I just wanted to tell you that it was pretty much single-handedly your fics and art that got me into the DP x DC (specifically Dead Tired) brainrot. Both the characterizations and the storylines are so beautifully crafted (and the art too, but that's obvious lol). Thank you for putting so much time and care into what you're doing for free. Thank you for pulling me into this wild fandom. Thank you for being you!
You're so sweet!!!! They are on my brain 24/7. I wasn't really into shipping danny with any of the bats when I first entered the crossover fandom, but i read some deadtired oneshot and i have been waist deep in this quagmire ever since. I'm so honored that now I am the one to drag other people in.
Have a cozy fall vibes wip that i never finished the background on :)

image descriptions: three photos of a painting of an anthropomorphic dog and hippo embracing against a black background. The dog is blue with a thin, round head and a long green ear that hangs down. She has her arm wrapped around the neck of a small red hippo nuzzled under her head, who returns the hug. Both are smiling, their eyes closed contentedly. To the bottom of the painting their bodies fade into the black background, which is subtly swirled with red, orange and green. To the side near the dog's head is a blue piece of paper with faded white text that says "HOW SWEET IT IS." The first image is of the painting with no border, while the second image is of it on an easel, with softer lighting. The third image is a closeup of the little paper with text on it. End descriptions.

it's pretty annoying seeing so many of the people crying out to support artists and that ai is unethical (both very true takes) playing palworld and shooting down anyones justifiable criticism. I avoided the whole thing for awhile, thinking the talk of plagiarism was greatly exaggerated twitter beef and seeing a lot of big gaming channels jumping to its defense. Wasnt interested in the premise and was content to let it pass by, happy that the game would put pressure on the pokemon company to actually give game freak time to develop a good game for once. And then I saw this.
This is outright stolen, like. laughably stolen. There are other designs too, that outright steal or are questionable. but how the fuck can you say you give one shit about artists and then simp for a game that steals what was most certainly an overworked artists design wholesale? If that was the end of it, I'd side eye loud supporters but not comment.
(Fakemon designed by EtherealHaze)
Yeah. they also pretty blantently stole from a fakemons design. someone already made a post breaking all of everything down it outright steals but i trust ones eyes to see it immediately. I've seen plenty of people cry "but it's always ok to steal from corporations!!" (even if i think that excuse is fucking dogwater when it comes to art) well then, here's your example of them stealing from independent fucking artists!!
Pirate the game if you must but dont claim you care about artists and then turn around and bite our heads off the moment we point out that the game that very clearly plagiarizes artists! Also on the ai thing, even if it hasnt been proven the team used ai for any of the designs, the studio has apparently dabbled in it in the past and the ceo is an ai supporter. so. that sucks also.

Mike and Will both would’ve died in season one if someone didn’t save them. They both have dramatic near death experiences that are set apart from everyone else. Will needed cpr when they found him in the library, and Mike actually jumped off a cliff. Those two situations both went far enough that it would have been too late for them to save themselves. And that’s why either of them dying at the end of the story doesn’t make sense. They’ve already almost died. They were already too far over the precipice to turn back by themselves.
Maybe a conclusion to this could be the two of them learning how to live by themselves. In the monologue Mike says that, “[he] doesn’t know how to live without [El].” And while Mike’s just saying whatever he can in that moment, what if there’s truth in that statement? What if he doesn’t know how to protect himself. How to not jump off a cliff and be caught? And Will’s hated accepting help for a while now. But always has to rely on people to save him in the end. Maybe Will’s going to figure out how to protect the people around him- without putting himself in harms way.
Maybe the conclusion to this story is learning how to save yourself. To love yourself as much as everyone else does so you can protect them too. Strength doesn’t come from self sacrifice. Not in this story. Barb, Bob, Eddie- they didn’t run away. They didn’t make sure they themselves were safe. And all their deaths have caused has been pain. Being the hero gets you killed. But trying to live? Will reaching out for his mom when he’s stuck in the Upside Down? She came to find him. Whether they believed her or not. Will was alive, and she went to save him. And when El was on her own in the woods, Hopper put eggos in a box. He took her in, and kept her safe. From everyone- maybe a little too much at times- but he went to her. And he protected her.
But Nancy’s right. “They aren’t little kids anymore.” They’re not going to have someone to protect them all the time. They’re going to have to be strong enough to protect themselves. Strong enough to live. Not sacrifice themselves to save everyone else.

