seeing a lot of talk of the season 5 finale, which is fun, i get that it was controversial (honestly the fact it was really risky is kind of one of the things i like about it lol) and wanting to add my two cents but can't think of much i haven't already said before
but something i do want to emphasize is that season 5 ending on Marinette telling the biggest, boldest faced lie she's ever told (that goes far beyond "protecting her identity") to kick off the Lila arc is by far the coolest thing they could've done imo, because I was not at all excited for the Lila arc before but now I'm totally invested. Now Lila isn't the Evil Liar to be taken down by Good Marinette. Marinette is the liar to be taken down by the very liar that she took down. It's not a story of "defeat that freakishly evil girl" anymore, but instead a story of "Marinette's own actions and decisions coming back to bite her". And the lie itself (WHICH LILA KNOWS IS A LIE!!) only exists because, and is most impactful towards, her relationship with Adrien, which is the core of the series!! I CARE about their relationship, and that's the stakes!!!
I just cannot get over how cool that is, and how much I didn't expect it. I know we all were expecting a big fight with Ladybug and Chat Noir just defeating Gabriel and then watching Chat Noir cry or whatever in the few remaining minutes of screen-time and then it's all over and done with, but that's a series finale. This was a season finale. And they did something really unique and unexpected with it, while making sure it's a juicy season-finale conflict that leaves me actually excited about season 6
also, a side note— I think the framing of the finale made this confusing so I totally get why discussions about it are kind of all over the place, but... 90% of the post-wish stuff we saw had nothing to do with Gabriel at all. It was all Mayor Bustier, who was already running for mayor and wanted to enact green laws and projected to win (she was up against D'Argencourt, the character whose schtick is that nobody ever votes for him in elections). I don't think Gabriel's wish included "Please, Gimmi, I want my son's school teacher to win the mayoral election this year" lol. So a lot of talk of "why is Gabriel's World presented in such a positive light?" is kind of weird to me. That's not Gabriel's World. That's Caline Bustier's. All we know so far about Gabriel's World is that Nathalie is in it and he is not. And frankly, the fact everyone is so happy and cheerful and living it up after his death is more a roast than anything
( also, just a reminder that the presentation of Gabriel's statue— the only scene discussing Gabriel in a positive light by someone In The Know— was done by Tomoe Tsurugi, a series antagonist, vowing to continue his work, with a song in minor key playing in the background. i feel like the question of "was this meant to be unsettling or triumphant?" is pretty obvious. just wanted to remind everyone. also by definition characters cannot celebrate gabriel as a "hero" without in the same breath celebrating monarch's, aka gabriel's, death. yknow? )

I keep seeing references to anxiety disorders being widely accepted and destigmatized (family members telling me "everyone has anxiety sometimes, so people are understanding of it," and online discussions about other conditions with phrases like "as opposed to destigmatized conditions like anxiety") and I genuinely want to know wtf everyone is talking about.
Explain why people laugh or get angry when someone stutters a lot or is so anxious they can't talk at all, especially in professional/academic environments.
Explain why people get freaked out and sometimes call security when someone is crying and shaking and can't explain themselves during a panic attack in public.
Explain why "too nervous to order food in a restaurant" and similar comments are always used as insults online.
Explain why so many teachers don't allow mental health days for anxiety or let students leave the classroom during panic attacks.
Explain why people get so uncomfortable around the topic of anxiety medication and antidepressants.
Explain why people are always weirded out by, if not outright hostile towards, people with psychiatric service dogs, communication cards, or other aids for their anxiety.
Explain why people with anxiety are laughed off and ignored when they try to advocate for their needs or set boundaries.
Explain why people are considered selfish if they're too anxious to verbally say "excuse me" or thank people for holding the door open.
Explain why people joke about hair loss even though it can often result from stress related to anxiety.
Explain why people act like it's a major burden to make a person with anxiety feel safe in an activity.
Anxiety may not be as stigmatized as other conditions, but that doesn't mean people aren't still ableist towards people with anxiety. They only accept it if it's hidden well enough that they don't have to look at it. And when they do have to look at it, all of their "acceptance" and "mental health matters <3" fly out the window.
The only reason you think anxiety is "widely accepted" is because your idea of anxiety is "someone who is mildly introverted and has a softish voice but is otherwise completely normal."
Trivialized isn't the same as accepted.

