets become the focal point, without heaviness, without replicating a boring past, but creating discussion points with you all. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻. SPRING IN THE CITY.

A sunny day and a lot of people on town. Still happy to wear my N-1 Deck Jacket (Real McCoy’s) with the warm liner. But don’t need so much under the jacket. A tee by Formal Friday, a white vintage shirt and a vest by 1stpatrn. Also one of my coolest jeans, by Lee and from Son of a Stag in London. And of course the moc-toes from Red Wing. Since I got new soles I tend to wear them several days a week.

Drawing On The Drake’s Well

The inspiration for today’s outfit comes from the @drakesdiary AW16 lookbook. The idea is simple - mainly blue monotone with a little pattern from the scarf and a dash of colour from the sweater which contrasts nicely - olive, mustard or any number of other colours would also work well. I felt that dark grain boots went well here although you could substitute them for shell tassel loafers (as Drake’s have done), shell boots but in a darker colour. My gut feel is that a darker colour would work better than say, snuff suede.

The cap is a donegal cashmere which adds a little texture but is also interesting when you get closer.

The capsule for SS22 rewrites the concept of denim, seen through our eyes. To create this project, out of any scheme, which took two years, we needed to work above all with sensations, not just tactile ones: touching fibers, trying new mixtures and new textures, and above all, the sensory ones that only music can give. We were helped by Satsuki Muto and Riki Azuma, Small Circle of Friends. I listened to them for the first time in 1994 in Brownswood Workshop's work: "Multidirection" with their song "Sitting on the Fence" and since that moment they have become a point of reference, the most beautiful evenings in Tokyo, me and Silvia spent at BAR MUSIC SHIBUYA, where they regularly perform amazing DJ sets. I can't even try to describe SmallCirle of Friends, because a post would not be enough, what I can do is tell you to follow them and get to know them through their music and on #bandcamp, where real "pearls" are periodically published: fragments, experiments, small pieces of a broader vision that is found in their albums, clips of something that is indescribable, that only listening can be understood. Satsuki and Riki @scof75 wrote and performed a soundtrack especially for us. We asked them to imagine the sound of a new fabric, a new concept of "NON-DENIM" that lives and reacts like a DENIM, but it is not, and never will be.
