It wasn’t quite the answer to the question she asked , but it was an answer nonetheless. One could surmise his presence here was related to the answer he had given. He was here for Shinya in some way , shape , or form. But for a demon usually so calm and relaxed , playful even , there was a terrifying chill to the ruthless vacancy in his eyes. At least for now however his wrath was not directed towards her. Blue eyes stare at her for a moment before lifting to look ahead.

“ They locked Shinya up. And they’re currently trying to keep me suppressed. I’ll kill them if they leave any wounds on him. You can tell them that if you want. “ Byakkomaru adds after a few seconds passed , his ears flattening against his head in anger. Though his wrath was not directed at her , it was a position that undoubtedly no one would wish to be in. It was enough of a motive he was clearly pushing through boundaries he SHOULDN’T be able to. Only one vault was secure enough to truly keep him pinned down ; but for some reason they hadn’t put him there yet. It was confusing. Nothing made sense.

“ . . . What are you doing here ? Especially at this hour ? “ The halls were empty other than them. Now that someone was interacting with him , his blinded rage had tampered down a bit more to curiosity. “ You don’t know anything in regards to Shinya , do you ? If not - stay away from Guren. “ He DOUBTED that she had any knowledge of the situation , but Byakkomaru would take anything he could get. Just what the hell was going on lately ?

A deep purr rumbled in Byakkomaru’s chest as pins Shinya up against a wall , one hand leaning against the wall while the other curled with a fierce possessiveness around the sniper’s waist. Blue eyes shine with mischief , bending close till their breaths entwined in the air. ( Not that the demon NEEDED to breathe but it was a long held subconscious habit he didn’t think about. )

It was Byakkomaru who bent his head down and laid claim to Shinya’s mouth with a full kiss full of contradictions. Gentle yet full and demanding , seeking out the other despite the connection that they already held. He never could get enough. Each kiss both delighted and fueled him , like a particularly strong drink. Whether it was soft , casual kisses , fleeting ones , or hungry ones that threatened to devour each other , each had the demon’s full focus.

Which was likely the very reason he hadn’t noticed Shinya’s hands carefully sliding over him , too focused on Shinya and the way their mouths slotted together. Fingertips press against the smooth muscles of his lower back and Byakkomaru’s eyes snap open with an audible gasp when he feels the touch against the bare skin. His ears perk up as he shivers slightly , and another , stronger shiver follows when he feels the fingers tracing circles over his skin. He doesn’t have to look to know that Shinya was probably very smug about drawing this reaction out of the demon. Muscles tense and relax as Byakkomaru looks back down at Shinya with a playful growl. So that’s how he was planning to play , was it ? Two could play that game.

“ You better not be busy. “ Byakkomaru warns with a fanged smile , pulling Shinya against him further till they could feel each other as he bends his head down to catch Shinya’s lip in his mouth and nip at him.

Byakkomaru shook his head from where he was standing outside said doors of the room with a hand covering his face in a manner which exemplified exasperation. It was easy in this world to forget how kids were kids. Even with all the death and slaughter and wretched state of the world , there were times they’d still find to be kids. Sure , Shinya and Byakkomaru could be playful , but the pure chaos inside that room was - well. A lot.

“ I believe it started with Shinoa and Mitsuba getting into an arguement and then Yuu and Kimizuki started and Yoichi is , well. “ No one even needed to explain it. “ Guren’s somehow sleeping through it all and Shinya’s making bets with himself. “ Well. Maybe Byakkomaru had made a bet too but Elyon couldn’t prove that.

“ Though if you wish for chaos , that is the place. Or if you want some soda. They found some while returning from a mission but it’s in the midst of the chaos. “ Byakkomaru gave a snort , dropping his hand down to rest on his lap , blue eyes watching her curiously with perked ears. “ If you need something more serious though , I can see what I can do. Unless your demon is still upset about getting bit in half. “ Of which Byakkomaru felt no remorse for. It was one of the dangers of crossfires.

Byakkomaru wasn’t one of the demons that liked to start drama or fights , unlike some of the younger demons who seemed to delight in it ( especially Kiseki-o ) , but he was not going to sit by whenever IT appeared. He didn’t care what IT was other than he hated it , because IT was a threat to Shinya. At least that was how it seemed.

So when the tiger demon sensed Mahiru’s presence growing more active , he manifested in response , opting to remain in his tiger dorm rather than reveal his more humanoid form. His tail lashed around , blue eyes narrowed at he regarded IT. Though it seemed to be a girl , he neither cared nor lowered his guard for that fact.

“ Come near Shinya and I will cut you down. “ Byakkomaru warned , the usual playful attitude of the demon nothing but frigid ice. The beast beneath the mask of a laid-back demon. He sat down , tail wrapped calmly over his paws but his ever watchful eyes did not waver. “ I have said such before. So why are you appearing now ? I have no interest as long as you leave Shinya alone. “ Preferably the rest of the group too , but his wielder would always come first as far as Byakkomaru was concerned.

