The four Sages were called back into the past by Terrako and they remember it happening
Tulin got to meet his hero, Revali, and decided to be just like him, adopting his idol’s brash personality and drive. He practises Revali’s Gale and eventually comes up with his own way to show off his mastery of wind, and when trouble hits his home he rushes to fix it on his own to prove how strong he has become and because, like Revali, he can’t stand idly by while he knows there’s still things he can do.
For Yunobo, when he goes back and meets his ancestor Daruk, he is a very timid and reactive Goron. He needs a push from others to come up with ideas and carry plans through, and when bad things happen to him his first instinct is to use his fire magic as a shield, to wait until the threat has passed by or somebody else has come to save him. But when he is sent back in time to Divine Beast vah Rudania, for the first time he has to be the one doing the saving. Daruk encourages Yunobo and is proud of him from the moment they meet, and it’s this support that gives Yunobo the confidence to help fight against Calamity Ganon, and to start YunoboCo when he gets home.
For Sidon, meeting his family from 100 years ago is bittersweet. He is proud that he was able to protect his sister, and it’s a comfort to know there is a version of him who will grow up alongside Mipha because of his bravery and fighting prowess. But as much joy as he got from seeing her, hugging her, and hearing her voice again, it just reminds him of how unfair her death was, of just how young she was when she died and how he is now older even though he’s the younger sibling. And at the end of the war, when he’s returned to their original time, he has to readjust to her absence all over again, and in light of that is it really a shock he’d have her statue moved further away from his home? And it also explains why he’s so desperate to protect Yona from the sludge.
Riju in AoC still a new ruler to her people, despite her accomplishments in BotW, she still feels guilty over the temporary loss of the Thunder Helm and isn’t sure if she can lead the Gerudo. She has a lot of confidence but is quick to falter when things go wrong. Urbosa treats Riju as a capable fighter despite her young age, and teaches her that she should never give up, to keep trying even when her resolve falters. There is always something you can do, even when it’s just stalling for time until help can arrive. Urbosa guides her in mastering the Thunderhelm, and possibly begins teaching her to summon lightning herself after Kohga attempts to steal it, and at the end of their time together Urbosa tells Riju she’s certain she’ll lead the Gerudo well. Riju treasured her time being mentored by Urbosa so much that she considers what Urbosa would do during the Upheaval in her diary in TotK.
I think the entire reason Tulin was added to the DLC was because the TotK team had already decided that Tulin was going to be the Sage of Wind, and that since the other sages were going to meet their Champions Tulin had to as well.
At some point in the years between Botw and TotK Teba, Tulin, Sidon, Yunobo, Riju and Patricia were summoned back in time by Terrako to aid the Champions during the Calamity, and even though those events took place in a parallel timeline and had no bearing on the world they returned to, the Sages’ personalities at the beginning of TotK are because of their experiences during the Calamity and the bonds they made with the Champions.
#totk#totk spoilers#botw#riju#yunobo#sidon#tulin#aoc zelda#age of calamity#bonus thought i cbb to make into it’s own post for all the tag reading girlies:#since the light dragon is canonically present during the calamity because zelda was sent back thousands of years..#technically the light dragon is present for both botw!calamity and the aoc!calamity#and there is now a timeline in which totk!ganondorf will emerge in a completely different way because of timeline shenanigans#and there are two zeldas except one of them is a dragon#my belief is that in the aoc!verse since you can play as calamity ganon a part of it survived and like. it’s main goal is to find a way#to excavate the cave it’s creator is in and like maybe it lures link and zelda down there or maybe nobody even notices until it’s too late#idk. because there weren’t two zeldas in the past the aoc!zelda can’t travel back in time so like. either her character development means#her secret stone manifests her light powers instead of her time powers or she never gets the secret stone idk#what’s important is that aoc’s version of totk in my head takes place a few years after the calamity and by the end of it the light dragon#turns back into zelda and suddenly there are two zelda’s who are practically twins and this alternate time-twisted botw!zelda gets to see#the champions and her father again at the cost of losing her link and her friends in the future and having no idea whether her original tim#line is safe or not. and link gets to doublewield the master swords or smth.#if we’re keeping the aoc-style gameplay rauru is one of the jokey-warriors like the great fairies were and it’s just his arm and like. mayb#a bit of his shoulder or something because it’s 100 years ago and there’s a bit more of him left

Hello. I have my thoughts on why Mario and Luigi wouldn't be traveling together for possible movieverse versions of Paper Mario and The Thousand-Year Door.
