kudoichi childhood friends au (revamped!)
more under cut !!
they r not free from my childhood friends au agenda 🙏🙏
heres additional doodles :]
Tumblr media
i drew this right after 407 where we FINALLYYYY got the ofa/afo backstory AND brand new ichinii content , so in honor of that i revamped my kdch childhood friend au (ill add the older vers at the bottom)
random info:
>their nicknames: hero-san and k-chan (might change)
>kudou only called him that due to yoichi saving him from falling off the log bridge, and the nickname stuck cus yoichi didnt have a name yet (which ik afo taking 9 years to name him is crazy but bear w me) and cus yoichi liked it sm. ... also i rlly dont have a particular reason for yoichi calling him-k chan,
>thats also how they met, after afo left to scavenge or whatever hes up to, yoichi snuck out of the abandoned home he and his brother were currently residing in and found the forest nearby, then met kudou in happenstance
>they never talked about afo other than yoichi referencing him from time to time si kudou didnt know much about him other than "my brother has alot of cool meta abilities" and afo surprisingly never found out about kudou or yoichi leaving almost daily
>they only spent 2 months together, i hc that yoichi and afo moved alot when they were younger so..
>they were eachothers first friend
>the next time they met was in the vault
.
anddd heres the older version
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
dont have much info since i didnt think much of it, the only significant change is thst the age difference btwn the two

Au where everything is the same except Yoichi is the Peerless Thief.
Harima Oji still existed, he and Yoichi were just separate thieves and knew each other. They had the brother dynamic that All For One wished he had.
The reason why Yoichi wasn't tagged as the Peerless Thief was because he willingly gave up his title to Harima. He was the better thief anyways.
As he says that he thinks about the mad heists Harima pulled, and he can't get over the heist involving stealing his brother's Coat. Not any other old coat, The Coat. The one that his brother would flaunt and practically one of the telling signs that he was All For One. To steal from the King of the Underworld...that was one hell of an achievement.
At the same time as Yoichi goes and gives the title, Harima just thinks back to all the times Yoichi would steal not by grand heists but by simple words and through natural charisma. It's almost scary how good he was at getting people wrapped around his finger and showing him all their valuables.
And then in the corner we have Second and Third accidentally getting infatuated with that white-haired thief from the bar. God he was so hot and then he stole both of their phones and wallets and then he helped them with All For One and they both have it baaaad.
Meanwhile All For One is trying to figure out where his brother is going whenever he goes out with his friend. I bet that friend is getting Yoichi in so much trouble. God the moment he finds where Yoichi is going he’s going to place a hit on that guy and then vault his brother. His brother, doing anything that is beyond the image All For One made in his head? Hah! Impossible! He’s helpless after all!