i would really like to see people appreciate beau's growth and character arc more without trying to convince newcomers that "she'll get better eventually just you wait" implying she was such an unbearable character you have to make yourself sit through her scenes. i assure you, she wasn't

thinking about how dean’s character gets simplified in fandom, or more specifically, the very black and white lens that gets applied to him. because integral to dean, from my point of view, is that he is both a victim of abuse and a perpetrator of it. that these two things do not cancel each other out or outweigh each other to the point that only one matters. he’s both, you cannot separate him from the fact that he’s both.
but very often, people do. dean is either a victim. or he’s an abuser. it’s like it’s hard for people to hold both those facts in their heads at once. dean went through incredible amount of trauma as a child and an adult, is routinely faced with violence, has resorted to alcohol abuse to cope with it. he’s also a violent person, someone who retreats into tactics of emotional abuse and control when he feels threatened, who hurts the people around him constantly and the people who are closest to him (ie Sam, Cas, later Jack) get the brunt of that abuse. these are just facts. they’re things that happened on the screen and cannot be denied.
and it’s. idk it’s weird to me (not unexpected, because he’s hardly the only character to ever get this treatment) that dean of all people is the one portrayed in such an either/or way when one of the defining moments of the show for him is that during his stint in Hell, he was tortured and then became a torturer to escape that, to feel like he had some control again, and he relished in it. it’s baked into who he is.

Honestly I think breaking up with Bakugou is practically impossible, he just won’t let you.
You’re fighting because he doesn’t want to meet your friends after a whole ass year of dating. He’s saying shit like ‘I don’t need to meet them to know I won’t stand them’ and you’re mad cause these are your friends he’s talking about. You already met his and got along pretty well, so it fills you with rage to know he won’t even try to get to know yours.
Secretly he’s scared they won’t like him, maybe they’ll be able to tell he wasn’t always a nice guy and eventually will convince you to leave him. He’s still not good at dealing with his feelings so he can’t tell you the truth without sounding pathetic. Bakugou keeps giving you the same lame ass excuse until one day you have enough.
“I just don’t get it! I’m only asking you to come hang out with us, talk a bit, if you get bored you can leave! All I want is for you to at least try!” Your voice is loud and he’s growing anxious.
“Well I’m sorry but I’m not that nice! You’ll have to date someone who’s more of a social butterfly sweetheart” He knows he’s wrong, he knows he’d throw up if he ever saw you with some other guy, but he’s also emotionally constipated.
“Yeah maybe I will!” You scream back and Bakugou raises an eyebrow at you, challenging.
“Sure you will” He says as you stomp off.
The next time you see each other he greets you with a peck, it takes you a moment to remember you were mad at him but eventually the anger comes back.
“Hey! Don’t do that, we’ve broken up!” You try to put your mean face on, not letting him fool you with his charms.
But all he does instead is scoff and let out a devilish laugh. Of course he’s not charming.
“I’m serious, I don’t want to see you anymore!” He hums in false agreement, mocking you. “Don’t do that, Bakugou.” It’s the lack of use of his first name that throws him off, erasing the smug grin on his lips.
You keep talking your shit, insulting him and calling him insensitive. All while your ex boyfriend wraps his arms around your middle and brings you in to rest his head on top of yours.
“Bakugou I’m being fucking serious! Stop!” But you’re not pulling away and he’s not applying any force.
“Shut up, you’re too cute to be mad at me.”

