happy holidays!! I would love to hear about the magical girl outfits of the affinity cast if you'd like to talk about any of their designs !

HI!!! happy holidays!! sorry im getting to this so late, i had to actually get colored examples of all the kids in their magical outfits LOL (HOWEVER everett will not be included in this list simply because he does not yet have a finished character sheet AND i need to redesign his magical outfit)

so, we'll start with our leader and protagonist, Sinie!

her color is white. i dont see very many "white" themed leaders in mg genres, so i wanted her to be represented by the color of innocence and purity because that is what sinie represents. she's definitely my usagi, my steven, my luz.

for her design, i wanted something simple yet fluffy to show her childish nature. i have thought about powerup versions of their outfits, but im not sure how to incorporate it yet so i havent even began to think about their designs haha

next we have agitha! her outfit actually resembles pajamas, her dress is like a victorian nightgown and shes got the little shawl to go with it. everything is so soft anf pastel it just feels like a comfy outfit. this wasnt intentional, but i think it fits with her powers since her magic is centered around dreams.

she's the purple magical girl! though, its a little more pastel than what we usually see i think.

csilla is blue!! i adjusted some of her colors from the first colored design i had. it felt a little too plain being all one color haha. but she sort of looks like a knight and, again it wasnt intentional, but if im thinking about it she rly is the knight sort of character. she fights to protect her friends and herself, but she also is righteous and is a good strategist.

so daren was OBVIOUSLY red in my mind because hes the tank, the muscle, and also another good strategist. his fighting style is more hands on since he uses his fists and legs and so i thought fire would fit to be his power. i have a lot of cool ideas for his fighting style i just rly need to study shounen manga to get them down hahaha

i wanted their design to be androgynous while still being magical girl esque, so i gave him the tall heeled boots however still keeping a sort of sleek, form fitting silhouette. added some more traditionally feminine aspects of clothing like the puffed sleeves, however put in some classic masculine elements such as the tailcoat and pants. im very proud of his design!

elise is pink! of course!! (sinie is jealous) she has the power to purify dark energy. very classic magical girl!

i wanted her design to be big and poofy and girly. but also with the boob window because.....idk its cute lolol

and lastly heather!! i didnt have it in me to do her character sheet atm but i rly wanted to answer this 😩😩 but luckily i had a colored example of her magical outfit!

she is green! very fitting for the pretty, elegant, smart heather. i wanted her design to be faithful to her faith, but still have the feminine magical girl aesthetic! i think she looks very pretty hehe

You’re very very right about the lack of diversity in character design, esp thinking about it in regards to CR3. Like Laudna is clearly meant to be a lot more willowy and uncanny looking than she’s shown in the character art. & the many many issues w/ Ashton’s design aside [I just,,Don’t like his design much. There was potential buts it’s just. Eh., it’s weak], it makes like zero sense for him to look the way he does being a barbarian!! Not that he has to be huge & all by any means, but he does not read barbarian aside from his big ol hammer :p

(trigger warning for talking about weight and body size/type in regards to character designs. also disclaimer that this is just talking about designs for fun, its /lh and just my musings)

i honestly quite like laudna's design overall, i think its hard to tell though, how thin she is, since she's very covered up. i actually really love her face and how her teeth dont quite fit in her mouth, which is something common with very underweight people, and i like her big dark eyes. ... i find her hard to draw quite right tho. and i think (no offense /g) in the fandom is really where people smooth her out, take away any wrinkle, and just make her kind of pretty and soft... like, no, i want her skin to be translucent. show me the veins in her eyelids!!!!

