So, the Hazbin Hotel official trailer is out for good this time ! What exactly happens in it ?
youtube
Well basically the entire plot of the series.
This is barely a joke. They spoiled the entire series in a single trailer. Boy am I excited to see what just played out in a 2 minute video in a much longer, way less funny way for 40 dollars.
First of all I'd like to comment that the Alastor on the cover of the show, aside from just looking... Not good, is also directly traced from the announcement of his redesign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is just hilarious. His facial shape and emo hair were just too hard to learn, they had to trace over the image they already got him down in to draw him again. And this isn't even the first time they do that, because they already did it with Cherry Bomb in the first set of promotional images they dropped before the trailer. The first is just an image of her reference sheet directly placed over the background, second is her in-show appearance from the trailer. This is going to be So Good. (/sarcasm)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly, any and all intrigue and momentum this show might've had has fallen completely flat on its face thanks to this trailer, which tells you point by point exactly what is going to happen in the series. Which include, but isn't limited to:
- Charlie having a reunion/reconciliation with her dad, Lucifer, AND ALSO a revelation for his wings, which I feel is a much bigger deal than it is being presented as. (Without any sighting of Lilith herself, by the way.)
- Charlie meeting with Adam and Lute in heaven, and them blowing her off for her ideas. (Adam's first words in this series are going to be "Fuck", because that's how you know he's an angel)
- A close-up for a seraph character, which... okay. Great way to build intrigue for what Heaven is like in Hazbin Hotel. I mean, the subtlety here is just off the charts, right ? (THE VALUES ARE GOING TO MAKE ME CLAW MY FACE OFF)
Tumblr media
- Hell is going to go to war against Heaven... and this is revealed in the trailer-? The trailer for the series it's going to happen in ? In the first minute ?? This is so damn lame. I mean, if you're going to just show the audience everything that happens before anything has a chance to be processed, next time show the ending in its entirety why don't you.
- But that's still a lame ass plot point. Your idea of a morally complex, subtle story that deals with mortality is just "EVIL GUYS VS GOOD GUYS BUT WITH AN #EPIC TWIST !! THE DEMONS ARE GOOD AND THE ANGELS ARE BAD !!"? That's the entire premise of your show, and you show everything it is going to delve into in TWO MINUTES IN ONE TRAILER ??
- Huskerdusk is canon I guess. Hooray. Gay men visible on the screen that's so cool and never seen before. Not like the other series was entirely focused about mlm relationships and this series has a sapphic main couple for you to explore. Crazy.
- Vox and Valentino are going to appear and I guess be major antagonisrs in the story.
All of these events are happening in the series and you get spoiled for Every Single One of them. Instead of clever foreshadowing or subtle hints at what might be built up from looks into smaller plot points, you just watch 2 minutes of what I assume is 2 whole seasons condensed. That's not a good thing, because now I am going to be completely unimpressed when something major DOES happen in the series, since I know beforehand that everyone just keeps living to do More Stuff Later. The audience has no time to build up expectations for what happens next because everything is just happening Here and Now. It's very underwhelming to say the least.
Third, the voices just... don't sound very good. Angel is out of place, Alastor is never going to live up to what he used to be before (I don't know why his filter is weaker now– it makes it so much less unique), Husk is good but I know damn well he's going to be underutilized unless its for shipping's sake, Vaggie is just whatever, and Charlie sounds like every "Chipper princess who wants to do good" character out there, so much so that when she was singing I was reminded instantly of Rapunzel from the Tangled series way more than the show's actual pilot. Other characters either just don't talk enough or sound too generic to be properly critiqued.
For so much spent on broadway professional voice acting, you'd think they'd have more of a clue on how to Voice Act, or at least be given more direction in how everyone sounds like instead of just Saying Words in a way that is Similar Enough to the old cast.
This isn't to demerit the voice actors– They're all talented people on their own, just watching one of their performances on literally anything else should give you a good idea on that– But their acting here just doesn't...cut it. There's no feeling of authenticity, because all they're doing is an impression of a cast that once was, instead of bringing their own energy to the table and breathing new life into these characters. And it Sucks dude, because you KNOW this isn't what they sound like and you KNOW it could've been way better if they were just allowed to do something new for this show, but ultimately it all hinges on the writers and directors for it... and those people are, uh, not doing a great job.
And finally, the animation. Boy, I have a lot of thoughts.
This show is already infamous for having Way Too Red and for the values not being too good, all things I've said previously about Helluva Boss, but do not worry ! Instead of red, this show is Way Too Purple, and the values aren't just kinda bad, they're straight up just Awful. I don't want to crap all over the artists and animators that worked on it, they're just making do with what they have, but... lord.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This last one is slightly less egregious, but the sky mixing with the city and obscure the light of the actual tower, which is THE CENTRAL FOCUS ON THE IMAGE, just looks really... sloppy, which in turn makes the whole image seem even more disorganized. There are not nearly enough dark tones to accomodate for the amount of mids and lights, and so everything just blends together in the most disorienting possible way. Like, Vaggie, who is a MAIN CHARACTER, is on that first image. Did you see her? Because if it wasn't for the cut preceding that scene, I deadass wouldn't have noticed her there.
I don't know. I don't like being pessimistic about things before they come out no matter how much it the trailers don't convince me they'll be good, but this is just really amateurish. The entire plot is revealed, the colors aren't good, the voice acting sounds whatever at best and the animation itself just feels like it was crunched to oblivion. Not a good outlook on everything so far, but hey, maybe if we all go into it pretending not to have seen the trailer, it'll be a Little Better, right? Right.
Man, I can't wait to see the direction this train heads. Hopefully not down a hill.

I have finally scanned and uploaded all of the 2010 Spring issue of Original Plumbing to internet archive for people to read for free. This issues focuses on health and safe sex in a transmasculine context, and features interviews, articles, and artist spotlights. You can buy this issue as well as others by the magazine on their bigcartel page here, and I really encourage you to support them!
Image descriptions:
1. A cover of a magazine depicting a shirtless white trans man with short dark hair and facial hair smiling at the camera. He is standing against a brick wall. In the top left corner is the logo of the magazine reading OP trans male quarterly , with more text in the bottom right reading “the health and safer sex issue N0.03 / spring / 2010 /US $8″
2. A cropped piece of interview text reading: What is the hottest safer sex encounter you've had lately? Well, a funny Eros story. I was fucking this hot transguy with my gloved hand. At some point I needed more gloves and we had run out of them in the bin on the bunk we were playing on. At this point we had quite an audience so I leaned over and asked some guy to go get me more gloves. He did and I went right back to fucking that boy senseless. You just needed a helping hand! True, and I figured they were getting a show so they could at least help out. Wow, did any of them comment on the hot action they were witnessing? Or did they just watch and enjoy?
3. A cropped piece of interview text reading: You also are a go-go dancer with TransLicious Entertainment. What's the craziest thing you've had happen to you in a go-go setting? I just started go-go dancing, so unfortunately I don't have any crazy stories. But I do have something to share with OP, because it happened after I finished dancing at the OP issue #2 release party, which was amazing by the way. It was about 7am, I was finally laying down to go to bed, still buzzing with the excitement of the night. Suddenly I thought, "I'm a transsexual and I'm beautiful!" and I realized I had never said that out loud before, so I did... and I started balling my eyes out. The journey of self-love has been such a long and sometimes painful process. But, I have to say, ever since that night, I feel unstoppable.
4. A photograph of a shirtless East Asian trans man with short hair crossing his hands over his chest and looking into the camera with a squint. He is wearing a white baseball cap, a necklace, and a wristwatch.
5. A photograph of white trans man in a speedo with brown short hait, snake bit piercings and glasses smiling at the camera as he pulls on a white latex glove.
6. A cropped part of a poster decpiting two trans men looking into the camera. The one on the left is a black man with  a bit of facial hair and long black locs. The one on the right is a brown man, with short black hair. The text above them reads “paps matter for trans men.” ED.