AFO and Second as foils:
Tumblr media
This is all speculation, but keep your EYE on them, I think there's something there and I think there will be more.
In this post we're gonna tease out the difference between "using people as disposable lighters" and "killing was survival." Existing at a time where they had to come up with acceptable losses in order to survive, but Second was able to still ground what he was doing in kindness to someone, in saving someone.
Meanwhile I think everything AFO is doing is grounded in emotionally protecting himself. Like it has not actually worked, I'm sure the state of his emotional literacy is a complete garbage fire, but it's like—
"Well, nothing but me or Yoichi can matter. Yoichi's opinions on how Yoichi matters are inconvenient and hard for me, so I'm going to have to keep believing he's just foolish and mistaken until eventually I have to lean into being and enjoying being a cartoon supervillain"
His admiration of supervillains started WAY young, so obviously some of it was there from the start, but idk, I'm willing to bet what drew him to them was that they're the characters in the story who always seem unaffected, even gleeful. Especially considering the time he grew up in.
And how IS it that that's something so far distant from "killing was survival"?
Well, it's what distinguishes heroism, what ACTUALLY distinguishes it: save him first.
Now yes I could make an entire separate post about everything Stain gets wrong (he wants to die, he believes villains should die just as he believes bad heroes should die because he does not believe in people's capacity to change once they are too far gone, he does not care about people like Himiko Toga), but this thing is correct and played straight. Tenya Iida rolls it straight into his personal philosophy, and he brings it back in the JT arc with his announcement to the hero course that my priority is rescue, clearly framed as a triumph.
What makes a hero? Heroes must ground their fight in saving. It has to be about saving.
And one day, things will reach Izuku Midoriya's era. Deku will see the necessity of the hero who [tries to save] everyone, and Uravity will connect the pieces on the fact that we all need to become that hero.
It wasn't possible in Second's era, so Second chose what he could.
I think Second was deeply deeply messed up about the things he had to do in order to keep himself and other people alive. But I also think he kept asking himself why he did it, and kept investing in other people. There is a reason he understands "those who run alongside you."
And when Second introduces the notion of "those who will match your pace and run along side you," in that moment he means those who will STOP you when you need stopping.
There's a reason that that core Second belief is associated with what Iida is as a friend and a rival: Iida's entire philosophical rivalry with Midoriya is grounded in "neither one of us can make all the judgment calls alone, neither of us can make all the rules."
Sorry to bring Iida into it now, but Second sort of necessitates that for this analysis to make sense: The way Iida begins to stand back up and take heroic action is the advice "be the hero [your brother] would want you to be."
Iida was doing something for Tensei IN NAME, but it was based on Iida's own restlessness and putting his own emotions at ease. It was obviously something that it would be completely batshit to suggest Tensei wanted. The second he's confronted with that thought, instead of stuffing it into a very very distant little compartmentalized corner, Tenya knows that.
(Unlike AFO, Tenya also chooses to stand back up and do better this time. He chooses to take the critique, to understand that he was wrong despite how ridiculously harsh on himself Tenya is when he's wrong, and to dedicate himself to figuring out how to do better.)
Similarly, AFO takes actions in Yoichi's name, but they are, at every turn, entirely to soothe himself. They are never interested in what Yoichi wants from him. Investing in other people's answers when everything is already so hard is mandatory, but is difficult, and AFO chose the route that Second chose to rise above.
AFO had the opportunity to choose that too. There were people who, if he chose to do better, would have done the difficult work of running alongside him. I'm sure there was a long period of time when Yoichi would have— we watch Yoichi try to stop him with words, try to get him to do anything better, to at least stop this.
AFO was reacting to what it was to exist during his horrible, tumultuous time. And so was Second, and that's why I think foiling them is going to wind up essential to dig at the root of what makes AFO evil.
-
(Apologies that the picture wound up at no point being referenced in this post. Just to keep from confusing anyone, I'm gonna come out with it: that picture at the top is me finding the best AFO and Second panel I could to make this post look nice.)

For the ask game : an au where Izuku is all might son but he have all for one quirk and remind all might of all for one
This is just gonna be like the dadmight in my Top Dog Supervillain fic but bio.
Okay, here’s how Izuku got the All For One Quirk and why he reminds his father All Might of AFO: It all started when Yoichi and the other OFA holders got just a little bit more frustrated than usual with the AFO Vestige haunting their realm and they started cooking up ways to get rid of the pesky parasite. One day, Banjo — looking through Yagi’s eyes —accidentally intruded upon a private and intimate moment, then came back to propose his plan of kicking the extra villain luggage into Yagi’s soon-to-be spawn. Yoichi was about to reject the idea after Nana chewed Banjo out, but Second had already booted off the unwanted AFO vestige, much to the others’ horror.
As a baby, Izuku is always doing grabby hands and “up-up” motions at Yagi, more so than he does to his mother. Inko and Yagi find it cute, unaware that little Izuku is acting upon the strong urge of pulling at his father’s Quirk.
Yagi’s blood pressure had spiked to the point that it was a miracle he was still alive when Izuku took a visiting Gran Torino’s Quirk. Oh yeah, Izuku’s AFO Quirk is ranged because it did things to his genes. Anyway, chasing after a toddler flying around like a jet made for an interesting day, but Inko came to the rescue in the end.
Yagi wondered if the villain All For One had something to do with it but nothing triggered his trusted security measures. He also reasoned that All For One would’ve kidnapped Izuku. Unfortunately, the OFA Vestiges were unable to communicate with him. In any case, Yagi vowed to raise his son right. It was a learning process for him as well, as he quickly learned that forcing Izuku to return Quirks is like pulling out his own teeth + fingernails + toenails one by one.
Noticing that asking his son to suppress his Quirk is causing damage to their relationship (and worrying that this might push Izuku to the clutches of AFO), All Might took Izuku to hospitals and institutions where people who want their Quirks to live on might donate them. This satisfies most of Izuku’s urges.
Izuku doesn’t hate heroes, but he IS a comic villain fan. All Might worries that this might apply to reality as well and always brings up his expectations of Izuku becoming a Pro Hero. Then, Inko reminds All Might that the constant worrying could turn the situation into some kind of self-fulfilling “fall into villainy” prophecy and convinces All Might to simply support Izuku in finding his way.
One day, All Might woke up wide-eyed at three in the morning and announced, “All For One would be soooo damn pissed at the idea that my All-For-One-Quirked son is besting him at everything.” And then he took Izuku Quirk-shopping at Tartarus, somehow with no one else knowing.

