The tendency in fandom to take every white girl with short hair, regardless of the status of their canonical interest or lack of interest in women and explicit interest and/or sexual history with everything but, proclaim them a lesbian queen, and then ignore or absolve them of every single horrific act they take in fiction because of this. Is not doing feminism. Women. Lesbians. Or anyone. Any favors. It’s just bad.

Somehow. Some people really do apparently need to hear that...being any specific sexuality...is not a personality trait.

And also. Women aren’t inherantly less vile than men (or anyone non-binary, agender, fluid, etc, else), and whatever bad deeds they do should be judged based on just that—on the deeds, and their context. Not their sexuality, imagined sexuality, or their gender. Becuase none of those things effect whether committing murder is bad. At all. Not even a little. And none of them. Is even a personality trait. Affecting the character’s value as a person.

It’s cool, and good, to see characters with minority identities. And it’s real nice. When it’s whatever you are. But them being whatever. Is not a personality trait. Just a fact. And sometimes. People of any type. Are not good. Pretending any minority status—gender, sexuality, race, disability, neurotype, etc—is a get out of jail free card? Is not. Doing them. Or anyone. Any favors. Personality disorder. Doesn’t make you bad. Also doesn’t make you good. Your actions do. Acting like Amy from Gone Girl did nothing wrong when she date rapes her boyfriend & then frames him for doing that to her & ruins his life, then blackmails her husband who is terrified of being murdered by her into staying with her for the sake of the child she made at a fertility clinic with his sperm without his consent, bc she’s a woman. Isn’t good. Men aren’t more deserving of violence than women. Neither is anyone else. Jane. Left an infant child in an unheated car in subzero weather in a snow storm with zombies around that easily would hear it cry and go eat it. So she could lie and say she already let zombies eat it to bait a man with easily triggerable PTSD who had just lost his family to zombies for the second time into starting a fight. Because he was injured, unarmed, weak, down an eye, and 50, while she was fit, mid 20s, healthy, and armed with a hunting knife. Because she wanted an excuse to kill him without looking bad, because she wanted the 11 year old girl she was co-parenting with him, all to herself. And her immediately responding to the dude throwing a punch by stabbing him in the stomach to escalate the fight from brawl to life or death, then losing her knife, and instead of telling him the baby was alive & she’d made it up to start a fight which could have at any point ended the fight, begging the 11 year old child to gun down her oldest surviving friend with her own hands in cold blood so that she’d get what she wanted? Is evil. As is crying on the 11 year old and using pity as a weapon to get her to stay with her if she gets mad and wants to leave when she realizes Jane staged the whole thing for an excuse to murder, and so is after realizing like a month later that she is pregnant, committing suicide, and leaving the 11 year old that she just manipulated into killing her oldest surviving friend/completely isolated on purpose so she could have her to herself, totally alone in the apocalypse to care for an infant. Jennifer’s Body? Is a fantastic film. And Jennifer didn’t deserve any of what happened to her. But not one single boy she kills during the course of that film deserved it—and explicitly so. Even the guy who could easily have been a meathead jock bully is outside alone crying becuase his best friend just died and he loved him before she decides to lure him off and eat him alive. And acting like it’s totally fine & Needy should have just let her keep eating boys instead of killing her? Is fucked up. None of them deserved to die. And no one deserves death innately more because they are or are not something that is just a factual designator of their makeup as a human. The exchange student was scared and alone and nice, the catholic kid was sweet and Needy’s friend, Chip is a bad boyfriend but he meant well and being stupid doesn’t mean you deserve to die. And this girl ate them alive. That’s not funny. Or cool. Or fine becuase they were dudes. Gertrude Robinson? Chose again and again to betray people who loved her, or trusted her—sold out victims of awful trauma to their worst nightmares. Killed friends in the worst possible ways, like it was nothing. Michael loved her, and trusted her, and tried to care for her, and she without faltering fed him to his worst nightmare and forced him to become it. There is nothing excusable about that action.