RE: Female artists "preaching to the choir"
today I read this response to a Barbara Kruger's video installation Untitled (No Comment), a video that claims that she is "preaching to the choir". The funny thing is is that usually when I see a critic claiming this about a feminist artwork its usually a man, but in this case it was a woman.
I've found a lot of things accusing feminist artists now-adays of 'preaching to the choir' with their artwork, hell, I've even had this critique of my own work. And yet the same person who asked me if I was preaching to the choir with my liberal audience say that feminism wasn't necessary anymore in the same conversation of discussing FGM and that women making artwork in response to sexual assault was essentially trite.
The idea that the art world and the audience to art is more liberal and therefore less misogynistic is insulting. I've heard from several other artists that "those women knew what they were getting into" when discussing Picasso's rampant misogyny and wife beating, chewing and spitting out younger lovers like sticks of gum before exploiting their image under the pretense of 'muse' status.
how can it be preaching to the choir when as recently as 2012 and far back as 1989 the Guerilla Girls have pointed out that women only make up 4-5% of the artists in the modern art section of the Met Museum but 76-85% of the nudes.
Is the art world and its audience somehow removed from the rest of society at large? Is the art world even more liberal when the primary patrons and purchasers are the 1%?
Ive also already made a post about this that got heat from the misogynists on this website about the amount of art depicting rape that lines the walls of the met museum. They claim that because it's fine art, that because its the masters, that its okay. That its just a historical document. But why has the scene "The rape of Europa" been done over so many times it could be the equivalent of a 'standard'? Why is it that sexual violence is so glossed over? What does making such glorified art about rape do to a population? Why are depictions of rape made by men heralded as high art?
I wonder if the connection can be made between the fact that we know violent pornography lowers men's empathy towards rape victims, making them more likely to believe rape myths, and the fact that our museums are lined with men making rape scenes 'beautiful'? And if that connection can be made, the idea that women making art about their own trauma is 'preaching to the choir' is ridiculous. Why can male artist after male artist make 'beautiful' fine art about rape but when women make 'ugly' 'visceral' 'trauma' work about their own experience with sexual violence that its no longer okay?
super corny response and shift of the original assessment these critics are making is how can that be preaching to the choir when the supposed choir is made of up crusaders from the opposition?

This ask isn't directly for Wilbur or the blog, but rather the person who runs this. A bit of an ooc ask about world building and expanding this universe since I'm invested
Are we as the audience perceived as people in this universe watching this show/documentary about Utah at our homes, sending in questions via telephone. Or are we just random people that show up in the gas station and keep coming back one by one at random times to talk about the "Dabi cosplayer". (I'd like the imagine the second one; just a but of faceless people pressed up against the glass outside asking the weirdest questions. Fits the vibe)
Do you, the owner of this blog, have a part to play in the universe? Are you the director to the show, a main camera man, or something else.
The fanart that's made for this blog, I'd like to imagine it's—again—just faceless people running up and slapping drawings they make on the convince store windows and running off, leaving the producers and Wilbur with it. Stuff like that :]
Im gonna be honest I said I was gonna do author q&a today specifically so I could answer this ask because I feel weird just answering it willy-nilly
I tend to be... pretty bad at storytelling. I always get wayyy too into my own head, and things get so complicated to a degree where only I can understand whats going on, which is something im obviously trying very hard to avoid. However I don't wanna sacrifice the story I want to tell, so I'm just doing my best here.
One of the biggest limitations right now is that I'm just struggling to explain exactly how the world works/the translation between "Utah" and irl/us. The biggest ones are time and what exactly is being aired, because obviously it doesn't take one whole day to answer two questions, but I don't have the energy to answer more than two q's per day. And of course the 'film crew' arent actually filming Wilbur while he's sleeping or anything like that, but it's hard to tell the story I want to tell without having scenes like that. Im hoping that things will get smoother as we go, but for now I've just been making it so that episodes that dont have 'transcript's in them aren't filmed (or have "artist rendition" notes), and lets say that even though its been over a month of answering questions for us, it's only been two or three weeks for wilbur.
As for what you guys are, you're viewers who are calling in from home! Kinda like a radio show. No one is physically showing up to the store or his house (that would be really funny though). I did have some scrapped ideas that I may bring back later about the film crew, but for now "they" dont have any deeper place in the story. I'm the camera man, I guess! I've been imagining it as just some guy with a camera in one hand, a headset to listen to calls, and a little paper pad to write down answers.
Tumblr media
There are 886 asks in the inbox right now! Not all of them are asks, some of them are just comments about whats happening (which I love, I <3 hearing what you guys think) but unfortunately I can't answer all of them. I have a general outline so whenever I do pick story/plot asks, its ones that fit that outline, and every other time I just try to be funny.

I was typing out the whole story and reasoning behind the pictures I chose but it was getting way too long (because I ended up going down a rabbit hole). Basically I found an old blog from 2010 where a girl had posted a picture of her room, it was a very positive post so I didn't think it would be offensive to use it (also there's a comment from 2016 on the blog post asking if the image can be used as reference, no reply, the author of the blog has not logged in for years). The bathroom was made in the Sims 4/I used pictures of my own dorm bathroom

What a night
It was an unexpected gift, appreciated and enjoyed.
On the life of me I can assure you that I never believed that I would become part of the events of yesterday.
The rest I put behind the cut, it's too long and in case anyone wants to scroll and ignore my ramblings 😉
It all started by contacting another fan and meeting to see the atmosphere, curiosity mainly due to the fact that it was the first time that this event with Sam was held in Spain and, specifically, in Madrid, in my city. And I had another fan giving me virtual spanks if she didn't at least come look. The surprise was arriving at the building where it was going to be held and my friend telling me that she had gotten a double invitation and that I was her guest.
At that point my zen attitude went down the drain lol.🤣
During the waiting time at the entrance we observed the people who were queuing to enter, we assume that everyone had an invitation and the joy of the people was already noticeable, some came from Glasgow, London, Paris,…Honestly, I have always considered myself fan but not fanatic and it is a universe that surprised me by the amount of time and money that people can dedicate to their idol. Of course everyone is free to enjoy it in their own way.
It also gave us time to see the organization and it was disturbing to see that there were no fences, a bad thing when there are certain fans who have no limits and it could be a security problem.
In that time I also learned about the micro universe that is fan groups, their sections and their leaders. Not only was I already warned of what I was going to find, but it is worrying how these people become the "best fans" with the right to direct/say what to do and try to get noticed by all possible means. I think these women are not aware of the image they project, for me it was really creepy.
Once the gates opened, and we took up positions in the best places we could find, we had to wait a long time. The group I met with made funny comments, photos, selfies, and we watched people do the exact same thing. I saw solidarity and good gestures. Next to me was a girl with an older person who turned out to be her grandmother, because the young girl was accompanying her, the fan was her grandmother! hahaha. 🤣 The average age? The truth is that I saw everything but there were younger people than I expected, also some boys although fewer.
And we keep waiting. With the music on loop and there was nothing happening. They warned that the doors were going to be closed and people would not be able to go in or out and we stayed like that for a good half hour in which the mobile phones were on, focused on the doors waiting for the great appearance but the people from backstage were joking opening a door and then another. My phone battery was going to die if I kept waiting like that. Lack of foresight on my part because I had not expected to see myself in that situation a few hours before.
Until the master of ceremonies arrived dressed in a kilt and began to make jokes and cheer the audience. Now I know that, during that waiting time and the appearance of the emcee, Sam arrived and spent those minutes taking photos and signing the cards and books that would then be drawn at the end.
Yes, there was a raffle at the end, but I'll get to that.
And the big moment arrived and with it the madness, well, you'll be tired of watching videos of the grand entrance. Luckily for me he entered through the door closest to where he was sitting and I could see it in his full height.
And with him I also noticed two bodyguards who were part of the entourage that accompanied him to the stage.
The panel does not deserve that I tell you much more than what has been seen, it is there for those who want to see it in the usual places. Correct, funny and affable with the translator (thank goodness, I thought I wasn't going to find out anything), the interview was about what we already know or have seen in other events or interviews.
My shipper side was happy. Cait is always present in one way or another. At first he said that he practiced Spanish with her on set when he found out that he was coming to Spain (something unnecessary to say when the event was about him) and then, watching the scene at the printing press when he said that she shined . 🥰
The magical moment, for me, was when they aired the wedding clip, Jamie Fraser introducing himself to Claire with his full name. A chorus of voices recited the long Scotsman's name at once, myself included.
That was the moment, it is when you feel part of a community.
But there were also uncomfortable moments for women who do not know the limits of decorum and knowing how to be. Yelling things at Sam that would make him feel uncomfortable. The moderator had to divert the conversation on a couple of occasions. I will only put, for example, that they shouted insisting that they put on the wedding, the wedding night. Or comparing Sam to Jamie and asking how they were alike and yelling that it was her body. Sam deflected saying that was a body double.
That is the problem that I see in these meetings, the objectification and only considering it a piece of meat. And the liberties that certain fans want to take.
And as he arrived, he left, surrounded by security and with the phones taking photos and videos to save the last memory.
The doors were closed again and they wouldn't let people out…because there was going to be a raffle.
Then I understood Movistar's strategy in this event, intelligent and that made security very good. All the people were held in their places until Sam left, the same as when he arrived. Thus, complicated situations were avoided. No fences were needed at the entrance for that reason, it was never the intention to let Sam get close to people.
It may have been something that disappointed many, but it was much better that way.
And with the raffle came moments of embarrassment, because the bottle of water from which he had drunk was even raffled… anyway.🙄
The fun thing about the raffle is that there were signed books, Scottish cushions, cards with his autograph,… but do you know what really drove people crazy? The fan that he had used and he got a girl from our group hahaha.
Photos? I did a few but they weren't very good and I knew much better photos would be posted and videos too, I preferred to look at the stage and enjoy.
I will remember being able to be in the right place at the right time, thanks to the great generosity of my fan friend. Without her this would not have been possible and neither would I have been able to share my experience with you.
Will I repeat if the occasion arises again? I don't know, honestly. It has been magical because it was unique in Spain and that is why it is already special. When the time comes, if it comes, I'll think about it.
For that, thank you, thank you, thank you for doing the impossible so that I could enter the event. My little, jovial and nervous Fairy Godmother 🥰
Thank you, also to those enthusiastic girls who accompanied her and to whom I was able to put a face to several of them.
And thanks to Sam for having been encouraged to finally come to my country.