May i ask about Blade of Nine?
BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK
Hi. Thanks for asking.
Blade of Nine is very structured, like Candor. It’s a nine chapter medieval/steampunk/fantasy vibe inspired by that one anime ending. Each chapter takes the POV of a different OFA holder (who are all alive in this AU). It basically unravels the prophecy of a savior that, “wielding the blade of nine souls, shall have eternal life”.
The presumed “magical sword” was kept with the king, but is stolen years ago. Second is blamed for it at the beginning of the story and his execution is ordered— Yoichi is missing. All For One, an advisor to the king, wants the sword for obvious reasons to claim the throne. En is an alchemist who works for All For One, Nana is a dragon rider, Banjo is an entertainer who also boasts an underground network, All Might is a blacksmith, Izuku his pupil, and Third a gardener (it makes sense i sWEAR—).
I’m super excited tho cause every new POV shows the plot moving forward, but every perspective sees different things and knows different details, so building it up to the finale where it makes sense and the holders all finally meet and they save Second and solve the mystery of the “blade of nine” IS SOOOOOO COOL TO MY WRITER’S BRAIN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND… like so-and-so decides to cause a massive prison break but you don’t get to hear all abt that until the next chapter’s POV overhears it from some little old ladies down the street and goes “damn thats crazy, now watch as i do my own, equally batshit thing today”.
And it all works out! 💛 and unlike candor, it’s supposed to be fast paced.

Anyway the OfA users by height when alive should be:
Toshinori - 7'2" canon, no holder should be taller than him
Yoichi- some inches shorter than his brother (AfO is canonically 7'4") and likely shorter than Toshinori as well, but he really should be the second tallest holder
Nana- canonically her minimum height was 6'2", based on her relative to Gran Torino's former hight which was at minimum 6'7"
Third- somewhat taller than Second but I can't say by how much because I unfortunately proved the size of the vault door in Yoichi's memories was not consistent and therefore not a viable measuring stick. Probably shorter than Nana
Izuku- canonically 5'5"
Second- 5'3" based on his height relative to AfO in chapter 369
Unfortunately the other holders don't have very many useful panels of them side by side when alive but I can sure hc them in there. Also used manga only as it's more reliable than Bones when it comes to height... They keep shrinking Toshinori