For Paper Mario, Luigi just happened to be mingling with guests out in the courtyard when Castle Koopa raised Mushroom Castle into the sky. Both brothers are beyond relieved when they meet up again upon Mario's return days later. But there's a general fear that Bowser-loyal mooks have been emboldened by Bowser's possession of the Star Rod and his actions with it, so Mario feels someone's gotta stay behind and protect Toad Town while he searches for the captive Star Spirits, and he trusts no one to this more than Luigi. Goombario bravely steps up to tell Luigi not to worry, because he's got Mario's back.
For TTYD, when the bros receive a letter from Peach eager to start a treasure hunt, complete with a supposed treasure map, Mario figures he could just run over quick to see what this is about and then call Luigi over if it turns out to be something big. By the time he realizes that, yes, this is something big, he tries to call Luigi over, but Luigi's already been roped into something else by some guy named Minister Crepe. Their respective adventures, however, do cross paths here and there, both even actively helping each other further their respective quests at times.
These are really good ideas 😌 Gives both the brothers equal respect, while also trying to stick to the storylines of the games.
I'm just trying to figure out how these different stories would play out in a cohesive narrative. Video games are much longer than movies, it would be difficult to tell both the brothers stories in the maximum length of time a movie of this genre can have...
I do like Luigi being a b plot in these movie adaptations - it's just how it can be implemented effectively without it being pointless filler.

Summary:
He just keeps… losing steam. Each time Silver resumes packing, he cannot help but think of Flint's expression, his voice the last time they were together–
As long as we’re joined, I know where you are. I know you won’t leave.
The encroaching guilt sends Silver rushing back to the welcoming haze of distractions and substances, drowning out the imminent panic that comes with acknowledging that that was the last time he will ever see Flint, touch him, taste him…
He'll leave eventually, he will, Silver reassures himself. He has plenty of time. Anyway, he hasn’t quite decided where to go yet, hasn’t booked his flight. LA is the safe bet–there are recent connections ready to be called upon. But it’s all too reminiscent of when he left before, running from Flint then too, and it turns his stomach. Though he’s not fleeing like a dog with his tail between his legs this time. No, he’s being responsible goddammit, it’s his decision, it’s for the best.
Well anyway, he should do some more research before just settling on LA as a fallback, at least peruse the casting calls for the other cities again. It’s never a bad idea to take a little time with it. It’s his life after all, his future. Such as it is, he thinks bitterly.
But, deep down, he knows that's just him stalling again.
--
So here we are at The End, huh?
I thought I'd have more words to sign off with but I'm kind of flabbergasted and, well, I kinda left everything on the page? There are 138k words already present, lol. It's been a long Journey through the Inferno and I hope it satisfied.
Thank you immensely to all of my writing support squad--whether you made me tea, listened to me rant, helped me brainstorm endlessly, or did word surgery edits in the trenches. Many people helped make this story what it is, you all know who you are and I love you to pieces.
If you enjoyed this story, or you want to murder me for sport, please let me know! This has been a huge laborious project, a very long year of my life, and little treats in the form of comments will help buoy me through the post-story ennui.

''we shouldn't do this'' but they do so, anyway (for when they're still human and hiding from the king?)
a hundred different kisses // @stingslikeabee
Tumblr media
Guinevere dipped her fingers into the water of the bath to confirm that it was warm. Satisfied, she shooed the rest of the servants out of the Queen's chambers and bolted the door. There was no further need — particularly with what Guinevere suspected Lilian was hiding under that beautiful gown.
Once they were alone, the lady began to help Lilian undress. Her hands were so terribly careful ; at any change in the royal's breath, Guinevere paused to give her a moment. Piece by piece, the dress fell away to the floor of the washroom. The blonde allowed Lilian to steady herself before she removed the Queen's undergarments.
Guinevere cleared her throat and glanced down. Away from the mottled purple bruises across the royal's soft, unblemished skin. She had long suspected, before the Queen even welcomed her to help with her bathing, that the King treated his wife cruelly. To see it in person brought up a swell of anger in Guinevere. Her hands clutched at the front of her skirts, shaking faintly, until Lilian walked to the edge of the bath. After the Queen made herself comfortable in the soothing water, Guinevere moved again.
