All the time
Bucky Barnes x reader
The three times you called his name. The one time he answered.
1940’s era: James Barnes
Tumblr media
Y/n l/n had regrettably found herself on a date with a something shed be called unladylike for saying asshole. To be fair her mother wouldn’t let her turn the man down, ready to get her married off before the war. She was currently at the movies sitting beside him as his arm draped sloppily over her shoulder and much to close to her breast for her liking all the while he continuously yelled for the movie to start. People all over the theater were ‘shhh’ing him but he didn’t care as he continued on, making y/n want to melt into her seat with embarrassment. You heard from behind you “hey, wanna show some respect?” Someone whispered. You turned around to see a small frail man, you mouthed ‘I’m sorry” and he just nodded back. Again “who cared, Just start the cartoon” he said. Y/n sighed about to get up and leave until the small man spoke up again “hey you wanna shut up?” At that point Tommy heard him and turned towards him.
Somehow you found yourself in the alleyway trying to pull Tommy off of the guy. “Tommy that’s enough” you said pulling his arm, he pushed you down hard making you hit your head on a rock and you felt the blood immediately pool down your face not fully aware of what was going on anymore, until you were pulled up softly “you okay ma’am” you were asked. “Yes, yes I’m fine he needs More help than me” you said pointing to the fight, not even looking at the man that helped you up, more focused on the blood running down your face. You soon saw Tommy walk past you and grabbed your wrist firmly “come on y/n” he said angrily. You struggled against his grip “let me go you pig” you said as you clawed at his hand trying to separate it from your wrist. He didn’t budge “let go of me you disgusting pig” you cried putting as much resistance as you could.
Tommy finally turned and gave you the worst bitch face and forcefully pushed you back as he let go. You fell to the muddy ground, and tears formed in your eyes when you looked down and seen how dirty yourself and your dress was. The two men had seen the whole interaction and rushed to help you up. “Thanks” you said not making eye contact with either as you tried to make yourself a bit more presentable even though those stains weren’t gonna come out without some stern washing. You finally looked up when the shorter man spoke “no thank you for trying to help me. I’m Steve by the way. Steve rogers” he said. You nodded “y/n l/n, wish we could’ve met on better terms” you said with a small laugh. “Steve seems to find trouble everywhere he goes. James Barnes” the other man spoke. You finally took a good look at him and you let out a gasp when you made eye contact with the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen.
He towered over you and his brunet hair only heightened his handsome features. “Oh, uh yeah I mean it happens right?” You replied trying to cover up how shocked you were at his handsome face. He smiled and nodded, making you melt a little. Suddenly you’d felt a little more self conscious. “Hey Steve, how about you go get cleaned up and I’ll walk miss y/n here home.” James says. Steve looked up at him in confusion “why, we goin somewhere?” He asked. James nodded “the future” he said smiling and handed Steve a pamphlet. Steve studied the pamphlet before nodding and making his way home with a nod to you and a pat on James’s back. James led you back to the sidewalk and you began to get dirty looks from people passing by, making you even more uncomfortable and self conscious .
James luckily noticed and started up conversation in hopes to distract you, “So, what where you doing here with, and excuse my language, an asshole like that” he asked. She sighed “my mom, she wants me married or at least in the process of getting married. She’s getting old and my pa passed some time ago, she doesn’t think I can make it on my own.” You said bitterly. You looked at him taking in his attire for the first time “you getting shipped out?” You asked. He nodded “Sargent James Barnes, shipped out to England first thing tomorrow morning” he said standing proud. You nodded lowering your head to watch your shoes as you walk feeling a bit disappointed because he and his friend were the first decent men you’d come across in all of Brooklyn.

Winter soldier era
Tumblr media
after being let out of cyro for the first time in decades the soldier was led to a morally grey room, by the same man with round glasses shed seen before she went into the cyro. Aside from the table and two medal chairs, the room was empty much like the rest of the facility.
The only difference from the rest is there was a lingering presence in the darkest corner of the room. All she could see was the shining of something silver. She made no face, showed no sign of weakness, because she couldn’t, she’d been erased of everything. Fear included. But she stayed on high alert, ready to defend herself and her boss. “Sit” zolo demanded.
She took a stealthy seat, not making any noise as she did so, not even as her boot made contact with the ground on the other side of the chair. She stared at the man who had also taken a seat in front of her. “You have been assigned a new partner, it he has been made to match your every move as if it was your own. You fit together like a puzzle.” The man stated.
She nodded letting the man know she understood. “Step out soldat” the man demanded. At the corner of her eye she’d seen it, the smoothest movement as the figure slipped out of the darkness and into the light. “Meet the winter soldier” said zolo. She slowly turned her head meeting the steel blue eyes. ‘Barnes’ the name had echoed in her head but she was careful not to let her expression shift. She looked back to zolo only to see him eyeing the herself and the soldier carefully. She chose not to make it known. “Do we have a mission?” She asked, voice hoarse from not being used in so long.
“You do” he said and smiled his sickening smile. A file was placed in front of her, the soldier came to stand behind her so he could see, she almost felt at ease. She opened the file only to be met with a photo of a blonde haired blue eyed man. Captain ‘Steve rogers’ America. “What do you want us to do?” The man finally spoke behind her. His voice deep and hoarse as well. “Find him. Bring him alive. Beat him to the brink of death if you have to. But. Bring. Him. Alive.” He demanded. The pair nodded in understanding, before bing dismissed.
as they made their way to the jet and got stocked up on weapons and ammo the name ‘Barnes’ kept running through her head. So much so that it slipped out of her mouth.

Fatws era
Tumblr media
The last time you’d come face to face with james it was after the thanos war, you’d lived with nat while you were figuring things out before then you’d been snapped and now you’re living close toSam’s sister Sarah, helping her out with the boys. On this particular day you had walked into Sarah’s house in search of some flour, as you had ran out some days ago, “hey sara-“ you called but stopped yourself as your eyes landed on an all to familiar shield in the hands of Sarah’s boys. “Hey where’d you-“ she began to question but the oldest shushed her and pointed to the couch. Y/ns brows furrowed as she looked only to see that all too familiar face, obviously just now waking up. She ushered the boys away, but was quick to take the shield before they slipped too far out of her reach. “Hey, I uh- i didn’t know that you were here” she said awkwardly. “I just got here yesterday. I didn’t know you lived here” he said as he sat up from his laying position. “Oh no no. I don’t live here. Like here as in this house, I’m neighbors with Sarah.” You said shaking your head.
All he did was smile at you in amusement, making your cheeks heat up. “Uh well i only came to get something, I’ll be out of here soon” you said slowly backing away into the kitchen. Helping yourself to the flower you’d initially came to get. As you passed him again, he looked lost in thought so you cleared your throat, once again catching his attention. “Uh i live next door, if you uh- ever wanna come by and talk things over” you said nervously picking at your fingers. He smiled that charming smile that had you swooning since day one and nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind” he said. You nodded and backed away from the room and out of the door you used to enter the house.
a while had gone by since your interaction with James and if you’re being honest, you are really disappointed because you were looking forward to seeing him again. You are about to pack up for bed when a knock on your door broke you out of your daydream. You went to cautious because old habits die hard, you open the door to come face-to-face with James Buchanan Barnes. “Oh, hey I wasn’t expecting you” you’d said stupidly before you could think. You were totally expecting him, hoping and praying for him to knock on your door. “If im gonna be honest i want going to. Last time we’d seen each other we left off on a kiss and a barely confessed ‘I love you’. Sam told me not to let that go again.” He said sincerely. “ Well, Sam was right. Ever the wingman, no pun intended” you said letting out a laugh, as did he. Before either of you could make another remark, Bucky rushed forward and pressed a kiss to your lips. The kiss was soft and full of longing and warmth, happiness flooded you like you just took your first drink of hot chocolate on a chilly winter morning. The two of you separated breathing heavily
“my Bucky Barnes.”

It’s been hours. Hours of you and Bucky rolling around in the bedroom sheets, deep into the night.
You couldn’t get enough of each other. Couldn’t get enough of your skin touching, the taste of one another, the breathless words of pleasure as you and he lost count of how many times you reached euphoria together.
Once you were both happy and satisfied with your prolonged adventure of mind-blowing sex, you held each other close under the protective bubble of the sheets.
His body lay tight against yours, facing each other as your foreheads brushed. The palm of his hand cradled your face, his thumb stroking your cheek lovingly. His other trailing delicate fingers up and down your spine. Your skin felt warm and fuzzy as he touched you so gently after his rough and determined behavior previous.
His eyes. You could get lost in them, drown in those perfect blues forever as they gazed into yours. They held nothing but love and affection for you—only you.
“I love you, doll. I’ve done so for some time now. I’ve never felt more alive and happy when I’m with you. You’re the love of my life, darling. You’ve touched my soul like no one ever has.”
Your heart burst with happiness as he finally said those three words to you, declaring his undying love for you. You’ve wanted to share those words with him for some time now but were too afraid to do so, worrying that there was a chance that he didn’t feel the same for you in that way, despite all the clear signs that he did indeed.
You rubbed your nose against him as you smiled in glee, cupping your hands around his neck to play with his hair at the back of it and snuggling even further into his naked embrace.
“Words can’t explain how much I love you, Bucky. It’s beyond what I can ever express. But I’ll spend the rest of our lives together trying to convey just how much as best I can.”
You both leaned in until your lips touched, softly and gently, sealing your words together in a forever pact with a kiss of love and joy.