awww poor Yoichi :(
Hmm, do you have any immortal headcanons?
I felt so sorry for him the whole time I was writing that AU. But yes, I do have some immortal OFA users headcanons.
Note: This time, an immortality quirk got mixed in with stockpile, so the users all had to fake their deaths. The headcanons go from there.
Yoichi had fun writing the books he always wanted to write, but under a pseudonym of course. His brother hates his books of course and vows to hunt down the author. (Yoichi does change pseudonyms and stuff every few years)
Also, once every few years, Yoichi will get HOOKED on some trend. It lasts about twice as long as it takes for the trend to die down.
Second married Yoichi and while he wanted to just steal what they needed; Yoichi convinced him to get money in a more ethical way. So, he became a mechanic. The only bad thing is they have to move every few years as they look the same age they were when they passed on OFA. Like the vampires in Twilight.
I headcanon Third as aro/ace, so this is a duoholders universe.
Also, Third becomes a therapist. He figured he would be qualified after so many years being the therapist friend. And he is good at it, but he also runs into the Twilight issue. Even so, the 3 are never far apart from each other. Third does have his own place, but he's always there if the other two need anything and vice versa.
(I have a weird version of trioholders where, while the first two holders are romantically involved, their friendship with Third runs so deep, that if he died, they would be destroyed. Same with Yoichi and Second. They all need and understand each other in a way so deeply, it goes beyond any normal intimacy. Like, platonic soulmates I guess is the best word for that.)
Hikage lives in the woods. After 18 years of being chased around, he decided to fake his death and give OFA to Banjo. So, now he lives with the forest creatures in peace. Third still drags him out for the occasional family dinner though.
Banjo uses his extra immortal time to become talented at, not just normal hobbies, but really weird stuff like peeling a banana with his feet like a monkey. In addition to bothering Hikage, he decided to try his hand at a childhood dream and become a cowboy. That didn't work out, so he travels the world instead.
My headcanon for En is that he had 5 siblings, so immortality would give him a lot of grieving to do. However, I also headcanon him as a lover of reptiles and technology, so he used his immortal time to get acquainted with all the new tech coming out each year and finally get a pet chameleon. He also got a degree in Graphic Art. However, he chooses to make his money by doing commissions.
Nana did give away her son after her husband died, but only until she faked her death. Then she got him back, so Kotaro doesn't end up being as bad, but there's definitely still some tension between them as she didn't tell him about her plan. She hides away, with Gran Torino helping her try to raise Kotaro as normally as possible. Meaning his last name does end up changed because Torino adopts him, but he co-parents with Nana. It's complicated. At least Hana and Tenko are happy children with grandparents who spoil them and a better dad. Nobody wants to be on the bad side of both Nana and Gran Torino.
Toshinori did not know about the immortality thing. Nana forgot to tell him, and he just thought his master had really good genes. So, he has the same knowledge in canon. In fact, his life is pretty much like canon, as they figured it was best that he goes to America for a bit to keep AFO away from Nana's hiding place. He also gets into the same fight with AFO, but sustains the same damage. You see, the immortality quirk doesn't keep them from getting hurt, it just keeps them from dying.
Oh yeah, remember the family dinners Hikage gets dragged to? Those are between every OFA user. Toshinori just thinks they're historians who love to joke around. He has to believe it at this point. At least they only happen once a year, unless there's an emergency, like a new user or a faked death. Or, AFO dying (is he dead?)
Then Toshinori brings Izuku to OFA family dinner. Cue the awing over the new user (who looks oddly familiar). There was some worry over how Izuku would adjust to the quirk, but they all assumed All Might had it figured out. That man was taught by someone who beat the crap out of him daily. All Might did not have it figured out.
(After the AFO fight, the other users convinced All Might to get a hobby or something, so he decided to try and get the credentials to become a teacher, because he always loved children. The credits to become a kindergarten teacher that is, so the jump to high school is still going to take some adjustment. Not to mention training a middle school boy to handle a quirk you gave them. I don't think there's a book on that.)
After the entrance exams, out of worry for their new user, all the vestiges move to the Musutafu area around UA to help with Izuku's training. The users get along great with Inko (who was told about OFA.) And Yoichi's brother and Inko's husband sure have a lot of similarities. What a coincidence...
From here they get upto all sorts of school-themed hijinks, but I'll let you imagine them. (The eventual meeting with Aizawa is always a fun one to imagine)
Uh... this did not turn out how I thought it would. It was supposed to be random headcanons and not a story outline. I did keep some stuff vague on purpose. Anyway, I hope you liked it :)