The lady - in - waiting fetched clean rags and a small bottle that contained a mixture of lard and fragrant oils. As Guinevere approached the tub, she was struck again by how mesmerizing her Queen was. She swallowed that down with a sense of bitterness. They would stone her alive if they knew what she thought when she looked at another woman's body. What teasing, fantastical figures danced in front of her eyes as she laid awake during the night. Clutching the bath items to her chest, Guinevere sat on the wooden stool beside the furniture.
"Your Majesty," the lady said softly, setting her things in her lap. The loose white gown she wore for sleeping spilled across the floor around her. "I need to move your hair, with your permission."
Lilian nodded and leaned forward. She was quiet in the beginning, as she usually was. Guinevere's trembling digits pushed the Queen's chestnut waves over one shoulder. They next dampened the rag she held with soap and water. Guinevere very carefully washed over Lilian's back. Her motions slowly eased the tension in the Queen's shoulders and unwound the horribly tight anxiety in the older woman's core.
Guinevere inevitably shifted and began to diligently wipe Lilian's upper arms. The lady's glittering emerald eyes traced the shape of the Queen's slender limb. Normally, Guinevere was much more diligent ; she never let her gaze linger inappropriately.
— but she was tired. The steam rising up from the bath was warm and made her feel drugged. Lulled into a false sense of security by the dim lighting and late hour, Guinevere forgot to maintain her decorum. Lilian, who had been watching closely, suddenly realized something. Why Guinevere always waited up for her ; why Lilian could seem to turn away all other help except for her lady's ; why the world became illuminated when Guinevere stepped into the room.
"Guinevere," Lilian murmured.
The blonde jumped. She chastised herself and turned toward the Queen. "Your Majesty?" the lady replied softly, forcing a diplomatic smile.
"I am finished," Lilian said, moving to rise out of the bath.
Guinevere hastily set everything to the side, wiped her hands on the front of her gown, and stood. She nudged her seat out of the way, fingers extended for the Queen to take. It was odd that Lilian wanted to leave the water so early, but the lady - in - waiting tried not to think too hard about it. The royal was likely just exhausted after the visit from the King. Guinevere swallowed down the bile that rose in her throat at the simple thought of HIM.
To Guinevere's surprise, Lilian did not move away after she was back on flat feet. Instead, she released Guinevere's hands and brought one of her own to lay against the lady - in - waiting's cheek. The faint blush on Guinevere's face made Lilian smile. Her heart was pounding against her ribs, begging her to act on the needling desire born from her new understanding.
Frederik was such a spiteful, horrible man. He had never been kind to her or looked at her with any depth of feeling that was not malicious. When he came to her rooms, it was to beat her. Many of the King's court whispered about the Queen's fertility, speculating as to why there was no child yet ; Lilian couldn't tell them that when her husband did force himself on her, he was usually ( fortunately, in her mind ) too drunk to finish.
— and then there was Guinevere. When she was introduced to Queen, Lilian had immediately taken note of the light the blonde carried with her. Guinevere was wild, all teeth and sharp edges and biting words, but Lilian adored that about her. She knew that Guinevere was genuine and truly cared for her Queen. Perhaps, Lilian hadn't understood how much.
Would it be a crime? Certainly, thinking lustfully of another woman was legally wrong . . . but what if Lilian wanted it? Something soft, something gentle, something she could trust would love and not wound her?
Suddenly, the Queen leaned in to kiss Guinevere. Her lady's lips were as supple as she wanted them to be. At first, Guinevere issued a muffled noise of surprise, hands moving to Lilian's body. The Queen readied to be pushed. To her amazement, Guinevere's objection didn't come. Lilian's damp skin beneath Guinevere's palms made the shocked note passing from the blonde's mouth distort and turn into a low moan. She couldn't help how her digits curled around Lilian's hips.
Finally, Guinevere needed to breathe. The lady - in - waiting separated them abruptly, fingers coming up to press to her mouth. As it hit her what they had done, she began to tremble. Unsteady, the blonde sank to her knees.
Lilian hastily lowered to meet Guinevere's eyes. "I — apologize, Gwen, I thought . . . " she stammered, reaching for the younger woman's hands.
"No, Your Majesty," Guinevere corrected, emerald stare gleaming with unshed tears. Her digits twined together with the brunette's. "You were right ; I'm overwhelmed, that's all. If I have . . . if I have offended Your Majesty with my tastes or if you think I am some sort of temptress, you may turn me over to the church. I would die quite happily now that it is not sitting on my chest. My secret, I mean, and how I am attracted to you. I know it is not right."