ㅤㅤㅤJuly, 1943.
My sweetheart,
You're a menace even from far away. How can that be? If I hadn't met you exactly like this, I'd dare say I'm surprised. But I'm not. Little minx. Do you know the lengths of what I had to do to finish your last letter? The effects you have on me, even from far away?
I bet you do. Good god, I can bet you're fuckin' smiling, right now. Sittin' there all pretty with your knees pulled high, so giddy and proud of yourself for what you've done to me. Well—let it be known that this here... this is payback.
First things first, thank you for the pictures.
You're more than I could ever ask for, every single time. One of them is safely tucked inside my uniform. I placed the other one inside my pocket watch. Morita's already laughed under his breath as if I can't fuckin' hear him sayin "you don't let a single hour pass by, huh, Sarge?", so you should be happy to know that, as well. My guys are giggling because of me. Because I'm whipped for you.
Second of all... thank you.
From the bottom of my heart which belongs to you entirely, I'm thankful for you. Knowing Ma has a friend in someone soothes my soul. I got a letter from her a few days ago—she's mad at me for dating you "for almost half of an entire year, James Buchanan. almost half a year and you didn't think to bring her here yourself! You'll count yourself lucky if you go back to the base camp with your ears still intact because when I see you..." and this is a direct quote, by the way. I have her letter right next to me—Ma's mad, and I'm glad that she is. It means she loved ya. As I knew she would.
What did you two talk about? Ma said you played with the girls, too. I think I dreamt of that scene. Did she show you my embarrassing baby pictures? I bet she did. My favorite one is the one that Stevie's got paint all over him; I love that one.
Now... as for the rest of your letter.
What should I do to you, hm?
You can't just tell me these things, you lil' witch. Can't just talk about the things you wished I was doing to you, 'cause I'm not there to do them, and it makes my chest tight, my heart beating faster.
I went to the showers at 2 something a.m. to finish that letter, 'cause I felt your words like caresses all over my skin. Here's a new acronym I learned from Gabe: V E N I C E. Wanna know what it means? I'll tell ya.
It means I think about it, too. Not often, unfortunately, not because I don't want to, but because in here I have very few moments to think about good things, but when I do, that's where my mind goes to—in the sweet minutes I have all to myself, my mind runs back to your presence like a puppy, wiggling its tail with its tongue out, so happy and so excited beyond words because of one single person.
My mind rushes to you, to memories of us, to moments we shared. Most of all, it seems to zoom in on the seconds where we were the closest. I save those memories for the stars, for when no one else's around, for when I can let my brain dive and swim in them.
You said that for you, what comes back when you're alone in the dark is the ghost of my hands.
For me, it's the fathom of your lips.
The way you kissed put a spell on me. Right now, as I write this, I'm sitting alone in a corner of the common showers with my neck sweating just a little bit and my heart beating in my throat, all because of that: the thought of your lips, so present and so sweet, making me ache all over. Should I be concerned, lil' witch? With the way you have control over my body even from far away? As if I were a puppet with strings only you can see, I'm aching for you and you're not even here. I'm hard, painfully so, because your picture and the distant echo of your giggles in my ear are enough to put me in a trance... the way you whisper my name when my hands are searching in menace ways the best path to get under your clothes and imprinted all over your skin... It's so difficult to write like this, sweetheart. Very Excited, Now I Caress Everywhere... d'you get it now? D'you see it?
I'm not there, but I can see you reading this. I can see your thighs clamping together in a pitiful attempt to not think about how I loved to tease the path to my favorite place, with my hands, my lips, my tongue. I'm gonna dream about it tonight, I can already see it. Gonna dream about your little whines, and how excited you got, while always being so good. Never asked for more. Never pushed for faster. Just took whatever I had to offer you, and asked in the sweetest way possible for what you wanted. "Jay." I miss that. The way you call me Jay when it's just us. No one's ever called me that before, and no one ever will again.
So do it, lil' witch. Touch yourself all you want when thinking about me. You had to ask for permission, didn't ya? (It's a rhetorical question. You never have to ask. I told ya long ago that from me, you can take and take without ever asking first, and yet you did, anyway.) I'm the luckiest bastard in this godforsaken and twisted world, all because of you.
I'll be there on the last weekend of this month, only for two days, but it'll be enough.
Just a taste of what'll come for us when all of this is over. A taste of you — that I miss so goddamn fuckin' much, Jesus Christ, sweetheart — and hours and hours of making you smile until it's imprinted in the walls of my brain, secured safe and sound in the labyrinth of my mind.
Wait for me, but never sadly. Keep up your studies, and focus on them just as I focus on work here whenever I have to. Talk to your friends, stay clear of those damn radios that only make you anxious and get you to bite your pretty nails, take Steve out for walks and keep that neighborhood in check, the two of you. I'll be back. I'll always come back to you.
With love in my heart (and because of your menace ways, my hand in my pants), I say goodbye for now,
V.E.N.I.C.E;
always yours, J.B.B.
Tumblr media
In a month and a half, Bucky has written and read more than in the past decade, at least.
You'd scold him for admitting such a thing so easily, but it was true.
There are a few letters exchanged by now—the U.S. Postal is doing their best, but can only do so much—but they're enough on their own. More than two, sometimes 3 pages long, filled with more post scrimptums than anyone else rather than you two would care to read and it's probably acceptable, and always signed with a lot of love.
It's a whole new world created between the two of you where childhood memories are shared, secret fears that neither Bucky nor you ever imagined talking about are laid on the table, and all of that written between paragraphs of gossip stories from home or the military base, and dirty dreams and wishes.
A mess. An entire conversation—one with topics that go back and forth since the first letter and short pieces of dialogue you two shared with important people; it's the best conversation he's ever had.
The longest. Deepest.
ㅤㅤㅤ"I love talking to you, Jay. If before I thought we were two peas in a pod, now I'm certified of it the same way I'm certain the Sun rises in the East to set in West. Can you see the same thing I do? Sometimes, it feels as if we're sittin' on our porch, on our living room armchairs, laughing to one another about the sweet memories or silly theories that only we find amusement in."
Through you, Bucky hears things his Ma is saying. Gets news from his two younger sisters, as well as realistic check-ups on Steve.
In one of your letters, you said, "you know, I'm starting to feel calluses. I dreamt of writing dark children's books for so long, and I think this is my punishment, in some sort of way. How in the hell am I having an argument with Steve and you through here? You two are wrong. We talked about this before and I'll say it as many times as needed: this whole 'trip to the future' thing is hiding something bigger, and it's cute that you two think that geniuses and billionaires are just giving us all of their biggest developments. Truly adorable," and it had sparked the favorite topic in his unit: the existence of aliens, or not.
You're there without being there.
Most of them don't even know about you, of course. Bucky's private, and likes to be that way.
Morita, Gabriel, and Dum Dum are exceptions—those tree men proved to be the exact type of company a fella needs when facing an untamed and suffocating darkness.
They teased Bucky about his alone 'poet' time. When the time in July finally came for the soldiers to be dismissed for a weekend home before being shipped to London, Morita bid him goodbye with, "and see if you do something else other than writing back home, eh, Sarge?"
Bucky would.
He barely gets any sleep, waiting for the time when he'll be sharing your presence and counting each minute of it, placing them in the same precious box he kept your words.
With his eyes closed, the smile sets in stone on his face.
To any onlookers that pass him by, Sgt. James Barnes looks at peace.
Tumblr media
Everything around him feels sharp and colorful.
Bucky almost feels surreal—his energy is humming underneath his skin, scorching as hot as the star that starts to rise.
He breathes in deeply as he steps out of the train, welcoming the smell of home.
Brooklyn is a hive of noise, so loud and different than anything he'd been used to these past weeks, and he strides in confidence towards his destinies.
For each of his people, Bucky told a story, but all for a good reason:
First, he has to visit his family. If he had told Steve about the time his train arrived, he'd be there without any regard for his sleep and comfort, and Bucky loved him too much to pull him out of bed before the sky had even lost its dark blue tones.
So first, he goes to the Barnes household.
Bringing bread, he steps inside his home almost feeling like the first rays of sunshine itself. Bucky's welcomed by the oldest feeling of attached to being safe and sound when Winnifred's arms wrap around him and she lets out a choked gasp at his name.
"James," is the first name he hears.
He's James during breakfast while he updates his mother to the best of his abilities, and fights the persistent sting in his eyes whenever the light illuminates her dark hairs, shining evidence in her new silver strands. He's James — but in a scolding tone — when his mother hears that he omitted from Steve his arrival time, and he's oh, James when his plans for later tonight are laid on the table in a soft, almost shy-spoken tone.
"I really like her, you know?" his mother tells him.
She's leaning against the sink with her ruby red robe, the soft slippers he bought for her as a present, and her hair held up in a bun. Bucky smiles at the approval, ignoring the heat in his cheeks that blossom at his mother's all-knowing gaze and the glint in her blue eyes. "I'm glad to hear that, ma."
Winnie does no effort to hide how pleased she is, and he has to admit that the teasing face he catches in reflections sometimes came from one person, and it wasn't his father. "Will I get to spend some time together with the two of you, at least?"
According to Bucky's plans, very little, because the time was as counted as their paychecks. "Well—today I'm gonna have lunch with Steve, then the three of us will meet up."
"Right."
"We'll probably hang around Stevie and I's apartment. Then we'll get ready to go to the Stark exhibition."
Winnie's are you serious look reminds Bucky that she never saw the three of you all hanging around together. "Really, James?"
"What?"
"You're gonna bring that poor, sweet boy to chaperone and be a third wheel at your date? Son," the title is another scolding and meant to serve as a tug in his ear.
He can't help it—Bucky laughs. "Mom," he teases right back. "That 'poor sweet boy' will be just fine." He snorted—there was nothing poor nor sweet about Steve. "The three of us are friends."
"And I'm not doubting that for a second. I'm just sayin'. Does he need to be there on the date? Does he even want to?"
"They already argued about this and the final conclusion was, apparently, that yes, he does." Bucky had to bite his lip at those bits in your last letter—even through ink and paper, he could see you and Steve as clear as daylight. "Steve and her are really good friends, Ma. She knows how much I miss him, and she claims that he's been even more annoyin' about stuff, mumbling shit—sorry, mumbling stuff about 'Bucky this' and 'Bucky that', so she ain't havin' it. Plus, it's not like the two of us can't behave. We never made Stevie feel left out."
His mother chuckled. "For some reason I find it hard to believe that you two are not the grossest thing together."
"What?!" his laughter intensifies. "You never saw us together."
"And whose fault is that, hm? Hm?" Winnie's look pierces through him as the last drops of her coffee seep to the cup, and she grabs her cup like a ninja, with eyes still glued on him and her head shaking, no need for a single glance to where her hands are going. His mother sips, and Bucky's laughter subsidies to a smile. "Well, I'm glad you she's generous enough to share ya." Her whole face softens. "Bubba's right. Steve's been missing ya a lot."
Bubba. Bucky forgets how to breathe for a single second. "Bubba?"
The name that his mother calls the girls—Bubs, Bubba, baby.
Winnie smiles behind the cup, and he's not sure if her happiness is directed at him because of how he looks, or at the whole situation. "Yes, James. The woman who's been comin' to my house for two months now, havin' almost daily cups of tea with me to talk about life and the perils of life is, to your surprise and delight, my Bubba. Are you really surprised?" Her next chuckle is as sweet as her coffee must be. "I like her. I told ya already."
"I can see that."
His mother moves to sit in the chair in front of him. "And you haven't answered my question yet, young man." She crosses her legs and offers her coffee for him to sip, which he does. Gods, this woman is a bee. He returns it with a grimace.
"Right, as I was sayin', today we're going to the Stark fair, the three of us. Eat a hot dog, be annoyin' at the square, drink a couple of beers. Then tomorrow, uh—"
"You two love birds will be together all day, yes, I can imagine."
He's thankful his mother saves him from saying the embarrassing bits, at least. "I have to go back on Monday."
"What time?"
"Thirteen hundred train."
"So there's time for breakfast?"
His smile returns. "Yeah, Ma. There's time for breakfast together."
Across the table, his smile seems to be reflected back at him. It looks a little older, with more crinkles around the corners and kissing the side of the eyes, but the same smile nonetheless. "Now I'm happy." She sips the coffee, humming in pleasure. "And what's so interesting at this fair?"
"Was that Bucky's voice?! Ma! Is Bucky here?!"
Ah, that screeching tone.
The second name he hears—Bucky.
Screamed at the top of her lungs by Rebecca, and later by a still sleepy Dorca, Bucky's greets with open arms his young rascals and spins them in the air, so lucky to have their laughter be the only sound he hears once again.
He does his best that whole morning to imprint every second spent with them like a tattoo in the malleable muscle of his brain. He wants Rebecca's slightly nasal and bossy tone to be of easy access when he's far away. He wants to not forget how long Dorca's hair is getting, or how much his mother still has control of this entire house at the tip of her fingers as if she's a powerful spider whose webs are invisible, but stronger than the eyes behold.
Before he leaves, he takes them for ice cream. Bucky asks all sorts of questions, trying to squeeze as much as he can in only a few hours, knowing that no amount of time feels enough nowadays.
Later, there's Buck.
"Hey, Buck."
It's a second homecoming.
This one, it tastes like a little bit of everything. "Hey, Stevie." The tiny frame that fits in his embrace as if it were a puzzle piece, it smells like childhood and teenage years all mushed together. "Glad to see you're in one piece."
It's a jab to the fact that his best friend and soulmate was about to get into a fight just seconds before Bucky finds him, and it was met with an ocean-cold stare. Blue meets blue, and Bucky can only laugh.
"Oh, shut up," Steve rolls his eyes. "I hate that I let them go—fucking bastards."
"Hey, hey; you can't fight 'em—"
"Can't fight 'em all, I know, punk, I know." Steve sighs, but when he looks at Bucky again, his gaze softens. Something clicks, and Steve seems to come back to himself. "You sound like Father Chase," his snorted laugh means it's Bucky's time to scoff.
"Maybe because he had a point?"
"Always did. Doesn't change the facts."
"And what are the facts?"
"The facts, Buck, are that you're a softie," before he can come up with an answer, Bucky's frame is pushed back by the force of it—Steve doesn't go for it, he lunges for another hug, body crashing against Bucky's. "'m glad you're back."
The facts must be true, if only when it came to Steve, at least. "Punk," he mutters against soft blond strands. Bucky hugs back just as hard, and they let go at the exact same time.
A single look is shared, and then they nod.
Secret conversations aren't only spilled in acronyms.
I'm glad to be back, his nod says.
While Steve's says, Now we're alright.
They were. For now, everything was alright.
"You get your orders?" Steve starts walking in the direction that Bucky's heart was tugging in—the direction of your apartment.
He follows, putting one arm around Steve's shoulders. "Sure did. The 107th. Sgt. James Barnes, shipping out on Monday for England."
"Sargeant, huh?"
Under Steve's appraising eyes, Bucky's always felt a little bit analyzed. "Yeah." No inch of him went unnoticed. "I'll do my best to take care of all of them." An artist's eye on you could be an unnerving thing.
It soothed when he smiled. "Of course you will, Buck." Often, Bucky wondered if Steve had any idea of how much power his opinion yielded. "You always do your best." A smile of his alone, and Bucky felt more approved than any superior's highest praise. "I—" he hut himself short, but Bucky knew what he swallowed down. I just wish I could help. "I'm happy for ya."
Always so good, "thank you, Steve." Not a day would go by when Bucky would let it pass the opportunity to thank god for gifting him with Steven Gran Rogers. "Now—" he looked up, seeing your building approach. "You sure she has no idea I'm here?"
Another roll of eyes—Steve could one day get cursed with the sight of his brain forever. "I'm starting to think you're spending too much time with your comrades. You forgot already who's had your six since forever?"
"Awn, Stevie—don't be jealous of my smelly, grumpy men. You'll always be my number one."
"You're ridiculous. Of course she doesn't know. Lady thinks you'll be here on the 4pm train, just like we talked about. She's probably still sleepin' 'cause of her late-night shift."
"Another one?!"
A scoff. "You try to tell Lady what to do and see how it goes. I already know my place of speakin', and it ain't that one."
"God, how on earth did I end up with the two more stubborn people to ever walk this goddamn planet? No, really—"
"Oh, because you're a beacon of flexibility."
"—you two are made from a single mold, and whoever used it on you first, and then her, saw their mistake two heartbeats too late, then broke the damn mold 'cause they knew if they made more, it'd mean world domination."
There's a single second of pause, and then Bucky turns to the amused gaze staring at him. Steve with a hand on his hip and a smirk on his face will always look the same. "You've gotten more dramatic. That's a fuckin' wonder." He turns around laughing to himself and shaking his head. "Go say 'morning' to her. I'm gonna go get tomato sauce, we ran out of it yesterday."
The implication that Steve's been hanging around more registers in all the happy places of Bucky's brain, but everything's washed away by the flood that it's the sight of it—
your window.
Bucky's entire world does the thing: it tunnels.
The same rounded, small rocks that he used on the first date still litter Mrs. Simyl's vase. He picks one, weights it in his hand, and with a heart-thumping loud in his chest, he throws it to your window.
A peck.
KNOCK
Bucky waits: one, two, three heartbeats.
He swallows the lump that rises in his throat.
The sun already rose, but it comes up again.
At least, for him.
When your head pops out in the window, Bucky swears it does.
Like a sniper's barrel, your eyes know exactly where it goes on instinct. They find him underneath your window pulled by the gravity that—with a quick check on his hummingbird of a heart, it's confirmed—still there.
North, meet South.
"Jay?"
"Hi, sweetheart."
Your face disappears, taking everything with you. The light, the warmth, the strenght in the gravitational hold of your beautiful eyes and gaze—as soon as they disappear, Bucky's spell is broken, and his feet gain life.
He knows you're rushing to your door the same way he rushes up the stairs.
He's glad the uniform stayed in his suitcase, safely tucked in his and Steve's apartment. He'd sweat from all the heat he's emmanating, and probably drench you in an ocean before he could get a single kiss.
Bucky's pulled by his North, and when he sees the familiar sight of your door, it's already swinging open.
"Oh, god." There's a breach in time. A break in the fabric of space. One moment, he's a few steps away from you, and the next thing he sees and knows, he has an arm full of you.
"Bucky."
That's him. James, Bucky, Buck, Jay. From all of his names, now's the only time when all of his cells feel slotted into place. Bucky's heard every one of his names, all the ones that matter, and now he is whole.
His voice evades him.
Inside his arms, he's aware that you're shaking, even if the notion takes a moment to register—as it should. He's shaking, too; vibrating, is more like it, because he's here, and now that he can breathe, his body seems incapable of doing so.
He inhales deeply, even if it's all trembling.
Your smell is different from any other. Bucky would recognize in a crowd of millions. He'd find it blindfolded, he was certain of it.
If they made him forget his name, Bucky would be Nobody, but even as Nobody, he would know that this is the scent of his person.
Citrine. Mint leaves. With a deeper inhale, he catches the underlying tone—vanilla. The purest and sweetest form, used in the lotion you put all over your body after showering sometimes, mixed with the unique and personal scent of just you. Vanilla has a taste on you. It's sweet, but not sticky.
It's summer.
Bucky is in love.
When the pull that holds you together seems to loosen its threads, you and Bucky pull back at the same time.
Not too far—neither one is able to go further than millimeters for now, and in the back of his mind, he's thankful that Steve gave the two of you the time you needed.
Just like he and Steve clung to each other like a lifeline for embarrassing minutes that neither one chose to talk about, you two are roped together, and going too far is impossible for now.
The only space is a breath of air separating your heads.
Bucky pulls an arm up, crowding your head inside his forearm. His palm spreads on the top of your head, holding you there.
His eyes find yours, swimming and spilling over.
Your lips tremble when you speak. "You told me you were getting here later," he feels your hand making fists out of his white shirt, resting on the curve of his lower back. After a sniffle, you add, "'m gonna kill you and Blondie," and then, you nuzzle your nose on his.
He laughs. Bucky truly is home. "He was just followin' my orders, lil' witch. No killing, please."
"You two planned behind my back," you go on, sounding small and choked still. His crybaby that never cried before.
Bucky's arm cage around your head got a little tighter, and his arm around your waist pulled you impossibly closer. "Don't cry," he pleaded in a whisper. "It was to surprise ya."
He thinks you're beautiful even with wet, rosy cheeks. "I'm surprised," your laugh came out choked, and you sniffled again. Bucky accepted the tears despite how much his hand itched to wipe them away, and clean your cheeks. Lower, and softer, so much softer than he was used to hearing any voice, you say, "You're actually here..."
The awe in your voice is a sentiment he can understand. "I am."
"I'm not dreaming."
His forehead stays touching yours as he shakes his head, and while it's an uncomfortable angle, but he likes it for now. "No. Seems neither am I." It's the closeness his heart aches for, and achieving it soothes the wrinkles in his soul.
You, on the other hand, seem to need a better angle—your head pulls back against his head, gaining a couple more inches of distance, and his body moves along with yours.
When you're far enough to look at his whole face, Bucky's breath is sucked out of his body.
He's here.
"I missed you, Jay."
And so are you.
Bucky smiles and dives.
Your eyes are closed, lips waiting for his.
If angels sing, this is it. Angels, a choir, or maybe just the white noise of his head subduing, opening up space for this—your lips on his are a single drop falling in a pond, creating ripples until the surface is a still mirror.
Neither one of you moves too much. There isn't back and forth, or any deepening of the kiss. On the contrary.
It is what it is.
A sweet sound of hello. A press of lips, two pieces meeting together, fitting in as one.
When the air he stored runs out and Bucky gasps in your lips, he hears your pleased hum.
You smile, breathing in through your nose. "'m so happy," you inform him.
Bucky laughs. He breathes out, and kisses you again, but messier this time. Rougher. He wants to taste your tongue, wants your oxygen in his veins. He nibbles, bites, sucks on your lips; Bucky finally gets his tongue intertwining with yours, walks you back inside your place, and closes the door with his foot even if somewhere in the back of his mind, he's aware that Steve will come passing by any minute now.
The kiss is enough for now.
A single taste—a sip of a galleon he'll drink whole later tonight, bathe himself, drown in; Bucky pulls back and is pleased to note how pink you look and the puffiness in your lips.
You two exist in silence for a moment, just breathing each other in, and then,
"You ready for a day with Stevie and I?" he asks.
Your smile is enough of an answer. "Where's Blondie?"
"Probably comin' right up."
"'Kay. Cool." You press your lips on his again, melting and humming softly; all the little sounds he's missed. The hums, and ahs you make when melting in his arms that he's taking back to the base with him. "'m gonna change."
"Cool. Let's go."
Your laughter as well—he's pocketing that, and keeping it close to his heart. "That wasn't an invite."
"Was it not? Damn, I could've sworn it was, miss. My bad."
"D'you think I can get any 'changing' done with you in the room?"
Although the question is asked amidst laughter, you seem okay with Bucky glued on your back and stepping where you do, channeling his inner cat. "I have no clue. We'll figure it out."
"And if Steve arrives?"
A cackle from him—you're the witch, but Bucky laughs like one at that joke. "I'm sure your new best friend can find himself just fine in your house. Wasn't he here last night?"
"How d'you know that?"
"He said you two ran out of tomato sauce. He went to get some to cook lunch for us."
"You mean for you to cook lunch for us. We're just sittin' there lookin' pretty and talking your ear off."
"Sweetheart, that sounds marvelous to me."
Tumblr media
True as he said to his mother, there is no third-wheeling or chaperoning.
In the same kitchen as his two favorite people, Bucky has one of the loveliest afternoons of his entire life. In fact, his Saturday is so good that Bucky marks the date in the calendar in his mind — the 24th of July — as some special daybreak.
He fits right in. Between the jokes that you and Steve now share and he has no idea what the roots of them are, next to your attentive, hawk-like eyes that never seem to leave him, snuggled by the much smaller frame of a friend who still looks up to him as someone good.
It's a pity that Bucky has no superpowers.
He would fit an entire month right there, in the afternoon reserved for the three of you.
By the time the sun is setting down and you three feel the need to clean up for the exhibition, the trio has already covered every base:
The military. Family. Neighbors (both the annoying as well as the good ones). Steve's stubbornness, and then yours. England. Bucky's squadron, with the specifics of each man he claimed to like.
Bucky laughed. He sobered up—those coal, slimy tentacles of war tried sneaking their way to the front.
Impossible to be done with you and Steve present.
When Bucky comments about separating — 'Steve and I can go to the apartment to get ready then come pick you up, whatcha say?' — he gets the same attitude from both.
"Why would I go stay alone at my place?" you ask.
Steve nods along. "Just wait here 'till she picks up her overnight bag and she'll come with us."
"Yeah. Steve never takes longer than ten minutes to get ready, anyway."
"True. I say Lady and I will be ready before you are," Steve adds with a knowing smile.
You laugh with him. "Oh—that's for sure."
"Hey!" Bucky loves to see you two teaming up. It's the kind of thing he'd like to see forever if he has any say in it. "I don't take that long."
To that, he hears many arguments.
"Oh my god, who is he talking to?" you ask, turning your gaze to Steve.
"I don't know. He's actin' like we don't know him," Steve snorts.
"It's crazy. Did he forget the times we had to wait for him?"
"Many times."
You glance back at Bucky, all smiles and daring. "You think you can hurry up tonight, princess?"
It does something to him. He hates that it does—and he sees and hears it in Steve's laugh that it's obvious, too, that the stupid teasing nickname pulls a string or two of his, and he huffs away from you both. "Ungrateful duo of firecrackers, I swear to god."
"Oh, c'mon!" it's you, rushing to catch up to him, laughing the same as Steve.
"Yeah, c'mon—"
"Don't you dare, Steven," he cuts him off before he can use it too, and it gets only more laughter.
"You didn't answer her question, you know," Steve comments when he catches up to Bucky and you.
He rolls his eyes. "I'll speed up. 's not like I have to look my best—not when you two aren't doing anythin' to deserve it."
"Damn, Jay. Not even a little bit of cologne for me?" you pout.
The gall. The audacity. He huffs and puffs, and turns his eyes away from you. "I'll think about it." He's a joke. Bucky's going to spend at least triple the time in the bathroom, but it's okay, because he'll come out to you and Steve waiting for him.
Tumblr media
"Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the World of Tomorrow!"
In his uniform, Bucky feels oddly in place.
He's pulled by the sleeves by either you, or Steve. "C'mon, c'mon, Buck, it's starting!" you squeal.
Willing and pliant, that's his role for the whole night. With a smile plastered on his face, and a giddiness he hasn't felt since he was a kid. Not that he was ever this happy in his childhood—this is a new, shinier form of happiness.
It happens because he's in the right place. With the right people.
Also, he paid very close attention to your eyes when he left the bathroom an hour ago.
When Bucky saw that glint, a very familiar one to him, his body responded. He felt your gaze on him. On his uniform. The tension that for a second became almost like humidity in the air, it hung for a few seconds, and it made Steve go to the kitchen with yet another roll of his eyes.
"I'm... gonna go drink a glass of water. You two—yikes. Be quick. The eye fucking is gross."
"Such a gentleman, Steve," you joked, but the lack of eye contact with him kind of ruined it for you.
Bucky approached you, walking in slow and deliberate steps. He allowed you to look at every inch. Feeling it was good, too—your eyes ranking up and down his body was almost a physical touch, and it made the soft spreading of your palm on his chest warmer.
"You look..." the words left you, leaving your lips parted and pink. "Very nice."
Not often did Bucky feel bashful. "Thanks, sweetheart." A rare gem such as this needed to be polished, even if it was perfect in its raw form. Bucky leaned in closer, barely containing his smile, and with his mouth nearing your ears, he whispered. "I have a feeling it's not my hair and my perfume that you like."
The intake of your breath was loud from this proximity. "Jay..."
That whisper alone was enough for him. He whispered your name back and kissed your temple with a smile. "Save all of those thoughts for later, 'kay? All of 'em. I wanna hear everything that's goin' around on that pretty head of yours."
Breathless, you whispered, "'kay'," and then nuzzled your face against his neck before pulling away. The flush was high on your cheeks. Redder than before, and due to more than just makeup. "You really do look handsome," that whisper made his insides tangle, and he enjoyed it.
"'m glad you think so."
That part was only forgotten when he saw the automobiles.
Even if Steve hid it better than you and Bucky, the reality hit you three all the same. Three nerds in a science fairy served for more than entertainment; it meant a night to be remembered.
Bucky gets lost in hours of conversation.
You three see everything. Even the dance floor is forsaken in the name of reading about stuff, theorizing about what is left out of the exposition, and laughing with each other as the ideas that bounce between you three get wilder each time.
It's almost midnight when you three make your way to the apartment.
Bucky is in a tipsy state. Steve—well, his tolerance is not the best, and mixing sugar with alcohol is a bad idea. It's all good though, because you hate the taste of it, and walking between the two of them like a beacon of balance and normalcy is a thing you did before.
Steve's hand hooks through your shoulder, into Bucky's nape.
He talks about the war. The human condition—Mrs. Georgia, from downstairs.
"She's been cryin' every night or two. It's—sad. Loud. God, I'm so glad I'm gonna black out tonight."
Bucky ends up taking off Steve's shoes while you tuck his sleeping body into bed.
He looks up at you, and sees the strand of your hairstyle escaping the pins, framing your face into something more suited for the faint yellow lights of late-night times and the Moonlight outside. "At least he waited 'till he was home," Bucky reasons.
You smile at him. "At least he didn't puke."
"Touché."
Once Steve Rogers is safe and sound, you turn your body to Bucky, both hands placed on your hips.
Here it comes, thinks Bucky...
"Safe and sound."
He smiles. "That he is." Bucky knew he'd be. It wasn't his first time hearing this.
He extends one hand in the air and is delighted when you catch it.
"Let's go?"
It's barely a whisper.
You nod at him, fitting your body under one of his arms as you walk out of the room. In the quiet magnitude of this hour into the night, you whisper, "I should've let you buy me cotton candy."
Bucky closes the door of the room holding back his laughter. "I'll make you scrambled eggs when we get to the hotel."
"Will you?"
"I will."
"I don't know if I trust your tipsy self to a stove."
Bucky groaned, pulling you even closer to him to bury his nose into your hair. "I'll be a hundred percent by the time we make it there."
The conversation goes on in hushed whispers as you two walk, ignoring all the other rare figures you see walking in the streets too, not on purpose—on the fact that it's a new world, already.
As soon as the apartment door was locked behind him, Bucky's world shifted in its axis; everything becomes you.
He's barely aware of what he's answering.
The only thing he knows it's that you're teasing him—he pays attention to the blush he sees forming on your cheeks once you feel his gaze so locked on your lips. He laughs under his breath when you stutter, and then laughs harder when you poke him in the ribs for laughing in the first place.
He feels how warm you are despite how chill the night has become.
Inside his jacket—his uniform, you've found heat.
The hotel room he located for the night is not far from your house itself, and it's one of the most decent ones still inside his budget. Rooms that are nice and clean, plus a decent breakfast.
It was far from what you deserved, but Bucky had years of work ahead of him before he was able to afford that.
When he enters, you take a little spin around.
Bucky puts both yours and his duffel bags on the floor.
He lets you walk around, and take your heels off, his eyes following you.
When they finally land on him, Bucky can almost see the air that stands between you.
Your voice is as low as a whisper. He hears it loud and clear in the deep quiet of the night. "You're not gonna cook for me, are you?"
He's kicking his shoes off as he shakes his head.
Bucky's eyes are so attentive, that he catches the shivers that run through you.
"Tomorrow," he promises.
Your fingers graze the long sleeve of the dress until it hooks on the shoulder pad, but Bucky hums negatively.
The movement stops.
He takes his steps until he's an inch away from you, and breathes in deeply.
"'m pretty sure that's my job."
It was. One of the best parts of it, now that Bucky paid close attention to it. His hands removed the fabric from your skin, exposing it to the light entering the room through the window, and in those moments, Bucky managed to fit in hours.
Every inch of you being exposed to him, it was like he painted it somewhere in his mind, guarding that canvas in a special slide of his subconscious.
When all your clothes were on the floor, he continued his ministrations of sewing all your measurements to memory.
Bucky's hands — palm spread flat, his fingertips, his knuckles — made work of you, while you removed his clothes in return.
Once naked, he could pass on to the next stage:
"Wanna remember how you taste, sweetheart."
The shaky gasp you let out when his words met your ear was too fast for him to catch, but everything else that followed fell into Bucky's lips.
They were wide, hand-made nets, built only for one purpose: to fish every part of you that was delectable.
Bucky started with close-mouthed kisses and ended up almost devouring you. Swallowing you whole.
There were hours between that first and last stage, though.
At first, everything was slow.
Bucky had been so preoccupied back at the base with whether the first time you two fucked would be the same as the ones from before or not, that he missed the entire point.
It had always been great. The connection between you two always started with more than just physical, and when it got to that point, you two were already lost in each other.
This was immersion.
Hearing your tender, then groaned, and later broken moans of "Jay" counted as his sea.
Your eager touches were current, guiding him in.
This was far from fucking. There was nothing crude about the first time—there was only love.
Bucky never made love before, but he understood why not when your body unfolded in front of him. When your legs open wide and everything blossoms, Bucky has full comprehension of what a feeling can do to two people.
Not just any feeling. This.
Bucky's a drunk man.
It's only his grace that you're as far gone as him. As Dionysus blessed—when Bucky's fingers intertwine with yours to replace your fisted hands in the sheets with his own instead, Bucky's gaze catches yours.
He sees the warm and inviting openness of black in your eyes.
Bucky kisses and leaves his feeling all over his path.
As overwhelming as it is, making love is also beautiful. This type of surrender required a level of trust and blinded faith that he's not sure he even had before, but he finds it right there, in bed with you.
The first time is slow.
Both of you taking your time to marvel at how in sync you are—to marvel at how wet one makes the other, and how unashamed both of you feel in touching each and every part.
He's never had anyone touching him the way you do. Bucky gets your lips leaving prints from his face, his chest, arms, and legs, all the way to the curve above his ass.
As he opens you up with his fingers, Bucky keeps watching all the emotions passing through your face.
The first time you make love, in gentle, long, and agonizing steps.
When he pushes inside at last, he can almost swear he hears violins.
Or maybe it's your nails digging at his back—your pained, blissed whines. "Jay."
He's whining, too—your name spills from his lips as much as air does, and you two move not to reach an end, but to feel what is connecting you at that exact time.
When the words leave his lips, Bucky can see them traveling in the air before being sucked in by yours. "I love you, sweetheart."
Out of his lips, into thick, warm air, and falling...
You gasp, closing your eyes for a moment, and Bucky tastes your tears when he's gifted back with, "I love you too, James." It makes him smile, shaking from head to toe like a leaf. "I truly do."
"I know. I feel it."
"It w-was never like—like this. Never before."
An understatement, if he ever heard one. Bucky could feel your heartbeat as if it was his own; it was more than just his cock buried to the hilt inside of your warm cunt, feeling every construction and high of your pleasure, or the vibrations of your moans and the pleas for his name that seemed to reverberate all through his being—
"This—" he bucked his hips harder, just to feel the waves of pleasure cursing through you, and laughed with his lips ghosting your mouth. "This is—oh—it's making love, sweetheart."
"Jay!"
Bucky was unsure of how long it lasted.
Could've been hours, or just a few, blissful minutes.
From the thick layer of sweat that covered your bodies by the time you both came undone, his guess tips more towards the first.
It's almost like seeing a visible thread being cut—when the orgasms hit your bodies, one right after the other, Bucky collapses his back in the bed, carrying your body along with him.
That's where you two stay, for a few moments longer.
"Were we whispering?" you ask.
He likes when your lips are on his skin. They're warm, and he has their shape memorized now. "I think we were." If he was a better artist, he'd draw them. "D'you want me to cook for you now?" he asks with a chuckle.
You tilt your head up, take a second to think it over, then answer with a simple smile.
So Bucky cooks.
He slaps your hand when you try putting on his white t-shirt laying on the ground, commenting, "No need for that at all, c'mon'," and watches with the same pleased and hungry eyes as you stay leaning on the wall as he uses the small stove for a quick meal.
After that, there are other times.
There's the desperate round, and there's the fucking, and the unexpected, and the lazy, 'we're too tired to move but still horny enough for this' moment where he just lays in bed with his hands between your legs, touching your pussy even if he's not actively doing anything.
Bucky washes you with careful hands and a lot of tenderness in the shower, running the cloth and the soap through your marked, sensitive skin as slowly as his sleepiness allows.
"We're gonna have a good day today," you tell him.
Given the whispering tone and slurred words, Bucky assumes you're almost sleeping, too. "Yup. All day to ourselves. Dinner with Steve. Come back here to sleep well."
"I love you, James."
Bucky would never get tired of hearing those words in your voice. He pulls your body close, kissing even if he'll taste soap and warm water. "I love you more." He whispers your name, kisses you again, and turns off the shower head before cold water sprays on his perfect day.
Nothing about today is cold.
Bucky's warm. While you may carry the elegance and magic of the Moon, you're his Sun.
His North, and his Sun, which would always guide him home, for hot and perfect days like this that remind him of why it's good to be alive and to feel all of this love.

