Just thinking aloud about fame, celebrity, and Pluto in Aquarius...

When Britney Spears was released from the conservatorship there were posts about how it's likely Britney might not be as internet-literate or socially appropriate as we'd like her to be, considering everything she went through. The posts encouraged others to be patient and understanding, and not to cancel her if she happens to make any mistakes.

Just now I saw a similar point about Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Now that she's released she intends to make herself very public online, but her entire life (32 years) has been spent in either one prison or the other. There are concerns for how she might adjust to the internet we know today, seeing as how she likely didn't get the opportunity to grow alongside social media the way the rest of us did.

In the 2024 Year Ahead Forecast from The Astrology Podcast they brought up the Pluto in Leo generation, and how that period of time and that generation relate to the making of our concept of "celebrity". They're also the generation that are holding on to power (like the presidents of the USA). Pluto in Leo gen is also unique because it's one of the only Pluto generations that is likely to live to their Pluto opposition, which is happening now. With this Pluto opposition, the pod talked about how the idea of who gets to be in power is likely to change. As well as our concept and relationship with "celebrities".

In 1991, Pluto in Scorpio (square to Pluto in Leo, if it matters. Whether it matters is still something I'm exploring here), Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I'm not actually sure how public illness was allowed to be previous to that. I just remember growing up how Michael J. Fox was something of a special case, and his celebrity status helped make massive leaps in awareness and research for Parkinson's.

Hollywood became big in the 1920's, when Pluto was in Cancer. While Pluto has been in the opposite sign, Capricorn, I feel like I've heard about a million celebrities coming out with illness. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Bruce Willis. Recently, Celine Dion. If you Google it, there are lists of dozens of celebrities with chronic illnesses. Not to mention mental illness, which has become that much more public.

My feeling at this point is that there are themes of privacy, hidden and internal illness, and representation here that we've seen getting dug up from the Pluto in Cancer era. True crime stories from old Hollywood, being open about mental illness, exposing how child talents have been exploited by the industry, and of course, hidden afflictions to celebrities are changes we've seen around fame through the trine, Pluto in Scorpio, and opposition, Pluto in Capricorn.

Most obviously, though, who gets to be famous has changed the most in the last 20 years. It used to be only special, hand-picked people who got to be famous. Now it could be anybody with a cell phone.

I think of this blog post on the Aries Point by Ace (AliceSparklyKat), where they talk about how the angular points seem to manifest. They've noticed that celebrities whose Sun is at 0 degrees Cancer seem to be regarded as chameleon-like in their nationality, form, or culture, and those with 0 degrees Capricorn seem to be known for a peak example for one nationality, form, or culture. I wonder if this can be seen in this shift to influencer culture, particularly in the rhetoric that celebrities until now have been made to represent everybody. But now, after Pluto in Capricorn, we are much more aware of the consequences of not having fair representation of more nuanced, individual experiences. At first it was all about art and talent. Now, it's about the hard tacks of who gets what job and why, and the consequences of story. Very Cancer to Capricorn opposition coded.

Anyway, I feel like I've noticed a lot of celebrities becoming ill in the past, and now I feel like I'm seeing some "taboo" issues come up in influencer culture. I'm wondering about how this could be gearing us up for Pluto in Aquarius.

Ok. So, here’s the thing...

So my friend and I (well mostly me) were talking about the newest MLB episode “Guiltrip” and we both had a theory (or a realization idk).

A little summary of the episode:

Rose goes to the nurses office because of a headache. Juleka receives a message from Rose during lunch, which causes her to run away somewhere. The class follows her and encourage her to tell them what’s wrong. Juleka tells them that Rose has a illness. The class goes overprotective of Rose. Juleka feels guilty which causes her to get akumatized. Then, Pigella makes an appearance. Juleka’s deakumatized. End of episode. (Sorry if this summary is bad I just wanted to get the main parts of the episode down :) )

So, now that the creators have established that Rose had an illness when she was a kid and it just recently came back it got me thinking. What if the reason of why Rose has short hair is not because she wanted to, but because she had to. What if hair loss was one of the symptoms of Rose’s illness and Rose had to cut her hair because of that. What if Rose’s illness that she has is leukemia or cancer. :0

But that’s just my opinion (・ε・) (or theory idk)

Energy Update: July 2021

July starts out with a bang as our ongoing t-square between Mars in Leo, Saturn in Aquarius, and Uranus in Taurus goes exact on 7/1 and 7/3. The Saturn-Uranus square is the energy we will have to deal with all year but Mars in Leo is adding a bit of lighter fluid to an already strong inferno. The first few days of July may be one of the biggest chances to budge the stuck energy of our Unstoppable Force (Uranus in Taurus) meets Immovable Object (Saturn in Aquarius) but proceed with EXTREME caution and carry a fire extinguisher.