Jude Perry? Has 0 redeeming features. Didn’t even stay faithful to her poor gf & was creepy obsessed w Agnes. Literally murdered her co-worker friend just because he was happy, and she wanted to destroy things: that’s it. She didn’t even dislike him. Murdered him because he had a wife and kid and house and it seemed fun, then burned down his house, took his wife’s money, and now checks in on his kid every so often in case he ever recovers from the trauma she inflicted enough to be fun to kill. There is literally nothing good about this woman. Yes. I mean that. Because being a lesbian? Is just a thing. There is no g/b tag, there is no tag at all. Amanda Young? Got kidnapped and tortured and forced to choose between killing a man who couldn’t resist but was conscious to watch her, and letting herself die, and she killed him. Then, instead of responding to that trauma with guilt or responsibility or anger at her captor, joined up with him and started helping him kidnap people just like her. She was not forced, she was not lied to. It does not matter if John was manipulative; she is a grown ass woman and like all grown ass adults, responsible for her own actions and choices. She did not get manipulated pitifully into this—she did not go unwillingly. She volunteered, with a happy vengeance, became obsessed with John and in love with him, despite his complete lack of interest. And she did not even just do what he did. She decided on her own that no one deserved redemption, & she killed them for fun in traps that wouldn’t let them go even if they did whatever awful thing the trap demanded as a price for life, just for the fun and power trip of watching them die helpless & in agony. That was all her, & her alone. She sat in a house full of people slowly dying from organ decomposition over the course of a few hours, for no crime worse than drug addiction—the thing she of all people should have been most sympathetic to—knowing full well at any time she could have saved them and stopped the game, and did nothing. She held a woman in her arms and stroked her head lovingly while she let her die in one of the most inhumane ways possible for the crime of having not been able to break an addition. She got saved by a 16 year old child multiple times, who had done nothing more than shoplift, and stood by while he had to watch a man get his brains blown out, another burn to death in an oven. As his organs slowly dissolved too. Watched the kid kill another human being & massively traumatize himself to save her life. And responded to that by attacking & knocking him out, tying him up, locking him up for days in a tiny safe bound and gagged with an oxygen supply to keep him alive, to be a piece in another game. Left his father, who had shown up to try & save him, to starve to death in chains in a horrible abandoned rotting room, & never even told him his son was alive. Let every other addict die horribly, let that kid sustain permanent damage to his organs that will kill him young, antidote taken or not, took his dad from him, & went back to torturing without a second thought. Kidnapped a woman whose worst crime was being a doctor & dating someone while maybe separated instead of divorced from her husband, put her in a trap that would take her head off with shotgun blasts, threatened her for fun, & then killed her even after she did everything she was asked, because it was more important to her that the old man she was obsessed with think she was special and great, than for the other woman to get to stay alive another day & go home to her daughter. There is nothing sympathetic about Amanda. She’s just not only evil, but too spineless to take responsibility for her own choices & actions, & tries to hide behind a “UwU I am sad & lonely & damaged & having trauma means I can literally torture people to death to feel special & it’s really tragic and sympathetic about me, not evil. Uhm. Some people??? Commit torture-murders?? To cope??” And acting like she’s somehow a victim in this becuase she is a pretty white girl with short hair? Is fucked. Up.

I have quite affection even. For Jeneffer specifically. But you can like. Character. Without proclaiming. Them perfect humans. Who never did a thing wrong. Or their acts somehow. Justifiable. And ok. And you better stop saying. Ok. Because done. To men. Men do not. Deserve violence. Any more. Than anyone else. No one deserves violence defacto for factors. Outside their control. Wtf. Really people. It’s ok too. For character. To do much bad stuff. And still like character. Villains. And often just complex characters. Sometimes just characters. Do stuff. That is bad. It’s not supposed to be not their fault. Or ok. Also. Women are not a sisterhood. Of flawless beings. Who never hurt anyone or do any bad stuff. They can. And are. Often purpotrators. Of awful acts. Interview with Fear of Water

It's been quite a while since I wrote an article here. Fact of the matter is, for the longest time I was afraid that I was falling out of love with music. In today's cesspool of djenty 0-0-0-1s, bro-metal and achy breaky heart related subject matter, I started to feel suffocated, desperately reeling towards that windowsill, clawing at it to get a breath of fresh air. Originality had become a dying art. All hope was gone.

I was searching for Sevendust covers one day to inspire doing one of my own, and what was awaiting me was the FRESHEST take of their acoustic song 'Bonfire' off of Time Travelers & Bonfires. People usually cover a song note for note, with a last minute vocal melody change towards the end, but this - This was... HEAVY. Groovy. Yet melodic. There was a Clint Lowery PRS as a weapon of choice in the thumbnail, so I knew this guy was serious about his shit.

"What the fuck?" I muttered, as I played it.

And from the moment the crunch kicked in, it hit me like a flying brick to the face. Instant K.O, ladies and gentlemen!

I tried getting up, but the man was owning every instrument in there. There's a MEAN solo in there too... I'll post an embedded video down below shortly, but in that moment I KNEW that I had to talk to this guy. He made this song his own, and his work was the shot in the arms I was looking for.

I recently got to sit down with him and have a chat.

So what got you into music and how long have you been doing it for?