every piece of media should have siblings that have a complicated relationship because of something out of their control and one of them wants nothing more than to fix it and one of them wants to completely disconnect themself from their sibling

Saw someone say they didn't like Saltburn because the movie doesn't explain Oliver's mental state and why/what led him to do what he did.
And I. . . What? We are doomed. The children are being left behind, and they have no media literacy. No comprehension of nuance. Put down the YouTube, movies explained, and over analyzed reviews masquerading as film essays and pick-up books.
Other than the fact that not everything needs to be explained to make something understandable or even good, it is explained. Oliver wants what they have. That's it.
(Not fully it, but the majority)
Maybe him growing up upper middle class confused them, but still.

considering taking a major break from everything rn, I've been talking about my fic for a while and my mental health has just been so shit lately that I haven't been able to work on it at all. I think I'm going to take a break from tumblr altogether and revisit this later

i hate the whole rhetoric of like. "lol unemployed behaviour" because it is incredibly reductive, can reduce worth to employment (insane thinking) and tends to gloss over people who are unemployed and stuck in unfavourable circumstances they cannot escape but like. sometimes there really is a type of detachment from the rest of the world that comes from being unemployed. it's not like a "touch grass" mentality like a lot of people use it to mean, it's actually kind of the opposite? there are whole swaths of people who just. cannot comprehend the weight/breadth/whatever of the 40 hour work week. not to say that they have better circumstances. just to say that they so clearly have no idea how fucked up the other set of circumstances are.
i don't know how to explain this. but sometimes i am talking to a person who clearly has the free time to do things i am just flatout incapable of doing, and on rare occasions they use this to hurt my feelings ("oh yeah we wanted to invite you to x event, but you're always working!" / "why can't you come to my thing? can't you just make the time for me? am i not important to you?") and it's like. this is unemployed behaviour. not because worth is tied to work. not because you need to touch grass. but because it sometimes hits me like a truck how much time you have to touch grass. and still with all that time you couldn't find the empathy for my own inability to. i would if i could.

How did he get outed?
Our story starts 300 years in the past, where after learning of Volo's betrayal of Akari, Warden Ingo seeks him out before he can leave Hisui to head to another land and leaves him with a parting gift that Volo won't be forgetting anytime soon.
Now it's 300 years in the present, and it's a busy day at the Battle Subway! Emmet has just gotten off the Doubles Line- it was a verrry successful day, and he is in a good mood! But as he's heading back to the main office for his lunch break, he sees some kind of commotion. When he approaches to find out what's going on, one of the Depot Agents tells him that a strange blonde man suddenly approached Ingo after his morning shift on the Singles Line was over and started bothering him. Something about Zoroarks?
Ah. Emmet knows those nasty rumors well, so he marches straight towards the center of the crowd. Ingo briefly catches his eye, but that’s just the distraction needed, as it turns out- the next thing anyone knows, the blonde man has done... something and all of a sudden, Subway Boss Ingo just slumps over like a puppet with its strings cut- and behind it is a strange white Zoroark the likes of which they’ve never seen before, that looks just as shocked as them.
Then it’s chaos, as Haxorus and Chandelure erupt from the (unconscious? dead?) Ingo’s pokeballs and force the crowd back, and before anyone can stop it, the strange Zoroark scoops up Ingo’s body and just runs, disappearing into the tunnels. Before vanishing, it briefly makes eye contact with Emmet- and in that moment, he realizes that he’s looking at his brother.
and that’s the last time he sees Ingo for a verrry long time.

i do love analysing media and art and unfortunately this is where i am most confident talking and i am very bad at stuff like: talking normally and like a person fostering relationships in the world with other people