sweet aftertaste─ 4 a.m
summary: one night after the off-collab your thoughts hunt you, except for this time there's someone there to break them apart.
characters: ike eveland x gn! reader
c/w: mentions of smoking (reader), bad mental health, dealing with depression, intrusive thoughts, kinda angsty at first, angst to fluff, first kiss, night confession (not proofread cause it's late & I'm tired)
a/n: something I wrote while listening to The Neighborhood cause it's my favorite band and my favorite way to self-destruct
Tumblr media
The clock was almost hitting 4 am when you decided to step out on the balcony for some fresh air. You didn't expect to feel like shit when you met Vox, Mysta, Nina, Ike, Mika and Luca in person. Don't get me wrong, they're the best people to hang out with; sweet, caring and funny.
The only problem was your own head, reminding you of all the things you did in the past, reminding you that maybe you didn't deserve this happiness. Your actions, your self image and how everyone saw you from the outside only caused you more anxiety. You were aware of yourself all the time and you couldn't avoid thinking about what others might think of you. You told yourself you'd look for help, you told your audience that you're taking care of your mental health but now everything feels like a bitter lie that you made everyone believe.
With a shaky exhale, you closed your eyes, letting the smoke of the almost finished cigarette in your mouth disappear in the darkness of the night sky. “Maybe I should cancel the stream tomorrow with a vague excuse..” you mutter under your breath, catching the salty tears on the corners of your eyes. Another glance to the far ground from the balcony made you bite a sob back.
“[Name]?” A soft-spoken voice appeared in the silence of the city, catching off guard. It was Ike.
As fast as you could, you got rid of your tears, sniffing and squeezing the used cig before turning around. “Ikey, what're you doing here this late? You should be sleeping by now.” “I could ask the same question you know” he took a look at you, his expression turning into one of concern. “Is everything okay?”
"Bet you look stupid right now" you inner laughed at your comment, depicting once again as a failure. At least, you tried to hide it from everybody else. “I'm perfectly fine, why do you ask?” You could hear him exhale, taking some steps in front of you so he could have a better view. You knew Ike wasn't an openly affectionated man, but feeling his own palm on the flesh of your cheek made you shiver. “You can talk to me...you know that, right?”
Your eyes never left his, so caught up in the moment you didn't even notice the tear falling down your cheek, the same cheek he was holding. His eyes softened, pulling slowly into a hug to comfort you. “I always feel like I don't deserve anything...and I can take it anymore Ike” you mumbled on his chest, gripping the shirt tighter each time you recalled the awful memories. His hand found your head, stroking really slow and the hand that was holding your waist pulled you even closer to his body.
“I'm here...don't worry, love...” his words felt like a dream. You thought to yourself: how can someone like him make me feel so alive yet pull me into a sweet slumber. He always made sure everyone was okay, even you, and you couldn't thank him enough for everything he's done.
“Why are you so fucking perfect for fuck's sake...” you sighed with your head low. “No wonder I fell in love with you” you blurred out without noticing, laughing while cleaning your wet cheeks with the sleeve of the jacket.
“You fell... In love with me?” It stuck out to you the fact that an accidental confession spew out of your mouth, making you launch your head up in hopes to not be met with a disgusted face. For your luck, Ike's eyes were bright open with almost the reflection of the moon on them and cheeks flushed red.
You took the matter slowly, gently grabbing his hands while standing straight in front of him. “I guess..you now know it but yeah...it happened a long time ago. I don't know how it happened,I just know that you made me feel loved when all I could do was destroy myself...” your eyes wandered anywhere but his face, afraid to hear a cruel comment.
“If I had known you felt the same... I'd have confessed earlier” his hand raised your chin, a small smile graced his lips before adding something. “I'm really glad that I made you happy [name], you're really important to me”. With a silent question from him you nodded before letting him taste your lips, softly turning into a candy-coated first kiss.
Maybe your nights won't be as lonely as before.

