with summer ending, school starting, and the fall season fast approaching, attina had no shortage of work. she usually worked at the community pool, but if the beach was short handed, she’d go there. today was one of those days, as it was still nice out. the shift went smoothly and as it neared 7 and they closed down the beach, she noticed someone running toward her through the sand. they didn’t seem distressed or anything, but something must have happened if they were running. she jogged to meet them half way, “is there something i can help you with? do you need something?“

attina watched the dancing from afar. it looked really fun and elegant, but she wasn’t sure if it was something she’d be able to do with the dress she was wearing. it wasn’t restively tight, but her strides were much shorter compared to when she wore normal clothes. she could probably do it, but it wouldn’t be as smooth as she saw some of the women moving. she turned to the stranger beside her, “beautiful, isn’t it?” referring to the waltz currently happening.

.｡.:*☆ Grogu really had no idea what to do. After fishing the dog out of the water, he was looking around for the owner. But, it did not seem like there was an owner. Or, better, no one he could see, at least.

He panted when spotting the young woman, waving at her. “There was a god… he almost drowned, Miss, and I am not sure what I can do now to help him? I do not really have much experience, and do not wanna do anything wrong?”

she hadn’t noticed the dog right away but as she neared him, attina saw the soaked thing. she  crouched down and motioned for the other to put it down, letting it walk to her. it didn’t seem to be hacking or coughing up water, so she assumed it was at least a decent swimmer. she looked the dog over and looked back at the person who found it, “i’m not a vet or anything, but it seems to be okay. i don’t see a tag or anything. i’d suggest taking it to the closest veterinary or animal shelter, maybe it has a chip or something.” she gave a hopeful smile.

this wasn’t her first formal event, but it was attina’s first masquerade/costume party combination event she’d been to. obviously it was because it’s october, but it was an interesting theme for sure. though she supposed it made sense because a masquerade was kind of like dressing up in a costume. either way, she was ready to have a good night. “love your outfit.” attina said when she happened to be walking beside someone as they entered the whitehouse.

it was getting later in the evening - but by party standards, the night was still young. attina was getting tired. she usually wasn’t much of a wallflower, but she needed to lean against something, just to stay upright if anything. “what are your thoughts on the event?” she asked casually to the person next to her.

Ariel loved going to the beach often, to hear the waves crashing against the sand.. -she also loved to feel the warmth, so when she noticed a familiar voice.. that warmth rotated to her face, she was so happy to see all her sisters starting to arrive.. it was like a family reunion, now that made her nervous her father would show up.. would he take away from her human ability? “-is there something you can help me with? no, attina.. i’m just happy to see you, when’d you get here? -wow you’re really rocking the whole legs look.. -you got two of them!” she smiled.

when the other said her name, it caught her off guard. maybe she just frequented the pool where she worked or the beach (since she’s been picking up a lot of shifts here lately), and over heard coworkers calling for her and stuff. she rose a brow in confusion but continued the conversation, “you’re happy to see me?” she looked down at her feet, “yes, and so do you..” the other’s words were confusing her now. “can i ask how you know my name? do you have a membership for the pool downtown or something?”

“I found something so cool!” Groot replied with an excited squeal as he ran over to hand it to the lifeguard. He was told that you should always give people who like a present when you get something that thinks of them and with him coming to the beach almost every day, he had seen her a lot and thought she was very pretty. “This! It looks so pretty and it made me think of you.” Groot replied, offering her the seashell.

attina always loved seeing people’s wonder at the beach. no matter their age. so when this person came up to her she couldn’t help but smile. when he showed her the shell her she took it and observed it. “it is very pretty. thank you. you know-” she looked at him again, recognizing him a little, “i think i’ve seen you here a few times.” she doesn’t work at the beach often, but in the times she had, she was pretty sure she’d seen him. “do you frequent the beach a lot?”

exhausted, the only word to describe herself lately, or since a few days back. the blonde needed to distract herself from the negative thoughts. accidents happened, right? sure they did. without thinking, she ran on the beach, it felt good to run barefoot and to feel the sand against her feet. she came to stop, all of sudden a woman ran up to her. her eyes narrowed and she glared at her “why would you want to help me with something?” she asked her, annoyed she stopped her. did it look like she was lost or was anything else wrong?