Like literally, Civil War Bucky was my favorite honestly.

Heavy rain poured down as Beatrice stared out her window at the grey New York sky, still bright despite the deluge. Her window was open to the elements and a cool breeze ruffled the chocolate curls that framed her face. She took a sip from her mug, the tea warming her from the inside as she flipped through a book. Sighing in contentment, she was enjoying the ambiance of the day. It was a welcome relief from the usual chaos that could be heard throughout her apartment building.
However, the relaxing atmosphere was short-lived.
A loud banging at her door made Beatrice jump, hot liquid spilling out of the cup and over her hand. She grumbled to herself before standing, smoothing out the wrinkles of her skirt and wiping the tea away with a towel from the nearby sink. Another knock rattled the apartment and she hurried to look through the peephole into the hall, groaning as she saw what stood on the other side. She wrenched open the door and fixed the visitor on the other side with a stern glare.
He was dripping with rainwater, droplets running down his cheekbones and nose and over a set of perfectly pink lips. A puddle was starting to collect around his feet and she could see every damp footprint he'd left from the beginning of the hall to her door, which was directly across from his own.
"Bucky Barnes, the next time you knock on my door like you've got a death wish," Beatrice said dryly, a stark contrast to the soaking wet man in front of her. "I'll make it come true."
Her neighbor rolled his eyes, the baby blue of them electric despite the dim hallway light. Beatrice refused to admit that she could feel the sparks from where she stood.
"Come on, doll, I'm freezing my ass off out here," Bucky whined. "I lost our key."
"Well, that sounds like a big problem for you. I'm sure you can muster the brain power to solve the case."
Beatrice attempted to close the door, huffing when one soaked brown loafer poked out and stopped her progress.
"I know you've got a spare," he continued, raising a dark eyebrow before he smirked. "And you don't want Steve catching a cold, do ya?"
Bucky gestured over his shoulder at his roommate and best friend. Steve stood equally soaked to the bone, his slender frame shivering. He gave her a small wave and the corner of her mouth turned up before she looked back at Bucky. For a brief moment, she imagined what it would be like to punch the stupid, sexy grin off his face.
"Whaddya say, Busy Bea?" he smiled down at her, knowing he'd found her weak spot and won. "Gonna help a fella out?"
Bea sighed loudly as she let both soaked men in. As Steve passed her, shivering like a leaf tree.
"Barnes, you know better than to drag Steve through this weather."  Bea scolded the man with the brightest, bluest eyes she's ever seen that she could get so easily lost in, at the same time they belonged to the most infuriating person she's ever met.
The boys took a seat at her small kitchen table as she rummaged through her drawer looking for the key they’d given her to their apartment in case of emergencies. She heard a scoff come from the table and turned her head their way.
“I didn’t drag him through anything. If he hadn’t been picking fights in the first place we’d have been home already.”
She found the key under a mess of papers in the back of the drawer and folded her palm around it as she looked over her shoulder to level Steve with a glare over her shoulder, slowly turning on her heels and facing his shaking form, a perfectly arched brow aimed at him.
"Is that true, Rogers?"
Steve had the good grace to look guilty.
“Honestly, you’re such a knucklehead,” she sighed, walking back over to them and sliding the key across the tabletop.
“There’s still some tea in the pot. Warm yourselves up before you go back,” Bea ordered, nodding to the teapot on the table before leaving the room to grab a couple of towels.
She padded to the bathroom, snatching two fresh towels that were hanging off of the rack. Bea paused when she heard Steve.
"We don't have to get tea. She terrifies me," Steve whispered. "Can we just go?"
Bea smirked to herself. She should terrify him. Someone had to knock Rogers down a peg, and if the guys who were beating the hell out of him couldn't, she definitely could. He always picked fights he could never win. Bucky laughed.
"Bea? Bea terrifies you? She's a pussycat, Rogers. Sit the hell down. Where are her cups--"
Suddenly, something smashed and Bea hung her head. She snarled, storming out of the bathroom. The towels were clutched in her fist like she was wringing his neck. Bucky stared up at her with a big smile as he pushed the broken ceramic aside with his foot so that it was hidden underneath the cupboard. Steve rolled his eyes and got to his feet, heading for the small cupboard where she kept the broom.
"Hiya, Bea!" Bucky chirped.
She glared at him.
"I let you in for two minutes and you're destroying my apartment?!"
"I didn't do anything!" Steve yelped from behind his friend.
Bucky raised his hands in mock defense, a cocky smile still lingering on his face.
"Destroying is a strong word. There was a crack in that cup, I was doing you a favor."
"Barnes, I'll put a crack in those pretty teeth of yours," she snapped as she lunged for him and Steve got between the two. For once, he was stopping a fight instead of starting one.
"Okay, let's just calm down. I'll clean this up, Buck, you sit the hell down. Bea, Buck is sorry about the cup."
"No, I ain't," Bucky sighed as he plunked down in her chair.
Bea shot him a look, teeth grinding as the corner of Bucky’s mouth twitched into a smirk. His eyes shone, crinkling at the corners and the moment he winked, Bea broke.
She glanced away, struggling to hide her smile and Bucky chuckled, something deep and rumbly. As much as she wished it didn’t, the sound set her stomach fluttering.
“Gotcha, sweetheart.”
“I don’t know why I put up with you two,” she huffed as Steve finished cleaning and poured them all a cup of tea, “thank you, Steve. Although if you think you’re off the hook just because you cleaned up Bucky’s mess for a change, you’re sorely mistaken.”
"Aw, come on, doll," Bucky grinned at her, "I did you a favour, you need new cups anyways - half the ones in your cupboard are cracked or chipped anyways!"
Steve shot him a warning look, "Bucky..."
Bea's lips thinned, sure it was just a cup, and yeah, maybe he was right about needing to replace them, but they were her Grandma's cups.
She didn't say anything about that though, the last thing she needed was to give his stupid handsome face more fodder.
“Don’t touch anything else,” she hissed in Bucky’s direction, taking a seat at the table. She wrapped her hands around her mug and took a sip of tea. “I was having a remarkably peaceful day until you two showed up.”
Bucky’s laugh rumbled through the small kitchen. Bea didn’t want to look in his direction- she didn’t want to give him the satisfaction- but she knew there was a twinkle of mischief in those baby blues eyes.
She refused to look up from her cup as his shoes clicked across the laminate kitchen floor, instead intently stirring in a spoonful of sugar. His presence behind her was obvious, a new warmth radiating off his body as Bucky's clothes dried and his mind started to heat up. He leaned down, his hand coming to grip the back of her seat, and let his lips brush the shell of her ear.
"Maybe we can come up with a way for me to make it up to you," Bucky whispered, a grin faint on his lips, and suddenly Bea's nerve endings were on fire.
She pushed down the flare of desire, instead giving him a sarcastic laugh.
"Oh really?" Bea chuckled, tilting her head back to look at Bucky. "Is that what you told Dot? Or Louise? Or Alice? Steve, am I missing anyone?"
She looked across the table at the blonde who had a mouthful of tea cakes.
"Oh, there was Annabelle too," he snapped in the air, crumbs falling from his grin. "And Margar-"
"Alright! Jesus..." Bucky grumbled over top of her, the moment between them broken.
Bea huffed out a breath. “What, did I hit something?” She stood up abruptly, causing the chair to screech in a high-pitched noise as she glared at him.
“Ouch,” Steve whispered, dipping the piece of what was left of the cake into the tea.
She tilted her head, lips in a firm line as she playfully patted his puffed up chest. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t make deals with the devil.”
With that, she walked to the sink and grabbed a washcloth to wipe off the crumbs and spilled tea on Steve’s side of the table, trying her best to ignore the warmth that spread through her body when the brown haired man left a low and rumbling chuckle. Steve’s tiny voice of I’m sorry was at least helpful to get rid of that feeling this time.
''Doll…'' he started. Her head snapped in his direction where she watched him struggle to continue his sentence as if he was at a loss for words. For as long as she knew Bucky, he was always very quick with his wit. Annoyingly so. She couldn't make sense of the feelings he invoked in her. As much as she wanted to hate the reaction her body had because of him, she relished it.
Bea's eyes scanned his face as she waited for his next words. His crystal blue eyes stared back at her, brows furrowed in thought and a slight pout gracing his plump lips. She admired the wet fallen curls on his forehead, the tick of his jaw as he stood there as if his brain were replaying her refusal over and over.
Bucky let out a huff of breath and walked towards her, his figure towering over her. He placed his hands on the counter on either side of her and looked down.
"How about if I take ya dancin' tonight?"
Bea’s heart stuttered, there was no way he could mean…
Determined not to let him see how much he got to her she gave him a smirk.  Raising her chin and peering over Bucky’s shoulder she caught Steve’s eye.
“Whaddaya say, Steve? A night out on Bucky’s dime?”
“Doll, you know that’s not what I-“ he retorted but was cut off by Steve’s enthusiastic agreement.
"Oh!" Steve yelped, eyes wide. "Can we go to Blue Note? There's this girl there with hu--"
Bucky clapped his hands together, trying to contain his annoyance behind a big, fake smile while Steve fell silent, cheeks burning at his almost humiliating outburst. Bea knew she hit Barnes where it hurt as he stared her down, his eyes piercing hers.
"Sounds great." He tried to control the growl in his voice. Shivers rushed up her spine. "Stevie? Let's go. Bea's gotta make herself look pretty for me."
"I'll be sure to wear my finest paper bag, Barnes," she quipped as she leaned back in her chair and the boys made their way to the kitchen doorway.
Steve was the first to disappear while Bucky lingered, leaning up against the doorframe. His eyes scanned her body and she held his gaze despite the blush that was growing on her cheeks.
"You're a clever one, doll. What's the matter? Afraid of that old Barnes charm?"
"You're about as charming as a damn roach," she bit back.
He grinned, dragging his tongue across his bottom lip.
"I'll pick you up at 6:00. Sharp."
With a wink, he was gone, and the front door shut. Bea heaved a sigh, slumping down in her chair. She glanced at the clock, already knowing she had an hour to get ready. And that jerk was going to be right on time.
She did what she could with her hair in the little time she had and applied rouge carefully to her lips and cheeks.
Not that she was prettying herself up for Bucky. She liked to look presentable for a night out on the town as it was, and it had nothing to do with the cheeky, charismatic boy next door. No sir.
When Bucky’s telltale knock on her door sounded out at six on the dot, she opened it with a cheerful smile. Only for it to drop when she realised just one of her troublesome neighbours stood on her stoop.
“Where’s Steve?”
His tongue swiped across his bottom lip as his eyes trailed her figure, "has a cough from being out in the rain, so it looks like it's just going to be the two of us, sweetheart"
Bea sucked in a deep breath and swallowed thickly, grabbing her shawl from the hook beside the door and brushing past the tall brooding man, "whatever you’re thinking is going to happen, Barnes, you can forget it. I am not one of those floozies you bring home every night."
When a deep chuckle came from behind her, mixed with the clicking of his shoes as he jogged to catch up, Beatrice had to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from smiling. No matter how much charm he poured on, she had to remember exactly who he was. She couldn't let her feelings get the best of her now.
"Oh, believe me, Bea, I've known that for a long time," he mumbled from beside her, a soft smile plastered on his plump pink lips.
When they got down to the street, Bucky held his elbow out to her. Bea looked at it suspiciously, wondering what he was thinking.
"Bea, just take my damn arm - believe it or not, I can be a gentleman."
She hesitated with a huff, before sliding her hand around his arm, "Just this once, Barnes."
The Blue Note was the busiest she had ever seen, couples lingered outside in the cold leaning into each other and most whispering what she could only assume were sweet nothings based on the smiles plastered on the women's faces. A part of her felt a twinge of jealousy watching them. She couldn't deny how nice it would be to have someone but the pure idea of letting a man into her heart made her nauseous.
"You're lookin' a little green behind the gills there Bumble Bea," she heard him say lowly, feeling him nudge her softly, "you alright?"
Bea shot a glare up at him, "I'm fine Buckaroo, lets just get inside it's freezing out here." She looked forward again, ignoring the feelings creeping into her veins like vines.
Bucky opened up the door for them, letting her walk in first with a dip of his head and one arm behind his back, “my lady.”
That eye-rolling boyish grin appeared. She bit back a smile, but it wasn’t enough to hold back the flushness that crept along her neck up to her cheeks. She quickly looked forward again to conceal her reaction as she walked inside with him behind.
She couldn’t let him have that fun.
Inside, the floor was packed with dancing people. Couples entwined, moving to the music that a live band was playing on the stage at the far end of the room.
"Can I buy you a drink, sweet Bea?" His voice rasped close to her ear, making the hairs of her neck stand up and a ripple of goosebumps released on her skin.
"And risk poisoning? No thank you."
"Come on, doll. Be good," His warm breath returned to the side of her neck, making sure she heard him over the volume of the music.
Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as heat pooled at her center. She hated that he had this effect over her.
Bucky Barnes with his smug grin and a jawline that could cut glass.
She swallowed thickly before turning slightly to face him, "I'm not a dog Barnes, and I'm not your doll. You're buying me a Manhattan but I'm comin' with ya."
Facing him was almost a mistake because of the way he was leant in, their eyes were at a perfect level with each other and her legs felt like jello with how he was looking over her. The shiny blue pools of his eyes were almost hypnotizing her, almost all the noise around them disappeared for the few seconds that his eyes flickered over her face.
As he straightened up, his tall figure back to towering above her, a dazzling grin broke out on James' face that had her turning in the direction of the bar and rushing ahead of him to hide the blush that she could feel spreading over her face that had nothing to do with the heat of the dancing bodies around them and everything with the handsome brunette.
Bea straightened her shoulders and, with a confidence she didn’t really feel, stood at the bar waiting for Bucky to catch her up.
He sauntered up to her with his usual easy gait, his hands in his pockets and his goddamn dreamboat smirk fixed on his stupidly handsome face.
“Manhattan was it?” He asked, tipping his chin to get the bartender’s attention.
“You forgotten already?” Bea snarked.
"Nah, I just wanted to hear your voice again. You sound so pretty when you're not calling me a scoundrel." She drew in a breath and held it for a few seconds as Bucky grinned. "With a lemon twist, right?"
She blushed but held his gaze. Bucky definitely took notice as his eyes bounced around her face, almost unsure where to land.
"How did you know that?"
"Saw you drinking one on your balcony last summer." She went to speak but was cut off by Bucky ordering for her. He turned back to Bea as the bartender began to make their drinks. "Believe it or not, but I do pay close attention to you."
"What for? To drive me crazy?"
His eyes ran up and down her body and she felt that familiar heat flood her cheeks again. He looked good, in a crisp white shirt with a stiff collar, dark pants that had been pressed, and his hair was mostly slicked back with a few stray curls sticking out.
"Somethin' like that," he murmured as their drinks were slid across the bar. Bucky handed hers to her and grinned as he took up his own whisky glass, holding it in the air. "How about a truce tonight?"
"That depends," she replied. "Are you gonna do anything to warrant a slap?"
He leaned forward, that cocky smirk ever present on his plump lips.
"I'll be on my best behavior, sugar."
Her eyes narrowed.
"Somehow I doubt that."
“You wound me, Bea. Am I really that bad?” Bucky chuckled, his hand pressed to his chest in faux hurt.
“Not bad, Barnes,” Bea said, taking a sip of her drink with a coy smile. “But I fear that admitting you have a certain charm will only make your head grow, and I’m not sure your neck can take the weight as it is.”
Bucky tilted his head, eyes glimmering with mirth to match the lopsided grin on his lips, and Bea struggled not to reach out and fix the one stray curl that fell over his eyes when he moved.
“Are you saying it’s working? My charm?”
She hummed thoughtfully, “we’ll see how the night goes.”
As Beatrice let her mind flutter to the idea of this night actually being something fun for the two of them, a small blonde skipped up to them and pressed herself between her and Bucky.
"Heya Buck, I was hoping I'd see you here tonight," she twisted a curl around her finger and looked over her shoulder at Bea with a sly smirk, "come dance with me"
Bucky cleared his throat as his eyes flickered from the blonde to the brunette, "Dottie, hi, I uh..." he rubbed his hand over the back of his neck as his cheeks turned pink.
Beatrice cocked her eyebrow and scoffed as she took a large swing from her drink. Classic Bucky, one girl was just never enough. She could feel the heat rising in her neck as she turned away to try and avoid eye contact with him as he stuttered and talked himself into a circle.
"Come on Buck," the girl pouted, "you always did prefer blondes," Dottie snipped.
"Uh, Dottie, I'm not sure -"
"Go dance with her, Buck," Bea muttered, "Since you prefer blondes and all."
She turned on her heel and stalked away, aiming for the bar to refill her drink.
"Beatrice," he called after her, her name on his lips. Leaving Dottie planted dumbfounded on the dancefloor he followed Bea to the bar.
"Leave me alone, Barnes," Bea said, knowing it was him who now stood behind her. His clean pine scent clouded her senses.
"Look, sweets. I'm sorry. I'm here with you because I want to and not because I want to dance with other girls. Can you give me another chance, please?"
No matter how infuriating this man was, he pulled her in like a magnet. And she was starting to realize that, that might not be that bad.
Bea puffed out her cheeks and pushed herself up her toes as she leaned onto the bar ignoring his plea. She called the bartender forward with a wave and a bat of her eyelashes. She was going to give Bucky a taste of his own medicine even if she wanted to kiss him with just as much ferocity as she wanted to slap him.
"What can I get ya sweetheart?", the tall broad shouldered blonde rasped as he reached for her glass, fingers grazing her wrist.
"Manhattan with a twist," she smiled.
She watched attentively as the man prepared her to drink effortlessly paying no mind to the brooding brunette that huffed behind her. When the man walked back with her drink she pressed her hand to his before grabbing it.
"Thanks, angel face.", she turned back to face Bucky with a smirk as she sipped on her fresh drink, "Oh I'm sorry Barnes, were you saying something?"
His face was red as she saw him glare at the back of the bartender's head who was already serving another woman down the line, paying no mind to Bucky and the look he sent his way.
It made Beatrice giddy on the inside, knowing that seeing her flirt with someone might have the same effect on him as she felt when she saw Dot throw herself all over him. Even in the low light of The Blue Note and the cloud of cigarette smoke floating around, she could clearly see the tick in Bucky’s  jaw. His eye blazed as he took a step then another closer to her, effectively cornering her against the bar as he leaned in and she tried not to take a breath of his cologne in and give herself away. He leaned on one hand and the other pushed the stray strand that was resting on his forehead, her eyes never left his until his tongue swept over his lower lip and her eyes caught the movement.
It felt like they were sharing the same air when he took a deep breath that was seemingly to calm himself, while it only served to knock the breath out of her.
"Please, Bea? I'm really sorry."
His voice was breathy, sweet with the hint of the whiskey he was drinking and it went to her head.
“Are you though?” Bea asked, meeting the ice blue of his eyes with every ounce of glare she could muster. “Or are you so doll-dizzy that you’re gonna get your head turned by every broad that walks in this joint, blonde or otherwise? Maybe Steve had the right idea after all.”
“You got me all wrong sweetheart. I’ve only got eyes for one girl and it ain’t no broad like Dottie.”
She looked him up and down. It was her turn to make him blush. And she did. Bucky bit his lip and she sipped her drink, using the silence to make him sweat a little. She could see it clinging to his brow as his Adam's apple bobbing up and down in his throat.
“Bea, I swear.” He stuck out his hand. “Can I prove it to you?”
She huffed and looked around the smoky bar. Dottie was standing alone, her hands on her hips, waiting for Bucky to come back to her. Bea felt like sneering at her, but instead, her eyes landed on Bucky. He smiled, those beautiful eyes sparkling in the dim light.
“Dance with me?” He asked. “Just one dance, and then you can slap me in the face if you still wanna.”
He wasn’t going to give up, and she knew it.
“Okay. One dance.”
He grinned as she grasped his hand and he pulled her toward him. Her shoe caught on one of the bar stools and she tripped, bumping right into his chest. Her hand pressed against him and she looked up. Bucky was just as red as she was.
“Sorry,” he stammered. “Got a little too excited.”
Bea couldn’t help but smile at the fumble, because the thing about Bucky Barnes was that for every ounce of cocksure smooth talker, he was an adorable idiot in equal measure.
“It’s okay. Just maybe go a little slower on the dance floor.”
“You got it, angel. We’ll sway nice and slow,” he murmured, soft and low as his hands found her waist. “I’ll hold you close, just like this.”
Bea felt herself grow warmer, a simmering heat in her belly as Bucky’s lips grazed her cheek.
“Let’s go then,” she pushes, trying to keep her voice steady despite her pounding heart. “Because right now you’re all talk, Buck.”
Bucky smirked, swiping his tongue along his bottom lip as he gently guided her to the dance floor. Beatrice ignored the eruption of butterflies and stomped them down as she followed. No man, not even Bucky Barnes was going to make her swoon that easily. He had a lot more work to do.
He spun her slowly under his arm before catching her waist and intertwining his fingers with hers. Her free hand landed on his chest and curled into the fabric of his shirt as she bit the inside of her cheek. Coincidentally the band started playing one of her favorite songs "Prelude to a kiss", and she looked up to see a small smile grace the man's lips.
"Let's just say I knew you wouldn't be able to say no..." He whispered, reaching up to brush a chocolate curl off her cheek.
Bea shook her head, finally allowing herself to smile up at him. This cheeky bastard. Their eyes were locked as they swayed to the song, the rest of the crowd seemingly fading away as the tips of their noses just brushed together.
"Bucky" A high-pitched whine came from beside them, snapping both of them back to reality.
"You said you would dance with me," Dottie pouted, eyeing Beatrice as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Every warm feeling she had flooded out of her body as Dot continued to edge her way towards Bucky.
"Sorry Dottie, I'm not looking for any other dance partners tonight," Bucky said, keeping his hold on Bea firm as the brunette kept his eyes focused on Bea.
Dot shot a glare at Bea with a foot stomp, "You promised." She said through gritted teeth, as Bea let out a soft laugh. Dot's eyes narrowed, "Besides why would you want to dance with the loner on Montague St? Didn't take you for a Charity man though you do live with Stevie."
Bucky let out a sigh, hanging his head as Bea let go of him, pulling herself from his grasp. The words coursing through her like a rapid river that only caused more and more destruction as they flowed through her.
"Beatrice," Bucky warned lowly, his voice fading as the anger in her chest bubbled.
Dot's eyes grew wider the moment Bea took a step towards her, "Dot do you understand what the word no means?" She tossed her a pointed look, waiting for an answer.
But as soon as Dot went to open her poorly painted lips Bea opened hers, "Clearly not, so instead of following Bucky around like a lost little puppy dog, why don't you go find someone else to bother? Or are you just that desperate for attention?"
The blonde once again stood dumbfounded, eyes flickering between Bea and Bucky.
Bea tsked as the tension between the three of them grew, "I gotta say Dottie, didn't take you as the desperate type, but yet" she spread her arms out in front of her, "here we are."
"Are you just going to stand there and let her speak to me like that?!" Dot exclaimed raging eyes moving to the brunette behind her.
Bucky chuckled, the sound flowing through her calming the rage, "Like I said sweets, I'm not looking for another partner tonight, and come to think of it probably not for the next night," Bea felt him lean forward, resting his chin on her shoulder, "or the night after that and after--"
Dot stomped her foot and huffed once again letting out a whine as she spun on her heel away from them not giving him the chance to finish the sentence that Bea almost wished was true.
Bea smirked as she saw Dot huff and pout all the way to the ladies’ room. Bucky straightened his back, standing tall as they continued to sway with the music for a few measures.
She looked up at him through her lashes, all rage dissipating when she saw he was already looking down at her. Her cheeks grew warm. Bea felt something else bubble in her chest- this time, it felt like nerves.
“I can see through your little game, Barnes.”
“Game?” A small, knowing smile pulled at the corner of Bucky’s lips. “What game?”
He continued staring down at her as his hands traced absentminded circles on the back of her waist. She could feel his fingers through all her layers and a small shiver ran up her spine.
Bea couldn’t help but smirk back at him. “Yuppp,” she said, making sure to pop the last syllable.
“I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about,” Bucky said and as the music swelled, he spun her out of his arms and back in, dipping her slightly. Bea got lost in his blue eyes, sparkling with excitement as he pulled her back upright.
“Right,” she said, a little more breathlessly than she’d have liked, “You’re just full of surprises aren’t you?”
He laughed, warm breath fanning Bea's cheek and sending tingles over her skin. A smoky haze was filling the room and she blamed that for the sudden lightheaded sensation that hit her like a truck. She barely had time to blink before Bucky spun her around once more, her skirt swirling around her legs as her back met his chest at the end of the turn. She suppressed a whimper when she felt his lips brush the baby hairs at her temple.
"I gotta few things I could still show you," he whispered. "If you'd like."
Bea smothered her arousal with a snort, begging her face to not flare up pink. The music started to fade as she tilted her head up towards Bucky, turning. Her hands slid up his broad shoulders and she felt the muscles ripple underneath when Bucky pulled her body flush with his again.
"Does that line usually work?" she murmured, looking up through her eyelashes.
Not for the first time, she found the dark flecks in his ocean eyes as they focused on her crimson-colored mouth. He swallowed heavily, tongue darting out to lick his lips as his breathing became a little quicker. She could feel the hammering of his heart against her own and for once, Bea realized that Bucky Barnes might not be as sure of himself as it appeared.
