Fighting Fate (It’s a losing battle)
Theodore Nott x gn!reader
Inspired by, and dedicated to @musingsofahufflepuff
Summary: soulmate!au in which everyone sees in black and white until they meet their soulmate. Bold of fate to assume it can tell you what to do.
word count: 3.1k
Tumblr media
Ever since your first day at Hogwarts, you’d been told that you were lucky. A one in a million chance. Exceptional. Because as soon as you’d been sorted, and the sorting hat had been lifted up off of your head, your eyes had met his, and the world had burst into color.
It had been wildly disorientating at first- you almost fainted from the visual overload as the banners over each section of students burst into bright color. As you went to take your seat, you got strange looks from several students, but you never felt his eyes leave you.
You’d always thought it was rubbish. Even at the ripe old age of eleven. Your mother had first explained the idea of soulmates to you as a bedtime story. You remember her explaining how everything looked bland and colorless now because you hadn’t met your soulmate yet. But once you did, the world would come to life.
“When will I meet my soulmate?” You’d asked.
“Well, that’s the catch isn’t it? It’s different for everyone. Some meet their soulmate very young. At school even. But some, some will never meet their soulmate. They can be anywhere in the world, fate doesn’t discriminate.”
You’d scrunched your little nose up in distaste.
“That’s stupid. Why do I have to listen to fate?”
Your mother had only laughed, tucking you in and kissing your forehead goodnight. But the sentiment had remained as you grew up. How could someone really just be meant for you? Ridiculous.
Theo had known that you were going to be his soulmate before fate did. He’d watched silently from his seat on the train as you boarded, a nervous grin on your face as you waved goodbye to your family. You were perfect, and he couldn’t take his eyes off of you. At least until Mattheo swatted his arm.
“What’re you staring at, mate?” He’d asked loudly, gaining the attention of the other boys in the carriage.
“See them, there?” Theo asked, pointing to where you were boarding. “That’s going to be my soulmate.” He’d announced proudly.
“Yeah, okay mate,” the other boys had laughed, quickly moving on to the next topic.
But Theo didn’t take his eyes off of you until you disappeared through the train doors and off into some unknown compartment.
The next time he saw you was at the sorting ceremony. He watched as you confidently made your way up to the front, the smile never leaving your face as McGonagall lowered the hat onto your head. It only took a few moments of deliberation before the hat was being lifted off of your head and Theo’s eyes met yours.
It was like the wind was taken out of him as the room sprung to life, colors swirling around his vision as his eyes raced around the room in awe.
By the end of the night, all of Theo’s friends had been sorted into Slytherin with him. Mattheo, Enzo, Draco, Blaise. Even Crabbe and Goyle.
“I was right on the train. About them being my soulmate,” he’d announced proudly, pointing out different objects and describing the different colors to his friends who wondered in amazement.
You on the other hand, didn’t speak a word of it to anyone until you accidentally let it slip to your mother over break that you could see the pretty colored ornaments strung up on the tree.
She’d been thrilled of course, wanting to know every detail about this soulmate of yours. What did he look like? What house was he? Had the two of you spoken.
You answered each question with less enthusiasm than the one prior, and eventually she got the point and stopped asking.
As soon as the news slipped that Theodore Nott, a child of the sacred twenty-eight, and son of Tiberius Nott no less, could see in color however, it didn’t take long for people to start noticing you. Telling you how lucky you were to have found your soulmate. To be able to see color. As if you wanted a soulmate at eleven years old.
The first few years it was easy to avoid. Being only eleven or twelve, Theo was content admiring you from a far. Third year was when the boy finally got the courage to really try and talk to you for the first time. Sure he’d said hi a few times over the past couple years, but nothing you’d found particularly note worthy. Especially not for someone who was supposedly your soulmate.
Tumblr media
“Are you any good at charms?” A voice asks, startling you as you look up from the essay you had been finishing up in the court yard. It was a warm, cloudy day, with only a light breeze, so you’d thought it would be the perfect day to take your studies outside.
You stare up in surprise at the brunette boy in front of you, watching silently as he takes a seat across from you.
In the past, you'd played the avoiding game, quickly scurrying off if you saw the boy or his friends approaching. This year, you hadn't been taking the same precautions, and it seemed Theodore was taking full advantage.
“I’m alright,” you reply hesitantly.
That was a lie. Charms was your best subject, but you were hoping the boy might go away. He didn’t.
"I know that you're top of the class," he responds, staring intently at you with a sly smirk.
That afternoon you begrudgingly helped Theodore with his charms homework, and he happily helped you with your DADA essay. There wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between the two of you, but he wasn’t horrible you supposed. At least he had brain cells to rub together.
After that he kept popping up sporadically throughout your third year.
At quidditch tryouts he'd insisted on partnering with you for several of the drills. You both were offered a place on the team. In the Great Hall he'd seek you out to ask about the homework assignment he'd missed after skiving off of class with Mattheo. The fact that you gave him your notes each time meant nothing. Obviously. And every so often, between the shelves of books in the library, you'd see a flash of soft brown hair, and intense eyes gazing at you before they disappeared as if you were imagining it.
With each increasing encounter, the both of you made idle conversation as you kept the boy at an arms length. It was nothing personal really. In fact the more you thought about it, he seemed perfectly alright. But something in your stubborn thirteen year old self just wanted to stick it to fate. So you continued to ice the boy out.
Theodore however, was nothing if not determined. He knew from the moment he saw you that he was meant to be yours, and he’d be damned if he let you slip through his fingers. Thirteen year old Theodore was a stubborn bastard and he knew he was willing to play the long game.
Tumblr media
Things grew a bit more complicated in fourth year when you became friends with some of the Slytherin crowd.
It had been an accident really. You’d been reading down by the Black Lake when Daphne Greengrass had stumbled upon you, followed closely by Pansy Parkinson and Lorenzo Berkshire.
“Oh!” she’d said in delight, seeing the book in your hands, “I love that book!”
The two of you ended up talking enthusiastically about the novel for almost an entire hour with Pansy and Enzo butting in every so often to add their thoughts.
“Wait, you’re Theodore’s soulmate aren’t you?” Enzo asks, eventually recognizing you.
You eye the boy cautiously as you nod slowly, suddenly feeling self conscious.
Pansy just wrinkles her nose.
“Sorry you got stuck with such a tosser.” She says.
The four of you are quiet for a moment before your laughter breaks the silence, the other three following shortly after.
After that, you’re integrated into their little group seamlessly. You’d always been a bit of a loner. Sure people would wander up to you often enough to chatter about what it was like to see colors, but that was really all people wanted to know about you. Like it was some trivial party trick.
It was nice having your own friends to study with and wander about Hogsmeade with on the weekends. It was nice to have people who liked being around you simply for being you. Not because some magical force had decided to bind you to a whole other human and grant you the ability to see color.
It didn’t take long for Theo to notice you hanging about more frequently. How could he not? You were so pretty. So smart and witty. So perfect. He was just so happy to have you around more often. Even if it wasn’t to spend time with him specifically.
He reveled in any little morsel of information that he could scrape up from your friends. Your favorite color, your favorite sweets at Honeydukes, your class schedule. Theo was willing to admit the last one was a bit weird, but he was really just hungry to learn anything he could about his elusive soulmate.
Soon enough, it didn’t become unusual for Theodore and Mattheo to join the four of you on your little excursions. Popping up at the Black Lake, or meeting up with you at the Three Broomsticks. He was just always there. As if he was making a point of it. And begrudgingly you began to let him in.
A friend of your friends was okay you thought. Wouldn’t hurt to get to know him a bit. That wasn’t crossing any lines.
For Theo however, this was huge. He was finally getting somewhere. Even if you weren’t ready for any sort of romantic relationship, he was going to be the best damn friend you’d ever had.
Tumblr media
By fifth year, there was simply no denying it. Theodore Nott was your best friend. You weren’t really sure how it had happened. The two of you just fit so well together. He had truly wormed his way into your life.
It had started with the study sessions.
"Remember when you helped me with charms in third year?" He'd asked. "I got top marks on that assignment."
As those became more frequent, it had turned into afternoons by the lake with both of you deep in your own novels, but sharing the comfortable silence.
Then it had morphed into weekends at Hogsmeade. Your friends thought they were being subtle when they consistently slipped away, leaving you and Theo to wander about the village. You couldn't find it in yourself to mind though.
You’d tried to keep him at an arms length. You really had. But Enzo couldn’t make you laugh as hard as you did with Theo. And Daphne just wasn’t the intellectual match that Theo was. And Pansy always made sure you let loose sure, but being around Theo was just- freeing.
You still weren’t sold on the whole soulmate thing though. Sure Theo was great. Perfect even. But you just couldn’t shake the icky feeling of blindly trusting fate to decide your life.
Then it happened. No one was expecting it. Especially not Pansy. But you and Pansy and Draco and Theo had all been working late on a potions assignment before dinner, and on your way back up from the dungeons, Pansy ran smack into a certain platinum haired Ravenclaw. You’d later find out that her name was Luna Lovegood. As soon as their eyes met, Pansy stumbled, leaning into you for support. You already knew what was happening as her eyes darted around wildly.
“Oh. I suppose we’re soulmates then aren’t we?” The girl said, a dreamy look overtaking her.
It all seemed too easy for them after that. It was like a flip had switched and the two were just mad for each other. A picture perfect example of what soulmates should be.
You found it to be slightly horrifying how blindly trusting fate could severely change a person and their relationship with an essential stranger.
Theo however, couldn’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy. He had what? Almost five whole years on Pansy, and was lucky to get a friendly hug out of his soulmate. Yet Pansy and Luna were inseparable after only a few short weeks.
Not that Theo thought he was entitled to your affection necessarily. But it would be nice if you’d at least acknowledge the bond you two shared he thought.
“Why don’t you believe in soulmates?” Daphne asks one night.
It was one of those rare nights where it was only you, Daphne, Pansy, and Enzo huddled together wrapped in thick, warm blankets inside Daphne and Pansy’s dorm room. Salazar knows where Millicent was off spending her night. A bottle of shared fire whisky sat between you and packs of chocolate frogs littered the floor.
You blink in surprise at your friend’s question. You didn’t talk about soulmate stuff much.
“I do believe in them,” you say with a simple shrug.
“Yeah but you don’t really believe in them, ya know? Why?” She pushes.
You pause again, glancing at Pansy who was looking back at you intently.
“I don’t know. I guess I just don’t like the idea of someone deciding to be with me, just because they’re supposed to.” You say finally.
“I suppose I know what you mean.” Pansy murmurs after a moment.
You look at the girl in surprise and can tell the other two are shocked as well.
“Don’t get me wrong. I adore Luna. Really. I always tell her that I’m so glad that fate put us together. But then sometimes I wonder. If it weren’t for fate, would I have even given her a second glance that day I bumped into her in the corridor?”
There’s a silent lull as your group mulls over Pansy’s words before slowly drifting off to a new topic.
In another dorm, not so far off, Theo lay on his bed staring blankly up at the ceiling.
“Think they’ll come around soon?” Mattheo asks, sensing his roommate’s building tension.
“I dunno. But I’ll wait,” he replies, closing his eyes and letting images of you flood his mind. “They’re worth it.”
That night as you’re leaving to return to your dorm, Enzo catches your arm, pulling you off to the side.
“You can never tell Theo that I told you this, but the first time I met Theo, we were on the train waiting to leave for Hogwarts and he pointed out the window to a someone and said ‘they’re going to be my soulmate’. Then, at the sorting ceremony he got all dizzy all the sudden, and when we got to the common room, he said that he’d been right about who his soulmate would be. You. Just thought you should know.”
And with that, he’s gone.
It’s after that that you really begin to see Theo. You’d never really given him a fighting chance. But now, you kind of wanted to.
Tumblr media
It’s the beginning of sixth year when Theo finally notices the shift. Notices you actually seeking him out on purpose, not flinching away when your hands brush, eyes hovering on his lips a bit too long for it to be accidental. And to say that he is ecstatic.
Meanwhile you were silently kicking yourself for taking so long to get over your petty bullshit with fate. Sure you still didn’t love the idea of it all, but after spending enough time with Theo, you could really, truly see the appeal.
After that night in fifth year, you began noticing how Theodore was one of the only students who could keep up with your academic prowess. He could always sense when you were tired, or stressed, or simply in a mood, and always did his best to subtly cheer you up. He was always there. Even after all the years you had put him through the wringer, he remained by your side. And that’s what really convinced you.
It’s also what landed you here, at the top of the astronomy tower, with your head in Theodore’s lap as his fingers raked gently through your hair.
It had become a usual meeting spot for the both of you. Theo had brought you up here a week into the school year starting. It was his safe place. His getaway when everything got to be too much, or when he just needed space to think. When those words had left his mouth you had melted. He trusted you. You had meant so much to him for so long, and you couldn't be bothered to give him the time of day.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble, eyes gazing out at the swirling navy sky that seemed to stretch on forever.
“For what, amore?”
“Dunno. Making you feel like you weren’t good enough, or makin you feel like a bad soulmate.”
Theo looks down at you, and you meet his steady gaze.
“I knew I was good enough, amore. We wouldn’t be soulmates if we weren’t perfect for each other.” He replies.
You perk up at this. “You think I’m perfect?” You ask, a dopey smile appearing on your face.
Theo just rolls his eyes, shaking his head as he laughs. He'd grown used to your antics. Just another piece of you that he'd grown fond of.
“I said that we’re perfect together. But you’re perfect too I suppose.”
It hadn’t taken nearly as long as you had expected to reach this point. It seemed that Theo had just been waiting for the word to switch on boyfriend mode. All it took was one spontaneous, heated make out session in his dorm room, and you had the boy wrapped around your finger. (He already had been for years, but you didn’t need to know that.)
“Alright. Wrap it up love birds. You better be fully clothed,” Pansy calls, head peeping up from the top of the staircase leading up to the tower. “You two have been up here for hours, and you can’t have them all to yourself Theodore. They were our friend first.”
“Yeah! Time’s up lover boy!” You hear Enzo call.
Theo groans, head falling back as he rises lazily, offering you a hand up.
“I waited five years for this, can’t you guys let me have my moment?” He calls back.
“No!” The chorus replies.
With a laugh, you grab onto Theo’s hand, tugging him towards the stairs.
“C’mon. If we get Mattheo and Enzo drunk enough, they won’t notice if I spend the night,” you say with a cheeky wink.
“I heard that!” Enzo’s voice rings out.
“You wouldn’t say no to me anyway,” you shout back.
With a smile, Theo follows you down the stairs after your rowdy friends, hand wrapped tightly around yours. It had taken him five long years, and he certainly wasn’t going to let go anytime soon.

______________________________________________________________
Since your first day at Hogwarts, Mattheo Riddle had been your best friend.
You remembered that fateful day on the Hogwarts Express well. You were a Muggle-born who didn’t know the first thing about magic or Hogwarts, who shyly sat in a train car by yourself reading your school textbooks and trying to figure out what you were about to walk into. Then the compartment door opened and a boy with sparkling hazel eyes and floppy brown curls stumbled in, laughing, shoved by one of his friends. Figuring that they’d dared him to go talk to the weird kid reading by herself, you’d rolled your eyes, but he’d ignored your attitude and introduced himself nonetheless. He asked you why you were sitting by yourself and you were honest, telling him that you didn’t know anything about magic and you were trying to figure it out. In stunned silence, you watched as he chuckled before explaining that you didn’t have to have it all figured out – half of his friends didn’t, and most of them had grown up in the wizarding world with two magical parents and all magical friends. Then, he let you practically interrogate him about all things magical until it was time to change into your robes and arrive at the castle. He patted the seat next to him in invitation when he hopped into a boat and the rest was history.
“Slytherin!” When the Sorting Hat cried out your placement to the Great Hall, Mattheo was the only cheer amongst a sea of polite claps, and your nerves disappeared when you looked over to your new house table and saw him hollering joyfully. After you joined him at the table, he introduced you to the rest of his friends – Pansy Parkinson, Daphne Greengrass, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, Lorenzo Berkshire, Theodore Nott…
“And this is my brother, Tom. He’s older and wiser, so if you’ve got any questions, ask Tommy Boy over here.”
The elder Riddle’s eyes finally strayed from the pages of the book he’d been reading at the sound of the unwanted nickname, glaring at his younger brother before glancing toward you. You immediately felt the air leave your chest. He was absolutely striking, with darker curls than Mattheo and piercing green eyes that contrasted starkly with his brother’s hazel. His expression was focused and intense and you were paralyzed in his gaze.
“There’s no need to be afraid of my brother, by the way,” Mattheo said later as the two of you stood in line, following your Prefect to the Slytherin dormitories with the other students. “He likes to think he’s intimidating, but he’s really just a big nerd.”
“Oh, I’m not scared,” you responded, and he looked at you in confusion. Just…a little caught off guard, that’s all.” He shrugged, and you were relieved that he believed you. You didn’t know much about boys, but you suspected that your brother’s attractive wouldn’t go over well.
As you grew older, you only grew closer to your little group of Slytherin friends. You’d gone on your fair share of dates, had your first kiss with Theo on a dare, and loved and lost a few times, but you’d never quite been able to shake that feeling that Tom gave you, like he could see right through you. It didn’t help that he’d transformed from striking to downright gorgeous with age – his face had hardened into sharp cheekbones and a strong jawline, accompanied by that same piercing green stare he’d always had. He’d become a truly upstanding Hogwarts student, always put together and responsible without a hair out of place, keeping the rest of the student body in line as Head Boy. His intense and commanding nature made him even more attractive to you, but even when he paused his studies and Head Boy duties to sit about with his brother’s friends, it seemed like he was a million miles away, eager to remove himself from the group’s antics. When your friends had dared you and Theo to kiss, he’d rolled his eyes in disgust, scoffing incredulously when you’d actually gone through with it.
Yet, he’d also developed an oddly gentle demeanor towards you…at least compared to the way he treated the rest of the students at Hogwarts. When you visited the Riddles’ house for the first time during the summer after second year and their parents were hostile towards you, Tom laid a hand on your shoulder and told you to pay them no mind. During your third year, you finally gotten the hang of Potions – your worst class up until that point – and he nodded appreciatively every time you announced to Mattheo that you’d earned another O on an assignment, assuring you that the class was quite difficult and you were doing well. While in your fourth year, the Yule Ball came around, and a nasty older girl in Slytherin teased you a few weeks before the event for not having a date yet. When Tom overheard, he told the girl off harshly and took points from his own house just to punish her.
“Sadie Burke is a nasty creature,” he muttered darkly, pulling you aside after reprimanding her. “Don’t listen to a word she says, okay?” He cleared his throat. “Do I need to tell my brother to get his act together and take his best friend to the Ball?” Your face reddened and you looked at the floor, embarrassed that he was under the impression that you couldn’t find a date.
“No, I…honestly, I’ve already turned down a few offers,” you said quietly. It was true – Zacharias Smith had creeped you out and you knew that Michael Corner had only asked you to make his ex-girlfriend jealous. Besides, even if you knew that he wouldn’t, you’d been carrying a slight flame of hope that Tom would ask you. “Maybe I should’ve accepted. But Enz agreed to be my backup anyway, with his girlfriend off at Durmstrang and all. So no need to badger your brother,” you added with a hesitant grin. Tom let out a sigh.
