I must admit I am so confused about this discourse overall, but I think I understood both sides, I think. The Bear is quite recent, TVD not so much. The Bear just started, there's YET to see what's in stock and I am SO excited to share my thoughts here and see y'all thoughts as well. TVD has been a thing - it has books- it is a fantasy world - it is built with the idea that anything can happen and creature of the night. The Bear is about finedining world - Carmy, Syd, his family, the Bear family,etc. Bonnie was the only black female AT ALL(everyone else were getting offed). Syd is the only black female, we actively see. So, the comment about hating Marcus doesn't work, because there are other black people in the show. Not in TVD. No negros were in Paris, they were all dead and buried. I am genuinely so confused. Both identities will impact their interaction with the world - the real and their characters. You are telling me Sydney, our Sydney wasn't impact by all the yelling the restau- industry. Being yelled by men, Being yelled by white men. Who aren't Carmy. Who didn't apologize. The expectation of more from black characters and for them to just be thankful to be there is another thing I won't touch- but like I want more for Syd than to be just another Bonnie Bennett or another Abbie Mills because Carmy has already failed our girl. Imagine you get to work, asked to take on a new role, trusted to do so just to be yelled at by Richie, who is having a mid fucking 40's crisis, rambling about system. Be for real. When I saw Carmy yell at Syd about her mistake, it brought me back to TVD's where Bonnie wasn't allowed to make mistakes. It was the morning after our staff Christmas party that I got on the horn to Louis Tomlinson.

While the entire office was munching on bacon and egg rolls and chugging coffee to revive themselves, I was in the studio, eagerly awaiting a call from the UK to chat to my favourite member of One Direction (yep, you read that correctly).

You see, unlike most folks who occasionally whack on ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ during road trip karaoke or follow Harry Styles on Instagram to stay up to date with his dazzling wardrobe, I have been a true 1D stan since day dot: X Factor.

As soon as the band was pieced together, punters began choosing their faves, most of them picking Harry and don’t get me wrong, he’s an absolute lord (I’ve literally travelled to another country to see Harry live, I’ve had his album(s) on repeat since their release and I have tons of his merch), but I was instantly enchanted by the quiet, brooding, eldest member of the band and as their popularity skyrocketed, so, too, did my love for Louis.

I guess it’s a combination of his sleek style, his dreamy eyes plus the fact that he’s sassy (his public feuds have rightfully earned him the name ‘Sass Master of Doncaster’) and also has a ‘yuge heart and loves his fans unconditionally.

So naturally when the band went on hiatus, I followed Louis’ career like a hawk and, my fellow Louis stans, our time has finally come ‘coz 2020 is going to be THE year of Louis Tomlinson.

Let me repeat that louder for the people in the back:

The excitement in his voice is palpable as he discusses his debut studio album Walls which drops on January 31, 2020.

“I’m quite big on lyrics, it’s important for me to be honest and real and, at times, vulnerable,” he says of the album.

“My fans already know a lot about me but hopefully I can bring them an album that shows them another side.”

This ~other side~ includes personal yarns and tales from Louis’ life as he explains that he draws inspiration “from my life events.”

“There were times in the past where I tried to write in a fictional sense, and there are a couple of songs on the album like that, but mostly I find it easier to write autobiographically.”

He adds, “Things happen to you and sometimes it might seem mundane but it makes you feel a certain way and it’s worth writing about.”

If you haven’t already listened to his latest singles, first of all what the heck is wrong with you? Second of all, go give them a listen and you’ll know exactly what he means by writing autobiographically.

He says his newest single ‘Don’t Let It Break Your Heart’ is “something that I’m definitely really proud of.”

“It’s a song trying to invoke hope, it’s about seeing the glass as half full as opposed to half empty and no matter what life throws at you, don’t let it break your heart.”

I then point out that he has a lot of positive, inspirational, anthemic bops under his belt and I ask if this is intentional.