I had extensive bouts of sickness and infection from birth which caused long term damage on my hearing and other aspects of my health. Several surgeries, a dozen medications and years of speech therapy helped me finally get back to somewhat normal but from a development standpoint, I was years behind kids my age. I struggled greatly with all my academics, any form of memorization and even a large amount of motor skill related tasks. I have always gravitated towards music, even when I was clinically deaf due to my illness as a child. My family has VHS tapes of baby Dave sitting next to giant speakers because I could feel the vibrations of Genesis, The Stones and Springsteen. Once I regained my hearing, I would OBSESSIVELY listen to any and everything, actually gravitating towards jazz early on. That being said, I had zero musical abilities or talent.

I tried out for band in 4th grade, I wanted to play sax so damn bad. In my mind, that instrument was the epitome of cool. My try out on a plastic recorder was beyond horrible, so the band director relegated me to the percussion section. It quickly became clear that drums were for the rejects that wanted to be in band but couldn’t hang with the other performers.

At first I was biter but I quickly discovered Nirvana, Metallica and NIN. I quickly understood that rock doesn’t live without drums and I became dedicated to embracing this instrument. I struggled for two years, had absolutely zero ambidexterity. I felt like a marionette and I couldn’t clip the strings. I tried and tried to no avail.

Then in the spring of 1996, I very vividly remember listening to Load by Metallica, specifically Ain’t my Bitch. I was listening to the song over and over, air drumming on my lap during a multi-hour car ride when I felt a very distinct “pop” in my head. All the sudden I felt like the strings were finally clipped and I finally achieved ambidexterity. Over the next year, everything fell in to place: my academic drastically improved, my memory came back out of nowhere and I became obsessed with drums. From that point on, I knew that music was going to be an integral part of my life so I dedicated the vast majority of my free time to learning as many instruments and music as possible. 24 years later I’m still going.

What was the first song you ever learnt?

Ohhhh....good question. On drums it was In Bloom by Nirvana. That intro/hook drum fill was my absolute favorite. On guitar, probably anything/everything on SMASH by Offspring.

Most people spend the better part of their years learning one instrument, but you're pretty much a one-man-band. What was the driving force behind learning more than one trade?

Going back to my first answer, I came to the understanding that I had unlocked this skill set and I needed to explore it as much as I can. I’m still learning new things every year. My mom’s side of the family has been incredibly musical for several generations so I’m starting with a good tool kit.

What's your go-to song when you pick up the guitar or sit behind the kit?

Drums: March of the Pigs by NIN. It was the first “complex” beat I ever learned. The idea of playing in 5/4 initially blew my mind but once I got it, I couldn’t stop.

Guitar: Sad but True by Metallica. It will forever be the ultimate metal song to me.

Your biggest inspiration?

A three way tie between Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl and Clint Lowery. They are all multi-instrumentalists that are great people who have maintained a strong career through changing genres and tough times (addiction, loss, legal battles, etc.)

What's your fondest musical memory?

That “pop” in 1996 was pretty damn magical. In recent history, it was playing to a sold out crowd opening up for Pop Evil last year in Wisconsin. The crowd energy was electric and that feeling is addictive!

As a casual bedroom guitarist myself, I feel like very often we reach plateaus and don't even realize it - After doing music for so long, how do you think one can assess their skills?

I think it’s important to always be trying new things, especially if you’re uncomfortable with it: new styles, new tubings, new instruments, writing original when you’ve only done covers. If you’re really struggling, then that’s a benchmark for that moment but now you have a goal, set your sights and push through.

Are you happy with where the rock scene is currently at? How do you think we can make it better?

Yes and no. The music industry as a whole will never be the same with the advent of streaming and stealing music. It has made an already unlikely career a near impossibility for most. That being said, newer tools allow for more casual musicians to get their music in front of people they never could have otherwise. Specifically Rock: it’s still a live in several different genres. I know my generation will keep it alive as long as we can.

If you were stuck on an island indefinitely, what one album would you take with you?

Assuming I have a device on which I can play said album? 😊 The Colour and the Shape by Foo Fighters. It’s a masterpiece.

Who's one lesser known musician you think people should know about?

Danny Schmitz (from Milwaukee, lives in NYC). He has a killer band, Lost in a Name, and is also a stellar solo artist & producer. The man can shred and we’ve collaborated on a few songs that you can hear at www.facebook.com/TheFearOfWater

“Long story short: I need your help.”

You let out a long sigh, followed by eye rolling and ironic laughter. Wonderful.

“Come on, you can’t mean this.”

You tried your best to hide it but you knew you were actually pretty flattered by her offer and you knew that you knew it was. But you couldn’t not let her get her wish like that. She was not the princess. Actually, she was ... But she shouldn’t get her way that easily.

“Please”, she begged, trying her best as well, grabbing you by your sleeve.

You thought about it for a few more seconds and bit your lip to make it look more dramatic. Cheryl knew that you would agree eventually, but there was a little tension in her shiny eyes.