“I was hoping Mattheo would take you,” he groaned. “I’m sick of him turning up to these things with girls he won’t even bother to learn the name of.” You laughed in spite of yourself. I hoped my brother would ask you out wasn’t exactly what you’d been hoping to hear, but Tom was right about one thing – your best friend was quickly becoming a menace in the relationship department.
“It’s so annoying!” you agreed. “I feel bad for them – he never treats them poorly or anything, but he’s got the attention span of a fish. There aren’t that many girls here - at the rate he’s going, by next year he’s going to have to double back and go for a second round with some of them.” Tom chuckled slightly, a smirk tugging on the corners of his mouth.
“I want to start warning them off, just to see what happens.” He paused for a moment, then frowned. “He’s never tried any of that with you, right?” You wrinkled your nose in disgust.
“Ew, no!” you objected with a giggle. “Neither of us think about each other like that.” An indiscernible look passed across Tom’s face for a moment before he met your gaze again.
“Good.” He walked away, brushing past you and leaving you with chills where his hand touched your shoulder as he moved.
You’d ultimately gone to the ball with Enzo and had a blast, though you felt a pang of envy as you watched Tom escort some other Prefect in Ravenclaw. You saw her around the Slytherin common room a few times after that, but apparently Tom’s solitary nature ultimately won over and she disappeared like the many other girls who’d begun to realize that he was attractive. That, you realized, was the difference between the Riddle brothers. Both (objectively) stunningly handsome, but Mattheo was at least willing to humor the girls who were interested in him for a while. Tom had no interest, giving even the few girls who’d managed to drag him out to Hogsmeade the cold shoulder after one date.
As you witnessed this from the sidelines throughout your fifth year and saw no evidence that he’d change, you decided that your crush on him had to go. So you went out on dates yourself, snogged Theo, and found a boyfriend, and when that didn’t work out, another. But when that boyfriend cheated on you, Tom walked in on you sobbing on Mattheo’s shoulder in the Slytherin common room. The next day your newly ex-boyfriend wound up in the Hospital Wing with gnarly open sores all over his body, unable to remember what had happened. Not even the professors had seen a spell like it before. Mattheo confessed to you that evening that he recognized the spell as one his brother had invented.
“Why would he do something like that?” you asked, confused.
“I may have mentioned to him at breakfast that I was going to fight the bloke,” Mattheo admitted. “He hates when I get detentions, thinks it smears the family name.” Your best friend rolled his eyes. “I guess he was worried that I would get caught.”
It was sick and twisted, but your brain flashed between believing Mattheo’s explanation and wondering whether Tom’s actions meant that he felt something for you. Even though you knew it was wrong, the thought of Tom being vicious and protective over you made you even more attracted to him then you already were. In spite of your best efforts, you entered your sixth year with another major crush on him. It was one of the few points of continuity in the whirlwind that was your first NEWT year, really. Between studying for your increasingly difficult classes, homework assignments, Quidditch matches and Hogsmeade weekends, and the eternally raucous parties that your best friend threw in the Slytherin common room, you barely had time to get a word in edgewise with your life. But two things remained: your Slytherin friend group and your feelings for Tom Riddle.
“Y/N!” Pansy hissed one fall night of your sixth year as you lay in bed, ready to fall asleep. You rolled over, squinting at her in the darkness. “Mattheo just sent me an owl.” The bird flapped out of the open window and into the pitch black air as she spoke.
“At this time of night?” you groaned, rubbing your eyes. “What does he want?”
“He still has some Firewhiskey from the party last night,” she whispered. “He wants us to come down to the common room with Nott and Zabini and them so we can finish it.”
“Ughhh,” you groaned. “Pans, we’ve been drinking all weekend. Didn’t you want to get up early and go to Hogsmeade tomorrow?”
“It’s fine, we can go in the afternoon,” she reasoned. “We should kill the Firewhiskey before Snape or some Prefect finds it.”
“Fine,” you sighed. “Daph!” you hissed, launching your pillow across the room at Daphne, who was laying in her bed half asleep.
“Whaddya want?” she mumbled, snapping up and rubbing her eyes.
“Drinks in the common room, you in?”
“Yeah, yeah,” she whispered with a yawn. “Let’s do it.”
When the three of you stumbled down to the common room, you found the boys sitting about, passing a couple of half-empty bottles around, the room illuminated only by the green light of the lake and a small lamp that the boys had lit. Draco and Blaise sat back in armchairs while Mattheo, Lorenzo, and Theo sat on the floor, taking swigs of Firewhiskey.
“I wish we had some coffee with this,” you groaned as Theo passed you the bottle and you plopped down on an upholstered couch. Pansy joined you while Daphne perched herself on the arm of Blaise’s chair and he slipped an arm around her hips. You glanced at Pansy and the two of you rolled your eyes. Those two just needed to start dating already. Carefully, you took a swig of whiskey from the bottle in your hands, coughing slightly at the burn in your throat before passing it to Pansy. “Haven’t you guys ever heard of a mixer?”
“Couldn’t nick anything from the kitchens,” Mattheo explained as he accepted the other bottle from Draco. Pansy rolled her eyes.
“Please,” she scoffed. “With you, there’s always a way. You just like to feel edgy, drinking it straight and having a cig.”
“Now that you mention it,” he responded with a smirk, pulling a paper out of his pocket and starting to roll a cigarette.
As you continued to pass the bottles around with your friends, you felt your head getting lighter and warmth spread across your chest. Pansy cast a Silencing Charm on the common room so you all could talk without attracting any attention from outside or those in the dormitories and you relaxed, your slight apprehensions about getting caught fading away. You all laughed and played Never Have I Ever, the very targeted prompts revealing exactly how well you all knew each other.
“Never Have I Ever snogged some Ravenclaw at a party and then been paired up with the same guy in Potions the next day,” you said, staring pointedly at Daphne. She grinned and drank as the rest of your friends laughed loudly. It was a legendary story in your friend group, and the partnership had gone on for months. Finally, Blaise banned the guy from Slytherin parties until he requested a change, and he promptly did so. Whether it was out of fear of missing the legendary parties or of Blaise himself, you weren’t sure, but he’d been reluctantly allowed back in.
“Never Have I Ever ditched my mates to hit on some girl,” Enzo chimed in, frowning at Mattheo. Everyone laughed again as Mattheo shook his head and reluctantly accepted the charge, pulling his cigarette from his lips and taking a swig from the bottle.
“You guys are so dramatic,” he groaned.
“You do it all the time, Matty!” you protested lovingly as he passed the bottle. The others nodded in agreement. “We’re having a great time in the Great Hall or at Quidditch or whatever and then some girl waltzes up to you and poof, I suddenly don’t exist to you or her.”
“Don’t come at me for my W rizz,” he objected, crinkling his nose at you.
Theo frowned. “What…what does that mean?”
“Never Have I Ever used the phrase ‘W rizz’ in conversation,” you joked, shaking your head as Mattheo took another drink from the bottle in his hand.
“Never Have I Ever caught feelings for someone in the group,” Draco cut in smugly. You rolled your eyes. He was way too proud of himself for someone who’d only avoided crushing on one of his friends because he’d been pining after Hermione Granger for three years straight. You giggled and watched Daphne and Blaise drink, as well as Enzo and Pansy, who’d had a short-lived fling after the Durmstrang girl had chucked him. Then Pansy passed the bottle to you and you paused, your face turning red.
“Well, who counts as someone in the group?” you blurted out before you could stop yourself. With the Firewhiskey in your system, your internal filter wasn’t quite up to scratch. Your friends collectively turned to look at you and Pansy and Daphne raised their eyebrows. They were the two out of the group who knew that you were…intrigued by Mattheo’s older brother. Meanwhile, Draco scoffed.
“Y/N, Nott absolutely counts as someone in the group,” he retorted, rolling his eyes. You smirked.
“Sure, he counts, but he doesn’t qualify for the feelings portion,” you reasoned. “We only kissed on a dare. No offense, Theo,” you added, glancing at your friend.
“Oh, none taken,” he responded airily. He typically went for girls in other houses anyhow.
“Anyway, back to who counts,” Draco said dryly, “Who do you think? Everyone here. Me, Zabini, Berkshire, Nott, Matt, Pans, Daph. Can’t think of anyone else who would.”
“Right,” you replied, passing the bottle without taking a drink.
“Wait, who were you thinking counted?” Mattheo asked, raising his eyebrows. You felt your face heat up even further.
            “Oh, you know…other Slytherins.”
“Such as…” he prompted and you laughed, shaking your head as the others watched your exchange curiously.
“None of your beeswax!” you protested, hurling a throw pillow from the couch in his direction as he let out a yelp of protest and tried to bat it away from his face. “No one included in the prompt.”
“Come on,” he whined, pouting at you as he threw the pillow back. “I’m your best mate, you’ve got to at least give me a hint.”
“Not to mention the rest of us,” Enzo complained. “I’m not used to being left in the dark.” Your stomach flipped nervously as you felt Mattheo’s curious eyes on you. You’d managed to prevent him from catching on to how you felt about Tom for this long – you couldn’t mess up now.
Suddenly, the conversation was interrupted by a creaking that emerged from the common room entrance. You and your friends sat bolt upright, glancing around hurriedly.
            “Someone’s coming!” Pansy hissed.
“No, I never would’ve guessed,” Mattheo retorted, quickly stoppering the liquor bottles with a flick of his wand. “You all,” he continued, gesturing at you, Pansy, Daphne, Draco, and Blaise. “Get down on the floor. I’ll put out the light. It’s probably some other degenerate out past curfew, but I don’t want to have to share the liquor if they see us.” You all obliged as he waved his wand again and you found yourself hiding in the shadows.
Footsteps echoed through the room as you sat frozen with your back pressed to the couch, not even daring to stick your head up to see who they belonged to. You breathed a sigh of relief as they drew closer to the stairs, but tensed once again as they bypassed the steps to the dormitories entirely and instead continued into the depths of the common room.
“Mattheo et. al., you can come out now,” a familiar voice drawled, and your heart rate sped up. Tom. Not just some degenerate…the actual Head Boy. He must be coming back from patrols. You and your friends rose hesitantly as Mattheo re-lit the lamp. Your eyes caught Tom’s through the shadows before his gaze quickly switched back toward his brother. “I can smell that horrendous cologne you wear from the doorway.” He turned back to the group. “It’s very foolish for you all to be breaking curfew, especially at this hour.”
“Tommy, come on,” Mattheo began with a cheeky grin. “You wouldn’t report your brother, would you?”
“That depends,” Tom replied evenly, raising his eyebrows. “Do you all have alcohol?” Panic rose in your chest and you flushed under his scrutiny. Sure, he was hot, but he could also totally report you and get you detention. Frantically, you shook your head as you tried to kick the bottle of Firewhiskey nearest to you under the couch. “Don’t try to hide it,” Tom ordered, holding you in his piercing gaze and sending shivers down your spine. He held out his hand, his rings flashing silver in the light of the lamp. “Give it to me.” You retrieved the bottle and handed it to him, shaking ever so slightly. To your confusion, he unstoppered it. “Thank Salazar,” he groaned, stepping forward and sitting down on the couch. “I need a drink, it’s been a long day.”
Your friends let out audible sighs of relief as they realized that Tom wouldn’t report you all to Professor Snape. “Don’t ever mess with me like that again!” Mattheo complained, sitting back down on the floor. Tom raised his eyebrows.
“I could actually report you, if you’d prefer,” he responded dryly and Mattheo frantically shook his head. Tom scoffed. As your friends slowly began to relax and return to their seats, he smirked, catching your eye. “I really got you, huh?” You blushed, pouting slightly.
“That was mean,” you murmured softly and he let out a chuckle as you sat back down on the couch where you’d been before – which just happened to put you right next to him. As Pansy returned to her old spot, you were squished closer to him and you felt your cheeks heat up more. His self-satisfied expression was annoyingly hot.
“Doesn’t anyone have a glass around here?” he asked, his lip curling slightly as he regarded the bottle in his hand.
“Who do you think we are, bro? Adults?” Mattheo retorted and Tom rolled his eyes, shaking his head. He took a deep swig from the bottle before passing it to Draco, then leaned back against the sofa, throwing the arm nearest to you over the backrest. It was the most relaxed you’d ever seen him.
“So what happened today that drove you to drink?” you asked, intrigued, as bottles began to move between your friends again. Tom rarely even came to Slytherin parties – the one time Mattheo had managed to drag him, he’d gotten irritated and left not even an hour in – and you’d never seen him drink outside of meeting with professors at Three Broomsticks. You were surprised that he was able to down the whiskey with so much ease.
“Idiots on patrols,” he spat in annoyance, his lip curling again. “All sorts of people out of bed, and everyone acting outraged when I took points. These slow patrols full of people who want to argue are cutting into my studying time—“ He paused as you received a bottle from Pansy, took a heavy swig, and passed it to him. He drank deeply once more before passing it on. “—and NEWTS are just months away.”
“Have another drink, big bro, you need some balance,” Mattheo cut in with a mischievous grin. “We can’t have you going grey from stress, now.”
“Yes, advice from Mister Time Management himself,” Tom sneered. “Tell me, how ever do you balance all the girl-chasing with the partying and the nicotine addiction?” Mattheo just laughed, flicking the ash from his cigarette onto the floor.
“All I’m saying is that you just got here,” he replied, grinning as he handed his brother a bottle. “You should probably catch up to the rest of us.” The rest of your friends watched with curiosity.
“With pleasure,” Tom drawled, and to your surprise he took another heavy drink. After he finished, he passed the bottle to you. Not to be outdone, you chugged some yourself before handing it back to him. He took a final swig before passing it on in the other direction. He raised his eyebrows at you after doing so. “It’s not a competition.”
“Why?” you teased, emboldened in your tipsy state. “Scared I’ll drink you under the table?” He scoffed.
            “In your dreams.”
“Okay losers, more Never Have I Ever?” Mattheo announced, glancing around at the others. You nodded your assent, but Pansy disagreed.
“I’m bored of that,” she complained. “Let’s play Truth or Dare.”
“Ooh, let’s do that,” Daphne agreed eagerly.
“Okay, everyone for Truth or Dare?” Mattheo asked and you gave a hesitant thumbs-up. Truth or Dare with your friends tended to get a bit…chaotic. But you could use some chaos tonight. The others nodded.
“You all are twelve,” Tom drawled, taking another drink. Pansy pouted in his direction, and he rolled his eyes. “Fine, I’ll play.”
“Okay, since you suggested it Pans, truth or dare?” Mattheo began with a mischievous grin.
“Dare,” she responded immediately, sitting up in anticipation.
“Alright…I dare you to leave the common room, do a lap around the dungeons without getting caught by Filch, and then come back.”
As the game continued, you relaxed into the couch, listening to your friends play. Your head was starting to feel heavy from the alcohol and, with a nervous glance at the boy next to you, you rested it on his shoulder. You half expected him to ask what was wrong with you or push you off, but he didn’t. Instead, he lowered his arm from the backrest of the couch and wrapped it around your shoulders, leaning back so that you could more easily rest on him. You watched, giggling, as Enzo stood on his head and attempted to chug Firewhiskey, spewing it out of his nose and toppling over onto his back instead.
“Great try, Enz,” Theo managed to get out in between gales of laughter. “Who’s next?”
“Y/N.” You sat up, suddenly alert. “Truth or dare?” Enzo asked, a mischievous grin on his face as he straightened himself out.
“Um…truth,” you replied. You didn’t have the energy to stand up, and you definitely didn’t want to be asked to do something ridiculous in front of Tom. Besides, doing anything would require his arm to not be around you, and that sounded awful.
“Great, well, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we’d love to know which Slytherin you were talking about during Never Have I Ever.”
Your eyes widened and you felt your whole face turn red as the boys turned to watch you with amusement. Pansy and Daphne, on the other hand, acquired similarly shocked expressions, and you saw them both trying to subtly glare daggers at Enzo.
“Who’s this Slytherin?” Tom chimed in before you could say anything.
“Oh, just some fortunate lad that Y/N fancies,” Theo replied smugly, clearly enjoying your embarrassment.
“Oh, I’m intrigued,” Tom drawled in response, raising his eyebrows at you. Your face turned even more red, if it was possible, and you violently shook your head.
“Nope,” you declined. “I’ll drink. I’m not doing that one.” You reached towards Mattheo for the bottle, but he didn’t oblige.
“Come on, Y/N,” he said gently, a slightly hurt look emerging in his eyes. “I’m your best friend – we’re all your best friends. Do you really not trust us enough to tell us?”
You wished with all your heart that you and Mattheo could actually telecommunicate, because the glances you were shooting him clearly weren’t explaining anything. “I just…don’t want to talk about this right now,” you insisted.
“Ughhh, you already picked the easy one anyway!” Draco protested. “Just say it and get one with it, it’s not like we’re going to tell him.”
Saying it right now would be telling him, you idiot, you wished you could shout. Instead, you stubbornly shook your head again. “Nope. We always play this game as Truth, Dare, or drink. I’ll drink.” Finally, Mattheo passed you the bottle and you took what you hoped was a deep enough drink to satisfy your nosy friends. “Okay, Enz, you can ask someone else, since I didn’t do it.” This pacified Enzo well enough and you pulled your knees up to your chest, curling yourself into Tom’s side as you listened to Blaise reveal his first Hogwarts crush – Marietta Edgecombe, apparently. Tom wrapped his arm around you again and unconsciously began playing with the edge of your pajama shorts that hung around your outer thigh. Goosebumps ran across your skin at his touch and you struggled to conceal just how euphoric you felt from being close to him.
Finally, after several rounds of the game, Mattheo fixed Tom in his gaze. “Brother.”
            “Yes?” Tom responded dispassionately.
“Truth or – wait a second, why are you two cuddling?”
The entire group seemed to turn their focus to you two at once and you wanted to curl up in a ball and hide, your eyes widening. Tom, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care, and he kept his arm around you as he held his brother’s gaze.
“She’s had quite a lot to drink, I suspect if I wasn’t keeping her on the couch she would have fallen off of it by now,” he responded in a bored tone. Your heart sank. Had you been reading too much into all of this? Was he just looking out for you, like you were some other duty for him to check off his list? You sat up, hoping to prove that you were fine. “Anyway, you were saying?”
            “Truth or dare, brother?”
            “Dare.” Mattheo grinned.
            “I-“
“Wait a second,” Blaise interrupted. “I have a great one. Call it a…punishment for noncompliance, if you will.” Your stomach flipped nervously as Mattheo’s eyebrows raised. “Let me intercept this one?”
“Let’s hear it,” Mattheo agreed. Blaise smirked. You glanced at Tom, who appeared unimpressed.
“Well,” Blaise began, giving the two of you the closest thing to an evil grin that you’d ever seen, “It seems that a whole slew of problems could be solved here. Riddle, you’re looking for a great way to relieve some stress. Y/N, if that bloke you’re into is too embarrassing to tell us about, then you definitely need to get over him. Ergo, I propose…Seven Minutes in Heaven. Between the two of you.”