“I think so,” he responds. “You always want to write lyrics that are relatable and inspiring, and I think songs like the song I did with Steve [Aoki] ‘Just Hold On’, it’s got the same kind of vibe of hope. I think it’s a pretty cool topic.”

He then talks me through my personal favourite, ‘We Made It.’

“It’s kind of about two things because we started out with just the title and what it meant to me in that moment was me picturing our first show of the tour and all the hard work it took me to get there and with the fans, it’s a collective, we made it here together, and that’s how the song started out,” he says.

Directioners will be happy to know that Louis doesn’t shy away from name-dropping his bandmates and when I ask him to talk me through the best moments from the past decade, he literally lists three 1D-centric mems.

“When we first got put together as a band, that was a magical moment,” he says.

“We didn’t know each other that well and we went through that whole journey together, so that was pretty special.”

“When we played Madison Square Gardens in New York, that was a pretty memorable one. All of our families came down to watch.”

And finally, “We were lucky enough to play at the Olympics which was definitely one of the proudest moments I’ve ever had, definitely.”

Speaking of performing with 1D, Louis’ forthcoming trip to Australia will be his first without his bandmates and he is, as he put it, “proper excited to come back.”

“The gigs [in Oz] are always incredible and also for any Brit, it’s the ultimate dream to travel to Australia.”

But punters who have been lucky enough to see a One Direction show in their lifetime should expect a very, very different vibe from Tomlinson now that he’s flying solo (~obviously~).

“It’s not going to be a massive production with any gimmicks, it’s just going to be pretty straightforward. Just a good live show focusing on music and hopefully we’ll have a good night.”

Going from touring with his besties to being on the road by himself (and the backing band, of course) is bound to be a huge adjustment that Louis plans on easing into.

“I like creating normality [on the road], I just like to be sat with mates chatting, listening to music and then head out onto stage.”

He also gave me this lil tidbit about his travelling style, which should come as no surprise to the die-hards.

“I’m notoriously a really bad packer, I always leave with not enough clothes and not enough things that I need.”

But while he’s often short a pair of sneakers or a sweater or two, he always makes sure to pack the essentials.

“I like to take tea bags with me on tour. You can’t get a good cup of tea everywhere so it’s important to travel with your own.”

Which prompts me to ask about his thoughts on our tea Down Under.

“It’s good, yeah! It’s good,” he assures me.

So now that we’ve discussed what 2020 will look like for him (including starting his sophomore album in the second half of the year!), along with his highlights from the last decade, I’m eager to know what his plans are for the next decade.

Brace yourselves for the response…

“Fucking hell, I’m not that good at thinking far ahead,” he immediately quips. Legit, there’s nothing I love more than when celebs drop an F word in an interview. It shows that they’re not doing the super-polished, media-trained thing and they’re happy just being themselves.

Frankly, if Louis didn’t swear in the interview, I would’ve been convinced that he’d been abducted by aliens and replaced with a cyborg. But you’ll be happy to know that in our nine-minute convo, he swore a grand total of three times which is a great score, IMO.

But anyway, back to the question at hand.

“Hopefully still making music, still making albums. My intention is to get better as a songwriter with every album, so hopefully still making music and still touring.”

We wrap up our good old chinwag with a message to his fans, particularly the Aussies who he’ll finally be treating to his angel voice when he plays the Big Top in Sydney and the Palais Theatre in Melbourne in April.

“When we first got put together as a band, that was a magical moment,” he says.

“When we played Madison Square Gardens in New York, that was a pretty memorable one. All of our families came down to watch.”

Speaking of performing with 1D, Louis’ forthcoming trip to Australia will be his first without his bandmates and he is, as he put it, “proper excited to come back.”

“The gigs [in Oz] are always incredible and also for any Brit, it’s the ultimate dream to travel to Australia.”

But punters who have been lucky enough to see a One Direction show in their lifetime should expect a very, very different vibe from Tomlinson now that he’s flying solo (~obviously~).

“It’s not going to be a massive production with any gimmicks, it’s just going to be pretty straightforward. Just a good live show focusing on music and hopefully we’ll have a good night.”