You know makes Kudou's comments so weird is that he read Izuku's memories without his consent. But besides that, all long did Kudou know this information about Izuku? Do the other previous holders know about this and why haven't they said anything to izuku to help address his mental issues or try and resolve this moral dilemma what are these ghosts even good for besides their quirks?
THIS!!!!
At this point Iam convinced that horikoshi introduced the vestiges for the sake of introducing them because let's be honest they barely contribute anything to the story and aren't important at all except of nana and yoichi.
The whole memory reading thing seems like a horrible plot point to me because let's be honest if they were able to see this child's memories then why did the not help him at all with anything. Horikoshi hasn't really developed izuku and izuku still thinks badly of himself and doesn't view himself worthy of the quirk but the OFA user's never reassure izuku or really help him. The best thing we got from them is nana telling izuku to kill Tenko and banjo just shouting at Izuku telling how to control the quirk. Sadly none of these help and the whole second and third users of OFA having a problem with Izuku is so forced in my opinion. Like there is no logic behind it and they still somewhat have a problem with him.
Out of topic but have you ever wondered why it's only gear shift that somehow hurts and really damages izuku like to me it makes no sense is it supposed to be some sick and twisted symbolism of how kudo (bk2.0) hates izuku?!?! Why is gear shift the only quirk that hurts him? I mean like considering the fact that quirks get stronger each generation then the quirk that should harm him most is nana's but we never see float damage izuku in any way.
To me the ghosts are a horrible plot point and so is OFA as a whole like the vestiges have weak QUIRKS at best, barely help or offer anything to izuku and just sit around in that vestige world. Also isn't it creepy how kudo can just see everything but izuku has to be granted the permission to see memories and can't go around seeing other vestiges memories?!?!?

I feel pretty meh about the Second User. I get that he's from a "kill or be killed" time in history, but even the Third User could see that Izuku was pushing himself too hard and needed to rest, and he was from that same period of history. What's Second's excuse? How the hell did the 180 from "I refuse to even look at him," to "I respect him pushing himself beyond his breaking point," like what the actuall hell?
That being said, the more the narrative connects him with Bakugou, the more I dislike him.
Hi @nutzgunray-lvt 👋,
I hate Second or rather "Kudo" he's one of my least favourite OFA users.
His introduction of refusing to look at Izuku and refusing initially to let him unlock his quirk did sour me against him a bit. But it peaked my interest. It could have been an interesting and sympathetic avenue if this was due to DFO reasons.
But it wasn't.
He and Third were just sulking. That made me dislike him and Third, because how pathetic is that.
And you expect me to believe this man was a commander, Hori? Bitch Please. The attitude of "I refuse to look at him" was stupidly petty (Izuku is the ninth and last holder - they know this and choose to make life difficult - because they can!) And the "I respect him for going beyond his limits" is suicidally stupid especially as Izu is the Ninth - and last - OFA holder. Second as a 'supposed' commander should be encouraging Izuku to constantly stop and take care of himself so he has a better chance of winning (like he did in the Dark Deku arc.)
I hate the supposed similarities between Second (Bkg 2.0) and Bakugou too because - way to get lazy with character design and force BAKUGOU into Izuku's plot again, Hori. 😒 I also hate how Second is getting more focus than First like come on Hori...

While I am well aware the series is complete on Ao3, what’s your take on if the parent summoning quirk in Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong got confused and- instead of just summoning Hisashi and Yoichi, also summoned all of the other OfA wielders, as they were when they first got the quirk?
For the sake of not sinking my duo/trioholders ship, Yoichi gets summoned when he first got the stockpiling quirk too, as an adult. Hisashi is the only child because it turns out he stole stockpiling when he was only five years old.
Going by his canon backstory, Hisashi is extremely feral. The other vestiges realize pretty quickly who he is and freak out. Yoichi begs them not to tell anyone because he's scared of what the HPSC might do to his child brother. They agree reluctantly, but they will at least tell All Might. That will have consequences.
Adult Yoichi is very protective of his brother in this AU, partly because he got summoned before he completely lost hope in his brother and partly because everyone else's hostility makes him feel defensive. Yoichi doesn't remember Second and Third, since he got his quirk before he met him. But they remember and love him so there's a lot of awkward pining.
Little Hisashi does not recognize adult Yoichi and freaks out about his brother being gone. Yoichi manages to convince him by talking in twin language. However Hisashi is not thrilled that his little brother got bigger than him. He keeps looking for a power to shrink Yoichi back down.
Nana does not remember Toshinori. Again, she got summoned when she first accepted One for All. Mentally she is younger than him. However the two of them still instantly hit it off and become friends.
Banjo and En decide they want to become heroes again. They team up. Hikage just leaves to go back to the forest. No one can find him. Banjo is the first to warm up to little Hisashi, he thinks the kid is funny. Hisashi keeps climbing all over Banjo to steal his quirk, but all past OFA holders have access to OFA's power and are immune. Banjo mistakes all this grabbing for affection.
Adult AFO still wants Yoichi more than anything else in the world. As a secondary priority, he'd love to kill Second again. That said, with nine One for All holders alive, he has to move a lot more cautiously.
The monopoly games are legendary. One such game results in Might Tower being burned down.