"I don't know," Bucky drawled, still searching her face with a soft smirk. "You tell me...is it?"
"It might." Bea inched closer to him until his hot breath fanned over her face.
"Oh, really? Tell me, sweets, what do you want to do now? I'm all yours."
Her breath caught in her throat as a small whimper left her lips.
"Kiss me, you big, annoying boy," She closed her eyes as his lips descended down to hers, adding just the slightest pressure. Her mind reeled with intoxicating thoughts. Nothing could have prepared her for what kissing him felt like. It felt like an explosion.
His lips are so soft was Bea's first thought as their lips connected. Her hands slid up his big, strong arms and sank into the hairs at the nape of his neck hoping to anchor herself as he pushed against her lips. Gaining more confidence and pouring it into the kiss as she leaned more into him while his hands gripped her waist, almost stepping on his foot in the process.
All too soon, the need for oxygen left them both breathless as he pulled back just enough to take a gulp of air but stayed close. So close that their lips were still touching as they caught their breaths, sharing them in the small space.
Beatrice's body was on a high like no other. And it was just one, simple kiss that turned her to mush.
Bucky's smile could melt a glacier as he gently pressed the tip of his nose against hers.
"Whaddya say we get out of here, angel? No more pretending to hate me."
"Who's pretending?" She breathed.
Bea smirked, realizing that her hand was still on the back of his neck. Meanwhile, Bucky's lingered on her waist, moving toward her lower back. He gently pulled her toward him so that her body was flush with his and she was convinced that he could see her pulse in her throat. Her heart was hammering, and suddenly, those two drinks she had felt like two dozen. All thanks to him.
"You think that worked, huh?"
"I can tell by the look in your eyes that it did." He dipped his head, pressing his lips to her earlobe. "And I think we need to deal with this tension between us."
"What tension?"
Bucky's fingers danced up and down her spine and she shivered against him. His low, rumbling laughter rippled through her body like an electric current.
"That tension."
Bucky grinned, his nose scrunching as Bea rolled her eyes. But the smile on her own face matched his and she tilted her head, chasing his lips for another soft kiss.
“Is it too forward of me if I ask you to take me home, Bucky?”
“You had enough of me already, sweetheart? And here I was thinking I was getting somewhere.”
Bea laughed, and her hand wandered down Bucky’s arm to link their fingers together as she pushed up onto her toes and brought her own lips to his ear.
“Take me home where there are no prying eyes…” she whispered.
For a split second, Bucky seemed to freeze. Then, without a word he abruptly squeezed her hand in his and tugged her out of the club. He was so eager to get them home, Bea had to jog to keep up with him, her skirt flapping around her knees.
As they approached the steps to their apartment building, Bucky slowed to a stop, pulling Bea close.
"You haven't changed your mind, have you?" He asked softly, face close to hers.
"No," She wanted to add on a snappy comment, but he kissed her then.
A few cold drops on her head were the only warning before the sky errupted over them in a downpour. They pulled apart in surprise, and then dissolved into laughter, clinging to each other as the rain soaked them to the bone.
Bea tilted her head back, letting the rain fall against her skin, little tiny droplets sticking to her as she lifted her eyes to his. She expected him to be looking up at the sky as well, but instead, he was staring at her. Eyes bright and neon against the dark sky.
"What?" She breathed a smile playing against her lips.
He reached up, pushing back strands of wet curls that had fallen out of place and plastered to her forehead as he shook his head softly, "nothing darling, you just look really pretty right now."
Bea giggled, "I didn't realize drowned rat was your type."
He smiled, that bright smile that always made her warm inside, "no, but you are."
Bucky leaned down and captured her lips with his, drawing her body flush against his toned front. He pulled away and nuzzled their noses.
“Plus, you’re more like a drowned Pomeranian. A lot cuter, with a hell of a bite.”
Bea snorted a burst of laughter escaping her before she pulled Bucky down. She kissed him slowly, dragging his lower lip out between her teeth a bit before releasing him.
“Get me inside and I’ll show you just how much I bite,” she grinned as Bucky’s eyes darkened. He laced their fingers together and began pulling her up the steps and into their building.
The walk down the hall to Bea's apartment was a dripping tangle of tongues and teeth, their hands exploring further with each step closer to the door. Quick kisses turned into long, heart stopping ones that made Bea's toes curl up in the damp leather of her shoes. By the time her key slid into the worn lock, both of them were out of breath and out of control.
Stumbling inside, Bucky grabbed Bea's waist once more. She let out a squeak as she wobbled on her heels and a pair of eager, slightly chilled lips made a trail from her ear to her throat.
"Bucky!" she exclaimed, righting herself by grabbing his shoulders. "You tryin' to kill me? These shoes are a mile high!"
He grinned before pressing his lips to hers once more. Suddenly, Bucky dropped down to his knees and wrapped his hands around her ankle. The skin of his palm was rough through her stockings and she moaned quietly as he looked up, blue eyes blown out with desire.
"How about I help you out, sweet thing?" Bucky murmured, grabbing her heel and lifting her leg into his lap.
His deft fingers made quick work of the straps on her heels, eyes focused on her flushed cheeks and damp skin as he switched from one foot to the other. Every brush of his fingers made the heat in her belly build until finally, she couldn't take it any longer, pulling him up and back towards her bedroom.
When they made it to her bedroom, Bucky shut the door behind him, lit by nothing but the silvery wisps of moonlight that shone through the curtains. She expected another kiss, but he quickly moved behind her, grasping the zipper on her dress as he leaned over to press his lips to her ear. He turned her to face the big full-length mirror that stood next to the window. Bea could see her flushed cheeks, her damp hair that stuck to her head, and her dress was soaked all the way through. Bucky looked gorgeous, water dripping off of his hair and trickling down his face.
"Can I undress you?" He purred. "I always thought about doin' it."
She stood completely still as one of his hands came to slide around her waist, fingers spreading out across her belly. He pulled her toward him, pressing himself against her. She felt the pressure of his cock against her ass and whimpered as his hand travelled a little lower, slipping beneath her dampened skirt. His hands were freezing in comparison to her scorched skin and he gently nipped her earlobe.
"Please, Bea?"
"Yes," she rasped.
Bucky grinned and she watched as he oh-so-slowly dragged the zipper down, watching her watch him in the mirror. It felt like an eternity. Her stomach swarmed with butterflies and her cheeks were so hot she felt like she might combust. She trembled like a leaf.
"You cold, darling?" He asked in that soft, husky voice that nearly brought her to her knees. His lips pressed against the back of her neck as he fully unzipped the dress and began to push it off of her shoulders.
"A little."
He grinned, sucking gently on the spot between her neck and shoulder. Bea whimpered, her back arching as she reached behind her to wind her fingers in his hair.
"We should warm you up, then, hmm?"
Bucky wrapped his arms around her bare waist as the dress pooled around her feet.
Her heart felt like it was going to explode out of her chest, it was beating so hard.
He chuckled lightly when she gasped, his lips grazing her neck as he trailed wet kisses down to her collarbone.
"Don't laugh - you're cold!" She hissed. Even though she was definitely enjoying his attention, he was pressed against her in his still damp, chilly clothing.
Bea spun around in his arms, pressing her hand to his chest. "I think it's my turn now," she grinned, dragging her lips along his jawline, "stay still for me."
She ran her hands down his soaked shirt, tugging on the fabric just above his slacks. The white linen pulled free from his pants and hung loose around his hips. Bea grazed her fingers against the chilled skin of his abs before attempting to work the buttons on his shirt.
Her fingers fumbled, a soft huff of frustration left her lips before she finally gave up and gripped the edges and yanked, tearing it clean from the fasteners. Buttons flew across the room between them as she ran her hands back down his bare chest, sending a wave of goosebumps along his kin.
"Jesus Bea," His voice rasped as she looked up at him through thick lashes, "I liked that shirt." He grinned.
"And I like it better off." She cooed, pressing her lips to his chest leaving perfect lipstick stamps against the toned muscle as her fingers trailed down to his slacks.
Bucky whined and bit down on his bottom lip. “I don’t think I’m gonna survive this if you keep talkin’ like that, sweets.”
Her fingers worked at his belt while her lips continued kissing his chest. She left small, chaste kisses along his collarbone, noting the constellation of freckles gathered near his shoulder.
He was so beautiful, and he was putty in her hands. She wanted to savor every sound, every sharp intake of breath - she didn’t want this to end.
Once his belt was off, she undid the top button of his slacks. “Is this okay?” Bea asked breathlessly.
“S’more than okay darling, please,” Bucky said, letting out a whimper when she bent down, squatting and lowering his pants as she went. She knelt in front of him, and stared up through her lashes.
Bucky audibly gulped, lifting a slightly shaking hand to Bea’s cheek. He brushed his fingertips along her cheekbone, breath escaping his lips as he spoke.
“You’re so beautiful Bea,” he murmured, and she flushed, grinning at him.
“Flattery will get you nowhere with me,” she said despite her heated cheeks. Bucky shook his head and brushed her cheek again.
“Not flattery, just honesty.”
Bea rocked back on her heels, helping Bucky take the last step out of his pants. They both giggled when he wobbled, unsteady as the soaked fabric tried to cling to his skin. Goosebumps raised on his thighs and stomach, the boxers underneath nearly soaked through.
"Like what you see?" Bucky drawled, making her realize she'd been sitting there slack jawed for more than a few seconds.
"Maybe," she remarked playfully, running her nails down his thighs. "Or I'm just thinking about what I can't see...can I?"
"Fuck," he muttered breathlessly as his head fell backwards. "Yes. That...that sounds great."
She giggled softly, reaching up to tease the strip of skin above his boxers before starting to work them down his legs. Every inch exposed was hard muscle and smooth skin, making her mouth water. When his cock sprang free, flushed pink and rock hard, she looked back up with the best doe eyes she could muster.
"You ever have a girl put her mouth on you?"
Bucky's head snapped down, eyes wide, and for a moment he looked just like the kid in high school that she first developed this horrendous crush on.
"Christ, Beatrice," he laughed before tracing her bottom lip with his thumb. "Yeah, but none with a mouth like this one."
She stood and wrapped her fingers around his cock, stroking it slowly just to watch his eyes roll back and a curse spill from his lips. Her mouth ghosted along his stubbled jaw. Bucky was usually clean shaven, but she liked to feel a little bit of stubble and wondered what that would feel like between her thighs.
"Get on the bed and I'll show you everything this mouth can do," she breathed.
"You like to boss men around, don't you?" He groaned as she squeezed his cock just a little. Bea chuckled.
"What's the matter, Barnes? Can't handle it?"
"Oh, I can. I just wish we had crossed this bridge a long time ago."
She kissed him, released his cock and shoved him backward so that he stumbled and collapsed onto the bed. Bea didn't waste time in climbing on top of him. She reached back, unclasping her bra and tossing it aside. Bucky's eyes nearly bugged right out of his head the second he saw her bare tits. His brain looked like it was going to explode and she put her hand on his chest.
"Lay back, sugar. I'll take care of you."
He whimpered as her lips began to glide down his chiselled chest, over taut muscle. She flicked his hipbones with her tongue and he squirmed as she teased him a little until he was quivering beneath her, his cock pulsing. Bea pressed her lips to the tip, her eyes locking with his. Bucky was a mess, with big glistening blue eyes, biting down on his bottom lip as his entire body clenched like a fist. She slowly stuck her tongue out and dragged it up his shaft, causing a high-pitched whine to fill the room. Bea giggled and Bucky's head hit the mattress.
"You're killin' me, princess."
"And here I thought you liked to be teased, Barnes."
A deep growl left his chest as he reached down and tucked a piece of damp hair behind her ear, "I'm usually the one on the teasing side, Bea, but I am not complaining," he rasped.
Beatrice smirked, and pumped her hand up his cock, "Good boy," she whispered, pulling the tip between her lips and sucking lightly, pulling a moan from Bucky's lips as he gripped the sheets at his sides.
She hollowed her cheeks taking him further into her mouth, her fingers wrapping around the base squeezing gently the length she couldn't fit. Warmth pooled at her center as the sounds of his pleasure filled the room around them. Sweet praises and soft curses wrapped her in a blanket of lust as she bobbed her head.
"Bea I ain't gonna last long if you keep doing that," he breathed in between gasps of air.
She released him with a pop grinning up at him, "you better try because I'm taking my time with you," Bea flicked her tongue over the tip, running it through the slit and collecting a bead of precum.
"Goddamnit," he groaned his head pressing into the pillow as his hips lifted, "You're going to kill me."
"Maybe," she hummed against him, "but not tonight." She teased before taking him in her mouth again with her own moan that vibrated through them both.
Bea took him deeper, nudging the back of her throat and Bucky’s breath hitched. She slowly pulled off him, sitting back on her heels, a line of spit connecting them before it broke. Bea raised her eyes to Bucky’s, finding them blown out with lust and awe.
He gaped at her, and she smirked. “Finally speechless Barnes?” He blinked, a grin sliding across his lips as he sat up, big hands smoothing over her thighs before gripping them tightly and lifting her slightly. He pulled her forwards into his lap, until she was straddling him.
His eyes were locked on her breasts, and a whine slipped out of his mouth before he asked, “Can I?”
"Can you what?" Bea asked. "Use your words or you're not gonna get what you want. I don't care how many drinks you bought me tonight."
Bucky growled and somehow, she was flipped onto her back, caged in by his strong arms. She yelped as his mouth dragged down her throat. Bea couldn't help but whimper as he hit that spot again, this time sinking his teeth into it just a little.
"Taste you," he whispered. "Please, Bea?"
Bea laughed, and the sound only seemed to drive him crazier. He sounded so desperate, pressing his hips into her thigh and rolling them so that she could feel his cock throbbing against her. His mouth found hers in a desperate and aching kiss and he moaned against her lips.
"Say yes," he begged. "Please say yes."
She broke the kiss, pushing his damp hair out of his face.
"You haven't even gotten my underwear off yet."
Bucky's eyes went wide and he sat on his haunches, grabbing the flimsy fabric with both hands and tearing it with ferocity. Bea gasped, reaching out to swat at him as he laughed.
"Buck, those were expensive!"
"Payback for my shirt," he replied with a grin as he stretched out between his legs, rolling his hips into the mattress. She watched as he placed gentle kisses up and down her thighs and those big blue eyes made her heart skip a beat. "I'll buy you new ones."
Beatrice combed her hand into his hair with a smirk, cocking an eyebrow at him, "you better"
Placing gentle kisses and nips along the skin of her hip bones, Bucky smiled into her, a deep laugh sending a vibration of pleasure up her body, "sweetheart, I will buy you whatever you want," he took a deep breath and pressed his lips to her wet folds.
A whine left her throat and she arched her back, "now who's being a tease..." she quipped.
Bucky circled her clit with his tongue before pulling it between his teeth and sucking softly, "you taste just as sweet as I'd imagined Bea," he mumbled into her skin.
"Less talking," she moaned even though the vibration from his voice worked to drive her crazy.
She felt him chuckle between her legs as her hips rolled against his mouth. Warm euphoria washed over her like sunshine as he ran his tongue through her, circling her clit in small tight circles as if trying to whisper something to her.
Moan after moan spilled from both of them while her orgasm built. Her back arched further off the mattress when two fingers slowly slid into her causing her to gasp and tangle her fingers into the roots of his hair.
"Jesus Bucky," she breathed, feeling his arm hook over her waist, holding her down to the bed.
He groaned into her, sucking on her clit lightly as he pushed his long fingers deeper inside her.
“Oh! Right there, don’t move a damn inch,” Bea ordered and Bucky whined as she swore, keeping his fingers exactly where they were, rubbing over her sweet spot. “Harder Buck, oh Jesus,” she panted as he did as she said, crooking his fingers harder against her and making her legs start to shake.
He chuckled, keeping the exact pace and pressing against that spot. A warm tingling sensation engulfed her lower back and her clit began to pulse in his mouth. Suddenly, her spine arched and she draped one leg over his shoulder, digging her heel into his strong back as she came with a loud cry. Her hips snapped relentlessly against him as stars appeared behind her eyes. Bucky fucked her right through it, his mouth and fingers stroking her gently as she began to come down. When she was a panting, sweaty mess, he finally looked up at her.
"Never heard a woman make those kinds of sounds before."
Her head was too fuzzy to think of a slick comeback for him. He earned this. Her limbs felt like they were made of jelly and she pushed her fingers through his gorgeous dark hair.
"Good boy," was all she could muster.
That sent Bucky into a frenzy. His eyes flashed and he practically leapt on top of her, his mouth crashing against hers.
"Say it again," he begged through desperate and pleading kisses.
"Good boy."
His voice broke.
"Goddammit." He pulled back, staring at her. "I need you, Beatrice. So damn badly."
"How badly?"
"Like sometimes, when you're watering the plants on your porch, I think about bending you over it and pulling your skirt up."
His eyes were nearly black, and he looked manic and consumed with lust. She giggled as she wound her arms around the back of his neck, biting down on her bottom lip. His eyes roamed her face and his chest heaved.
"Maybe I want that."
He practically dissolved in front of her, eyes rolling back as he kissed her again.
"I need to be inside you."
"Then get to it, big boy," Bea finally snipped when she caught her breath, bucking her hips up into him.
A mix between a chuckle and a growl escaped Bucky as he moved his lips down her jaw, nipping the spot just under her ear as he reached between them and lined himself up with her entrance. He continued kissing down her neck, ghosting his lips along her throat before sitting back and catching her gaze.
His eyes traced her features, "are you okay, Bea?"
Beatrice nodded, and cupped his cheek, "I'm okay Buck, please... I need this, I need you" she whispered, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, letting herself be vulnerable for one moment.
Of course, in a time of passion and lust, this man would take a second to check in on her. He always did have a soft side that came on in moments when it really mattered, but Bea had never thought he would be like that in a moment like this.
Bucky took her words and nodded once, as he slowly pushed himself into her, capturing her lips once more and swallowing a moan as their sounds mixed together. He paused, letting her adjust to him before slowly pumping his hips against her, letting her whine into his mouth.
It surprised Bea a little that Bucky was being so gentle - perhaps she had imagined him to be a more demanding lover or rougher.
Not that she'd ever thought about what Bucky would be like in bed.
Oh, who was she kidding - she'd definitely thought about it. More than once.
"Faster," She whined, "Please, Bucky -"
Bucky growled in her ear, "So demanding," He groaned, nibbling lightly on her neck before pushing himself up.
Without stopping his thrusts, he positioned her legs on his shoulders, grabbed her hips and did exactly as she asked.
"Oh - f-f-fuck!" Bea cried out, her fingers curling into the bedsheets as he angled himself just right, hitting the sweet spot and making sparks fly across her vision.
Bucky groaned, planting soft kisses along her calves as he continued his pace though she only felt him. Her eyes were slammed shut, head thrust back into the pillow. Noises that she wasn't even sure if she was the one making were filling the room around them, the sounds of the built-up tension between them finally crackling like lightning.
Years of unspoken words hung in the air like stars as she opened her eyes looking up at him. His hair was matted to his forehead from the thin sheen of sweat that covered his body. With flushed cheeks and muscles taut, he released her legs, bringing himself back down to press his lips against her own.
"You have no idea how much I've needed you," he whispered against her mouth as her hands rested against his cheeks, holding his face to hers. It scared her to admit that she'd been wanting this too but she had a feeling he already knew.
"Just kiss me again," was all she could manage as the mixture of pleasure and emotions swirled inside of her building with her orgasm.
Bucky crashed his lips down onto hers, their tongues mixing together. He rolled his hips deeper into her, pressing her down into the mattress, his toned body firm against hers softer one.
Bea pulled away from the kiss, gasping, “Bucky! Oh god, please!”
“What Bea? Tell me, sweetheart, what do you need?” Bucky asked softly, trailing his nose along her jaw, pressing a kiss to that spot behind her ear. “C’mon pretty girl, lemme give it to you.”
Bea whined, head angled to the side to give him more room. “N-need to come,” she moaned as Bucky breathed against her ear. “Please, need you - need to come.”
Bucky kissed her forehead.
"You first, angel. I need to feel you, need you to be a good girl for me."
She shivered against him and his hips began to snap faster and faster as Bea began to quiver around him. Her fingernails raked down his back, digging into his skin. She began to cry out and moan louder and louder until her cries were bouncing off of the walls. She felt self-conscious for a second, but once he started hitting that spot over and over again, it didn't matter.
Finally, she crumbled, coming so hard that her eyes squeezed shut and his mouth crashed against hers.
"That's my girl," he moaned. "God, you're incredible. I wanna make you scream like that every day."
She breathed a whine and mumbled something incoherently every nerve in her body still ignited from her orgasm. Bucky brushed his hand over her cheek with a chuckle as his hips continued to snap against hers.
"I've got you, Bea," he groaned, the pace of his hips becoming uncontrolled as he approached his own climax. She could feel his cock twitch inside her, as the sensitive nerves of her spot were hit again over and over.
Their sounds filled her apartment as his hips crashed against hers until finally, he came with a deep moan, burying his face into the crook of her neck. Bea racked her fingers into his hair, tugging gently with a whine as she helped him through the overwhelming pleasure that had taken both of them.
His hips stilled and they stayed there for a few moments, Bucky pressed soft kisses into her skin, whispering praises into her ear with their breath mixing together.
Slowly, Bucky eased out of her, rolling to the side without letting Bea go.
She shifted, nuzzling against him, relishing the afterglow of what they had just done.
"Still hate me?" He asked, smirking as he pressed a kiss against her forehead.
“Not at the moment,” she grinned, giggling when Bucky feigned a look of shock. He kissed her gently, pulling back and opening his mouth but he was interrupted by a knock at the door.
“I wonder who that is?” Bea murmured and disentangled herself from Bucky despite his protests.
“Just leave it doll, they’ll go away.” He tried as she pulled on a robe, covering herself.
“I’ll be right back,” she promised, slipping out of her room.
She tightened the robe around her and found Steve Rogers climbing in through her kitchen window. Bea cleared her throat and watched as his head snapped up and he yelped, falling inside and onto the floor with a grunt.
"Rogers, you know that's a crime, right?"
Steve clamoured to his feet and dusted himself off. He wasn't drenched, so the rain must have stopped. It suddenly occurred to her that she didn't hear it pattering against the windows, but then again, she was too focused on Bucky.
"You know where Buck is?" He asked. His eyes narrowed. "Why's your hair look like that?"
"Like what?" She snapped.
"All messy."
Bea flushed and cleared her throat.
"I was asleep."
"In your makeup?"
"Rogers, what the hell do you want?"
"Bucky's not home, I thought he might have gotten too drunk again and fallen asleep on your couch."
She sighed, not wanting to burst the little bubble she and Bucky had created. She wanted to go back to bed and feel his arms wrapped around her while she fell asleep.
"I left him at the bar talking to some floozy. He's probably at her place."
Steve sighed and she pointed outside.
"Go home, Steve. He's a big boy, he'll be back tomorrow."
"Yeah, okay." He turned toward the window and Bea snapped her fingers. "Use the door like a human being, please."
"Fiiiiiine," Steve groaned.
She watched him head for the door and take one last look at her over his shoulder, his eyes still filled with doubt. Bea went to lunge at him and he yelped, skittering out the door, slamming it behind him. She huffed and went to lock it before padding back to the bedroom.
"Barnes, tell Rogers to stop climbing in women's windows! He's gonna get punched one day!"
When she entered her bedroom, Beatrice found Bucky, with his pants pulled halfway up. He cleared his throat and continued getting dressed with a shy smile. For a split second, a wave of hurt washed over her, thinking exactly the thoughts she had about him prior to their night together, but she did her best to push those aside.
"Where do you think your going?" She faked a pout and wandered over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
Bucky groaned and placed his hands on either side of her face, giving her lips a soft kiss, moving to her cheek and ghosting her lips to kiss the tip of her nose, "I'm so sorry sweetheart, you must think I'm awful right now, but I really should get home to check on Steve..."
Beatrice pulled her lip between her teeth, tracing her eyes over his features with a furrowed brow, "seriously?"
He shrugged and pulled her tightly against his body, "he worries when I don't come home..." Bucky whispered, brushing her hair away from her face, "I promise we will talk tomorrow, okay?"
With a small nod of her head, she breathed out and pressed her lips into a thin line, "yeah... yeah of course."
There it was again, that small twinge of hurt and suddenly she felt like any of the other girls Bucky had dared to bring home. Despite knowing that it was true, Steve always came to her on nights Bucky didn't make it home, but it didn't make her feel any better as she walked him to the front door.
Bucky captured her lips one last time, savoring the way their mouths fit together like two pieces of the same puzzle, letting his forehead linger against hers as their noses brushed together, "I promise, beautiful... First thing in the morning, I'm all yours"
With a soft smile, Beatrice bid him good night and watched him linger in the hallway for a few minutes before walking into his own apartment and playing it off to Steve who did in fact sound worried about him. She let herself push away the hurt feelings and enjoy the time she'd spent with Bucky. A side of him she'd never seen before, and one she definitely hoped she'd get to see again.
She flopped onto her bed with a lopsided smile and ghosted her fingertips over her lips, allowing the exhaustion to take over. Beatrice slipped into a deep sleep, with thoughts of her Bucky dancing through her dreams.

