“And then what happens to Cinderella at the ball, now most impertinently surrounded by pirates?” The warm voice of Wendy's mother chimes in, making her presence known, but also with a certain genuine intrigue for her daughter's unique retelling of the story.
Tumblr media
Wendy’s face lights up at the appearance of her mother. It’s one thing to have her stories capture the attention of her brothers, but to have her mother interested in them is another thing entirely. She stands up a little straighter, a sense of pride rushing in her.
❝Well, it wouldn’t do at all to let pirates ruin the ball. After all, Cinderella had been waiting for this moment for so long. Luckily she was always prepared...❞
Wendy lets the silence hang as she draws her wooden sword from behind her back, thrusting it into the air for emphasis.
❝To fight pirates! ❞ She shouts. ❝Even Hook, the most notorious and dreadful pirate of all. He had come to take her glass slippers, even if it meant her death.❞ She draws the sword across her throat, imitating a slicing sound with her mouth.
Her eyes flick back to her mother, watching expectantly to see her reaction to her tale.

Why love the early aughts Peter Pan movie
Top reason: It’s actually very faithful to the original work.
It keeps Wendy as the true protagonist
Tinkerbell is like her book counterpart (can only feel one emotion at a time)
It gives the book reason for how/why the Lost Boys exist and why there are are no Lost Girls
“[They’re] children who fall out of their prams when their nurse is not looking! If they are not claimed within seven days, they are sent to the Neverland!”
“Girls are much too clever to fall out of their prams!”
It follows the theatre tradition of having Mr. Darling played by the same actor who plays Hook
Peter has memory problems
“Who are you?” “...I’m John?”
Neverland’s weather is affected by Peter’s presence and moods
The mermaids are creepy and deadly (yet eerily beautiful)
“...Are mermaids not sweet?” “They’ll sweetly drown you, if you get too close.”
Hook is as scary as his book counterpart
Hook’s tears are poisonous
Hook’s eyes turn red when he’s about to kill someone
They managed to find a way to keep the “I do believe in fairies” moment from the play
It also has great lines/ moments
“Oh, the cleverness of me!”
“Wendy? One girl’s worth more than twenty boys.”
“It would be delightful to report that they reached the nursery in time. But then, there would be no story.”
“How DARE *whack* you call ME *whack* GIRLY! *whack*”
Tiger Lily rolling her eyes at the boys’ nonsense bravado.
*proudly* “Look Cap’n! I... am in a STORY!!!”
“That was no thimble.”
“Split my infinitives!”
*Hook trying to fly* “Think happy thoughts! Dentists, black death, any death! Children’s blood, puppies’ blood!”

Peter Pan (Walter/Daniels + children)
I just really wanted an excuse to write Peter Pan into a story, and this seemed like a fun (if slightly cheesey/silly) way to do so. It’s the most random thing ever but I felt like something kind of cute and fluffy :3
So in this fic/short drabble, I’m assuming that a school was built on Origae-6, and therefore it’s possible that children put on shows at the school for their parents. Honestly, any excuse to write parents!Walter-x-Daniels is a good excuse (with a fun appearance by Uncle Tennessee!)
I’ve taken the opening scene from ‘Hook’ (1991) in that it begins with a children’s school play of ‘Peter Pan’. The child playing Peter is a girl, which is a tradition in productions of ‘Peter Pan’ on-stage/in pantomime.
Jacob is 7, Maggie is 5.
The entire room was silent as soft music played through the hall, quietly echoing; all eyes were drawn to the stage at the front, lit up by two blue lights and showing a night time scene in a children’s bedroom. Two beds occupied the stage, in which two children feigned sleep while a third – a girl with hair tucked underneath her hat to imitate the short hairstyle of a boy – sat pretending to cry.
Slowly the music faded away, the last notes hanging in the air when the child in the bed to the left – a little girl with long blonde hair tied back with a ribbon and wearing an old Edwardian-style nightgown – sat up; she looked down at the crying child on the floor and tilted her head. “Boy, why are you crying?”