see you soon (kurt kunkle x fem reader)
Tumblr media
hi guys here is part 3 :) warning for this one on body image issues. anyways more to come!
after kurt posted a vlog of you two messing around at the mall, you had gained more followers. it was a bit scary at first, more random people joining your audience that weren't familiar with you. a clip of you guys went viral on tik tok, it was just a snippet of the video where you had pranked a group of middle schoolers. kurt thought that was the most hilarious bit, posting to get the video watched on youtube.
with all the love and support on your comedy, there came the hate.
you weren't so acquainted with the rudeness of others online. you were lucky enough to not have to deal with much, just a few people saying you weren't funny or something stupid. it never really hurt until you took a deep dive through kurt's comment section.
immediately you were sexualized then chastised about they way you look. some people said you were fat, others saying you were just shaped weird. everyone was conflicted on whether you were pretty or not. it pissed you off, that wasn't even the god damn point of the video. you were pranking asshole kids not making a thirst trap or something.
kurt was just excited he went viral. he would send you screenshots of his numbers rising. you would join his live streams and there would be a couple thousand people watching him drive people for spree. it was like he didn't care that everyone was shit talking you.
but the rational part of your brain brought you back. it might be possible he didn't know, and it's not like he doesn't care, he's happy about his newfound fame.
it was taking a weird toll on you though. you hadn't gone out other than working for a few days, wearing the same baggy t-shirts and sweats over n over again. kurt had asked to hang out and you declined him, only finding time for work where you were forced to change into baggy jeans instead of rotting in sweats. good thing they only cared about nicer pants and wearing the company vest.
you just felt weird about yourself, your brain analyzing and berating everything, deteriorating your thoughts to only being self analytical.
you had a show down with a box of crackers. you were hungry but you were scared to eat, so you just stared at them.
just eat.
don't you even dare.
it was like a devil and angel on your shoulders fighting. you just kept getting frustrated.
your phone then started buzzing, scaring you as you grab it off the kitchen counter.
face time call from kurt... shit!
"hey," you smiled, trying to make it seem like you are okay.
"hey, uh want to livestream with me right now?" he asked. "chat wants to see you."
you kept your eyes on his pretty face but you felt sick by his words. you don't even want to be in public but you wanted to see kurt. it was truly a dilemma and you didn't know what to choose.
"uh, i don't know kurt," you said in a weary tone. "i haven't been feeling the best."
his face turned from happy to confused.
"are you sick?" he asked, his face looking worried.
"no, i'm just not feeling it," you mentally punched yourself for not just going. "just tell them i say hi or something."
he picked up his phone from the stand in his car and hung up the call. you were weirded out and shocked that he just hung up on you. was he mad that you said no? what were you suppose to say? tell him that his comment section made you want to cry and has sent you in a weird spiral?
you just sighed, walking back to your room. you were about to turn on your laptop to watch something on netflix and cry until your phone buzzed again.
it was a regular phone call from kurt. you stared at his contact photo which was just a shitty photo of him with a bra on at victoria's secret. you debated on answering him but you like hearing his voice so you gave in.
"uh hey?" you answered, hesitancy filled your voice.
"im so sorry for hanging up, i ended the stream so i could talk to you better," his voice rang out. "i thought you said you would stream with me when i ask?"
is that all he cares about?
"well kurt i said i don't feel good," you responded with haste. "maybe a different time when i don't feel this way."
"what happened? are you okay?" he asked with this weird tone, like he was mad that i didn't feel well.
"it's stupid, kurt," you threw yourself backwards onto your bed, your head hitting your pillows. "you'll just think i'm being stupid."
he sighed, "if it's so stupid, why is it a problem?"
exactly. why is it?
"im just sad, okay?" you almost took out your anger on him, the urgency spilling out. "when i get sad i want to just be by myself. i don't post or livestream, i take breaks from my content and stuff. especially because it isn't great for me right now."
he was quick with his reply, "when im sad it helps me to talk about it, i will talk to my mom since i trust her... even when she is the worst. do you want to talk to me? i can come over and just let you like do your thing?"
you smile at his kindness and unneeded advice. you knew that it would feel better if you just talked about it but you weren't ready to just spill all your newfound insecurities onto someone. yet you wanted to cry to kurt, tell him about how people are mean and have him sympathize.
"yeah you can come over," you say just above a whisper, your voice getting quiet out of nervousness.
"whatever it is, i will do what i can to make you feel better," he said in the same quiet voice as you. "i don't want you to ever be sad, (y/n)."