All thoughts cease when Byakkomaru feels Shinya’s arms wrap around and clutch onto him , hugging him tight. It is not that he minds ; far from that. Rather , it was the surprise at unprompted affection when it was often the demon himself who chose to initiate such close gestures. His surprise born inaction lasted only a brief second. No more , never more. Byakkomaru swiftly wrapped his arms around Shinya in turn to hold him close.

A deep purr rumbled forth from Byakkomaru’s chest as he rests his cheek against the top of Shinya’s head. Whatever the reason might be , Byakkomaru would always be beside Shinya to help and support. Even should one day he no longer be bound to the contract and weapon , he would choose to follow beside the sniper for as long as he was welcomed and wanted. To those Byakkomaru bonded and obeyed , he would be unyielding in his dedication to.

“ Everything okay ? “ Finally Byakkomaru murmurs softly so as to no break the peace of the moment , pressing a kiss to white strands of hair. It wasn’t a truly necessary question. He could of course simply look into the other’s mind himself if he wished. But Byakkomaru preferred to not do such things unless necessary. Maybe it was nothing beyond yearning for connection or the swell of affection. It certainly drove Byakkomaru to acts of affection at times. He did not mind. If Shinya needed shelter , he would be that shelter for him. If he wanted warmth and comfort , Byakkomaru would do all that he could. For this moment now , his larger form wraps around Shinya and keeps him close , happy to simply indulge in this moment with his wielder.

It was one of the nights where the world felt like a tomb with the weight of the silence that hung over everything. Even when he strained his ears , he couldn’t hear the sound of any Horsemen or creatures running around. But Byakkomaru stayed where he was despite that. The tiger that watched over the group , guarding though never explicitly tasked with such an assignment. Something so regular and steady that it was barely noticed if at all. Even if tonight he’d chosen his humanoid form over his typical tiger appearance.

He hadn’t expected anyone to be awake , much less react to him. But a sharp pain shot through his head and the next thing he found himself doing was on is knees on the ground. Hurt. His head.....It felt like something was pounding , tearing at a door of his mind. But what ? Orders ? Memories ? A low , pained growl crept from his chest , clawed hands clutching at his head and white strands of hair - and abruptly he was aware of someone standing near him.

Shinya ? No. No he was sleeping. But it was grounding to focus on this instead of the pain in his�� head. Byakkomaru lifted his head slightly , staring at Mito for a moment. That did explain it. Given their past chats OFTEN having occurred late at night , he shouldn’t be so surprised. Mito. Focus. Focus and ignore the pain.

“ . . . Mito ? “ He didn’t mean to make it sound like a question , but that’s what it came across as. “ I - How long have you - I’m okay. Shinya is fine ? “ Disoriented , even HE knew he didn’t sound as fine as he normally did given his typically calm demeanor. The night felt as quiet as ever. and he runs a hand through his hair , trying to regain his senses as he glanced around and then back to Mito.

If he was an elevator were certainly words that managed to catch the demon’s attention. Where was Shinya going with this ? Blue eyes focus on his wielder with interest , tiger ears perked and facing him. Yet the full statement has his eyes widening in surprise. Few managed to surprise him , but to have such a line directed at him ? That was new. Well played Shinya.

A deep rumble of laughter left the demon’s chest as he rose from his spot , prowling closer to Shinya with a grin. “ Hmm , good question. “ He answers with a playful tease , shamelessly eyeing the other up and down. “ Is someone wishing to call the elevator then ? It’d be my pleasure to answer such summons if so. “ He purrs , a hand reaching out to rest against Shinya’s hip unless otherwise swatted away.

“ I don’t get to what , Shinya ? “

How rare it is to witness the fall of the near ever-present smile from the white tiger’s face. Like wielder like demon , Byakkomaru was infamous for his smiling , easy going atmosphere that hid a ruthless brutality and strength. So many lives lost trying to form a contract with him. Yet in this instance now as he stares at Shinya , the smiles are gone for a seriousness that has very rarely ever peaked. His tone may grow serious but rarely is their such stoicism from the expressive soldier who kneels to his master’s command.

Not now. Now his ears flatten against long , snowy strands of hair as he looks downwards to meet blue eyes. It was like winter had suddenly snapped up the summer’s sun in its freezing jaws with how the shift is. He turns , walking closer towards Shinya.

“ You are my wielder and master , Shinya. That does not mean I am not allowed to care. “ Byakkomaru’s voice finally softens a fraction towards the end. No matter how close they grow , how much he dotes and adores on Shinya of his own will and desire , there is always also the reminder that such chains are always affixed to the demon “ I don’t get to share my opinion ? Don’t get to watch out for you ? “

The demon exhales , arms folding over his chest. “ I’m keeping an eye out for you. But ultimately you have the choice. “ Never once after forming their contract has Byakkomaru ever tried to control Shinya. He has no intentions of it now , even with how much he may disagree with Shinya’s actions. “ You don’t know what might happen. Things are not all that they seem to be. “

Cryptic but true , yet Byakkomaru can share no more. Instead , he stares up at the endless astral plane above them of the space within Shinya and his’s contract. Normally Byakkomaru would choose to appear in the real world , but for this he doesn’t. Just in case. Something gnaws on his bones like a starving dog and Byakkomaru chooses to listen to the warning against manifesting.

