MEGADETH Joined By CRISTINA SCABBIA For 'À Tout Le Monde' Performance At Italy's AMA MUSIC FESTIVAL

LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia joined MEGADETH on stage on August 27 at the AMA Music Festival in in Vicenza, Italy to perform the MEGADETH song "À Tout Le Monde". Fan-filmed video footage of her appearance can be seen below.

"À Tout Le Monde", which originally appeared on MEGADETH's 1994 CD "Youthanasia", created controversy in September 2006 because the song was cited in an online post by Dawson College killer Kimveer Gill as one of his favorites before his Montreal shooting spree. MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine contended that he wanted to give the song a second shot at success, as the original video for it had been banned by MTV, and most radio stations followed suit. The track ended up featuring Scabbia after "the first singer didn't work out," Mustaine told Straight.com. "The second one didn't work, and the third one was Lisa Marie Presley. She was on the way to the airport, and we had to call and say, 'Sorry, we changed our minds.' I would have loved to have heard what Lisa Marie Presley would have done, but because of the demographics of the LACUNA COIL fan base, and Cristina's reign in the heavy-metal business, it was the right thing to do."

In a 2008 interview Cristina stated about her collaboration with MEGADETH, "[Dave Mustaine] actually asked me to be part of this duet, and I was really surprised about it because 'À Tout Le Monde' is a song that I've always loved, even if it's not like the new [version] because [the original song] [was released on] the album 'Youthanasia'. It was a big surprise for me to get this invitation — I was really honored to be part of it. And seriously, when I heard the final result, I was awesomely surprised 'cause I think that the two voices are fitting incredibly [well together]. I think that the version of 'À Tout Le Monde' 2007 has a stronger attitude. If the original version was for the mellow mood, this one is way more rock, way more powerful. I totally love it. I was surprised myself, and I think that a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised. It was recorded, like an hour from Birgmingham [England]. So I flew in and recorded my parts with Andy Sneap [producer]. He's [Andy] an amazing guy — super professional — and the atmosphere in the studio was so relaxed. It was like a family vibe, and I think that's the most amazing thing when you have to work. You can work and still smile, you know, and be relaxed. I tracked the entire song because we weren't really sure what we had to do, so we just wanted to be totally sure, so we recorded all the parts that Dave sung with some improvisation with it, double vocals. We basically made anything possible, so they could pick up whatever they wanted to."

"À Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)" appeared on MEGADETH's 2007 album "United Abominations", which was released via Roadrunner Records.

MEGADETH: 29 years of «Youthanasia»

On November 1, 1994, MEGADETH released the successor to the huge «Countdown To Extinction».

Originally released on November 1, 1994, via Capitol Records, «Youthanasia» celebrates its 29th anniversary today. This, which was MEGADETH's sixth studio album, followed the stratospheric success of the previous «Countdown To Extinction» and began recording at Phase Four Studios, in Tempe, in January 1994. After a few weeks of work, the musicians They then moved to Vintage Recorders, in Phoenix, Arizona, and it was in this second location that they did much of the work heard on the album.

The songs were produced by Max Norman, in partnership with Dave Mustaine, the group's leader, founder, vocalist, guitarist and main composer. Even without presenting a major stylistic change in relation to the band's previous recordings, this would only happen a few years later, with «Risk», «Youthanasia» showed the quartet firing on all cylinders and with what is considered their formation ideal: Dave Mustaine on guitar and vocals, Marty Friedman on guitar, David Ellefson on bass and Nick Menza on drums.

Adopting an approach that was perhaps just a little more accessible and rounded, this collection of twelve songs proved to be yet another huge commercial success for MEGADETH. Some would say... - even though he had never been in a position to bite even the most METALLICA heels, by now, Dave Mustaine must have felt a little more vindicated in relation to his former companions James and Lars.