yea. . ashton's design is rly not my favourite. i redesigned him, which, i no longer rly like that drawing, mostly because of how i drew their hair. recently i've been trying to figure out how to draw the crystals even tho the idea makes my skin crawl a little lol. the main problem i have with their design is the colours - their clothes are similar values, a dark grey and a Bright red, and it just clashes with the purple and specific green of their skin .. in this last drawing of ashton i posted i think it's sorta better while still keeping the same colours, so theres that - also i think darker colours fits his character more, down in the shadowy alleys and bars of jrusar. also yea, not a fan of how totally shredded and sinewy he is, he needs to hydrate lol

my least favourite of the cr3 designs is between them and imogen though..i redesigned imogen recently and that was so much fun. i just think , her canon design doesn't suit her at all.. it's just a bit nothing-y, like a generic tomb-raiding (yikes) video game protagonist. and i think a hat suits her super well, since as well as mind-reading she has migraines and prefers to go unseen, so, she shades herself from the sun and staring with the hat.. also i just covered her up more so she wouldn't get sunburnt kajndks, its all light materials.. im just worried about her skin. also thought something a little more,, idk androgynous (??) practical (??) might be cool. like, she's got her waist-coast and her hat and bandana round her neck.. so turned her from sexy tomb-raider halloween costume to a cowboy, like her backstory is clearly inspired by :-] !! idk thats a ramble, i should catch up on cr3 i love imogen v much she has so much autism swag and she's so cool 2 me

not to be in depth or something but i was thinking as i drew it that like. It rly goes to show how comfortable ive gotten w myself that more of my s/i designs are feminine. Back when i was post coming out but pre 2020 i always forced myself to make masculine s/is bc idk i wanted to be a Man. But the designs never clicked with me, so I'd never use them. Lila was the exception, cause I'd made her when i did identify as a girl when i was like 11

and since then I've just. Learned that I like drawing more " feminine " designs. And that even tho im a guy, I like exploring designs that are not inherently masculine or androgynous or anything. I dont even always strictly use my personal pronouns

Idk this is a ramble but basically im glad ppl like moogie's new design, because the old one was a case of "forcing a less feminine look" and i didnt click with it..now i think i click w the new one

have to write some oc things bc 1) idk if i ever mentioned those details and 2) im RLY scared of forgetting them? I feel like i have forgotten so much already.

- Sun’s voice is... Absolutely horrible, if one were to hear it on a planet with atmosphere. In space, he has a loud, booming, but monotone voice. And it’s fine to listen to. But on planets with atmosphere, it’s essentially the hearing equivalent of staring into the sun. You hear what he says- but only vaguely, because the pain it brings you to listen is unbearable; and with long enough exposure, can damage your hearing greatly. To describe it i’d say that your can hear what he says along with an extremely loud, high pitched and otherwordly scream. Good thing Sun only stays in space and no one got their hearing damaged because of him.

- Quibris and Cedra are the gods of life and death of Futh, and have watched over the planet for milleniums. But only a few milleniums- they’re relatively ‘young’ by their species’ standards. Yes, species as there’s others like those two, that watch over other planets. They tend to be completely different from one another, simply with gods of life tending to have certain parts of their bodies composed of light, and gods of death to have bioluminescent lights that pulse as they use their power (in Cedra’s case it’s the red and yellow stripes! They move like comb jellyfish lights). Quibris and Cedra’s ‘closest’ neighbours (a few solar systems away from them) are two annoying guys who watch over a flat planet. They’re newbies and ‘only’ at an early stage of life on their planet, but they tend to think they’re better than Quibris and Cedra. As for what creates gods of life and death... Well it doesn’t have a name, and isn’t *really* a character- because that would imply that it thinks. It doesn’t. It creates. That’s all it can do. It creates gods of life and death, and repeats the process ad-infinitum. Said process takes milleniums. As for what it looks like... imagine a ball of (somewhat human but not entirely- for example it has 6 fingers) arms- with rainbow veins. And at each fingertip, there’s another, smaller arm. Repeat the process until you get an incomprehensible entity, whose initial arms are as big as a galaxy, and the almost infinite amount of fingers makes it even more incomprehensibly big. In general Quibris and Cedra don’t like talking about it- not only because there’s nothing to say, but it’s also kind of like talking about the time when you were in the womb. You don’t remember any of it. And maybe that’s for the better, because if your senses were fully developped at that time, the experience might have been... Strange, to say the least.