If you can't handle the flames, get out of the fire might be advice easily said than followed during this time.

Watch out for fireworks - both literally and figuratively.

2021 is a year where everything is on the chopping block - we are constantly being encouraged (bullied even, perhaps) to pair down, to get rid of anything and everything that no longer serves us. July is no different.

In July, things may get a bit more personal. July is a "3" universal month (5 (2+0+2+1) + 7 (July) = 12 = 1+2 = 3) - 3 represents connection and creativity. The three rules where we get together - how we connect - it represents learning and expansion. And indeed, all of our planets are dancing with one another all month long.

All of our personal planets are clustered together in Gemini, Cancer, and Leo - Mercury is the farthest behind because he went retrograde in Gemini, the Sun is making its way through Cancer, and Venus and Mars are about to conjunct in Leo before Venus overtakes her slower-moving brother.

On the other hand, our interpersonal and outer planets are all clustered from Capricorn to Taurus - Pluto in Capricorn, Saturn in Aquarius, Jupiter in Pisces (for like...one more minute before it retrogrades back into Aquarius), Chiron in Aries, and finally Uranus in Taurus. As our inner planets travel from Gemini, through Cancer, and onto Leo they are each making aspects to these outer planets one after the other.

Each new sign a personal planet enters into interacts with these outer giants differently - when in Cancer you're more likely to bring your emotions to the table while in Leo you're more likely to bring your ego. This is just the basics of transits and aspects in astrology that I'm explaining to you here but I'm doing so for a reason.

This is happening on a really fast scale. Mars speeds things up - Mars in Leo puts a slow-burning fire underneath everything that it touches. With Mars out ahead of Venus, the Sun, and Mercury he has the opportunity to really blaze a trail. Bide your time until the new moon on 7/9 before starting something new though - better to hunker down and let the Mars t-square ease up a bit before plowing forward.

Venus is not far behind her brother and relationship issues will be close to the surface through all of the beginning of July as Venus reactivates that t-square with Saturn and Uranus. It will be best to show a lot of patience to your others until Venus and Mars conjunct on 7/13 - they may be going through their own shit that has nothing to do with you.

Mercury makes one final square to Neptune in Pisces before finally leaving his retrograde shadow on 7/7 and exiting Gemini for Cancer on 7/11. Here they join in the Sun's mission to square Chiron in Aries and oppose Pluto in Capricorn as they make their way together through Cancer. Collective pain might be very close to the surface - remember to ward or protect yourself from it if you are an HSP.

The week of 7/12-7/15 is the friendliest cozy timing of the month but watch out for that weekend as the Sun opposed Pluto on 7/17. Venus enters Virgo on 7/21. the Sun enters Leo on 7/22, and we have a full moon at 01 degrees Aquarius on 7/23 - take what you have learned over the month and really, truly consider what you can let go of to become the better you.

The end of the month is all about refinement. With Venus and Mars now in Virgo, you'll start to see the need to draw some lines in the sand. To really work through the kinks, make an honest assessment of the value of things. Mars opposes Jupiter on 7/29 - make sure that you are not looking at the world through rose-colored glasses - all that glitters is not gold.

The Sun and Mercury conjunct on 8/1 on the same day as they form an opposition to Saturn in Aquarius - this is going to be a big power day. Plan ahead.

The Cancer King's Court ~ The Humans

Dave Strider, Rose Lalonde, and Jade Harley/The Crimson Defender, The Lady Clairvoyant, and The Witch Scientist.

This version of Dave Strider came very close to becoming Davesprite in his timeline. Up until his final conversation with Rose. 

Dave can’t stand the thought of leaving Rose to die all alone by herself. He’d grown close to her after spending so long with her in a doomed timeline. He couldn’t bare to lose her. So, he gets an idea.

If he goes God-Tier, he could potentially bring Rose back in time with him. So, Dave puts off time traveling back in exchange for reaching his quest bed. Upon going God-Tier, Dave brings Rose with him back in time to save her life, seeing how he can now just fly over to her planet and pick her up.

The two explain their situation to their doppelgangers, causing them both to pester John to try and stop him from following Terezi’s advice. Like in canon, John reconsiders and manages to avoid dying. God-Tier Dave is now able to steamroll the challenges of LOHAC with ease, guiding everyone and their counterparts to their quest beds so that they can reach God-Tier as well. Ultimately, this seems like the best case scenario…. until everyone discovers the timeline is now doomed.