You rolled your eyes again. “Alright.”

A high shriek ripped your ears out their comfort and immediately let you regret your decision somehow. Still you smiled when she hugged you energetically.

“I’ll just get my pencils and all the stuff - where should we do it? Like home? At yours? You can’t get undressed here and-”

“Wait, what? Get undressed? Cheryl, that’s not what we were talking about”, you protested, almost choking on your vanilla milkshake.

Cheryl, sweet and well-played innocent as always, smiled at you.

“Not like that, silly. We’re not in the Titanic movie and I for sure am not DiCaprio - but I can’t draw your pretty contours, your magnificent mane, your soul and then let you wear a damn pair of sweat pants.”

Good point, you thought, but you didn’t answer anything. Your eyes followed her all the way out of Pop’s, as she rushed through the street like it was Christmas eve and she just realized that she’d forgot the most important present.

Months ago you would’ve never thought that you ever might get there. Sitting at Pop’s, sipping at the same vanilla flavored milkshake that Cheryl did, just from another straw. Actually, she liked the strawberry one more. But she’d never admit it - she knew you loved vanilla. You smiled and suddenly felt heat in your cheeks. She was so perfect and there was no way that you really deserved that.

  Hours later you found yourself sitting in your living room. Your parents went for Easter Holiday, intelligent as you thought, but you couldn’t leave. It was almost no time left til finals (well, actually there were some months, but that was not enough for a nerd who’d write award winning mathematics tests). So you stayed home to study and spend time with the cutest girl in town.

“I should wear what?” You lifted your view, just to find her staring at you with something in her eyes that you had never seen before. It was like...You were her muse. You knew Cheryl was good, no, great at drawing, but since you’d given her the official YES for drawing you...it was like nothing could stop her. Her eyes were sparkling like a star filled night in July.

“Panties, a white T-Shirt and a smile”, she responded chillingly calm and handed you over an oversized white T-Shirt that looked so sterile as if no one had ever touched it before. The white was so white that it almost hurt your eyes.

“But...”

“Listen, the shirt is so long, it doesn’t show anything. And also I’d never draw anything if I knew it’d make you uncomfortable, okay?”

You nodded at her, still suspicious, but you didn’t say anything.

“Honey. This is for you and only for you. And well, for me maybe. Do you trust me?”

As she spoke, she placed her hands on your cheeks. The skin of her hands was so soft that it sent shivers down your back. When you opened your eyes again, you saw her ones staring deep in your soul, as you thought. Immediately you felt weak in your knees.

“Yes”, your lips formed silently. You felt her thumb softly caressing first your cheek, than your lower lip. She lowered her view down on your lips, then looked back at your eyes.

“You won’t regret it. I promise”, she whispered.

“Okay. Okay.”

Before you had the time to say anything more, she reached out for the shirt again, pressing it against your chest.

“Please”, she said, trying to sound annoyed. She knew she couldn’t, when you were around, which left you even happier.

Without a word you took the shirt and threw it on the couch which should be your home for the next few hours. You unbuttoned your shirt quickly, threw it next to the shirt. When you reached out for it, Cheryl coughed.

“What now?”, you hissed.

“The bra, too”, she commanded, slowly sitting down on her chair with a giant drawing pad in front of her.

You gave her a diabolic smile. „Fine.“

As soon as your fingers reached the button, the bra sailed down to the floor, where it landed next to your feet. You reached for the whity shirt, when you noticed blandly staring. You looked up to find Cheryl slightly distracted. With your best poker face, trying not to become too red in the face, you put the shirt on, then let yourself fall onto the sofa.

„How should I sit?“

„A bit more left…yes, like that. I like your hair on one side, on the left side. Yes, you look like a tiger! I like that“, she said, talking more to herself than to you.

Cheryl had put the heating on the highest rate since you sat there half naked, for hours, with nothing to do but looking back at her while she did her best to let your figure become whole on a white piece of paper.

When she started, you could tell something was changing about her. Nothing about her apperance that was specific – the fire-red hair was tied up into a messy bun (which no one would see her with, usually), but her face was so concentrated, that it gave you goosebumps.

„I feel a bit like young Rose“, you said with a dying voice.

Your girlfriend smiled mildly. „You’re a hundred thousand times prettier than her, but yeah, I get your point.“ Her voice was mostly just a mumbling, but her hands were doing real work. You had never seen her so spiced up in her element. It was chilling to see Cheryl fly up high in one of her many passions.

After some time, you lowered your view. „I feel terrible now“, you admitted.

„Don’t worry, I won’t make you look terrible“, she murmured. You smiled, but your smile was hiding something. Suddenly she stopped working, then looked at you.

„What is it?“, she asked with a serious voice.

„I feel bad since your present is so…this. Compared to that…“

Cheryl found her smile again and put it back on.