Going from touring with his besties to being on the road by himself (and the backing band, of course) is bound to be a huge adjustment that Louis plans on easing into.

“I like creating normality [on the road], I just like to be sat with mates chatting, listening to music and then head out onto stage.”

He also gave me this lil tidbit about his travelling style, which should come as no surprise to the die-hards.

“I’m notoriously a really bad packer, I always leave with not enough clothes and not enough things that I need.”

But while he’s often short a pair of sneakers or a sweater or two, he always makes sure to pack the essentials.

“I like to take tea bags with me on tour. You can’t get a good cup of tea everywhere so it’s important to travel with your own.”

Which prompts me to ask about his thoughts on our tea Down Under.

“It’s good, yeah! It’s good,” he assures me.

So now that we’ve discussed what 2020 will look like for him (including starting his sophomore album in the second half of the year!), along with his highlights from the last decade, I’m eager to know what his plans are for the next decade.

“Fucking hell, I’m not that good at thinking far ahead,” he immediately quips. Legit, there’s nothing I love more than when celebs drop an F word in an interview. It shows that they’re not doing the super-polished, media-trained thing and they’re happy just being themselves.

Frankly, if Louis didn’t swear in the interview, I would’ve been convinced that he’d been abducted by aliens and replaced with a cyborg. But you’ll be happy to know that in our nine-minute convo, he swore a grand total of three times which is a great score, IMO.

But anyway, back to the question at hand.

“Hopefully still making music, still making albums. My intention is to get better as a songwriter with every album, so hopefully still making music and still touring.”

Yeah, the comments are pretty wild, but kind of expected coming off Anna Slatz’ feed. I’ve seen an article or two of hers hosted on FeministCurrent, which is Canada TERF central, so not the greatest person there.

To give a brief-ish summary of the scenario here (because The Post-Millennial is a serious fascist right wing shitshow that doesn’t deserve clicks), Arielle Scarcella (who is American, not Australian) was invited to an event associated with Sydney Mardi Gras. FWIW, just to preface all this, the event wasn’t cancelled, she’s still going, it’s just not associated with Sydney Mardi Gras anymore. No real deplatforming happened, the larger Mardi Gras event just decided not to associate itself with the event, which is being hosted elsewhere now, and the trans-positive guest backed out.

This all happened due to community pressure to stop backing an event hosting a transphobe, which Arielle Scarcella absolutely is. 

This is not an opinion. By definition, she doesn’t accept that trans people truly are what we are, she believes that we instead are what we were assigned at birth and that we identify differently, but that people’s birth assignment is immutable. This is the core element of transphobia and cissexism, it is what all other forms of transphobia and cissexism take root in.

Here’s a few quick snippets displaying the content of her character:

And that’s without going to her videos and grabbing quotes from there, where she’s often even more candid. 

AND she won’t shut up about how disgusting she thinks trans women’s bodies are, which is just flat out unnecessary and just mean. When people aren’t attracted to folks, they generally don’t make a big scene of it asnd go out of their way to tell the person repeatedly all while following it up asking for them to tell her she’s still a good person, but there she is, all while baiting for praise from transphobes to tell her she’s not transphobic. 

Oh, and she’s pretty racist too, but that’s pretty common knowledge.

She’s a complete mess. She’s a shit human being. No-/De-platforming is good strategy, and I’m good with Sydney Mardi Gras dropping support for the event.

It was the morning after our staff Christmas party that I got on the horn to Louis Tomlinson.

While the entire office was munching on bacon and egg rolls and chugging coffee to revive themselves, I was in the studio, eagerly awaiting a call from the UK to chat to my favourite member of One Direction (yep, you read that correctly).

You see, unlike most folks who occasionally whack on ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ during road trip karaoke or follow Harry Styles on Instagram to stay up to date with his dazzling wardrobe, I have been a true 1D stan since day dot: X Factor.