Simply put, Dave was supposed to become Davesprite and Rose was supposed to be left behind. Because that didn’t happen, Paradox Space judged the session to be void.

This effects Dave more than he lets on, since it was his decision to take Rose with him in the first place. Both Roses are able to sus this out pretty easily, even as he tries to bottle it up, and they motivate John, Jade, and Other Dave to comfort him. The Roses conclude that the Horrorterrors may be able to help them, so they go to them for guidance. 

The Horrorterrors remember a similar situation with one of their “chosen”, so they inform The Invincible Heir of the situation. Equius gets Karkat to bring him and Nepeta in to investigate. After seeing how well they’ve managed to ace their session, the Meowrails decide it would be a good idea to get some of them to join the Court. 

Equius approaches the Roses first, believing them to be “human highbloods of proper breeding and stature” that he can easily approach. While they mistake his mannerisms for humility at first, they quickly put the pieces together and explain, no, humans don’t have a caste system. Nepeta takes Equius aside so he can recuperate and the two come back after a moment. They explain that they may have a means of salvaging their doomed timeline. However, it would require some morally dubious actions.

While the moirails do preface the info with the knowledge that all these atrocities will be undone, the Roses are still pretty horrified. They meet up with humans to discuss this and, at first, it seems like everyone is in favor of rejecting the offer outright. Until Dave speaks up. He and Rose came from a doomed timeline because John was manipulated. They ended up landing right in another one because Dave trying to save his only remaining friend was arbitrarily declared a mistake. Who’s to say that this isn’t happening to thosands of other versions of them across the multiverse?

Rose recognizes he’s only saying this to vent out his guilt and counters that they have no way of knowing if the offer is legitimate. Equius and Nepeta’s explanation sounded almost cultish from their perspective, after all. Dave immediately concedes and almost finds himself confessing how much all of this is weighing on him.

Then John and Jade raise their points. If these guys are willing to kill thousands of people, what will they do to them if they refuse the offer? A doubly valid point, seeing how the Court specifically targets God-Tiers.

Silence reigns over the humans. Equius and Nepeta had been so polite that they hadn’t even considered how pressed up against the wall they were.

So, they change gears into figuring out a plan to beat the Cancer King’s Court.

Dave, Rose, and Jade decide to go undercover. Pretending to agree to the offer so that they could find intel to Other Dave, Other Rose, and John. After all, the Court would probably be interested in having a Time Player, a Space Player, and a Seer on their team. The home team would still have two of those advantages at least, so their not losing much.

Dave, Rose, and Jade meet up with the moirails and say that they agree, on the sole condition that Other Dave, Other Rose, and John are spared. Equius and Nepeta agree and the three and inducted in.

Karkat doesn’t buy this for a second.

From what he remembers, the humans are a lot more intolerant of morally dubious actions. So, he decides to test their loyalty. He sends the three of them to gather up a bunch of God-Tiers for him to absorb, sending Gamzee with them so he can poke and prod at their minds all the while. Gamzee reports back that they’re spies after reading their minds and asks permission to kill them. Karkat shuts that down and chews him out for it. He instead takes the humans aside so he can convince them.

Firstly, he proves his intentions to them by  making a big show of reviving a timeline left destroyed by Lord English in front of the whole Court, instructing them to act like this is a normal thing. He allows the destoyed civilizations within to rebuild and guides them to prosper. Then, he shows them what The Condescension is capable of with her current power, letting them witness how she bends fate to her will. If he has that power, he could not only fix their doomed timelines, but save all doomed timelines everywhere.

He leaves them to think things over and immediately begins indoctrinating the revived timeline into his army. Another pawn towards his end game. They are indebted to their King, after all.

From the humans perspective, however, he made incredibly valid points. He revived an entire timeline, showing that his good intentions are genuine. Plus, the Condescension shows just what kind of horrific evil he’s up against and the kind of power he’ll have by the end of it. That last note leaves Rose hesitant. Power corrupts, after all. Dave and Jade are a lot more trusting, out of desperation and naivety respectively. 

But, all the same, they know their friends probably won’t accept this. Rose elects to be the one to give the intel. They all agree, she’s the only one capable of lying to them. Even if it hurts like hell.

The Humans play the same role in the Court as Tavros does. People are more inclinded to trust them, so they’re good for gathering up God-Tiers. And, if they need to drag those God-Tiers in by force, a Time Player and a Space Player are hard to beat.