The crying ‘boy’ hurriedly rubbed his eyes, standing up. “What is your name?”
“Wendy Angela Moira Darling,” The girl answered, clambering from her bed and doing a small curtsey. “What is yours?”
“Peter Pan.”
The girl tilted her head. “Is that all? It’s very brief.”
In the audience, Tennessee was grinning to himself. “Look at her,” He muttered so hardly anyone could hear him. “She ain’t needed prompting once – and she said all that name without a single stutter.”
“She practiced for weeks,” Walter informed him seriously, never taking his eyes from the stage even as a tired Jacob leaned on his side. “She wanted to be sure that she could give an adequate performance.”
On their son’s other side, Daniels waved a hand at the two of them, though she looked just as proud and amused. “She’s still on-stage – shut up or you’ll miss her.”
Walter was immediately silent once more, entirely focused on their daughter; Tennessee shook his head but returned to concentrating, still mumbling about how wonderful his goddaughter was. Both men were wrapped around her daughter’s little finger, Daniels mused, and she couldn’t help but smirk at the thought; they’d both do anything for the little girl, quite literally – even sitting through school productions of ‘Peter Pan’, it seemed.
Maggie, still perfectly-in-character as Wendy, studied the ‘boy’ in front of her. “Where do you live?”
“Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning,” ‘Peter’ replied.
“What a funny address!”
He frowned. “No it isn’t.”
“What do they put on letters then?”
“Don’t get letters.”
Maggie looked confused. “But surely your mother gets letters.”
“Haven’t got one.”
“Haven’t got a…?” She looked perfectly aghast, almost as if she really were. “No wonder you were crying, Peter, if you haven’t got a mother!”
The boy huffed, crossing his arms and frowning. “I wasn’t crying because I don’t have a mother, I was crying because I couldn’t get my shadow to stick…and I wasn’t crying.”
“Oh. I shall sew it on for you, my little man,” The little girl decided sweetly, and she pulled a small box from under the bed. “It may hurt a little.”
As she knelt by her scene partner’s feet, Tennessee looked to Daniels knowingly. “Let me guess… Walter helped her with her lines?”
Daniels smiled, bemused as she nodded. “Of course he did. She was adamant about being perfect – and he can’t say no to her.”
In fact, Walter had done nothing but help their daughter learn her lines over the past month; it had been rather amusing when she’d come home one afternoon to find Walter reciting Peter Pan’s lines with a perfectly serious expression. Clearly, he was not programmed with the speciality of performing in fantasy plays, Daniels thought to herself dryly.
Back on the stage, Maggie was still kneeling at her scene partner’s feet as she pretended to sew; when she finished, ‘Peter’ whooped and gave a crow, putting his hands on his hips. “Wendy, look! The cleverness of me!”
As several audience members chuckled, Maggie pouted and pretended to look hurt. “Of course, I did nothing then!”
“…You did a little.”
“A little!” Without warning, she clambered up and threw herself on the bed – it was quite similar to how she behaved at home when she was annoyed, Walter noted to himself, well-behaved though she was. “Well, if I’m of no use then…”
‘Peter’ looked somewhat apologetic. “I’m sorry, Wendy, I didn’t mean it.” He paused, taking a step closer. “Wendy?... One girl is worth more than twenty boys.”
Jacob quietly scoffed to himself, much to Daniels’ amusement – it was clear he didn’t quite agree with such a sentiment. It was his third time having to sit through the school production, and though he hadn’t complained – he knew how much it meant to his sister, after all, and he did love her – it was obvious that he was getting bored and tired of the whole thing.
“You really think so?” Maggie asked, sitting up hopefully, and she beamed when he nodded. “I think it’s perfectly swee-” A rather loud cough from the audience interrupted her, and she huffed before raising her voice to an almost-shout. “I think it’s perfectly sweet of you! I shall give you a kiss, if you like!”