How about 5 headcanons for an AU where All Might can't pass on One for All unless all the vestiges agree? They are super-picky and have been preventing him from finding a successor for decades. It gets harder to get a unanimous vote with each new ghost added. Instead of clearing a beach, Izuku must win each vestige's approval to succeed All Might. Thank you!
*finger guns*
On it boss!
Let's make it clear that the choice for the next Successor is only taking so long because the Vestiges now have time. They have time to choose. Before it was so fast. They had to choose fast because the Users dropped dead far too fast. Shinomori, Banjou, and En's decisions were all unamionous agreement so quickly because their current holder was dying and they have to pass down the Light that may defeat AFO. With Nana and Yagi, they had time to choose. And boy oh boy they were using the time with Yagi to fucking choose.
Sir Nighteye here I feel like would be so frustrated over the fact that every single one of the Past Users have to agree. He is trying so hard to find a perfect successor for not only All Might but also the past users. The reason why Mirio was rejected was due to how Third and Second felt like he wouldn’t have the determination to truly push through all the boundaries to do the right thing.
When Yagi chose Izuku as his successor, he had to go and disclose to him that he must not only win the approval of Yagi but all then past users of OFA. You got to rizz them up Izuku. You got to win their approval so that OFA won’t just simply be “Unfortunate. You just swallowed hair.” Izuku still needs to clean up the garbage in the Beach though. Still got to get in shape and rizz Yagi after all.
Do want to say that all users have a different reason why they don’t believe Izuku is the right successor. En I always headcanon to have been the youngest OFA user before Izuku and when he got OFA that messed him up bad mentally. Do not have a kid be the next user that will ruin him. I don’t have everyone’s reasons but I do believe that Second would still have the doubt that Izuku wouldn’t be able to go through with the convictions and may be too soft.
Izuku basically goes through a history lesson and workout with this. He is learning about the world and what the past users went through and trying to empathize with them. Early past OFA user meet is always something I love.

How about an AU where all the OFA holders (except for Yoichi and Toshinori) had mutation quirks and they started manifesting after during the entrance exam.
The mutations started coming in immediately, but it wasn't noticeable yet. Midoriya assumed the strange sensations were just nerves. This is important because the mutations both improve Midoriya's musculature and help channel One For All. As such he naturally had somewhere between 3%-4% Full Cowling at the exam.
With the adrenaline, Midoriya didn't notice as the changes progressed to be noticeable, stepping out of his shoes with hooved feet without realizing his posture had changed. Instinctively slamming a tail into a robot without processing the new limb. Clawing clean through robots and thinking it was his strength. Not noticing the large insect wings he grew because he thought he leapt like how All Might does.
Uraraka is the one to point out to him what happened after she helps him land with the new wings and innocently comments on watching them come in, assuming that's a normal thing. Midoriya blinked at her a few times, finally saw what had become of his body, and freaked the fuck out.
Inko did not buy the explanation about how Midoriya spontaneously developed this chimeric mash-up as a Quirk and had to have One For All explained to her. Luckily, All Might would recognize those wings anywhere, and had heard of En's Quirk from Shimura, so he figured out what happened.
Midoriya is placed in a Quirk Support Group for the sudden changes in his body. Ippan Josei is a part of the group, as is Toga, who is doing slightly better thanks to being in the group. Tsunotori is also a member of the group in part due to the culture clash between America and Japan, and she ends up another close friend of his at UA.
+1. All of these Quirks have been improved by One For All, so the mutations he gets is not one-to-one with what his predecessors had. From Second, he got ram hooves and horns. From Third, he got scutes/scales. From Shinomori, he got wolf fur, ears and a snout. from Banjo, he got panther paws. From En, he got a shark tail, as well as shark teeth, and his muzzle was slightly adjusted to be more sharklike. Finally, from Shimura, he got moth wings, antennae and fluff around his neck. (This has nothing to do with you, StarredMoth, I just think moths are neat)
+2. Mutations like these when combined with One For All result in some physical growth. More specifically, while Midoriya is still lean muscle compared to All Might, he's even more jacked than in canon.