The Humans get along well with the trolls, all things considered. It helps that they couldn’t spend much time with them and are going in with a mostly clean slate.

The sole exception is Dave and Terezi. After all, Terezi is the whole reason Dave’s timeline was doomed. Terezi is willing to accept full responsibility, however, and apologizes for what her counterpart did in his timeline.

The two are able to get past that eventually, but Terezi soon starts asking some uncomfortable questions. 

“JOHN’S TRUST 1N YOU S4V3D H1S L1F3. DON’T YOU F33L… D1RTY B3TR4Y1NG H1M L1K3 TH1S?”

“ok but like i’m not though. he’ll understand that. …he has to.”

How much of that is The Hung Jury and how much is Main Terezi, I’ll leave up to you.

Conversations between Rose and Kanaya are awkward here. Their romance was a bit of a boil. Rose barely knows this Kanaya, which throws her through a loop given they’re narried married in this timeline. The whole thing is rather surreal for both of them.

Ironically, the troll Rose spends most of her time with is Gamzee. Gamzee insists on having “smart sister poke around in this thinkpan of mine”. While Rose enjoys psycho analyzing him, that’s not what he’s there for. In truth, he’s planting thoughts into her head psionically. Making her side with the King more. He knows she’s the weak link in the human’s loyalty, so he’s going to keep her on lock.

Conversely, Jade spends most of her time with Tavros. They bond over a shared love of animals and over their timelines getting screwed for actions well outside their control. It helps that Tav is still nursing his crush on her. She’s lucky Gamzee hasn’t noticed.

To the King, the humans are among him most effective enforcers. If only their friends could see them now…

Heroines of WOCtober: Rose Wilson

On one of his missions Slade Wilson, better known as Deathstroke the Terminator, Wolrd’s Deadliest Assassin, had to escort a Hmong princess Lilian Worth from Cambodia and along the way he slept with her. Because of course he did. The result of this affair was a girl named Rose. She possesses a precognition ability that allows her to see glimpses of a near future. It is theorized to be a result of her brain being alerted due to her father’s modified super-soldier DNA, allowing it to constantly observe all variables around her and predict what is going to happen.

Slade at first wanted to keep her from his life, going as far as sending her to Teen Titans so they can protect her from him and his enemies. At some point (read, when new writers took over) he changed his name and manipulated her into becoming his apprentice as new Ravager. In fact, he drove her to a point she gouged her own eye to be more like him....and then Slade decided to use her eyesocket as a Kryptonite storage without telling her it causes cancer. Father of the year /sarcasm.

Rescued from Slade’s clutches by Nightwing, Rose would join Teen Titans but her relationship with the team would be wonky. The fact her father is a good candidate to “Officially Bigger Piece of Shit Than the Joker” title doesn’t help. Rose might have been tiptoeing the line between hero, anti-hero and villain depending on the writer, but what she really wants is people who could accept her and for her father to love her. Sadly she got an old man whose idea of showing he cares is to put an anonymous hit on her so he can show up and save her life. I’m not even joking.

NOTE: In recommended reading I will not be putting New 52 books. Not only because they whitewashed her but also because said New 52 books just plain sucked.

Chapter 1: The “Angel Plague”

Summary: Inspired by a real life fungus, I present to you the “angel plague”, (a very unofficial name, taken from the shape of the mushrooms). Miles is even infected by this fungus when he’s at school (probably not in the way you’re thinking of). He is rescued by the mysterious young woman from Chapter 0–but her identity is no longer a mystery in this chapter... well, only partially.

“Alright, this is the spot, into the water,” Rose cheers, “way to go everyone! The green flag is not more than 300 meters away in the mangroves, we’re almost there, stay safe!” “Oh, great... gosh you’re loud.” Tyler roles his eyes as the team holds on to the float they built whilst waist deep in water. Tinaye sighs and gives him a pat on the shoulder, “C’mon, let’s tie our float down.” “Last check, we have enough fresh water, handy tools...” Elly checks with everyone, “and we’re right on time; yup, we’re all set.”

Miles cannot really pay much mind to the group assignment, he cannot stop thinking about the cancerous plane, and the mysterious young woman who fueled it.