First Person's POV
The pub was alive with music and cheer. Couples danced to the music, men cheered as they clapped, and ladies flirted with the soldiers going off to fight. A squeal escaped my lips as hands sneaked around my waist, I felt a kiss on my cheek and his familiar scent tickle my nose. "Hey, doll." He whispered against my ear before placing another sweet kiss on my cheek. I turned to face him, I grinned at him happily and rested my arms on his shoulders.
"Hi, Sarge." James rolled his eyes, staring at me with a small smile and pecked my lips. I didn't want him to go, the fear of losing him was too much and he was the first person I'd ever loved. Nobody gave me a second glance but him.
This man loved me, I was his girl, and he was proud of it and always made sure to tell everyone he knew of our relationship. It felt nice to have someone feel proud to have me, I loved it and I loved him.
"I'll get you a drink, doll, anything in particular?" He continued to have an arm wrapped around my waist, smiling softly as I shrugged at the offer, just staring at him happily.
"Whatever, you're having." He nodded, ordered two drinks and continued to hold onto me as we waited. Bucky handed me the drink, taking my other hand in his and walked over to a booth with me. We sat down, across from some of his friends, it was hard to remain happy all throughout the night.
He could tell, I could feel it, I glanced up at him as he tapped my shoulder. He took my hand, helping me outside and placed his army coat over me.
"Doll, what's going through your mind?" He fiddled with my hands, bending down to look me in the eye, I smiled softly at him. Shrugging gently, as I suddenly didn't want to share my worries.
"I'm okay, Bucky, let's go back inside and have some fun." The man in front of me shook his head, kissed my lips and rested his forehead on mine.
"Sweetheart, talk to me, please."
"I'm scared, I don't want you to go, It's not fair of me... I know that. But I don't want a letter to say you're missing or dead. I don't want to lose you. It's so close and I hate it." He got me to look into his eyes, and smiled softly at me.
"Doll, I promise, I'll get back to you safely, it's gonna be okay." He dried my tears, kissed my forehead and pulled out something from his pocket.
"Be mine?" He questioned, I stared at him in shock, the little ring shining and twinkling. I nodded at the man, smiling as he placed it on my finger and kissed my hand. "See, now, I definitely have to come back to you. Y/N, you're my girl and I don't plan on leaving you behind in this world. I will come back to you, no matter what it takes, I promise you, doll." Bucky whispered the words to me, smiling gently as he did so.
"I love you, Sarge."
"I love you more, Doll." Bucky buttoned up his jacket on me, shielding me from the cold, I giggled at him and watched the sweetheart in him come through.
"What if I come with you? I can be a nurse or a cook." A sigh escaped his lips, and he kissed my cheek and then my lips.
"No, doll, you gotta stay here. I gotta know you're safe, you'll be safe here. Not in that warzone, I don't want you getting hurt in there and I know it will happen. You don't deserve that." Bucky caressed my cheek, trying to comfort me when I should probably comfort him.
"Are you scared?" James took a breath, nodded and pushed a smile through his breaking happiness.
"Of course, I worry about not seeing your beautiful smile again, or hearing the silly snort and waking up to see your sleepy form next to me. But, I know, deep in my heart, that I'll see you again."
Bucky and I shared a kiss, the sky cried for our sorrowful passion and showered us in its tears. Bucky chuckled with me, leading me back inside and getting me close to the fire in the bar.
We went home, Bucky and I showered, laid together in bed both knowing what would happen in the morning. I stared at him, he stared at me both of our looks filled with love and passion.
"Wake me when you go?" I requested, smiling as he nodded with me, he brought me into his chest. Bucky stayed in his uniform, this night being the last night we'd have together.
"Yes, doll." He whispered softly, caressing my cheek and humming softly. I don't know when it was, but I fell asleep when I wished I could've stayed up all night to be with him.
I heard the normal morning sounds that filled the city, it took me a moment but I realised what was happening. I shot up in the bed, tears welling in my eyes seeing his empty space, he left without saying goodbye! How dare he! A sob escaped my lips, knowing what he did hurt but I knew it from his point of view.
I grabbed one of his jackets, walked out to the kitchen and jumped seeing the man plating breakfast. I ran to him, another sob escaping my lips as he held me tightly.
He cupped the back of my head in his hand, rubbed my back as he hummed our song in my ear and did his best to ease me into a calmer state.
"I thought you left, left without saying" I whispered against his chest, clutching him tighter as I felt a tear hit my head.
"I told you I'd let you know, you're my girl, I wouldn't do that to you." He whispered placing kisses against my face.
"You have to go now, don't you?" He nodded, I grabbed his face and kissed his lips deeply, holding onto him one final time before he left. Almost instantly, I felt the pain reach my heart, watching him walk out hurt and knowing that I might never see him again ached.
I stared at the ring, crying to myself, wishing that it didn't have to be like this. Wishing that I could see him again, wishing that he wouldn't leave me. Wishing I could be in his arms, knowing I'll be safe and knowing someone loved me enough to want to be with me forever.
He's gone and I wish I could hate him, but I can't.