Cucumber Day 5 Watching Con's Filmography
(I also listened to a short story he'd been in, scroll down a bit on my page and you'll find it. For everyone who watched this and needs a refresher only on Con, someone finally posted a compilation on youtube. If you haven't seen the series, you'll probably be lost. But I'm sure its a fun out of context watch)
Summary wrote after binging the entire series in one day.
Please, Please, Please go online and check every warning for this show. Not only for the graphic hate crime but see everything they warn about. Protect yourself. This review will discuss sexual topics, nudity, and substance abuse, and age gaps.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the show. I think it was fun, not the best tv show, and has some mixed messages, but a fun watch.
I grew up in a household/town where sex wasn't discussed. Especially queer shit. This show is very in-your-face about it and I admire the shit out of it. The friendships felt lived in. The experience of being a young queer 'hunted' by older queers was explored enough to not make Henry a complete hypocrite, sadly. But the focus was always more on Henry, even in the end, Henry still got off on the image of a 20 something during sex.
Fully noting, I did skip scenes. Some things were just a bit much for me, so I took the liberty to save peace and move on. Yet, the show does seem to balance heavy moments with joy and comedy. Hell, during a fucking funeral, some guys need to go check their dicks for hair. And you know what, I feel that if Lance were there, he wouldn't even be suprised.
I loved Freddy. Holy shit, at first, I was worried about how he'd be treated, but by the end, I was rooting for him. Obviously, the guy is just so used to being hunted for his body. This topic was brushed on with the teacher, and not really felt by the plot or the characters around him. I'm happy he felt like he could leave and just grow up as a person. I'm so happy they let the audience see a time jump where everyone turns up okay, and happy.
I'm not a queer man, but I know this shit can resonate. I've seen queer men online discuss these same points. Predatory age gaps, the pressure to be hot, aging, commitment, and communication issues in relationships...This isn't the best show for all that to be taken seriously but I'll leave that discussion to that community.
So Con's character, Cliff, was right about Henry in episode 1, and I fucking love when writers do this shit. "You always did that. Never had affairs, just obsessions." Cause in the context, yes, Henry never cheated. But he never has deep relationships; he has brief obsessions until things get too serious and he needs to move on. Hell, In episode 8, that's the conclusion Henry comes to himself. "Maybe one day I'll come to terms to it...being gay". Cause he wants intimacy but fears men and getting close to people. It's that closeness he struggles with.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The things that bugged me about the series
The entire bit about the boys playing chicken for internet attention. Again, I know this is a thing. But now a days we legitimately have children doing this stuff unknowingly for people online. Or parents unknowingly showing their children on tik tok for millions of people. I know people who were groomed, and avoided it like crazy growing up as a kid online. I cringed every time this plot point was mentioned, feeling like a kid was a second away from getting hurt. It just felt a bit much to touch on for me in this type of show. Again, they tried to have their cake and eat it too by showing Harry get a slap on the wrist, but it just didn't feel like it justified the plot line being there in the first place. Seriously, what did it add to the story besides showing Henry that maybe he should go back home? He could have done so many other things. The only funny bit is when Cliff commented how fucking weird straight people are sometimes.
Cliff says in ep 1 he had a history of going after older men when he was young, and the age gap is boggeling. Again, this could mean he only had a crush on him. But if we're going to bring up how wierd it was, then why is this and the teacher sub plot where minors brought up the only time its mentioned. Like yeah, the teacher-student situation was fucked up. How about the 30 and 40-year-olds going after people in their early 20s. "I'm horrified to discover I have standards." Fun line Cliff, yeah. But they are literally minors. Age gaps and taking advantage of younger queers is a real issue in the queer community. There should 100% be a place to talk about it. But when every 'likable' character does it without issue, then it's still a problem. Hell, this is why Freddy's plot felt so out of left field in ep 8 with Cliff and him fucking before running off. I don't know why he did it, knowing that Cliff wanted him for his body? Or maybe he just wanted comfort after that argument and knew he'd get it by having sex? I genuinely want to know other interpretations. If Freddy felt like this, it would have been more satisfying for Henry to learn his lesson and not use 20-year-old Freddy as wank material for the next 6/7 years. Also, Freddy running away from Cliff with his pants down was just funny.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, wash most of that out of your head!
The fun part that we have all been waiting for-
TALKING ABOUT CLIFF COSTELLO
(Yes, Cliff is kind of a douche early on. Enjoying eyeing Freddy and praising Henry for leaving his boyfriend for a 'young boy toy'. But, as the series goes, it dies down. Cliff, pre-episode 6 was a fun jackass. Post-ep 6 is one of the best characters in the show and the best friend you could ask for.)
I have seen most gifs online for this character. The soft outfits, smoking, suits, smiling. And fucking YET. The three scenes to me that make me love this character are-
"And obviously, I could take a statement. Have a briefcase with me, files and a pen. Because solicitors get searched entering a prison just like everyone else, but I'd still have a pen. Because a pen is all I'd need, really. I think it would take me a second to lean across and insert the pen through his throat. Right here. At the base. Straight through to the spine. (I could do that.) He'd bleed out in seconds. Dead. So... that's what I'll do. With your permission." I need Izzy to do this speech. Please god. In all your infinite wisdom. In this moment, I 100% felt that this lawyer would murder the murderer of his friend in sheer rage with a fucking pen.
Cliff pulling up(no crutches *curtsies with a smile*) to save Henry's ass from saying something stupid to the cops after their place gets ransacked. Stepping in and ensuring Freddy doesn't assault someone in front of cops.
"I look forward to the tribunal because the law is magnificent in this regard. It's not up to us to prove homophobia, it's up to you to prove homophobia does not exist. Best of luck. Thank you." AHHHHHHHH Smarmy, confident, smiling Con, I love it. Maybe the hottest thing Cliff does in this series, the outfit, the glaring before hand, the confidence, and AHHH.
His stand-out moments are when he's being a loyal, caring motherfucker. Trust me, after days of seeing a sad, depressed, miserable Con, seeing him thirsting after men was fun. Seeing him make dick jokes and act like an 'Elder Gay' that protected his own did heal my soul. But there was just a fucking genuine happiness he brought to the role.
I love that, even though he's a character Henry can rely on, Henry would never stay at his flat. (Obviously, cause then the plot wouldn't happen, but I like to think they know they'd both bring out the worst in each other).
Henry uses him for his knowledge of the law when doing cagey shit. It's great. Like getting his job back or doing the whole weird shit mentioned above for extra money. Seeing Cliff doing his best to stay semi-professional and not visibly judge the shit out of Henry for essentially being a soft core pimp is so fucking funny. Also, his 'that's our song' speech, where he goes on about how people steal underground culture, was fun.
The funeral made me respect Cliff, as he knew how to handle the situation. Keeping the situation safe enough in public so that Henry could have his own time to break down.
When Cliff didn't push, let Henry grieve on his own time, it was beautiful. Many of us would have immediately pushed that boundary. Trying to let ourselves feel better by stopping someone else from having destructive emotions. But Cliff knows better. Hell, when Henry is crying we see Cliff tearing up. Showing that Cliff knows to just step back tells us so much about how these two men care for each other.
Now a tiny praise corner about writing an Elder Gay lawyer character-
The sheer joy in Cliff knowing he could use the 'law' to protect queer people. Both for Lance and for getting Henry his job back. If Cliff is as old as Con, he'd have been a lawyer starting in the 1990's. He would have in practice during queer legalization post-thatcher in the UK. There's a good reason he seemed to be the happiest when they got home after getting his job back. He would have been taught Section 28 as a queer man.
'The fight for sexual equality however, was far from over. Section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988, introduced by the Conservative Government under Margaret Thatcher, banned local authorities from ‘promoting homosexuality’ or ‘pretended family relationships’, and prohibited councils from funding educational materials and projects perceived to 'promote homosexuality'. The legislation prevented the discussion of LGBT issues and stopped pupils getting the support they needed. Section 28 was repealed in 2003, and Prime Minister David Cameron apologised for the legislation in 2009.'
He went from learning about all that shit as a young lawyer(who fucking survived the AIDS crisis), plus worse, to using ANTI DISCRIMINATION LAW for LGBTQ people! (kinda) So yeah. There's a very good fucking reason why that scene made me pause and stim for the fucking life of me. He was the happiest one when they came home, belting and smiling! So much has changed over his life and AHHH-
(This just hurts knowing this defence is all still legal where I live. And rights are being stripped every day... But hope still exists...yatta yatta.)
The friendship between Cliff and Henry feel so lived in. Burrowed and nestled. Clearly, Cliff has his own sad law show going on in the background and Henry is where he can let his (glorious) hair down.
I think it's funny as shit that when Henry panics and tries to find someone in mind to keep him in the moment sometimes he accidentally imagines Cliff. In a 'I've heard way to much about my friends sex lives so I think I know what it looks like' kind of way.
I also think it's funny that in the two times we see him in time jump to the future (At the table toasting Freddy and in Bed) Cliff is still not entirely gray after 6-7 years (obviously, they didn't think/want to age him up or do makeup just for a gag). However, Icon behavior.
His outfits? I would wear most of them. He is gender and life envy. Again, I think Cliff could have been a character to show how happy some people are without relationships. We get this vibe from him with the whole 'you're not tied down' speech, and I wish that was a concept explored more on TV.
He's the least depressed lawyer character I have seen on TV. If I could be a Cliff Costello type, I would go into law.
I think a good mix of the best parts of Cliff Costello and all of Val Pearson is who I want to be as an 'elder'(again, I turn 21 in January). Confident, loyal, willing to stick up for others, funny as shit. Maybe has a more stable love life than them, and hopefully not any substance addictions, but god. They just have so much joy when you know these characters had to have lived through such shitty times for queer people.
At first, I did this just to explore Con's work. But I think this has all helped me feel some hope for the future. What people need is support and love and a place to exist.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall ratings
Cinematography: 7/10. Fun edits. Fun motifs. Loved the opening, and the sound effects to suggest certain things to the audience was fun.
Story: 6/10. Would be higher but some shit just got stuck in my craw. Again, the show just got better and better as it went and by the end I just felt satisfied. Would be an 8 ish if not for my issues mentioned above.
Characters besides Con: 7/10. Everyone plays really fun parts. Everyone is shitty in their own unique way, and for the most part, they get what they deserve. Even if they haven't really learned their lesson yet (Henry, I swear to god you are on a wire). Satisfying arcs for everyone besides Henry, but that's the point. I'm happy the Collective wheedled out into a more realistic ending where these people could go on and live happy lives and not coddle the man.
Con: 8/10. He is so much fun, and he is having so much fun. I wish he was in it longer, but in every scene, he is in, he eats it up. He goes from serious lawyer to best friend in a flash and it just makes me so happy. Cliff is up there with my favorite performances, some of his actions just kill the vibe a bit for me. Again. Any series where Con smiles is a win. Also, I love that he bodied a character who uses movement aids, and it just made me more excited to see what he'd do with Izzy for S2.
OVERALL: 6-7/10.
Not an easy recommend but could be a fun rewatch when I start losing somd hope about our community, while trying to see the real issues that exist to this day...or see more people online criticize queer people for wanting to have sex.
I would love to know your opinions about Cliff, thoughts about my thoughts, and more below! Have a Lovely day/night, everyone!
Next on the docket: Kisses in the Dark. An 8 ish hour audiobook on Spotify! Seems to be a supernatural horror Staring Con O'Neill and Rhiannon Clements(hopefully not a romance, since, with the person I googled, the age gap is 28 years. It's a bit different with voice acting...but now that I know? eh). I will be listening to that on Saturday (the 17th), and will have my thoughts on that here soon. I've been warned it was recorded during the pandemic at homes. So if you want to join in, prepare yourself for that.
As always, some of you lovelies who suggested/commented on my last few posts! Thank you so much!

Now that I'm looking closer for it, I can definitely see how characters are "reset" at the beginning of a new volume or character arc, as well as being placed in certain situations for laughs without thinking about the repercussions that it can have on the character.
I don't really know how to explain it, but just-- take the newest updates with Sly in them. They contain a scene of Sly falling in a lake, and Eve and Normal laughing at it and mocking fen for it. And yet, in the arc directly previous to this one, it was established that Sly hates being wet. That Sly hates being "cold and wet and covered in water". Eve even congratulates fen after it's done (though only after some mockery of course). And yet, in the newest arc, Sly getting completely soaked is just played off as another funny joke, since Sly is apparently a "sopping wet beast" (according to Kneeby's tags).
Something treated completely seriously and dramatic in the arc prior, prompting many to attempt to comfort Sly, is just as easily used as a joke to make Sly look pathetic. Intended to make the audience laugh because, yes, Sly is indeed pathetic. The image of Sly sitting sadly on the bathroom floor is swapped for one of her looking slightly annoyed on the bench. And of course, Eve laughs at fen, despite apparently knowing how hard that should be for Sly.
I just-- I don't get it??? I know Kittycorn wanted that dysphoria scene and all, but then why include the detail of Sly hating being wet at all if you're just going to use that for a joke in the next arc? I get that Sly has favorite Cometkid syndrome and that kit wants to place fen in all sorts of situations that make her look pathetic and like a, ahem, "sopping wet beast", but isn't that hypocritical? Why is kit allowed to make jokes at the expense of her characters when the audience is not allowed to do the same thing? Why is it treated as such a crime if someone does something or draws fanart that "the character would hate", but when kit does it it's just another funny joke?
I don't even know if this makes sense I'm sorry for the literal essay in your inbox.
Uhhh I'm probably gonna frequent this blog so just call me "Faerie Anon" I guess.
ill comment on this once ive read cometcare. expect me to reblog this