You froze, your eyes wide as everyone turned to look at you and Tom for what felt like the fiftieth time that night.
“We are not getting in the closet like we’re dolls that you children want to make kiss,” Tom sneered, frowning at Blaise. “Give me the whiskey, I’ll drink.”
“No, no more drinking!” Draco protested with a laugh, leaning forward in his chair and blocking Enzo as he moved to pass the bottle. “This is getting boring. I agree with Zabini, you two have been way too friendly tonight.” He pointed at a broom closet in the corner. “Get in that broom closet, I don’t care what you do, just don’t come out until we say so.” Tom raised a single eyebrow.
“If you want us to go stand in a broom closet for seven minutes, fine,” he said evenly, standing up. You followed his lead, accepting your fate. “Enjoy the show,” he drawled as he followed you into the closet, shutting the door behind you.
You’d been in a broom closet before alone, and as tight as it had been by yourself, it was unimaginably more cramped with someone else in there too. You and Tom stood chest-to-chest with barely anywhere to go as tension rose in the air. Frankly, you were at your wits’ end. Finally, Tom had acknowledged you, held you, been so gentle and kind to you for more than a few moments only to brush it all aside, only for some stupid dare to ruin it. And now? Now you had to stand around in a broom closet for seven minutes of awkward silence with the boy you’d had it bad for since first year. You’d had too much to drink, you were tired, and before you knew it, you were crying.
“Hey. Hey,” Tom’s voice cut through the silence. He waved his wand and light streamed from it, finally illuminating the room. You covered your face in embarrassment – you couldn’t believe you were crying in front of one of the most notoriously intimidating people at Hogwarts, let alone someone you fancied, and whose opinion you cared deeply about. But you felt his hands wrap around your wrists and slowly, gently, he removed your hands from your face. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m…really tired,” you managed to get out with a sniffle, figuring that was the easiest way to explain it.
“Hey,” he murmured wiping your tears with his thumb as he looked down at you, his hand cupping your cheek. “Don’t let them get to you. They can’t actually tell us what to do, you know. We can leave if we want. Do you want to leave?” You shook your head.
“I’m just frustrated,” you responded softly. “They can be really nosy sometimes.”
“They should trust you,” he said, letting his hands fall to your shoulders. “I’m sure you have your reasons for the things you don’t want to tell them.”
“I do.” You let your head fall against his chest, then paused, recalling an old conversation with Mattheo. “Does that…bother you? Matty told me that you aren’t always the most…touchy person.” A soft chuckle resonated through the broom closet as he wrapped his arms around you, stroking your hair gently.
“That doesn’t apply to you.” His raspy voice was hushed, almost a whisper, but you heard it clearly. You felt your heart beat faster. “If I didn’t want to, I wouldn’t.”
After a pause, you opened your mouth again, your voice almost a whisper.
“I wasn’t drunk enough to go falling off the couch, you know.”
            “I know.”
You looked up at him, his eyes as enthralling as ever, so dark in the dim light that they looked like the glow of the Black Lake. Daring to explore, you reached your hand up and gently brushed the side of his face, your palm tingling as you laid it to rest at the base of his neck, your fingers twining in his curls.
“But you didn’t even want to do this…” you trailed off softly, your insecurity showing its face. His expression hardened.
“I didn’t want to go into a closet with you for some dare,” he said firmly. “I want you. Salazar, I always have.” Your heart raced, and you hardly dared to believe what you were hearing. “But if we’re going to do this, I won’t go back. It can’t be for a stupid dare.”
“I’ve wanted you since the moment I first saw you,” you confessed. “No matter how hard I try not to, Tom.”
“Who’s this idiot you fancy then?” Tom murmured, his intense stare utterly intoxicating as his hands moved to your waist and his thumb traced your hip, the edge of his ring pressing into the bone. “I want to make you forget he ever existed.” You giggled softly at the irony, glancing down at the floor and in response, he took your jaw in his hand and brought your eyes back to his. Your stomach flipped eagerly as you felt his strong grip and you wondered how in the world someone could feel so much like danger and safety at the same time. “Will you let me make you forget him?”
“That would be difficult, considering that I’m currently in a broom closet with him,” you replied, a mischievous smile pulling at your lips. Desire danced behind his eyes as they stared back into yours. He released your jaw and moved his hand to the back of your neck, his other one coming to rest on the small of your back.
“Well then,” he whispered teasingly, a smirk growing on his face. “I suppose we still have six minutes or so.”
The second his lips connected with yours, you were addicted.
You’d fantasized about Tom Riddle kissing you a million times and yet, nothing could compare to the real thing. He tasted like Firewhiskey and sharp mint and the fierceness of the kiss, of the way he held you in his arms, made your heart race. His hands roamed across your body, exploring your skin, as his tongue parted your lips, making you whimper softly. He let out a moan, his fingers tracing the bare skin of your thighs as his other hand wrapped around the side of your neck possessively.
“Tom…” His name escaped your lips as his touches grew more intense with need.
Your noises of pleasure seemed to fuel him, and he moved forward until your back collided with the shelves behind you. He picked you up and you wrapped your legs around him as his lips continued to work against yours. You whined in disappointment when he broke the kiss, but it quickly became a moan of pleasure as his lips moved to your neck, making your whole body tingle with desire.
“You’re perfect,” he groaned breathily, staring into your eyes. “You’re mine.”
“I’m yours,” you whimpered as he sucked on your neck, giving you the perfect mix of pain and pleasure. “All yours.”
Six minutes later, you were breathing heavily and your neck was covered in hickeys when a knock at the door snapped you back to reality.
“Uh, guys? You can come out now,” echoed the hesitant voice of Enzo Berkshire.
“Yeah, we’re sorry about the dare,” Pansy called. “It was a really stupid joke.”
“Maybe if we ignore them, they’ll go away,” you whispered, and Tom, appearing as though he hadn’t even heard the disturbance, continued to kiss and suck at your neck and collarbones, determined to further mark you as his.
            “OH, EW!”
The two of you looked up to see the door open, Mattheo staring at the scene in front of him in horror.
“You guys literally dared us to!” you immediately protested as Tom turned around to glare at his brother. You snatched the nearest item – broom polish – off the shelves and hurled it in the general direction of your best friend.
“I didn’t object, that’s different than being the one who issued the dare,” Mattheo complained as the broom polish container smashed on the floor behind him. You struggled to straighten yourself out before the rest of your friends saw you. Smoothing your hair, you stepped out of the broom closet and back into the common room. “I didn’t know you were going to – that’s my best mate, bro!”
“You introduced me to her,” Tom replied evenly, a smirk dancing on his lips. “From my angle, you only have yourself to blame.”
He wrapped his arm around your waist possessively as the two of you moved back towards your friends, retaking your seats. If they’d been shocked when they saw you laying your head on his shoulder before, it was nothing compared to now. Pansy was openly gaping at the hickies on your neck, the room completely silent.
“Yes!” Daphne exclaimed, finally breaking the tension. “I knew it! Pans, you owe me five galleons and a trip to Gladrags tomorrow.”
“What?” Enzo exclaimed in confusion, just as you cried, “you two were betting on us?”
“Just about whether you two would get together before or after Christmas,” Pansy clarified. “We both knew you would figure it out eventually.”
“I had a little more faith,” Daphne added smugly.
“Wait,” Enzo stuttered. “I’m confused. So is he…?” he trailed off, pointing at Tom.
“The mystery Slytherin? Yes,” you admitted, blushing slightly. Tom pulled you in closer and you draped both of your legs over his thigh.
“Ohhhh! That makes so much sense,” Draco blurted suddenly, making you laugh.
“And they knew?” Mattheo exclaimed, looking back and forth between Pansy and Daphne like he’d been kicked.
“I’m so sorry, Matty,” you said sincerely. “They figured it out themselves at the beginning of the year. I wanted to tell you, I really did, it was just harder…”
“…because he’s my brother,” Mattheo finished. “I get it.”
“I wanted to tell all of you, I really did,” you assured your friends. “I just wasn’t ready to tell Matty yet, and then he showed up,” you continued with a laugh, gesturing at Tom, “and there was no way I was about to drop that on him in a middle of late-night Truth or Dare.”
“Uh, yeah,” Enzo nodded, eyes wide. “I’m so sorry, Y/N. I messed up big time.”
“It’s okay, Enz, I forgive you,” you replied gently. “It was just the weirdest circumstances ever.”
“Guess who didn’t mess up big time, though?” Blaise cut in, grinning as he pointed to himself. “Blaise Zabini, matchmaker extraordinaire!” Daphne promptly swatted him in the back of the head with a pamphlet for the Gobstones team that sat on a nearby end table.
“This did not happen because of you, but in spite of you locking us in a closet for nearly ten minutes,” Tom remarked, glaring at Blaise through narrowed eyes.
“Hey, clearly you made it work,” Blaise retorted, gesturing at your hickies as you stuck out your tongue at him. “Put that tongue back in your mouth, I’m not Riddle.”
“If you’re such a matchmaker, why can’t you matchmake yourself?” Pansy joked, gesturing between Blaise and Daphne. He had the decency to look slightly embarrassed as Daphne flushed.
You relaxed against Tom’s chest as your friends continued to talk and joke. The conversation became progressively more unfollowable as you all finished the last of the liquor, maintaining your tipsy state. Once the bottles were empty, Mattheo Vanished them with ease.
“How is it that you got a T on your Transfiguration OWL, but you can always manage it to get yourself out of trouble?” Tom groaned at his brother, leaning his forehead into his hand in frustration.
“Because I’ve got my priorities straight,” Mattheo replied with a smirk. “We could talk about your indiscretions too, you know.”
“You mean hexing that cheating Ravenclaw bloke?” Tom asked. You glanced up at him in surprise, watching his eyes grow dark for a moment before his face softened as his gaze met yours. “I’d do it again,” he said, turning back to his brother.
“Yuck,” Mattheo retorted, scrunching up his face in disgust. “Thanks for finally showing an emotion, you can go back to the way you were now.”
“Matty!” you protested jokingly, pouting at him. “Don’t you want your brother to be sweet to me?” He grinned.
“Of course I do,” he responded with a chuckle. “Although, quite frankly, I don’t know what you see in him.” Tom frowned. “I just hope he knows that if he ever hurts you, he’s going to get the same beating I was about to give that Ravenclaw.”
“I’m quaking,” Tom retorted dryly. “And unlike some of us, I have no interest in maintaining a list of romantic casualties.” He paused for a moment, his attention occupied as he gently played with the ends of your hair before turning back to Mattheo. “Speaking of which, I hear yours are in such numbers that they’re considering forming a school club for themselves.” Mattheo laughed good-naturedly before making a face.
Your friends talked for a few more minutes, the sentences growing progressively more incoherent as everyone struggled to resist the call of sleep. They began to splinter off, wandering back to the dormitories, as your own eyes fluttered shut. You felt totally at peace until Tom gently shook you awake.
“I’ll just sleep here,” you mumbled and you heard him chuckle as he kissed your forehead.
“No, you’ve got to go sleep in your bed,” he corrected bemusedly. “I’ll tell you what. If you go sleep in your bed for me, I’ll take you out wherever you want in Hogsmeade tomorrow, how does that sound?” Your heart skipped a beat as you sat up quickly. An actual date with the guy of your dreams. He watched you, a grin emerging on his face, as you nodded eagerly.
You barely managed to stay awake for long enough to climb into bed, but as you did, you felt your chest fill with warmth, your mind flashing back to the feeling of Tom’s lips on yours as you closed your eyes. It had been a long, confusing road to get here, but it was so worth it in the end.
He was the one for you.

Word Count: 3.5k
Author’s Note: It’s my first time writing, feel free to give feedbacks & request.
Slytherin common room was quiet on this particular night, saved for the sound of the fire crackling in the fireplace. The room was dimly lit, casting a warm, flickering light on the walls.
Y/N was sitting, peacefully by the fire all on her own until she heard his voice.
“Y/N”
With a look full of hesitation, she stared right into those grey eyes.
Oh, those grey eyes…
“Hey Draco!”
“What are you doing up this late?”
“Nothing, couldn’t sleep.”
“Come on, go to your dorm, don’t make me take any points from my own house.” Draco said, laughing.
“But I can’t sleep.” Y/N responded.
“My friends are such pain in the ass.”Draco whispered.
Yeah, your friend.
Y/N giggled.
Just when they were headed to stairs which led the way to their dorms, a familiar face appeared.
“Oh, hi Theo.” Y/N said to him.
“Oh for Merlin’s sake, this night is never going to end does it?” Asked Draco, looking tired.
“And goodnight to you too, Draco.” said Theo.
“I’m going to the Astronomy Tower, care to join?” Theo asked to both.
“Why not?” Y/N answered, hoping Draco would come.
“As your prefect I should lead you guys to your dorms, but as your friend I could really use a calming time with you guys.” Answered Draco.
Friend. There was that word again.
“Actually, I remembered that I have Snape’s potions in the morning and I could really use some sleep.” Y/N said without knowing why she wanted to get away from them- oh actually, Draco. Poor Theo had nothing to do with it. In fact he was always nice to Y/N, he was always a gentleman.
“As you wish.” Theo said.
“Are you sure?” Draco asked to Y/N.
“Yeah” Y/N answered, forcing a yawn to make believe she is sleepy.
She headed to girls dorm without looking back.
Tumblr media
When she entered into her dorm room, Pansy and Daphne were already sleeping.
She looked at herself in the mirror, wondering why everytime Draco called her “a friend” her heart was shattered into pieces.
Y/N was distant to Draco lately. She was avoiding him at all costs. Whenever they sit together at a class, she would always ignore him, not in an arrogant way but in an cold way. Draco -being the smartest boy Y/N has ever seen- has started to realize this. He has been sensing that Y/N was drawing herself away from him for some time now.
But Y/N was forgetting something, she was the first person for Draco to come when he was feeling down. She was the first person that Draco writes to every summer. She was practically Draco’s closest but he never addressed her anything other than friend.
To him, “Draco and she was friends, nothing more. They just hang in the same group. Y/N was a friend to Draco as much as she was to Theo or Blaise.” Y/N thought to herself.
Y/N wanted to tell Draco how she felt, how she was longing for his touch without knowing how it feels, how she needs him. But there was too much at stake. She could lose Draco forever, she could lose the bond between them forever. So she decided to keep things to herself and keep her distance from Draco.
With so much going on in her head, Y/N went to her bed and fell asleep quickly.
Next morning wasn’t any different than others. The sun was shining into girls shared dorm.
“Oh! I can’t find my tie!” shouted Pansy in a hurry.
“Just check your desk, I saw it there last night.” said Daphne.
“Found it!” Pansy shouted again.
Y/N was still half asleep when Daphne came to her side and reminded her that if she didn’t want detention from Snape, she should be up in a minute.
She got ready in a hurry, causing her to forget her potions book in her dorm.
Girls entered the Great Hall for breakfast.
Tumblr media
“Well, well, well.. If these aren’t the princesses of Slytherin.” Blaise said in a flirty tone.
“Morning.” said Theo.
And a simple smile from Draco.
Y/N smiled to Draco back and rolled her eyes to Blaise.
“Was he always like that?” Y/N asked. “Because if he was, I should really consider my friend choices.” she said in a laughy tone.
“Oh, if you call that a flirting, you should have seen Draco last night in the Astronomy Tower.” Theo said.
Of course, they weren’t alone. Of course, Theo was going to meet up with a girl last night and Draco wanted some company, as well.
“Shut it already Theo.” said Draco.
“Who is it this time Draco?” asked Pansy.
“Yes, tell us who the lucky lady was.” added Daphne.
Y/N was holding her tears back, not only because of Draco’s new girl but also she couldn’t believe how easily Draco affected her. He goes around flirting with other girls and Y/N ends up the one being hurt. How unfair Y/N thought to herself.
Y/N had seen nothing but pure love between her parents. She was raised the best way possible. Indeed, she was a pure blood, she came from a wealthy family - why else would Draco befriend her?- and she was pretty. She could pull of any guy she wanted. Any guy but him.
She could get any guy wrapped around her finger, any guy but the one with the grey eyes.
However, it was kind of funny how she was oblivious to Draco’s feelings. She meant everything to him, he would take her in a heartbeat if she said yes. His whole world revolving around her. Draco was the one to keep his feelings bottled up, that was for sure. But still, the fact that he cares about Y/N more than any other girl was obvious.
“Y/N?” asked Pansy.
No answer.
“Y/N!!??”
“Oh, sorry.” Y/N said.
“But you missed all the fun, Draco couldn’t even remember that girl’s name.” Said Pansy.
And just seconds later, everyone burst into laughter.
“Yeah poor girl must be thinking of Draco right now, but he doesn’t even remember her name.” said Daphne, giggling.
“ For Merlin’s sake! I only flirted with her so Theo could have his time with that girl’s friend.” Draco said in a serious tone staring to Y/N.
“Good boy, aren’t you?” said Y/N in a condescending tone which made Draco angrier.
It was safe to say that Draco stared into Y/N’s soul for a time which felt like an eternity for both.
Only if he knew what Y/N would do to be the one that Draco flirted- even if it is all fake.
“So now it is a staring contest?” asked Blaise laughing.
“No. And I dont even have the time for your - and I mean ALL of you- stupid crushes.” Y/N said.
“What? What crush are you talking about?” asked Draco.
“Shit! I must have left my potions book in my dorm” Y/N said. She was headed for dorm room.
Not long after, Y/N was pulled into an empty classroom.
“WHA-“ Y/N’s shout was interrupted.
“What is wrong with you?” asked Draco.
“I don’t know what you are talking abo-“ she was interrupted again.
“Oh, cut the bullshit already! You ditch on me and Theo last night and you have been off all morning?” asked Draco.
“I- erm- I am really worried about Snape’s class you know?” she lied.
“So this is what it’s all about.” said Draco. “I thought you were mad at me or something.” he added.
“You have been distant lately. It’s like one minute you are the center of the conversation, and you are gone in the next.” Draco said, worried.
“Told you, I have been struggling with potions.”
That was the best I could come up with? She thought to herself. I must be a disgrace to the house of Slytherin.
“I will help you, okay? Meet me in the library after dinner.” said Draco.
“No- I mean you dont have to.” she said.
“No, I need to fix whats bothering my best friend.” Draco winked.
Your WHAT? Now, we are best friends. If there is something worse than being friends with him existed then it would totally be being best friends with him.
“Come on, we need to get to class.” Added Draco.
Tumblr media
Potions was boring for Y/N. Until Snape assigned the homework. A homework which was needed to be done with partners.
“I will assign your partners this time.” said Snape.
“Miss Granger, you are with Mr Longbottom.”
“Miss Y/L/N, you are with…..
“Mr Malfoy” Y/N prayed.
“Mr. Potter.” Snape said.
The anger in Draco’s eyes was visible, if not, it was felt by every single person in class. However, no one dared to state the obvious.
“Oh shit. Now it is getting interesting.” Blaise said to Theo.
“Yeah, just wait till the class is over and Draco starts whining about it.” said Theo.
As Harry walked closer to Y/N, Draco was already watching them.