‘Peter’ held out his hand expectantly, as if waiting for her to hand him something. A few people chuckled.
“Don’t you know what a kiss is?”
“I shall, once you give one to me.” Maggie lifted her finger, a shiny thimble glinting in the light; she removed it before handing it to the child playing Peter; the child examined it before giving a nod. “Now, I shall give you a kiss!”
The blonde girl was suddenly on her feet, puckering her lips; a collective ‘aww’ raised from the audience at the sight of her – Tennessee being the loudest – followed by a few more chuckles when she was instead handed a small acorn. “Oh… Well, thank you! I shall wear it around my neck. How old are you, Peter?”
“I don’t know. I ran away the day I was born.”
“Ran away? Why?”
“Because I heard father and mother talking of what I was to be when I became a man. I want always to be a little boy and to have fun; so I ran away and lived a long time among the fairies.”
Maggie’s eyes were wide with wonder. “You know fairies, Peter!”
Tennessee nudged Walter, the wide grin on his face unmistakable now even in the dark. “Tomorrow night we’re filming this – I got a camera last week we can use.”
Before the synthetic could respond, Daniels was laughing quietly underneath her breath. “That’s not necessary, Tee – Walter’s already filmed it twice.”
*
Was this random? Yes. It was random but I felt like writing something linked to Peter Pan after I met him and Wendy in Disneyland last Monday :3 Also, Maggie is the name of Peter Pan’s daughter in “Hook!”, and at the beginning of the film she plays Wendy in her school’s play. I just thought it would be a cute idea.

( °. WHEN PETER ASKED whether michael was the creative one, wendy pouted. wasn’t she supposed to be the creative one ? john the brains, michael the sports and wendy… well, she was creative. she was the writer, the one who came up with adventures and stories. “ but… if michael’s the creative one… then… who am i ? “, the brunette asked, slightly hesitant as she pointed at herself, her eyes fixed on peter’s as a petite smile tugged at her lips. it actually wasn’t a fair question – wendy knew as much. and not only because peter had been gone for six months ( who knows what could’ve happened in six months, right ? ), but mainly because wendy wasn’t even sure of the correct answer herself. not anymore. but right now, the brunette didn’t want to think about that. this was such a beautiful afternoon. it was peter, and her, and the lost boys. she wanted to have fun, like the good old times. she sure wasn’t going to let these six months drive them even further apart. no, today was for getting closer. closer again – something she craved so badly. giggling, wendy lifted her shoulders: “ i guess you’re right. but peter, you know i don’t like surprises very much. “, she reminded him, her smile never once falling from her features. with her eyes still firmly closed and her hand safely in peter’s, the brunette gave herself into his hands, trusting upon his guidance. she knew she was safe with him – she’d always be. “ erm… there’s water… we’re too far away from the beach so that can’t be it… “, the girl reasoned as they carefully advanced. “ the cliff ? “, the word left her lips slightly unsure – she’d never been there. her father told her it was dangerous. it was a steep fall, he’d said. and he wouldn’t want her to fall into her death. when peter stopped moving, so did wendy, and with a smile still bright on her lips she waited for him to tell her she could open her eyes. feeling his hand caress her arm briefly before sneaking his arm around her waist, wendy bit on the inside of her cheek – she was very aware of his presence, of how close he was standing to her. and just like every other time, his proximity made her heart beat a bit faster. at the ‘ go ‘, the brunette opened her eyes slowly, having to blink a couple times before she’d gotten used to the light once more. “ are we going to… ? “, she asked hesitantly as she looked down at the water. “ jump? “, her brows raising as she turned her head to face her friend. “ i didn’t…. i didn’t bring my bathing suit. “.