„To be here with you for Easter, that’s the greatest gift I could ever get. To have you in my arms, watching stupid horror movies and hearing your breathing right next to me while falling asleep…“

She didn’t say it, but you saw how her lips slowly formed a word.

Paradise.

  It took many hours. Many, many hours. Many visits to the bathroom, some pill against headaches and so much classical music. But it was worth it, eventually.

„It’s done“, Cheryl said suddenly, more to herself.

You jumped up immediately. „Let me see it.“ Your eyes were burning.

„Okay…okay. I’m not sure if…I mean it isn’t…Okay, get over here.“

Her fingers were dirty from the pencils, her eyes seemed tired and her messy bun was even messier by then, but she looked as happy as never before, you thought.

She made sure your eyes were closed, before you reached the front of it. Then she let go of your face and told you to open your eyes.

What you saw was just spectacular.

You saw a girl. She had a massive amount of hair, you saw pale hands with bony fingers, you saw fullfilled lips and two terribly annoying dimples, you saw heartbreak and compassion, you saw a vulnerable girl that got nervous whenever she undressed infront of her girlfriend, you saw tensely laughter, you saw…you.

„Oh my god, Cheryl.“

„Don’t tell me…“

Before another word fell out of her mouth, you grabbed her by her hands, pulled her as close as possible and then you kissed her. You felt her heat, her sweaty hands in your neck, her cold nose, her nervous breathing, the chills she got when she felt your lips on hers. Her body was relaxing with the seconds and she placed her hands on your waist slowly before pulling her had back.

„So you like it?“

You smiled at her as if she’d just asked a question which answer was so, so clear.

„I’ve never seen something comparable beautiful, Cheryl. It’s the most wonderful thing someone’s ever done for me. I think it’s…it’s perfect.“

You felt her arm tightening around your waist, pulling closer, so close that nothing could get inbetween you.

„So, Cheryl, about your present…“

„If it’s the cherry formed wristwatch in white gold from Perry’s I’m freaking. Screaming.“

„How would you…“

„Hell-o. I’m Cheryl Blossom. Do you really think anything in this town gets to happen without my knowing?“

You grabbed her hands and stared at her, parts amused and other parts happy as ever.

„So, did you predict this as well?“, you whispered in her ear, kissing the edge of it, slowly and softly. You felt her breath was going faster and that was your sign.

„Bed time, cherry baby. I’ve got another surprise for you“, you promised as the two of you ran up the stairs and wouldn’t get back down til Easter was over.

And every second of it was worth it.

It Will Be Alright

My day was going perfectly: I had my favourite lesson – history- and got a pretty good score on my maths exam. This was before PE though.

"Yes Percy! You can do it! " Annabeth cried from the bleachers waving a massive poster with 'PERCY!' written on it. I was playing my semi-final basketball game of the season and she and Jason had come to cheer me on; Mum and Paul were at a work conference they couldn't miss. I waved back, giving her a small smile before getting back into the game. We had five minutes left and were up 2-0 when it happened.

I was in defence, blocking the other team from the hoop, when a huge guy called Kevin Schmidt wacked the ball over to the other side of the court. Luckily I managed to deflect it, but not without injuring myself. The ball had hit my hand so hard it bent my hand back. I keeled over in excruciating pain, holding my hand as if it were a baby. I got kind of dizzy so I didn't notice the guys had run over to me to check I was okay.

"Percy?! Percy, can you hear me?! " I looked up at Annabeth for a few seconds with a blank look on my face before it registered who it was. "Oh gods," I moaned in pain, feeling a deep throb all down my arm. My right arm as well. Just my luck.  "Percy can you stand up? " This time it was my history teacher, Miss Harris who asked the question, putting her hand on my back. " Um, yeah, I just need a, uh, shower. " By this time the game had already ended, regardless of an injured player, so it would've been okay for me to go.

" If you're sure," She looked rather surprised but agreed nonetheless. "Jason, can you help him over?" He nodded quickly, put his arm around my waist and stood me up, walking over to the locker room.

"Hey man, " He said when we got there. "Do you, er, need any... help?" He looked at the mouldy tiles on the floor. "Just my shirt." He relaxed considerably at that. Thank the gods, he whispered to himself. Taking off my shirt was a feat with two people, let alone one, but eventually I wriggled out of it. He then said, " I'm going to talk to Annabeth outside, shout if you need me. " I nodded and quickly slipped off my shorts. I turned the shower on and let it wash over me.

Much to my surprise, the water didn't help. Like at all. Maybe it had but it hurt to much for me to realise. I turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around my waist and walked over to my locker. It was much harder to open left-handed than I thought. After a while, it finally opened so I grabbed my clothes and sat down on a bench, trying to figure out how to put them on. Soon I was fully dressed in my khaki shorts, white t-shirt and my hi-tops. I just tucked the laces into the sides.