Seized- Part 1
A/N: I... am not gonna lie. I struggled a bit to set this one up. probably because now I’m working 10 hour days and am brain dead after work, but I want to thank @simpxinnie for the series request and I hope to do it well for you!
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Words: 1285
Summary: Its the 1940s and Bucky’s infantry gets some surprise members, one of which he seems absolutely taken with
Part 1 | Part 2 |
______________________________
“Alright boys, apparently because the other infantries have been getting their asses absolutely handed to them lately, headquarters has a bit of a surprise for us…” Bucky’s commander yelled as he walked the line of soldiers in front of him. Mumbles of curiosity came from all around as his fellow soldiers made guesses of what it might be, but none of them could have guessed what came next.
“Alright, bring ‘em on in!” The commander yelled, waving his hand as a small infantry of women marched out to stand before them, led by their own commander with patches and medals to rival them all. Your infantry was not large by any means, but at this point in the war the more hands they could bring in the better.
Lately, the men in 107th had been growing stagnant in their position, unable to gain any ground, but not losing any either. Bucky could see that his soldiers and friends were starting to lose hope of ever doing more, but with any luck, this will shake things up enough to get them back on their toes.
The rumbling chatter came from the lines of men behind him, some less excited than others, but no one dared speak up in the other group's presence.
Bucky’s eyes scanned the various forms and faces of your visiting troop, stone-like expressions unwavering as their commander spoke up. “Alright, ladies. Put your things in your new barracks and take the afternoon to familiarize yourself with the base. Training will continue tomorrow morning at 0700. Now fall out!” She yelled with a robust tone, waving her hand in dismissal.
But Bucky couldn’t take in any of her words as you in particular caught his attention. He’s not sure why it was you that snagged his gaze; perhaps it was the softness evident in you despite your stoic eyes. Or maybe it was that you still looked like you could kick his ass either way.
Your skin shuddered just a bit as if you were being watched, but how could you not be? The eyes of men waved all over you and your sisters in arms, many wary, a few perverted, and one- oh.
And one pair of bright blue eyes that seemed to jump out from the rest. Their gaze not wary, nor perverted, but maybe… curious? You shot a knowing look his way as your eyes locked and, your lips quirked up in a small smile.
The ranks broke as both your commanders dismissed you and a mass of bodies going in all different directions filled the common space between. People bumped into Bucky here and there and in all the commotion he must’ve lost your face in the crowd. “Damn it...” he muttered under his breath, looking around in one last ditch effort, but you were long gone.
-----
You hummed softly as you wandered the base. You had hoped to familiarize yourself with your new home, but you were far too distracted to take anything in. The trees that rustled leaves above you, even the passing of strangers didn't seem to register to your brain. Your mind was still clouded by those darling blues you had caught starting just an hour ago. Who did those curious eyes belong to? and did their smile shine just as bright?
You were so caught up in your questions and thoughts that you barely realized you had run right into those very same eyes. “Oh! My apologies, I guess I’ve been a little….” your words trailed off as you took him in up close now. Dimpled chin with the hint of stubble beginning to make itself known, ruffled hair that your fingers just ached to run through, and… and far sweeter eyes than you had caught earlier.
“It’s you…” you remarked with an odd sense of both surprise and knowing..
“It’s me?” his laughter rumbled quietly out of his chest, a small smile playing on his lips.
Your lips couldn’t help but reflect that same easy smile, moving as if they had a mind of their own. “Yeah, you who I caught staring at me earlier,” you said, arms crossing over your chest.
An almost bashful look crossed over Bucky’s face as you called him out, your playful tone turning into a teasing one.
You held your hand out as you introduced yourself, “I’m a Corporal.” you added.
Bucky’s grip was firm as he shook your hand, giving an extra flirting squeeze as he began to pull back. “Sergent Barnes… but you can call me Bucky,” his handsome smile and tone, while charming, definitely felt practiced.
“You warm up this fast to all your fellow soldiers, Sergent?” you asked, you raised your eyebrow at him as you made a point to use his title.
“Nah, just the special ones,” he grinned as he spoke. Truthfully, he didn’t even mean to pull out his ‘pick-up moves’ on you, it just seemed to come naturally as he found himself wanting to get closer and closer to you.
“Ah…  well this special one is bound to be gone soon, so you may want to save your lines for someone else, Barnes.” Your smile was modest as you you continued your walk, glancing back for just a moment to see him turn to quickly fall into step beside you.
“.... What do you mean you’ll be gone soon?”
Your shoulders bumped into his as you walked side by side down the thin path, “Our commander says that as soon as we’ve helped you guys push the line far enough that we’re off to the next infantry to do the same thing…” you said with a short shrug, but he could see heavier things bouncing around your head for just a moment. And for some reason, something changed just a bit inside Bucky when he heard that, and at once his lines all dropped away.
“Well… do you want me to show you around? I can show you the best spots for hiding from your commander.”
A softer smile graced your lips now as his voice became more humbled and sincere, “I would like that,” you nodded.
You bumped his shoulder once more, intentional this time, and he began to lead you around. Your strides moved in time as he pointed out his favorite hiding spots, but you could barely focus next to him. Your eyes followed his arm as he pointed to another building that looked just the same as the last twelve- but your gaze quickly kept gravitating back to the slope of that jaw and the light-hearted ease of that smile.
His eyes just caught you at the edge of his vision, his toothy smile widening in a way he could never hope to hide from you. You two stole glances at each other throughout the rest of the tour, seemingly besotted with the idea of each other, just like schoolchildren.
Ding Ding Ding
The dinner bell began to ring.
“Dinner already? But we only just arrived,” you said to yourself, checking your watch, only to see that you’d been walking together for hours already. “Oh, shit…”
A snort of laughter came from your newfound companion and Bucky waved you along, “come on… we can keep talking on the way to the mess hall,” He offered as he held out his arm to you, A simple but gentlemanly gesture that left your heart fluttering for a beat.
Without hesitation, your hand wrapped around his arm, your thumb brushing over the soft fabric of his uniform. His grin was bright like the sun as he felt you accept his offer but quickly worked to tamp it down before he let on too much. And like that, hand in arm, you followed his steps side by side to the mess hall.

Criminal: Part 1
1938 – Brooklyn
“I know asking you to be on your best behaviour is out of the question,” Steve piped up before the two of you had finished walking up the stately home belonging to the Barnes, “but could you at least try not to fight with Bucky every moment?”
The rolling of your eyes and the quiet grunt of disapproval of the notion had pulled a weary sigh from Steve. The two of you could never really get along much, not since the day Bucky called you ‘butch’ on the schoolyard for kicking some dolt’s ass after he made fun of Steve.
You growing out of the physical tomboy stage hadn’t changed that. Bucky becoming a playboy and dating every woman who would take him, hadn’t changed that animosity.
“Get him to change the size of his ego.” You grumbled, taking the stone steps up to the front door one at a time.
“Y/N!” Steve hissed, getting as close to pissed off as he could with you. “You can’t say tht-“
“The hell I can’t, Steve!” You turned and stared at your older brother, blue eyes looking into grey. “Its true! Bucky had the ego the size of Manhattan and Brooklyn-“
“-and their family has done a lot for us, Y/N. Since mom died and left us alone, they’ve helped us out.” Steve was trying to reason with you.
“That wasn’t Bucky. That was his saint of a mom and sisters.” You bit back, correcting Steve over Bucky’s involvement.
“Bucky asked me after mom’s funeral if he could do anything. He offered his help.” Steve rang the doorbell to the stately home, mansion rather, and wait for the Barnes family to greet the two of you.
“Pity the Rogers orphans who would be nothing without-“ Steve cut you off with a rather painful jab to your ribs as the door opened and the matriarch of the family appeared in the doorway.
“Come in! You know you don’t have to knock Steve.” His mother greet Steve first, and then you.
“You look beautiful, Y/N.” his mom squeezed your shoulder, flashing a gentle courteous smile your way.
“Thank you for inviting us.” Your voice was dripping with sugar when you spoke to anyone and everyone who wasn’t Bucky. You could stand them, you enjoyed their company.
“You’re like our family.” She stepped aside and motioned for the pair of you to go to the sitting room where the rest of the Barnes would no doubt be waiting dressed to the nines as they celebrate Christmas.
“Be nice.” Steve whispered in your ear as the two of you entered the first sitting room.
Like you had predicted, the four Barnes were in different places of the room with the three girls sitting on one of the deep cushioned couches in front of a serving table while Bucky was leaning against the wall with a whiskey glass in his hand.
“Nice dress.” He commented on your second hand tight fitting dress with a small missing button on the collar.
“What are you supposed to be? Some second rate mortician?” You seethed, moving past Steve while ignoring his pointed look, heading straight for the Barnes sisters. “Or is it insurance salesman? I forget what you’re calling yourself.”
You could feel his cerulean blue eyes digging into you just as easily as you could tell that Bucky had poured himself a drink yet hadn’t actually taken it.
“You get your dress at the dime store?” He questioned, making his way toward your group of girls.
“Along with my knickers. Why, you wanna see em?” The moment you spoke, Steve made a sound of choking surprise, the coughing and grunting he made from his place behind Bucky drawing everyone’s attention except yours and Bucky’s.
You were staring at him, unwilling to back down and concede. You wouldn’t let him get the best of you. You wouldn’t let his already bursting ego grow an inch more due to you backing down despite all of society’s social do’s and don’ts clearly stating that a woman should not be confrontational with a man.
“Y/N!” Becca laughed delicately, slapping your wrist with her fingers. “That’s so bad!”
For the second time in a short while, you ignored Bucky’s presence and turned your back on him choosing to focus on Becca, Marie and Elizabeth instead.
You wouldn’t give Bucky anymore attention than necessary.
Tumblr media
Curse him, Bucky thought. Curse him. Curse him. Curse him.
Your presence in their home would’ve been better handled if you weren’t so damn attractive. He could’ve kept his eyes off of you if every time you moved his eyes weren’t drawn to the sway of your hips.
Why couldn’t you have been a flat board with no shape and a crooked nose? Why did you have to have be so buxom and womanly? Why couldn’t you have kept that tomboy body from your early years?
Curse him, you were beautiful. Every god damned thing about you had such a direct impact on Bucky, every stupid little cursed thing.
But you were Steve’s younger sister and you were the bane of his existence.
You were beautiful, alluring and desirable.
Until you opened your mouth, that is.
Until you opened your mouth and became a lippy woman without a single care about propriety or social convention.
Curse him, that only made him more attracted to you.
Curse him, that only made him want you more.
He was one day set to become the head of the Brooklyn mafia, running an empire. Bucky was going to have a small army at his disposal, he was going to become a man of great power and wealth.
And yet, you mouthed off to him. You tore into him at any given moment, throwing whatever punches you saw fit and Bucky let you.
Bucky let you say what you pleased without so much as a single motion to stop you, and he knew full well he could.
Damn him, you were beautiful and you had such an effect on him.
If anyone else had even though to try and pull some of the shit you had…Bucky would run them through.
And yet, you got away with it.
“This is for you!” Becca’s eagerness had lift the heaviness in Bucky’s head and brought him back down to the reality around him.
“You didn’t need to get me anything.” You reached for the wrapped package and set it down on your lap, the softness of your voice drawing Bucky’s attention.
While you were busy looking at the wrapped book in your hand, he was busy watching you. He was busy studying the angles and lines in your face that made you appear as an angel in the moment, fair and breathtaking. If he had been any other man on the face of the planet, he may have thought you were ripped from one of the paintings on the Sistine chapel.
“A first edition?” You questioned upon gazing at the book that was once wrapped. “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Our mom used to read this to us.”
The smile that graced your face was heart-stopping, you were heart-stopping. Shameful then, that you happened to glance at Bucky and notice his staring.
Shameful then, that the softness and the gentleness was replaced by irritance and a scowl.
If only you knew that your gift wasn’t from Becca or Marie or Elizabeth.
If only you knew that it was Bucky who had gifted you that first edition favourite.
Curse him.
Damn him.

For a week now, there's been brewing anticipation surrounding the travelling Carnival that was arriving in town. Everyone was talking about it, everyone was going to it, as were you. You had agreed with your boyfriend Bucky that you would go on a double date with his best friend Steve, and his girlfriend Peggy, who was also your best friend, to the Carnival once it arrived.
And that day was finally here!
You had your arm linked with Peggy as you walked through the arched welcome sign, giggling and talking about how excited you were to spend some time with your boyfriends. You were in awe at all the colourful and twinkling lights. All the attractions and food stands were so intriguing, and you wanted to explore them with your boyfriend and friends, but it looked like Bucky had some other plans to start with.
“Doll,” Bucky took your hand, pulling you away from Peggy and Steve, “I know where we can go!” He held a boyish and playful smile—he was up to something.
“Hey! I thought we were hanging out together!?” Steve yelled after you two.
“We’ll see you guys later!” Bucky yelled back.
“Have fun! Be safe!” Peggy shouted with a giggle.
“Bucky? Where are we going? We can’t just leave our friends.” He walked fast, pulling you with him to wherever he was going. You couldn't help but chuckle at Bucky’s absolute determination to have you all to himself for whatever mischievous reason.
“They’ll be fine, doll. I don’t think they would mind some time alone as well. Now come on! I know a perfect place for us to go.”
He stopped in front of something called, The Hall of Mirrors.
“Oh, what’s this?”
“A mirror maze! It’s supposed to be very fun… and a little spooooky.” Bucky tickled your sides, making you giggle, as he drew out the O’s.
“Oh, Bucky, I don’t know. I-I’m not sure I want to.” You looked down in hesitation as you kicked the dirt. You wanted to go, but it was embarrassing how easily scared you got at the minor things.
“Darling,” he wrapped his arm around your shoulder, pulling you to his side, “it will be alright, I promise.” He gave you a gentle kiss for comfort and encouragement. You knew you would be alright with your sweet and caring boyfriend by your side.
The maze of mirrors was dimply lit, making it hard to find the way forward through it. The mirrors were creepy but intriguing—warping your face and body into twisted shapes. Because you were so attentive to them, you don't notice Bucky loosening his grip on you and heading deeper into the maze. Only when you turn to the side to comment on something do you realise he's left your side—leaving you all alone and vulnerable.
Now you're definitely horrified. The eerie atmosphere makes uncomfortable chills run down your spine, and goosebumps erupt on your skin. Your scared and imaginative mind makes up sounds and illusions, having you believe that there’s something terrifying inside the mirrors. You wrap your arms around yourself, hoping it will bring some comfort, but no. You need him to make you feel safer.
You want Bucky! Where is he? Why did he leave!?
“B-Bucky! Where are you?”
“Come find me, doll….” You heard from a distance, echoing in the network of mirrors. There was a sinister tone in his voice as he was toying with you, knowing how much of a scardey-cat you were. Although inherently sweet, he could be a menacing jerk at times—as he was right now. You walk carefully around each corner while calling out his full name.
“James Buchanan Barnes! Y-you better not scare me.”
“BOO!” He jumps out of nowhere, coming face to face with you as he screams. You shriek bloody murder as you wail your arms like a maniac, tears springing in your eyes at the crippling fear.
Bucky howls with laughter, clutching his chest as he almost falls to the floor at how good he got you. “Oh my god, doll! You should have seen your face. Oh, you got so scared, hahaha!”
You’re trembling as you cross your arms over your chest and present a sulky pout—not finding the situation slightly funny at all, but it looked like he was enjoying his little successful mischievous mission. “I-it was not funny,” you choke out, “you jerk!” You hit his shoulder and stomp your foot.
When his laughter died down, he could see how genuine scared and sad you got, making him feel bad. That’s not how he wanted this to go. He didn’t want to scare you to that extent. “O-oh, doll. I-I’m really sorry. I-I didn’t think it would impact you in such a strong way.” He inched closer to you as he spoke with sweetness and tenderness in his voice, feeling genuinely sorry for his behaviour.
“You’re such a jerk; you know that, Buck?”
“I know, doll,” he cradled your face lovingly while his thumb stroked your cheek, “can I make it up to you in any way?” He licked his lips as he ghosted his thumb on your bottom lip, pulling it down and separating it from the top. He wanted to make it up to you in the way he knew best, if you were up for it.
“Hmmm…” You wrapped your arms around his neck, locking him in place as his ones held your waist. You stood on your tippy-toes, your face inches from him as you grinned from ear to ear, knowing well what he was getting on about “... I supposed there is.”
He pushed you up against a mirror as his lips collided with yours, moving them with such eagerness, passion and sincerity as he poured into the kiss how sorry he was and how much he cared for you. He left you breathless in a matter of seconds, leaving such a powerful impact on you. You whimpered into the kiss as his cold hands went underneath your shirt, dancing his fingers on your skin, making you shudder, and your knees buckle at the combination of the kissing and touching.
“Did you bring me here so you could have me all to yourself?” You giggled and fisted your fingers in his soft hair.
“Mmm…” His lips ran along your jaw, making you moan at the teasing tingle. “... maybe I did. Maybe that was my plan all along. To get you in here so I could scare you and kiss it all better.”
He advanced the kisses to your tender and sensitive neck, caressing the skin with his lips before he kissed and licked your sweet spot, not missing a single area, making you freely release your sweet sound that edged him on to go even further.
He groaned as he found your lips again, kissing you with such hunger and need as his hand palmed your clothed breast, the other snaked underneath your long skirt to find your leg and wrapped it around him. He felt up your thigh, massaging and caressing the skin as he inches higher and higher, having a bold idea in mind for how to make you feel all better.
You pull away for a second, remembering where you were. “D-do you think it's safe to do this h-here?”
“Don’t worry, doll. No one is here. Now,” his fingers find your covered core, making you gasp as he teased you over the material before he pulled your panties to the side, “let me make it up to you. Let me make you feel good.” You made out again as he ran his fingers over your wetness, through your folds and circling your sensitive clit. His actions made you whimper against his mouth, and the anticipation of his fingers entering you made you melt into him even more.
Once he was done teasing, he pushed a finger inside your tightness, stretching you out. You gasp against his lips while your tongues caress as his digit finds its place deep inside you. A second finger accompanies the first one, having you cry at the stinging stretch of your walls.
“You wrap so perfectly around me, doll.”
“Oh, p-please, Bucky. M-more.”
He moves his digits in and out of your velvet walls, curving them upwards; the tips brush against your sweet spot, making you writhe against the mirror and your breathing hitch with each thrust of his heavenly fingers. He was so good, so attentive, with every expert move of him. He’d done this so many times before that he knew all the ins and outs of having you come on his fingers in record time. His thumb teased your clit, lightly touching it as he hovered over the sensitive nerve. He waited until you pleaded more.
“P-please, I want to come,” you mewl against his lips as you buck into his hand, wanting and needing more—craving that sweet and euphoric release.
He pressed hard on your precious pearl, circling it in earth-shattering movements that had you whimper and moan against his lips. The combination of the kissing and his hand working magic had you almost collapse to the floor, but he held you up with his other arm while you clung to his neck with all your strength. The tingling pleasure bubbled up inside you. You were so close, almost there, and with Bucky’s affirmation, you finally came hard on his fingers.
“Let go for me, darling.”
His mouth on yours drowned out the cries of pleasure as your tight walls clenched around his fingers like a heartbeat. You rock into his movements, savouring every sensation and memory of his delightful digits igniting an earth-shattering orgasm in you like only he knew best. He doesn’t stop until he’s drawn out every last bit of pleasure in you.
“Good girl. Just like that.”
He pulls out his fingers covered in your arousal, making you whine at the loss as he brings them to his mouth—sucking them clean while moaning at your sweet taste.
“Did that make you feel better, doll?” He asks against your lips, brushing them with his own, making you part yours at his teasing gesture.
You nod while chewing on your swollen bottom lip. “I-I want more.” You arch into him—your core aching for the feeling of fullness again. “Hmm…” he hums against your neck while laying light kisses on your skin, teasing you, wanting to build you up once more before giving you what you want, “… greedy girl you are.”
Just as he's about to pick up the pace, you hear a group of people entering the maze, making their way through it. You both curse as you scramble to make yourselves presentable before getting the hell out of there.
“Crap! Come on, doll.” He takes your hand as he leads you through the maze, both of you giggling at your naughty antics in The Hall of Mirrors.
When you come out the other end, you almost burst out laughing as you cling to your lover while he kisses your head.
“God, we’re so bad, Bucky.”
“So bad,” he confirms as he grins big.
Just then, you see Steve and Peggy about to head inside as well.
“Well, you two look in great spirits,” Steve says.
“Yeah,” you giggle while looking up at Bucky, trying to contain his smile, “it’s amazing in there.” You both chuckle at your little naughty inside joke, making the two other love birds look at you with raised and intriguing eyebrows.
“Have fun in there,” you tell Peggy and wink as you and Bucky walk away to get up to some more adventures.
“So,” Bucky drapes his arm around your shoulder as a playful smirk is plastered on his pretty face, “anything else I can do to please my girl?”
“Hmm…” You tap your finger on your chin, thinking for a second. “Oh! Win me a stuffie, please?” You pout as you bat your eyelashes at him, peering up with big doe eyes. You knew Bucky could never resist your pure and innocent face.
“Request accepted! Come!” He took your hand and pulled you to the nearest game he could find, so willing and eager to win a prize for his best girl.