Tumblr media
The question was as profound as it came unexpected to peter, and for once he did not have an immediate answer, unsure whether she even wanted him to take it as serious as she had clearly taken his snippet of conversation, his remembering really of her youngest brother being part of a play, probably ( definitely in peter’s non-humble opinion ) a good director of one too. “what do you want to be? “ he asked, a little hesitant. it was a very peter question to ask, followed by the encouragement that you could be whatever you wanted to be — but she, or her father had already chosen to give up what she wanted to be. “ it’s tough to surprise a girl as clever as weny darling too, “ he chuckled playfully as she all too easily guessed which place he had had in mind, “ maybe that’s why you don’t like surprises then, you keep spoiling them for yourself !! “ it had not been the first and he doubted oh so very much that it would be last of his surprises she would be able to read in their surroundings or the features on his face. he didn’t mind it, of course, was proud in fact of the cleverness of her. his eyes were intently fixated on her face as she first opened her own, blinking the brightness away until the beauty of untouched nature finally revealed it to herself — and then nothing. peter couldn’t help it, bursting out into loud and splitting laughter as she seemed not to be impressed at all. “ wendy, “ her name a chuckle falling from his lips, “ i know you must’ve dreamed about more wonderous things but the difference between those and this– “ not that dreams weren’t real, peter would fight everyone on that, “ –is that we are here. now to be exact and who knows if in future we’re ever going to come back? “ his gaze followed hers then, looking down the edge and feeling no fright at all — but he knew from his lost boys ( which he kindly ignored right now ) that not everyone wanted to fly, especially when the moment of flying changed all too quickly into free falling. “ you don’t have to, “ he assured her, giving her a gentle squeeze as though to say he would never force her to do anything, especially when it frightened her, “ there’s a way you can get down, slightly will take you. “ said lost boy immediately turning his head to them, checking whether his presence was needed. “ or you can stay up here..? i’ll be back in no time at all. i just… can’t bring them here and not be the first to jump. “ it was against the rules, against all leadership not to ensure your crew was fine. at the mention of a ‘ bathing suit ‘ peter suddenly got all silent, the fact that he was used to a group of boys now showing quite clearly. “ i didn’t… think of that, ” he admitted after a moment, astounded himself by his idiocy for once, “ you can have my shirt..? “ and he smiled, lifting his shoulders as he quipped with as much cockiness as he posessed ( and a little bit or seriousness too ): “ if you want i’ll make them jump the cliff blind, a girl’s worth more than twenty boys. “ which meant he could lose some lost boys in case they missed the pit.

[Wendy Darling starter with @celestaei: Zarina]
Tumblr media
Wendy had always loved fairies, so she had been rather disappointed that the first fairy she met, Tinkerbell, disliked her so. But Neverland was supposed to be home to more fairies than just Tink, and Wendy was overjoyed when she came across another one.
“Oh! Hello there!” she called out to her, eagerly approaching. “What’s your name?”

❝ ˛✦ ⊰ THERE WERE SO many more things wendy wanted to tell him – results of her soul-search whilst he was away, as to why exactly she was so down in the dumps after his departure. but she couldn’t. at least not right now. not because she didn’t want him to know, but because she was pretty convinced he wouldn’t w a n t to know. when the beginning of a question rolled from his lips, wendy looked up at him ( due to nana’s soft whining for pets, the brunette had averted her gaze, letting her fingers run through her dog’s fur ), her brows raised in a questioning manner – but just like so many other things with peter nowadays, the question soon turned into an unfinished business; something neither of them may ever know the ending of; something which is destined to turn into one of many ‘ what if’s ‘ in both their minds. when he explained why he wanted to come back, wendy nodded and smiled softly… homesickness. for his friends, his boys. t i n k, of course. upon hearing his next question, wendy’s heart sank and she could no longer face him. the thought of jim alone was enough to have a lump grow in her throat and she shook her head. “ we’re not. going out. “, the brunette quickly said, her voice silent as she balled her hands in her lap. not that she didn’t want to go out with him – she still liked him… “ we’ve hung out, we went on a date and… i kissed him. “, lifting her shoulders nonchalantly even though