though, i think that when your life is in danger, he loses it a little bit. that would be the one instance where i think you could see his mask slip. like if you get kidnapped by one of his enemies, or almost killed in a mission, etc. dazai goes a little bit wild about that, and that's how he realizes you know, maybe i feel something more for them than i thought ??

once you're officially officially together, honestly... i think moments of pure love and affection will catch him off guard very easily. dazai hasn't ever had anyone treat him gently, so when you do something kind for him without asking for anything in return, he is genuinely confused :( he's more willing to let you see his vulnerabilities at this point, so he won't hide the fact that he's surprised. but i can imagine him trying to offer you something in return for such a small favor. like you do his laundry for him or something when he's exhausted and he buys you a gift in return and you're like ??? what is this for and he's like well i just didn't want to be in your debt. and you laugh a little because you think he's kidding, but he just wrinkles his eyebrows because it's a trade-off isn't it ?? it takes him a while to really understand that you just love him and don't want anything in return :((
