There are things seen and unseen in this world that would not be able to brave any regular explanation. Teddy Yang finds this out the hard way. After the strangest date in recorded human history, Teddy’s date seemingly disappears into nothing. In an attempt to find him, Teddy stumbles upon actual psychic Dominique Sharpe, as well as a magical world that has been hiding right below the surface of his own.

Soon after, the high wizard is found dead in his library, and Teddy is the sole suspect in the crime. Within the span of less than a week, Teddy goes from not knowing about magic at all, to running from the magical law and trying to solve the murder he’s being framed for.

Even worse, he still hasn’t found his missing date.

it was . . . a simple phone call sans bavardage. the issue was rather straightforward: an infamous blackmailer by the name of milverton has taken a liking to antagonize public figures. the professor had no such interest in such parasites, but recognised the risk he implied. it was entirely a matter of time before that snake-eyed beast peered from the corridor with its greedy maw gruesomely wide open, laughing. the morning had been spent combing through contacts with minute scrutiny, reaching out to his associates' acquaintances until the most remote thread to him could ever be made. which is how moriarty found himself sitting by his desk with a phone on his hand, neglecting his assistant as well as the clutter of paper &. heavy files on its surface. the lad even glanced at the professor at the cruel tone in his voice as he slowly pronounced his wishes to flay a man &. dump whatever remains at the parliament's front door as a gift, surely planting the seeds of incrimination on one of the politicians milverton had dancing on his palm.

          Sudden is the way they pop up from behind the counter , a burst of red hair and antlers , arms folding atop the earthy marble and form leaning PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE to the blond as they whisper rather conspiratorially , “Soooo , Ah’m offa’ work in ‘bout five minutes , y’wanna do somethin’ after ?”  It’s a Friday , it’d be the perfect day to do something.  It was also one of the rare weekends they have off , one of the rare weekends they managed to squander for themself ( & thus proceed to make it everyone else’s problem ) .  The expression on their face is d a m n i n g ; glinting eyes and cheeky smile.  “An b’fore ye ask , NO , this ain’t a date.  So dun’ go gettin’ tha’ lil’ thought in yer big ol’ head.”  They lightly prod the blond ‘tween the eyes , harmless as it was teasing , though they weren’t here to inflate his ego even more.  “C’moooon , Ah’ll e’en let ye pick where we go !”

hello!! what can you tell me about your wizard story? please and thank you!

oh BOY. okay let's get into it;

it's an urban fantasy story about a large metropolitan coty where magic exists right under normal people's noses. it's been a well-kept secret for ages, until one unfortunate date night unravels everything.

so the story starts with Teddy Yang and the tinder date from hell. or, well, it doesn't start out that way. it's a pretty good date, actually. a really good date. until the guy, Vincent, ghosts before they can even get breakfast. to say Teddy is disappointed by this is an understatement, so he goes to try and find Vincent. while doing this, he ends up at the psychic shop his date said he worked at. the shop is, weirdly enough, run by a girl not much older than Teddy himself, Dominique Sharpe. she tells Teddy that she hasn't seen Vincent in ages, and gives him a free reading for his troubles.

it all goes to shit from there on, kind of.

Teddy discovers that magic is, in fact, very real, and has always existed right under his nose. this is great news, at first, and once Teddy becomes acquainted with Dom's friends Indigo, Ethan, Astra, and Curtis, he starts to think things are really looking up for him again. which is exactly the moment that the high wizard of the city is murdered and Teddy is named as the prime suspect for his death.

He's being framed, of course, but that doesn't doesn't the predicament a lot better.

so, characters;

Teddy Yang — works at a bookstore. that's it. he's just some guy. the unluckiest guy ever, but still. his fc is andré dae kim.

Dominique 'Dom' Sharpe — psychic, and owner of the only real psychic shop in the city. her fc is odessa a'zion.

Indigo 'Indie' Love — wizarding student under the high wizard and smarter than all other characters combined. her fc is lovie simone.

Stanley Alistair — the very anxious assistant of the high wizard who is, at all times, one dried-up pen away from a reality-tearing panic attack. his fc is adam dimarco.

Astra Wicker — a clumsy necromancer who accidentally makes the high wizard even more dead then he was to begin with. her fc is amber midthunder.

Curtis Sage — the elusive housemate of Teddy who he quite literally has never seen before the start of the story. his fc is ashton sanders.

Vincent Ashford — an ambitious magic user who is, all things considered, not the greatest guy. and not just because he bailed on Teddy post-hookup. his fc is thomas doherty.

the high wizard — he's old and he's dead. there's not much more to it. his fc is michael sheen.

I'm still working out a lot of details, but this is most of what I have so far! I'm mainly concerning myself with thinking up a magic system right now and naming everything, but I really can't wait to make a post for the story once I figure everything out.
