“Oh, I’m inclined to agree,” Sonia replied, a small, wistful sigh escaping her lips. “It is important in my family to smile no matter what one faces, especially in times of anger and sadness, but-”

She paused. Who exactly was she speaking to in the first place. Or perhaps, more accurately, what was she speaking to?

“OH MY! You’re a deer! A talking DEER!” She exclaimed, stuck between excitement and shock as she stared, rather intently and inappropriately at that, as if trying to discern if the deer was perhaps stuffed. Or a robot.

She had reason to believe in such things, anyway. 

“I admit I have heard of talking bears and talking rabbits, but never talking deer!”

Hopefully he wasn’t another creation, constructed by someone with malicious intent. Still, perhaps she should find Gundham. Surely he’d be fascinated to learn of a deer who could communicate with human speech!