“Watch out for crabs and alike, just a heads up.” Rose calls out to everyone, poking a stick at the path ahead. “Are we there yet?” Tyler impatiently follows her footsteps. “We have enough time before the tides rise, what’s even the rush dude?” Remarks Adele. Before Tyler can make an annoyed grunt a shadow dashes over their heads, closely followed by Miles’s yelp. “*gasps* Miles!” Rose stops. “Woah are you ok?” Ryan quickly rushes to his aid. Barnacles, of course. “That was stupid, I got startled.” Miles shakes his head. Just as he says this some bird noises sound from above. “Ooh, the pied imperial pigeon agrees with you.” Nick winks. “Cut it out!” Miles snickers. “Sit down on this plank for us Miles,” Tinaye pulls out a wooden plank from his pack and lays it down onto sturdy ground. “We’ll just check your leg,” Ryan calmly gets to work, “Nick, would you take a step back? And watch your step please.” “K I’ll let you two do your thing, take care of my boy!” Nick swiftly backs away. “You’re lucky it’s just a small bruise,” Ryan sighs, “but this will still cost you some points on this assignment, be careful.” “Thanks, I know I need to pay more attention.” Miles agrees. “Ha, looks like the nerd is not always perfect! Now he’s slowing us down!” Tyler boos at Miles. “Hey!” Nick crosses his arms. “Tyler!” Ryan retaliates, “we’ve still got work to do, so the next thing coming outta your mouth better be useful! I’m being serious!” “Pff, fine!” Tyler throws his arms up in defeat.

After that is more wading through the mangrove growth, keeping hydrated and in the end climbing a tree to fetch their flag.

“Is this it for today?” Adele asks. “Yes, we’ll carry on further tomorrow.” Elly confirms. “Wow it’s so easy working with you guys, my last team sucked so hard.” Adele comments. “Haha, we liked you too girl!” Rose smiles. “That’s nice to hear, well I’m going offline.” Adele tells the team. “Catch you tomorrow!” Nick waves to her, “so what about the rest of you? Shall we all log off?” “Finally!” An answer from Tyler. “Sheesh, Ty...” Nick frowns.

After taking off their VR equipment (i.e. everything they experienced was simulated for the assignment, including Miles’s bruise) and exiting the group projects hall, Nick sprints up to Miles.

Miles is now thinking hard about his bday dreams, mindlessly walking forwards. “Hey Miles, what’s up?” Nick nudges Miles with his elbow. “Huh?” Miles jumps a little. “Tell me! What’s on your mind?” Nick presses, “is it your bday dream?” “Yeah, it’s nothing major, do you really want to hear it again?” Miles laughs. “I’ve known you for more than 10 years, I am positive I know everything about you, like how I can just tell something’s different with this last dream!” Nick is very confident. He’s right, but for one Nick never knows about all this “magic” stuff, however that must remain secret for safety reasons, Miles thinks. Only Nick’s constant begging does make Miles tell him about a little of what happened, “... just like that, she woke up, stood up, and before I could react disappeared along with the whole place. I barely got out before all is gone myself.” “Dude, what?” Asks Nick, “that was your dream?!!” Well, it was not exactly a dream, part of it was very real, Miles thinks to himself but decides to go along with it, “yeah, just a regular dream...” “You’ve got to write this down! Like as a novel or something, your dream is crazy stuff! Good stuff!” Nick says with excitement. “That’d be nice, but I don’t want to forget everything else and type away nonstop like a lab monkey all day,” Miles can’t help but think of his writer dad, “guess it’s not my lifestyle.” “Pshh whatevs,” shrugs Nick, “you coming to the cafeteria today?” “Nah, I’ll be in the lounge as usual, I really need some rest.” Miles replies. “Well ok, don’t let those dreams get carried away.” Nick teases him. “I won’t!” Miles says as they go their separate ways.

A few students are napping in the lounge already. Miles finds an empty spot and climbs in for a nap, he gets tired and needs sleep too often, much to his annoyance.

As soon as he’s asleep, Miles exits his body as he usually does—the best way for his physical body to unconsciously recharge when at the same time his consciousness has the freedom to carry out other tasks. With his consciousness out of his body, Miles brings questions about his bday dreams and the young woman to his mentor. While he’s getting the answers universes away, a sense of something being out of ordinary brings him to promptly return to the school lounge. Miles watches as a battered shadow person tries to take over his currently vacant body, one of their hands grabbing onto his ankle. “No, you can’t do that,” he says to them. The being turns to look at his out-of-body consciousness with surprise. “You’re not even supposed to be getting onto this plane of existence, you need to go back to your plane.” Miles tells them as he pulls them away from his body, “people will freak out when they see you, let’s get you back home.” The mention of “home” seems to freak the shadow being out, but before they could retaliate Miles is already on their plane with them. “There you go,” Miles drops them off. The shadow person gets into fetal position the second Miles removed his hand from them. “Huh, ok?” Miles is a little confused at this, “you take care of yourself.” Then he leaves and gets back to his body, not thinking much about the glittery dusts floating around that plane.