the fact she’d given him her first kiss and he didn’t even seem to care was not any nonchalant business to her. she just didn’t want peter to know just how much it hurt, knowing she was seemingly not good enough for anyone. knowing she’d never be someone’s first choice. knowing how people liked her – just not enough. never enough. “ but then he slept with zarina, and i’m pretty sure he doesn’t care about me. i’m not even sure the date or the kiss meant anything to him. he was… probably not interested enough, and realised just like everyone else that i’m just… good old wendy. i’m nothing special. i’m not particularly intelligent or talented, i’m not extremely funny or pretty… i’m everyone’s good friend, but that’s it. jim’s got ariel and, apparently, zarina. barrel’s got dot. you’ve… you’ve got tink. “, tears burned in her eyes but the brunette refused to let them run free, so instead she just smiled and nodded as she lifted her chin to look at him, forcing back the water in her eyes. “and in the end – when it comes down to it… i’ve got no one. i mean i’ve got john and michael, but… it’s not the same. “, shaking her head and raising her shoulders as she quickly brought her hand up to her eye to rub the tears away, wendy smiled at peter before continuing: “ anyway – did you, erm… “, clearing her throat as she tried to push through her thoughts and think of a question. “ did you see mermaids ? “. there were so many more things she wanted to ask him – she just wasn’t sure she could bear getting the answers to those, right now.
Tumblr media
The answer peter had braced himself for – the with admiration sparkling eyes and a spate of words describing just how great jim hawkins was – did not come and peter knew he’d have beenannoyed if it did, would’ve acted as immature and defiant as the child people took him for — but to tell the truth, he’d have rather have secretly rolled his eyes at the hymn of praise which wasn’tabout him than listen to his little bird lose hope, lose confidence, lose a whole piece of her heart perhaps too, to her own gloomy thoughts. peter just stared, stared in complete silence for a few moments in which he wished so hard for his brain cells to understand where her words were coming from, what she was feeling and most importantly, how he could fix it. “ i – “ he frowned, a full on frown laced with confusion and genuine shock at the sheer ridiculousness of her words.nothing special?! peter shifted, suddenly incapable to sit still any longer, wiggling himself free of nana and chuting closer to the girl who was so very special to him until his knees already brushed hers. “ wendy, you are out of your mind !! “ which admittedly, wasn’t the best way to start an attempt at consoling her, but it was the first sentence his brain managed to come up with. “ he’s just a boy, “ peter bowed his head a little to look at his little bird, a soft smile tugging on his lips in an attempt to lighten her spirits, “ not even a lost one. he’s an idiot. “ peter had said it before and he believed in it still: one girl – especially one like wendy darling – was worth more than twenty boys. “ and you are good. “ a good friend, a best friend, and more of a family than his lost boys had for a long time dared dreaming of. “ but you’re intelligent too, and you write the greatest stories — not just because they used to be about me. “ albeit, it had most definitely been a plus for him in the beginning. “ if you’re not funny, you are fun to be around, and you’re not just pretty, you are…   “ his voice started becoming quieter towards the end before dying all at once, suddenly aware of what he was going to say. could he say that? it wasn’t a secret. in fact, it was obvious and peter was convinced everyone could see it. plus, they were back at being friends, the kind of friends who could evidently talk to each other, weren’t they? it was just a compliment. friends could do that. “ you are beautiful, wendy. “ and it was needless to say, that for a many reasons the thought of switching wendy for zarina ( or anyone for that matter )was nothing short of absurd to him. ” you’re my little bird, of course, you are special. “ he didn’t quite understand why girls always thought that way; that you could only consider one of them important in your life — that tink had a problem with wendy and wendy with tink and even vanellope seemed sometimes irritated with him for his closeness to his other female friends. “you have me..? “ he pointed out, a hint of hesitance in his voice and he was glad for the change of topic if only it was momentarily. “ i didn’t see mermaids, but you never know, because i’ve seen people in water without seeing their legs, so i might have seen some after all. “ it was an attempt to cheer her up once more, a smile accompanying his lips before it vanished again for a look more serious. “ do you want me to… make him hurt too? “