- Quibris and Cedra can choose to be seen or heard by people on Futh- to be seen they just have to lean closer into the atmosphere, and to be heard, they just have to speak on top of their ‘lungs’ (they don’t have any). To be seen is vaguely annoying, because since Futh is round, not everyone sees the one that wants to be seen- and it tends to be beyond terrifying to most Futh people, even ones devoted to Quibris and/or Cedra’s religions. After all they ARE bigger than the planet, and let’s be real here, if you saw anyone’s face in the sky- even if you knew it could happen- you’d be terrified. I would. And to be heard is even more annoying- because actually the whole planet hears it. So sometimes if there’s a war starting in a country, Quibris will say ‘STOP.’. People in said country will probably understand and obey the godly command, but everyone is terrified and vaguely confused. Stop what?? Walking? Feeding my child?! It’s not uncommon to have individuals freak out at Quibris or Cedra’s godly commands. One unfortunate incident in the early days of civilization on Futh was Quibris, only to have Cedra say ‘maybe don’t do that- oh wait’, not realizing he spoke loud enough for the whole planet to hear. It massively screwed up the emerging religion, who was initially accurate- with Quibris creating life and Cedra destroying it; but this changed into making Cedra the ‘maybe don’t do that’ entity, who would be virtually useless outside of giving advice to Quibris. It was fixed a few decades later, with Cedra not being amused anymore by the misconception, and creating canyons around every civilization to make them understand that he wasn’t to be messed with. By the way, Cedra generally destroys using the very tip of his claws. He has to, otherwise there’s the risk of damaging Futh itself. Damage as in ‘break a tectonic plate’ type of bad. And final notes are that i don’t have voice claims for either of them, but Quibris has an androgynous, echoing soft voice that... directly speaks into your mind, because they have no mouth. Cedra has a somewhat gravely, snarky male voice. He doesn’t actually have any vocal cords (and neither does Quibris), and he moves his mouth when talking because he feels that facial expression(s) is just as important as words are.

- I mentioned this but only in the tags if an unrelated picture- but Monas is pretty young by Futh god standards- at only 200 years old. He lived in the industrial era as nurse merman. He chose himself his god name- Monas, because of his belief that, as the god of pain, he’s the most important god (outside of Quibris/Cedra of course). He has a strange complex- he has this belief, all the while being very selfless out of the goodness of his heart. That’s because he is TOLD by those he saves, especially from death, that he’s the most important god- so he believes it, and it annoyingly inflates his ego while making him even more genuinely devoted/selfless and willing to save people. It’s a paradox i have trouble explaining ngl- but even Monas in-universe is vaguely aware of that. And doesn’t do anything about it- he’s too busy feeling guilty over all the people he doesn’t save, out of fear they’re bad people that don’t and won’t change.

- Fruitbugs sort of have ‘nationalities’, but it’s all... Very complicated. Not only because our world in THEIR universe is fictional, but also because... It’s just usually weird! The best examples i can think of on top of my head is Olive- who has literally white skin, but is actually from the south-east of France, and would have dark skin if he had realistic skin. and Lemon, who’s also has a south french parent as well as an american one- but keep in mind said parents don’t actually exist, because video game characters don’t get born. So Lemon is both south french and american, and lives in the fruitbug equivalent of america (i think i’ll go the stupid verlan way and just call it Ricamer (if you dont know what verlan is dont. Look. It up. It’s the stupidest thing ever and i use it daily while speaking french). As for what state he’s in... No idea. I’ve been to like 4 states and none fits Lemon’s level design. It’s like a city but oddly 50s or even 20s looking everywhere, except for two modern skyscrapers facing each other- one is small but mostly an underground sewer (Lemon’s) and the other is a very tall skyscraper that have windows that look spider-webish (Grape Coco’s).