Waking up, Miles readies himself for his last personal assignment before midterms, which he planned to complete this afternoon. Unexpectedly, Miles started feeling quite sick before he puts his VR equipment on. “You good Miles?” Nick is right next to him preparing for his assignment. “I don’t know,” weirdly, Miles feels more tired after his nap, “maybe I didn’t rest well this time somehow?” “You look ill, and you’re never ill, *snickers* my mom jokes that germs and stuff burn off before reaching you.” Nick says, “my point being you should take this afternoon off and rest at home, if you still feel ill then go to your doctor. I mean, you are in no condition to nail your last assignment anyway.” “You’re right Nick, guess this is all for me today,” Miles smiles, “good luck.” “Thanks, get well soon!” Nick says as he puts on his headset.

“Afternoon son!” Max calls out from his study. “Hey dad,” Miles slams into bed as soon as he enters his room. He is ready to sleep it all off, however, a little too late for his liking he senses a intruder who’s blended in with the room almost perfectly. Not knowing who’d be there, Miles jolts up and throws an attack at the intruder, only to witness his attack pass straight through her like she’s not really there. “... You?” Miles realizes it is the mysterious young woman again, but before he could ask why she’s here, he’s already suspended in midair. Max doesn’t hear all this commotion as there’s a “bubble of silence” around the room. She then proceeds to pull something white and shining out of Miles’s body, which quickly withers and turns to dust, and afterwards drops him to the floor. “Before you sensed my presence I was going to wait till you’re asleep, as silly as it sounds now as I learnt you’ll discover me anyways;” she explains, “you were infected by a fungus that latches onto one’s consciousness in order to drain one’s life energy to produce it’s spores.” “What?” Miles cries. “Apologies if I frightened you, as I’m only here to help, I’ll be on my way as I have work to do.” She turns to leave. “How was I infected? Wait!” Miles asks. “You were in contact with its spores when you ventured to an infected dimension, the dimension I plan on taking out altogether before the fungus crosses over and grows all over this universe.” She explains in a hurry. “You can’t take out a plane like that,” Miles tells her, “some creatures might need those places to reside at the very least.” “A plane?” She raises an eyebrow. “You call them dimensions, I think,” Miles then suggests, “wouldn’t removing just the fungus be a better option? I’ll help with that.” “Yes, you’re not wrong,” she accepts the suggestion, “this will take longer than my original plan but it’ll do.” She rushes off, ignoring Miles’s offer to help. Well, feeling much better now, Miles decides to follow her and check on things; but how to repel the spores if they infect one’s consciousness? That’s when Miles hatches an idea.

Miles goes out of body again, but this time, using the Junction, Miles sends only his physical body onto the young woman’s trail, to the other plane with the glittery dusts he’s just visited not long ago, his consciousness doesn’t go with it and stays at this plane right in his room.

She’s already busy pulling the fungus off of suffering creatures, and gathering spores from bursting fungus growths, meanwhile making sure no creature is sneaking off to another plane with this ongoing infestation. “This dimension is dangerous for you...” she says, then suddenly pauses, “you sent your physical vessel?” Hearing this question from afar, Miles controls his body to give her a nod with its head. “That’s pretty creative,” she continues drawing all parts of the fungus away from any present consciousness. Guessing what she should be up to, Miles controls his body to make a sphere of fire, meanwhile keeping tabs on the whole plane from the outside himself to make sure nothing exits. She sees the sphere and uses it burn the parts she gathered, very soon the plane is clear of this fungus.