Emerging from the locker room, I saw Annabeth and Jase talking in the corner of the court. I had started walking over to them when she saw me over Jason's shoulder and ran over to me. "Are you okay Perce? Did the water work? " She asked hurriedly. I shook my head. "Not that I noticed." Crap, she muttered under her breath. "Guess I'll be taking you to the ER then?" Jason asked getting his car keys out. I nodded tiredly. My arm was really hurting now. Whatever the water had done to help, had gone. "It's okay, I'll pick your car up later." He told me, patting my other shoulder. Annabeth had her arm wrapped around me protectively.

She sat in the backseat with me, keeping me company. "How bad is it? " She whispered in my ear. "Bad." I mouthed back. She gave me a sad look and snuggled up closer to me. Before I could snuggle back, Jason announced we were here. "It's gonna be okay." I heard her say quietly. Whether it was to me or herself, I didn't know.

It didn't take long to be seen by a doctor. Thankfully there was hardly anyone there, because I had no idea how much longer I could stand the pain.

"So how did you injure you hand?" The doc asked, feeling the bones in my hand and wrist. "It was during- ah ah- basketball." I said, exclaiming as she hit a painful spot. "The opponent threw it so hard it bent my hand back." "My god!" She looked really concerned. "I'm going to need to take some X-Rays. Where are your parents?" She asked, writing some notes. "Poughkeepsie." I told her wincing slightly. "They're at a conference." She nodded, writing this down.

"Do you have a number for them?" She asked, and I recited the number like mom had taught me to do in an emergency. "Someone from radiography will be down soon, and I'll get a nurse to give you something g for the pain." I gave my thanks and she left the room. Then Annabeth and Jase walked in and kept me company until it was time to go upstairs.

Finally, mom and Paul got here so the doctor could tell them the results. Wise girl and Jason had to wait outside. "It doesn't look very good I'm afraid. Percy has broken the base of his fourth metatarsal and cracked the hamate and lunate bones in his wrist. Do you have any questions?" I gripped mums hand tightly, panic starting to take over. "What about basket ball?" I asked. "It's finals next week." She looked down at my chart nervously. "I'm sorry, but you won't be able to play for the next two and a half to three months. I will come back to do your cast in a few minutes." She swiftly left the room. I dropped my grip on mums hand, letting it fall next to her. "Oh honey, I'm so sorry. " I heard her say in the background. It was like I had cotton wool in my ears. She bent down for a hug, but I stopped her before she could get any closer. "I, er, want to be alone." I choked out, tears brimming. "Don't let them come in." She knew who I meant. She nodded and quickly left the room, Paul tagging along behind. "It'll be okay." He whispered before closing the door. Moments later, the tears started to fall.

A few minutes later like the doc said, there was a knocking on the door, bringing me out of my pity party. "Percy? Can I come in?" I furiously started wiping my eyes before letting her in. "Hey. I've come for your cast." I nodded understanding. "This is going to hurt, just to warn you." And it did. I liked her because she didn't lie to me. Oh and she was hot. But anyways. Fifteen minutes later, she asked me what colour I wanted. I told her green, wincing through the sharp pains. "The colour of your eyes." She said dreamily. Then she looked up with wide eyes. "Excuse me,,I need to check on something." She probably thought she said that in her head. Nevermind. With my left hand, I called mum from my phone.

"Mum?"

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Can you ask them to leave? I don't want them to see me like this."

"Sure," she said sadly. "I'll come in when they've gone."

"Okay."

"What about Paul?"

"Can he go as well?"

"Okay. I'll be there in a few minutes."

"Thanks."

Soon mum came in looking upset. "What's up?" I asked, scrutinizing her expression. "They won't think any differently of you." I took a deep breath. "I just can't deal with them right now. Right now I want my mum." Tears starting to spill from her eyes, she rushed over and hugged me so hard, I thought I was going to suffocate. "It'll be alright baby." She sniffled into my shoulder. We sat like that for a while before driving home.

When we got there I went straight to my room and locked it. I wanted to get properly upset - I couldn't in hospital. I started telling and throwing things, and a couple of minutes later mum came up, knocking on my door. "Honey," she said. "Can I come in?" I didn't answer so she unlocked the door herself. She gasped when she saw me. I could feel the tear stains down my cheeks and my hair must've been a mess. She came over silently and pulled me into another hug.

"They'll be picking for scholarships next week," I cried into her. "I'm not going to have any chance!" I cried for a while, mum occasionally shushing me. "It will be alright. "

36. High School: it was difficult at the beginning because I enrolled in a new school and I’m very shy so... making new friends was kind of a challenge to me. But I couldn’t be happier with how it finally turned up!