As soon as the band was pieced together, punters began choosing their faves, most of them picking Harry and don’t get me wrong, he’s an absolute lord (I’ve literally travelled to another country to see Harry live, I’ve had his album(s) on repeat since their release and I have tons of his merch), but I was instantly enchanted by the quiet, brooding, eldest member of the band and as their popularity skyrocketed, so, too, did my love for Louis.

I guess it’s a combination of his sleek style, his dreamy eyes plus the fact that he’s sassy (his public feuds have rightfully earned him the name ‘Sass Master of Doncaster’) and also has a ‘yuge heart and loves his fans unconditionally.

So naturally when the band went on hiatus, I followed Louis’ career like a hawk and, my fellow Louis stans, our time has finally come ‘coz 2020 is going to be THE year of Louis Tomlinson.

Let me repeat that louder for the people in the back:

The excitement in his voice is palpable as he discusses his debut studio album Walls which drops on January 31, 2020.

“I’m quite big on lyrics, it’s important for me to be honest and real and, at times, vulnerable,” he says of the album.

He then talks me through my personal favourite, ‘We Made It.’

ALL THANKSGIVING TRIPS ARE OFFICIALLY CANCELED! ALL CURRENT INTERACTIONS SHOULD STOP NOW!

This is an emergency alert! Cotton Plant, Arkansas is officially on lockdown. A massive storm has just swept through the town, and everyone must stay put, exactly where they are until further notice. Strong winds have knocked over a near by cell tower, so you’ll notice that your cell phone is not currently working, but don’t worry, no matter where you are, there is an emergency supply kit.

Supply kits include, sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, water bottles, first aid kits, flashlights, and enough food to last until the lockdown is over. When the storm hit, residence of the town ran to the closest building to take shelter, so if your character is in a place they would not normally go, that’s okay. There will be no leaving these locations until further stated. 

This post applies to all players. Everyone will be involved in this plot, other than those who are currently on full hiatus, and will remain on full hiatus for the entirety of the event. Please note, all acceptances have been paused until the event is over, this includes fc/family changes.

Below you will find groups, please look through the groups to find your character(s) this is where they are located for the start of the event. The people in the group with them are the ONLY people they can interact with during THE START of the event. 30 September 2019, 0040hrs

mid flight and having watched some Chinese romance film and it’s driven me to tears...like not the tearing kind but the floodgates kind...

my heart is feeling terribly wretched now...tears streaming down my face...even as i close my eyes in a weak attempt to sleep...

but it’s just for the best really...

although every second of everyday so far i keep ding donging between whether this decision is for the best...

on the one hand i could have kept you in my orbit...for however longer...but to what end...? what good would that do...but i ache so much for your touch now...it’s killing me...

i’m so full of regrets now...that i didn’t even gave you so much of a hug that day...but again what good will anything do now...

what good will anything do...

anything to soothe this aching heart...

are breakups always this difficult..?

despite this being a non-official relationship...i must have somehow poured too much of myself into this...mindlessly...blindly...

i told you on more than one occasion how precious you were to me...you still are now...but i had to choose self-preservation...self-love over standing by yourself...watching you not attempt to step away from the precipice...

airports/travel was kinda our thing somehow...in the 4 short months of this whirlwind...we’ve travelled to so many places between the 2 of us...

that 1 time when you sent me off on my first work trip...i was so touched by that gesture...and how u insisted on picking me up and sending me home on my return even though i refused to tell you my flight details...it’s really not quite the same as when family comes and sends/picks you...i get it now...

i’m still heartbroken somehow...

guess the sept timeline was pushing it if i’m being honest w myself...

how did it end the way it did...it basically pulverized before my eyes and there was no stopping it...a train gone off its brakes and derailing rapidly off course...

i’m sure my heartache can’t compare to what you’ve been through/ are going through...but i concluded the length of time of a relationship is probably only a slight indication of the potential magnitude of the pain...

i’m curious how anyone does it...

but i’ll get there soon enough i hope...

again the lyrics couldn’t have rung more true...