attina took a step back, not expecting the other to snap at her. “sorry, i just couldn’t tell if you were running toward me or just taking a run on the beach. i just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong.”

she looks at the other slightly surprised, wondering why he didn’t just come earlier in the day. “we’re just finishing packing up and such, but if you’re wanting to swim or do anything, you’re free to. the lifeguards just leave at 7. there’s no way to actually close the beach, ya know?” she chuckled a little to herself.

attina looks at the other confused, then smiles when she explains herself, “well, there’s plenty of that here,” she chuckled. she motions to the water behind her, then turns around to walk with the other, hoping she won’t mind, “oh, you can come anytime you want. ‘closing’ just means that the lifeguards go home. so after 7 it’s swim at your own risk pretty much.”

attina was excited for this party, there was no doubt about that. an excuse to not only dress up, but also wear a mask and be mysterious? sign her up. arriving at the whitehouse, she hadn’t even made it to the front stairs when she bumped into someone. “oh sorry. just taking everything in, i suppose. i don’t get out much.” she rambled with an awkward chuckle.

all melody wanted was to be in the water, to swim. it was what made her happy, she was drawn to the ocean, obviously, her families history made that make sense. she’d spent the day at the beach, mostly in the water until she noticed everybody else leaving, she was making her way down the beach, rather fast but was stopped in her tracks as she heard a voice calling out to her, the face looked familiar, but she was going to be careful, she knew there were people who looked like others here, and her own mother didn’t recognize her “me?” she raised an eyebrow, turning to face the other “nope, no. i’m all good.” she nodded her head “i didn’t want to keep you here too late.”

attina nodded as the other looked confused. she wiped her forehead and smiled, as if to say ‘good’. she waved off the following comment too, “it’s all good. i’m just helping the lifeguards pack up. we all leave at this time, but you’re still free to swim or use the beach as you want. there’s just no supervision. so it’s ‘at your own risk’ if you decide to go out in the water.” she said with a kind smile.

the idea that this landlocked sandy area with a disgusting pond was even referred to as a beach was almost laughable, already irritated at having agreed to meet another one of the interns there for a morning job to keep up appearance. after quickly ditching them, she wanted to make a beeline back to her car, letting out a huff as someone else approached her. “yeah, you can help me by butting out and minding your own business,” elara responded easily, raising a brow and tugging the headphone out of her ear, throwing an annoyed expression in the other girl’s direction. 

“okay sorry,“ attina said kindly, her work face still on. though in her mind she was taken aback a little at the snap and wanted to snap back. “i didn’t see...your...headphones.“ she said slowly as she wasn’t sure if she should really continue talking with the other since they seemed upset, either at her or just at something. “let me know if you need anything.“ she said before turning around to head to the other lifeguards to finish helping pack up.

He enjoyed the fall, mainly because the sun set earlier in the day and by 7 he could go to the beach. So, in his swim trunks and a t-shirt, he trek’d to the beach and thought he was alone - truly - until he heard a voice. Freezing, he slowly turned around before placing a calm expression on his face, “I’m fine,” he said, “just enjoying the night, right?”

she put her hands up apologetically, “sorry didn’t mean to startle you. that’s totally fine.” she said with a nod, “i’m sure you know this, but just in case not, we are packing up right now, so there’s not going to be any lifeguards out. you’re on your own out there.” she looks out to the water as she finishes.

connor paused when he reached her to catch his breath. “nothing urgent - i was just trying to clean up the beach down there and it’s disgusting, i don’t understand how people can be so messy.” he admitted. “do you guys have any plastic bags? i don’t want to miss anything but i don’t think i can carry it all.”

she looked in the direction he pointed, and nodded knowingly, “yeah, that’s a common place for tourists to hang out and they’re very good about leaving their trash,” she rolled her eyes, “i’m sure you know that though. do you do this often?” she shook her head apologetically, “unfortunately we don’t. i think there’s a small corner store nearby if you want to ask them for bags. sorry.”