The Queen shook her head. "You will not be stoned, Guinevere," she vowed, squeezing her friend's fingers. "I swear to you that I will not say a word to any official. Especially since — " Lilian took a deep breath. "I would like to kiss you again."
Guinevere gasped, though she quickly nodded. Lilian closed the distance between them eagerly. This embrace was even better than the last since they were both sufficiently prepared for it. Lilian freed her hands and set them hesitantly at Guinevere's waist. It was impossible to deny how strongly the Queen felt about the matter. Having someone to love, to really love ; to enjoy the company of ; to desire . . . it made her feel human. In a way she hadn't since her marriage.
Once Lilian broke them apart, Guinevere reached for the ties of her nightgown. She loosened the flowing garment and drew it over her head. At the very least, she could put them on even footing. Luckily, the door was still locked. No one could disturb the pair without giving them ample warning.
Lilian held Guinevere's face tenderly. "I know what I should say," she murmured, thumb tracing the outline of her lady's lips. "We shouldn't be doing this. However, I cannot stop. I have never wanted anything as much as you."
Tears dripped from Guinevere's lashes. She stared at the Queen lovingly. It was as she said : should Lilian turn her in as soon as they left the washroom, the blonde would not protest. Her aching heart was out, bleeding before all of the world, and Guinevere couldn't begin to fathom tucking it away again.

@erabundus continued from [X]
The voice is easily recognised, even bringing a slight smile to his lips, even though he doesn't turn away from the current project he's working on - a man squirming uselessly against his restraints, as the doctor makes a few 'modifications' inside the open arm strapped before him, though he does finally glance up towards the puppet as he heard the footsteps come to a stop. His 'project', had now passed out from the mix of pain and no doubt fear, and so Scaramouche had managed to grab his attention for now - bloodied tools placed to one side as he spun in his chair to face the smaller male.
Tumblr media
"What did you do?", he frowned a little, though the motion was hidden by the mask he wore, eyes scanning over the details of the injury, clear fascination glowing behind his hidden gaze. Scaramouche was something that he quite enjoyed picking apart - and when this type of thing happened, it was always a delightful process in tracking down just what had caused such a backlash. A perfect puppet with such flaws, a little ironic, was it not? "Well, sit up on the table and I'll have a look...it has been a while...".

i really will never understand people who don’t *heavily* question what they read in religious texts because i’m on chapter four of genesis (thanks Serial Reader app) and already spent close to an hour googling questions where most of the links that come up are christian answer/analysis sites that literally say “Obviously, _____” and then something I don’t find obvious and is actually very debatable imo

@asprinkle ( starter call. ) endgame #3 from c.hess
Tumblr media
she is a dying girl. could she really say she's fully alive after almost losing her life in the arena? lungs draw breath, heart pounds, yet there are moments she feels more ghost than human. barely nineteen years old and johanna is already training another child for the same fate. she's only a few years younger than her. she laughs with her head thrown back and believes that she can survive the arena. johanna doesn't have the heart to remind her that the chances of that are one in twenty-four. being back at the capital makes johanna feel as if she's facing those odds once again. one in twenty-four chance she'll make it back on the train alive. with all the talk and speculation around the wedding ring on her finger, she's slowly suffocating.
the sight of someone she knows is a reporter only tightens the rope around her neck. she recognizes him from last year. art's better at working with the sponsors than she is. the point of tonight is to flatter and convince the capital citizens to toss a coin or two to the dying children. if mr. hirsch even is a sponsor in the first place. she's rather batter her eyes than dismiss questions about her marriage. the capital's enjoyed their little peak of the tribute and tribute relationship far too much. the wedding was in secret for a reason. johanna just forgot to take off the ring before leaving their room. it feels molded to her skin now.
she approaches him before he can approach her. a charming smile ( a better feeling of control over the conversation ). ❝ they all think they see a woman who doesn't know which move to make, which way to go. ❞ head tilts towards the crowd. ❝ some are vicious, some are fools and others blind to see in me, one of their kind. it's more satisfying to cheer for the underdog, isn't it? no one thought i would win, but i did. i think my tribute has a fair chance. she's smart. with tonight being all about the tributes--- ❞ a clear reminder of what they're here for ( they aren't here for the marriage questions ) ❝ ---i think that's fair to point out. ❞