Well something tells me you’re the same anon as before 💀
🍘- is there a fic or idea for a fic that you’ve abandoned?
Yes. Absolutely.
I don’t know if I’ve abandoned them completely, but I do have many that I just haven’t decided if I’m going to continue or not. Two of them were Part Twos to the Bucky fics In Five Years & One Call Away.
I think at one point I got too carried away with the idea of making two parts for many fics lol I have the outlines and even some of the actual fic written, but for now they will sit in my Google Docs until maybe forever.
Thank you for the ask! ❤️

How the Marvel men treat you on Valentines Day
pairings Bucky Barnes x reader warnings none, teeth rotting fluff, implied smut
masterlist
Tumblr media
You would think Bucky doesn’t care about this day at all. But in fact, he has been thinking for weeks about ways to surprise you and make you smile. Guess the young man from the 1940s comes back alive at this time and he can’t wait to see your reaction. And your reaction is one of pure surprise when you walk into your shared apartment to find a path of rose petals leading you into the bathroom. You follow them and when you open the door you find a nice bubble bath in candle light in there. You’re too stunned to even speak and suddenly a pair of strong arms, one flesh and one metal, wraps around you from behind. Buckys head rests on your shoulder and he whispers softly into your ear “Hey doll, happy Valentines Day” He helps you getting undressed, he already is, and then you climb into the bathtub together. Your back is to him and your head rests against his broad chest. He caresses you softly and gently. After you two are soaked through he helps you to dry yourself and then carries you bridal style into your shared bedroom. Your jaw drops once again as he has prepared a heart out of rose pedals on the bed, ready to be destroyed tonight…

Bucky Bear
TFAWS Bucky
Summary: Bucky gets "injured" on a mission in a different kind of way that only a certain sorcerer supreme can fix.
Content Warning: Language, FLUFF (both the fuzzy variety and the teeth rotting variety), established relationship between Y/n and Bucky, Sam and Bucky arguing (what else is new)
Tumblr media
“That’s still not a thing” Bucky yelled at Sam as they left the conference room.
“Oh, it’s a thing and we’re walking right into it” Sam replied, and Bucky scowled at him.
“Hey guys!” you said
Bucky slung his arm around your shoulder.
“Hey Doll” he said then kissed your cheek.
You were a consultant with the new team Sam and Bucky formed after the Flagsmashers. Sam was relentlessly teasing Bucky to ask you out, so he did and the two of you have been inseparable ever since.
“You leaving tomorrow?” you asked and Bucky nodded.
He hated leaving you, but Sam had asked him to come on this mission since Torres was busy and he didn’t have anyone else.
“Dr. Strange is already there. He asked for backup, so we leave tomorrow. Probably more diplomatic stuff and no fighting stuff” Sam joked, and you nodded.
“Should only be a few days sweetheart” Bucky whispered in your ear as he squeezed you closer to him.
You smiled up at your boyfriend.
“I know”
There was a small group of people claiming they were “wizards”.
After seeing what happened in New Jersey and with Dr. Strange, more and more people started surfacing claiming to be supernatural or part of an alien race. It was exhausting listening to it all. Sam was tasked with sorting through the crazies, possible real threats, and false alarms.
Sam sent Dr. Stephen Strange to Europe to investigate the claims of this new batch of “wizards”.
He since called for backup which is why Sam and Bucky were on their way.
The following day, you walked with Sam and Bucky as they made their way to a hangar.
“Just a few days, probably won’t be too bad” Bucky re-assured you.
“I know. I’ll miss you”
He wrapped his arms around you, hugging you.
“I’ll miss you too”
“Gotta go doll. I’ll text you when we’ve landed.”
“Sounds good. Stay safe. You too Sam!” you called over to Sam and he smiled and waved as he boarded the jet.
Bucky leaned down and kissed you hard.
“I’ll text you later.”
“Safe travels”
You watched Bucky board the jet. You stood and waited until it departed before you headed to your office as you had a mountain of paperwork to sort through to keep you busy.
When you got home that evening, Bucky texted you saying they were on their way to their safehouse, and he would facetime you when he was settled. Dr. Strange was meeting them there. You wondered why he didn’t do his sparkly circle thing and just bring them over to him, but he was busy with the troubled group of wizards.
You giggled at the thought of Bucky dealing with wizards – one of the things he argues with Sam about on a daily basis.
You had to lightly tell him that things like wizards and sorcerers could be real thanks to Dr. Strange, Wong, and Wanda. Bucky grumbled, but you knew he still thought the whole thing was a bunch of nonsense with his 1940’s way of thinking about certain things.
You tidied up your apartment and got things organized for the week when your phone rang. It was Bucky facetiming you. You smiled as you opened his call and chatted with him. You told him about your day and what you had planned for the week. He told you all about the flight, where they were staying, and what was happening.
Thank God the phone line was secure as you facepalmed at his conversation. Anyone cold have of found them with the info that Bucky was blabbing about. You made a mental note to have a chat with him about being discreet when he returned.
“Goodnight sweetheart” Bucky said on the phone while you snuggled in your bed.
“I’ll be home soon” he reassured, and you smiled.
“Night Bucky. Be careful”
You ended the call then snuggled down into your bed.
It was a few days since you last spoke with Bucky. You knew they were having issues but were managing the group of ‘wizards’ when you heard they had been contained and were on their way home.
You were relieved and went about your work while you thought about what you and Bucky would do when he got home. There were a few new movies coming out you had hoped you and Bucky would go to, plus a birthday party one of your staff was having you had to shop for something new to wear to it.
Bucky would probably hate going shopping with you and complain the whole time, but deep down, you knew he secretly liked it which made you chuckle as you checked your phone to see if Bucky had messaged you.
You found it odd he hadn’t sent anything, but shrugged and went back to work.
Sam was walking to your office at the newly rebuilt compound, nervously clutching a stuffed bear to his chest. He hopes you’ll understand. He has no idea how you are going to react, but he knows that it isn’t going to be good as he made his way down the empty hall to your door.
“Hey Sam! Didn’t know you were back so soon” you said from your desk as he stood in the entrance of the doorway and shuffled his feet slightly.
You were a little annoyed Bucky hadn’t texted you to tell you he was back.
“Hey Y/n”
“Where’s Bucky?” you asked, and he grimaced a little.
“Sam?”
Sam cautiously walked a few more steps into your office and stared at his feet. You turned in your chair to put your shoes on so you could stand.
“I hadn’t heard from Bucky for a few days…so I am guessing you’re all back from the mission right?” you asked, and Sam looked at you, pain in his eyes.
“Ah, Y/n, there’s something I need to tell you…”
He stood there watching you.
Your stomach dropped.
“Is Bucky ok? Where is he Sam?” you asked, starting to get a little scared.
“Well, you see, the thing is…” Sam said rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“Sam! Where’s Bucky?”
“Here” Sam placed a bear on your desk.
“Thanks for the bear, but where is Bucky Sam?” you glared at him.
He pointed to the bear and cringed.
You looked at it.
It was a small black teddy bear with bright blue eyes, chubby paws, cute little rounded bear ears, and a nubby tail. It was cute as you looked up from the bear to Sam.
“Sam? What the hell is going on?”
“There was a problem on the mission”
“What kind of problem?”
“Dr. Strange mainly handled the group, but he wasn’t able to…save…Bucky?” he said, and you gasped.
“What? Is Bucky dead?”
“What? No Y/n” Sam said, and relief washed over you.
You grabbed your chest.
“Thank God. But, Sam, what’s going on?”
You watched him intently.
“That’s Bucky”
Sam pointed to the teddy bear on your desk.
“Sam? What kind of joke are you playing”
“Y/n, I’m serious, it’s no joke, I swear!” Sam said, and you looked at the bear again.
He even had a small scowl on his snout, and it made you giggle slightly.
“Bucky?” you said out loud and picked up the bear, looking at it.
“What happened”
You hugged it to your chest and waited for Sam to tell you.
“The group of ‘wizards’” Sam scoffed “surrounded us. We thought they were fake, but it turns out, they’re real with very real powers”
You patted the bear’s soft black fur to help calm you.
“Dr. Strange managed to subdue them, but there was a lot of fighting back and forth, wizard fighting with colours and beams of light. Things were getting changed all over the place. Butterflies, bubbles, joke things you know? The wizards were annoying. Bucky got in the way of one of them when the group was going to go after a small child who was running away from the fight. Bucky shielded the kid, but he got hit with a spell from one of the wizards and turned into that” Sam pointed to the bear you were holding.
“Had to fight the kid off as he wanted to keep the bear. I had to trade the kid Bucky for some money” Sam grumbled.
You giggled a little at the sight then straightened back, looking at the bear.
“Bucky?” you said looking into the bears eyes.
“Fix it Sam!” you yelled holding the bear out in front of you and Sam grimaced.
“I can’t.”
You glared at him.
“Sam, my boyfriend is a god damned stuffed animal!” You yelled.
“What the hell am I supposed to do with this?” you sat down in an empty chair holding the bear close to you.
It was really cute, but you were mad.
“Sam – Can Dr. Strange fix this?” you asked.
A tear escaped your eye.
What if he can’t? What if Bucky is a teddy bear forever?
Your heart was racing.
“He can, but he’s busy with the group of wizards. He took them to a hermitage of some kind in Tibet. He said he needs to help them so they can’t cause any more damage”
You shook your head in disbelief.
“He said he’ll come back but I don’t know when”
You gasped.
“So, Bucky is a bear…while Dr. Strange hides away knowing this?” you asked, and Sam nodded.
“What about Wong?”
“Only Dr. Strange can undue this, Wong tried but was unsuccessful”
You looked down at the bear again and sighed.
“I’m sorry Y/n”
“What do I do with it? How long with this last?” Sam shrugged.
“I don’t know. Strange seems to think it won’t wear off anytime soon” your eyes went wide.
“So he’s a bear forever?”
“Well, until Dr. Strange returns. He did say he can fix it, but it won’t be able to until he’s back”
“Oh my god Sam!” you clutched the bear to your chest.
Sam patted your back as you sat there in shock.
“What am I supposed to do with this? Can he hear me?”
“Strange said he’s in there and can see and hear everything that’s going on” Sam said, and you nodded, looking down at the bear.
“Bucky? I’m glad you’re not dead. We’re going to fix this!” you said clutching the bear to your chest.
You let out a tear.
“I’m going to go now. If you need anything, let me know”
Sam walked out of your office leaving you with the stuffed version of Bucky. You held it in your arms and looked at it closely.
“You are pretty cute for a bear” you lightly chuckled as you hugged it close.
“I miss you” you whispered in its ear and sniffled lightly.
You put ‘Bucky’ down on your desk while you finished up your paperwork. You eyed it every so often and sighed, patting it, and adjusting it thinking it would be comfortable in different positions.
You shook your head and mumbled “God damn it” you rubbed your temples with your fingers.
You sent an email out telling your team you were taking a few days off to deal with things. You had no idea what to do with the stuffed bear that was Bucky. You felt like an idiot talking to it, but if Bucky was in there, he’d appreciate listening to you, plus it was kind of nice talking to it.
You also had figured, may as well take him with you wherever you went, in case Dr. Strange showed up. That way, he could fix him instantly and not have to wait for you to go back and get him.
You walked home with the bear tucked under your arms. A few people looked at you weird – a grown woman walking the streets clutching a teddy bear in her arms, but you didn’t care. Like anyone would believe the story of the bear being your boyfriend – they’d have you committed!
You wandered to the grocery store, placing the bear in the cart while you shopped.
You showed the bear the items you were buying and carried on a one-sided conversation with it like it was a normal thing.
A few kids smiled at the bear and pointed to him while he rode in the cart. You smiled the bear made them happy as you paid for your groceries and left.
You made it back to your apartment and placed ‘Bucky’ on the counter.
You felt weird talking to a stuffed bear, but for whatever reason, you didn’t mind. If this was how it was going to be for a while, then you just had to live with it.
You made your supper and sat with ‘Bucky’ on the couch while you watched TV, placing him on your lap while you wrapped him in a blanket.
You kissed his head every so often and chatted about the show you were watching. You debated whether to play a few episodes of a series you and Bucky were watching but thought no. Just in case he wasn’t “in there”, you left those alone because you didn’t want Bucky mad at you for watching some episodes without him.
You made your way to bed and tucked ‘Bucky’ in next to you, kissing him goodnight while you drifted off.
Your phone snapped you out of your daze as you waited for your breakfast to cook.
“Hey Sam”
 You finished your coffee.
“How’s the bear?” he asked, and you smiled.
 “Quiet”
 “Good”
“We’re going shopping Sam” you said and Sam laughed.
“Leave him at home” he said, and you scoffed at him.
“No Sam, I can’t leave him here. He’d be bored” you said, and Sam chuckled.
“Why not? Just put him on the couch and leave the TV on” he suggested, and you shook your head.
“Sam! He may be a bear, but he’s in there, I know it. I can feel him, and he would hate to miss out on things” you replied, and Sam snorted.
“What am I going to leave the channel on – the weather network? Sports? 24-hour news? He’d hate that not being able to change the channel which you know he loves to do!”
“Throw on a movie for him”
“Yeah, but what one?”
“Who cares, he’s a bear!”
 “Sam! It’s still Bucky!”
“I know I know”
“I’m taking him with me, that’s my decision”
“People are going to stare Y/n” Sam said, and you scoffed.
“Let them”
“Fine. I’ll let you know when Strange contacts me but you know how he is, he’s liable to just show up” Sam said and you smiled into the phone.
“Ok Sam, I’ll be ready”
“Have a good day with your little stuffed friend!”
“Thanks Sam, bye” as you ended the call.
“I can’t believe Sam said to leave you behind” you cooed at the bear and scratched his ear.
“I can’t leave you behind”
You  finished making your breakfast. You eyed up the bear and sneakily took a selfie with it cackling like a maniac then you looked over at the bear.
“Don’t give me that look. I want to remember this by” you shrugged while you ate.
Bucky is going to lose his mind at the photo you thought.
You wandered around the city with ‘Bucky’ in your arms, taking in the café, park, and did some shopping. It felt weird to you to shove him in a bag while you went about your business, so you carried him everywhere in your arms like before.
There was a birthday party from one of the agents in your unit you needed a dress for, so you took ‘Bucky’ to the store. The salespeople looked at you funny, but you wandered around, looking for a new dress.
“How about this one?” you said holding up the clothes.
“This one is cute!”
You took a few to the changeroom to try them on, placing ‘Bucky’ on the empty chair. You felt weird – like did you get naked in front of the bear? You left Bucky on the couch at your apartment while you changed yesterday.
Bucky had seen you naked before, but for some reason, you felt weird having this stuffed bear stare at you while you changed knowing he was in there, so you angled him away from you.
“There”
You kissed his head.
“Don’t give me that look – It’s weird having you like this” you said to the stuffed bear.
“Now, help me find a dress”
You took off your clothes and tried on some options. You found a dress and some new shoes as you carried ‘Bucky’ down the street with your bags and headed home.
“There”
You placed him on the couch and turned on the TV for him to watch.
“I miss you, Buck. Hope you had fun today. I’m sure you were grumbling and complaining though, being dragged to the stores like you usually do, but I found a dress and shoes for the party” you chuckled kissing its cheek.
You went back to the kitchen to finish unpacking your purchases.
You and ‘Bucky’ had breakfast together when you heard some whooshing and felt a wind gust from your living room. You walked in and saw Dr. Strange and Sam standing there, looking around.
“Hello?” you said, and they nodded at you.
“That him?” asked Strange and you nodded. He walked over and examined the bear then placed him on the floor in front of him. Sam stood next to you and watched. Dr. Strange closed his eyes and started moving his hand around, mumbling nonsense as sparks were flying as you had to shield your eyes from the brightness.
You and Sam turned back to see what had happened when you came face to face with Bucky.
“Bucky!” you cried and hugged him in your arms.
“Doll” he whispered in your ear.
“You’re ok!”
You patted him all over, making sure he was real.
“I’m fine”
He took your hands and held them close.
“What happened?” he asked, and Sam cleared his throat.
“What do you remember?”
Bucky stood there in thought.
“The fight? Wizards? Y/n’s office, getting groceries and shopping?” he said, and you giggled.
“Right, well, if you don’t need me, then I’ll be off.” Dr. Strange said and you smiled.
“Thank you for fixing him”
He gave you a nod and looked at Sam and Bucky.
“Wizards are a thing” he winked as he opened a portal and stepped through it, which then quickly sealed, leaving you, Sam, and Bucky standing in your living room.
“Well then” Sam said looking around.
“Glad to have you back Buck” he slapped Bucky on the back making him wince slightly.
“Thanks Sam”
“Guess I gotta walk like a sucker back to the office since Strange did that circle thingy without me. See you guys later” he said, mumbling nonsense about Captain America having to walk himself back as he left you and Bucky.
“Doll”
He wrapped his arms around you. You sighed and leaned into his embrace.
“I missed you”
“Me too”
You walked over to the couch and sat down next to each other.
“What was it like?” you asked, and Bucky shook his head.
“Honestly? It just felt like I was paralyzed. I could see and hear everything but couldn’t speak or move. It was a nightmare” he grimaced.
You felt bad for him and hugged him close.
“I’m sorry that happened to you”
“It’s ok. I’m back now”
“Thank God!”
“Thanks for taking care of me” Bucky said, and you smiled.
“Always”
“I especially liked it when you went grocery shopping. Lots of people looked at you funny” he chuckled, and you laughed.
“I know! I’m sure they thought I was a weirdo” you shook your head and Bucky smirked.
“But doll? Next time, I’m coming with you dress shopping.”
He said and you gave him a funny look.
“I didn’t get to see everything, and I want a re-do” he whispered in your ear, and you giggled.
“Fine Buck” you said, and he gave you a kiss.
“I’m hungry! Get our show ready and I’ll be back with some food.”
“Ok Buck”
You got the remote and pressed the buttons, making sure to get your show ready to watch.
“Thanks for not watching any episodes without me” he said as he sat back down next to you with a plate of food.
“No problem”
He leaned in and gave you a kiss on your cheek.
Things were back to normal, and you couldn’t have been happier.
Now, you just had to figure out how to get that image of the bear on a cake for Bucky’s next birthday…

