hi! last year i'm not really updating on the fandom and i can't seem to find this on your blog. what's with the louis and harry and italy? they seem to be spotted there a lot and i think harry also have a house there or smth? is there something special about italy? sorry if you already explained it before.
Hi, dear. Yeah, it seems like they love Italy and don't like to waste any opportunities to be there together. I think this may have started in May 2019 when Harry went to Rome for Gucci and on the same day Louis showed up with Eleanor in Portofino for a pap walk and literally no other reason to be there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was so out of nowhere and such a big coincidence that even tabloids picked up and made crazy rumours about a 1D reunion. Pretty sure there is also a receipt from this time.
Harry went to Italy a lot of times, even during the pandemic, he they definitely has a house there. In June 2021 , when Harry finished shooting My Policeman in Venice (IIRC their last scenes were there) he stayed a few more weeks, precisely when Louis was MIA, which lead people to believe Louis also joined him and they spent a little time there together. Louis, of course, showed up with a beautiful tan and an Italian hat a few days later:

In September 2022, Harry went to Venice for the premiere of DWD the very same week Louis was there doing promo for the release of FITF. They were both incredibly busy at the time, so desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess. All the blue and green is just a plus. The following week they were both also in NYC (twice in the same week, yes), they had shows on the same night. So they obviously planned things around this and went from Italy to NYC together. The timeline is great
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, Harry will be done with LOT 2023 in July, in Italy. Louis will bring AFHF to Italy just a few weeks after that and he's not back on tour within a couple more weeks. Since they're both on tour they're probably going to spend a while away from each other and already planned their little annual Italian vacation. So I will not be surprised if one of them is completely MIA during this time while the other is in Italy.

Seven-Spotted Ladybug - Coccinella septempunctata
Let’s give these little spotted gems some love and appreciation. I’ve been a little busy with their smaller and more unknown relatives, but now it’s their turn for the spotlight. There’s been quite a few Seven-Spotted Ladybugs throughout the years, so I’ve found them on many a plant. Large-sized as far as Ladybugs go, they’re easy to spot walking on plants or flying through the air. Don’t swoop down on them if you plan to pick them up; you can coax them onto your hand if you place your fingers nearby or if they land on your clothing. Similar to the Asian Ladybug (or Ladybugs in general for the matter), if frightened or agitated they will emit their smelly and noxious-tasting hemolymph defense to try and escape. Also like Asian Ladybugs, looks like that Seven-Spotted Ladybugs appear red or orange! Keep your palm open and don’t let them feel trapped and the worst they’ll do is draw their legs under their shell to protect them. In my experience they’ll roam on your hand for sometime before eventually flying away or suddenly dropping into the grass below. It’s just what they do to escape the occasional spell of danger since they’re used to feasting on soft-bodied insects with little difficulty...unless Ants are on patrol of course.
I’ve mentioned in posts with other insects that Ants like to tend to honeydew producing insects, offering protection in exchange for that delicious liquid. Now, if honeydew is so tantalizing, couldn’t Ladybug larvae or adults just eat the honeydew? To answer, kind of. The larvae need protein and carbohydrates to grow and molt to their adult forms. so soft-bodied insects are the priority (unless it’s Ladybug that only eats plants such as those of the Epilachna genus). Plus, they get honeydew when they eat the insects anyway. It’s a win-win! Since the adult Beetles can unfold their wings and fly around, they can be more open to other food sources such as honeydew, fruits, pollen and even fungi, depending on the specie. Soft-bodied insects are still best, but there are nutrients from the aforementioned sources that are also beneficial to a Ladybug’s overall health. Looking into it further, nutritional content of soft-bodied insects may vary due to which plant(s) they feed on. These extra food sources have also shown to be especially valued when prey items become more scarce. If only I’d thought to pay closer attention to the individual photographed in September. These diligent creatures need to do everything they can to stay healthy if it means surviving an overwinter or migrating.

Black Dancer Caddisfly - Mystacides sepulchralis
The year 2021 was a great year for finding and observing Caddisflies in their natural environment: on the vegetation by nearby streams. Since they’ve pupated, grown their tent-shaped wings and left the flowing water, they aren’t likely to return for a swim anytime soon, and yet they always seem to want to stay nearby. The only time they may actively revisit the water (up close) is to lay eggs. I’m not quite sure what this specie does since there’s not very much information to draw from, but the consensus seems to be that most species don’t lay eggs directly in water. Instead, they are laid in large number on nearby aquatic plants, sometimes coated in a viscous clump of gel. I’ll be looking around the water’s edge this summer for specks or jelly if I find any adults in the area. While I’ve implied that most lay eggs of vegetation, there are reports of some brave Caddisflies diving in to place their eggs! It would save a bit of time and may even be safer for the young larvae, as the ones on the leaves have a bit of exposure to predators and risk of desiccation until they drop into the stream to begin their lives. Gotta gather those stones!
While I’m not sure at all on the egg-laying habits (or dietary habits for that matter) for this specie, I can certainly be sure on the identity of this particular Trichopteran. The Black Dancer Caddisfly has elongated mouthparts (which resemble thick antennae or claws)and a thin, long, whip-like antennae with a ringed pattern along the first few segments. No camera flash was using to grab these pictures, so those red eyes aren’t a consequence of camera light. The eyes can be another trick to help identify these elusive creatures. I’ve read that only the males have bright red eyes, but I couldn’t say for certain. I’d need to do more research, and they only other way to tell for sure would be to examine a specimen with a dissection microscope (which I don’t have). If you do come across an insect that looks like this, monitor it closely, and if you do, document what plants or flowers it prefers to visit. Flowers in particular would be helpful to learn if it actually has a liquid diet or doesn’t feed. With luck, it would be some nearby flowers close to the stream. Depending on the flowers they prefer, those palps might be useful grasp on other structures while feeding or to pull flowers closer to its mouth since Trichopterans lack a proboscis. More info would go a long way here. If a revision to the Audubon Insect Guide comes out, this specie would be a great inclusion for the field guide. Especially since there aren’t many Trichopterans in the guide as is. They’ve been compiled together with similar looking insects (though different orders) such as Lacewings, Alderflies and Stoneflies. The Black Alderfly does have a resemblance to it, but you can tell by looking at wings just how different they are.

#OnThisDate & #NationalSunglassesDay: Happy “National Sunglasses Day” everyone!! Did you wear your sunglasses today after it stopped raining?! Last year (6/27/2021), my friend and I wore our sunglasses to keep the bright sun out of our eyes at Riverfront Park in Troy,NY. After stopping at Wicked to listen to Legend, we made it back to Troy to catch the sunset after a scorching hot day. Today (6/27/2022) was rainy then sunny late morning-afternoon. I ran errands and got some work done at home. Hope you had a good day!! Remember to always wear your sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun!! (Friends’ selfie taken by Amy L. Spots! 6U8A9336 by Daniel D'Auria Via Flickr: Imagine suddenly realizing that you have spots! A fawn’s white spots might seem to accentuate their appearance, but nothing could be farther from the truth. When they are huddled down in the underbrush, the spots help provide effective camouflage. But fawns more commonly look at their adult counterparts and they have long since lost their spots. This fawn is really just grooming itself, but its facial expression almost suggests intense surprise.