My jumbled thoughts about the Barbie movie:
Things I Liked
The set design was really cool. Everything in barbie looked so plastic and fake; it reminded me of the old Barbie dream house in my room
The way the barbies and kens would float around like someone was playing with them was a nice touch. You can also see background barbies and kens standing still like dolls during scenes which was neat
I thought the acting was good overall. I’ll admit I was a Ryan gosling naysayer at first but he really played his part well!
Things I Didn’t Like/ Things That Made Me Go 🤨
The humor didn’t hit for me at all, which wasn’t surprising bc the jokes in the trailer weren’t funny to me at all. I especially didn’t like the cellulite joke, but I’ll get into that later…
The soundtrack
After the first act, the plot of the movie felt all over the place. There were multiple plot points going on and I feel like the movie didn’t know how to juggle them all. Barbie wants to be a normal doll again, ken wants to be seen, then there’s the strained mother-daughter relationship plot, a feminism plot, proving Barbie dolls are empowering, Mattel being sort of evil AND barbie learning to become human 😭. Like there was WAY too much going on imo and it made the movie feel very cluttered
It feels like they forgot about the Mattel businessmen after they went to Barbie land bc they’re barely mentioned afterwards
The movie states that Barbie dolls are empowering for young girls (which is true for some), but it’s very dismissive of criticisms towards Barbie and Mattel as a whole. The Sasha character brought up some good points about Barbie not being inclusive to certain ppl and making some girls feel bad about their bodies. She also talks about how Barbie hides behind an empowering image but is still ultimately a tool for Mattel’s capitalist greed. The movie disregards Sasha’s valid criticisms by making her call Barbie a FASCIST!!! Idk it seemed like they wanted the audience to see her as a stereotypical raging liberal bc that fascist comment was unneeded. Also, the movie doesn’t bother challenging or responding to her criticism.
They fall right into Sasha’s criticism when Barbie becomes upset about having cellulite. Ik that was a joke but doesn’t that just reinforce that there’s little body diversity in Barbie to the point where they’re not not used to having any form of fat. It was also a weird joke to make when there’s only one fat barbie in the movie
The feminist message felt like it was all over the place to the point where it was difficult to understand what they were trying to get across. Like Ik at base level all of gerwig’s films have an ‘I love being a woman’ ending but idk…Like if the barbies are so empowered and women centered why did they fall for the kens’ patriarchy so quickly. I’m expected to believe these are a strong and smart group of women but they were swayed by the Kens in like a few hours 😭.
The Barbies forgave the kens too quickly imo. Those men stole their homes, oppressed them and treated them like objects and were forgiven so easily. Like yea we can feel sympathy for the kens since they feel like accessories but we’re expected to overlook the way they oppressed the barbies??? This muddles the feminist message imo
They ignore the intersectional aspects of being a woman like race, sexuality, disability etc but that was to be expected tbh. It makes me wonder what’s it’s like to be a minority in Barbie land like do they just ignore race or??? The movie goes out of its way to overlook those aspects in favor of preaching about a very broad form of feminism

@heartofhubris
ok but have you considered this tho: [-enables your simping-]
On top of having self confidence issues he probably also has body image issues? This man who acts like he is the hottest thing since the Baja Blast or whatever, being rendered a bumbling bashful mess of nerves if you genuinely complimented a feature of his he is self conscious about?
Imagine if you will.. Him being too afraid to remove his helmet to show what he looks like, afraid his “below” average appearance would turn you away, but you kind of already know what he looks like, you’d pieced it together, seen him at one of his civilian day jobs a time or two. Imagine his reactions to you reassuring him and getting him to take the helmet off-- or asking permission to remove it yourself-- how he’d react to you not thinking his looks are dumb or disappointing, that you genuinely find him quite cute or charming.
Anyways this dude is the BIGGEST dork and I mean that lovingly. He’d totally react in 2 different ways when nervous: 1) negative nervousness in feeling antsy but also shying away and wanting to get away from whatever is causing him distress, 2) positive nervousness where he’d forget to be quieter and to calm down and relax, he’d be super animated, unable to really handle his emotions and thoughts he’d be having in that moment.
You call him pretty mid fight and he breaks character in surprise “You think I’m pretty??“ before remembering he is fighting you and clears his throat to revert back to his Mysterio persona. He will remember that comment. You think he’s funny? He’s gonna be thinking about that for a long time and get conscious about every funny comment he makes, he’d wanna make you laugh and give you a good time.. even when you’re battling him as Mysterio. He’s a performer at heart, so giving a good time to his audience is top priority, regardless of whatever villainous act he may be committing.

I was gonna add this to my last reblog but the images were messing up so I guess it's gonna be its own post now. Anyway, did you know that some people have actually gone to the trouble of creating complex algorithms to map the relatedness of subreddits??? I won't pretend to know the exact science behind it, but it's pretty interesting. Basically how it works: the algorithm looks through a sample of user comments across Reddit in order to determine which subreddits have significant user overlap. Subreddits are also sorted into clusters based on relatedness. The more shared users across subreddits, the closer their dots are. You can also look up a subreddit's individual maps independent of clusters.
So for fun, let's take a look at r/Edelgard! First off, this is what the website spits out initially if you just type in the name of the sub:
Tumblr media
Its major connections are other FE3H waifu subreddits and FE porn subreddits. The size of the dots are proportional to how big the sub is in terms of subscribers, by the way.
Neat, right? Let's zoom out a bit and see the kinds of subs included in the same cluster!
Tumblr media
It's basically all video game and anime porn sites. Why is that you might be asking? Well...
Tumblr media
Apparently the algorithm decided to cluster r/Edelgard in with a porn cluster lmfao. I don't know if cluster proximity to other clusters has any particular rhyme or reason to it, so just ignore that for now.
For the subreddit specific connections, here's just a snapshot of r/Edelgard's personal map:
Tumblr media
It can be a bit hard to read so I tried to mark off major points of interest here. But basically, it's more connected to the horny FE subreddit than it is to the main sub for the series from which Edelgard hails. It's about equidistant from the 3H sub and the horny sub. Which is kind of funny considering people tend to comment on horny subs less than they do SFW subs. Remember, this isn't the number of users who use both, it's the number of users who comment in both.
Anyway I skimmed the rest of the sub-specific cluster and it's entirely video game related subs (FE or other), waifu specific subreddits, or hentai subs. There might have been, like, a cat pics sub in there somewhere.
Now, take this next thing with the disclaimer that, again, this analysis was done based on a sample of Reddit comments and therefore will probably not catch every connection, but I find it interesting that none of these connections were to any LGBTQ or women-specific subreddits (e.g. no connections to r/LGBT, r/ainbow, r/GirlGamers, etc.) At least not that I saw, I did my best to look at all of the dots but I'm only human. Obviously there could be a lot of reasons for that. I personally don't comment on a lot of LGBTQ+ subs on Reddit for safety reasons. But I do find it curious that we didn't even get, like, a wayward shot toward one of those categories considering how frequently Edelgard stans love to claim that her audience is "primarily queer women".
Anyway here's the link to the website if anyone is curious about a specific sub.
And for the record, I did attempt to look up the Dimitri specific sub to do a similar comparison, but it is not even on the map. This is pretty unsurprising considering it was never that popular to begin with (less than 1,000 subscribed users currently and there's a new post maybe once every couple of months with very few comments, so not much for the algorithm to pick up on).