Y/N and Harry greeted and started to talk about the project.
Whenever Y/N looked to Draco, he was already watching her.
But this time something was different. Draco’s eyes was not filled with the warmth that Y/N was used to see, instead it was filled with something she couldn’t name.
It was jealousy. So much jealousy that he could explode any minute now.
Slytherin group was already gone when Y/N and Potter realized that the class is over. As a matter of fact, everyone was gone and they were alone in the classroom.
“I must have lost the track of time.” said Y/N to Potter.
“Yeah. Seems we both did.” he agreed.
They rushed to outside.
“If Potter is that interesting, you can always go be his friend.” said Draco to Y/N. He has been standing outside the classroom waiting for Y/N, this whole time.
“What? We were just talking about the project.” said Y/N.
“Yeah? That must be the reason you couldn’t care to join your friends when leaving the class.” Draco said, angrily.
“Oh, possesiveness is a trait of yours, isn’t it?” Y/N asked mocking.
“Potter is my red line. Do. Not. Cross. It.” Draco said in the most serious tone possible, grabbing Y/N’s wrist.
“Too bad, he. İs my. Partner” Y/N said jokingly.
Little did they both knew, they had already crossed the red line in each other’s hearts.
Tumblr media
“So, why do I even need to mix these things?”
“Like what on earth am I going to need these potion for?” Y/N asks, pretending to be oblivious to keep her lie going.
“Just try to memorize the ingredients and you will be okay.” Draco assured.
“Okay.” said knowing everything Draco has been telling her since the minute one.
“By the way, I really don’t understand why you stress over potions. You are the smartest witch I know.” said Draco lifting his eyebrows.
“I don’t know, it is not the class that stresses me, it is the professor. Snape is tense, you know?” Y/N shouted another lie.
“What? He is practically one of your father’s best friends. They’ve known each other since they were what? Like 11?” Draco asked.
“Yeah but still, he was always so intimidating.” Was Y/N’s answer.
“Truth to be told, I am his favourite, but you are not so bad yourself.” He said laughing.
“Well, I know he likes us, he is better to us than others.” Y/N said agrreing.
“See? He’s not so bad after all.” Draco said.
Rest of their study session went on as a chat session. Things was always so easy and calming between Y/N and Draco.
“Merlin, I missed talking to you about anything-“ Draco was interrupted by Y/N “Let’s leave, I have to check Gullygum.” Said Y/N, Anything to avoid this confrontation she thought.
“Gullygum? As your cat?”
“Yeah Draco, how many other Gullygums do you know of?” teased Y/N as she was packing her things.
Tumblr media
The night was calm. As they were headed to Slytherin common room together the only sound which can be heard was their footsteps. As they pass by the torches lining the walls, the flickering light casts shadows that seem to dance across their faces. The sound of Draco’s breathing and the rustle of Y/N’s clothing as they walk creates a gentle white noise, as if the whole world has fallen away and it's just the two of them.
“So.” Draco said breaking the silence.
“Now tell me, why have you been so distant lately. And don’t ever think about lying to me because it is obvious you have no problem with classes.” Draco asked.
“Oh for fucks sake Draco, everything is fine. Friends don’t push each other like that.” Y/N stated, emphasizing the word friends.
“Yeah, friends.” whispered to himself Draco. But Y/N didn’t hear a thing for she was so tired with Draco pushing her to confess.
Tumblr media
As the first beams of sunlight filtered through the small windows of the Slytherin dungeons, the house's green and silver shades appeared to come to life.
“Wake up! Today’s the day!” Daphne shouted to Pansy and Y/N.
“What day?” Y/N asked, half asleep.
“Are you serious? You forgot about it?” Pansy asked her.
“About what?”
“About the PARTY YOU SILLY!” Daphne shouted.
Oh, shoot. It’s today! The party which was organized by Daphne and Pansy, the party they couldn’t stop talking about.
The girls were already headed to Great Hall when Y/N was done dressing up.
As usual, the boys of Slytherin was waiting for their princesses at the table.
Pansy and Daphne wouldn’t stop talking about the party, how they have been planning this for weeks if not months.
In the middle of their conversation, an owl dropped a box to Y/N. The box had a letter.
You deserve the world. We love & miss you.
Mom & Dad.
And the letter made Y/N realize how homesick she was. She loved Hogwarts, she loved her friends and she loved her Draco but something about her parent’s letter made her miss her home. Maybe it was how the words they use reminded Mr and Mrs. Y/L/N’s relationship to their daughter. They had something Y/N admired. One day she dreams of having with Draco.
“Will you open it already?” said Blaise.
“Oh, let me just-“ she was interrupted by Pansy.
“OH. MY. GOD.” shouted Pansy.
“THAT MUST HAVE COST A FORTUNE.” said Daphne in a shock.
“This is so nice.” Said Draco.
“Aww, thank you guys. I must write them back as soon as I can.” Said Y/N heading towards the exit of the Great Hall.
“I envy how your father cares about you. I guess it is different when you are a girl.” Says a familiar voice.
“OH- You scared me.” Said Y/N shaking.
“Just cool darling.” Said Draco.
“I got this memory of us kids in my head. When we both fell of our broomsticks how your father ran towards you and mine just mocked me.” Said Draco.
“Oh, Dray, I’m sure you are remembering wrong.” Y/N said.
“Yeah, maybe.” Draco said.
The rest of the day went on as usual, the classes and stuff. In the evening there was a rush in girls dorm. Y/N had already picked her dress and she was getting ready for the party when she heard a knock on the door.
“Do you think you can help me with my tie- WHOA.. You look..erm- pretty.” Said Draco. “Heavenly” he whispered to himself.
“Oh, thank you. Yes I sure can.” Y/N said leaning towards him.
There was an undeniable tension and chemistry between them. Their lips were just inches apart. Draco’s grey eyes were fixated on Y/N’s eyes. The more they stay this close, the more Y/N’s hand shook. This was the closeness they were both longing for. It was almost like Draco didn’t want to let her go. Almost.
“So, I was thinking that we can go to party together since I am already here.” Said Draco.
“Yeah, yeah let me just grab my purse.” Y/N agreed.
Tumblr media
The Slytherin common room was transformed into a grand party hall, decorated with green and silver banners, glittering streamers, and shining orbs that floated above the dance floor. The room was alive with the sound of music, laughter, and clinking of glasses, as the students of Slytherin danced and chatted, all in their finest clothes. The grand staircase leading to the upper levels of the castle provided the perfect stage for the hosts to make their grand entrance, clad in their finest robes and basking in the admiration of their guests. It was a Slytherin party atmosphere unlike any other, full of luxury, power, and excitement.
Draco instinctively put his hand on Y/N’s back, like he wanted to show everyone who she belonged to. Y/N was shivering for she was longing Draco’s touch for some time now.
Not so long after, a group of Slytherins decided to play the game of spin the bottle. Y/N and Draco were among the group, both secretly hoping the bottle would point to each other.
As the game progressed, the bottle spun round and round, landing on various members of the group. Finally, it was Y/N’s turn. The bottle spun and spun, seeming to take forever to come to a stop. When it finally did, it was pointed towards Cedric Diggory, who grinned eagerly.
Without a second thought, Cedric leaned in for a kiss. Y/N closed her eyes, allowing the kiss to happen.
Draco, who had been watching the entire thing with a scowl, could feel his anger about to boil over. He didn't know why he felt so strongly about Y/N , but he did, and seeing her kiss someone else fueled a fire deep within him.
“My turn.” said Blaise eagerly.
“I am going to call it a night.” said Draco not even glancing a side eye to Y/N.
Guilt was growing inside Y/N’s heart. But she didn’t have any choice. It was all a game after all.
Rest of the party was a usual Slytherin party. With the shock of Draco leaving the party so early, Y/N decided to call it a night, as well.
Next morning, Y/N wanted to see if Draco is doing okay. So before heading to Great Hall for breakfast she decided to stop by Draco’s dorm.
Tumblr media
As she knocked on the door, a girl she didn't recognize opened the door of Draco's room.
“Hello?” She asked
“Who is it?” Draco shouted.
“Um-I wanted to-um…” Y/N was stunned. For a moment, she thought she can actually heart the breaking noise of her heart.
Draco came to the door and when he saw Y/N standing, he was frozen. It was clear that he spent the night with this girl.
“We can talk later.” Said Y/n, heartbroken, and jealous at the same time.
She was holding her tears back while walking to Great Hall. Not angry but heartbroken.
Just when she sat to breakfast, she felt a familiar voice approaching.
“Hey, Y/N.” said Cedric.
“Hi Cedric.” said Y/N.
“Is not that the guy she kisses last night?” asked Blaise.
Daphne nodded.
“Can I talk to you in private?” Cedric asked.
“Sure.”
They were headed to the exit of the Great Hall when Y/N felt Draco’s eyes on her when he was walking by.
“So, what is it that you want to ask?” Y/N said.
“I know this might sound ridicolus but I can’t stop thinking about our kiss last night. I was wondering if you would like yo go on a date with me?” “If you would give us the chance to get to know each other better.” Asked Cedric, hesitation can be seen from all over his face.
With the jealousy and broken heart, Y/N didn’t even think for a moment.
“ Yes Cedric.” she smiled.
“Oh, I’m happy now. I will pick you up after dinner tomorrow, so we can go for a drink at Hogsmeade?”
“Sounds like the perfect date.” nodded Y/N.
It clearly was an impulsive decision. It. Clearly. Was. Cedric didn’t even catch Y/N’s attention for once. Except last night, when she had to kiss him. She didn’t had the choice unlike Draco. Draco had the choice to not drag a girl to his dorm.
“What did he want?” Asked Pansy.
“A date.” Y/N answered.
“ A DATE?” Pansy shouted. “Not a chance” she added.
“Actually, I-“ Y/N was imterrupted.
“ Oh no you didn’t” Pansy said.
“ Sure as hell, I did.” Y/N said walking to class.
The next day went on as quickly. Y/N was getting ready for her date when it crossed her mind that she hadn’t seen Draco over a day. For them, it was a record. They were practically inseperable. Not so long ago, at least.
Y/N was headed to Great Hall to meet Cedric when she looked up and saw Draco, Theo and Pansy was sitting by the fireplace just chatting casually.
“Ready for you date?” Pansy asked which caused Draco to look at Y/N angrily.
“What date?” Theo responded.
“Oh, didn’t you hear, she is going on a date with Diggory,” Pansy answered.
“Lucky man got to steal our girl, didn’t he Draco?” Said theo.
Draco didn’t respond, he just nodded. As far as anyone can see, he was devastated.
Tumblr media
As Y/N got back from her date, it was already pass midnight. The castle was so quiet as she walked to the dungeons of Slytherin. Y/N opened the door to the common room, only to find out Draco sitting where she left him hours ago.
The fireplace crackling sound in the midnight echoes throughout the empty Slytherin common room, adding an eerie quality to the scene. The pops and crackles of the fire seem to reverberate off the walls, creating an almost hypnotic rhythm that feels both calming and unsettling.
Did he waited for her to get back from her date?
As he waits, he stares into the flames, lost in thought. The sound of the fire is the only thing that breaks the silence of the room, and it's as if the fire is the only company he has.
The sound of the fire crackling is also a reminder of the late hour, creating a sense of intimacy and secrecy that seems fitting for the moment.
As Draco waits for you to return, the sound of the fire crackling grows softer and more gentle. It's as if the fire is signaling that something new is about to happen, that a new chapter is about to begin.
“I know I messed up.” said Draco in a rather sad voice.
“I know it should have been me who took you on this date.” he added.
The sound of the fire becomes louder and more chaotic, mirroring the rush of feelings that Y/N is experiencing. It crackles and pops, adding a layer of intensity to the moment. The flames seem to grow brighter, casting an orange glow across the room and making everything feel more dramatic.
Despite the chaos of the fire, Draco's words are clear and heartfelt.
“I know it should have been me who gets to call you his girlfriend.” he finally looked up to Y/N who was in a total shock.
“Draco” she whispered.
“I love you, Y/N Y/L/N.” he whispered. “I have always loved you and only you.”
“And I love you Draco Malfoy.” she added. “I have always waited for you and only you.”

Draco: You kidnapped Harry Potter? That’s illegal! And you don't want to go to Azkaban, do you? Pansy: But Draco, what’s more illegal? Briefly inconveniencing Potter, or destroying your dreams? Draco: Kidnapping Potter, Pansy! Blaise: Draco, listen, whatever I may think of you right now- these guys are counting on you to inspire them! Draco: On what? Kidnapping people?! Blaise: To work together! Draco: TO KIDNAP PEOPLE?! Daphne: Draco, we all agreed that a celebrity is not a person! And we did this for you! Draco: YOU KIDNAPPED POTTER FOR ME?! WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?! Daphne: It means you've been obsessed with him since forever, so we finally had enough Pansy: Notice how I said destroying your dreams. You dream on dating Potter since at least our 3rd year, now you have the opportunity! Theo: I tried to stop them, but they insisted you would love the surprise! Draco: *Facepalms* Draco: I think I'll need new friends after that, 'cause you guys are going to Azkaban for sure

Theodore Nott Headcanons
Tumblr media
His favorite color is deep blue
He mainly speaks italian and english but he can also speak french because his mother was French
It brings me to an headcanon that I thought about. I headcanon his mother to be French and after her death, he tried his best to not forget her language because it’s the last thing that connect him to her.
He says his favorite class is Transfiguration, but it’s secretly Muggle Studies because he used to buy muggle things with his mom to see what they were for.
When you’re looking for him, most of the time he’s by the lake on a bench or sat by a tree.
He’s a hatstall because the Sorting hat was hesitating between Slytherin and Ravenclaw
He actually tried being in the quidditch team as a chaser or beater in fourth year, but didn’t like being bossed around by the captain so he quitted
His first crush was Hermione Granger during his third year because he admired her knowledge and how she doesn’t let herself be walked on. His favorite memory about her was how she punched Malfoy in the face
Theodore always thought girls never looked at him, but oh boy he was mistaken…it’s like he’s blind and it took him to accidentally hear his 2 of his friends, Daphne Greengrass and Pansy Parkinson, joking about how many girls wanted him and how their “son” is growing up fast. He still lightly chuckle when he think about this memory.
Not a headcanon but he hangouts with Draco, Blaise, Pansy, Daphne, Mattheo and Enzo. But among them, he prefers being with Pansy and Daphne (he will never say it out loud 💀) because he kinda like how they baby him and tell him all about girls thing. Like I can imagine him randomly being invited to their sleepovers and they put makeup on him, skin care, they gossip ect. He mostly like their inside jokes and how everyone around them is confused. He feels good knowing they’re completely comfortable with him to the point where they change in front of each other because it’s not weird and Pansy says “It’s only weird, if you make it weird”. Outside of the girls, he likes being with Blaise
Talking about his favorite girls, him and the other boys made a pact of protecting the 2 at all cost. None of the girls know about the pact, they just think that as male friends, they act like such by scaring away boys that come near them.
Most people call him Theo, but Pansy and Daphne call him Teddy
HELP I COULD LITERALLY DO A WHOLE POST ABOUT HIM, PANSY AND DAPHNE 😭
But anyways
He’ve always hated his father, Faustus Nott, mostly because he was the one who killed his mom, right in front of him with his fists
He cried after getting the dark mark
He wears rings and got an helix piercing before the seventh year after a drunk evening with Draco, Blaise, Mattheo and Enzo
He’s always making fun of Draco because he cannot run fast to save his life 😭
He’s the one of those that don’t study that often but get good grades
His favorite weather is cloudy/rainy because it finds comfort in them. He loves it the most when it’s pouring outside and he’s in the comfort of his dorm/common room reading a book.
He’s a night owl and goes to sleep at like 3am
His friends and himself are just a big happy family
Theodore is so photogenic!! He doesn’t even know it, but Pansy and Daphne always sneak pictures of him without him knowing and he looks majestic in every single one of them
He swears a lot but not too much yk?
He smokes when he’s preoccupied by something and during Voldemort’s return, he would always have a pack of cigarettes with him
Blaise and him speak in sarcasm most of the time and it’s so funny to watch 😭
I like to think he has a lot of moles/beauty marks on him, especially on his chest
He’s an observer, discreet and pay attention to his surroundings
He’s a good 6 foot 2-3 with long legs and Mattheo always fake-jump with a hand on his heart when he sees him. He calls him slender-man
He has the dead eyes with dark circles under them like he hasn’t slept in a decade
During breakfast he only takes 2 French toast with a cup of either coffee or tea, depends on his mood
His type in girls would be the quiet ones, like him. He likes them shy, maybe a bit nerdy who doesn’t talk a lot. Brunettes, maybe blondes, he doesn’t mind which house she’s in but she must get along well with his friends.
He doesn’t spend much time at his manor anymore, because he wants to avoid his father much as possible. So instead, he basically lives at the Zabini’s, his room is right across Blaise’s. Mrs Zabini loves him as if he was his own and treat him as such. What Theo loves doing is helping her around the house just to hear her say “What a wonderful boy you are!…Take him as an example Blaise!” And how his friends rolls his eyes while doing his best middle finger to Theodore. “Blaise, leave him alone!”
He loves reading, his favorite genres are philosophy because it makes him think and say the same smart sentences to his friends afterwards (especially Mattheo and Draco) even tho they don’t understand a thing he’s saying. He likes the classics, horror and romance (yes I see you coming, he reads smut). When he eventually gets a girlfriend, he does to her the romantic things he have read and say loving things the characters said.
His patronus is an eagle/hawk. No I didn’t do any research, I just can picture him with those kind of bird on his arm yk?🧍🏾‍♀️
He genuinely thought he wasn’t gonna survive the war or be put in Azkaban if he even manages to live. During his seventh year, at night, when everyone was asleep in his dorm, he would write letters to his friends and even wrote his will. He gave his clothes and his things to Blaise. 95% of his money was left for Pansy and Daphne while the rest was for charities and do not be fooled by the 5% because it’s the number still have a lot of zeros in it. He wanted Draco to have his wand, he wanted Mattheo to have his rings because he would catch him looking at them in envy and gave Enzo his owl and books. He wanted to have his portrait in each of his friends’ house so he can visit them whenever he wants.
In a modern Hogwarts, he would listen to Chase Atlantic
He plays the piano and a bit the guitar
He loves poems and write some when he has inspiration, Draco have read one of them when he saw Theo had asleep on it and was curious about what he was writing.

Tumblr media
It was nearly the weekend. You had left Draco a note earlier this week in your usual secret spot to send each other messages but alas you had received no reply. Here you are on a Friday night, on the floor of an empty corridor, staring at a blank stone wall.
“Maybe he just hasn’t checked it yet.”
“Or he’s ignored it.” Your best friend, Theodore, replies.
“Maybe he hasn’t had time to read it alone.”
Theodore sighs, “This isn’t the first time he hasn’t responded to one of your little love notes.”
You toss a pebble your finger found across the hallway, and say, “It’s not his fault that his parents wouldn’t approve of me. He has to keep us a secret even to his circle.”
“Listen.” Theodore puts the book he was reading down to look at you and say, “Your cards are on the table, his are in his hands. Maybe you need to distance yourself. You’re just going to get hurt.”