“All done!” She calls out and extinguishes the flaming sphere, “you should have seen this—the growing fungus looks like some messed up angel wings.” Upon hearing her call, Miles quickly gets there, back into his body, “Great job, the problem’s solved.” “Yes, great job to us.” She smiles, “hello Miles.” “Hello Ray,” Miles greets her back. “Funny how we’re now introduced to each other again,” Ray says. “Yeah, considering the fact we’ve met not long before on a cancerous plane, and not to mention in a previous life too.” Miles adds. “You know about your reincarnation.” Ray is surprised to hear what Miles said. “I asked my mentor when I napped today,” Miles says, “well, I asked why I kept having the same dream with you in it every time on my birthday up until we met in person and how I think I know you, I guess I didn’t think too much about that before.” “Your mentor?” Ray wonders. “Atlas.” Miles replies. “Oh,” Ray pauses for a while, “How much do you remember?” Ray asks then changes the subject, “and thank you for waking me up back when we met face to face.” “No problem.” Miles then answers, “I know we were friendly with each other because you wanted to help me, I know you are a very powerful energy folder as Atlas had told me so; but I can probe further, your highness...” Miles probes on, “Crown Princess Ray of... hold on...” his mind blurs out of nowhere. The cause of that was Ray’s interference. “I’m sorry,” Ray turns away. “That’s ok, I don’t really have to know.” Miles shrugs it off, but she’s disappeared away to somewhere else by then. Miles sighs, lowering his head... and sees the same shadow person grabbing onto his ankle, again. “You seem to be doing ok,” Miles looks at them. After staring at each other for a while, the shadow being lets go without incident.

“So how did school go? I assume you finished early today?” Max asks his son at the dinner table. “Well, I didn’t finish my personal assignment yet, I guess I was a little too tired.” Miles digs in to the simple but nutritious meal, “that’s not a issue though, I’ll be fine.” “I’m not too worried there son, we have 2 more days before Orientation Day, I’m sure you’ll manage just fine.” Yup, Miles assures himself, finishing up this assignment is surely easier than almost dying from then having to dispel some angle-wing-shaped-fungus plague.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

March 26th, the 6th day of Thelemic Holy Season has pathworking, study and meditations on the Thoth tarot Atu XV - ‘The Devil’ which corresponds to the path of A'ayin that connects Hod to Tiphareth. Todays reading is Liber A'ash.

The Devil represents incarnation and the word made flesh, the clothing that spirit takes on in order to descend into the world of form. It is the 26th path from Tiphareth to Hod. Tiphareth is the solar centre of the Tree of Life and represents Christ Consciousness. It is the opposite to the Death Card which we met earlier which connects Tiphareth to Netzach. In Hod, which is ruled by Mercury, we have the first Sepiroth which has a definite sense of FORM compared to the relative formlessness of the previous sephira. Hod is concerned with abstract ideas and as soon as mental images are present (such as in visualisation exercises) we have separation of the creation into parts.

Hod, being ruled by Mercury, is also associated with the WORD or Logos, the masculine energy or archetypal constructor of the Universe as we met in the Magus.

Thus we have the connection of this card to the material world.

Hod is also the sephira of ceremonial magic and in this way the Thoth Devil Tarot Card is similar to the Magus in that it is concerned with the ability to manifest things.

Crowley is keen to point out that there is no universal sense of morality. Nature has no morality and morality is not cut and dry but is cultural. Man is keen to make morality a cut and dry thing.

The Devil is the Devil because he does not take sway of human morality. His nature is just to revel in the process of creation and materialism, whatever form that may take.

Society wants people to be cut and dry, fitting into neat little boxes. Religion is the same and does not want people to have access to their own salvation. Jesus definitely wanted people to have their own salvation.The astrological association is another key to the understanding of this card.

The Thoth Devil Tarot Card is associated with the sign of CAPRICORN.

Capricorn is the sign of business, career, worldly success and social standing. Capricorns are usually hard workers and high achievers. Like the mountain goat they are constantly climbing.

Saturn rules Capricorn and Mars is exalted in Capricorn. Mars governs our Sex Drive and creative energy hence this card has a very strong link to the material side of life and self ambition. Saturn is also the planet of boundaries and limitations, time, and the cycles of life and death. In the Tarot Major Arcana , Saturn is associated with both the World and the Devil and in their lowest reflection they represent earthly existence with awareness firmly rooted in the associated pleasures and pains that it brings. Being chained to the creation we are therefore ruled by Karma.

Capricorn is also opposite Cancer on the zodiac wheel. In Capricorn we have the winter solstice and in Cancer we have the summer solstice. In Capricorn the days also start to become longer and the sun is reborn. This is borne out in the resurrection of Christ.

Hebrew Association: Related to the letter Ayin meaning ‘EYE’. The third eye can be seen in the image of The Devil.

The Thoth Devil Tarot Card represents ‘tunnel vision’ , he is one pointed in his attention and usually this is some sort of material goal although not always. It can relate to career,ambition and the fighting for and defending oneself and looking out for ones own best interests, so this is certainly not always a negative card to receive in a reading.

It implies that we can accomplish much if we are focused in our minds.

The Devil is not distracted by other things and possibilities, he is very much focused on his task in hand.

I’ve been scrolling through my current Works in Progress, to see what I might be able to share with you.

