Honour your father and mother is the fifth commandment. Obeying it comes with a blessing of long life. Let us examine how we can give honour to our parents in practical ways: First, you can honour your parents by forgiving them. Your parents might have offended you by saying or doing some bad things against you. They might have made some unwise decisions that negatively affected your life. Jesus forgave those who nailed him to the cross, leaving us a great example (Luke 23:34). You too should honour your parents by extending grace and forgiveness to them. Second, you can honour your parents by speaking well of them when they are alive and when they have died. Speak well of them to your churches and communities The Bible warns children not to curse or assault their parents. That would amount to violating the fifth and the sixth commandments (Exodus 21: 15-17; Leviticus 20:9). The third way to honour your parents is to esteem them publicly and privately. You can tell your parents the godly values you learnt from them (honesty, bravery, saving money, etc) or write them a formal tribute. Parents derive joy and honour from this. Another way to honour your parents is to seek their advice and wisdom through the twists and turns of life. The Bible associates old age with greater wisdom (Proverbs 20:29); Job 12:12). So seek your parents’ advice and help on important issues of life. They will feel honoured. You can also honour your parents by supporting them with love, care, finance, etc. It is wrong to fail to call your parents on phone and visit them regularly. Finally, you can honoir your parents by providing for them. The Bible says that if you do not provide for your family, you are worse than an infidel. Your parents are members of your family. When you are a child, God expects your parents to provide for you and when your parents are old, He expects you to provide for them. In Mark 7:9-13, Jesus harshly rebuked the Pharisees for their refusal to care for their parents. Beloved, honouring your parents should be an outflow of honouring God.

MESSAGE: Communication practice and theory teach that repeating and re-echoing events and messages when done in the right way, adds emphasis, aids understanding of the message and prolongs its effects. Good repetition has been described as a powerful tool that can be used to make your audience develop interest or believe in your words. Although not many people want to repeat what they have previously said, most famous sayings and speeches contain repetitions. As a God-ordained minister and leader, Moses would not shy away from reminding the children of Israel of the statutes (laws) and judgments (precepts) that have been previously given to them by God in Horeb. He also reminded them that they were a people of covenant with God. First, Moses reiterated that the statutes, judgments and covenants were meant for the people of his time lest they come under the illusion that these things applied only to previous generations. He reminded them of their great deliverance from Egypt and the lifelong divine decree against idolatry. In all, he emphasized the need for the Israelites to learn, keep and do God’s commandment in order to escape divine judgment. Today’s society is characterized by flagrant disobedience to God’s commandments. Idolatry, immorality, avarice, violent crimes, anti-God policies, mere religiosity and other vices are spreading fast. Attempts are constantly made to stop the spread of God’s word and righteous preachers from re-echoing the all-important message of righteousness. At best, many would have wished a society without the statutes and judgments of God. Yet we know that a world without God’s word is groping in absolute darkness. The Lord wants every child of His to learn, keep His commandments and rehearse it for others. Examination of conscience:

The Ten Commandments.

1) I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt have no other gods before me, nor make unto thyself any graven image.

Have I tried to “pray without ceasing,” and remember that God is above all things in my life? Have I neglected my prayers, prioritized other things above God, or been superstitious? Are there any ways in which I have committed idolatry?

2) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Have I sworn falsely? Have I mislead others in regards to my faith? Have I blasphemed in anger, or been irreverent in jest? Are there any ways in which my lips have profaned the holy?

3) Thou shalt honor the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Have I tried to set aside at least an hour on the Lord’s day for Him alone? Have I attended Mass if able, or prayed with the Church if not? Have I resented the time spent with Him? Are there any ways in which I have withheld my time from God?

4) Thou shalt honor thy father and mother, that thy days may be long in the world the Lord thy God promise thee.

Have I sought to obey my parents in all things not contrary to the laws of God? Have I spoken in anger to them, or of them? Have I listened to their advice, or have I dismissed and scoffed at them? Have I comported myself around others so that the family name is an honor, or a disgrace? Are there any ways in which I have made my parents ashamed to have me as a daughter?

5) Thou shalt not kill.

Have I been reckless or caused endangerment to myself or others? Have I respected every human being I come into contact with as a child of God, and withheld my anger from them? Have I cursed anyone, silently or out loud? Are there any ways in which I have supported or seemed to support abortion, euthanasia, or the death penalty?

6) Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Have I guarded my eyes? Have I indulged impure thoughts? Have I been impure?

7) Thou shalt not steal.

Have I taken anything that does not rightly belong to me, or in anyway benefited from being dishonest to those around me? Have I discharged all my debts and fulfilled all my obligations to the best of my ability? Are there any ways in which I have not been just or honest in my dealings with my family, coworkers, customers, or employers?

8) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Have I gossiped, or encouraged others’ gossip? Have I lied about somebody’s behavior, or judged them hastily and spread my judgement? Have I assumed the worst about somebody and complained about them? Have I kept silent about extenuating circumstances that would make people’s judgment of somebody’s actions more kind, or have I shared only the bad things that somebody has done and none of the good?

9) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.

Have I tried to live out my current vocation to the best of my ability? Have I allowed jealousy, loneliness, or fear to keep me from loving in the way appropriate to my current state? Have I tried to punish others for being happy?

10) Nor anything belonging to thy neighbor.

Have I wanted any good thing to be taken from those around me, either so that I may have it instead or so that they may not have it? Have I harbored resentment towards those better off than I am? Have I been ungrateful for the goods that have been granted me, and allowed others’ happiness to sour my own?

The Seven Deadly Sins:

1) Pride.

Have I thought too much of myself and my opinions, or been too concerned with how I appear to others? Have I been scrupulous?

2) Avarice.

Have I been ungenerous with my time and money?

3) Lust.

Have I tried to keep my eyes, thoughts, and words from unchastity?

4) Envy.

Have I allowed other people’s happiness and good fortune to make me unhappy, or wished ill on them for their happiness?

5) Gluttony.

Have I eaten past the point of reason, and foods that are detrimental to my health?

6) Wrath.

Have I raised my voice or used cruel words in anger? Have I been unkind or impatient with those around me?

7) Sloth.

Have I neglected my duties or wasted the time that God has given me?

The Six Precepts of the Church:

1) To attend Mass on all Sundays and Holy Days of obligation.

Have I intentionally missed Mass for reasons other than health or safety?

2) To confess your sins at least once a year.

Have I been avoiding the sacrament of reconciliation out of a fear of reforming my life?

3) To receive the Holy Eucharist at least once a year, especially during the Easter season.

Have I been complacent about the gift of Christ in the Eucharist?

4) To keep holy the holy days of obligation.

Have I observed the feasts of the Church?

5) To observe prescribed days of fasting and penance.

Have I abstained on Fridays, or made some other sacrifice?

6) To attend to the needs of the Church.

Have I tithed, volunteered, or otherwise participated in the life of my parish?

The Two Sins Against the Holy Spirit:

1) Presumption.

I must firmly resolve to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin. I shall die, and it is not given to me to know the time or the hour. My judgment will come like a thief in the night, and if I presume on God’s mercy I have not truly repented.

2) Despair.

I must trust in God’s infinite love. Although I know that I am frail and human, I must have hope in Christ and the help of God’s grace. The Holy Spirit intercedes constantly on my behalf, and if I despair of God’s mercy I have not truly repented.

I'm over here cracking up because people get mad when you talk about pagan gods and tell you there is only one god and tell you your going to hell for being pagan. Dude, If your gonna attack my spirituality, let me point out a few things.

Let's look at Deuteronomy 5:6-5:9, just before the ten commandments.

5:6 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me. 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Notice how he says “thy God” specifically? He is stating he is their god, implying that there are different gods, which he proceeds to segregate himself from. “Thou shalt have none other gods before me.” Solidifies the implication that there are other gods. A lot of people don't realize that the word Elohim in the O.T. is used 2602 times and is plural for GODS. It is not only used to reference the Abrahamic gods but also the Egyptian gods, Supernatural Spirits, Angels, etc.

“Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth” Here he is listing the different planes/spheres/homes of other deities. Such as higher vibrational deities in the higher levels of existence that dwell in their own kingdoms, or what we as humans view as heavens. Examples being deities like Odin, Zeus, Horus, Kannon, Lugh. ect. Also, “in the earth beneath” is likely referencing dieties like Hades, Anubis, Hel, Yama, Meng Po, ect. Not to mention “waters beneath the earth” can have a double meaning. It could be referring to deities of water like Poseidon, Njǫrd, Dagon, Naamah, ect. But I also believe it is talking about gods of magic as well and gods of nature.

“Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God” this backs it up yet again that there is more than one god, or at least its what the Abrahamic god seems to be implying. He mentions he is JEALOUS, jealous of what you may ask? Other more powerful gods. Who he wishes to grow more powerful than by gaining more followers of which to shape to his whims. And this Yahweh holds grudges. “visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me” over and over in the old testament he displays that he is a wrathful, demanding god. He used promises of mercy to manipulate his followers into obedient sheep.

What other god calls for the persecution/conversion of other gods followers? None that I can think of, and you know why most other gods don't care about conversion and don't order their followers to hate other religions? Because they have no need to, the abrahamic god must have felt so vulnerable that he sought to usurp the other gods, and since the other gods don't see him as a threat, they just let him flex. I'm not saying the Abrahamic god isn't real, nor am I attacking Christianity. I am merely pointing out what your holy books say, so, leave my spirituality alone and I wont point out the contradictions in yours. And if I'm “going to hell”, well its none of your concern. I got my sugar daddy down there anyway, I'm not too concerned.

Which means one day longer not becoming blessed by GOD because everyone has to serve all of their sins. I did go to one of your basketball games when you had a neck injury and GOD knows because that was the same day I received my 1,000,000 million dollars for not sinning in 29 years.