Went to let the birds out and found this furious little (baby) lad in one of the trenches, exhausted from trying to get out of the coop he so bravely wiggled his way into. I fetched him out and let him go outside the pen. Hopefully he won't be trying that again.

None of Us Were Angels
Landoscar, T, 63k, complete
Lando finds himself down a driver on the night of a very important mission. He just so happens to catch a ride from a very impressive Uber driver.
In which Oscar agrees to be Lando's getaway vehicle, and ends up getting involved in way more than he bargained for.
Lando is having a shit day. Months of preparation, of long nights and making connections, working the angles and getting closer inch by long, arduous inch to this goal, and Danny has to go and get in a car accident. Danny’s fine, which is somehow more obnoxious, but he can’t drive with his arm in a sling, and Lando needs a driver for this to work. It has to be tonight.

@deadbranch's 100-Word Fic Challenge
another one because I've realized these little challenges are great for getting myself in the mood to write
When a prank idea strikes, MacTavish is usually game. Today, however, even your puppy eyes and sheepish smile don't convince Soap immediately.
"Pink isn’t his color."
Your words drip with sarcasm, as you scoff, rolling your eyes, "He'll love it."
Soap’s protests only cease after you drag him to the laundry room.
You spend hours dyeing all of Ghost's skull masks and gloves pink. But the prank backfires when Riley shows up for the next mission sporting the pink set, handing you and MacTavish matching masks.
Price isn't happy.
Especially when Gaz questions his lack of a matching pink mask.

don't get me wrong callum is undeniably a prince and it plays into his family dynamics and his initial sense of unworthiness when the story starts a lot, but i'll never fully understand the hang up that it's a Big part of his ongoing story when his own brother, the king, says "remember who you are" and just refers and reiterates his mage identity (4x06), and that's the only one that callum seems to significantly care about either (5x07)

What are some ideas you have floating around that you don't have any plans on writing but like to entertain as a thought?
Many of them, in fact! Though they sort of vanish from my memory if I don't make a record of them, here's a few ones I jotted down when they came to mind.
For a domestic one: Bill thought he'd hate a lot of being married! Even though he loves Dipper, he thought he'd rebel against the chains of domesticity - and in some ways he still does - but one major benefit he's found is not having to be 'on' all the time.
No need to be perfectly performing all the time! No shoving around for social influence, no intimidation, or clever tricks. No commanding attention or taking up the room. Hell, there's surprisingly little upkeep! Bill can undo his tie and pick his nose and bitch about his day to someone who isn't bending over backwards to agree with him on everything. Someone who doesn't give him a weird look and sneer if he, god forbid, actually wants to sit down, read a book, drop the grin for an hour or two.
The concept in question is Bill's very first moment of great surprise. That when he isn't being the most charming, terrifying, and exciting guy in the universe, and just chilling out for like, five minutes, Dipper comes over and snuggles up to him on the couch, or wraps his arms around his shoulders and kisses the top of his head. And when Bill asks 'what was that for?', Dipper shrugs and goes 'eh, just felt like it'. It's both baffling and extremely compelling.
A short where Reincarnated Dip is Definitely Sure he's Not Gay!!! Especially not for this Hot Demon Man who is getting so close and touchy with him with his big smile and horrible wiles. Yep. Just keeping an eye on him to make sure he's not up to something Nefarious ™.
A discussion between Dipper and Bill where Dipper insists that Bill should understand this, or not do that, because, like. Y'know, Bill's a guy! There are guy things! Making Bill stare at Dipper like he's an idiot. He proceeds to informs Dipper how that's stupid for multiple reasons! First, that Bill's Not Human to begin with, his gender can't be put into a little box! And frankly, he never filled out the paperwork for his original one, come to think of it. Sure, he/him's fine, but c'mon, sapling, thinking of the whole shebang like a binary is dumb as hell. Now Dipper has to do some mental readjustment re: his own issues with masculinity/gender.