College/university: I used to have a lot more social life back in high school, but that’s because I chose to study an engineering and I’ve always struggled with maths and physics, but I still like it so... Either way, I can’t complain! Luckily I’ll be graduating in 2 or 3 more years (I should be graduating on 2018 summer though 😂😂)

Do you have a crush on someone: I have a 10 number list that I made with a uni friend of guys that are “exceptions” (celebrities which you’d like to hook up with and with who it would be allowed to have sex even if you were in a relationship because it’s definitely not likely to happen). Guess who’s on top of the list? Yeah, Harry Styles.

41. What do you like about yourself: my will power and that I’m always willing to help and listen to people (even though some of them wouldn’t do the same for me). I keep telling myself (and my closest friends keep telling me) I should learn about it and stop being so naive and kind to some people, but I can’t help it!

42. Piercings: I used to have a second earring on my left ear but I removed it because it didn’t heal well. I want to pierce it again, though.

Tapi memang begitulah kenyataannya 😁 Tanggal 18 Oktober 2017 lalu aku mendapat kesempatan untuk belajar menjadi montir cantik di PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) yang berlokasi di Karawang, Indonesia. Aku bersama rekan blogger Indonesian Social Blogpreneur mendapat kesempatan untuk mengunjungi pabrik Toyota dan melihat secara langsung bagaimana cara pembuatan mobil Innova dan Fortuner yang saat ini sedang ramai di pasar otomotif Indonesia. Sebelum memulai perjalanan keliling lokasi Plant-1 TMMIN, kami mendapat pengarahan mengenai keamanan dan peraturan di lokasi terlebih dahulu. Pada peraturan yang tampak di gambar atas, pengunjung pabrik tidak diperbolehkan mengambil foto dengan kamera, namun kali ini ada pengecualian untuk #TemanTMMIN 😍 kami diperbolehkan mengambil foto, selfie, wefie di lokasi pabrik, namun tidak diperkenankan untuk ajak mas-mas montir kece untuk selfie bareng 👀

Helm pelindung kepala: Selalu gunakan helm pelindung ini saat berada di lokasi pabrik

Safety glasses: Kacamata yang kami pakai dalam foto diatas bukan kacamata gaya ya! Tapi kacamata untuk melindungi mata kita selama berada di lokasi pabrik.

Arm protector: Gunanya untuk melindungi lengan tangan kita selama di lokasi pabrik. Didalam lokasi pabrik Toyota ini terdapat beberapa area pengerjaan yang menghasilkan percikan kembang api dari mesin las-nya.

Ada seseorang yang cemburu berat diseberang sana ketika tahu aku mendapat kesempatan keliling pabrik Toyota untuk melihat langsung produksi mobil Innova dan Fortuner. Seseorang itu adalah kakak kandungku laki-laki, aku memanggilnya mas Soni. Masku adalah seorang lulusan otomotif yang bercita-cita bekerja di pabrik Toyota, namun Tuhan berkata lain sehingga Dia menempatkan masku di perusahaan lain 😌 Ada 5 Flow Proses Produksi di TMMIN, yaitu:

Saat masuk kedalam area pertama di TMMIN, aku langsung tahu kenapa masku mendambakan bekerja di perusahaan ini. Lokasinya yang bersih, ruang kerja yang teratur serta sistem yang terjaga benar-benar membuat nyaman para pekerja di perusahaan ini. Para pekerja di lokasi agak sedikit kaget melihat kedatangan kami rombongan blogger, namun masih tetap fokus mengerjakan jobdescnya 😀

Biasanya kalau masku lagi asik utak-atik mesin mobil dirumah, aku nggak bakal banyak dikasih tahu sama dia kegunaan part mobil itu apa saja. Nah mumpung lagi di pabriknya langsung, aku jadi serius dan excited banget nyimak penjelasan teknisi yang mengantar kami berkeliling. Kecepatan dalam mencetak spare part menjadi salah satu kelebihan TMMIN, untuk membuat 1 mobil dibutuhkan 370 kg sheet steel, dan setiap 6 detik akan ada 1 part yang keluar dan ada 105 part untuk setiap tipe mobil. Mungkin ga partnya bakal ketuker pit? Tenang bro, sistem di TMMIN sangat aman dan teratur jadi tidak mungkin tertukar 😉 Cycle time TMMIN ini luar biasa yaaa!