You are funny making posts about Harry when you have no knowledge of him or his fans outside of your larry bubble. Saying ” If your target audience is tired of you, embarrased on your behalf or not really buying what you are selling (stunt or brand deals) at some point you should take a break or change strategy.” is funny because its so not true. Is it true when it comes to you and your larrie friends? Sure! But did it ever hit you that he wants you gone? That he doesnt care If you buy what he is selling? Did it ever hit you that they are not together and you as a larrie fan isnt his target? That the focus for him isnt the group that made his life a hell last year and the group of fans that always end up threathing to stop being a fan as soon as he does something larries have not aoproved? That he may have goals or thing he needs to do without having to think about you? Go to hsd and read the quotes on the latest picture of him and Taylor and not a single harrie being embarrased, tried etc. Do you have any idea about the things people are saying on instagram? All positive comments on harryflorals from harries. You have no pulse on his fandom
Hi, anon!
I do have a pulse on this fandom. I've talked about it many times before. Larries are in the minority in the harry fandom. I'm also well aware that a lot of people fawn over harry and hussell. But you do understand that the fans fawning over it, are also fans who will fawn over everything he does, regardless? They are sheep, often young, who like him for superficial reasons. The minute he dumps her and finds a new stunt, they'll forget about her. The minute he's not in the media, stop making pop songs or loses his looks, they'll run. Harry wouldn't have as many het fans if there was more competition. That competition will come.
If, if being the operative word here, he continues down this road, people are going to grow tired and find new shiny things to be fans of. I've seen the fandom being pretty united in their boredom over the citrus fruit bike promo regardless if you are het or a larrie. I also can't imagine you hets being thrilled about him hanging out with JC? You didn’t exactly love O either? Or Harry being ridiculed across fandoms after Venice?
Hshq and harry don't want us larries gone. Pleasing's larriebaiting begs to differ lol. They want our money and sees us as a significant target group. They cater to us as well as you hets. We larries provide free promo and free engagement. H's biggest twitter update account is a larrie one. Even though you hets outnumber us, when it comes to influence and power, we larries have you beat. Since we also think he's gay and with Louis, we believe he's appreciating having a group out there who sees him for who he is.
And my last point. Your relationship with harry shouldn't be unconditional. He's a celebrity who's going to turn out to be someone different than you thought he was. Celebrities create an image of themselves to make themselves palatable to the gp. If he does something you don’t approve of you should call him out on it. Don't blindly idolize him. You have to set boundaries for yourself. Stick to your own morals and principles, don't ignore them because it's Harry who's breaking them.

I'M STILL ALIVE, I bet you thought you were free from my annoyance for just a split second, didn't you? Kiyahahaha! Ahem... So I'm saving Kazui and Amane for last because you've already talked about them. and the only two people that are in front of them is Es and Jackalope ! Triple A battery (Aro/Ace/Agender) and a Minecraft Rabbit. Intriguing
Hey! Was wondering when you would send this in. It’s gonna be real awkward when we’re done here and I actually have to come up with things to post by myself lol. Unless people keep sending me questions about specific theories like with the Shidou Incident :v /lh
CW: Mentions of death and cults.
Starting with Jackalope because- does it even count as a character? It’s more of a plot device than anything. I’m pretty sure I could point to several background characters with more interesting things going on (Rei, Hinako, all the people in Bring it On who I will make a post about one day mark my words).
That’s hyperbole, of course. Jackalope is cool enough, it does what it needs to do, and while I haven’t read all the minigrams yet, it seems like a funny dude in those. It serves well enough as the somewhat-charismatic mascot that guides the audience surrogate (Es) through the insanity of the plot. I… could however do without the weird comments about some of the girls being pretty or whatever. Why are these kind of mascots always oddly horny?
Anyways, I really don’t know what else to say. I think it’s neat only Es hears it talk, that’s just funny. And the fact it cooks all the meals is just a very nice image.
Also if it’s a Minecraft rabbit does that mean I can take its feet and make a jump boost potion? How does this fit into the lore I wonder.
Whatever, who cares about that thing? We gotta talk about the teen, the myth, the legend! No interest in romance (that we know of), vaguely uncomfortable at the mere mention of sex, and uses they/them pronouns! Wow, Es is just like me fr! There is a reason I have them as my pfp, you know.
I love Es. As a concept, it’s already hilarious that the Warden of the Hell Prison is a fifteen year old amnesiac, but the fact they take it so seriously is incredible. Not just because of the very cool philosophical implications of their very peculiar worldview, but also because it’s just objectively funny. They woke up, no idea what’s going on or how they got there, immediately decided they would devote themselves wholeheartedly to the task set out by a rabbit with horns who only they can hear talk. And then sang a banger to kick the series off, Undercover goes hard.
Speaking of songs, I’ve always wondered if we’re ever gonna get another non-cover Es song. I think they deserve it, as a treat. It’d be great to get some more insight on them.
At least the covers are really good, and can be kinda funny at times. I haven’t listened to all of them, but Es’ somewhat emotionless delivery is sometimes really funny. Like, Fuuta will be over there shouting his heart out, then cut to Es like “you’re the crazy one. bang bang bang.” God I love them.
But the main part of Es’ character are all the VDs, where we get to see them really talk a bunch. And wow this kid is so silly! (Read: they’re immensely fucked up). I really want to know more about them.
Their views on morals and justice are especially interesting to me. They have such a blind faith in Milgram and in their own judgement, it’s impressive. It’s especially funny seeing them try to piece together some kind of cohesive logic as to why they voted people Innocent or Guilty out of our dumbassery.
And of course, this pride in their position and their occupation is great for foiling with several of the characters around. I want to see what they do in the Kotoko VD this Trial, I need them to go off on her ass it’s gonna be great. Fuuta’s second VD also was great for them, such an interesting dynamic. Especially because through Es, Milgram can essentially speak directly to us and confront us in our judgements. I think it’s fantastic.
And then Amane. The parallels man. The unwavering faith in a collective of really fucked up people (Amane’s cult or Milgram fandom which is worse?) guiding their actions, the way Amane sees Milgram as a potentially ideal world the same way Es has full faith in it already, the obsession with punishing wrongs, the fact they’re children!
Listen, I don’t think I need to copy paste the Puerto Rico line. You know what it is, I know what it is. It’s the most out of pocket, crazy comeback I’ve ever seen in my life. The fact it’s 100% a total lie just makes it even funnier, like Es really just said that for no reason huh? The sibling dynamic with these two is strong, I love them so much. 00-03-08 found family where the fics at?
Also speaking of Amane, you know that theory that she may have DID? I think it’d be very funny if next trial a different alter rolls up and stabs Es knowing only one of the alters is affected by Milgram rules. This is why we have to inno Amane, so our Warden doesn’t die before the end of Trial 3 you see? I’m spinning the Es post into inno Amane propaganda, how about that?
Anyways, enough Amane. So you know how Es’ amnesia is basically the biggest part of their character after their devotion to Milgram? That’s why I love when we get small indications of how Es is actually like beyond that.
Es: [Talking about Kazui potentially cheating on his wife] It’s a personal dislike of mine. People who act based on their sexual urges like that, that is. Kazui: It’s personal? E: Yeah. That’s right. K: That’s strange. I did think that, despite being neutral as a Warden, you had some things you dislike, but… E: … K: Isn’t it unusual to openly reveal a personal dislike as a personal dislike?
See? They have a personal dislike! They have individual thoughts! What’s the deal with that?! Tell me more Es please I wanna know what your deal is! Why do you hate that kind of thing I am begging hands and knees I gotta know! Unless there is no reason which is also perfectly understandable.
Es: Then…what were you aiming for with…that is…your compensated, dating…. Yuno: Why are you stammering? *Gasp* You're so pure!
Es will talk about shit like murder and organ harvesting without a stutter then get squeamish about dating and sex. Oh they just like me fr fr.
Jackalope: [tongue click and raises head] Es: Would you like me to pet you? J: NO! Open the damn door! You can tell just by looking, can’t you?! E: Ah. [footsteps] I have a question. Even though you can’t open a door by yourself, why do you act like such a hotshot?
I forgot about this line from the Es VD but it’s honestly so fucking funny. Es woke up and was already a snarky bastard, God I love them.
The point is that Es isn’t just an audience stand-in blank slate, not fully. And I love them for that. Especially when sometimes their views very evidently contradict the fandom’s majority.
Es will be like “oh Shidou you are the type of person I hate the most. Anyways let me hit that Innocent button, how about that, how does that make you feel bitch?” And of course there’s the inherent silliness of things like “sure Muu committed violent and near-remorseless murder, but Fuuta has a Twitter. I think the Guilty one here is obvious.” Why does Es even trust us anymore?
I have a lot of thoughts about the Legal Adult in Puerto Rico According to Themselves and Themselves Only, but I kinda don’t wanna go look at every single VD ever released at the moment. Might make a more detailed analysis… some day. Don’t hold your breath though.
Final note is the eleventh cell thing from their VD.
Es: What about over there? At eleven o’clock. In that room… Is there no prisoner? Its door is even older than the others—rusty. There’s no lock on the outside as well.
While I don’t know what the deal with it being older would be, currently what I’m predicting is that someone could eventually die because of Es’ (our) judgement, presumably after their song releases in Trial 3, and then Es would be considered a murderer by Milgram rules. Thus, they would need a cell, and they end up getting judged themselves. I think it’d be very fun, though obviously I’d prefer no one dies. I’m not sure there’s any way to prevent that, though, even if Shidou goes unharmed this Trial I feel there’s enough conflict that someone will eventually die. I’m getting off track.
Anyways, hope that was enough for now! Take care!

