I feel like the folks who are like 'yeah but queer has been an actual slur whereas gay and homosexual have not' should maybe learn some queer history.
They were both considered such slurs for such a long time that university papers couldn't use them, because they were too derogatory. They had to say 'men who have sex with other men' because gay and homosexual were too derogatory, too much of a *clears throat* slur if you will, to put them in academic papers as anything other than hate speech.
I beg. Please learn some queer history. No word for us has ever not been a slur against us. We reclaim. We move on.
I know obviously the plan wasn’t to make Mac gay in the early seasons but every time I watch back I think of Mac with internalized homophobia so bad he has convinced himself he was straight. Mac getting called slurs and bullied so relentlessly that he builds an impenetrable persona, one he won’t even let slip when he’s by himself, terrified once he lets it fall he will be too exhausted to keep it up. Mac getting so tired of spending almost two decades of his life pretending to be someone he isn’t that he gets sloppy, Mac who can’t even get himself to have sex with women anymore. I know it wasn’t the intention but they made one of the most accurate portrayals of internalized homophobia I’ve ever seen in media.
umberto eco why are you calling superman and batman homosexuals what do you fucking know WHAT DO YOU KNOW ECO WHAT DO YOU KNOW
[ID: Block of text reading: "In this respect, note Roberto Giammanco's remarks about the consistently homosexual nature of characters like Superman or Batman-another variation of the theme of "superpowers." This aspect un-doubtedly exists, particularly in Batman, and Giammanco offers reasons for it which we refer to later; but in the specific case of Superman, it seems that we must speak not so much of homosexuality as of "parsifalism"' end ID]
michael sheen never fails to astound me. never have i seen so much homosexual energy encapsulated in a single cishet actor. by homosexual energy i don't mean how effeminate he is (bc he's about as effeminate as a regular joe i'd say) but rather the fact that if he's not playing a queer actor then he makes everything around him queer. truly amazing. i am in awe.
fun fact: i'm a freddica enjoyer, and the fact that it has less popularity and less proper content (aside from the old fanart and cringie animations) annoys me. i'm not into other fnaf ships but these two are the exception
the idea of them together may sound cliché BUT NO WAY I'M GONNA STARVE FOR THE ETERNITY to see at least one piece of media.. it's crappy i hate it.