i genuinely didn’t mind going anywhere with you...as long as it meant spending time with you...another of my key love languages...i just couldn’t get enough...

all the stolen moments...coffee breaks...rushing to meet you at the train stn after work just so that we can ride that few stops together...and walking you to the nel...how you’d miss the immediate train so we could hang for a bit...they all meant sth to me no matter how small the gesture...

you know how i used to frown upon pda but now i understood it so much better myself now...i just couldn’t get enough of you...if only i could have skinship with you everytime we met...but it effectively disappeared towards the end when we hung out...we basically regressed to nothing and it got awkward...i crave your touch like a child craves a candy...an addict needing her fix...but you’ve taken it all from her and you are the only source of this drug...and i can only keep hurtling myself down this abyss without you...watching as i fall...not ever catching me at all...

another fact: i never saved your number until after 4th July when you said you liked me...cos i was afraid of getting hurt...like all the other dates before...nothing really sustained themselves until you came along...it was easy for me to decide how to save your number...

and somehow at some point (this should have been during my hk trip) i added the open heart ♡ beside your name...it looked right...it felt right...

after friday’s convo...i attempted to change how your name was saved in my phone...but it just didn’t look right somehow...nothing did...

it’s annoying how smart phones work...

right now there are still immediate prompts for me to ‘send message to xxx’ and all message forwarding will list your name as the first option...

i wonder who will move on faster me or the phone...

you shaken up my world so...and now you’re leaving a gaping hole...

i’m so greedy with my memories with you...

i just want to store everything on my phone

even if it eats up copious amounts of phone space...

i will still want to document everything

while it is still fresh in my mind...the good the bad the sad...even if it means crying buckets again...and then maybe i can put us to rest...

there was so much i wanted to tell you...

but everytime we do those hth chats in your car...i get the gist but never the entire message...

i’m in a full flight enroute to sydney a baby crying in the background and still tears can roll off my eyes...it’s usually when i’m awake alone with my thoughts when the tears come...in heavy heavy bouts...

and then Birdy’s Skinny Love playing like broken record in my mind...

i’m sorry i just left you with ‘have a good life’ and ‘bye’...if i could re-do it i would’ve hugged you and wished you well and pray that your demons will leave you sooner for your sanity and your heart will heal and that all will go well for you...

you are such a good person...i can only hope for the very best for you because good people are deserving of it...

i never understood why people can cheat, lie to their partners, or just be unhappy in a relationship and result in a divorce...

if you loved it other so much to get married...what happened to that when you decided to get divorced..?

i thought with love we could overcome anything...but you clearly need more than love to sustain marriage...

4 Jul: we randomly talked about marriage...you still believed in it (thankfully i said in my head) but you’d prefer a smaller do the 2nd time around...cos you’ve done the big one once already...i didn’t let on how much i knew about that aspect of your life...how i even know about your anniversary date, your wedding venues and your wedding hashtag...

i just shared that i also preferred a smaller as i preferred more intimate settings...

we also asked about birthdates...you pushed for mine first...and then i asked about yours...which was obviously upcoming since we were already in July...

i’m sorry i failed to celebrate your birthday with you...

i made a weak attempt when we were at Nassim Hill...but they only served bread and as much as you loved bread we really had quite a pretty full brunch and sat there talking for close to 4 hours straight...

those were one of my favourite moments with you...just sitting there talking about anything

you were super sensitive when i said i had questions...you were literally waiting for me to ask you...

1. are you guys still sleeping on the same bed

2. sleeping arrangements on the upcoming family trip

3. timelines - your divorce was really gonna be finalised by eoy

4. my childless preference and if you were ok with it

i was incredibly happy that day...probably the happiest i had ever been potentially...

watching fireworks with you and all that excessive skinship (but still i couldn’t get enough)...and when you sent me home that night and when i told you you were very precious to me as i touched your face...you said in the most tender voice that you will work this through that we will work this out...

if i could turn back time i will want it to remain frozen at that point forever...with me in your car during happier moments...