Laci yang berisi alat-alat ini tidak akan bisa ditutup jika masih ada alat/part yang kurang atau belum dikembalikan dalam laci

Welding ya gaes, bukan wedding! Jangan salah baca, apalagi salah paham 🙄😅 Sesuai dengan arti dan fungsinya, area welding adalah area pengelasan. Di area ini kita akan banyak melihat percikan kembang api, karena proses penggabungan beberapa part yang membentuk mobil. Saat melintas di area ini, aku berkhayal bisa nyanyi “Baby, you’re a firework!!! Come on, let your colours burst” ala katy perry, namun faktanya adalah aku jalan cepat nyaris lari kecil ketika melewati percikan kembang api dari mesin las 😂

Saat di area Welding ini aku menyimak baik-baik semua penjelasan pak Yahya, Supervisi Welding Area yang menemani kami berkeliling. Di area ini menggunakan robot karena ada bagian-bagian mobil yang membutuhkan akurasi yang tepat dan hal itu hanya dapat dilakukan oleh peralatan robot, serta berbahaya jika dilakukan oleh manusia.

PAINTING

Coating process to protect surface & Make attractive appearance by apply paint material. Purpose: Anti Rust, Leakage Prevention, Sound Deadening, Appearance.

Sayangnya kami para blogger belum bisa memasuki area painting karena dibutuhkan baju khusus dan di area tersebut tidak bisa dikunjungi oleh banyak orang 😁 Untungnya usai berkeliling area pabrik kami kembali berkumpul di ruang aula untuk mendengarkan penjelasan lebih lanjut tentang area-area yang kita kunjungi.

Bapak Susilo, Supervisi Assembly mengatakan bahwa system yang digunakan pada area ini adalah system terbaik nomor 1 di Indonesia, karena mereka menyatukan mesin dan body mobil dari bawah ke atas (Mesin yang bergerak naik/terpasang ke body mobil) Maaf yaa cyint kalau bahasaku menjelaskan systemnya nggak teknik banget 😅

Untuk mobil Innova ada 1.100 main parts dan 1.400 Bolt & Nut dan memiliki 126 variasi.

Semua member di area ini memiliki skill yang bagus, bahkan mereka juga pernah meraih juara di Thailand saat mengikuti lomba otomotif se-Asia.

Untuk 1 mobil Innova ada 3.900 total points yang harus di cek. Appearance 1300 points, Function 1100 points dan untuk sampling check: Measurement 800 points dan Fuction 700 points

Test course: 2.4 KM with climbing & flood simulation

Kunjungan kami berakhir di area Final Test, dan aku dibikin bengong melongo banget saat melihat berbagi macam tes yang digunakan untuk memastikan bahwa mobil yang dikeluarkan oleh Toyota layak dipasaran. Ada satu ruangan khusus untuk mengecek apakah mobil Innova/Fortuner ini tahan terhadap curah hujan tingi dan tidak terjadi kebocoran, pas di ruangan itu mobil disemprot pake air dari atas, kanan, kiri, muka belakang untuk memastikan bahwa tidak ada kebocoran. Nggak heran yaaa, mau hujan deras seperti gimana pun kalau kita lagi di dalam Innova atau Fortuner nggak bakal kehujanan dan terjadi kebocoran 😂😍

Dalam perjalanannya TMMIN telah memproduksi mobil, mesin, komponen serta dies dan jig. Selain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri, jenis produk Toyota ini juga diekspor ke berbagai negara. Rasio saat ini 1:2 permintaan mobil Fortuner jauh lebih banyak daripada mobil Innova. Saat ini banyak mobil Fortuner warna putih dan setir kiri di ekspor ke negara timur tengah, Filipina serta Vietnam. Untuk lokal sendiri banyak peminat mobil Fortuner warna Hitam.

TMMIN mengimplementasikan Toyota Production System (TPS) dalam rangkaian produksinya. Metode ini bertujuan meningkatkan efisiensi dengan mengurangi hal-hal yang tidak perlu. Implementasi TPS dilakukan di lima pabrik TMMIN yang berlokasi di Jakarta Utara dan di Karawang.

TMMIN  memproduksi berlandaskan konsep built in quality dan just in time, yaitu:

Built In Quality: memproduksi barang dengan tingkat presisi sempurna agar hasilnya berkualitas tinggi (zero defect).

Just In Time: Untuk menjaga kepuasan konsumen, TMMIN selalu menjaga ketepatan waktu selesai produksi dengan tetap mengedepankan kualitas.

TMMIN meraih penghargaan sebagai perusahaan eksportir terbaik dari Kementerian Perdagangan RI sebanyak tujuh kali, yaitu tahun 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 dan 2016.

Untuk pertama kalinya aku merasa bangga bisa menjadi #TemanTMMIN yang bisa belajar menjadi montir cantik. Kalau sudah tahu proses pembuatannya yang benar-benar terjaga dan sempurna, nggak heran lagi kenapa harga mobil Fortuner itu mahal sekali. Ada harga, ada rupa! 😉😘