The trouble began, as it usually does, when I saw something funny on my computer. It was the middle of the morning on a Wednesday, a few years back, and I came across news that Le Creuset, the French cookware brand, had made a line of “Star Wars”-themed pots and pans. There was a roaster made to look like Han Solo frozen in carbonite ($450) and a Dutch oven with Tatooine’s twin suns on it (“Our Dutch oven promises an end result that’s anything but dry — unlike the sun-scorched lands of Tatooine”; $900). A set of mini cocottes had been decorated to resemble the lovable droid characters C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8.
I was also looking at Twitter that day, something that I can say for sure not only because of what happened next, but also because I look at Twitter just about every day. (This is not terribly unusual in my profession — I am an editor at The New York Times Magazine — but I think it should be stated clearly upfront that I have something of an acute problem with it.) I took a screenshot of the cocottes and uploaded it to the site. I wrote, as an accompanying caption, “The Star Wars/Le Creuset pots imply the existence of a Type of Guy I find genuinely unimaginable...” — just like that, ellipsis and all. I hit send. I guess I went back to work after that. My email records show that I sent a big edit memo to a writer. Then, around lunchtime, things started happening.
If you don’t use Twitter — which is perfectly normal; about three-quarters of Americans don’t — you should know that the platform has a function called quote-tweeting, which was introduced in 2015. It allows users to show a tweet they’ve encountered to their own followers, while adding their own text or image to comment on it. You often see people use this function to respond to some contrived prompt that crosses their feed (“What’s a great song that features an impressive horn section?”). Less often, though often enough that the practice has its own name, quote-tweets are used to roast and clown on people — to trot them out in front of a new audience, drop their pants and spank them. This is referred to as “dunking.” (x)

I couldn't read the whole article because it's not free. But I find it funny how the title says "reinvented the playboy" while the sub headlines says he's "championing respectful relationships". Like you can't call someone a fuckboy and says he's a champion at RESPECTFUL relationships the very next thing. The oxymoron used is weak af
Here you go.

How Harry Styles reinvented the playboy
No mud-slinging exes or disgruntled girlfriends here — the heartthrob singer is championing respectful relationships
Like every former boybander in search of a solo career, Harry Styles had to create a new identity when One Direction split in 2016. But he didn’t just reinvent himself for the post-1D era. Styles, 29, has also been credited with reinventing manhood for a modern-day audience.
“Harry Styles is rewriting the rules of masculinity on his terms,” raved the women’s magazine Grazia in 2021. The New York Times heralded Styles last year for his “liberated” take on gender. That liberated take, though, hasn’t precluded him from reportedly having lots (and lots) of girlfriends.
According to reports this week, the model and actress Emily Ratajkowski is the latest in a string of famous and gorgeous women with whom Styles has been linked. There was the late Caroline Flack, who was presenting The Xtra Factor, the sister show of The X Factor, when Styles was a contestant in 2010 (she was 32 and he was 17). After that he went out with the comedian Emily Atack for a short time.
Styles’ last public relationship was with the actress and director Olivia Wilde, who he met when he worked on the film Don’t Worry Darling.
He also dated Kendall Jenner. His relationship with Taylor Swift was brief, but creatively fertile: her album 1989 is rumoured to be shaped by their romance. There was a scattering of Victoria’s Secret models in between. Most recently, he was involved with the director Olivia Wilde (who cast him in the film Don’t Worry Darling) in the middle of a messy break-up with the father of her two children, the actor Jason Sudeikis.
There’s something quite retro about Styles’s romantic history, matching the dreamy Seventies influence in his music. His capacity for hooking up with the most impressive beauties of his era recalls the great shaggers of the 20th century — men like Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty and David Bowie, all of whom seemed to have had a cheerful kid-in-a-candy store attitude to sexual possibilities afforded by celebrity.
But serial dating can look tawdry rather than glamorous in the 21st century. Think of the general shudder greeting the actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s endless procession of young girlfriends, none of whom seem to last beyond their 25th birthday.
So how does Styles do it? He has always rejected the playboy label, and his version of maturity is different from the laddish one espoused by previous teen idols turned adult stars. See Robbie Williams, obliterating his Take That pinup status in 1995 by partying with Oasis at Glastonbury. Or Justin Timberlake, making vulgar comments about his ex Britney Spears in 2002 to kill off his nice-guy ’N Sync image.
Styles is known for his flamboyant looks and defying masculine conventions.
No such boorishness for Styles. He is, instead, the gold standard of modern sensitivity. He wore a dress on the cover of Vogue, and a sheer blouse and pearl earring to the Met Gala in New York. In the film My Policeman, he played one half of a tender gay romance, and he’s lent his support to causes including Black Lives Matter and LGBT rights. At one concert, he supported a fan in coming out to her mother, leading the whole audience in a chant of: “Tina, she’s gay.”
This image has helped to make him staggeringly successful: his 2022 album Harry’s House broke streaming records, won best album at the Brits and the Grammys and spawned a 15-night residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Coupled with his delicate handsomeness, this may explain the queue of girlfriends.
Like his ex Swift, Styles has pointed out that he doesn’t actually date more than the average person his age — he just attracts more attention when he does. In the case of Ratajkowski, one photograph of the two kissing in the street in Tokyo has been worldwide news for days.
Styles also dated Kendall Jenner. He likes to remain on good terms with his exes.
In response, Styles maintains the gentlemanly habit of rarely discussing his love life. It’s not far off the old music industry wisdom that heartthrobs should avoid relationships to keep themselves notionally available to their fans. But it also protects him. Having been famous since he was 16, Styles has had to learn to draw a line between his public and private selves to survive. And it protects the woman he’s with from jealous fans, who perceive any girlfriend as a rival to be attacked. A corner of his fandom can be “crazy” and “mean”, he has said.
Styles’s respect for his partners is in line with contemporary manners. Timberlake initially gained credibility for trashing Spears but by 2021, at the peak of #FreeBritney outrage, upset fans pushed him into a grovelling apology nearly 20 years on. Chivalry is back in fashion.
Styles also gets points for his apparent fearlessness around women who are impressive on their own terms. While the age gap with Flack raised eyebrows at the time, he’s subsequently been linked to multiple older, accomplished women.
Unlike a lot of famous men, he seems happy to be with an equal — or even, in the case of Swift, her muse. He also keeps things amicable post-break-up and has made friendly appearances with Swift and Jenner.
Beatty is also known for keeping his exes close. “What happens is fame gives you access, so you’re lucky enough to be exposed to these very admirable women,” the actor said in 2016. “Not just physically beautiful, but great people and talented and intelligent people.”
Harry Styles hasn’t reinvented masculinity but maybe he’s rediscovered the trick that separates a great lover from a playboy: he actually seems to like women, as well as wanting to sleep with them.