Much at the expense of the echoes caused by «Symphony Of Destruction» and the enormous impact caused by the predecessor «Countdown To Extinction», which had been released just two years before, «Youthanasia» stoically supported itself on two more hugely successful singles , the heaviest «Train Of Consequences» and the super ballad «A Tout Le Monde», which quickly became a huge radio success and one of the most unmissable moments in the group's career.

Rust in Peace è la seconda e forse ultima, pietra miliare della loro carriera assieme a Killing, grazie all’apporto della formazione e al songwriting ispirato di Mega Dave. Countdown to Extinction nel 1992, li consegna alla fama assoluta, ma la ricetta è la stessa di due anni prima, anche se c’è da dire che se Countdown fosse il black album dei Megadeth, avrebbero gestito meglio il successo di come hanno fatto i Metallica, semmai Youthanasia nel 1994 è davvero il capitolo finale e inferiore di una seconda trilogia estremamente fruttuosa per la band del rosso crinito. Cryptic Writings (1997), infatti, per quanto mi riguarda spara ancora forte, mentre Risk (1999), è un tentativo molto azzardato di convertirsi al rock da classifica. Una nuova trilogia, composta da The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed, e United Abominations, impegna i Megadeth dal 2001 al 2007, e li vede gestire quella parte della carriera in cui la creatività comincia a venire meno - The System Has Failed è il migliore dei tre lavori e l’unico davvero sufficiente. Endgame, Thirteen, e Super Collider più che nuovi album sono compilation di inediti dei Megadeth, sempre pregevoli ma con poche idee di fondo. Dystopia del 2016 invece, cambia le cose grazie a un songwriting particolarmente sentito (la title track vince un Grammy), e alla volontà di tornare a suonare come ai primordi, lo stesso fa The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! ben sei anni dopo, ma con meno efficacia. La storia di queste “teste tintinnanti” di Los Angeles è ormai leggenda, ma ho voluto raccontarla come forma di tributo a questa gloriosa pagina di storia dell’heavy metal. I Megadeth sono tra i meno noti al grande pubblico di ascoltatori che non conoscono il metal, ma sono di sicuro tra le formazioni più meritevoli di attenzione (probabilmente la migliore all’interno dei Big Four). Il modo originale di guardare la musica di Dave Mustaine non ha premiato al livello di successo commerciale nella rivalità con i Metallica, ma ha regalato al metal un capitolo di estremo pregio dovuto alla passione per la musica suonata più che interiorizzata. Lunga vita a Dave e a Vic Rattlehead…

Megadeth, a thrash metal band, put out its own NFT collection called "Rattleheads." This made the band the most recent music group to join the Web3 space. With the release of a new NFT collection, the famous thrash metal band Megadeth has joined the Web3 world. The "Rattleheads" collection, which is named after Megadeth's mascot Vic Rattlehead, shows the band's history over the past 40 years through recurring themes and images. The band's mascot was the inspiration for Megadeth's NFT collection. Megadeth, another well-known band in the music world, has joined the Web3. The thrash metal band, which has been together for 40 years, has joined "the future of the internet" by releasing "Rattleheads," its own non-fungible token (NFT) generative art collection. The collection was made by Five to One Collective and Upper Echelon Studios. It was inspired by Megadeth's popular Cyber Army fan club, which has "mission deployment mechanics" and a wide range of other utilities that are expected to come out in the future. Dave Mustain, who leads the band, got the news on his 61st birthday. Megadeth has been one of the most influential metal bands in the world for the past four decades, and Rattleheads has themes and images from that time. This year, singer and songwriter became the chief brand officer of the NFT project Doodles. This week, after raising $54 million in a Series A funding round, the project was valued at $704 million. In April, Snoop Dogg released Death Row Session: Vol. 2 as a free download. All 1,000 copies in the drop were sold for about 100 Ether, which at the time was worth more than $300,000 USD. This year, there has been a big drop in activity on the NFT market. This is due to a steep sell-off in the crypto market as a whole.