Some OFA Previous Users thoughts I need to get out of my system otherwise I won't be able to properly function anymore
We know now that Kudou (2nd user) and Bruce (3rd user) notice that Kudou has a second quirk only after Yoichi's death. This means that Yoichi didn't pass OFA before that, but he did it while he was dying -Bruce asks if Kudou had contact with AFO, they they had no idea that Yoichi could pass the quirk. We also know that OFA can't be transferred without the holder's consent, so as AFO was pulverizing him Yoichi must have thought something like "i want to stay with Kudou" or something along that line and as he bleed all over Kudou's face, including his eyes, he unconsciously transferred OFA. So Kudou's tears are not only for the pain of Yoichi's death, it's Yoichi's quirk and will passing and creating the chain that brings OFA for the future.
Kudou says that the only thing that can help bring back Izuku from the dark spiraling he's gone into is "those who will with the same intent, at the same pace, continue to run alongside him". He says this like he speaks from experience, and I can totally see it happening to him too: losing Yoichi, inheriting OFA, having to lead the rebellion, deciding to shoulder everything by himself. But he had someone who was on the same page as him who kept him sane and helped him every step of the way. Who? Bruce. The third user -and probably the whole rebellion group- definitely is a mirror to the relationship Izuku has to 1A. We all know of the parallelism between Yoichi and Izuku and Kudou and Bakugou, so Bruce has a parallelism to 1A as a whole -and, at least in my eyes, to specific people of 1A (such as Shoto, Tenya and Ochako).
As Yoichi died, Kudou and Bruce had no idea of how OFA worked and how could be passed down. They definitely spent time to figure things out, and I do wonder if they had any type of conversation with Yoichi's vestige while doing it. I do believe they swapped blood instead of hair to pass OFA, and that it was Hikage that went with hair (since he was convinced he was dying for a illness and probably didn't want to pass it to Banjo)
Speaking of Hikage and Banjo, the fact that Hikage was in isolation for 18 years (or more. Was he already an hermit when Bruce gave him OFA?) and then decided to pass the quirk to a loud and brash man is very interesting on his own. How do they met? What was their relationship?
Banjo is bald. So what did he use to pass OFA to En? I hope it was his beard.
Izuku believes he will be the last holder of OFA since quirkless people are very rare to find nowadays, but we do know at least three people that are "supposedly" quirkless RN. One is Aoyama (born quirkless, got a quirk by AFO. We don't know if AFO's eventual death will cause his acquired quirk to vanish, but if he receive a quirk like OFA he may be probably able to hold it). The others are Hawks and Ragdoll (who got their quirk stolen by AFO, so their bodies are currently "empty"). I don't think he's gonna pass it to neither of them, but the Aoyama option would work great as a means to complete his redemption arc, so to speak. [There is also All Might, but I don't think he can get it back]

Y'know,
It's ironic how the 4th holder of OFA, Shinomori, had his name written in 四ノ森,
which sounds the same as 死の森 (lit. forest of death), yet the reason he's the second longest to held OFA is because he's hiding in the forest. (Although this can also be interpreted as he died in the forest)