You ignore Theo and continue to think aloud, “Chances are, tonight, he’s already got plans.”
You shuffle and lie down on his lap while he carries on trying to read his book. You turn your head to look along the corridor. No sign of Draco coming to find you.
“He’s probably at a party. Wasn’t there a friendly game of quidditch with Ravenclaw earlier Teddy?”
“I don’t know.”
“He must be at an after-party or some sort. Do you know if the Slytherins are throwing a party this evening?” You ask, gently moving Theo’s book away from his face.
“I don’t know.”
“You must do. You’re friends, aren’t you?”
“I don’t know.” His tone now has a hint of annoyance, lifting his book up once more.
“Okay then.” You huff. You decide to pick up your book. It wasn’t a rare activity, you and Theo reading together. Not always in the corridor. Often times in your dorm rooms. Often times in the common room. You were fond of each other’s company. It was something you’ve always done since you were children. Mr. Nott used to leave Theo at yours ever since Theo’s mother passed away. Your mother was a governess, and your family had a history of serving the Nott family.
It continued during your acceptance to Hogwarts. You both liked being one of the earliest students for breakfast to have a chance to read and eat and finding a spot in the library devoid of the sound of scribbling quills. The two of you sometimes even stay during the winter holidays as it was a lot more peaceful and merry than being at home.
You read in silence for a chapter and began talking again where you left off.
“Chances are he is at a party, and you know he hates it when I show up. Says it distracts him.”
Theodore groans.
And chances are you will talk yourself to sleep again.

It was the next morning and there you were in the great hall. Preparing tea for Theo and yourself. Theo instinctively passes you the sugar bowl.
“What are your plans for today then?” He asks as he pours a splash of milk into your cup.
“I’m not sure yet. We do have that essay due for History of Magic on Tuesday.” You say as you hear a group of people joining your table.
“Morning Nott.” Draco says as he sits down opposite you. He greets you a good morning by nodding your way.
“Good morning, Draco.” Your eyes quickly flicker up and down from him to your breakfast trying not to look Draco in the eyes. You could never look at the silver pair for too long and not blush, so you best kept your glancing to a minimum when you’re in a group setting. You find it difficult as you are sat directly opposite him.
Draco gestures to the sugar bowl next to your teacup and asks you, “Pass me the sugar.”
You feel your cheeks getting hot as his hands brushes against yours as you hand him his requested item. It’s little moments like this that make you forget when he fails to seek you out that week. You are reminded of his little nickname of ‘sweet thing’ for you during secret rendezvous in vacant classrooms.
Throughout breakfast, Draco chats normally to his crowd. Occasionally you see him with his eyes on you and you lock gazes for no longer than two seconds before looking away. His leg touches yours now and then.
He gives you just enough attention like this in public to keep your hopes too high. What’s more, is that you get these wishful thoughts that these moments could be longer and known by everyone. But wishful thoughts forget to mention when something's really not right and you will block out these voices of reason in your head.
And the voices say, ‘You are not the exception. You will never learn your lesson.’
You shake your head, physically shaking these voices out of your head.
“You okay?” Theodore asks.
You assure him and yourself that you are, with a weak smile.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Later that day you briskly walk towards the loose stone that is your ‘Draco mailbox’ and pry it off, but like the day before: still nothing.
You hear a voice in your head telling you, ‘Foolish one. Stop checkin' your mailbox for confessions of love that ain't never gonna come. This will not end well. You will take the long way down.’
He knows how to keep you waiting. He did mention something about a group hang earlier during breakfast. Nevertheless, you know better than to show up when you weren’t directly invited. That happened one time during Summer last year when his group decided to celebrate finishing their O.W.L.s, and later that day Draco raised his voice at you in a broom closet for showing up uninvited claiming that the group might see it as suspicious. He, of course, apologised for shouting when he saw tears in your eyes, but you never got a single letter from him during the two-month break.
Yes, it’s best if you just waited for him to answer with a time and date. You sigh and walk to the library. You politely ask Madam Pince for a quill, ink, and parchment. She clicked her tongue at your lack of equipment but let you off this time since you are a prefect, and this was the first time you came to the library unprepared. With your head down you walk over to find the textbook you needed and sit at the nearest empty table.
You hear the stool next to you move and see a smiling Theodore.
“This seat taken?”
You shake your head, and he sits down. You continue to flip the book to a relevant page but don’t see that Theo was scanning your demeanour. His eyebrows furrowed. ‘This could only mean one thing’, he thought to himself.
As if you could sense Theodore’s next question, you turn to him with a smile pasted on your face, “I am fine Teddy! Stop looking at me like that!”
You feign a giggle. You know how to act like you’re fine. You change the conversation and the afternoon felt lighter. Whispered jokes and snickers were exchanged for hours between you and the boy with the chestnut hair. It was always like that with Theo. He always knew how to brighten up your day.
“Well thank you, Teddy. Now it’s nearly curfew and I’ve only written less than half a parchment.”
“Hey! You’re the one distracting yourself. I’ve written at least one piece.” You roll your eyes, grinning at Theodore tickling your nose with his quill. That’s when you see the scene. Draco walked past hand in hand with a red-faced Pansy Parkinson. Your eyes meet with Draco, and he quickens his pace out of your vision.
“That worthless pile of erumpent dung!” Theo curses. He knew this whole thing between you and Draco was wrong in the first place, but he never voiced his opinion so as to not come across as jealous. Merlin knows how Theo was, and is, very green and is slowly rotting on the inside.
But he loves seeing you beam when you talk about your dates, that he tunes out the details of your escapades and absorbs the beautiful shade of pink flush on your cheeks and glimmer in your eyes. At this moment in time, however, his heart aches at the sight of the scarlet pout of your lips and your eyes welling up. “I thought you two were on the same page of exclusively dating!”
“We… never actually agreed on anything like that. I… I don’t know what to call this situation.” You quickly roll your homework and inhale deeply to keep the tears at bay. There must be an explanation for the sight you had just witnessed.
‘But I know I can’t call you mine. So, I will grit my teeth and I will do my best to seem bulletproof.’ At the thought, another inhale, you suggest, “How about a butterbeer break?”
And Theodore can’t say no to that.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
That evening you couldn’t help but walk along the hallway you know like the back of your hand.  By instinct, you stop at the stone and spot that it was a little ajar.
‘Meet me at the boathouse at Midnight. - D’
There it was. You feel an emotion somewhere between merry and misery. You settle for nauseous and blame it on the six butterbeers you consumed earlier at the Three Broomsticks with Theo. You decide to start walking there now. A few hours of fresh air could be good. Yes. A breath of crisp autumn air is what you need to expel this uneasiness in your chest.
“You’re early.” You hear when you reached the doorway of the boathouse. Draco sat at the edge of the ledge, his bare feet in the water.
“I could say the same thing to you.” A little bitterness in your pitch.
He pats the space adjacent to him and you sit cross-legged. The air is cold and the rippling waters in front of you hypnotise your heartbeat to calm down.
You both start to say something, then cut each other off to ask the other to continue.
“It’s not what you think.” Draco pauses. “What you saw earlier in the library. Pansy threatened to tell my father about the secret girl I was seeing and that I was to take her to Hogsmeade and buy her all the sweets she wants from Zonko’s.”
He reaches for his robes.
“Here. I got this for you.” He passes you a bag wrapped with a ribbon. “Sweet things for my sweet thing.”
You thank him as you accept his gift. You start munching on the sweets and offer him some.
“Does she know it’s me?” Your voice is a little too wishful than you hoped it would come out.
“No! Thank Merlin! My father will have my head if he hears I’m not seeing a pureblood.”
It hurts a little when you hear him explain time and again why you have to be a secret. But it doesn't bother you as much 'cause when your head is on his shoulder, it starts thinkin' he'll come around. And maybe, someday, when you’re older, this is something you'll laugh about, over coffee every mornin' while he’s reading the news.
You and Draco stay in the boathouse, telling each other what you were up to during the holidays, aiming candy at each other’s mouths, holding hands, and giving the other soft kisses in the light of the moon until it’s a little too cold and too late to continue.
“When can I see you next?” You ask.
He lets go of your hand as you reach the entryway.
“I’ll let you know.”
You nod and walk to your dorm. You were sure that you were going to see Draco again in hushed hours like this one.
But then the voices say, ‘You are not the exception. You will never learn your lesson'
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Throughout the week, you were too preoccupied with checking for a note from Draco and stealing glances here and there that you fail to notice that your duo had become a trio. Daphne Greengrass had been hanging around you and Theo recently and you only are aware of her presence at this moment when your usual quiet bookworm is talking during breakfast, but not to you.
“It’s the first match of the season later. Would you like to watch the Quidditch in the afternoon with me?” Daphne suggests, her hand reaching for Theo’s arm.
“Sure.” The boy replies.
“Who are you and what have you done to my Teddy?” You laugh, “We have never watched a single game!”
It was true. Even if Draco was on the Slytherin team and invited you to watch once, since most of the school attends it anyways, you refused given that you and Theo had a tradition of having a picnic and playing Scrabble by the Black Lake. You two were never interested in sports.
“You’re more than welcome to join us.” Daphne proposed. You realise her hand was still on Theo’s arm and this somewhat makes you frown.
“Theo and I already have plans.” You stated, now reaching for his other arm, “Don’t we Teddy?”
“We can do that tomorrow instead. I am quite curious as to what all the fuss is about, aren’t you?”
“But we have never cancelled our… plans before. Even that one time you had a cold, you insisted we hang out. It’s our tradition.”
“I don’t mean to impose. If you’re busy Theo, we can hang out at Hogsmeade in the evening instead.” She says, her hand still lingering on Theo’s arm, so you have an urge not to move yours either.
“We can do both.” He accepts and his head turns to you, “Are you coming with us?”
You don’t know what to say. A swirl of emotions runs through your veins.
“No.” And with that, you stomp off to your dorm.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
You saw Theo less and less that week and you start to spend more time with your dorm mates. You start to miss him. He wasn’t as early to breakfast every day and when he was, Daphne and other Slytherins came in with him. Your study meetings turned into group hangs but you didn’t mind it as much you said to yourself since Draco was part of that group.
However, your eyes were not gazing upon the blond boy but at the chestnut hair boy with his newfound friend.
Why didn’t you like Daphne with Theodore?
You made an effort to look away when you see him smiling at her. You felt your teeth clench whenever Daphne playfully slapped Theo’s arm when she was laughing at something he said. Your hands were in fists when she linked her arm with his when you all walked from class to class.
You don’t understand what you are feeling. You can’t be jealous about your best friend being interested in other girls. You decide you were just feeling a little replaced. That was it, and nothing more. Right?
But what really blew your top was what you were hearing now.
“Yeah, we can go watch the quidditch game tomorrow.”
“Again?” You exclaim but then remembered you were in the library and carry on with a whisper, “You’ve cancelled on me the last game!”
“Oh yeah” Theo replies as if he didn’t remember. When in all honesty, he never did forget. He was trying to distance himself away from you to lessen the aching of his heart.
“Teddy you can’t do this to me.”
“How about I make it up to you by taking you to the last Hogsmeade trip and buying you all the sweets you want so you can stock up for the winter break.” He smiles and when you smile back, he forgets about his vow to himself to spend less time with you.
You hesitate to say yes. You really want to be with him by the lake.
“And I’ll even let you drag me around to window shop to all the places you want me to.”
And you can’t say no to that.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Amidst all the happenings, you had forgotten to check your mailbox. You see a scrap of paper telling you to meet at the boathouse once again at midnight and this time you choose to be punctual. You dress up a little to make up for the fact that you might have already missed the actual date the note was meant for.
You are already on the steps going down to your meeting place when the clock chimes 12 o’clock. A chill runs through your body as you were not wearing your winter jacket but a cute, albeit thin, jumper. You were walking with a skip in your step when you hear her.
“Draco, what about your secret girl?”
“She means nothing to me. It’s not like we were going to get serious.”
You halt just before the entryway.
“But weren’t you dating her since last year?”
“Dating is a strong word. Now shut up so I can kiss those lips.”
So you run. As fast as your feet can take you and go into the nearest empty room.
Now you’re slidin' down the wall with your head in your hands sayin', "How could I not see the signs?"
He hadn't written you or called all summer and the voices in your head are tellin' you why,
‘He’s got her on his arm and you in the wings. You’ll get his longing glances, but she'll get his ring. And he will say he had the best of intentions.’
And maybe now you will finally learn your lesson.
The air feels thick that you can’t breathe and your vision blurs with the waterworks flowing out of your tear ducts.
Draco was right. You were never going to get serious. You knew this deep down and felt it in your heart every time you were with him, but the truth hurts when the reality of it all is said aloud.
When you finally get to your room at 3am. You don’t bother to change and sleep your troubles away.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
You skipped lessons that day. You hadn’t meant to, but you woke up past noon and there were only two lessons left that you resolved to miss those too and went back to sleep. You weren’t ready to face people yet.
A pounding in your head awakens you and makes you sit up and reach for your water bottle by your bedside table but see a plate of pastries covered in cling film and a note stuck on top.
‘I didn’t see you at breakfast. I asked your dorm mate to send this to you. – Teddy’
That was sweet of him. Theo never fails to be there when it counted. You notice more items on your bedside table. You see a thermos flask, a book, a wrapped-up sandwich, a couple of more notes, and a red concoction in a small vial that was labelled ‘pepperup potion’.
‘I didn’t see you in class, so I asked Alison to drop this off to you. She said you didn’t look too well. I’ll see you at lunch? – Teddy’
‘I didn’t see you at lunch. Alison said your eyes looked puffy. Do you have a cold? If so I asked her to bring you some supplies. Make sure to take it. I’ll see you after class? – Teddy’
‘I don’t know why I thought I’d see you in any of the afternoon lessons today. How silly of me. I need to sort out a few things and I’ll see you before dinner. – Teddy’
You giggle at how much effort your best friend had gone towards to ensure you are okay. The clock above the doorway says 5 o’clock. Only an hour after classes and Teddy will probably expect you around 5:45pm so you can lounge about the courtyard before dinner time.
However, you felt famished, so you open the selection of breakfast pastries. Theo had picked out all your favourites. He’s always thoughtful like that. One time, you had mentioned your favourite book series with him and within the week he read all of them and bought you both the newly released novel by the same author so you can read it together.
Another time when you used to have recurring nightmares when you were little, you’d go to Theo and he’d read you passages from fairytales until you fell asleep. When you broke your foot during the second year, he insisted that he carried all your books to and from classes even though a simple levitation charm would do, and walk in front of you so no one barges you causing you to trip.
You really don’t know what you’d do without Theodore in your life.
You hear a knock on the door.
“Alison you can come in. You don’t need to knock.”
The door creaks open.
“I’m not Alison.” Theodore peeps in, his eyes on the ceiling. “Can I come in?”
“Of course. Thank you for your care package.” You move to make room for him on your bed.
“Of course. Couldn’t have you starve yourself.” He looks to your bedside table and states, “You didn’t drink the potion I made for you. It’s supposed to clear up your cold.”
He stood there by the end of your bed, his hands behind his frame. He looks cautiously at you.
“I’m not ill.” You assure him.
“Good, because…”  He raises a basket and a tote bag. “I’ve brought us Scrabble and a picnic.”
“But aren’t you going to see the match with Daphne?”
“Not when my favourite girl isn’t feeling well.”
You smile up at him. “But I told you I’m not unwell.”
“Physically maybe but I think you need some fresh air. Now go get ready. I’ll wait outside the door.”
“I really am okay.”
You assure him and yourself that you are, and you truly do feel it.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Your normal routine before Draco came into your life fell back into place, although Theodore was hanging out with Daphne more and more, which still annoyed you. Theo did make some time for you but not as much as you’re used to. You sigh. Breakfasts no longer consisted of silently reading, occasionally speaking to discuss plot points and characters, but with Daphne and the rest of the Slytherin crowd rowdily talking.
You hadn’t spoken to Draco at all ever since that night at the boathouse. He never even addressed it. Not that you checked the mailbox. If he really cared he would have said something by this point, but judging by his actions and the words you heard that night, you had accepted weeks ago that whatever was between you was over.
“So, what are we all doing for the last trip to Hogsmeade today then?” Draco asks, but his eyes lock with yours.
“I’m having tea and shopping with the girlies.” Daphne wriggles her shoulders excitedly. She looks to you and extends an invitation.
To which you thank her but decline politely, “Teddy promised me a full weekend of sweets and shopping. Isn’t that right Teddy?”
You aren’t sure if it is your imagination, but you see a twinkle in Theo’s eyes as he beams at you confirming your plans. You put your arm through his and squeeze it in excitement.
Theo chuckled. “I already regret adding the window-shopping part.”
You head to your dorm to pick up your cardigan as Theo insisted you needed more layers for the winter weather. A figure stops you in your tracks.
“Didn’t know you had a thing for Nott.” Draco sneered.
“Not really your business to know who or who I don’t have a thing for Malfoy.”
He grabs your hand and pulls you to the side.
“What do you think you’re doing?” You try to shrug off his hand, but he wasn’t letting go.
“What happened to us? I thought we were dating, and you left me hanging for weeks.”
“Dating is a strong word.” You spit his words back to him like venom.
That’s when he releases your hand.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Your day with Theo went by so fast. You started off at Zonko’s so you can graze snacks while you peruse through each shop. Theo swears you haven’t skipped any stores but doesn’t complain at all. The conversations flowed easily. You stayed the longest time at the pets and familiars shop to pet all the kittens. He literally had to drag you away with a bribe of pumpkin pie for lunch.
Many days have gone by where you spent time away from each other. Reasons varied as Theo tells you he was busy with whatever excuse he had that day. You noticed that he’d been avoiding you recently. You’re glad that you get to make up for all those hours now.
You share a slice of pumpkin pie and beg Theo to take you back to the pets and familiars shop. He rolls his eyes, but you know he can’t refuse the thought of the adorable kittens. Little do you know that it’s your cuteness he can’t resist.
The two of you start to walk onward to your mission when you see a glimpse of Draco hand in hand with a red-faced Pansy. You knew it. But strangely, you find yourself not upset by it.
“Theo! They still have our favourite!” You jump up and down like a child outside a toy store.
He watches you smiling as you all but ran into the store. You remain surrounded by kittens until a shop assistant ushered you out at the behest of their manager. Reluctantly you say goodbye to the animals and staff and are shocked to see that the sky was magenta-coloured, signalling that the evening is arriving.
“I’m hungry, are you?” You inspect all the choices of venue you had for dinner.
“Starving. Let’s go in there.” He gestures toward Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop. “I heard they have a great selection of drinks and desserts.”
You follow Theo even though you seem to recall that other students have previously mentioned that they take their dates there. Having never visited since Draco was the first boy you have “gone out with”, and your meetings never involved crowded places and three would have been a crowd, you were excited to finally step into the dainty looking café.
He opens the door for you and a bell rings. You were seated straight away, and it didn’t take long for a staff member to take your order. Examining the people around, you notice a trend of couples holding hands and gazing into one another’s eyes. Did Theo really mean to take you in here?