What color are your eyes? blue (with these little flecks of gold right around the irises, you can only see them if you look real close)

Do you wear glasses? I have glasses, don’t necessarily wear them all the time

Do you wear braces? I used to, but I developed root resorption and had to get them off early (spring of 2017) so now none of my teeth toouch except for in the very back :( makes it really hard to eat samiches (yes that’s how I like to spell sandwiches fight me)

What’s your fashion sense? so I don’t count most days as my fashion sense bc I wear athleisure ish allllllll the time out of laziness, but when I do make an effort I have two ends of things bc I’m androgynous. so on a day when I’m feeling more masculine you’re gonna see me in a sporty-type-look (spandex, just barely sagging joggers, a graphic tee, my gold chain and jordans, I usually pull my hair into a ponytail and lay my edges), but on a day when I feel more feminine you’re gonna see me in some tried-and-true type of clothes (cute shirt, leggings, heels, jewelry, makeup did, hair down and [hopefully] acting right), but on a day when I’m feeling in-between I’ll try to experiment or be “edgy” (basically mixing and matching or trying something I saw a celebrity do and thought was cute). regardless of any style I’m in, though, you’re always gonna see me with my nails done, whether that means I got acrylics on or that I painted them myself... just know. that’s how we do. and by we I mean me.

Do you have regrets? boy oh boy, do I: taking so long to forgive my abuser (thx for destroying my childhood @ my biological father), procrastinating, not having enough self-love/worth/confidence, being complacent with so many of the friends I used to have, focusing so much on socializing in hs rather than my sports and my schoolwork, being so afraid to just be myself bc I knew most people don’t want to be friends with a weirdo, the list goes on, all I can do now is move past it though so... ohwell.

Dream job? oh SIS get ready for this: sooo I want to own my own business, known as LEAD Revitalization (L for Love, E for Equity, A for Advocacy, D for Diplomacy - these are the core values of my business), which aims to help revitalize underdeveloped and underserved ethnic communities in the US and around the world and fight against gentrification through implementing art of all mediums in or near historic locations in that community that is representative of the demographic living there (so if the area is a primarily black neighborhood, you’re gonna see art depicting black history and culture, and if the area is primarily Asian you’d see Asian history and culture). I won’t get too into it just bc that would make this post way too long, but if anyone’s interested or wants to hear more you can bml ;) like literally bc I’m passionate af about it so I will talk your head off for days on end if given the chance

Would you ever like to be married? yes

Would you like kids? yes

How many? two or three of my own (I’m hoping for a girl and a boy) just so I can have the experience of having kids, but once they’re grown and out of the house I would like to adopt more if I have the resources to. my cousin’s adopted, so like, idk. I think that if you can adopt a kid, you should, bc there’s so many of them just stuck in the foster system and that’s complete bs

Do you like shopping? yes but I usually don’t like getting myself things (unless if we’re talking groceries or something I actually need), I love to buy things for other ppl tho if I can

What countries have you visited? canada for like 3 days technically, I just went to Mt. Whistler for spring snowboarding (that shit hurted) with my aunt bc she paid for the whole thing and my passport

Scariest nightmare you have ever had? TRIGGER WARNING: DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE - I had a nightmare awhile ago that this guy I used to be involved with raped me, I also used to have recurring nightmares after I stopped going to my biological father’s house for visitation where he would come searching for me trying to kill me and my older brother (he’s tried to kill me 3+ times sooo... it makes sense). so like. fun.

I’m currently fwb with my ex and still have feelings for him (oopsies), we split bc he was going through shit and needed to figure himself out, I’ve been close to him for a phat minute so I’m not really trippin about it. Do you believe in miracles? lmao I would fuckin hope so, the very fact that I’m alive rn is a gd miracle so yea

How are you? I am so-so. If we’re just talking about today, I’m prolly fine, but if we’re talking long term, I’ve been going through it. I’m just trying to figure myself out atm, and it’s rough, but I’ll probably get there. My friends think I will, at least.
