I think about warrior cats sexism all the time. All the time. Like they clearly have it in their writing we (I’m saying we as in the circles I run in. If you don’t know here’s a video on it made by sunnyfall on yt) all know this but it’s in the way that the authors bias shows into their media which just shows how they think about women subconsciously. But like I’m obsessed with the version of warrior cats where this bias is actually real and was written with it in mind. Where it would actually be pointed out and looked at. Where it isn’t just something they accidentally but strongly wrote into their stories.
Idk even when I first read wc as a 7 year old I felt a connection to the female characters bc I could even see how mistreated they were (despite not knowing what sexism really was. just shows how I could already see the difference between me and my male peers at such a young age :/)
And wished so so badly that it would be confronted- but it never was. And that’s so upsetting to the point I still think about it all the time today.

So in “Back in Action”, it is claimed that if Porky dropped his stutter, he would be rendered unfunny. Do you think this is true?
i think there’s a big misconception that Porky’s stutter pulls more weight than it actually does. it can absolutely add its own humor and certainly a lot of charm, but i wholeheartedly disagree that he needs it to be funny
the stutter can be an avenue for a lot of fun or charming gags (the ever reliable bait and eh-sweh-swee-eh-swetch-swi—beh-bai-eh-bait and eh-seh-sweh—the ever reliable switcheroo is always a favorite, but the rare occasions where it’s actually acknowledged by Porky himself make for some fun situations too), but Porky’s personality is i think wholly independent from his speech patterns and many of his best cartoons aren’t because he has a stutter and nothing else. it can help with charisma for sure, and i definitely think it would be an odd if he didn’t have it, but… it’s like a topper for what’s already there. stutter or no stutter, he’s a bumbling, oblivious but endearing innocent. the stutter i think helps to convey all that, but is like a compliment to an already founded ensemble
outside of the bait-n-switch wordplay (which can be genius in its own right but IS often used as a crutch by directors when they’re having trouble finding inspiration for him), it’s rare that Porky or other characters really comment on the stutter. likewise, very rarely is it made fun of, and if it is it’s usually by characters who are purposefully supposed to be conveyed as assholes in the moment. which, y’know, is good! it’s not something that’s often noted by other characters and i think that does help in showing that he’s more than just a guy who stutters and doesn’t really single him out.
and you have clips like this for example—i didn’t notice anything odd about it until i noticed there wasn’t a stutter, and even then the personality is still all there in the voice (and mannerisms.) likewise, there’s quite a bit of his dialogue that he goes through without stuttering because having him stutter on every single sentence ever WOULD be excessive. it’s definitely an art, all of the varying directors have different variations of his stutter and as i said before, sometimes you CAN tell when the directors are struggling with inspiration because that’s when the switcheroos come out in close concentration; i don’t think it’s Porky being an unfunny character so much as it is the occasional lack of inspiration. the personality is VERY much there, but sometimes it can be hard to find depending on the circumstances. i have a hard time pinning that as a problem exclusive to Porky
i guess it depends who you ask. i am a Porky nut and often make a point to try and get people to come to The Pork Side because i feel he’s very underrepresented and a very FUNNY character at that! so i’m a bit biased—some other people may think he IS only funny because of the stutter. i personally think that’s very false and puts a lot of faith on the stutter when (at least in the originals) it’s not something given a lot of importance from the characters themselves. i can only really think of one cartoon where the stutter is central to the plot (two if you count the days with his original voice actor, whose stutter was natural)—it would certainly be odd without it, and i can see how it adds a lot of charm and some personality, but people who say he’s ONLY funny because of the stutter are usually people who don’t know how to write him to begin with

New Leafpool design!!!! I love her so much this new one gets what I wanted for her
-She is sleek but still chubby with a notable pouch and rounded legs. While her fur is rather swept back it’s thick on her back end, chest, and over her face
-She has many heart shapes and leaf shapes, with her pants pattern from Fire, leg fluff from Sand, and leaf like nose tufts from Fire. I wanted her to be a cinnamon and brown cat getting her brown from both sides and cinnamon ofc from her dad
-Decked out in plants. She has a few on her face and ears, three leaves on her tail with one ripped (for her kits), and a water lily from her gf Mothwing. And I kept her bisexual flag petals but put them on her chest fur instead right over her heart marking
-Hc wise I LOVE bisexual Leafpool but also polypool where she’d have a relationship with Mothwing, Snowbird, Nightcloud, and Whitetail. She gets all the ladies and I love that for her. Fave ships for her are MothLeaf, MothLeafNight, and her whole poly situation with all her loves (courtesy of @spottyissleepwalking for his amazing polypo3 au I adore it so much)
(ID- Leafpool is a sleek brown and cinnamon cat with floppy ears and round green and orange eyes. She is standing to the left with her eyes looking forward and front paws together, back legs back, and tail on the ground. She has her mouth open slightly. Hair covers the left side of her face in a fringe, longer fur on her chest. Back of her legs, and rump. She is a soft brown color with brown on her back in a pants pattern, fringe, front paws, tail and on her shoulder in one leaf shape. A darker brown is on her tail base in leaf like markings, two on her shoulder and bands on the back of her legs, tail, over her ears and fringe. Cinnamon patches are on her back hind leg, tail end, rump, and tip of her ears in a heart shape. Cream is on her chest, belly, back legs and nose. White is on her chest in a heart shape, belly, ear tip in a heart shape, tail tip, and on her toes on her back cinnamon leg. Leaves are on her ears and tail base with a water lily and bisexual colored petals on her chest. The colors used are in the top right with the faint signature “Nightly Ruse” over her body. End ID)

Agh it’s hard to post about my favorite characters cuz I’m still semi upset over the time I got an anon saying I would be on me knees for mothwing, a cat from a fictional series, just bc I drew her with some chin scruff. Like that’s it. That’s all. It still haunts me slightly.

yea i literally have one less cat than you and probably the only reason we don't have the same amnt is bcuz my sister is out of vet school and isnt takin care if adoptable cats anymore. anymore time there we'd have at least 2 more istg. i dread the day my BiL brings home another stray.
so real. the only reason i haven’t adopted more is because i got out of a school program that had a tendency to go ‘hey someone wants to rehome this cat’ and i, obsessive email checker that i am, would always see it first and go CAT and talk with whoever needed their cat rehomed and i didn’t even take the cat each time but i love cats sm and i mean, what’s one more? <- belief that has led to having so so many cats. besides. i’m not the only one who does it. my mother adopted a cat who’s owner moved out through work friends and we’ve all brought in a stray at some point. we try to get them rehomed before we get attached but…. that happens pretty quickly and also no one wants cats around here? that we know at least. and even with all of our cats we still will go to the shelter and foster queens/very young kittens (separate from our cats ofc) because we have so much experience with newborns and let’s be honest, kittens are so fucking cute. like. there will be points where it feels weird to not have fosters. but we need to take breaks else we’ll get too attached

Me: *casually complains about my mild UV ray allergy, something I’ve self diagnosed but is very mild and rather common for people like me where I live and doesn’t bother me that much, because I got a sunburn without realizing it today and like to be dramatic when mildly inconvenienced*
My dad: you know it’s probably *type of dermatitis he has that is nothing like the allergy* and you should do x about it
Me: that’s not what I have and I don’t need to do that
Him: *gets mad* I know about your body better than you because I know more about our family health history and you really should consider what I’m saying
Me: ok (I will not be doing that)