Detecting your initial discomfort, Theo apologises, “I didn’t know it would be like this here. We can leave if you want?”
“Nonsense! It’s a nice place. Plus, I’m excited for my drink to arrive.” Grinning at him, you take in the view of bows and lace everywhere.
Even though the atmosphere was romantic, you felt at ease being there with Theo. You push back questions you had whenever you sense that his eyes were trying to read your thoughts or when his hand stayed on yours longer than friends should.
He orders a funfetti cake for dessert and you both split each other’s sweet course. Before you know it, it was nearly time to head back to the castle. Another ring of the bell and you were standing in front of the entrance.
You shiver slightly and Theo quickly unwraps his scarf.
“Teddy I’m fine!”
“No, you’re cold. Don’t argue.” He wraps his green scarf around your neck. You inhale the scent of smoke and sandalwood. You bury your cheeks into the scarf to hide the pink colour threatening to expose how much you like the fact you are enveloped by a piece of his clothing.
“I guess it’s time to head back.” You say but see Theo looking distracted.
You look up to see a mistletoe wrapped with a ribbon on the pole of the tea shop’s sign.
He looks at you and tilts his head. Was that him asking for permission?
You shrug then nod at him. “It’s a known tradition after all.”
“Of course.”
Theo leans in close enough so that the clouds you exhale from your lungs mingle in the air. He moves a strand of loose hair and tucks them behind your ear. His hand stays on your face and his eyes flicker down to your lips. You close the gap between you.
You are kissing Theo under the mistletoe.
At first, the kiss is gentle as if he is being wary of the line you were crossing, but when you reach to run his hair with your hands, he pulls you in deeper. You gasp for air, and he takes it as an opportunity to explore you with his tongue.
Thoughts pull you back to reality.
You are kissing Theo under the mistletoe.
Stepping back, you stare at him wide-eyed.
“I have to go.” You say breaking the silence.
And you didn’t see how Theodore’s eyes follow you.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
You didn’t actually have to go anywhere; you just needed some space to cool down. Your cheeks were burning red, and you didn’t want Theo to see you like that. Especially since he only kissed you because of the mistletoe. Especially since you enjoyed kissing him. Especially when the voices in your head are back saying, ‘Foolish one you will take the long way down.’
This time you don’t want to learn the hard way. You can’t be falling for him like this. You didn’t want to lose him if it goes sour.
“You’ve been walking in circles.” Theo calls out to you, “Where are you trying to go?”
You stop your feet but don’t turn back to face him.
“I was just heading to…” Your voice fades out to a mumble, and you begin to walk once more.
Theo lightly grasps your arm, and you jump at how fast he caught up to you. You face him.
“You never said anything.” He states.
“It was just a kiss. We were just under a mistletoe.” You look down, kicking the pebbles near your feet.
“You never said anything.” You echo.
“Yeah, we were just under a mistletoe.”
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
The last week of term dragged on. Theo and you never mention that night to anybody. And if it was even possible, you saw him less than the week before. You are determined to fix your situation. The past two days were unbearable. So, you corner him on his way to the library.
“Why are you ignoring me, Teddy?” You simply question.
“I’m not.”
“Yes, you are. You keep avoiding me in the halls and speaking monosyllabically to me in class. Why?”
“I’m not.”
“You are. We’re friends, aren’t we? Can’t you tell me what’s wrong?” You ask, gently moving his arm and motioning him to face you.
“Maybe I want more.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re so blind, you can’t even see that I’ve been right here! In love with you since I could remember.”
“Your father would never approve of me.”
“I don’t care. I don’t care what he thinks. I don’t care about your blood status! I accept you for who you are! But waiting all these years for you to see me like I see you have been crushing my heart slowly.”
You stare at him wide-eyed.
“I have to go.” He says.
And it’s your turn to follow Theo with your eyes.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
You couldn’t sleep at all that night replaying Theo’s confession. You think about all the ways you could have responded and use that moment as a chance for you to voice out your growing feelings. Now he probably despises you.
You recite how you were going to confront Theo for the next day, word for word since you want to accurately tell him that you reciprocate his sentiment. But toss and turn again at the thought of what-ifs.
You get up early and ready yourself for the day mentally. You don’t grab any breakfast because you already felt so queasy. The voices in your head say to you, ‘Foolish one The day is gonna come for your confessions of love.’
This time you were in harmony. You were going to tell Theo everything. How foolish you had been. How you can’t imagine life without him. You head to his dorm room as you know it’s typically empty at this time of the morning and Theo habitually returns to his dorm just after breakfast to put down his books.
You had 2 free periods back-to-back on a Thursday morning, so you have ample time to gush about your feelings. You spot that his door was slightly ajar and knock anyways. The force swings the door slowly open. The room was empty. You sit on Theo’s bed and look around. You notice a few crumpled-up pieces of paper in the bin next to his nightstand.
Curiosity got the better of you as you unwrinkle one piece and gasp when you notice it was addressed to you. You pick up more pieces and all of them are confessions to you, describing how he felt during the day he wrote them. All this time you were waiting for confessions of love and thought they were never going to come, and there they were sitting in a pile of rubbish.
All signed off as:
Yours,
Teddy
Could he be? Yours?
You run to the Slytherin common room and don’t see Theo anywhere. You spot Blaise playing chess with Tracey.
“Have you seen Theo?” You interrupt them.
“He’s gone on a date with Daphne.” Tracey replies, focused on her match as Blaise’s bishop takes her knight.
He can’t. Be yours.
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
It was the last day of the first term, and you sit at your usual far corner of the great hall for breakfast. No Theodore in sight. You set up extra early since you left him a note by his bedside table the day before to meet him at 6:30 when the meal starts.
There he was. Your note is in his hands and you watch him as he walks to you and knits his brows.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, a little worried.
He sits opposite you instead of his usual spot next to you. You bring your hands above the table and show his letters in your hand.
“This. This is what’s wrong.”
“Look I…”
You cut him off. “Why didn’t you send them?”
He stares at you blankly and scratches his head. “What do you mean send them?”
“You fool. I would’ve walked out sooner and run to you.”
“I didn’t think you felt the same way. That’s why I threw them out. You didn’t come to me to talk after what happened in the hallway and you never brought up the kiss again.”
You blush at the memory.
“How did you get those anyways?” His eyes narrow.
“Never mind about that. Didn’t you hear me?”
“Hear what?”
“You’re really going to make me say it?”
“Say what?”
After hours of rehearsal, you could only utter 5 words. “I feel the same way.”
He beams for a second and then frowns to ask,
“What about Draco?”
“When all is said and done, he just wasn’t the one.”
His smile returns and you swear it’s brighter than the morning sun. He reaches over and holds your hand and tells you, “I don’t know how long I’ve waited for you to say those words.”
He pulls you over the table knocking over the goblet and food that had appeared and pecks you on the lips.
“What about Daphne? Aren’t you with her?”
“No, she just wasn’t the one.”

You've reached this far! Here's a bonus:
It was Christmas day and you were in the great hall ready for the feast, dressed in a sweater Theo bought you so that you can match on this occasion. In one hand you have Theo and in the other a carefully wrapped present and you sat next in your self-assigned corner of the room.
"Let's pull a cracker!" You say eagerly.
And soon both of you adorn paper crowns on your head.
"Dinner doesn't start for another 15 minutes" He informs you.
You pout replying, "So why did you rush me out of my dorm so quickly?"
"So I can give you this." He places a fairly large box in front of you.
"Thank you, Teddy!" You tilt your head when you notice holes all around the box. "What's up with the holes?"
"Just open it." He excitedly insists.
"Okay okay. Thank you." You undo the ribbon and take off the lid. You squeal as you spot the kitten you had been eyeing at the store that evening of what you both have agreed to be your first date.
"I can't thank you enough! I love her so much." You carefully lift the kitten out of the box to cuddle her.
"Anything for you darling. What are you going to name her?"
⳾*⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*❀⑅*⳾
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it <3 I didn't plan to write it this long. I hope you didn't mind.
I welcome any feedback or criticism.

Lessons in Love
(Or why Enzo should be banned from advanced potion making)
Theodore Nott x Ravenclaw Reader
Summary: Ft. Enzo being bad at potions, the Ravenclaw common room door, and more than one accidental love confession.
word count: 3.3k
Tumblr media
A deep sigh escapes your lips as you walk purposefully through the empty halls of the castle. You loved Enzo. Really, you did. But how that bastard had managed to squeeze enough O.W.Ls out of his arse to get into advanced potion making was absolutely beyond you.
It’s not that you thought your childhood best friend was dumb per se. You simply thought his talents lay elsewhere. Like in herbology. Or anywhere really where adding a pinch too much powdered moonstone didn’t result in a glittery pink potion exploding all over the front of your robes. This never would have happened of course, if your usual, equally talented, potions partner, Theodore Nott, had actually bothered to show up, but god only knew where that boy had wandered off to.
Walking into classes earlier that day you had been giddy with excitement. While potions may not have been Enzo’s forte, it was most definitely yours and advanced potions was finally giving you the challenge you had been craving. Amortentia, your professor had said, is the strongest love potion in the world, thereby making it exceptionally difficult to brew. You already knew this of course as it had all been detailed in the days readings. Not only would it make someone obsessively in love, but it also had an addictive scent, changing to fit what one was most attracted to. Now that was all well and good until one was covered in it.
Originally, you figured that all would be fine. Enzo profusely apologized, quickly following up with a joke about how “at least you’ll smell nice for once.” But oh how right he’d been. It started with students accidentally bumping into you in the corridor as you went from class to class as they subconsciously leaned in to follow the alluring scent. A minor inconvenience you thought. (Although you did have to choose to ignore that third year almost getting impaled on a statue’s sword because he wasn’t paying attention after you passed.)
But then Cho and Marietta couldn’t stop leaning in to get a whiff of the scent all throughout the start of charms, causing Flitwick to continuously shoot concerned glances at the three of you. You eventually caved, moving quickly and silently to the back of the class room where Enzo was sat with the rest of the Slytherins. As soon as he saw you making your way over, he leaned over, whispering something in Daphne’s ear beside him. She gives you a quick look of knowing pity before moving into the empty seats usually claimed by Theodore and Matteo who were, unsurprisingly, still no where to be found.
“For what it’s worth, I really am sorry,” Enzo mumbles, at least having the decency to look embarrassed as you plop into the seat beside him.
“This is horrible! I did not need to know that Marietta’s amortentia smells like bloody Cormac McLaggen or whatever his name is,” you hiss in response.
Enzo lets out a quiet chuckle, sneaking a quick glance at your house mate.
“Hey,” he whispers after a moment, “What do you smell anyway? You must be going mad having that stuff all over you.”
You shoot a glare at your friend. You had a sinking feeling he already knew, considering he had been poking fun at you for weeks. You shudder remembering all those disgusting kissy faces Enzo had been making at you from across the library just last week. Bloody bastard was fishing for confirmation. Maybe if you ignore him, he’ll simply go away you think to yourself. Enzo however, takes your silence as an admission of guilt, a grin spreading across his face.
“I knew it. So tell me y/n, what does dear Theodore Nott smell like? Cigarette smoke? Hippogriff dung?” He snickers.
“He is my best friend, Lorenzo,” you whisper, giving the boy beside you another withering glare.
Enzo’s face falls at this.
“I’m your best friend.” He grumbles.
“I don’t know why. You’re mean to me,” you reply with exasperation.
He immediately perks up again at this, giving you a slight nudge.
“So I’m right? You do like Theo?” He asks excitedly.
“Enzo, I will avada you, and make it look like an accident,” you hiss in response.
“Come on, y/n, I’m your best friend, you have to tell me these things,” he pouts.
“Oh really? Like how you have to tell me about how you’re probably smelling Daphne’s shampoo right now? Or is it her lavender perfume?” You ask innocently, batting your lashes.
Enzo goes beet red at this, gesturing wildly at you to lower your voice.
“Hush woman! She’s right there!” He hisses.
You say nothing, only giving him a triumphant grin before turning back to Flitwick to try to salvage what few notes you’d been able to take down that lesson.
The final straw occurred during ancient runes when poor, unsuspecting Hermione sat down behind you and asked with a look of bewilderment if you had been showered with Draco’s cologne that morning. Her look of absolute horror only grew as you told her of your distressing situation. You thought she might faint when she realized that Draco had been within earshot and now had a shit eating grin on his face. With a sigh of defeat, you give Hermione an apologetic smile before deciding it was time to turn in the white flag of defeat.

You breathe a heavy sigh of relief as you finally come to a stop outside your common room door. You then frown, realizing you had in fact, made it to your common room door.
“What makes a raven like a writing desk?” The metallic voice of the Ravenclaw common room door asks, springing to life.
This putrid, skanky little-
“You wouldn’t want me to shove either of them up your ars-“
A low whistle catches your attention before you’re able to finish cursing out your common room’s door thoroughly.
“Whoa there feisty, let the eagle be,” Theo’s voice laughs as he steps into view.
The strong scent of roasted coffee beans and smoke that had been burning your nostrils all day hits you once again like a ton of bricks. Giving the eagle another withering glare, you turn your full attention to the looming threat approaching. You would sooner throw yourself off of the astronomy tower than let Theo know that your amortentia smelled like him. Someone had to keep the boy’s bloody ego in check.
“Full offense Theodore, I’ve had a horrendously awful day today, and I really don’t have time for whatever nonsense you’re about to start.” You say with a roll of your eyes as you cross your arms at the boy in front of you.
Theo laughs again, mirroring your movements as he leans against one of the pillars lining the halls.
“Poor principessa. Have a hard day in classes without me?” He asks with a smirk.
You scowl in response. It didn’t help that you had, in fact, missed the brunette’s comforting, albeit annoying, presence all day, but you weren’t about to admit that.
“Now that you mention it, I didn’t even realize you were missing. What snake hole did you slither off to today?” You ask, the lie sliding easily off your lips.
Theo cocks as eyebrow at that but leaves it be.
“Matteo wanted to ditch, had to baby sit. Make sure he didn’t get into too much trouble. You know how it goes,” Theo replied shrugging his shoulders. “And what’s a pretty little witch like yourself doing skiving off class?”
Theo takes another step forward.
“Don’t come closer!” You yelp before you can stop yourself. You had no interest knowing what Theo would smell if he got close enough. He frowns at you however.
“And why not?” He challenges, taking another step towards you. This boy really did not take well to being told what to do.
“I- I smell. Really bad. Had to leave class, I just- ya know, smelled, so bad” You splutter, mentally kicking yourself. Who says that in front of the guy they like? Why were you like this?
Theo’s thick brows shoot up at your declaration before he takes a final large step towards you and leans in, pressing his hand against your forehead before moving it down to feel your cheek.
“Y/n are you ill? Do you need to go see Madam Pomfrey? I can walk you there if you’d like.” He says, any bit of snark his voice previously held long gone.
“I’m fine Theodore, really.” you say, batting his hand away.
“Are you sure?” He asks, looking at you disbelievingly.
He leans in again and takes in a whiff of your scent and you immediately tense, freezing where you are. God damn it. His brows furrow.
“Y/n, you smell perfectly normal, maybe a bit stronger than usual, but definitely not bad.” He says, looking even more confused.
Before you’re able to fully process the words that just came out of Theo’s mouth, Enzo and Pansy come barreling down the hall towards the two of you in a fit of giggles.
“Y/n! y/n, you know I’m sorry, really I am, but if dousing you in amortentia is all it takes to get Draco and Granger to make complete fools of themselves in front of each other, I’d do it again!” Enzo exclaims between breathy laughs. “You haven’t seen ferret boy run past, by chance, by the way have you?
“Sorry, amor-what now?” Theo asks, blinking as he purses his lips.
You look between the three of your friends in alarm, praying no one mentioned anything after Theo had just announced that you smelled perfectly normal to him.
“Oh, you’re going to wish you were there! After you left, Draco was so pleased with himself. Looked like a kid on Christmas. Kept trying to flirt with Hermione until she finally sent a flock of doves to run him out of the classroom! Professor wasn’t too happy bout that one. Let us go early to find the blonde loon,” Enzo says, completely ignoring Theo’s question.
“I’m sorry, amor-WHAT?” Theo asks again, louder this time.
You feel yourself cringe.
“Amortentia.” Pansy snorts. “Do try and keep up Teddy.”
“This is what you get for always skiving off class with Matteo,” Enzo adds, nodding at the boy as if he were his disappointed mother.
“Mhmm. Enzo totally floozied over y/n’s potion this morning. Blew it up all over her and she’s been having people wander up to her to take a sniff all day.” Pansy tells him with a sniff.
Theo blinks again before slowly meeting your eyes as what he said only moments earlier begins to sink in. Pansy, ever the cunning witch, was lightening quick to catch on.
“Speaking of which, I am suddenly so interested in what exactly it is that you smell, dearest Teddy,” Pansy says as her eyes flicker between the two of you, a mischievous grin growing on her face.
Theo scowls at the nickname.
“Campfire.”
“Old parchment.” You say in unison.
Pansy smirks.
“Do you smell that Enzo?” She asks, making a show of sniffing the air around her. “I think I smell- a liar. Or two.”
Enzo only snickers as he eyes the both of you up. He knew exactly what you had been smelling all day and you begin to feel panic rise up in your chest. You send a menacing glare his way, daring him to open his mouth.
“Come on Pans, I don’t think Draco and Granger are the only ones who’ll be chatting up tonight,” he says finally.
Glaring at the pair’s disappearing backs, you once again turn slowly back to the problem at hand.
“Soo,” Theo starts at the same time you blurt out,
“This is entirely your fault.”
Theo’s mouth drops open, and he has the audacity to look offended.
“How do you figure mi amore?” He asks.
“You’re supposed to be my partner in potions, but you weren’t there today, so I had to work with,” you shudder, “Enzo.”
Rolling his eyes at your dramatics and giving you a small smile, Theo lets himself relax, leaning on the wall as he towers over you.
“Enzo isn’t so bad,” he says, slowly bringing a hand up to rest on your waist, gently moving you towards him. You pretend not to notice, taking a small, nervous step forward.
“He singed off Matteo’s eyebrows last year. The year before that, he didn’t realize there was a difference between fire flower and fired flour, and his potion melted through the floor. I heard a Puff call him Slytherin’s Seamus,” you retort. “Do you realize how bad you have to be at something to get made fun of by a Hufflepuff?” He snorts at that, cocking his head in agreement.
“Well I’m sorry alright? I’ll make it up to you.”
“You’ll have to. I have to go in again to remake the potion. Don’t want that bad mark on my grade.”
Theo only hums at this, as you’re finally standing nose to chest with him, forcing you to tilt your head up to still see his face.
“You really do smell nice,” he murmurs, pressing his nose lightly into your hair.
You make a face before nuzzling into his chest to hide the redness growing on your cheeks.
“I’m not talking about this in public. I simply refuse,” you say, trying to melt into him from pure embarrassment.
Theo looks down at you with a devilishly handsome grin before turning back to your long forgotten common room door.
“Hey, open up. She technically answered your little riddle earlier,” he tells the door.
The eagle grumbles something unintelligible as it starts to life again.
“I can always melt you down. I’m sure you’d make a great piss pot,” Theo threatens, going to pull out his wand.