“ No , you’re right. It’s not my decision to make. I don’t get to force this choice on you ? “ He finishes for Shinya , hands falling to his side. He steps closer and closer till one hand lifts to gently brush over Shinya’s cheek. “ I hope it isn’t one that you have to make. But if it comes down to it , sacrifice your weapon and save yourself. Even if it means it being destroyed. Okay ? “

Not even Byakkomaru knew what would happen to himself if that were to occur. But would it matter so long as Shinya was safe ? No. That would be enough for the loyalty driven demon.

For someone so obviously distrusting of him , the girl’s words came as a surprise. She didn’t seem to have approached anyone else about the matter. Yet in spite of this , his head turns towards her to show he’s listening as she speaks up to share such a matter with him.

“ Weird dreams ? “

He lifts a hand to his chin in thought. If that was the subject matter , it did make some sense to come to him. Even among the records , he was labeled as one of the oldest demons. Age often carried with it wisdom and experience. And his life as a demon had been far long than his life as a human or vampire from what he could guess and brokenly remember ; he’d been a demon already when many current demon weapons were still vampires.

“ And I take it your little bat isn’t the cause of it ? “ Unless this was a request to beat down her demon , it was safe to assume he wasn’t responsible. “ How long have they been going on ? There’s a few things that it could be. Some rather small and inconsequential , but there are more grave and serious possibilities. I’m assuming they’re rather serious weird rather than funny weird. “

She wasn’t his wielder and she wasn’t particularly close , but that didn’t mean Byakkomaru was going to mess with her or ignore her evident concerns. Especially when it could be something major. “ If you are comfortable with it , can you tell me a bit about them ? “

( SEND ‘a moment of weakness’ FOR A GENERATED STARTER ) 9. Your muse is having a vivid nightmare and is shouting out brokenly.

The despair was heavy in the air , and soon a few broken shouts began to add to the sounds of the night. Byakkomaru’s head turned from where he was perched on top of a pile of rubble , keeping watch over the group as he often was. Shinya didn’t ask him to do it but he elected to anyways. Much like he elected to often stay in his tiger form and change to his humanoid form on whim.

Nightmares were nothing new to anyone of this world. Still , Byakkomaru rose up to jump down lightly and pad over towards Sayuri’s side. There was nothing he could do for her beyond what anyone else could do. He could only aid Shinya on that front. But that didn’t mean he didn’t have his own ways to try to help.

The tiger stretched out beside her and allowed a low , soothing purr to raise from his chest. It had helped Shinya and Mito before , it would likely to the same for her. Maybe it’d help soothe the worst of the nightmares. Only after it had been going for a few minutes did he bend his head to gently nudge her with his muzzle till he saw her stirring and rising out of her nightmare.

“ Sayuri , Sayuri it’s okay. “ He reassures her in a sooth voice , blue eyes watching carefully to see what he might need to do to help her relax. Hopefully a more peaceful sleep would find her shortly if his purrs and warmth could lure her back to its warm embrace. “ It was just a nightmare. Everything’s fine. “

His ears flicked , sparring a glance at the others. But they were all fast asleep still so he turned back to her , laying his head on his paws and remaining sprawled next to her. “ Do you want to talk about it ? “ He offers with some consideration , tail slowly flicking over the ground,

It was a good thing Byakkomaru could change the size of his tiger form. Because it made following Shinya’s order far easier for him once Shinya had fired the bullet. The demon tore through the air in one huge tiger , grabbing the back of Sayuri’s uniform to carry her in his mouth like a cub as he yanked her form the battlefield and the vampires closing in. Shinya wasn’t in danger at the moment and didn’t call for him , so the demon took the opportunity to bound several large buildings away before he dropped her on the roof of a still-standing building and shifted.

“ Sayuri , stop. “ The tiger demon gripped her shoulder , putting enough pressure to make sure she wouldn’t run forwards but not hurt her. “ There’s nothing more you can do. The only thing to be done is for Shinya to put those unfortunate souls out of their misery. We’ll find the others. “ Where the hell had they even gone ? One second they’d been there and the next the whole environment had suddenly become a distorted mess that’d separated so many.

Byakkomaru moved in front of her to block the view of the battlefield before crouching down to be eye to eye with her. “ Shinya’s looking for them now. So are two of my copies. “ Albeit those two copies were weaker than usual with his focus being towards rescuing Sayuri from the battlefield , but they were helping. “ They aren’t down there , so they’re probably safe. But I won’t let you get yourself hurt. Nothing in vain. Mito , Goshi , Guren , Shinya , they wouldn’t want that. “ He frowns , watching her face. “ Are you listening ? “