Stay the Night
here’s some old-school Bucky in Wakanda smut. I didn’t think I’d publish Bucky stuff here, yet here we are. Hope you enjoy x
18+, smut, fluff. It's just you and Bucky in Wakanda while the team is away. He tends to his flock, you wish he tended to you.
Tumblr media
“Today is the literal meaning of ‘hotter than Hades’,” you announced as you collapsed less than gracefully on a broken tree log as Bucky Barnes shot you a look over his shoulder, sweat protruding from every pore in his tanned, muscular form, a tendril of long, dark hair falling into his glassy blue eyes from the loose ponytail behind his head.
Jesus, a man should never look that damn good, you thought, fanning yourself with your shirt, the material sticking to your drenched skin. Thank god the heat hid your blush.
“Bored?” he asked, scooping up a hay bail and loosening it for the goats he tended to munch on.
“Radio silence,” you replied. “I kind of feel like I’m in the way of the locals when I can’t contact the team. I haven’t heard from Nat, Sam or Steve in a few days. I am pretty useless at times like this.”
“That’s not true,” Bucky said, pointing at the water bottle you had parked beside you. “You brought water. I assume that’s why you’re out here in the midday sun,” he teased as you tossed it to him and he caught it easily with his right hand, twisting the cap off and guzzling the cool refreshment.
Every movement was pure sex, you sighed quietly as his throat bobbed, water falling from the creases of his lips and down his chin. Life seemed much fairer before Bucky Barnes.
“Thanks, Buck,” you rolled your eyes as he finished the bottle easily, crushing it in his palm and laughing at you, walking back to hand it to you.
“No, no,” he nudged your boot with his. “Thank you,” he went back to stacking and distributing hay as you said a quiet goodbye and told him you’d see him later.
Tumblr media
You hated when the team was away.
While you’d made some friends in Wakanda, you were still finding your way and mostly felt in the way of working alongside the Wakandan defence and communications teams. They used a lot more sophisticated tech than Stark had ever provided you and you’d never admit it out loud, the tech was somewhat confusing at times, thanks to its gross advancement over what you were used to.
You’d always be thankful for T’Challa and his family for taking you into the palace grounds, a necessity, T’Challa explained. It was beyond amazing and his lovely mother, Ramonda, fussed over you to ensure you were comfortable at all times. It was nice to feel so welcome, but so lonely without your family.
Steve, Nat and Sam had left days ago. Wanda and Vis were off the radar (lie, you knew they were having some kind of rendezvous in Europe and had no intentions of interrupting whatever was or had developed between them).
That left Bucky.
After he’d been woken from cryo, Shuri had run every test known to man on him to assist in the removal of the trigger words, he’d gratefully taken up residence away from the hustle and bustle of the wondrous city and hauled his ass out to the farmlands, simply requesting the peace, privacy and quiet. For the first time in over 100 years, he was able to be his own man without fear of retribution. Sure, the dark memories flickered occasionally, but the words would never hurt him again.
He enjoyed the serenity in the sounds of nature, with the exception of an iPod that Sam had gifted to get him up to speed on more modern music than the 1940’s bops Bucky was more accustomed to –
You sighed, hearing the knock at the door, interrupting the reverie of mindless TV. It was late, too late for guests. After dinner, you’d showered and retired to your PJ’s – your threadbare, well-worn Yankees shirt (your first souvenir of New York City when SHIELD moved you there years earlier regardless of your disinterest in baseball) and loose PJ pants. “Coming,” you replied, pushing yourself up to open the door, surprised to see Bucky on the other side - cleaned up, void of sweat and dust in lazy sweat pants and a white t-shirt. A casual Bucky Barnes. This new development was not helping your crush. Not in the slightest. “Hey. You lost?” you teased lightly.
He showed you a bottle of Glenfidditch and you chuckled a little, moving from the way to let him in. Closing the door behind him, you leaned back against it, a little confused about his visit as Bucky simply didn’t visit anyone aside from Steve or Shuri. You only visited Bucky occasionally to make sure he wasn’t segregating himself, but he did usually prefer his own company when Steve wasn’t around.
“Got ice?” he asked, going to the kitchenette for a couple of tumblers.
“I don’t actually – if I’m going to drink aged whiskey, I’ll be doing it properly.”
“Ooh,” Bucky cooed, a small grin growing on his lips. “A woman after my own heart.”
“Blame Steve – a few years back when we all moved to the Tower… fuck, just after Ultron maybe? Steve brought out a bottle of this stuff and I’ve been a convert ever since. He said you guys would destroy bottles together.”
“Well, he did. I would drink responsibly though I didn’t know at the time I could put them back as well as Steve could with the serum running through my veins,” he said, bringing the glasses to the coffee table, cracking the top and pouring you each a glass. “Are you gonna join me or hang out by the door?”
“Sorry,” your face flushed as you skittered over and sat at the other end of the couch. He handed you a glass and gave you gentle ‘cheers’ before you sat in silence for a while, enjoying the smooth amber liquid. “…Bucky, if you don’t mind me asking, why are you here?”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. “I dunno – you seemed a bit forlorn today. Thought I’d try and be a friend,” he shrugged. “You’ve been pretty accommodating to me since we got here. I guess I could repay the favour even if you’re only checking in on me for Steve. And you’ve got air conditioning,” he tossed in the joke to try and lighten the mood.
“Steve didn’t ask me to keep tabs on you,” you admitted.
“Oh,” Bucky said, sipping his whiskey and easing back on the couch. “Do you like it out here?”
You chewed your lip, dropping your eyes to the glass. “I mean, it’s a hellova lot better than being shipped out to The Raft,” you admitted as he stifled a chuckle.
“True.”
“If I’m going to be on the run for associating with the team, it might as well be in one of the most securest places on the planet.”
“You chose well,” Bucky agreed.
“Would have been stupid for me not to take it. I owe T’Challa, and Steve, a lot.”
“They’re good men.”
“Absolutely.”
Silence overtook the room again though there was no discomfort with it.
“Thanks for havin’ a drink with me,” Bucky said as he polished off his glass. “It’s getting late,” he got to his feet.
“Oh,” you said, surprised. “Okay.”
“I don’t want to impose,” he said with a gentle shrug, collecting his tumbler.
“You’re not imposing. It’s nice to have the company, to be honest,” you confessed.
“'Nother glass then?”
“Definitely,” you said, hoping not to appear too eager. Bucky gave a small nod and poured again.
“I know I’m not much of a talker,” he told you as you sat and cradled your glass close to your chest.
“I just enjoy the company regardless of noise levels,” you shrugged. “It’s different when the team is here, but when they aren’t…”
“When they aren’t?” he pressed.
“I have too much time with my thoughts.”
He raised a glass. “I hear that.”
Your glass joined his. “Why are you in the farmlands then and not in the palace?”
He nodded slowly as you hoped you hadn’t overstepped the mark. Blame the first glass of booze – less than tipsy you would never ask such a question. “Just tryin’ to earn my keep – least I can do since T’Challa is harbouring an international war criminal, assassin, murderer – ”
You gave a gentle laugh. “He’s not harbouring you.”
“Protecting me then,” Bucky corrected himself.
“Maybe protecting you,” you admitted, agreeing.
You both continued a polite conversation, mostly about Steve and the team before you both started dozing at your respective ends of the couch. “I should really head out now,” Bucky said.
“Stay, it’s a million degrees out there.”
He gave you an incredulous look that told you he knew what you were saying, but staying was still a terrible idea. Suddenly overwhelmed, you realised it completely sounded like a blatant invite for sex. It wasn’t, you thought. Was it?
Trying telling your libido that.
“If you stay on your side of the bed, Bucky, and I stay on mine, we won’t have any issues,” you try to regain your composure.
“Are you completely sure?” he looked about as convinced as you thought you were.
“My God, it’s sleep,” you told him. “I would never deny you, of all people, Bucky, sleep.”
Bucky nodded slowly. “Okay. Thank you.”
“It’s far too hot to stay out there overnight. Enjoy a night’s sleep in the air con,” you joked. “If you enjoy sleeping in comfy climates, hey, you might even move in here.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. “Here?”
You blinked a few times, not catching his tease. “Yeah, like here, the palace.”
He laughed. “Okay.”
“Oh, you thought in here. With me,” you barked a laugh, getting off the couch and heading for the bed, Bucky following a safe distance away. You stifled your discomfort with snark, “Oh, darling,” you leaned forward to cup Bucky’s stubbly chin. “Don’t think so highly of yourself.”
“Oh darlin’, don’t fall for me so quickly. It’ll only end in heartbreak,” he mocked in return. You laughed incredulously, thinking to yourself, ‘too fuckin’ late, buddy’ and moving to your side of the King bed and pulling the pillows towards yourself.
“If you’re truly concerned, here. Build a pillow wall with me. Put that hay bailin’ practice to good use.”
He sighed with a gentle smile, he was thoroughly enjoying this cheeky banter you’d suddenly worked into your conversation and helped you build the Great Wall of pillows.
“Perfect,” you said, fixing the last pillow in place.
“That is an impressive pillow wall,” Bucky concluded, stifling a laugh. “Failsafe.”
“Make yourself comfy,” you told him, laying back as he pulled off his soft cotton t-shirt and folded it, placing it neatly on the bedside table next to him, a habit he’d picked up in military training in the 40s and never really lost it, no matter what control he was under, you imagined.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he told you. “It is a lot nicer inside than out.”
“Told you,” you replied with a chuckle, raising a fist to him over the wall.
“What is that?” he chucked.
“My knuckles? You’ve never knocked ‘knuckles’ with someone? A fist bump?”
He laughed louder. “No, I’ve never fist-bumped.”
“Then hit my knuckles with yours,” you instructed as Bucky did as he was told.  Still confused for a second, his hand met yours gently before opening and clutching your wrist in his warm, rough-skinned hand and bringing your open hand to his lips. The rules of the pillow wall were suddenly crumbling before you. Destroyed so easily.
“You need to behave,” you told him, suddenly very nervous.
“I’m finding it so hard. We’re here and I know it’s not just me that is feeling this, sugar,” he continued kissing to your wrist and moving towards your inner elbow as he got to his knees. Your body betrayed you as goose pimples shot up and down your spine and you found yourself sitting up opposite him. “All I wanna do is compromise this pillow wall.”
You could cut the tension in the cool room with a knife as your eyes burned into his. Chewing his lip, he made no secret of his intentions as he licked his mouth and walloped the pillow wall away.
Suddenly there was no divide and you were looking at each like they were your last meals. “Can I kiss you?” he asked shyly.
“If you don’t, I’m going to kiss you,” you retorted as he skimmed across the sheets to you and pulled your body flush to his. He sunk his fingers into your hair and pulled your face to his, leaving a small kiss on your waiting lips.
“Is that okay?” he asked, almost afraid.
“More,” you demanded as a reply. There was nothing forgiving about it – you were suddenly craving him – his mouth, his touch, his body, his scent and he was surrounding you in a way no other person had before.
He moved back a little. “One minute – I gotta explain…” he breathed gently. “This is kind of my first time being intimate in a long time. I know this,” he looked at his left shoulder, ashamed. “I know it’s not sexy. And if you don’t want to be with me because of it - ”
You grasped his face in your hands, forcing his eyes to meet yours and kissed him lightly. “Believe me when I say I do not care, Bucky. I know you do but I need you to know, this changes nothing for me.”
“I’ve imagined this so many times with you, pleasing you and now we’re here, I just…” his soft Brooklyn accent rumbled. “I just imagined it as me. The old me.”
Your head spun – he felt the same way? Jesus Christ, assassin school taught him surely how to fool you into believing he barely knew you existed.
“Well, I only know this, Bucky – I’m pretty crazy about you.”
His eyes flickered. Maybe it was emotion, you weren’t sure.
“You’re the sexiest man I’ve ever seen.”
This time, he blushed.
“So maybe, you should just lay back,” you said, helping guide him to do so, his head settling amongst the remains of the disastrous pillow wall and you kissed him, he moaned just loud enough to hear. “And we have a good time, okay?”
He nodded, nervously. “Okay.”
“Now, relax,” you said, unsure where your confidence was coming from but you knew he needed you to lead him and you were going to treat him right. He deserved this – you, and all of you. All for him.
You ungracefully tossed the sheets from the bed, they’d just be getting in the way and crawled towards Bucky’s feet, grabbing the loose elasticised ankles and pulling at them, the sweats he wore drawn from his slender hips, descending his powerful thighs and calves before you disregarded them all together, leaving him solely in boxer briefs. Calvin Klein, how so very rude.
And dear, if your mouth didn’t water at the surprise he poorly hid in them.
Kissing his ankle and working your lips up the inside of his legs, tickling behind his knee, he shuddered. He shuddered hard. “Fuck,” he muttered. You smiled against his skin, lips moving again, your hands massaging his powerful thighs. Stopping at his waist, you crept onto his lap and pulled away your shirt. Bucky sighed, his hand reaching out to touch you. You leaned closer to him as his arm skirted around you, pulling your body flush to his to kiss you, your tongue tracing his full lips as he enthusiastically opened his mouth for your tongues to meet. His hand scalded your skin as he groped at you lightly, cascaded your side and tangled into your hair, deepening the kiss as his hips started to move beneath your body, his cock needing the friction.
You paused and raised a finger to him. He raised a confused eyebrow as you scampered off him to lose your sweats, no panties underneath. You didn’t let him get a good, long look at you before you moved to rid him of his boxers, hard cock free and you gave him a few encouraging pumps, his eyes rolling back. “Sweet Jesus,” he begged for mercy. “Please.”
“Please?” you raised a teasing eyebrow and sat on your knees between his muscular thighs. He was asking you to go down on him. You’d never felt so willing before to please a man as you were for to do for Bucky.
“Please,” he tried again as you could see this man didn’t need to be teased, he just needed to be wanted. Adored. Loved.
“Okay. Okay, now you sit back, Barnes. And you let me take care of the rest.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he tucked his arm behind his head, licking his lips as you took him in your palms before an encouraging kiss to the head and taking him into your mouth. “Dear God,” he managed to say through groans. His hand found your hair again, pushing your hair from your face to see what he thought was the most beautiful mouth he’d ever seen work over his body. “Baby, that is so good. So hot,” he encouraged, clutching roughly but not enough to hurt, just enough to spur you on. You continued your ministrations for a few minutes more before he guided you away from him, gasping. “Baby, stop. I’ll come.”
You blinked at him. “That’s okay,” you promised. “I’m a big girl, I can take it.”
He grinned at you. “I’m sure you can. But I don’t want to come in your mouth,” he admitted shyly.
“Oh,” you gave a gentle nod. “I thought I was doing something wrong.”
He shook his head, alarmed. “God, no. You were a little too good at what you were doing,” he reassured you. “Get up here,” he pulled you to his face to meet him for a lingering kiss. “You could kill a man with that mouth.”
“I doubt that,” you got suddenly shy, burying your blushing face in his neck as he guided your face back to his.
“Don’t get bashful now, sweetheart,” he gazed at you like you were about the best damn thing he’d ever seen. You didn’t know how or why, but the look turned you on more than any act prior to right then. You just wanted to make him happy, release him, and feel him come apart under your hands. “I have an admission to make, and fuck, I hope this doesn’t come across as shitty…” he said quietly.
“What’s that?” you asked, suddenly feeling very exposed regardless of you lack of clothing.
“Uhh… I don’t know, logistically, how I make this work without you on toppa me, baby. I’m sorry, I don’t want to crush you if something goes wrong,” he looked as though he wanted the bed to eat him whole.
And why, you don’t know. But his admission gave you the confidence you didn’t expect. “Is this you suggesting I ride you?” you gave a small giggle as he chewed his lip.
“Lil’ bit, yeah. I know that sounds so goddamn selfish – ”
“Giving me the power over you makes you selfish?”
“Well, it takes away a fair amount of effort,” he reasoned. “And you know, I wanna show you what I can do…” his voice trailed off, timidly.
And suddenly you understood. This wasn’t just about a missing limb – this was the pain and terror from all those years ago. The raw, never-ending trauma of Bucky’s initial testing, falling from the train in the Alps. Losing his arm seemed so minute in all of it. Years of physical and mental abuse, and psychological torment at the hands of HYDRA, of the Soviets, whoever was the highest bidder for The Winter Soldier.
This was touch, connection, feeling wanted and adored – oh, how needed to Bucky understand how much you wanted to be the person to help him.
You tutted him and inhaled, gently cupping his cheek, choosing compassion. “Relax, handsome, lay back and enjoy,” you instructed as he nodded slightly and wrapped his scorching hand around your ribs. It was such a simple act, but it turned you on so much. It felt possessive, wanted. “I want to make you feel so fucking good – will you let me?”
You don’t know why you asked, but you knew you needed to hear him tell you he wanted this too. “Yes,” he nodded shyly. “Hell yes.”
“Okay,” you leaned down to kiss him, reached between your bodies and in your warm hands, adjusted your body on his. Viewing Bucky as he felt you sheath your body around his was as good as it could ever get – his plumb lips drawn into his gleaming white teeth, his bright blue eyes hidden behind his long lashes. Giving him some time to adjust, just like you were to his size encouraged you as he lightly raised his hips in hopes for you to move. “You good?” you asked again.
“Better than, amazing,” he told you, gripping your hip and your body slowly started to move above him. “Jesus Christ,” he uttered, raising his eyes to look at you.
Taking his hand and linking your fingers as you relaxed and stopped trying to ensure his good time (it appeared ensured) and sinking into feeling so good yourself, you moved your hips more, craving Bucky deeper, hoping to find that elusive little spot to make you explode.
“Touch yourself?” he pleaded quietly. “Please, sugar?”
Appeasing him happily, he watched your free hand creep down your body and open yourself up to where your bodies met, your fingers putting on a show as you toyed with yourself just for his dark, lust-filled eyes. Your body tightened under the pressure and Bucky’s pleasured grunts and curses was certainly on the rise. His hand relinquished yours as he clutched onto your ass, forcing you rougher into him, his tempo speeding up and urging you to do the same from the friction his body caused yours.
“God, you feel so good. So wet, so warm,” he muttered, his breathing deepening as his hips haphazardly fired into you. “Are you close?” he asked desperately. You were, you so fucking were, you realised, his simple question bringing you even closer. You nodded as you pressed harder against your clit, desperate for your own release and of course, his.
He needs this, you reminded yourself. You needed this. “Fuck, yes,” you replied as he used his abs to sit up, suddenly so much deeper into you as you looked at each other face to face, chest to chest and Bucky kissed you. He kissed you with those beautiful lips and a tongue that knew exactly how you wanted to be kissed as he moaned into your mouth. He wrapped his arm around your waist and took a nipple into your mouth as you started to come – that was the move, the special way to push you over the edge. Realising this, Bucky grinned and looked at you, using those pearly whites to chew lightly and you were coming. Coming so hard that you felt like you might have seen stars as he let out a litany of curses and came hard too.
“Oh, sweet Jesus,” Bucky breathed, chest heaving as he rolled onto his back, taking your body down with him, keeping you wrapped in his embrace and softening inside you. Bucky Barnes liked to cuddle, you realised.
“Holy shit,” you managed to say as you tried to settle your breathing. “That was fantastic.”
“Really?” he asked bashfully. He looked you in the eye and begged you weren’t lying to him. You nodded and tenderly kissed him. “Good,” he gave a small, shy smile and suddenly appeared so boyish. “Thank you.”
“You don’t have the thank me,” you told him. “Trust me, I’m just glad you stayed.”
“Fuck, me too,” he laughed. “Me too.”

Hearing your phone beep, you shot up through the heaviness across your chest and halted you. Bucky’s body subdued you – the body heat he exhumed was hot and stifling. He groaned, pulling you back down to him.
“They’ll call back,” he muttered. “Sleep.”
“It’s the team,” you whispered back. He breathed heavily, reaching out for the phone for you reluctantly and putting it in your hands. Relief washed through you. The team, including Wanda and Vis, were returning to Wakanda imminently. “Did you sleep okay?”
Yawning, Bucky slightly freed you from his grasp. “You weren’t wrong about sleeping comfortably – I mean, I don’t deserve to, but it was the most relaxing sleep I’ve had in years.”
“I’m glad to hear it, Bucky. Truly.”
He soothingly kissed your naked shoulder. “Thank you for last night.”
“I just hope you enjoyed yourself.”
“So much,” he breathed against your skin, rolling you to your back and lightly pining your body under his. You loved the feel of his weight on your body. You would come to crave it. Addicted and all in less than 12 hours. You’d fallen so hard, so fast. “Did you?”
“Yes,” you couldn’t lie. Bucky’s body was made for a multitude of sins and loving on a woman? The top. He kissed each eyelid that fluttered closed under his touch, the tip of your nose, his mouth travelling through your throat to your décolletage. “Behave…” you teased, your fingers lacing into his long, dark, loose waves.
He laughed into your skin. “Okay,” he nudged your knees apart, his hips meeting yours. He felt as if he was flying – he’d never imagined the confidence he felt, that you’d given to him. Or how you could have destroyed it by rejecting him. The power you had over him was stifling. That was a hellova lot scarier than what was to eventually come.
“What did I say?”
“You told me to behave.”
“And what did you do?”
“The exact opposite,” he admitted. “I just can’t seem to keep my mitts offa you. You’ve opened the floodgates, sugar. I don’t know if I’ll ever be the same again.”
Your phone beeping incessantly now, you found yourself in a world where only you and Bucky ceased to exist. The rest of the world could wait another hour.