The door swings open rather violently and you’re pretty sure you can hear a rather colorful string of curses come out of the eagle’s beak as you make your way inside. Having been there a thousand times before, Theo easily leads you to your shared, but thankfully empty, dorm room, closing the door behind you.
“You really don’t get along with that eagle, do you principessa?” He asks, throwing his shoes off and making himself comfortable on your bed like he usually did.
“Like you’re any better. You just threatened to turn it into a chamber pot,” you retort, falling easily back into your usual banter. This was fine. This was safe.
Theo only raises a brow at you.
“The blasted door is still mad at me for making a ur mum joke when it asked me if a chicken came before the egg in front of a bunch of second years.” You admit, letting your arms fall to your side.
Theo lets out a loud laugh at that shaking his head and extending his arm for you. You walk carefully towards the bed before hesitantly accepting his invitation. It’s not that cuddling with Theo was something unfamiliar to you, as much as you were hyper aware of the slightly awkward tension between the two of you that wasn’t usually there. You slide your shoes off as well before curling up next to him and laying your head on his chest. The two of you lay in silence and you slowly let your eyelids flutter shut, lost in the feeling of Theo’s chest rising and falling.
“You know. You still haven’t told me what your amortentia smells like,” Theo says, finally breaking the silence as he gently brings his hand up to run his fingers through your hair.
“Take a wild fucking guess,” you murmur, refusing to open your eyes and determined to get further lost in his warm touch.
He only hums in response, continuing to comb his fingers through the soft locks of hair.
“You know when Enzo asked me if I smelled you today, he thought you’d smell like hippogriff dung,” you say eventually.
“Fucking tosser. What did that git smell? Wild lavender?”
“And Daphne’s shampoo.”
You feel Theo snort as if he expected no less of your ever romantic best friend. Silence once again rolls over the both of you as you absentmindedly play with the edge of his shirt, rolling the soft fabric between your fingers nervously. The quiet begins to feel suffocating, so you open your mouth to speak, but Theo beats you to it.
“Champagne. And that perfume you always use. With the little white flowers. Lilies of the valley, right?” Theo says.
You open your eyes to look at him in confusion.
“That’s what you smell like.” He says, carefully running his hand down your spine, sending a shiver through you.
“I smell roasted coffee. And smoke. Not the fire-y kind though. The kind that sticks to your clothes cause you refuse to quit smoking.” You respond, looking into his eyes warily for his reaction.
Theo only smirks in response, a cocky grin spreading across his face.
“Aw mi amore, I’m what you’re most attracted to?” He asks, the teasing bait evident in his voice.
You feel heat rise to your cheeks as Theo gazed intently down at you in his arms.
“Shut up Theodore. You sure know how to ruin a moment,” you say, once again burying your face in a chest.
You feel his chest rumble with laughter before his hand snakes it way up to your chin, tilting your head up and capturing your lips with his. His lips are softer than you imagined as he moves them gently against yours. You let a soft gasp escape and Theo pulls you closer, gripping your waste tightly, and shifting you on top of him, deepening the kiss until you’re both left gasping for air.
“Was that more of what you had in mind amore?” He asks with an innocent smile, looking up at you with what you could only describe as his best baby seal eyes.
“I mean, you were definitely significantly more shirtless when I imagined it, but I can settle.” You joke.
Theo’s eyes darken however, and he lifts you as if you weigh nothing, flipping you over so that he now hovered above you, your back pinned against the bed beneath you. With one swift movement, Theo pulls his shirt up and over his head before lowering himself back down, his chest now pressed against yours.
“Better?”
You can’t help but laugh at the boy’s determination as your eyes shamelessly take in the lean muscle and tanned skin that was current above you.
“Theodore, as much as I enjoy this, you have to put your clothes on. Cho or Marietta could walk in at any time,” you tell him as you begin to make soft circles across his waist line with your thumbs, admiring the boy in front of you.
“Mm. You mouth is saying one thing, but these,” he says, placing his hands over yours, “are saying something else entirely.”
You roll your eyes, pulling your hands out from under his and handing him his discarded shirt.
“One kiss?” He asks, looking at the shirt as if it had mortally offended him.
“One kiss.”
He leans down, once again capturing your lips with his, but with more intensity this time. You feel one of his hands brush your waist as his thumb pushes up under your shirt, the rest of his hand following soon after, gripping tightly at the warm skin beneath. You let out a breathy moan when he flicks his tongue across your bottom lip, and he takes it as an invitation to let his tongue explore the rest of your mouth.
An awkward cough shakes you from the haze and you look up, over Theo’s shoulder to see Cho standing guiltily in the doorway.
“Sorry,” she says, looking literally anywhere but you and the shirtless boy above you. “Bad time?”
You cover your eyes in embarrassment, feeling heat once again rush to your cheeks.
“What did I tell you!” You groan, letting your head fall back onto your mound of pillows. Meanwhile Theo has a much too self satisfied grin across his face.

Warnings: Death Eaters, Break- up, Angst with a happy ending.
Word Count: 4.9k
Author’s Note: This is the Part One of a 5 part story. Requests & feedbacks are always welcome. 🤍
Her whole world shattered in a split moment. Never in a million years she thought the man once she loved would be allied with darkness. Her body was trembling, her hands were shaking, her mind was blurred but most of all didn't seem to matter because she could swear that the man standing in front of her was nobody but a stranger from now on.
Let me take you to the beginning of it. Let me take you take you to the beginning of the end.
She was the Minister of Magic’s daughter, which made her popular in a way that is expected. She was everybody's acquittance in one way or another. As for Slytherins, she was a fellow house member. She was a part of the pride that this house took consideration in. For Gryffindors, she was unexpectedly nice, someone who exchanges smiles despite the dispute between two houses. For Ravenclaws, she was a friendly face in the library. She was harmless. For Hufflepuff's she was someone who was pretty kind for a Slytherin while she had a certain reputation to hold as the Minister's daughter. Well, she certainly had her disputes with other students every now and then, but she never crossed a line, which was pretty exceptional for a Slytherin.
Up until her 5th year, she was holding pretty well. She had close-knit friend group which consisted Daphne Greengrass and Pansy Parkinson. Those three were practically inseparable since their childhood. Then there was this bigger group she was involved in which consisted Draco Malfoy, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini and Mattheo Riddle. They were called "The Sacred Seven" in school grounds. This was basically a side-name founded after The Sacred Twenty-Eight. They were the cool kids of cool parents. The parents symbolized wealth, power, nobility, wisdom, prudence and dignity, while the kids symbolized the next generation of all these virtues. They were the upholder's of these virtues. They were the future of The Wizarding World. They held power into their hands and no one could take it away from them. It was pretty obvious that they all had some kind of reputation to hold, but hers was different. Y/N's case was totally different than the rest. First of all, her parents were not Slytherins. Never in a million years they could be. Both her parents were Ravenclaws, known for their academic excellence. Her father had been an esteemed healer, known for his exceptional skills that attracted patients from around the world. It wasn't long before he assumed the position of Minister of Magic. Yet, when it came to their loyalties, the situation was even more intricate. Their loyalties were to Order. But as for Y/N, her loyalty was to Draco Malfoy and Draco Malfoy only. She could usually tell right from wrong and good from bad, but when it came to Draco, her judgment seemed to vanish.
Tumblr media
It was the summer that links 4th year to 5th when she started to notice her interest in Draco. Not like Theo, Blaise or Mattheo but in a heart-skipping way. Whenever Draco's gaze settled on her, it stole her breath away. It sent shivers down her spine, and her heart raced so loudly in her chest that she feared he could hear it. There was no denying his undeniable handsomeness; he was, in every sense, flawless.
That summer was pretty normal. The Sacred Seven united every once a week what felt like an eternity to her. They were closer than ever. But why did she felt like it was not enough?
Y/N has never really been a summer girl. She never really liked hot. However, The Ministry was throwing an end of the summer party and her Sacred Seven was invited, as well. Her father being the Minister of Magic, they were automatically the hosts for the party. Their house was surely a perfect fit for a posh party with it's great entrance hall and it's big garden.
For the upcoming party, Y/N decided to invite Daphne and Pansy over to prepare together. The girls were brimming with excitement and had been buzzing about this event for weeks. Choosing the perfect outfit had become a significant task for them. However for Y/N, one thing became important more and more each minute. And it was him liking her. Although they have been friends since forever, something inside her started to change towards him. And she can only hope that he was feeling the same.
"What do you think about this one?" asked Daphne shaking diamond earrings.
"They are a favourite for me and they'd look perfect on you." answered Y/N.
Daphne wore the earrings.
"Guys, I dont think I can do my zip. Can you help?" asked Y/N.
"Coming." answered Pansy.
Y/N was wearing an shiny emerald gown. She chose to wear the color emerald because she thought he would like it. She thought Draco would like it. So now, she was standing in front of a mirror, looking at herself only hoping for his fancy.
Her friends, not aware of her feelings towards Draco, was standing behind her and looking at her, as well.
"This dress is a total dream." said Daphne.
"Yes and it must cost a fortune." added Pansy.
"Actually, I don't remember how much I payed for it, I just thought it was nice so I bought it." smiled Y/N.
"Says The Minister's Daughter." added Pansy rolling her eyes.
While girls were chatting and getting ready Y/N's mother knocked the door.
"Come in." said Y/N.
"Girls, you all look amazing. Our guests have started to arrive. I will go down stairs now and your presence will be needed within few minutes." said Y/N's mother.
"Okay mom, we will be down stairs shortly." answered Y/N.
One last breath and then she was ready to go.
She was walking in front of Daphe and Pansy. As Y/N led the girls down stairs, there was a feeling of excitement in her stomach. She was trembling, not because she was unsure of herself but because she knew the moment she has been waiting all summer has came. However, she wanted more. She wanted Draco's attention all to herself, she just didn't realized it yet. Y/N was looking for him as she was walking down the stairs. Her gaze wandered around the room only to land on his grey eyes. Draco was looking at her, like she was some kind of precious gemstone. The type that you only get to see once in your life because it is so rare yet so shiny.
Y/N captured everyone's attention let alone Draco. She was shining. She couldn't hide her smile.
The Sacred Seven united, for the last time that summer. For the last time before Hogwarts. As they grew up more and more each day, they started to see the motive behind the "pure-blood ideal." Which made Y/N sick to her stomach. Her parents were never pure-blood idealists, and never was she either. The thought of claiming one was superior to other was nothing but a non-sense to her. She knew the pressure this ideal put on to her friends so decided to keep quiet about it. After all, they were called "The Sacred Seven" for a reason.
The night of the party went on quite well. For the first quarter of the night, the boys of The Sacred Seven were in awe because of the girls's beauty. The second and the third quarter was what Y/N expected, the group went to the garden to have some time together. Y/N's houses garden was dimly lit, and decorated with vanilla scented candles. It was the perfect place for serenity, far from the party's noise.
"I never realized your garden was this big." said Theo to Y/N.
"Well, that depends on how you decorate it and my mum definitely knows how to do it." answered Y/N smiling.
"Yeah, she has got quite the taste." added Daphne.
"Still, it's not the Malfoy Manor tho." Y/N said to Draco.
"Oh well, this will do as well." he answered smirking.
"If you say so." Y/N answered smiling.
They sat by the small puddle in the garden. They started to talk about going back to school, how they are sure of they would get detention from Snape, how they missed their little trips to Hogsmeade.
After some cozy talking, a guy approached to them. Y/N had lifted her up to see who was the guy. It was one of her friends, Graham Montaque.
"Hi, guys." said Graham.
"Hi." few answered.
"Can I talk to Y/N? Promise I will bring her back soon." asked Graham. Draco was staying still, hadn't shown a response.
"Coming Graham." said Y/N.
Y/N and Graham Montaque took a stroll around the garden. Y/L/N and Montaque family have been friends since before even Y/N was born. Graham's father and Y/N's father's friendship goes back to their Hogwarts year. The father's ongoing friendship caused their children to be friends, as well. Graham was like a brother to Y/N. Even though they both had their separate friend groups, they hung out every now and then. Montaque family ,without a doubt, was invited to party as well. Graham and Y/N's continued talking.
After Y/N had left the group, Daphne, Pansy and Theo went inside to get drinks.
For a split moment, Y/N turned her back to look at Draco. He was talking with Blaise, intensely. She wondered what he was talking about. He was making hand gestures and his mimics were just as expressive as his gestures. Y/N couldn't help but wonder what they were discussing. Draco's hand movements and the way he conveyed his thoughts with his expressions piqued her curiosity. It seemed like an intense and intriguing conversation was taking place, and she couldn't help but be curious about the topic that had captured Draco's attention.
After their stroll, Y/N went back to her friend group just to find Blaise and Mattheo talking. Daphne, Pansy, and Draco and Theo weren't there.
"I don't know mate, he has a weird obsession with her curls." was the only thing Y/N could hear from their conversation. Y/N who had curly hair, had straightened it just for the night, was shocked. Who else does have curly hair she thought. Oh millions of girls she answered herself. Who could they be referring to? Draco or Theo? Or someone completely different?
"Y/N, didn't see you there." said Blaise in a shock.
"Oh, I just came." she answered.
Theo and Blaise were looking at each other shocked. Like they didn't know what else to say. Like they have just spilled some kind of secret.
"Guys, is something wrong?" Y/N asked.
"No, we are perfectly fine." Mattheo answered.
Just then, the girls and Draco arrived.
"Father called me in to meet some people." Draco said. Like he owned some kind of explanation to Y/N.
Y/N nodded.
They continued to sit and talk as they drank and enjoyed the night.
When it was time to call it a night, there was a dull feeling inside Y/N's chest. She didn't want her friends to leave just yet, even thought they were going to take the train to Hogwarts the day after tomorrow.
And just like that, it was the end of their end of the summer party. It was time to go back to Hogwarts. The place which feels like home. The place which she belongs to most, like the autumn leaves belong to gentle breeze.
Tumblr media
The Sacred Seven settled in a compartment of The Hogwarts Express. Each one of them being excited more than ever to return Hogwarts. Y/N was sitting and listening in her friends conversations. Her mind wandered back to Draco. Whilst her eyes also wandered back to him. She was looking at him as he was looking outside the window of the train. Then only for a minute, she turned away only to find out his gaze landed on her already.
He smiled at her saying "Your hair looks nice today”.
She was in a total shock, they might be close friends but compliments weren't something she was used to getting from Draco. Then she remembered what she heard last night between the conversation of Blaise and Mattheo "I don't know mate, he has a weird obsession with her curls." The sentence echoed in her head. Could she really be the topic of that sentence? Could "he" refer to Draco? Her body started to feel like it was on fire. Her skin was burning.
"Thanks" she smiled at Draco.
Luckily Daphne and Pansy were too caught up in their conversation to notice what just happened between Y/N and Draco.
She was trying to comprehend what just happened when she heard a familiar voice "Y/N!". She turned away to look at what who was shouting.
"Oh, hi Graham." She smiled and walked away to talk with Graham.
She had to get away from Draco otherwise he would see her blushing.
While Y/N was away talking with Graham, Theo leaned into Draco and said "That's best infamous Draco Malfoy could do?" mocking him.
"What the hell are you talking about Nott?" Draco asked in a cold tone.
"Oh, come on man. We all saw how you look at her." Theo said rubbing his shoulder to him.
"And how would that be?" asked Draco, unintentionally.
"Like you want her to be yours and yours only." said Theo. Unexpected words from Theo.
They were both shocked.
"I never knew your emotional intelligence was this high, you sucker." said Draco.
“What? What's gotten into you all of a sudden?" Theo asked.
Blaise pointed at Y/N who happened to be talking to Graham Montaque.
Y/N was talking casually to Graham. It could be seen from miles that they were just two friends, enjoying each other's company. But Draco was far too jealous to acknowledge it.
As Y/N was walking back to her seat, she noticed the grumpy look on Draco's face.
What's with the face?" she asked pointing out his face.
"Nothing, he is moody as usual." said Blaise.
"Yeah, as usual." said Theo.
"Well then, excuse us we have to use the bathroom." said Pansy dragging Daphne and Y/N by their arms and leading them across the carriage.
Tumblr media
"What now Pansy?" Y/N asked laughing.
"Since you are close with Graham, I thought maybe, just maybe…" Pansy was looking at Y/N with puppy eyes.
“Oh here it comes.” said Daphne chuckling. "Say it already Pansy." Daphne laughed.
"Fine. The thing is..... a double date would be nice. You know, Graham and you and me and Adrian?" said Pansy whispering.
"Oh. My. God. Adrian asin Adrian Pucey?" Y/N answered.
Pansy nodded.
"Graham is like a brother to me! I can't ask him that Pansy and you know it." Y/N answered.
"For Salazar's Sake Y/N! She's not actually asking you to take Graham on a date! She's asking if you guys can accompany them." said Daphne rolling her eyes.
"Oh... well then. I'll think about it." answered Y/N."But please, give me some time so I can come up with a plan." she added.
"Oh thank you Y/N, take as much as time you need." said Pansy hugging her. Girls walked back to their seats as the train was approaching Hogwarts.
Tumblr media
Hogwarts was standing in front them with all its magnificence. The castle, with its imposing stone walls, looked both familiar and distant. It was as though it held the echoes of her past, each turret and spire whispering tales of adventures and friendships. Hogwarts, in all its familiarity, was a place of comfort and belonging. It was a place where she had made lifelong friends and had discovered her true self. Returning to Hogwarts was like returning to a piece of her own heart, a reminder of the magical journey that had shaped her into the person she had become.
Students were led inside to have dinner and to settle into their rooms. Y/N, as usual, shared her dorm with Daphne and Pansy. Draco has had his own room since he was a Prefect this year. Mattheo, Blaise, and Theo all shared one room. The first night was always the most exciting one. Settling in and giggling with the girls as the night unfolds, deciding what to wear tomorrow were all special moments Y/N got to share with her friends.
The next morning, the girls woke up early and went to the Great Hall together. As they sat down, the boys of The Sacred Seven approached them and "Finally. The Sacred Seven. At where we belong." said Mattheo smiling. Their first breakfast at Hogwarts for the year was filled with joy and coziness. Shortly after, they all headed to class.
Tumblr media
As autumn made itself felt, it was already the second week of school. The castle was filled with the sound of students. It was a busy Tuesday. Girls were walking down to the Slytherin Common Room until they heard a "mrrrrrr" sound. Y/N turned away to look, only to find her car Purry was following them.
"Oh Purry, baby what happened?" Y/N asked her cat.
"Mrrrrr" answered Purry.
"What is she trying to tell?" asked Pansy.
"I don't know, maybe she is just grumpy this morning." answered Y/N. Y/N went back to her room to feed Purry -who had already had her breakfast- and told her "Oh Purry, more breakfast was all that you wanted?" said Y/N and Purry murmured again.
Y/N was a little late for her own breakfast. She walked towards the Slytherin table and sat down with her friends.
"Where were you?" asked Draco.
"Oh Purry was feeling a little bit hungry today. More than usual." answered Y/N smiling.
"That little cat of yours eats everything and still not enough?" answered Draco laughing.