Ferals is a new series that only came into being around April. It came about like many of my story ideas – while I was doing something else! I was knee-deep in an amazing book and a word triggered off a thought. I stopped, wrote down that thought and that led to a page of notes. Then, that night before bed that one page of notes grew into 2 pages and, before I knew it, I had a book planned out. And the ideas for a few more in the same world.

Book 1: Make Me Wait

During a routine search for a missing boy, about to reach a critical stage of his magical development, Vesper is stunned to discover the scent of his mate. Something he’s been born to recognise. But finding the scent and claiming his mate are two different things. Especially when his mate proves to be everything he’s ever wanted – a hot geek with glasses and an attitude, who bakes pastries.

When you’re a witch, attached to a cluster of red widows, it’s best to be careful what you wish for. Because your dreams just might bite back.

Chapter 1

Monday

“Can you sense him?”

Vesper turned to eye Snow with contempt. He hated when he did that, second guessing everything and doubting his abilities. He didn’t bother arguing, though; they all understood why he had to be sure. There was no room for mistakes.

With a sigh, he bent as though to tie a shoelace and called on his familiar, drawing his magic to the surface. He extended a hand to the ground and watched a small bump form on his wrist, emerging from his veins and struggling against the boundary of his flesh. With a quick pierce from its venomous fangs, and a tug of sharp nails to peel back the skin, a spindly leg emerged into the daylight. One by one, long red legs emerged, followed by the bulbous back-end of the red widow spider. Once fully emerged, she turned, as though to look his way.

“Go find him,” he whispered, watching the creature scurry across his palm to the ground. Three more followed and, within a moment, another twelve escaped the small cut and scuttled after their leader.

They already knew the scent to look for, but it would take them a while to find their target. They couldn’t pinpoint his exact location, as it would take took long for them to travel the campus and evade the stomping feet of the students. All they needed to do was trail the scent and make sure he really was on campus, as Vesper thought.

It was risky. If they had come all this way only to find that he wasn’t actually on campus, Vesper would murder someone. Probably for real, this time.

Thankfully, the boys were patient and aware of the problems of his nature. Being a Feral was one thing, but he was one of the few who had such a small animal as his familiar. People were always underestimating his cluster; thinking them too small, too slow, and their senses dulled so they were useless as familiars.

Vesper could have shown them otherwise, if anyone had bothered to stick around to care. But he’d learned a long time ago that the only humans he could count on were those at his back. The family they’d created from the lost and abandoned and unwanted.

A tingle in his veins told him what he needed to know. “He’s here,” Vesper announced quietly, relieved as he rose to his feet and took a breath to steady himself. He didn’t have a name or a face, just a scent. But it was enough to tell him that his mate was here, in this college campus…somewhere.

“Good.” Raven nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder, the most contact he allowed, even within their group of faux-family. “Then let’s collect our class schedules and settle in. We can start searching for him tonight. Let the girls roam and see if they can find his most travelled path. We can pick them up later,” he said, full of that simple, casual logic that always accompanied the stoic, unblinking intellect that let him make the hard decisions without blinking an eye.

There was a reason he was the leader of their group, after all. The one in charge of the Hunters who roamed the magical community, seeking those who wandered off the path.

Vesper agreed only because the girls were well trained. The females didn’t normally scout, but they were twice the size of the males and he trusted them to be able to protect themselves, with their superior venom. They should be able to avoid that, though. A red widow bite would get them too much attention from the authorities; there was no way to explain how they’d found their way to the chilly British climes, when their natural habitat were the sand dunes of Florida.

The more he kept them safe and out of view, the better it was for everyone.

“Come on,” Snow wrapped an arm around his neck and drew him closer, ignoring the way Raven withdrew his hand before they could make contact. “We’ll go back to the house and have a few beers. That’ll cheer you up,” he encouraged, always the carefree, fun-loving one of the group.

It was going to get him in trouble, one day.

“That’ll get you a broken nose,” Vesper warned, shrugging him off, though he followed Raven on the path towards their new home. “You know damned well that HE isn’t the only reason we’re here. He’s just a byproduct of our job. A lucky coincidence,” he reminded him, in case he was really stupid enough to have forgotten that.

They were on this campus for a reason. One that didn’t centre on finding his mate, even if he’d been lucky enough to scent the guy on their last scouting mission.

They were here to do their job as Hunters. To do what came naturally to them, as outsiders and the unwanted of the magical community. To remain in the shadows and make life easier on the Elders who ran things.

Vesper’s mate came second to all of that.