"Yeah, she seems little but her stomach is bigger than ours combined. Trust me." laughed Y/N.
"Y/N, can I talk to you before class?" said Pansy.
"Yeah, Pans." said Y/N smiling.
Y/N got off the table to talk to Pansy.
"Pansy, before you start, I will talk to Graham today. I couldn't talk to him earlier because he was busy with Quidditch Team." Y/N said.
"Oh, thank you." said Pansy and two girls started to walk to classroom together. They entered the potions class and went on to sit with others.
Tumblr media
After class, Y/N left the classroom in a hurry to find Graham who happened to be standing in the middle of the corridor.
"Graham!" she called.
"Oh, hi Y/N. How are you?" he said.
"I'm fine Graham, I have a little favor to ask from you. But promise you won't laugh." Y/N said in a serious tone.
"Well, well, well, this is getting interesting. Keep going." said Graham in a funny voice and leaned in to Y/N.
"Oh come on! Don't start already." Y/N said rolling her eyes.
Draco had been looking at her for a while when she noticed his gaze. He was looking at them from across the corridor.
"Oh, so a date accompanied by me and you. I wouldn't call it a serious date tho." Graham laughed.
"Y/N?" Graham said.
Y/N was looking at Draco.
"Please Graham, I am doing this for Pansy. It's not that I fancy a night out with you, either." said teasingly Y/N.
Draco was still on her mind. She wondered if he was still standing there looking at them. She turned away for a moment to look at Draco only to find he was gone.
"Well, I'll talk to Adrian tonight and I am assuming he would be down for it. So I am saying this Friday night. Is it okay for you girls?" asked Graham.
"Yeah, I'll double check with Pansy. Oh, and Graham, please let me know after you talk with Adrian. I don't want any last-minute problems." said Y/N.
"Who would have guessed you'd be so serious about the dates Y/N?" said Graham mockingly.
"Well, technically it’s not my date. But I don’t want to risk it for Pansy." said Y/N walking away.
Tumblr media
When Y/N entered the common room. She found The Sacred Seven sitting by the fireplace. She leaned in to Pansy and whispered "Be ready for Friday evening Pans. Your girl here got it all sorted."
Pansy screamed which caused everyone to shock.
"What now?" asked Blaise.
"Oh, it is nothing." Pansy answered.
Draco's face was stoned cold. He didn't show any expressions. It's not that he did that often, but Y/N wondered if it had something to do with her conversation with Graham earlier.
It was supposed to be a cozy night by the fireplace, sitting all together talking nonsense. But Draco threw cold looks to Y/N every now and then and it made the night unbearable. Y/N was unsure of what to do. She decided maybe it wasn't about her. Maybe Draco wouldn’t go too far since he knew Graham was Y/N’s friend since they were babies. She was not going to take it personally.
It was not until the midnight when they decided to go to their dorms. Pansy was wearing her heart on her sleeve since she heard the news from Y/N.
"Y/N? Can I talk to you in private for a second?" asked Pansy.
"Yeah, Pans, of course." Y/N answered. They walked towards the window, far from the fireplace where The Sacred Seven was sitting already.
"Yeah Pans? What is it?" said Y/N wondering.
"First of all, thank you for arranging the date with Adrian. I will be forever grateful." said Pansy.
"Oh? It's nothing Pansy. I am glad to help. And? That was it is all about?" asked Y/N.
"No actually. There is one other thing. This date. I know you and Graham are friends since you were babies. I can think of the possible gossip this double date will cause. But the later, the better. I just don't want anyone in our group to hear about this date, except Daphne you know. The boys will make fun of it and- you know they-" said Pansy in a rather sad tone.
"Oh Pans, don't worry about the boys. I won't tell them anything. Besides, it's none of their business." answered Y/N smiling.
"Thank you, Y/N.” said Pansy and they walked back to the fireplace.
"So, if you mix the polyjuice potion with the Felix Felicis---" Theo was trying to make a point
"Oh. My. God. Just stop it Theo, we are not mixing anything.” said Daphne.
It was clear that she got enough of Theo's bullshit. Mattheo, Draco and Blaise was laughing so hard.
"Well, let's hope that you won't try it in potions, tomorrow." said Y/N laughing.
Next morning, Y/N and Daphne left their room while Pansy was still getting ready. It was a windy autumn morning. The trees of the Forbidden Forest  surrounding the school had already started to shed their colorful leaves, creating a vibrant carpet of reds, yellows, and oranges that covered the cobblestone paths. The aroma of earthy leaves and wood-burning fires from the castle's hearths was filling the air, creating a unique, autumnal ambiance.
"She will spent hours in front of the mirror just to get Pucey to notice her, won't she?" asked Daphne.
"Yeah, probably. But still, I want their date to be perfect tomorrow night so she can finally have what she wants." said Y/N.
"Yeah, quite a job you did there arranging the date." Daphne said looking at Y/N.
"Yeah, tell me about it. Hope Graham wouldn't make fun of it for the rest of our lives." Y/N said laughing. When Y/N and Daphne entered the Great Hall, they saw the boys were already having their breakfast.
"Morning, morning." said Mattheo.
"Good morning guys." Y/N said.
After a short while, it was time for the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Luckily they all had the same class. Which was a opportunity for Y/N to figure out what was wrong with Draco last night.
However, he seemed normal this morning. Nothing more, nothing less, just normal.
The Sacred Seven was headed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Class started as soon as they sat in pairs. As the lesson began, the Professor addressed the class, "Today, we delve into the intricacies of countering the Imperius Curse, one of the Unforgivable Curses. You must be prepared for any situation where your willpower may be tested. The ability to resist and overcome this curse could be a matter of life and death." This was an important topic.
The classroom's atmosphere remained intense, but it was clear that these students were not just learning to defend themselves; they were preparing to protect others from the darkest of magical threats.
Tumblr media
After the class Y/N, Pansy and Blaise decided to go out to get some fresh air. However, after a short walk, Y/N was pulled away by Graham.
"Hey! Can we talk for a minute?" he asked.
"Sure." Y/N answered.
They were walking through the corridors of Hogwarts.
"So, I talked to Adrian." Graham said.
"So? Please, don't tell me he said no." Y/N said in a rather concerned voice.
"Oh, no. He is pretty interested in Parkinson actually. So our little double date is going to happen. Without a doubt." Graham said.
"Oh, thanks Salazar. Otherwise, Pansy wouldn't shut up about it for weeks." Y/N chuckled.
"You know, you are lucky to have me as a friend." Graham said in a rather snobby tone.
"No need to praise yourself now, Montaque." Y/N rolled her eyes.
"Since when do you call me Montaque? It is Graham to you, you know, it's your father's privilege." he says.
"Oh? So just my father's?" Y/N asked mockingly.
Graham throws his hand around Y/N's shoulder and addresses her "You know you are one of my favorite Slytherin girls. I know you since you were a baby." said Graham, still walking with his hand over Y/N's shoulder.
"Snobby, aren't you?" Y/N said mocking him.
In that moment they heard a sharp intake of breath. Y/N turned her back to look and saw Draco walking behind them with Theo.
"Oh, didn't see you guys there." Graham said.
"Apparently." said Theo while throwing a glance at Draco.
Draco furrowed his eyebrows and hissed. "Whatever." said looking away.
"So, thanks again, Graham. I'll see you around?" Y/N said stuttering. Graham left, nodding his head. She was afraid that Draco saw Graham's arm around Y/N. Well, the worst was yet to come, Y/N didn't know it just yet.
"So Y/N, being one of Graham's favourites from Slytherin must be flattering. Huh? Isn't it?" said Draco mocking. He rolled his eyes at Y/N. "Carrying you around like some kind of trophy in his arms? What a gentleman is Montaque." added Draco.
So he not only saw his arms around her but he also heard Graham's words towards Y/N.
And Draco was non-stop talking about Y/N's interaction with Graham. This was the first time Draco was this reactive. His reactions were getting out of hand and he was eventually stopped by Theo. "Cool down, dude." said Theo to Draco.
Draco scoffed.
Well, this was new.
"Theo, may I talk to Draco alone please?" Y/N asked politely.
Theo nodded and walked away.
Draco still wouldn't look Y/N in the eyes.
"Dray?" she asked.
No answer.
"D-Dray?" she asks again.
"Don't Dray me now, Y/N." Draco said, anger in his voice causing Y/N to stutter.
"I-I- just….What's the problem then Draco?" Y/N asked.
"There is no problem. Everything is fine." Draco said rolling his eyes.
"Oh come on! Why are you so hard on me lately?" Y/N asked as if she didn't know the answer.
"I am not hard on you. I am not the one who's making things harder." Draco looked away again.
"Making things harder? I don't understand." Y/N's heart was beating too fast.
"Why is Montaque so clingy to you? He should take his dirty hands off of you. Or else." he finishes.
"I'm sorry Draco? He is my friend." Y/N answered, sensing Draco's jealousy.
"Well, then he should act like it. Who is he to touch you? Hell, who is he to lay a finger on you?" Draco was getting angrier each minute.
"I didn't know that you hated him that much." Y/N said, unsure of what will happen next.
"He does not mean anything to me. But I will go out of my way to make him sorry for being this close to you, if I have to." Draco said in a rather serious tone.
"You will?" Y/N asked.
"Yeah, I will Y/N." he answered.
"No need tho, he is a friend. That's all he'll ever be." Y/N assured. Draco and Y/N started walking towards the Slytherin common room.
But this time, Draco was different. He was walking extremely close to Y/N and his hand almost touched Y/N's. Tension between them could be sensed from miles away. A quite tense walk ended with them entering the common room. However, Y/N was never going to forget how jealous and protective Draco got of her. And he almost held her hand, for the first time. For the first time in eternity.

Tumblr media
December was arriving and for the majority of the students that meant they would be far away from the new director and teacher, the pink cow. Everyone was dreadfully expecting Christmas to get away from her, especially those who weren’t from Slytherin, and most of them who were from the red house.
However, the excitement of being away from this nightmare wasn’t even comparable to the comeback of Voldemort. Hogwarts was a safe place, so even with Umbridge, most of the students felt secure.
You wouldn’t leave the castle anyways since your parents didn’t want you at your house. You’re the Sinclairs, not a part of the sacred 28, but still an ally of Voldemort, or so you were. Your parents realized too late that they didn’t want to be a part of such dark times as the ones that were lived when Voldemort slaughtered thousands of people.
So when he died they kind of celebrated in the privacy of their house along with you, their little baby. Unfortunately, he came back. It wasn’t a surprise for your parents, it was just a shock. What if Voldemort knew of their betrayal? Of what do they really think about him? Would he go after you?
But for now their only worry is if he appears at their house. He probably doesn’t even know you exist since your parents hid you for almost a year until he died. So that’s why they preferred for you to not go home that Christmas.
You understood, but you just wished you could see your parents again. Meanwhile, you never felt so bad at Hogwarts. It was expected from you to be alongside Umbridge since you’re a Slytherin, and thus you are one of the many privileged ones. You never, ever saw her taking one of your fellow housemates to detention. But you can’t stand the punishment she gives to the other students. You never said anything to anyone about that, but sometimes you feel guilty when you hear little students crying with something in their hands or when she invites someone to go to her office in the middle of class.
You’re privileged because Umbridge would never lay a hand on you, but when it comes to your social life, you never were so miserable. Since the spread of the rumor of Voldemort’s comeback, the judgment and hatred stares increased. Nobody outside of Slytherin spoke with you since the beginning of the year, and that’s unusual. They don’t even want to pair up with you anymore in class, even if you are one of the brightest students of your year.
The urge to finish your school years and never see anyone from this school forever increased day by day, and that’s led you to not even go eating to the Great Hall many times. You would go to the kitchen and ask for something from the house elves, and then you would find somewhere quiet and hidden and eat there.
Sometimes you ate in the kitchen, but you were too afraid of the possibility of someone showing up and seeing you there. But that night, your 6-hour study session left no room for fear, only hunger. So when you reached the kitchen you didn’t felt the need to eat somewhere else. Instead, you sat on a bench and started eating the tomato soup.
Unfortunately, as your thoughts about how delicious the soup tasted traveled in your mind, the kitchen door swung open and revealed one of the infamous Weasley twins. You looked startled to the door, spoon in hand almost ready to feed you again, seeing the ginger looking at you, confused. It was odd not to see him with his brother.
“Sinclair,” he greeted after clearing his throat, still beside the open door, this time with a small grin on his face. “Great soup you’ve got there.”
Should you answer him or ignore his words? “Indeed,” you said, still tasting the soup in your mouth. “What do you want, Weasley?” This time your words were cooler and your semblance more serious, so as not to leave any doubt that you wished for him to go away or else you would.
“A good turkey sandwich, Sinclair. That´s what my belly is asking me for!" He chuckled, completely ignoring your cold demeanor and simply entering the kitchen, searching for the elves with his eyes.
"They´re not here," you warn him before sipping the soup from your spoon. The twin hummed, going behind the balcony and finding bread.
He searches for something more, and when you look at him you see him emerging from behind the balcony with ham. "Nice," he whispers, putting ham on two pieces of bread and joining them.
"Why are you here this late? Umbridge would love to catch you." He looks at you again, surprised by your chat.
"Well, I just left her office, so I don´t think she´ll be here right now," he says while munching a piece of his ham sandwich. Your eyes widen with surprise, instantly looking at his hands and seeing that the rumors that were spreading in the Slytherin house were true.
There was something written in his hand, but not written, more like carved. The ginger sees where your eyes are on, and so he lowers his hands and chuckles. "She got mad because I looked back in class."
"Doesn´t that hurt?" What a stupid question, you think. It obviously seems like it, but he doesn´t retorts, he just smiles softly at you, which makes you think. Since his arrival, he never gave you one bad glance. On the very contrary, he even chuckled and smiled at you.
"It stings a bit, but the pain was much stronger when I was writing it," he informs you, and you feel your stomach whirl. Did he write it? What a sick fucking bitch.
You look at your bowl of soup, practically full. You ate a plate of chips and fish sooner, and he probably hadn´t eaten anything. You thought for a while. Being generous for a Gryffindor was something you had to be careful about these times. But after what you found out and what you saw, you were sure your stomach wouldn´t want anything else, so you push the bowl to his side of the counter.
"You can eat it. I´m already full," you said in a generous but uninterested tone at the same time.
“I don’t think I can acce-“
“Goodbye, Weasley.” Before he could continue protesting you rise from the tiny bench and make your way to the door to leave.
“Goodbye, Sinclair.” You hear him shout from afar since you already left the kitchen behind. Why the hell was he being nice to you like that? It felt strange having someone smiling at you like that.
However you continued your way to the dorms, satisfied with your meal. When you reached the dungeons you said the password to the painting and entered the common room, seeing as being past the curfew already almost all of the Slytherins were in there. Some were chatting, others playing chess and others snogging in public.
You went direct to your room, seeing that you were the only one in there. So, you put on your pajamas, brushed your teeth, and quickly laid down on your bed, switching the lights off.
<>
You woke up after hearing Pansy talking with Daphne, the two were trying to find something to wear since they were going to Hogsmeade. You intended not to go, but you wanted to buy something for your parents to send them on Christmas, so you reluctantly rose from your bed, squinting your eyes at the sun.
“Morning sleepy head,” Daphne said with a cheerful tone and a wide smile. You nodded at her, murmuring something back, but even you didn’t understand what left your mouth, so she just giggled.
“Are you going to Hogsmeade, Sinclair?” Pansy asked from the bathroom, and you hummed in affirmation. “What?”
“I am!” You said louder for her to hear. But you hoped she wouldn’t invite you to go with them since you preferred to go alone. “But not right now. Probably in an hour or two,” you informed them, still sitting in bed watching Daphne look through her closet to find a jacket and Pansy leaving the bathroom, already ready to go.
“C’mon, Greengrass,” Pansy hissed rolling her eyes at her friend that sighed. “Just take your cloak and your scarf!”
Suddenly you hear the curtains of the other bed open, watching as Tracey sleepily rose from her sleep position to shush us. “I’m still sleeping, so please, don’t scream!” She said loudly before closing the curtains abruptly and going to sleep again.
You giggled when Pansy sighed in frustration before going to the door and opening it. “I’m on my way, Greengrass!” She shouted despite Tracey’s words and closed the door before Daphne ran to the closed door with her cloak and her green scarf in her arms, leaving her closet open.
“Wait!” She screamed while opening the door and closing it again in an instant.
You sighed, finally standing up and going to the bathroom. After a while you got ready, wearing black trousers, a green blouse, and one of your black and furred cloaks with green ankle boots.
Leaving Tracey alone and sleeping, you left an hour later since the other two left. You left the dorms and the Slytherin’s common room, walking outside of the castle and going to Hogsmead. It was cold, very cold. The snow painted everything, but the path you and the students were taking was cleaner.
You tighten your scarf while you walked alone, sometimes amongst a slower group of friends that talked and chuckled with each other. When you arrived at Hogsmeade you started to run all the shops, trying to find something to gift to your parents.
Nothing seemed to appeal to you, but it was only the end of October, so you understood why nothing seemed to be a gift to offer someone on Christmas. So, after half an hour of trying to search for something for them, you stopped and walked into Honeyducks, already smelling the sweet smell of all the candies. However, you were confronted with two gingers in front of you when you opened the door this time, both on your way and you on theirs. Just then you realized how enormous the twins were. They towered over you like fucking Big Ben.
“I…I’m sorry,” you whispered, walking backward to let them pass.
“Sinclair! Thank you, for yesterday. The soup really warmed my insides, man,” one of them said with a chuckle. You didn’t even know if he was Fred or George.
“Yeah, sure.”
“Aren’t you the one that almost killed Finnigan in your second year?” You looked at the other twin, surprised and embarrassed by his question.
Long story short, Seamus tried to do something alone to your potion while you went to the bathroom in the middle of class. When you returned you went to check it and suddenly it exploded on both of your faces. Even Snape found it hard to stop you from jumping to Seamus. You never looked on his way again, nor you partnered with him again.
“That’s just exaggerating. I never touched him,” you said annoyed, not liking how people depicted your actions. You would never kill someone over that, it’s just that you wanted Snape’s approval and a good grade.
“Don’t listen to George, he almost killed me several times.” Oh, so the twin you saw last night was Fred. “But you shouldn’t take Seamus's situation that seriously, he likes to blow up things, or so it seems.”
"I´m aware of that," you said, shivering softly under your cloak. It was so damn cold outside, and the snow falling didn´t help at all. "Well, goodbye."
You turned on your heels and started to go to the door of Honeyducks, ready to open it. But before you could move the handle Fred called out for you. "See you around, Sinclair!" You turned around and looked at the twins standing there. You quickly waved at them and entered the store, closing the door behind you and letting yourself be immersed in the hot air and the sweet smells.
You walked around the store, picking up some gummy worms and two sugar quills. You went to the balcony and paid for your items, leaving Honeyducks and walking back to Hogwarts, wishing the snow would stop falling.
Quick note: Hi! I wrote this on AO3 but I also wanted to post this here! I already have the next chapter ready but I’ll wait a few days to finish others. I pretend for this to have, at least, 10 chapters hehe. Well, I hope you enjoyed it!
